CUMMING, GA.- United States Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to be in Atlanta on Tuesday. On Sunday one of the four men that are in the running to be named to the Harris presidential ticket as vice president, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, was in Cumming for a rally. Around him was a large crowd of Harris and Democratic Party supporters waving “Harris for President” signs and wearing green “Kamala is Brat” buttons.

Upon taking the microphone that was stationed on the bed of a pickup truck parked in front of the Democratic Party of Forsyth County office, Bashear, who was in one of Georgia’s traditional Republican counties to support Harris, told the crowd he was in familiar territory by being on the bed of a pickup at political rallies.

“We win by staying true to our values, by bringing everyone together, we win by caring and fighting for every single vote in every single county,” Bashear said. “Every single one of you matters.”

Of the 227,887 residents in Forsyth County, more than 178,000 are registered voters, according to data from Georgia Votes. Georgia’s 16 electoral votes are crucial to both parties’ presidential bids.

Bashear said that the attacks by the Trump and Vance campaign on Harris’ record, and in some cases her intelligence and ability to hold the position of Commander-in-Chief, will not work on voters. During his speech he also mentioned Trump’s 34 felony convictions and multiple bankruptcies.

“In Georgia and across America every single vote counts,” he said.

One of those voters, R. Denise Grimes, was in attendance on Sunday and thought the level of excitement from the crowd was a good sign for Harris’s run to the White House.

“I’m so excited and hopeful for our future because we have a candidate who will get the country back on the track of openness, freedom, and knowledge,” Grimes, a DeKalb County resident, said.

A campaign office in East Point was opened on Friday and was full of supporters as Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA), Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA) and East Point Mayor Deanna Holiday Ingraham were all on hand to speak with Harris and democratic supporters about the upcoming election.

Along with Atlanta, Harris will be in Houston, Texas next week for the funeral of Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee. That will be Harris’ second trip to Houston in as many weeks and her third visit to Texas this month. She was in town to give the keynote speech at the American Federation of Teachers convention last Thursday.
