A math lecturer at the University of Texas at Arlington is on leave after he was arrested on a possession of child pornography charge in Euless earlier this month.

Paul William Leafgreen was booked into the Tarrant County Jail on Oct. 2 but later bonded out. The 49-year-old has been accused of possessing between 100 and 500 images depicting the sexual abuse of children under the age of 18, according to the criminal complaint filed in Tarrant County district court on Oct. 8.

According to Leafgreen’s Facebook page, he started teaching at UTA in 2023. Before that, he worked at high schools in at least three North Texas school districts, including Carroll ISD, Fort Worth ISD and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD.

A UTA spokesperson confirmed Wednesday that Leafgreen is employed as a mathematics lecturer at the university. He’s been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, the spokesperson said.

Leafgreen’s defense attorney did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday.
