    US Bank Altitude Reserve Discontinued?

There are rumors that the US Bank Altitude Reserve credit card could be discontinued next week. This is a popular card that has a $400 annual fee but earns 3X points on eligible travel purchases and mobile wallet spending, and comes with $325 in annual credits for eligible travel purchases and dining.

The rumor was first shared by Stan The Credit Frog in YouTube. I’m not sure how reliable the information is, but the card is supposed to stop taking new application right before the launch of the new US Bank Smartly credit card.

If you are thinking of applying for this card soon, then it’s probably best to do it now, just in case the rumors are true. Sadly, the welcome bonus is only 50,000 points. It has also been possible to get the welcome bonus when upgrading to the US Bank Altitude Reserve, but it’s not guaranteed.

US Bank Altitude Reserve credit card was briefly removed from the US Bank site in 2020, but then it resumed taking applications again. Let’s see what happens nest week!

According to a rumor shared by YouTuber Stan The Credit Frog, the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card will be discontinued within the next week. It’s possible this will coincide with the launch of the U.S. Bank Smartly card.  Previously the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card stopped accepting applications for a few months before returning. I have no idea how reliable this rumor is at all.

But if you are looking to add this card to your wallet, then there’s a way to do so without a hard pull.

Upgrade to Altitude Reserve to Earn Bonus

The US Bank Altitude Reserve welcome bonus is available to current US Bank cardholders who upgrade their card to the Altitude Reserve. There are multiple data points of this working (here and here) in recent months.

US Bank Says It Will Fix Mobile Wallet Earning Issues on Altitude Reserve

The U.S. Bank Altitude® Reserve Visa Infinite® Card is a great product for everyday purchases. It earns 3x on purchases made with mobile wallets such as Apple Pay®, Google Pay™ and Samsung Pay.

However, in recent months, many cardholders have been earning only 1x on these purchases. On top of that, U.S. Bank has been unable to come up with a solution.

One redditor now reports that a fix is finally on the way. This is what was said in an official U.S. Bank regarding the Altitude® Reserve Visa Infinite® Card issues on 3x mobile wallet earning:

We recently identified a technical issue impacting the earning of 3X points on Mobile Wallet spending on some Altitude Reserve Cards. Specifically, some Mobile Wallet transactions that are eligible to earn 3X points have only been earning 1 point.

Please rest assured that we are working to fix the error, and in the meantime, we will be crediting the appropriate point balances to all impacted cardmembers. If your account has been impacted, you will see additional points deposited into your account within the next 2-3 weeks.

While we work to fix this error as quickly as possible, if you have not already done so, you can remove your Altitude Reserve card from your digital wallet and then re-add it to fix the technical issue immediately. Again, regardless of whether you take this action, all points will be remediated to your account if you have any impacted transactions. We apologize for any inconvenience and truly value your business.
