  • U.S. Polo Assn. Launches Iconic Legends Campaign and Targets Billion-Dollar Opportunity in India

U.S. Polo Assn. Launches Iconic Legends Campaign and Targets Billion-Dollar Opportunity in India

International Sports Power Brand Activates New E-Commerce Site Alongside Campaign

U.S. Polo Assn., the official brand of the United States Polo Association, and Arvind Fashions Ltd. (NSE:ARVINDFASN), aka Arvind, are proud to announce two major business milestones in India: the iconic Legends marketing campaign and the new U.S. Polo Assn. website launch. Both business strategies have been designed to help take U.S. Polo Assn. in India to the next level, reaching the company’s new target to be a billion-dollar power brand in the country.

According to a recent United Nations report, India has overtaken China as the world’s most populous nation. In fact, according to the report, India’s population is expected to reach 1.428 billion, compared to China’s 1.425 billion. The U.S. Polo Assn. brand’s popularity in India has only grown with the population, making India prime to be the global brand’s fastest-growing market. The tremendous growth in popularity and ultimately market share is not without effort, which includes a strategy focused on both brick-and-mortar and e-commerce, as well as overall brand marketing through storytelling.

As one of India’s leading casualwear power brands, the multi-billion-dollar, global, sport-inspired U.S. Polo Assn. brand has launched an exclusive brand-specific website USPoloAssn.in to further enhance digital offerings for customers and provide easier access to its product offerings. U.S. Polo Assn. is the first brand in the Arvind Fashions Limited family of businesses to go live with an exclusive brand website. Previously, the brand was listed on all leading online platforms and NNNow, the official brand store and digital destination for Arvind Fashions Limited.

“Arvind has been a tremendous partner to the U.S. Polo Assn. brand, and we are excited about our future as a power brand, targeting a billion-dollar business over the long term in one of the world’s most important markets,” said J. Michael Prince, President and CEO of USPA Global Licensing, the company that manages and oversees the U.S. Polo Assn. brand. “The execution of our strategic plan in India will further solidify our position as one of the top casual menswear brands in the country.”

USPoloAssn.in will carry the entirety of the brand’s product offerings across menswear and kidswear. The website will also feature the brand’s footwear and innerwear collection, as well as the newly introduced USPA womenswear line.

The newly launched website will be hosting the “Legends Forever Play Together” campaign, featuring Arjun Rampal and Milind Soman, the ‘legends of the modeling industry’, and Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhuphati, the ‘legends of tennis.’ The campaign, while celebrating their legendary stature, also shows these icons reminiscing about their fondest memories of where their journey began.

Legends further showcases themes of fashion, style, and nostalgia, as well as bonding between the stars, while presenting the cool and sporty factor of the brand. In the multi-channel campaign, the Legends can be seen sporting the all-new Autumn-Winter ’23 Collection from U.S. Polo Assn. The collection features timeless classics with a modern twist, such as polos, denim, oxfords, sweaters, jackets and tee shirts.

The multi-billion-dollar, global brand’s presence has also exploded in India, having successfully launched new identity stores, featuring modern décor, an all-white interior, and authenticity through elements of the sport of polo, like polo-themed accessories and game broadcasts, for which the brand is based. U.S. Polo Assn. even launched five stores simultaneously on Sept. 17, 2022, in the city of Bengaluru, Arvind’s corporate headquarters.

“U.S. Polo Assn. is an example of ‘phygital’ retail, where we are blending the best of digital and physical channels to enhance both and deliver the best customer experience, ultimately enabling enhanced omnichannel engagement,” said Shailesh Chaturvedi, Managing Director and CEO, Arvind Fashions Ltd. “The combination of the very special and iconic Legends Campaign, the exciting new website and our revamped stores will now allow U.S. Polo Assn. to immerse consumers in our unique brand story across all major touchpoints.”

U.S. Polo Assn., the official brand of the United States Polo Association (USPA), is the Official Apparel Sponsor for the USA Team in the biggest rivalry in the sport of polo, the Westchester Cup. Held at the USPA National Polo Center (NPC) – Wellington, Florida, on Friday, March 31, 2023, the United States will host England in this prestigious international competition.

The illustrious Westchester Cup has a 137-year-old history where the United States and England have challenged each other a total of 19 times, with the last match played in 2019. Luxury designer Tiffany & Co. created the coveted, sterling silver Westchester Cup trophy for the first game dating back to 1886, and the trophy is currently held by the USA Team.

U.S. Polo Assn. is proudly outfitting the USA Team in the Westchester Cup with custom-designed performance jerseys and USPA Pro apparel. Official event merchandise will be available at the Retail Shop at NPC, open Friday, March 31 from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. ET next to the 7th Chukker, as well as online at USPAPro.com. Official Westchester Cup merchandise includes event-branded tee shirts, hoodies, and caps.

“Bringing the Westchester Cup rivalry, with its great athleticism and sportsmanship, back to United States soil for the first time since 2019 is going to be a memorable experience for players and sports fans alike,” said Stewart Armstrong, Chairman of the USPA. “We’ve seen so much growth across the sport of polo in recent years so it’s thrilling to have this highly competitive and exciting event at the new NPC, plus airing on ESPN’s platforms for the first time in polo’s history.”

Played on the U.S. Polo Assn. Stadium Field 1, fans can watch the competition up close from either the stadium, private boxes, field side tailgates or reservable hospitality tents. For those unable to attend, ESPN allows sports fans to tune into the action of the 2023 Westchester Cup for the first time ever on ESPN platforms. Check your local listings or click HERE for air times and channels.

A victory in 2019 marked the first win for the United States after four consecutive losses to England. The USA Team has emerged victorious on 12 occasions in the competition’s history and is currently defending the winning title in the upcoming 2023 Westchester Cup.

“Hosting the Westchester Cup, one of the biggest rivalries in polo, on American soil and connecting with sports fans around the globe through our relationship with ESPN is a major highlight of the 2023 Polo Season here in the United States,” said J. Michael Prince, President and CEO of USPA Global Licensing, the company that oversees the U.S. Polo Assn. brand. “We are proud to support the USA Team as the Official Team Sponsor and root them on for yet another victory in 2023.”

The USA Team boasts accomplished players, each with a decorated career in the sport of polo. Team Captain and newly inducted Polo Hall of Famer Jeff Hall (7), returns to compete in the Westchester Cup, alongside Jared Zenni (7), who is the only U.S. player returning from the victorious 2019 USA Team. The two remaining players, Nico Escobar (6), who just last year helped USA Team win Silver in the XII FIP World Polo Championship, and Matt Coppola (5), are both making their Westchester Cup debut. The England Team consists of Team Captain Tomas Beresford (7), James Beim (6), Max Charlton (6), and Mark Tomlinson (6).

“It’s an honor to be competing for the third time in the Westchester Cup alongside other high-goal polo players and teammates,” said Jeff Hall. “Together with my team, we are honored to represent the United States in such a historic and patriotic game and hope to again bring home a USA victory.”

U.S. Polo Assn. Named Official Apparel Partner of the British Beach Polo Championships 2022 in Sandbanks Beach, England

    Press Release

    Jul 12, 2022

U.S. Polo Assn., the official brand of the United States Polo Association (USPA), in collaboration with its UK licensee Brand Machine Group (BMG), was the Official Apparel Partner for the British Beach Polo Championships 2022, played July 8-9 at Sandbanks Beach in Poole, England.

Through this partnership, U.S. Polo Assn. outfitted the polo players in custom jerseys, provided staff attire as well as branded caps for attendees, social media competitions, and global promotion of the event across various digital platforms. This is the second consecutive year U.S. Polo Assn. has partnered with the British Beach Polo Championships tournament.

Now in its 15th year, the British Beach Polo Championships, also known as Sandpolo, is the largest beach polo event in the world. Sandpolo is a unique way to watch and play the sport of polo on the stunning shores of Sandbanks Beach, a prestigious destination known for its luxury properties and pristine sand. A twist on traditional polo, Sandpolo is played with an oversized orange ball designed to be easily seen in the sand but still move at a high speed.

In the sold-out Sandbanks Beach Arena, thousands of Sandpolo fans were close enough to the action to see all the fast-paced competition between Team Whispering Angel and Team Singha during the two-day event. In the end, it was Team Whispering Angel (Chris Gregory, Adolfo Casabal & Hazel Jackson) that took the British Beach Championships 2022 title with a 19-11 victory against Team Singha (Garrie Renucci, Ollie Cork & Jimmy Wood).

“The UK continues to be one of U.S. Polo Assn.’s fastest growing markets, and we are thrilled to again partner with the British Beach Polo Championships to showcase another version of polo in a great destination,” said J. Michael Prince, President and CEO of USPA Global Licensing, which manages the global, multi-billion-dollar U.S. Polo Assn. brand. “Aligning our growth strategy with Sandpolo is an opportunity to expose new fans and global consumers through an amazing experience to the sport of polo and the authenticity of the U.S. Polo Assn. brand.”

Celebrating the 15th anniversary of Sandpolo, the entertainment for players and attendees over the two-day event included glamorous after-parties with themes of ‘Boogie on the Beach’ and ‘Encore Beach Party.’ Musical entertainment included a 14-piece Ibiza Classics Orchestra, The Real Thing, Soul II Soul’s Jazzy B, and an array of DJs.

“We’d like to thank U.S. Polo Assn. for partnering with the British Beach Polo Championships as the Official Apparel Sponsor for the second year in a row,” said Johnny Wheeler, the Founder and Director of Sandpolo. “Now celebrating our 15th year at Sandbanks, the Sandpolo event continues to receive great exposure and be an incredible experience, thanks in part to U.S. Polo Assn. and the love for polo from sports fans around the world.”

Worth noting, U.S. Polo Assn. and BMG has an aggressive growth strategy in the UK, opening its first retail store at the McArthurGlen Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, which houses the latest men’s and women’s collections from the global, sport-inspired brand. The elevated store design concept is set over 2000 sq. ft., complete with aspirational imagery, the brand’s signature stripe detailing, tech-driven touchless pay, and LED screens for streaming photoshoots and some of the world’s most exciting polo games.

    Press Release

    Jul 8, 2022

U.S. Polo Assn., the official brand of the United States Polo Association (USPA), in conjunction with its licensing partner in the United Kingdom, Brand Machine Group (BMG), announced it served as the Official Apparel and Team Sponsor for the 2022 Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup. Held at the impressive Windsor Great Park, Flemish Farm’s Guards Polo Club hosted the event on July 6 for the second consecutive year. The Club is one of only four polo clubs in the United Kingdom that stage elite high-goal tournaments, such as the Royal Charity Polo Cup.

The day included several games featuring His Royal Highness, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, who was team captain for the U.S. Polo Assn. Team. The other teams competing in the event included Team Monterosso/Vikings and Team BP Polo. The Duke of Cambridge played extremely well, highlighting his athleticism and teamwork on the field as he led the U.S. Polo Assn. Team to a strong showing on the day.

“It is an honor for The Duke of Cambridge to captain the U.S. Polo Assn. Team and for our brand to be the Official Apparel and Team Sponsor for the prestigious Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup once again,” said J. Michael Prince, President and CEO of USPA Global Licensing, which manages the global, multi-billion-dollar U.S. Polo Assn. brand.

U.S. Polo Assn. designed custom performance jerseys for all participating polo players, umpires, and flaggers. Attendees of the event received handcrafted silk U.S. Polo Assn. scarves, pocket squares, and special event caps. The annual event raised funds and global awareness for several important charities that are supported by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, including Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, The Forward Trust, The Anna Freud Centre, The Foundling Museum, The Passage, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice (EACH), London’s Air Ambulance, Mountain Rescue England & Wales, SHOUT, and Family Action.

“Philanthropy is at the heart and soul of the U.S. Polo Assn. brand, and we are proud to sponsor events that benefit important charitable causes around the world and positively impact the lives of others through the sport of polo,” continued Prince. “Supporting high-profile and philanthropic events in the United Kingdom is yet another example of U.S. Polo Assn.’s authentic connection and love for the sport of polo.”

Guards Polo Club is considered one of the largest and most important clubs in Europe in terms of memberships and number of grounds. Located within the Great Park at Windsor, the Club celebrates more than six decades of premier polo in the outstanding natural surroundings of Smith’s lawn. Founded in 1955 as the Household Brigade Polo Club, with His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh as President, the name was changed to the Guards Polo Club in 1969. At Flemish Farms, further into the Great Park at Windsor, Guards Polo Club has 120 stables and two additional polo fields with a spectacular backdrop of Windsor Castle.
