  • ‘The Santa Clauses’ Trailer Brings Back Tim Allen’s Santa

‘The Santa Clauses’ Trailer Brings Back Tim Allen’s Santa

So what does Tim Allen’s Santa Claus look like more than 15 years after we last saw him?

He looks like Santa Claus, guys. Santa always looks like Santa.

Allen’s version of the beloved holiday icon is back in The Santa Clauses, a new legacyquel TV series that’s debuting next month on Disney+. Along with Allen, the new series also features Elizabeth Mitchell, Eric Lloyd, and David Krumholtz all back in the roles they played in the original Santa Clause movies. (Disney produced three of them between 1994 and 2006.) The key new member of the cast in this show is Kal Penn as a businessman who sets the plot into motion.

The key writer on the series is Jack Burditt, a veteran of Frasier30 Rock, and Allen’s own Last Man Standing, which Burditt created. Here is the first trailer for the show, which gives you a pretty good look at Allen’s aging Santa and gives an overview of the series premise:

Here is the series’ official synopsis:

Scott Calvin is back! After being Santa Claus for nearly thirty years, he’s as jolly as ever. But as Christmas declines in popularity, so does his Santa magic. Scott struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, as well as being there for his family. Upon discovering there is a way to retire from his post, Scott considers stepping down as Santa Claus and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband.

The Santa Clauses premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, November 16 with the season’s first two episodes. The show will run for six episodes.

  • Bryan Cranston Working on ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival

Bryan Cranston Working on ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival

Bryan Cranston is apparently working on a Malcolm In The Middle reboot, and we’re here for it. Despite playing one of the greatest TV villains of our generation, it seems that Cranston wants to return to his roots. He’s an incredibly versatile actor, and it doesn’t seem like it should be much of a problem for him to shift back into sitcom dad mode.

For those who didn’t grow up with the series, Malcolm In The Middle was a sitcom staple of the early 2000s about a working-class family. It wasn’t exactly like how you might imagine a sitcom from that era. It was quirky and kinda cynical, but most of all, it felt real. It reflected everyday life for a family living in poverty, and that made it all the more captivating.

The show starred Frankie Muniz as the titular Malcolm. and that remains one of his most recognizable roles. In fact, it was Muniz who spilled the beans on the potential reboot during a recent interview. Muniz is set to be a star on VH1’s The Surreal Life, which follows a number of celebrities who have fallen away from the spotlight. They’ll be cooped up together all under one roof, in a Big Brotherstyle reality TV scenario.

During the interview with Fox News Digital, he said:

I know Bryan Cranston is really into the idea and he’s kind of heading writing the script and getting everything rolling, so, there might be something. I would be down 100 percent. When I was filming the show, I obviously was a kid. We did seven seasons, 151 episodes. I didn’t really watch the show when it was on, but I’ve now since watched the show with my wife. We [watched] all 151 episodes… I realized, ‘Wow, that’s what we were making.’… I can separate myself from being on it and watching it as a fan. I would love to know what the family’s up to.

Of course, just because Bryan Cranston’s really enthusiastic about the idea and potentially working out the specifics… The show isn’t guaranteed. Hopefully, we hear more soon.

  • Matthew Perry Apologizes For Insulting Keanu Reeves in New Book

Matthew Perry Apologizes For Insulting Keanu Reeves in New Book

Keanu Reeves is one of those guys that pretty much everyone loves. He does great action movies like John Wick and The Matrix, he can do warm comedy in things like Bill & Ted, he generally does not take himself too seriously, and he does not appear to have aged in the last 20 years. It’s hard to dislike a dude like that.

    Or maybe not…

In the last day or two, excerpts from Friends star Matthew Perry’s upcoming memoir have gotten a lot of attention, specifically for multiple (not just one!) digs at Keanu Reeves’ expense. Perry’s book is largely about his own career, and his battles with substance abuse and addiction. And in talking about drugs, he occasionally references others who were not as lucky as he has been, and succumbed to their addictions. Of River Phoenix, for example, Perry reportedly writes “River was a beautiful man, inside and out — too beautiful for this world, it turned out. It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down. Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?”

In another excerpt, Perry wrote of the late Chris Farley that “his disease had progressed faster than mine had. (Plus, I had a healthy fear of the word ‘heroin,’ a fear we did not share) … I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out. Keanu Reeves walks among us.

The reaction to these jokes at Reeves’ expense have gotten big enough that People reached out to Perry who has already apologized for the remarks — more than a week before his book is officially released. Perry’s statement read: “I’m actually a big fan of Keanu. I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead.”

It’s sort of a strange name to pick Keanu Reeves at “random,” and for their not to be some ulterior motive behind it, but let’s take Perry at his word. His new memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, will go on sale on November 1. (If Keanu Reeves wants to write a memoir, I would totally read that without or without any random shots at other actors.)

Cassian Andor tried to stay out of the Rebellion but it didn’t matter; he ended up in jail anyway. • ‘Sausage Party’ Is Getting a TV Series

‘Sausage Party’ Is Getting a TV Series

From the creators of the hit animated film Sausage Party comes … a TV show version of Sausage Party.

The show, dubbed Sausage Party: Foodtopia is currently in production and intended for Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service. Already confirmed as returning for the show are Seth Rogen (the voice of Frank the sausage), Kristen Wiig (Brenda the hot dog bun), Michael Cera (Barry the sausage), David Krumholtz (Kareem the lavash), and Edward Norton (Sammy the bagel). Among the new actors joining them for the show: Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell, and Yassir Lester.

Here’s a statement on the show from Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who produced and co-wrote the Sausage Party movie, via Variety:

Film used to be the superior art form to television, and we humbly reached the pinnacle of what can be achieved with film in our remarkable opus, Sausage Party. But now that film is completely dead and TV is the forever-king of entertainment, we’ve decided to continue the epic adventures of our culinary crew in the soon-to-be-legendary televised masterpiece Sausage Party: Foodtopia. It’s got all the heart, double the puns, and triple the food-on-food sex. In other words, it’s exactly what the world needs right now.

The film follows the adventures of a group of sentient foodstuffs who try to escape their fate as our collective dinners. Here is the original film’s trailer:

The joke of Sausage Party was its extremely adult slant on the typical children’s animated entertainment: With loads of adult content and sex amidst the usual tropes of anthropomorphized everyday objects. (An early cut of the film was rated NC-17.) As Rogen and Goldberg’s statement suggests, the content rules for streaming are even more lax than in theaters, so this could potentially be a very good fit for the material.

  • Jules Bass, Producer of ‘Frosty’ and ‘Rudolph,’ Dies at 87

Jules Bass, Producer of ‘Frosty’ and ‘Rudolph,’ Dies at 87

Jules Bass is responsible for some of the all-time greatest Christmas specials ever made. Although he’s passed away, his work will live on. Jules Bass worked on classics like The Little Drummer Boy,  Frosty the Snowman, and Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town. While he’s perhaps most well-known for that body of work, he was also a composer and lyricist. He also co-directed and produced a little series called Thundercats with Arthur Rankin Jr.

Back in the ’60s and ’70s, Bass and Rankin truly began making a name for themselves with some extremely impressive stop-motion work. Before that, Bass paid the bills by working at an advertising agency in New York after graduating from New York University. On the other hand, Rankin worked mostly as an art director. In 1955, Rankin and Bass met, and they started their own advertising company. A few years later in 1960, they really found their calling with animation. Their very first project was a television series about Pinocchio.

Their 1969 TV special of Frosty the Snowman remains one of the most beloved television shows in history.

Their 1964 version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer remains almost as famous and as popular as their Frosty TV special.

Unfortunately, Rankin passed away back in 2014. He fell ill at his home in Bermuda and passed away shortly thereafter. Jules Bass passed away on October 25, 2022 at an assisted living facility in New York. While life may be fleeting, the legacy the pair left behind will survive for decades to come.

  • ‘Fallout‘ TV Show Offers First Look at Long-Awaited Series

‘Fallout‘ TV Show Offers First Look at Long-Awaited Series

The Fallout game series turns 25 years old this month. So what better way to celebrate (other than, okay yes, playing some Fallout video games) than with the first official image from the long-awaited Fallout TV show?

The image was shared by the official Twitter account of Prime Video, the streaming service where the show will eventually debut. The series is being developed by Westworld’s Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, and stars Walton Goggins, Ella Purnell, and Kyle McLachlan. This first image doesn’t show much, but it does at least look like Fallout.

The Fallout television show, which is being produced by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner, was first announced by Amazon back in the summer of 2020. At the time, Joy and Nolan said of the show:

Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.

At the same time, they released this early teaser for the project.

Although the Fallout TV series plot has yet to be fully revealed, it is assumed the show will be faithful to the concept of the games, which are set in a dark future decades after the world has been destroyed by a nuclear war. The game series, from Bethesda Game Studios, has produced four main titles to date (with a fifth in development) along with numerous spinoffs, most recently 2018’s Fallout 76.

The Fallout series on Prime Video doesn’t have an official release date yet.

  • ‘Quantumania’ Trailer Breakdown: Every Easter Egg

‘Quantumania’ Trailer Breakdown: Every Easter Egg

The Ant-Man movies were always on the smaller side of Marvel movies. That’s not meant as a pun; the movies tended to be more intimate affairs. The first movie was basically a heist film with super-powers. The second one got a little bigger, but it was still about a pair of heroes who shrink. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania looks like a quantum increase in the scope of these films. The cast gets sucked into the Quantum Realm, the domain of Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror. Since the next Avengers movie is called The Kang Dynasty, we can rest assured, we haven’t seen the last of this guy.

The debut of Kang is a huge deal for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and in our latest Marvel video we break down the Quantumania trailer’s Easter eggs, hidden secrets, and little details you might have missed. We look at the callbacks to Avengers; Endgame and Ms. Marvel, the reference to the Baskin-Robbins from the first Ant-Man film, where he worked prior to becoming Ant-Man, and the slight changes to the Ant-Man suit in this movie. Take a look below:

  • The Price of Apple TV Plus Is Going Up

The Price of Apple TV Plus Is Going Up

It’s been almost exactly three years since the launch of Apple’s streaming service, Apple TV+. The app started from basically nothing; Apple did not license shows from other studios or companies and instead built their own library of originals. So far, those include acclaimed hits like Ted Lasso, For All MankindMythic Quest, and Severance and films like Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, the Russo brothers’ Cherry, and the Oscar winner for Best Picture in 2022, CODA.

When Apple TV+ launched on November 1, 2019, it was included free with any new Apple hardware. For everyone else the cost (after free trial) was $4.99 a month — a pretty good price, if only in the short-term, to binge watch some of the company’s best titles.

But now the cost of Apple TV+ is going up for the first time. The Hollywood Reporter says Apple TV+ is set to jump in price to $6.99 per month. It’s an increase of 40 percent each month. If you pay per year instead of per month, the cost is now $69 a year instead of $49 a year, a nearly 30 percent increase on that rate.

Here was Apple’s statement on the news:

We introduced Apple TV+ at a very low price because we started with just a few shows and movies. Three years later, Apple TV+ is home to an extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment from the world’s most creative storytellers.

Apple is also raising the price of its Apple Music service which is going up by one dollar per month for a single plan, two dollars a month on the family plan, and ten dollars a month for the annual plan.

Apple will be using the increased subscription revenue to make projects like a live-action Godzilla series, a live-action Speed Racer show, Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, the Tetris movie, and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.

Bigg Boss 16: Gauahar Khan supports Gautam Vig after it is alleged that his equation with Soundarya Sharma is fake | Bollywood Life

Bigg Boss 16 viewers are complaining on social media that the whole Weekend Ka Vaar was kind of dedicated to Gautam Vig and Soundarya Sharma’s budding love story. The whole thing kicked off with Manya Singh saying that Soundarya Sharma decided to stick to Gautam Vig after he became a captain on the show. She said that she is also close to MC Stan and Shalin Bhanot. Karan Johar asked Gautam Vig if he actually felt something for Soundarya Sharma or was it for the show. He said that fans were not liking this forced love angle, and they can play alone.

Karan Johar said that it looked fake as one of them wore mikes when they went to the bathroom to have their private chats. But a number of viewers felt that Gautam Vig was unfairly called out. They felt it could been done to promote Tina Datta and Shalin Bhanot, who is the second couple on the show after Ankit Gupta and Priyanka Chahar Choudhary. But Gauahar Khan is not impressed with how Gautam Vig was called out by Karan Johar.

In fact, quite a few people have felt that Gautam Vig and Soundarya Sharma were schooled for no apparent reason. The whole segment looked terribly boring too. Take a look at the tweets here…

It remains to be seen how this affects the friendship of Gautam Vig and Soundarya Sharma. The actor is playing a good game even when he is solo. Archana Gautam has advised them to be solo on the show.

She-Hulk didn’t just break the fourth wall in its season finale; it smashed it into oblivion. The title character decided she did not care for the creative direction of her final episode and changed it by venturing through the Disney+ main menu, entering a Marvel making-of documentary, and then confronting her own show’s writing staff. Then she met with Marvel’s head honcho, Kevin — only it wasn’t the real Marvel’s Kevin Feige. It was “K.E.V.I.N.,” an elaborate artificial intelligence that determines the ultimate direction of the MCU.

She-Hulk’s confrontation with her maker could be a throwaway gag, but Marvel tends to hang on to these little aspects of world-building. And, when you think about it, the idea that the MCU may all be an elaborate simulation is not that far-fetched within the framework of a massive multiverse filled with gods, heroes, and She-Hulks. So Marvel could bring K.E.V.I.N. back — and there’s one MCU villain who would love to meet him: Kang the Conqueror.

In our latest She-Hulk video, we explore the surprising connections between Kang and K.E.V.I.N. and speculate how Kang could potentially use K.E.V.I.N. as part of his ongoing plan to conquer the Marvel multiverse. Watch it below:

  • ‘Watchmen’ Creator Calls TV Show ‘Embarrassing’

‘Watchmen’ Creator Calls TV Show ‘Embarrassing’

Within the TV world, Watchmen was considered an improbable success. It managed to tell a compelling and timely sequel story set in the same fictional universe as the classic DC comic co-created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. The show garnered solid ratings, very positive reviews, and earned 11 Emmy Awards.

But not everyone was a fan. Watchmen writer Alan Moore has long detested the way the comics he created for DC (which are all owned by Warner Bros.) have been turned into films and television shows without his approval or input. And despite all the acclaim for the Watchmen TV show, Moore felt no different about it. He told GQ that the series showrunner (Damon Lindelof) contacted him in an effort to win his approval. To put it mildly, that move backfired.

Describing the showrunner’s letter as “a lot of, what seemed to me to be, neurotic rambling,” Moore fired back a “very abrupt and probably hostile reply” instructing the production to leave him alone from that point on.

    He added:

I explained that I had disowned the work in question, and partly that was because the film industry and the comics industry seemed to have created things that had nothing to do with my work, but which would be associated with it in the public mind. I said, ‘Look, this is embarrassing to me. I don’t want anything to do with you or your show. Please don’t bother me again.’

Again, Lindelof is in good company here; Moore has pretty much hated (and in most cases never even seen) all the adaptations of his work, including Zack Snyder’s Watchmen and the V For Vendetta movieIf you’re going to make something out of one of Moore’s incredible graphic novels, this is part of the deal; he’s going to dislike it (and, by extension, you) on basic principle. Regardless, the Watchmen TV series, which was pretty darn good, is still available on HBO Max.

DC Comics That Can’t Become DC Movies

These popular DC Comics titles can never get their own DC movies. (Sorry.)
