  • Jimmy Kimmel Tears Up in Return to Late Night

    [ad_1]

After a week’s suspension following controversial on air comments, Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to the air — although not in every area of the country, as the two local affiliate groups that threatened to preempt the show last week continued to do so even after Disney and ABC decided to bring Kimmel back on Tuesday September 23.

And on Tuesday’s show, Kimmel’s monologue did address the controversy that had swirled around the show for days. “You understand that it was never my intention to make light of a murder of a young man,” Kimmel said at one point. “I don’t think there’s anything funny about it.”

He added “Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group for the actions — it was a deeply disturbed individual. That was really the opposite of the point I was trying to make, but to some, that felt ill-timed or unclear or maybe both, and for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you’re upset. If the situation was reversed, there’s a good chance I would have felt the same way. I have many friends and family members on the other side who I love and remain close to, even though we don’t agree on politics at all. I don’t think the murderer who shot Charlie Kirk represents anyone, this was a sick person who believed violence was a solution, and it isn’t.”

Kimmel, who became teary-eyed during his monologue, did say that he disagreed with Disney’s decision to take him off the air; he also thanked him for putting them back on the air, despite the fact that doing so “puts them at risk.” Of President Trump’s celebratory reaction to Kimmel’s suspension last week, Kimmel added “Our leader celebrates Americans losing their livelihoods because he can’t take a joke.”

“A government threat to silence a comedian the government doesn’t like is anti-American,” Kimmel said.

Kimmel also praised Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika Kirk for forgiving her late husband’s alleged shooter. (“She forgave him,” Kimmel said. “That is an example we should follow. If you believe in the teachings of Jesus, as I do, there it was.”)

Disney and ABC took Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air last Wednesday, over comments Kimmel made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on the Tuesday September 16 edition of his show. After the episode aired, two owners of local television stations, Nexstar Media and Sinclair, said they would not air Jimmy Kimmel Live! moving forward. Their announcements that they intended to take the show off their airwaves came after Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr said on a podcast that network affiliates (like Nextstar and Sinclair) should “push back” against ABC and the show over Kimmel’s words.

In bringing Kimmel back to late night TV after a week’s suspension, Disney said in a statement “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

Nexstar and Sinclair did not air Kimmel’s return. In a statement, Nexstar said “we stand by that decision [removing the show] pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve.” Sinclair said they will be replacing the show “with news programming” and that “discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return.”

  • ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ to Return Tuesday Following Suspension

    [ad_1]

The Walt Disney Company and ABC announced today that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return to the air starting tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23. Disney suspended production of the show last week after Kimmel’s remarks regarding the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

In announcing the news, Disney said…

Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.

Disney and ABC took Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air last Wednesday, over comments Kimmel made on the Tuesday edition of his show, when he said things in the country “hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

After the show aired, several owners of local television stations around the country, Nexstar Media and Sinclair, said they would not air Jimmy Kimmel Live! over his words. Their announcements that they intended to take the show off their airwaves came after Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr said on a podcast that network affiliates (like Nextstar and Sinclair) should “push back” against ABC and the show over Kimmel’s words.

While some, including President Donald Trump, celebrated the news of Kimmel’s indefinite suspension, others protested Disney’s decision. Earlier today, some 400 celebrities released a letter with the American Civil Liberties Union decrying Kimmel’s suspension as an attack on the freedom of speech and saying that the government pressuring networks to fire people who disagreed with them “strike at the heart of what it means to live in a free country.”

It’s as yet unclear how Kimmel will address the show being removed from the air, or whether he will offer an apology.

  • Adam Carolla Has Surprising Response to Jimmy Kimmel Suspension

    [ad_1]

Comedian and podcast host Adam Carolla has been friends with Jimmy Kimmel for some time now, and recently weighed in on Kimmel’s suspension following comments he made about Charlie Kirk.

What did Adam Carolla say about Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension?

Carolla, who co-hosted The Man Show with Kimmel from 1999-2004, now hosts his own podcast, The Adam Carolla Show, and is known for his now mostly right-leaning views. However, Carolla characterized Kimmel’s comments as “inaccurate,” and went on to defend his longtime friend.

“I think a lot of people want me to comment on it. It’s a weird thing,” Carolla said (via THR). “The right and the left are always sort of misinterpreting things. He was inaccurate about something. It wasn’t like he was necessarily attacking Charlie Kirk. He was trying to dump it on Trump and inaccurate about it.”

Carolla went on to say that he knows Jimmy as a “good guy,” and said the pair still keep in touch despite their differences.

“I know Jimmy to be a very good guy and a generous guy, and I’ve always said that about him. And I realize that while everyone else knows Jimmy as a caricature, I know him as a person,” said Carolla. “When I run into people that don’t know Jimmy as a person, [Bill] O’Reilly or Dave Rubin, Dennis Prager, and they go, ‘what’s up with your buddy Jimmy?’ Well, I know him, so that’s why I don’t think of him like you think of him. But on the other hand, they think of you as a cartoon character too… I know Jimmy is a human and I know how good he is and I know how decent he is, and we disagree politically, but who cares? We disagree on pizza toppings as well, but it doesn’t mean we don’t talk.”

On Wednesday night, ABC halted production on Jimmy Kimmel Live after the FCC openly threatened to take action against the network and its license following Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s death. During his last show as of now, Kimmel commented on the potential political leanings of Kirk’s killer as well as how the MAGA movement was reacting to it.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” said Kimmel during his monologue.

So far, Kimmel’s show is considered on indefinite pause. Sinclair Broadcasting, which owns ABC affiliate stations alongside Nexstar, has said that in lieu of Kimmel’s upcoming Friday show, ABC will air a special memorial service to Kirk that other affiliates are free to also run. The company also demanded that Kimmel apologize for the comments and make a “meaningful personal donation” to Kirk’s family, as well as Turning Point USA.

  • Man in Scuba Suit Robs $20,000 From Disney World Restaurant

    [ad_1]

Authorities in central Florida are searching for a man who robbed a restaurant in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs while dressed in scuba gear.

WFTV9 in Orlando reports the creative thief swam up to the Paddlefish restaurant after hours in the early morning of Monday (September 15), where he stole somewhere between $10,000 and $20,000, according to two pending charges for robbery and grand theft.

Formerly known as Fulton’s Crab House, and before that the Empress Lilly, Paddlefish is a restaurant located inside a stationary replica riverboat that sits in Village Lake at Disney Springs, formerly known as Downtown Disney. The 200-foot-long “boat” is actually a building with a submerged concrete foundation, and was first erected in 1976.

A report from the Orange County Deputies department says that after the man entered the restaurant, he stored his wet suit and scuba gear, entered the manager’s office, where cash from the night before was being counted and put into a safe, and forced two employees into a corner of the room, telling them to get on their knees and close their eyes.

READ MORE: 11 Forgotten Disney Animated Movies That Deserve to Be Rediscovered

It’s believed the bandit also tied up the employees, who told investigators that the man, who did not appear to have any weapons on him, left within two minutes, retrieved his scuba gear, and seemingly swam away with the cash.

After freeing themselves the staff members called 911 to report the bizarre crime. Thankfully, neither employee was hurt during the ordeal, and the restaurant opened as normal to the public at noon Monday.

The man was described as about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, wearing tight black clothing, a blue beanie, and no shoes. A CTV image released by the police department shows the suspect appearing to spray paint a security camera prior to the crime.

An immediate search for the thief following the watery robbery yielded no immediate results, and police are still on the lookout for the aquatic criminal mastermind.

  • ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Renewed for a Third Season on Disney+

    [ad_1]

After a rocky start, Daredevil: Born Again looks like its sticking around for the foreseeable future.

Variety reports that the series has been “officially” renewed for a third season on Disney+, noting that “the show will begin shooting with stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in early 2026.”

The first season of the show premiered in early March of 2025. A second season of the series has already been shot and is expected to debut in the spring of 2026 on Disney+.

The news marks a successful turnaround for a show that underwent a total creative upheaval during production of its first episodes. After filming of Born Again’s first season paused during the 2023 Hollywood strikes, the show was reportedly the subject of a creative “revamp,” with its original head writers “quietly let go” by Marvel. Dario Scardapane stepped in as showrunner at that point, reworking some of the material that had previously been shot, and adding some of his own.

When first announced, Born Again’s first season was expected to consist of 18 episodes. After its creative overhaul, only 9 episodes aired on Disney+, with the other nine held back for the as-yet-unreleased second season.

Born Again was a continuation of the earlier Daredevil TV series that aired for three seasons on Netflix as part of a whole miniature universe of interconnected Marvel shows on the service that also included Jessica JonesLuke CageIron FistThe Punisher, and The Defenders.

Jon Bernthal’s Punisher was resurrected as a member of Born Again’s supporting cast along with stars Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin. Cox has also appeared as Daredevil in Spider-Man No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

  • ABC Pulls ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ From Schedule Indefinitely Over Viral Charlie Kirk Comments

    [ad_1]

ABC says it is taking its late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, off the air “indefinitely” over comments its host, Jimmy Kimmel, made regarding the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The news comes shortly after Nexstar, which owns several dozen local affiliates that air ABC programming (including Jimmy Kimmel Live!), announced it would preempt the show for the foreseeable future over Kimmel’s remarks.

And that announcement came shortly after Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr said on a podcast that affiliates should “push back” against the network and the show.

READ MORE: The Best Streaming Shows Nobody’s Watching

The comments in question aired during the Tuesday edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, when Kimmel said “we hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Kirk was killed on September 10 during a debate at Utah Valley University. Authorities arrested a suspect in the case two days later.

    Nexstar’s earlier statement read…

Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located.

Nexstar operates 28 ABC affiliates around the country. The company is currently awaiting regulatory approval of a deal to acquire TEGNA Inc., which also owns numerous local television stations.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! has aired on ABC since 2003. Over 3500 episodes have been broadcast since that time with Kimmel as host. ABC said on Wednesday that Jimmy Kimmel Live! is now being “pre-empted indefinitely.” Kimmel himself has yet to comment on the news.

  • Central Perk From ‘Friends’ Is Opening in New York City

    [ad_1]

Central Perk is coming to Manhattan, and this time it’s not just a pop-up or limited fan event.

The iconic coffee shop featured in Friends is finally getting its very own permanent location in New York City.

A modernized (but still cozy) version of Central Perk Coffee Co. will soon open its doors in Times Square, offering Friends fans and tourists alike the opportunity to grab a cuppa and curl up on Rachel, Ross, Phoebe, Joey, Monica, and Chandler’s favorite orange couch.

The café, located at the corner of 7th Avenue and 47th Street, will feature Friends-inspired food and artisanal beverages conceived by Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio.

READ MORE: 10 Cozy TV Shows Perfect for Fall

According to a conceptual rendering of the storefront, the coffee shop will feature a replica of the show’s orange sofa set piece and a neon sign that reads “The One With…,” perfect for social media photo ops.

The shop will also sell take-home coffee blends and special Friends and Central Perk merchandise.

“Central Perk is one of the most iconic landmarks in television history. After the incredible response in Boston, bringing Central Perk to Times Square isn’t just the next step — it’s a homecoming,” Peter van Roden, EVP of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, told Variety in a statement.

“This is about delivering an experience in the heart of Manhattan, where the story began, and letting fans from around the world step into a space that’s both nostalgic yet freshly reimagined. There’s no better place than New York City to celebrate the legacy of Friends and to continue building on the connection fans feel with Central Perk,” van Roden added.

This will mark the second permanent location of a Central Perk Coffee Co. shop following the 2023 opening of the company’s Boston location.

Central Perk New York City is scheduled to open in Times Square sometime in the fall.

  • Euphoria Season 3 Release Date Window Set for Zendaya-Led HBO Show

    [ad_1]

Euphoria fans got a surprise update this weekend, with the show’s third season release date window being revealed.

When is the Euphoria Season 3 release date window?

Speaking to Variety while at the Emmys over the weekend, HBO head Casey Bloys spoke about a litany of content coming up for the iconic network. When it comes to Euphoria Season 3, though, Bloys was surprisingly open about when to expect the third season of the Zendaya-led show.

“It’ll be the spring, but we don’t have a date confirmed yet,” said Bloys when he was asked about when fans might expect a premiere date for Euphoria Season 3. It’s unclear exactly when the show will arrive, but it does seem to be sooner than some fans previously thought.

Euphoria’s third season has been an up-and-down production. Initially, Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and the rest of the cast of Euphoria were set to begin filming on Season 3 in 2024, but HBO announced that it had postponed production, with stars told to pursue other opportunities while creator Sam Levinson worked on the third season.

Shortly after the postponement, reports began to surface that people at HBO were unsure if a third season would ever happen due to the different visions that the creative team for the show had.

According to reports at the time, early drafts of Season 3 stories were seen as unsatisfying to HBO, with Levinson’s original vision for the new series featuring a five-year time jump. HBO was reportedly happy with the storylines given to Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi’s characters in the early drafts; however, the company took issue with Zendaya’s proposed character arc, which saw her working as a private detective.

Now, though, it seems as if things are progressing well for the show’s highly anticipated third and potentially final season.

  • Emmy Winners Nearly Cost the Boys & Girls Clubs $100,000 By Giving Long Acceptance Speeches

    [ad_1]

Everyone hates when awards shows go long. And the number one reason why they go long are the acceptance speeches. They’re the ultimate variable. People have waited their whole lives to win a prize and to thank their mom, their grandfather, their first drama teacher, their agent, their team, their manager, their dog, their whatever. See? Just writing the first names that came to my mind went on for way too long.

As part of an amusing effort to cut down on longer speeches — and to generate coverage like this very article — this year’s Emmys host Nate Bargatze instituted a little game that ran throughout the show. To start the night, Bargatze announced a $100,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America … with a catch.

Every Emmy winner got 45 seconds to give their speech. They could thank whoever they wanted in that time. But for every second their speech went under 45 seconds, Bargatze would donate an additional $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs. So if someone spoke for 40 seconds, that was $5,000 more dollars for the kids. Yay kids!

But there was a cruel catch as well. For every second a winner went over the 45 second deadline, Bargatze would subtract $1,000.

So the biggest storyline of the night was not whether The Studio would win every award (spoilers: it pretty much did) or whether anyone could stop Adolescence from running the table in its categories (spoilers: they could not). No, all the suspense was on that donation. At one point it was up to $106,000. Hey that’s great! At another point it was all the way down to -$26,000. Stephen Colbert talked a lot after he won Best Talk Series. Can you blame him? CBS canceled his Emmy winning show.

At the end of the night, Bargatze didn’t even share the final total with the audience, saying it was so low it was embarrassing. Rather than force the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to cough up tens of thousands of dollars to make good on the wager, CBS and Bargatze said they would give a total donation of $350,000 to the organization.

Kudos to the Emmys and Bargatze for giving generously to a good cause, and to adding a little excitement to the Emmys. Jeers to those darn awards winners who could not keep their speeches short and could have helped raise even more money for these deserving kids. Oh well.

  • ‘The Witcher’ Sets Season 4 Return Date With New Geralt

    [ad_1]

When The Witcher returns for its fourth season, things will look a little different.

Most fundamentally, there’s a new Geralt of Rivia, Liam Hemsworth, replacing Henry Cavill in the central role on the show following its first three seasons on Netflix.

Netflix announced the show’s official return date this weekend — and with it, unveiled the new teaser for the fourth season, including plenty of Hemsworth now playing Geralt of Rivia. It’s the first full look as Hemsworth as the character. Watch it below:

READ MORE: Great Netflix Movies You’ve Probably Never Seen

Speaking with Netflix’s Tudum website, The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said of the upcoming episodes…

One of the things we always say is that it wouldn’t be The Witcher if everything ended happily … This is the beginning of a two-season journey for our family to finally reunite and be together — hopefully forever.

Hissrich added “show up, be willing to be surprised, be willing to accept that things look different, and know that the core of what you love is still there … we also have this amazing opportunity, halfway through a series, to relaunch it — to say, ‘Things are different, we’re coming out of the gate with a bang, and it’s bigger and better than ever.’”

Here is the upcoming season’s official synopsis:

After the Continent-altering events of Season Three, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri find themselves separated by a raging war and countless enemies. As their paths diverge, and their goals sharpen, they stumble on unexpected allies eager to join their journeys. And if they can accept these found families, they just might have a chance at reuniting for good…

The Witcher Season 4 premieres on Netflix on October 30. Netflix has already renewed the show for a fifth season, which is planned as the series’ last.

  • 10 Cozy TV Shows Perfect for Fall

    [ad_1]

As autumn descends upon us not so unlike the crunchy golden leaves that mark the season, you may feel yourself pulled toward your bed or couch after work, drawn by the comfort of a cozy TV show perfect for fall.

The annual time of falling leaves, warm cups of pumpkin-spice-whatever, cooler temperatures, and shorter days brings with it a natural yearning to curl up with a familiar slice of feel-good television as we try to unwind from the bright, high energy of summer and prepare for the dark, wintry days ahead.

It’s a time of transition, nostalgia, and even homesickness for some, as holidays beckon us to visit our families and back-to-school days spark new beginnings for students in elementary school through university.

Thankfully, plenty of TV shows over the years, both new and old, have delivered a certain sense of fall familiarity, whether through their crisp, mellow atmosphere and warm aesthetic, relatable themes of family and school, or even spooky story lines that conjure images of Halloween and October chills.

READ MORE: 10 Great Canceled Netflix Shows That Deserved a Second Season

Many fans have pointed to Gilmore Girls, for instance, as emblematic of autumn due to its sentimental small-town setting and narrative focus on family, school, and inevitable change—all things that align with the traditional hallmarks of the fall season. Gossip Girl also kindles the warm ‘n’ toasty energy of autumn thanks to its dark academia vibes and status as a relaxing yet compelling comfort-watch.

Other shows, such as Wednesday and Supernatural, are autumnal for a very different reason. With their eerie horror-friendly elements, macabre story lines, dark atmospheres, and focus on all things supernatural and spooky, such series plays with audiences’ sense of nostalgia and excitement for the Halloween holiday, itself a symbol of the fall season.

Whether you’re in the mood for something cozy and chill or creepy and chilling, we’ve got 10 TV shows in mind that are excellent contenders for your next autumn binge-watch. Grab your thickest sweater, pour yourself a cup of something hot, curl up on your couch, and hit play on any of these perfect TV shows for fall.

  • I Ate ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Mystery Dip

    [ad_1]

It’s not every day that someone mails you a briefcase full of dip.

But earlier this week a package arrived at my doorstep with a metal box inside. It contained dip. And not just any dip … streaming TV show branded dip.

It is officially called “Oliver’s Dip,” and it is inspired by the TV series Only Murders in the Building which, coincidence of coincidences, just returned for its fifth season on Hulu. If you’re a fan of the show (and I am), you know that Oliver Putnam, the character played by Martin Short, loves dips. They’re basically all he eats. To him, a dip is a meal unto itself; a bold stance that I, for one, wholly endorse. So a dip in Oliver’s honor makes a lot of sense.

But the folks at Tostitos took things even further. They not only gave Oliver his own dip, in keeping with Only Murders in the Building’s subject matter, they also kept the flavor of said dip a secret. Yes, this is mystery dip for a mystery television show.

The only thing that’s not a mystery here is why they sent some to me. It’s because I have, through no fault of my own, become a connoisseur of foods based on movies and television shows. Just a few days ago I guzzled Child’s Play soda. Today I’m gonna eat Only Murders in the Building dip. What a life I lead. My children are confused by my job on a daily basis. (To be honest, so am I.)

In another curious twist, Oliver’s Dip is not available in stores at this point. The only way to get some is through Tostos’ Instagram account.

READ MORE: I Drank All of Fanta’s Slasher Movie Sodas

Let’s go in for a closer look.

Tostitos’ Only Murders in the Building Mystery Dip

In honor of the hit mystery series on Hulu — where Martin Short’s character loves dips — Tostitos has created “Oliver’s Dip.” Its flavor is a mystery.

Now I have eaten mystery themed food before; a couple years ago, Netflix and Van Leeuwen made a mystery ice cream flavor in honor of Glass Onion. That was, well, disgusting. (It was onion ice cream. Onion!!) So no matter what this mystery dip is, it couldn’t possibly be that bad, right? Right?

Let’s find out. You can see (and hear!) inside the case, and watch my reaction to sampling Oliver’s Dip for the first time, below.

I tip my cap to the Tostitos folks for going way above and beyond on theming here. I can’t say the flavor set my heart aflame (or, more importantly, given its jalapeño contentmy mouth on fire), but a mystery dip for Only Murders in the Building is precisely the sort of deranged idea that I would suggest if someone slapped the show’s logo on a bag of plain old pretzels and called it a day.

Now if only someone would create some Brazzos peanut brittle, I’d be really happy.

  • Star Wars: Fan-Favorite Character Will Return in Future Lucasfilm Project

A fan-favorite character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars is set to make a return sometime in the future, according to the voice actor of the character.

What fan-favorite Star Wars: The Clone Wars character is set to return?

Speaking to The Direct in a recent interview, legendary voice actor Jim Cummings confirmed that his character Hondo Ohnaka will return in some capacity. Cummings told fans to “stay tuned” on future information on Ohnaka, but did tease that he’s from far done in the world of Star Wars.

“I think you’re gonna have to stay tuned, because Hondo is not done yet,” teased Cummings, who went on to say Ohnaka is a favorite performance of his. “He’s one of my favorites, because he’s a lovable rogue. You could probably actually trust him… He looks out for Ezra, and he looks out for the younglings, as they call them, and he won’t do anything to harm anybody. But I wouldn’t want to play cards with him.”

  • 10 Best Canceled Netflix Shows That Deserved Another Season

    [ad_1]

Netflix giveth, and Netflix taketh away. The streaming giant has devastated fans of plenty of series over the years by canceling shows without allowing them to run their full course.

Whether due to high production costs, corporate meddling, or lackluster viewership numbers, even glowing critical reviews and audience ratings couldn’t save great shows such as The OA, Sense8, and GLOW. RIP.

Even though fans never got proper closure, at least those shows were given the dignity of two or more seasons to shake out their stories. Alas, not all canceled Netflix shows have been given the chance to air past one measly season.

I’m not talking about limited series that were never intended to stretch past their initial season, but rather the one-season wonders that deserved to be renewed … but sadly weren’t.

READ MORE: 12 Great Netflix Movies You Never Watched

Some Netflix shows that tragically received a one-and-done season before being tossed into the streaming ethers include the terrifying French horror show Marianne, the sweet ’90s coming-of-age teen comedy Everything Sucks!, and the sweeping, Emmy-winning fantasy The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

Those are just three of the many excellent shows that had their plugs pulled way too soon. (I should know — I’m still reeling from not getting a proper conclusion to these stories. Please, Netflix, mercy! Put me out of my misery!)

Whether they ended on nail-biting cliffhangers, failed to wrap up compelling subplots, or just had so much story left to tell, these unfairly canceled one-season Netflix shows deserved to be renewed for at least another season.

  • There’s Now a 24/7 ‘Law & Order’ Channel

    [ad_1]

“In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate, yet equally important, groups: the police, who investigate crime; and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.”

Everyone who’s owned a television at some point over the last 35 years knows those words, the iconic introduction to the cop-and-lawyer show Law & Order created by Dick Wolf. A staple of broadcast and cable for well over a quarter century, the series has spawned a never-ending cycle of new episodes, syndicated reruns, and spinoffs — and now, for the first time a FAST channel playing classic episodes. Now if you need a L&O fix, day or night, you can find it there.

According to the announcement, the initial programming includes episodes from Seasons 5 through 10 of the original Law & Order.

READ MORE: How Well Does Iced-T Know Law & Order: SVU?

Here was Dick Wolf’s comment on the news:

Law & Order fans are using every type of media today, and it makes sense for the series to be available wherever they want to watch it. Our hope is that a new generation of viewers will discover Law & Order, and the fan base will continue to grow as we enter our 25th season.

The first Law & Order debuted on NBC in the fall of 1990 with a unique format: The first 30 minutes of the half-hour show followed cops investigating a crime; the subsequent half-hour then watched as the district attorney prosecuted whoever they arrested. Through the years, the cast has cycled through numerous replacement detectives and lawyers, but the format remained.

Although Law & Order went on a very long hiatus during the 21st century, it returned with new episodes in 2022. It’s now about the launch its 25th season. Over 500 episodes have been produced to date just in the core series; there have been six spinoffs through the decades, including Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and the recent addition, Law & Order: Organized Crime.

You can watch the Law & Order Channel on numerous digital outlets including LG Channels, Prime Video, Roku, and Pluto TV.
