The Most Popular Netflix Shows of 2022

    [ad_1]

Along with their weekly list of the most watched shows of the moment, Netflix also took these final days of 2022 to announce the TV series that were most watched on the streaming service over the entirety of the year. As you might have guessed given all the internal Netflix records they both broke over the course of 2022, the top shows of the year were Stranger Things Season 4 and Wednesday Season 1.

Netflix: The place to go to watch teenagers do spooky and/or nostalgic things!

Here is how Netflix says they calculate the somewhat nebulous concept of popularity: They track the total amount of time its subscribers watch a show over its first 28 days on the service. (After that, it doesn’t count. In fact, don’t even bother watching anything on Netflix once it’s more than a month old. It’s just not worth it.)

The full list of titles that follows ranks the most watched shows on Netflix from January 1 through December 18 of 2022. In other words, 200 million people could have all decided to watch Mike Myers’ The Pentaverate on Christmas Day, and it still wouldn’t show up here anyway. (Sorry, The Pentaverate. Maybe next year?)

Here are the most-watched Netflix shows of 2022:

  • ‘That 70s Show’ Cast Reunites in New ‘That 90s Show’ Featurette

‘That 70s Show’ Cast Reunites in New ‘That 90s Show’ Featurette

    [ad_1]

When That ’90s Show debuts on Netflix next month, it will be 16 years since That ’70s Show ended its first run on Fox. (There was a That ’80s Show in between, but we don’t talk about that.) When the series returns, it will mostly focus on a new cast of teenagers living in Wisconsin in the 1990s — but many of the franchise’s original stars will appear in guest roles, and Eric Forman’s parents, Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) and Red (Kurtwood Smith), are full-time characters as well.

Netflix’s latest behind-the-scenes featurette on That ’90s Show features interviews with Rupp and Smith while they’re getting their makeup done for a show taping, and it also includes some footage of the returning actors — including Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, and Wilmer Valderrama. Watch the clip below:

In case you missed it, here was the full trailer for That ’90s Show:

And here is the show’s official synopsis:

It’s 1995 and Leia Forman is desperate for some adventure in her life or at least a best friend who isn’t her dad. When she arrives in Point Place to visit her grandparents, Red and Kitty, Leia finds what she’s looking for right next door when she meets the dynamic and rebellious Gwen. With the help of Gwen’s friends, including her lovable brother Nate, his smart, laser-focused girlfriend Nikki, the sarcastic and insightful Ozzie, and the charming Jay, Leia realizes adventure could happen there just like it did for her parents all those years ago. Excited to reinvent herself, she convinces her parents to let her stay for the summer. With a basement full of teens again, Kitty is happy the Forman house is now a home for a new generation and Red is, well…Red.

That ’90s Show premieres on Netflix on January 19, 2023.

  • ‘That ’70s Show’ Cast Returns in New ‘That ’90s Show’ Trailer

‘That ’70s Show’ Cast Returns in New ‘That ’90s Show’ Trailer

    [ad_1]

The first That ’90s Show teaser didn’t feature any of the original teenagers from That ’70s Show — although it did, of course, include Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith as Kitty and Red, now the grandparents of the new show’s lead, Leia (Callie Haverda). But what everyone was waiting for was the return of some of the old That ’70s Show stars.

Here they are. The latest trailer for the That ’90s Show series coming to Netflix in early 2023 includes the first appearances in 15 years by Topher Grace as Eric and Laura Prepon as Donna. And they look great! (They still kinda look ’70s-ish though? But maybe that’s only fitting.)

Watch the trailer below, which also includes very brief appearances by fellow former castmates Mila Kunis (Jackie), Ashton Kutcher (Kelso) and, thankfully, Wilmer Valderrama as Fez:

    I mean, come on…

Okay, this one actually does look quite a bit like a sitcom that’s set in the ’90s.

Here is the show’s official synopsis:

So far, Netflix has ordered ten episodes of the series.
