  • Everything New on Netflix in December 2025

It’s going to be a busy month on Netflix in December. I’m not even going to estimate how many hours of new content they’ve got over just 30 days. It’s a lot. Too much for any person to watch.

The highlights: The final episodes of Stranger Things, including the series finale on New Year’s Eve, the new Noah Baumbach movie Jay Kelly starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler, and Wake Up Dead Man, the third Knives Out mystery movie from writer/director Rian Johnson and star Daniel Craig. Sandler will also appear on a special episode of My Next Guest With David Letterman, and there are also new episodes of Emily in Paris, several new Christmas movies and specials (including one featuring Sesame Street’s Muppets), and documentaries on John Elway and the making of Jay Kelly.

Here’s the full list of what’s coming to Netflix in December 2025. It’s so much stuff you won’t even have to think about having a prolonged conversation with your in-laws over the holidays.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Spoiler? Noah Schnapp Drops Mysterious Hint About Vecna

Will Vecna get a redemption arc in the final season of Stranger Things?

During a recent interview with TV Guide, Noah Schnapp and Millie Bobby Brown were asked about which villains from their hit Netflix series they consider “misunderstood,” and Schnapp might have inadvertently dropped a major clue about the upcoming final season with his somewhat mysterious — albeit cut-short — answer.

“Low-key Vecna, because like…” Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the show, begins.

Brown suddenly interrupts Schnapp’s answer before he can put his foot further in his mouth. “Really? No, shut up. That’s it, now be quiet,” the actress who plays Eleven on the series says, laughing.

When pressed by the interviewer if Vecna could be considered “misunderstood” based on his gruesome actions in Season 4, Brown effortlessly steers the conversation away with her media training.

“Let’s just not even [go there], because today has been a day and we want to do so much for you, but we’re not smart enough to dance around these questions,” she says playfully.

Fans online are already buzzing about the implications of Schnapp’s answer. Could this mean that Vecna will somehow be redeemed? Does Vecna, AKA Henry Creel, AKA One, have some ultra-tragic backstory we’ll discover as Season 5 rolls out over the next few weeks? (To be fair, the Broadway stage show Stranger Things: The First Shadow does go into Henry’s upbringing and includes a lot of pretty important exposition, but I won’t spoil all that here.)

Still, while it seems unlikely that Vecna of all people — or, erm, interdimensional beings — could see some character redemption after mangling, sucking the eyeballs out of and seemingly trapping the souls of innocent teenagers in his nightmare realm last season, stranger things have happened. (Sorry.)

Fans have long theorized that Vecna will use Will, who was connected to the Mind Flayer in Season 2, against Eleven in the upcoming fifth and final season. Now, it seems that will indeed be the case following the official Season 5 trailer, which revealed Will will be used as Vena’s pawn and under his control, in some capacity.

Meanwhile, a recent clip of the forthcoming season’s opening scene reveals what really happened to Will when he first went missing in the Upside Down all those years ago, including his first horrifying meeting with Vecna.

Season 5 takes place in the fall of 1987. Netflix’s official synopsis for the season reads:

Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.

Stranger Things Season 5 will be released in three parts: The first four episodes will hit Netflix on November 26, the next three episodes will begin streaming on Christmas (December 25), and the series finale will air on New Year’s Eve (December 31).

Episodes will be available to stream beginning at 5PM PT/8PM ET on their respective dates.

  • Game of Thrones’ Rory McCann Almost Played Another Star Wars Character

In an example of a sliding doors moment, one Game of Thrones star nearly played an important role in Andor.

What Star Wars character was Rory McCann set to play?

In Game of Thrones, Rory McCann played Sandor Clegane, also known as The Hound. After his time playing the fan-favorite character on Thrones, McCann had his eyes set on joining a galaxy far, far away.

McCann joined the cast of Andor Season 1 as Brasso, a friend of Cassian’s who lives on Ferrix, but a chance injury led McCann to drop out and be replaced by Joplin Sibtain.

During an episode of the Star Wars Sessions podcast, Sibtain spoke about his time on Andor and how he was originally cast in a smaller role. Sibtain recalled how McCann had to leave the show.

“He [McCann] just had a limp and he went to work,” Sibtain said on the podcast. “They did a scan on it, and the consultant said, ‘If you don’t have this operated on, you’re going to not be able to walk.’”

With McCann out, Sibtain was offered a chance to read for the role of Brasso.

“They reshot it,” Sibtain added. “They did a lot with The Hound’s face, they had to superimpose my face on [him].”

McCann’s first chance to join the Star Wars universe might have ended prematurely. As fate would have it, McCann got the call to replace the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka Season 2. Stevenson died in May 2023 at the age of 58. Instead of writing off the character, McCann was recast in the role.

“I think it’s the right decision to carry on his storyline, not just cut it off,” McCann said about replacing Stevenson. “We’ve done it before with other things. I hope the fans embrace it, and I’ll do my best.”

Ahsoka Season 2 has no release date.

  • Paramount+ Is Raising Subscription Prices

Customers to Paramount+ are about to pay for more for their streaming subscription.

The company announced that starting on January 15, 2026, new prices will go into effect for subscribers of Paramount’s streaming hub. The ad-supported tier will now cost $8.99, an increase of one dollar from the previous $7.99 price. The tier with no ads will also go up by one dollar; it will now cost $13.99 a month.

Those are for subscribers who pay per month; if you subscribe annually, you’ll pay more that way too. Paramount+ with ads will cost $89.99 a year, a sharp increase fro the previous $59.99 deal. Without ads you’re looking at an increase of $20, from $119.99 a year to $139.99 a year.

READ MORE: Streaming Recommendations After Predator: Badlands

Paramount recently signed a pricy, multibillion-dollar deal with the UFC to become the exclusive streaming home of the MMA federation’s live events. (Given that each UFC pay-per-view event previously cost $79.99, an annual price of $89.99 for Paramount+ with ads is actually a very good deal — for fans of UFC, at least.) They also finalized a deal over the summer with the creators of South Park as well, which has long been a Paramount property on cable, via the company’s linear channel, Comedy Central.

Paramount is far from the only company to raise its prices in recent months. Netflix announced a price hike in January of this year, which made its ad-supported tier $7.99 per month and its premium ad-free tier $24.99 a month. Just a few weeks ago, HBO Max announced its own increases on subscriptions; $10.99 a month with ads or $22.49 per month for their “premium” membership with no ads.

  • Kim Kardashian’s Reaction to Terrible All’s Fair Reviews Has People Talking

Kim Kardashian recently took to social media to respond to criticism of the legal drama All’s Fair in hilarious fashion.

What did Kim Kardashian say about the All’s Fair reviews?

In a recent post on Instagram, Kardashian shared a collage of photos to promote the ongoing show. In a caption, she told fans to tune in for the “most critically acclaimed show of the year,” and then proceeded to share a number of mixed reviews in a tongue-in-cheek manner.

While some of Kardashian’s photos were of her in the show, others contained screenshotted images of fans talking about the show. They ranged from positive to more sarcastic reviews of the show, which still praised it, including one that called the show “some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen,” but needing “14 seasons” of it nonetheless.

All’s Fair comes from creator Ryan Murphy, and follows the story of a successful divorce laywer and owner of an all-female law firm in Los Angeles. Alongside Kardashian, the show also features a star-studded cast, including Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor, Matthew Noszka, Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Judith Light, Ed O’Neill, O-T Fagbenle, Armani Barrett, Jamarcus Kilgore, Joshua Suiter, and Hari Nef.

Despite its star-studded cast, the show has received fairly negative reviews upon its premiere. The series debuted to an almost 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and as of this writing has just a 5% critical score on the site, although the audience rating is high at 67%.

All’s Fair is available to stream now on Hulu, with three of its nine episodes having already aired.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 First Five Minutes: What Really Happened to Will in the Upside Down?

Netflix has released the first five minutes of Stranger Things Season 5, and it seems the final season of the hit sci-fi adventure series will take fans back to the very beginning of Will Byers’ terrible time spent in the Upside Down.

The upcoming season kicks off by revealing what really happened to Will in the Upside Down after he disappeared the night of November 6, 1983. As it turns out, Will bravely held his own for quite awhile, and even encountered Vecna long before the other kids did in Season 4.

The clip, released late Thursday (November 6), starts with young Will curled up in Castle Byers, softly singing The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” to himself. All hell breaks loose when a Demogorgon suddenly bursts into the hut, and Will goes running through the dark, twisted woods of the Upside Down. After climbing a tree to safety, the monster finds him, and he leaps to another tree out of desperation, only to fall tumbling to the ground where he is dragged off.

We then see Will, unconscious, ensnared in vines inside the Hawkins Public Library—exactly where Joyce and Hopper found him in the Upside Down at the end of Season 1. The Demogorgon cowers away as Vecna appears and approaches the little boy, attaching a vine to his mouth that begins to feed dark particles to him. “At long last we can begin. You and I, we are going to do such beautiful things together, William,” Vecna tells Will, before the scene cuts to black.

Released on October 30, the official Season 5 trailer already hinted that Will will play a big role this season as his connection to Vecna—and use as Vena’s pawn—becomes more apparent.

“Will, you are going to help me… one last time,” Vecna tells Will in the trailer, using his telekinetic powers to lift the teen off the ground and toward him menacingly.

Fans have long theorized that Vecna will use Will, who was tethered to the Mind Flayer in Season 2, against Eleven and his friends in the final season, and it seems that will surely be the case after Will spent several seasons sensing the Upside Down’s evil presence lurking in the background.

  • Hit Netflix TV Show Renewed for Season 3

Netflix is bringing back one of its most popular shows for a third season, returning a hit romantic comedy series to fans.

What Netflix TV show is getting renewed for a Season 3?

Nobody Wants This, the series led by Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, is coming back for a third season. The new season of the series is set to premiere sometime in 2026, with news of the Season 3 renewal coming just a week after the second season of the show premiered on October 23, 2025, on Netflix.

Nobody Wants This’ second season, despite only being out for a short time, is already hugely popular on Netflix. According to the streamer, the show’s seconds season is number one in the Global English TV Top 10 for the second week in a row, and has garnered 18 million views through its first 11 days of being on the service.

In a quote on the show’s third season renewal, co-showrunners and executive producers Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan expressed their happiness about the renewal, and said they’re excited to get back to work.

“We are so grateful to Netflix and 20th for giving us another season of Nobody Wants this. This job is criminally fun. Working with the uniquely gifted Erin Foster, this unbelievable cast of talented, hilarious pros, amazing writers, and incredible crew has been a truly great experience. Go Dodgers!”

Nobody Wants This comes from creator Erin Foster, and stars Bell, Brody, Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, and Jackie Tohn. The first season premiered in 2024 on Netflix.

“First comes love, then comes life. The last time we saw agnostic podcast host Joanne (Kristen Bell) and unconventional (hot) rabbi Noah (Adam Brody), their unmatched chemistry surprised everyone in their lives, including her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe), his brother Sasha (Timothy Simons) and sister-in-law Esther (Jackie Tohn), and even themselves,” reads the show’s synopsis for Season 2. “Their spark proved stronger than all of the obstacles trying to keep them apart. Now they’re back, and fully committed to merging their lives –– and loved ones — together. But their differences still exist and can’t be ignored. The challenge now is not just falling in love against all odds, but staying together in spite of them.”

  • Netflix Considering Bid For Warner Bros. Discovery

The drama around the potential sale of Warner Bros. Discovery has taken another turn, as a new report claims that online movie and TV giant Netflix is actively exploring bidding on the company.

That’s according to Reuters, which states according to “three sources familiar with the matter … the video streaming service has hired Moelis & Co, the investment bank that advised Skydance Media on its successful bid for Paramount Global, to evaluate a prospective offer, two of the sources said. Netflix also has been granted access to the data room, which contains the financial details needed to make a bid, according to two of the sources familiar with the matter.”

READ MORE: The 10 Worst Netflix Movies of the Last 10 Years

It’s just the latest twist in a seemingly endless series of ups and downs for Warner Bros. Discovery since the media conglomerate was formed in 2022 by the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery. Earlier in 2025, the company announced it was intending to split itself back into two companies — Warner Bros. and Discovery — with the former controlling the Warner Bros. studio, HBO, and HBO Max, while the latter would house old school linear cable channels like CNN, TNT, and TBS.

While that could theoretically happen, in recent months there has been numerous reports about one or both of those companies being up for sale. That includes rumors that Paramount Skydance — the newly formed company following Skydance’s acquisition of Paramount Global — wanted to expand even further by buying Warner Bros. Discovery. Now comes word that Netflix may get involved in the bidding as well.

Reuters notes that Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos recently said to investors that the company is traditionally “more builders than buyers,” but that it would consider such acquisitions — although it supposedly would not be interested in the Discovery side of the business containing the cable networks.

Basically these rumors will continue until someone actually buys WBD. And then there will be more rumors after that about someone else looking to buy the new combined company. Then we can look forward to the day in the near future when there is just one movie studio left in Hollywood and we no longer have to use our brains to choose what to watch or where to watch it, because there will just be one place that makes and distributes everything.

  • Talk to Me: Horror Movie Gets Spin-off But Not How You Expect

A24‘s 2022 horror hit Talk to Me is getting a spin-off in the form of a very unlikely collaboration.

What is the new Talk to Me spin-off?

Meta and XRTV announced that they are teaming up to create an immersive XR (extended reality) series based on the film. The mixed reality series will feature “cutting-edge technology and immersive storytelling elements that blur the line between fiction and reality,” and brings “terrifying action sequences directly into viewers’ space.”

The new horror series will be created exclusively for Meta headsets and shot entirely in 3D. According to Meta and XRTV, the series will use “cutting edge mixed reality technology” to map the environments of viewers, and bring them into the story themselves.

The Talk to Me spin-off will span six half-hour episodes, following the story of “young travelers chasing the ultimate party on a European island until they discover the Hand, a supernatural high deadlier than any drug.” Craig William Macneil (Them) will direct all six episodes, with Trent Atherton (The Wheel) writing all six episodes.

No official release date for the XR Talk to Me spin-off series has been announced as of yet.

Originally released in 2022, Talk to Me was directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, and was a massive success upon its release, becoming A24’s highest-grossing horror film. A sequel to the film, Talk 2 Me, was announced in 2023, with both Philippou brothers planned to return as directors.

  • WATCH: ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Trailer Hints at Longtime Theory About Will Byers

The official Stranger Things Season 5 trailer was released on Thursday (October 30), and it’s stacked with big reveals and exciting hints at the series’ epic conclusion.

The trailer reveals that Hawkins is officially under military quarantine following the catastrophic events of last season—meaning Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and the gang are trapped in the town with “no end in sight,” according to Mike.

In one glimpse from the adventure ahead, Lucas holds an unconscious Max as he tries to save her from a demogorgon in the hospital. Another moment shows little Holly Wheeler rushing over to her mom Karen in their kitchen, after or during what appears to be some sort of attack. One of the most thrilling teases reveals Eleven’s latest power: She can fly now. Or, super-jump, at least.

There’s also a lot of crying: Jonathan cries while embracing his friends! Nancy cries as she washes blood off her hands! Dustin cries as he tightly hugs Steve! Everyone is very emotional.

But the biggest revelation comes at the very end, where it’s revealed Vecna plans to use Will against his friends.

“Will, you are going to help me… one last time,” Vecna tells Will, using his telekinetic powers to lift the terrified Byers teen off the ground and drag him toward him. The moment is quick in the trailer, but it’s an important one that appears to finally prove a longstanding fan theory about the final season, as well as Stranger Things in general.

Fans have long theorized that the Mind Flayer and/or Vecna might use Will as a pawn for the Upside Down, and by the looks of things, it seems that will indeed be the case this season.

After all, Will has been tethered to the Upside Down ever since he was dragged into the alternate dimension back in Season 1. Even though Joyce appeared to sever the connection in Season 2 by literally burning the Upside Down out of Will, the evil wasn’t truly killed, and so Will’s been feeling the menacing presence Vecna and the Mind Flayer ever since. (Remember all those scenes of him getting goosebumps and touching the back of his neck forebodingly? Yeah.)

Watch the official Stranger Things Season 5 trailer, below:

READ MORE: Everything New on Netflix in November 2025

According to the official synopsis, Season 5 takes place in the fall of 1987. The synopsis reads:

Stranger Things Season 5, which officially wrapped production in December 2024, will be released in three parts: The first four episodes will hit Netflix on November 26, the next three episodes will begin streaming on Christmas (December 25), and the series finale will air on New Year’s Eve (December 31).

Episodes will be available to stream beginning at 5PM PT/8PM ET on their respective dates.

  • Star Trek’s Zachary Quinto Returns as Spock, But Not How You’d Expect

After nine years, Zachary Quinto is back as fan-favorite Vulcan Spock — just not for Star Trek.

Why is Zachary Quinto dressed as Spock in Brilliant Minds?

With Star Trek 4 stuck in development hell at Paramount, the NBC medical drama series Brilliant Minds has decided to give the fandom what it wants. Quinto’s lead character, Dr. Oliver Wolf, dresses up as the Enterprise’s first officer in the show’s upcoming Halloween episode. Quinto isn’t the only Brilliant Minds series regular to get in on the Star Trek fun though, as Tamberla Perry’s Dr. Carol Pierce will be dressed as Uhura, Spock’s colleague/love interest in the Kelvin timeline movies.

ComicBook.com shared the first look at Quinto and Perry’s characters dressed as Spock and Uhura for the hospital’s Halloween festivities, which can be viewed below, courtesy of X:

Created by Michael Grassi, Brilliant Minds is centered around Quinto’s Dr. Oliver Wolf, a neurologist whose avant-garde investigatory methods often unearth hard-to-find medical truths about his patients. The medical drama series is inspired by Oliver Sacks’ books The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars. Besides Quinto and Perry, Brilliant Minds stars Ashleigh LaThrop, Aury Krebs, Teddy Sears, John Clarence Stewart, Brian Altemus, and Al Calderon.

Quinto’s Spock reprisal should hopefully tide fans over until Paramount finally decides to move forward with a fourth Kelvin-set Star Trek movie, which has been in development since July 2016. Unfortunately, since the initial announcement, the movie has struggled to make any headway, going through several different creative teams. At the time of writing, Steve Yockey is reportedly writing the latest draft of the Star Trek 4 script.

Despite the development complications, Quinto remains interested in reprising his role as Spock for Star Trek 4, stating just last month, “I would absolutely love to do another Star Trek movie. I don’t understand why we haven’t done one yet, but hopefully now that the Skydance and Paramount merger is moving forward, Skydance was the financier of all the Star Trek movies that we’ve done so far, and have been great partners in those films, and I would love to revisit it.”

The Halloween-themed episode of Brilliant Minds Season 2, “The Doctor’s Graveyard,” will air on NBC on October 27, 2025.

  • Batman: James Gunn Gives Disappointing Update on Arkham Asylum TV Show

James Gunn recently opened up about the once-planned Arkham Asylum TV show that was in the works from The Batman director Matt Reeves.

What was James Gunn’s Arkham Asylum TV show update?

Speaking to BobaTalks in a recent interview with the YouTuber, Gunn was asked about Reeves’ show, which was originally set to be a spin-off to The Batman and focus on the Gotham City Police Department. Gunn was asked if there were any hopes for the show to come back, and while he didn’t say no, his answer all but shut the door on it.

“Hope? Sure. But that isn’t something that’s being developed by anyone right now. You know? Just didn’t work,” said Gunn.

The show, which was originally rumored to be titled GCPD, went through many changes. Originally described as a drama about the GCPD, reports suggested that Reeves then spun those plans into a separate project that would’ve focused on the iconic asylum that houses many of Batman’s most legendary foes.

For whatever reason, the show never materialized and Reeves ended up working on the award-winning and critically acclaimed series The Penguin instead. Whether or not Reeves will continue that series, or perhaps work on another DC project for Gunn, is unknown as of now. Currently, Reeves is working on the follow-up to The Batman, The Batman: Part II, which is set to release in theaters on October 1, 2027.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Series Finale Will Play in Movie Theaters

The final episode of Stranger Things is so big it’s headed to movie theaters as well as streaming.

Netflix announced today that the final episode of their hugely popular sci-fi series would screen in more than 350 theaters around the U.S. and Canada “starting on December 31, 2025 at 5:00pm PT, timed to the finale’s global premiere on Netflix, and run through January 1, 2026.” (In other words, if you don’t want to watch the episodes in theaters, they will be streaming on Netflix at the exact same time.)

READ MORE: I Ate Stranger Things Doritos

Stranger Things creators the Duffer brothers gave this comment about the news:

We’re beyond excited that fans will have the chance to experience the final episode of Stranger Things in theaters — it’s something we’ve dreamed about for years, and we’re so grateful to Ted, Bela, and everyone at Netflix for making it happen. Getting to see it on the big screen, with incredible sound, picture, and a room full of fans, feels like the perfect — dare we say bitchin’ — way to celebrate the end of this adventure.

The news of Stranger Things headed to theaters comes on the heels of Netflix’s Kpop Demon Hunters having a hugely successful limited run in theaters around the country in a sing-along version. Despite the fact that the film had already been streaming on Netflix for weeks, the sing-along Kpop Demon Hunters grossed $18 million in theaters. (Netflix is now planning a second run in theaters with the sing-along version.) But Stranger Things is an even more unusual proposition for theaters because this is an episode of a TV show, not a film. (That said, the finale of Stranger Things is expected to be as long as any feature-length movie that plays in theaters.)

For years, Netflix has insisted it made movies and television for streaming, not for movie theaters. Its films only played very small runs in theaters, often just to qualify for awards like the Oscars. But it appears that events like the Kpop Demon Hunters phenomenon have started to change their thinking about that.

  • Survey: Gen Z Wants Less Sex in Movies and TV Shows

NSFW? No thanks! Sex is no longer a draw for young audiences seeking something edgy at the movie theater.

Variety reports that according to new data from UCLA’s Center for Scholars & Storytellers, Gen Z viewers are tired of on-screen sexual content. (RIP to the raunchy teen sex comedy subgenre.)

Released on Wednesday (October 22), the university’s annual Teens & Screens report, which surveyed 1,500 young adults and teens in August 2025, reveals 48 percent of Gen Z viewers believe there is “too much sex and sexual content” in modern movies and TV shows.

But it’s not just the sex itself that’s turning off Gen Z audiences. Over 60 percent of viewers in the generation are tired of seeing sexual attraction emphasized at the core of romantic relationships on screen, and would prefer to see such relationships depicted “more about the friendship between the couple.”

READ MORE: Everything New on Netflix in November 2025

And sorry, Bella, Edward, and Jacob: Younger viewers are totally over the whole love triangle trope, once a staple of YA stories such as Twilight and The Hunger Games. They’re also not eager to see portrayals of toxic relationships, either, and would prefer healthier representations of romance in their media.

In fact, according to the data, romance ranks low (third-to-last, to be precise) on the list of topics younger audiences want to see in their movies and shows.

More than 54 percent of respondents shared they would like to see more characters who aren’t interested in pursuing a romantic relationship, while nearly 55 percent want to see more platonic, “different gender friendships” in their films and series.

The findings regarding Gen Z’s indifference toward sex scenes in entertainment media may be surprising considering the sexually edgy lean of so many popular titles geared toward teens and young adults, from Superbad to Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Bottoms. However, the data aligns with an emerging generational trend among younger Gen Z’ers, who are reportedly leaning more conservative than their older Gen Z counterparts and the millennial generation before them.

  • Stephen King TV Series, Ranked From Worst to Best

Not all Stephen King TV shows and television movies are created equal.

The King of Horror’s books have yielded feature-length films good and bad. Likewise, we’ve seen our fair share of convoluted plots, dated effects, and over-the-top, cornball acting (“Scaring the little girl!?”) across the celebrated author’s many TV adaptations and original series over the decades.

But at the very least, no one could ever dare call King’s television filmography “boring,” and when he’s good, he’s really good.

For every cheesy sci-fi clunker like 1995’s The Langoliers or disappointing adaptation such as 2011’s lackluster Bag of Bones, there’s an inspired new mythology to explore, like Hulu’s Castle Rock, or a gripping near-masterpiece to lose yourself in, such as 1999’s Storm of the Century.

READ MORE: The Best Stephen King Movie Adaptations Ever

Whether it’s a made-for-TV movie, a limited miniseries, a one-season wonder, or a multi-season show, and whether it’s adapted from an already published King work or written exclusively for television or streaming, one thing is certain among longtime fans: Every single Stephen King TV project is an event that commands attention, for better or worse.

Below, check out our ranking of Stephen King’s greatest TV series and television movies, from worst to best.

Ranked: Stephen King’s Best TV Series

From haunting horror miniseries to supernatural dramas loosely based on short stories, these are the best TV shows created by or based on Stephen King’s work, ranked from worst to best.

  • Darkseid Is Not the Big Bad of the New DC Universe, Says James Gunn

Darkseid is not coming to the new DC Universe any time soon.

That’s according to James Gunn himself, who is interviewed on the latest episode of the ScreenCrush Crossover Universe podcast. And the dude would know; he’s the co-CEO of DC Studios after all.

“Using Darkseid as the big bad right now is not necessarily the thing,” Gunn told us. As for why, he explained “For a lot of reasons: Because Zack [Snyder] did it so cool in his way. And because [of] Thanos in Marvel.”

We also grilled James Gunn about the multiverse, the end of Season 2 of Peacemaker, how it will set up the next batch of stories in the DC Universe, what he likes about the Salvation Run comics, and what he is bringing to his version of the story. He also spilled the beans about the upcoming Mr. Miracle TV show — the pilot episode is written and sitting on Gunn’s desk, waiting to be read.
