  • Here’s Why “Love Is Blind” Features Those Gold Cups in Basically Every Scene

Here’s Why “Love Is Blind” Features Those Gold Cups in Basically Every Scene

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

There are numerous standout stars on the newest season of “Love Is Blind” — Megan Fox (Chelsea Blackwell), AD’s mother, Kenneth’s phone, and the EpiPen, to name a few — but no star shines quite as bright as the famed gold cups. You know the ones we’re talking about: those metallic-tinged wine glasses that pop up in nearly every frame of the Netflix dating series.

As omnipresent as the drama, the shiny goblets, of both the stemmed and stemless variety, aren’t just sipped by contestants in the pods; they also score a ticket to the all-inclusive honeymoon resort in the Dominican Republic and make appearances, well, pretty much everywhere. Viewers can see them at the group pool party in North Carolina, the wedding-dress shop, every family’s house, and every contestant’s apartment. We’ll put it this way: if “take a shot every time you see a gold cup” was part of a “Love Is Blind” drinking game, you’d likely end up with a massive hangover after just one episode.

So, what’s the purpose of the ubiquitous drinking vessels, and where on earth did they come from? Wonder no more, because we’ve got answers right here.

What’s With the “Love Is Blind” Gold Cups?

“Love Is Blind” creator Chris Coelen told Variety that he chose the cups as a way to aesthetically distinguish the series — because holing up would-be lovers in tiny pods separated by an illuminated wall wasn’t enough to do so, apparently. “When you turn on the show, you know it’s our show,” he said. “It’s a very authentic, really true following of these people’s journeys, but I like the fact that we have this sort of connective tissue with that in a really light way.” Beyond that, the opaque nature of the glasses allows for seamless continuity; editors can cobble together scenes without worrying about how much alcohol, water, coffee, or whatever preferred liquid is left in each contestant’s cup. Plus, the fact that they’re metal and therefore harder to break than glass helps, too.

POPSUGAR also reached out to Netflix about where they scored the viral gold cups — y’know, just in case we plan a “Love Is Blind”-themed party in the future. A representative from the show’s production company, Kinetic Content, told us they were, unsurprisingly, purchased in bulk from Amazon and transported from location to location by production vans. Although they were unable to provide the exact brand, this product listing on Amazon looks like a pretty spot-on dupe.

While the inescapable glasses made a splash among eagle-eyed “Love Is Blind” fans, they also became a mascot of sorts for every contestant — especially the women from season two. Deepti Vempati, who got engaged to but later broke things off with Shake Chatterjee, told E! News that she and the other ladies from the show’s season want to get matching tattoos of the golden wine glasses. “We’ve been through so much, and we would always put all of our drinks in the gold goblets,” she said. “It’s just a symbolic thing for us.”

  • Inside Flavor Flav and Taylor Swift’s Unexpected Yet Delightful Friendship

Inside Flavor Flav and Taylor Swift’s Unexpected Yet Delightful Friendship

Flavor Flav is in his Swiftie era. The rapper has formed a surprising yet wholesome bond with Taylor Swift, cheering her on through one of her busiest years to date. Their budding friendship seems to date back to March, when Flav attended the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards proudly wearing a shirt that read, “I come back stronger than a ’90s trend,” in reference to Swift’s “Willow” lyrics. When asked about his outfit choice on the red carpet, he told Billboard, “Love me some Taylor Swift, man, always did.” The pair wound up crossing paths later that evening and captured the selfie seen ’round the world. They’ve been charming the internet ever since.

Flav has consistently shown support for Swift following their first in-person meetup. He spent a not-so-cruel summer attending two of her Eras Tour concerts — and yes, he dressed up in on-theme outfits and traded friendship bracelets with fellow Swifties. He even met Swift’s parents, Scott and Andrea, during one of her Los Angeles shows in August, and her dad chose Flav to hand out guitar picks to other fans.

“One thing that I always loved about Taylor Swift is her records are real, from her personal experiences.”

The hip-hop star knows his Swiftie status may seem random to outsiders, but he’s genuinely fond of her music. “A lot of people thought it was kind of weird seeing me at a Taylor Swift concert, I guess because of my age, but when it comes down to music, it has no age,” he told TMZ in June. “One thing that I always loved about Taylor Swift is her records are real, from her personal experiences. Not only that, but she keeps it real with her people.”

After Flav cemented himself as a true Swift fan, she returned the love by inviting him to the the world premiere of her Eras Tour concert movie in Los Angeles in October. He hit the red carpet in a custom T-shirt inspired by her song “Look What You Made Me Do” and again hung out with Swift’s parents and her younger brother, Austin. Later that month, Swift surprised Flav with a special gift to celebrate the release of “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” sending him the vinyl record and an official light-blue cardigan. He repped the merch soon after at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, styling it with a custom clock necklace bedazzled with blue rhinestones.

We can probably all agree Swift and Flav’s friendship was not on our collective bingo card for 2023, but we’re more than happy it’s here. A collaboration between the two music stars would just be the cherry on top. Look back on the most endearing moments from their relationship so far below, and join us in crossing our fingers they hit the studio together soon.

  • Kim Kardashian’s Invisible-Strap Heels Are Playing Tricks on Our Eyes

Kim Kardashian’s Invisible-Strap Heels Are Playing Tricks on Our Eyes

It’s a miracle Kim Kardashian made it through the CFDA Awards without breaking an ankle. The Skims founder attended the Nov. 6 ceremony wearing a pair of platform “Barbie-foot heels” that doubled as an optical illusion. As she made her way up the American Museum of Natural History steps in New York City, the nearly invisible toe straps made it look as though her feet were attached to the stilettos by glue. Without the support of an ankle strap, we would’ve totally taken a tumble, but Kardashian ascended the stairs and posed on the red carpet like a pro with nary a wobble in sight.

As for the rest of Kardashian’s look, she wore a custom halter Chrome Hearts gown made of leather, embroidered with the label’s signature cross motif. The back of the dress was held together by metallic buttons that were undone at the bottom to create a slit, allowing her heels to peek out from underneath.

With the help of her go-to stylist, Danielle Levi, Kardashian finished the outfit with silver Chrome Hearts jewelry, a black manicure, and a tousled Pamela Anderson-style updo. During the award ceremony, she took the stage to present the fashion icon award to Serena Williams, the first athlete to receive the accolade.

The CFDA Awards gathered dozens of stylish celebrities to honor designers and stars shaping the fashion industry. Anne Hathaway hosted the event this year, arriving in a denim Ralph Lauren set and later changing into a red lace Rodarte gown. Other standout looks of the night included Lola Tung’s sheer embellished Balmain minidress, Mary J. Blige’s crystal-covered Christian Siriano gown, and Madelyn Cline’s strapless metallic Oscar de la Renta dress.

Check out the wild heels Kardashian wore to the CFDA Awards below, then look back at her style evolution through the years to see how much her footwear taste has changed over time.

  • Lupita Nyong’o Has Her Revenge-Dress Moment in an Underwear-Baring Gown

Lupita Nyong’o Has Her Revenge-Dress Moment in an Underwear-Baring Gown

Lupita Nyong’o’s latest look may be her most daring yet. On Nov. 4, the actor attended the LACMA Art + Film Gala in one hell of a revenge dress following her recent breakup from boyfriend Selema Masekela. She conquered the visible-underwear trend in a lacy maroon Gucci gown with a plunging neckline, completely sheer skirt, and see-through panels at the bust.

With input from stylist Micaela Erlanger, Nyong’o paired the look with a diamond De Beers necklace that dripped down her décolletage, plus earrings and rings by the same jeweler. A black manicure and black and red eyeshadow completed her sultry look.

Nyong’o has been open with fans about her split from Masekela, sharing the news on Instagram last month. “I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception,” the star wrote on Oct. 19. She admitted to feeling “tempted to run into the shadows and hide” while processing the breakup, but she’s instead facing the pain with courage — and dressing for revenge à la Princess Diana.

Although Nyong’o’s style tends to be pretty modest, she’s experimented with more revealing looks this year. At the 2023 Tony Awards in June, she introduced a new take on the “naked” fashion trend by wearing a silver breastplate cast from a mold of her own chest, nipples and all. She described it as a “shameless out-of-body experience” to walk the red carpet in the backless piece, which was custom made by artist and fashion designer Misha Japanwala.

Read ahead for more photos of Nyong’o looking absolutely exquisite at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles.

Shop the Tiny-Purse Trend For Less With Target’s $15 Micro Nano Bag

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

If you’re obsessed with the tiny-purse trend but don’t want to drop hundreds on one from a high-end designer, Target has you covered. The retailer’s A New Day fashion brand recently dropped a $15 purse dubbed the Micro Nano Satchel Handbag. As the name emphasizes twice, the accessory is quite miniature, measuring 2.5 inches tall and 4.75 inches wide, so it can pretty much fit in the palm of your hand.

Made of a puffy recycled material resembling faux leather, the compact bag has a detachable top handle and comes in six different colors: light pink, light blue, silver, yellow, lime green, and red.

At first glance, it looks like Derek Zoolander would glance at the purse and exclaim, “What is this? A handbag for ants?” But it actually fits a lot more than you’d expect. One TikTok creator shared that she was able to squeeze her driver’s license, debit card, some cash, a packet of Tylenol, a small container of hand sanitizer, an Aquaphor tube, Listerine strips, a screw-top lip oil, and a floss stick in her teeny light-pink bag. The size seems to be a plus rather than a deterrent for most shoppers, drumming up lots of excitement on TikTok the last few weeks.

As a fun addition, you can customize the purse to find the look that best suits your personal style. Remove the top handle and carry it like a clutch, or swap in one of A New Day’s long crossbody straps, sold separately for just $10. There are silver and gold chain straps for a pop of metallic, or colorful acrylic options to match your bag’s hue. Each one comes with lobster claw clasps, so it’s easy to hook the strap onto your Micro Nano Satchel Handbag — or any other handbag in your collection, for that matter.

Shop Target’s soon-to-be-viral Micro Nano Satchel Handbag in every color below to hop on the mini-purse bandwagon for less.

  • Paris Hilton Had a Staggering 45 Dresses Prepared For Her Wedding Day

Paris Hilton Had a Staggering 45 Dresses Prepared For Her Wedding Day

Today in wildly unrelatable celebrity news, Paris Hilton just revealed that she had 45 wedding dresses at the ready on her big day. Yes, you read that correctly — forty-freakin’-five. The reality TV star casually dropped the anecdote in a British Vogue video published on Oct. 26. While reliving her most memorable outfits through the years, she touches on the many bridal looks she wore to tie the knot with husband Carter Reum in November 2021. “I actually wore six dresses the night of my wedding, and it was because I literally had 45 of them,” she says.

Why so many options, you ask? “My stylist was getting calls from designers all around the world, and everyone was so excited to be a part of this wedding that they all made these incredible custom dresses that were so beautiful,” Hilton says. “I tried to wear as many of them as possible.” The ones that made the cut were certainly worthy of the glamorous occasion. Hilton walked down the aisle in an Oscar de la Renta gown featuring long sleeves, a high neck, and elegant pressed-flower embroidery that trailed down a voluminous tulle skirt. “I wanted something that was really just princess . . . I was going for a Grace Kelly vibe,” she says of the design.

After the ceremony, the wardrobe changes commenced. In addition to another bespoke Oscar de la Renta piece — a bustier-style cocktail dress made of taffeta — Hilton also danced the night away in a caped Pamella Roland number dripping in sequins and pearls, plus an off-the-shoulder Galia Lahav princess gown made of a glittery, gauzy fabric. On the second day of her wedding, Paris orchestrated a carnival at Santa Monica Pier, where she wore a neon-pink tulle dress by Stacey Bendet of Alice + Olivia. The final look of the jam-packed weekend was a silver star-adorned Oscar de la Renta gown with a sheer skirt.

Now that we know Hilton had 39 other dresses on deck for her wedding, we have several pressing questions. Was there an entire room (or several rooms) at the venue set aside for storing them that night? How many did she realistically hope to wear? And perhaps most importantly: Where is she storing the dresses now, and does she want to stop paying the storage fees? Because we’d happily take a few of ’em off her hands.

Read ahead to admire Hilton’s numerous wedding dresses, and then refresh your memory on her ginormous diamond engagement ring if you so please.

  • Maggie Smith’s New Fashion Campaign Is Absolute Magic

Maggie Smith’s New Fashion Campaign Is Absolute Magic

Maggie Smith can now add “internet-breaking handbag model” to her expansive résumé. The seasoned actor stars in Loewe’s new spring 2024 pre-collection campaign, and though it’s a rather unexpected collaboration, the slayage is impossible to ignore. As Wendy Williams’s heavily meme’d saying goes, “She’s an icon, she’s a legend, and she is the moment.”

Smith, 88, ditches her pointy Professor McGonagall hat and wears three distinct outfits in her spread, which was captured by photographer Juergen Teller and conceptualized by Loewe Creative Director Jonathan Anderson. The most standout look is the definitely her brown shearling coat — she cozies up in the Hagrid-adjacent outerwear and shows off Loewe’s popular puzzle bag while posing in front of a brick wall like a pro. Smith’s signature smirk is on display, giving a look that says, “Don’t you wish you looked as fabulous as me?” The answer is yes, yes we do.

To be fair, several other notable celebrities also appear in the Loewe campaign, including Greta Lee, Dakota Fanning, Taeyong, and Josh O’Connor. But no one’s quite stirred up as much hoopla as Smith. The numbers say it all: when Anderson teased the campaign on his Instagram on Oct. 24, Smith’s photos garnered the most engagement by far. Many fans couldn’t resist making Harry Potter references, with one commenting, “One thousand points to Gryffindor!” Tons of celebrities have also shared their support, with Dan Levy writing, “Are you kidding me,” and SZA chiming in, “She’s SO cute.” Now that, folks, is called making an impression.

Smith isn’t the first senior actor to model for Loewe. Anthony Hopkins, 85, memorably appeared in the brand’s fall 2022 campaign, playfully posing with various tote bags. In an industry that prioritizes young up-and-comers and fresh faces, seeing the fashion house spotlight older celebrities is refreshing and worth celebrating. Might we suggest Jane Fonda as Loewe’s next muse? We can totally picture her rocking those wild deflated-balloon heels like nobody’s business.

  • Hailey Bieber’s Favorite $65 Sunglasses Were Just Restocked — Shop Them Here

Hailey Bieber’s Favorite $65 Sunglasses Were Just Restocked — Shop Them Here

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Hailey Bieber’s wardrobe is filled with pieces I could never dream of affording: custom-made dresses, designer shoes, straight-off-the-runway handbags, and let’s not forget her “priceless” bubble-initial necklace. So imagine my surprise when I learned that her go-to sunglasses don’t even hit triple digits in price. They cost just $65.

Since the summer, Bieber has been spotted on several occasions wearing the same pair of ’90s-style sunnies by Australian eyewear brand Otra. They feature a thin metal frame and narrow black lenses, one of which displays the brand’s name in white lettering. Bieber has worn the affordable sunglasses on a shopping trip during the summer, in an #OOTD Instagram post, and for a recent coffee run with her hubby, Justin. Several other stars have repped the same shades over the past few months, including Kelly Rowland, Emma Hernan, and Tessa Brooks.

With so much celebrity endorsement, the sunglasses unsurprisingly sold out online earlier this year, but I’m pleased to report they’re back in stock — for now, at least. Although Otra is based in Australia, the company ships all US orders from a warehouse in Los Angeles, so you don’t have to worry about paying an arm and a leg for shipping. (It either costs $5 for USPS ground or $10 for express.) Copying Hailey Bieber’s style for less than 80 bucks altogether? Sign me up.

Shop Bieber’s exact Otra sunglasses ahead to step up your accessories game without breaking the bank — and then check out her $28 vampire corset from Amazon if you need a last-minute Halloween costume.

  • The Funniest “Weird Barbies” People Have Shared on TikTok This Year

The Funniest “Weird Barbies” People Have Shared on TikTok This Year

“Weird Barbies” have finally gotten the recognition they deserve this year. In Greta Gerwig’s box-office-smashing “Barbie,” Kate McKinnon portrays a disheveled doll who’s been played with “too hard.” Her face is scribbled on, her blond hair is chaotically chopped, and she’s often in the splits. Weird Barbie’s presence among the slew of other perfectly manicured Barbies and Kens clearly struck a chord: following the movie’s theater debut in July and Prime Video debut in September, viewers have shown off their own botched dolls from childhood, creating a social media trend that still makes us laugh to this day.

Over on TikTok, Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” soundtracks countless footage of Barbies that’ve undergone some pretty extreme makeovers. “I feel so bad for my barbie. She’s walking around in barbie land like this!” one user wrote over a clip of a shaved doll head attached to two plastic legs without a body or arms. Other videos show a doll stuck in a beer can, one with its detached head tied to the end of a ribbon, and another with a tiny picture of Eminem inexplicably taped over the face. Watching each’s doll’s unveiling is hilarious, nostalgic, and relatable all at the same time.

The Weird Barbie appreciation doesn’t stop there. In recent months, tons of creators have shared makeup tutorials inspired by McKinnon’s quirky character, and we can already tell she’s shaping up to be a popular Halloween costume pick this year. One TikToker even had the idea to host a “make your own Weird Barbie night” complete with paint, fabric, and other art supplies for friends to customize their own doll. Plus, in August, Mattel released a limited-edition Weird Barbie doll that’s since sold out online, proving she’s the standout star of 2023.

Read ahead to watch the funniest Weird Barbie TikToks we’ve come across, and get in on the fun by posting your own mangled toy for all to see.

  • We Found the Best Dupes For Hailey Bieber’s “Priceless” Bubble-Initial Necklace

We Found the Best Dupes For Hailey Bieber’s “Priceless” Bubble-Initial Necklace

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Hailey Bieber’s new favorite accessory is no secret. The model has been wearing the same diamond “B” necklace on repeat since August, pairing it with minidresses, bikinis, and just about everything in between. Bieber enlisted NYC-based jeweler Alex Moss to customize the dazzling design as a staple piece and homage to husband Justin’s last name. The letter is in a bubble font that fits right in with the Y2K style comeback, and it’s entirely covered in rows upon rows of tiny pavé diamonds. When POPSUGAR inquired about the cost, a rep for Moss simply shared that it’s “considered priceless.”

Bieber has certainly been getting her money’s worth the past few months. The model first debuted her bubble initial necklace on Instagram in early August while showing off her “strawberry girl” makeup look. Since then, she’s worn the accessory to enjoy dinner with friends, attend the US Open, and soak up the sun on a boat adventure. The necklace was also front and center when Bieber stepped out in a red minidress for a Rhode launch party in New York City on Aug. 28; the outing went viral, thanks to Justin’s comparably casual hoodie and sweat-shorts outfit.

Moss says it’s been “a great feeling” to see Bieber rep his handiwork on so many occasions. “It means we did what we set out to do: make timeless jewelry,” he tells POPSUGAR. “That piece will never not be in style. You definitely have to give Hailey credit for making it look good!” Bieber enjoyed working with Moss so much that she also tapped him to design matching mushroom necklaces for her and Justin’s five-year wedding anniversary, which they celebrated in September. Similar to her “B” necklace, both pendants are encrusted with sparkly pavé diamonds.

Seeing as Bieber is a bona fide trendsetter, inspiring folks to make their nails look like glazed doughnuts and wear ballet flats again, bubble initial necklaces similar to hers are starting to pop up online left and right. We tracked down the best dupes from Amazon, Etsy, BaubleBar, and more, in case “priceless” isn’t exactly in your budget. Shop our top picks ahead.

  • Marc Jacobs Model Tumbles Down Stairs For New Ad, Deserves a Raise

Marc Jacobs Model Tumbles Down Stairs For New Ad, Deserves a Raise

The Marc Jacobs marketing team is wild for this one. To advertise its new XL Sack Bag, the fashion label captured a model inexplicably tumbling down stairs while carrying the roomy tote — because posing for regular ol’ photo shoots is so last year, it appears.

In a now-viral video shared on Oct. 10, a brunette woman dressed in silver separates and Marc Jacobs’s towering seven-inch platform boots elegantly rolls down a flight of concrete steps, the white purse never leaving her shoulder. Upon reaching the bottom, she jumps to her feet, fixes her hair, and walks off frame without batting an eyelash. It’s chaos. It’s art. It’s a serve, your honor.

Now, before you get your panties in a bunch over Marc Jacobs treating its models like rag dolls, it’s worth noting that the woman in the video is a professional stunt performer named Tereza Kubová. Judging by her Instagram, she has lots of experience safely flinging herself around for various projects. Still, this doesn’t answer the question on everyone’s mind: why? Why use a model hurtling down a flight of steps to promote a new bag? To prove its durability and injury-thwarting properties?

Marc Jacobs provided no context or explanation while posting the video on Instagram, simply captioning it, “The XL Sack Bag,” and crediting art director Yulya Shadrinsky for shooting the clip. Upon further analysis, the “why” is actually quite clear. As Will Ferrell’s character famously says in “Blades of Glory,” “No one knows what it means, but it’s provocative . . . It gets the people going.” It’s meant to be wacky and catch you off guard.

Shadrinsky specializes in creating this type of unconventional, conversation-sparking content for fashion brands, previously making a model roll down a giant dirt pile for Jean Paul Gaultier and another karate kick a glass bottle for Alexander Wang. It’s genius marketing for an era when people live online and communicate via similarly meme-worthy clips. It got you reading to the end of this think piece on a designer handbag, after all.

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Cue the swinging saloon doors, ’cause there’s a new sheriff shoe in town. Crocs is soon releasing a cowboy boot version of its famous holey clogs, complete with spurs, embroidery, and a gold star Jibbitz charm. Although the footwear mashup may seem out of left field for the non-Croc-acquainted, it’s actually “one of the most widely requested Crocs shoe designs in brand history,” according to a press release. No receipts were shared proving these apparent requests — Were they repeatedly submitted via an online form? Did someone start a change.org petition pleading for their creation? — but alas, we’ll take the brand’s word for it and relish in the absurdity.

The Croc-ified cowboy boots have all the markings of regular cowboy boots. They extend up to mid-calf, have a texture reminiscent of crocodile skin, are covered in western-style stitching, and even come with a removable metallic spur on the back strap, should your horse need to giddyup. Seeing as these are still Crocs we’re talking about here, there’s a smattering of holes across the front for all your ventilation and charm-customization needs.

Upon first catching wind of the Crocs cowboy boots, our first reaction was: “What in tarnation has fashion come to?!” But upon further inspection, there are actually quite a few instances where this type of boot-clog hybrid would be useful. Heading to a rainy outdoor country music concert or sweaty football game tailgate? Crocs cowboy boots have you covered, partner. Attending a pool party that’s also inexplicably offering horseback riding? Don’t forget your Crocs cowboy boots. Running out for groceries but need something to strike up conversation with that cute cashier? Crocs cowboy boots should do the trick.

Crocs has been churning out unexpected designs for years, from the bejeweled platform Crocs that graced the Simone Rocha runway to those high-heeled Balenciaga Crocs that nearly broke the internet two years ago. If you can’t possibly resist the quirky charm of the brand’s new cowboy boots, you can score your own pair starting Oct. 23 for a limited time. The shoes somehow already have rave reviews on the Crocs website, which sums up the hype that’s sure to come once they finally drop. • Rihanna’s Massive Clutch Is Here to Tell You: Tiny Purses Are Out

Rihanna’s Massive Clutch Is Here to Tell You: Tiny Purses Are Out

Rihanna has spoken: tiny purses are out. [Insert dramatic gavel slam here.] On Oct. 9, the Fenty Beauty founder was spotted grabbing dinner in New York City carrying an enormous red clutch that could practically double as a duffle. The woven Bottega Veneta bag was impossible to miss as the mom of two made the sidewalk her runway in a gray Dries Van Noten coat, black Balenciaga “pantaboots,” Gucci sunglasses, and a diamond necklace.

With no top handle to grab or slip over the shoulder, Rihanna wedged the oversize pouch under one arm, leaving us to wonder what on earth was hiding within. Did she stash a week’s worth of takeout from the restaurant she dined at? (That’s our kinda meal prep, if so.) Perhaps the singer went on a pre-dinner shopping spree to score some new ‘fits for her two-month-old son Riot, or maybe she packed a hoodie to avoid stains on her fancy wool coat. With a bag of that size, all three options are plausible.

Hypothetical contents aside, Rihanna’s larger-than-life clutch eschews the micro handbags that’ve saturated the accessories scene for the past few years. Roomy totes are making a steady comeback, popping up on the spring 2023 runways for labels like Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, and Altuzarra. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are clearly on board with the return of carryalls; this past week alone, the latter lugged around two different brightly colored Bottega Veneta totes while celebrating his birthday in NYC. What Rihanna and A$AP Rocky say, goes — we don’t make the rules.

13 “Schitt’s Creek” Halloween Costume Ideas That Are *Just* Pretentious Enough

On the hunt for a funny pop culture Halloween costume all your friends will recognize? You can never go wrong with a “Schitt’s Creek”-inspired outfit. • The Open-Back Fashion Trend Has Hollywood in a Chokehold

The Open-Back Fashion Trend Has Hollywood in a Chokehold

Naked dresses and boob-window cutouts are slowly taking a back seat to the next big fashion trend on the rise: backless silhouettes. Celebrities are fueling the craze by wearing open-back outfits at red carpet events, fashion shows, and beyond. The phrase “business in the front, party in the back” has never been more applicable.

Backless dresses were a popular pick at the 2023 MTV VMAs in September, with singers Shakira, Kelsea Ballerini, and Dove Cameron wearing gowns that dipped so low, they nearly showed butt cleavage. The trend has popped up plenty during Fashion Month, too: Irina Shayk modeled a metallic halter dress with a completely open back on the Mowalola runway at London Fashion Week, while Hailey Bieber, Emma Chamberlain, and Cara Delevingne attended shows in back-exposing looks.

Stars aren’t only choosing backless outfits for fancy red carpet outings. Just take it from Dua Lipa, Jordyn Woods, and Jennifer Lopez, who’ve all repped the growing trend in their day-to-day lives this year. Lipa wore hers to eat gelato in Milan, Woods wore hers on vacation in the Philippines, and Lopez wore hers to celebrate her 54th birthday. Now that, folks, is what we like to call versatility.

To be clear, backless dresses and tops are by no means a new trend. The sultry silhouette cycles in and out of style every few years in various iterations. This time around, a bare back has seemingly become an accessory in its own right, eye-catching enough to replace flashy necklaces or statement heels. With fashion feeling more risqué and liberating following the pandemic, it’s hardly surprising to see open-back designs come back in full force alongside similarly sexy style trends like sheer materials, ab-baring cutouts, and plunging necklines.

Read ahead to relive some of the best backless fashion moments celebs have treated us to in recent months, and if you’re looking to conquer the trend yourself, be sure to check out our guide on how to go braless first.

  • How to Dress For a Football Game, as Taught by Our Favorite Celebs

How to Dress For a Football Game, as Taught by Our Favorite Celebs

Not sure what to wear to a football game? Allow our favorite celebrities and influencers to offer some inspiration. We have a renewed appreciation for game-day fashion this season, thanks in part to Taylor Swift’s recent Kansas City Chiefs game appearance. While cheering on rumored boyfriend Travis Kelce at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 24, the singer wore a white tank top, black denim shorts, and stylish pops of red to rep the Chiefs. Though much of the internet is focused on her current relationship status, Swift’s outing got us thinking about other famous fans who are always dressed to impress on the sidelines.

No discussion of game day style is complete without mentioning Simone Biles, whose Instagram is like a treasure trove of football game outfit ideas. The Olympic gymnast loves thoughtfully repping husband Jonathan Owens by wearing customized t-shirts, hoodies, and tank tops emblazoned with his name and team number. Biles isn’t the only WAG rolling up to the stadium in style every Sunday (or Monday or Thursday). Ciara, Olivia Culpo, and Camille Kostek also score sartorial touchdowns with their football game ensembles as they root for their respective partners.

When planning your game day look, the biggest factor to think about is the weather. If your home team regularly plays in cold weather, consider investing in a jacket you can wear on repeat all season long. (We’re particularly fond of vintage-looking team outerwear, which you can browse for on sites like Etsy and eBay.) For warmer games, denim shorts, cutoff tops, and oversize jerseys are some staples to shop for. Team merch also isn’t a requirement — finding different ways to mix and match your team’s colors is a fun challenge.

Ahead, we rounded up 23 stylish outfit ideas from our favorite celebrities and football WAGs, ranging from attainable to aspirational. Keep reading to soak up all the game day wardrobe inspiration before the next kickoff.

  • Ariana Madix’s Lightning Bolt Tank Top Is a Genius Scandoval Dig

Ariana Madix’s Lightning Bolt Tank Top Is a Genius Scandoval Dig

Ariana Madix is taking back her power, one lightning bolt at a time. On Sept. 22, the “Vanderpump Rules” star shared a mirror selfie on Instagram to show off her wavy blond hair — and potentially make a not-so-subtle dig at ex Tom Sandoval. “The only thing in my camera roll lately that isn’t dancing related,” she captioned the post, referencing her recent casting on “Dancing With the Stars.” In the photo, she’s wearing a white Lulu Simon Studio tank top decorated with rainbow lightning bolts — a symbol that came to represent Sandoval’s affair with costar Rachel Leviss. Yep, she did that.

For those unacquainted with Scandoval, Sandoval often wore a lightning bolt pendant as a nod to the logo for his restaurant TomTom. Leviss later purchased a similar lightning bolt necklace because it “was significant to who he became in my life,” she shared during the “Vanderpump Rules” season 10 reunion that aired in May. By repping the symbol all these months later, Madix is rewriting the narrative. She’s taking control. And her fans couldn’t be more proud. “Thank you for making lighting bolts happy in my head again,” one follower commented on her Instagram, while another added, “Reclaim 👏 those 👏lightning bolts 👏 slayyyyyyy.”

Madix frequently makes a statement with her fashion choices. Shortly after the news of Scandoval broke in March, she wore two head-turning revenge dresses — the first, a totally sheer lace gown for a “Watch What Happens Live” appearance, and the second, a red cutout set by Mônot for the explosive “Vanderpump Rules” reunion special. The reality star also released a line of merch throwing shade at Sandoval and Leviss, all available to purchase on her Team Ariana website. What will Madix reclaim next? Perhaps white nail polish?

  • Meghan Markle’s Bodycon Lace Dress Is Covered in Delicate Cutouts

Meghan Markle’s Bodycon Lace Dress Is Covered in Delicate Cutouts

Meghan Markle wrapped up her 2023 Invictus Games fashion tour on a colorful note. At the closing ceremony in Düsseldorf, Germany, on Sept. 16, the Duchess of Sussex wore a teal lace column dress by celebrity-adored brand Cult Gaia. The strapless ankle-length design was covered in floral embroidery, and the skirt featured delicate cutouts precisely made by lasers. It was an edgy, vibrant pick compared to some of the more subdued style choices of her past.

Markle accessorized the form-fitting dress with a gold Cartier Love bracelet, diamond hoop earrings by Kimai, and her favorite beige Aquazzura pumps, which she’s worn on repeat for years now. She attended the event with husband Prince Harry, who layered a navy suit over a black button-down shirt for the occasion.

At this year’s Invictus Games, Markle perfectly embodied the quiet-luxury fashion trend, stepping out in a series of monochromatic looks. The former “Suits” star paired a black and white J.Crew cardigan with Staud shorts to attend a wheelchair basketball competition on Sept. 13, and later that day, she changed into another affordable J.Crew sweater — this time, a black tank top — for the swimming finals. Other standout looks from the week include a white cable-knit Polo sweater vest, a black pleated Banana Republic shirt dress, and beige Cuyana separates.

Read ahead to admire Markle’s grand finale outfit at the Invictus Games, and then look back on her style evolution through the years for even more fashion inspiration.

  • The “How to Dress to Attract a Man” TikTok Trend Is Dismantling the Male Gaze

The “How to Dress to Attract a Man” TikTok Trend Is Dismantling the Male Gaze

If you need a refresher on the basics of sarcasm, the latest TikTok fashion challenge has you covered. Creators on the app are sharing tutorials for “how to dress to attract a man,” complete with wild outfit ideas that aren’t quite what you’d expect. The trend was started by 37-year-old Veronica Shavie, who posted a now-viral tutorial back in January. “Rule No. 1: make sure your hair is always long and lustrous and never put up,” she begins, setting the satirical tone by flashing her messy bun hairstyle.

“There is so much freedom and joy in completely rejecting patriarchal rules about how women should dress, speak, and behave.”

Shavie goes on to offer four more style tips for winning over men, doing the exact opposite of each one as the video continues. For rule No. 3 (“footwear should be dainty and delicate”), she zooms in on her chunky Dr. Martens combat boots, and rule No. 4 (“show off that waist at all times”) prompts her to show off an oversize band tee. “I got dressed and thought, this is a badass outfit and it breaks every conventional style rule,” Shavie tells POPSUGAR of what inspired her to create that first video. “I hope the message is that there is so much freedom and joy in completely rejecting patriarchal rules about how women should dress, speak, and behave.”

Since then, more than 9,000 TikTokers — including celebrities like Summer Walker, Olivia Rodrigo, and Hayley Kiyoko — have used her audio to create similar tutorials that give a big middle finger to the male gaze. The trend has taken on a life of its own, with some users incorporating absurd accessories like roller skates, Halloween masks, cardboard boxes, pool floats, and tutus to really drive home the point: wear whatever the hell you want, men be damned.

In total, the trend has amassed millions of views across TikTok, and Shavie says she’s “not surprised” that her message is resonating. “I think women are tired!” she says. “Tired of being told everything must be flattering. Tired of being told that we should alter ourselves in some way to be more palatable and desirable to men. Tired of performative inclusivity.”

It certainly struck a chord with actor and TV host Lilly Singh, who dropped her own “how to attract a man” fashion tutorial on Sept. 5 alongside a lengthy caption. “I don’t know if you can relate, but this trend hits a deep place in my soul,” she wrote on TikTok. “Perhaps because one of my earliest videos was ‘How to be the perfect Brown girl,’ which made commentary on the lengths women have to go to be accepted and desired. And even though I laugh at videos like this, the truth is, growing up I did spend a lot of time and effort into trying to be desirable.” She concluded her post, “Y’all a bunch of baddies. I love women. And I love being a woman.”

For Shavie, the trend’s mass appeal proves positive change is afoot. “There is a shift happening. We are taking back our power, our bodies and presenting in whatever way feels authentic to us.” What’s not to love about that? Watch some of our favorite tutorials ahead, and create your own “how to dress to attract a man” TikTok to get in on the fun.

  • Jodie Turner-Smith Shuts Down the Red Carpet in Nothing but a Giant Bow and Thong

Jodie Turner-Smith Shuts Down the Red Carpet in Nothing but a Giant Bow and Thong

Jodie Turner-Smith is a gift to us all — just check out her latest look for all the proof you need. On Sept. 14, the model and actor strolled up to Vogue World in London wearing a black thong bodysuit adorned with an enormous satin bow that couldn’t be missed. The giant adornment extended from her right shoulder down to encircle her left elbow and incorporated a large side cutout. The leg-baring number hails from Viktor & Rolf’s fall 2023 haute couture collection, which debuted on the runway in Paris two months ago.

Working with styling duo Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald, Turner-Smith amped up the glamour by accessorizing with black elbow-length opera gloves and diamond and sapphire jewelry. She finished the look with platform heels and rhinestone eye makeup for an additional touch of sparkle.

Bannerman and McDonald previously spoke to POPSUGAR about styling Turner-Smith for the 2022 Met Gala, where she wore a crystal-dripping Gucci dress with a pink chiffon skirt. “We [work with] women from different backgrounds, different cultures [to] show the world how they can be represented and how they too can feel beautiful, have opulence, have drama, have an elegance,” Bannerman shared, essentially listing off every word that comes to mind when Turner-Smith hits the red carpet.

Turner-Smith was in stylish company at the Vogue World event, which kicked off London Fashion Week. Sienna Miller, who’s currently expecting her second child, bared her baby bump in a voluminous two-piece Schiaparelli set reminiscent of a stylish loofah. Winnie Harlow also brought the drama in Zuhair Murad couture, Dove Cameron looked “Renaissance” World Tour ready in an all-silver Coach ensemble, and Simone Ashley proved the naked-dress trend is still going strong in Tamara Ralph couture. Other standout attendees included Gemma Chan, Nicola Coughlan, Ncuti Gatwa, Emilia Clarke, and Yasmin Finney.

Read ahead for an all-angles look at Turner-Smith’s latest head-turning outfit.
