    Hayden Christensen “would love” to feature in more Star Wars projects.

    The 42-year-old actor played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the prequel trilogy and explained how returning to the part in Disney+ shows Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka has given him the taste for more work in the legendary sci-fi franchise.

    Speaking on Entertainment Weekly‘s “Dagobah Dispatch” podcast, Christensen said: “I would love to get to do more, I would love to continue with Star Wars.”

    We’’l see. I don’t know what the future holds, if such an opportunity presents itself, I’ll be there with a big smile on my face. If it doesn’t, I feel really grateful for getting to come back and do the work that I did, both in Obi-Wan and Ahsoka.

    Hayden joked that he felt as if he was “cheating” on Star Wars creator George Lucas by working on the projects without his involvement, although he stressed the legendary filmmaker is never far from the thoughts of those involved in the new TV and movie work.

    He said: “At first I felt like I was cheating on him a little bit. But no, it’s a different time for Star Wars now, and I think it’s really exciting that we now have this period where there are other storytellers coming in and giving their take on the universe. But of course, it all goes back to the Maker, and George Lucas is very much at the front of everyone’s mind when we’re making a decision.”

    This is pretty bad news. Pretty pretty pretty prettyyyyyyyy bad.

    Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming to an end.

    The news was made official by HBO today, when they announced the beloved comedy series would return for its 12 (and now final) season early in 2024. New episodes will premiere weekly from February to April, with the series farewell premiering on April 7.

    The news is sad but not entirely shocking. Back in March, one of Curb’s producers posted a message on social media “Maybe you love the show. Maybe you hate the show. Maybe you don’t give a s—. In any event, shooting the last scene of the last episode of the final season” along with a behind-the-scenes photo.”

    HBO didn’t confirm those comments were accurate, but they certainly were a pretty strong indication that this season would be the last.

    Surely no one would have predicted Curb would last this long. Seinfeld only aired on NBC for nine seasons — and Larry David quit the show after the seventh year. Granted, Seinfeld had to churn out 20+ episodes every single year, while David has often taken his time returning to the show to make new shows, and typically only about 10 or so a season. Still, Curb Your Enthusiasm debuted on HBO in 2000! The comedy special it spun out off aired in 1999! It’s been on for almost a quarter of a century. Pretty much every other facet of the world, television, and comedy has changed in that time. Somehow, “Larry David” hung in there until now.

    The final (sob) season of Curb Your Enthusiasm premieres on HBO and Max on Sunday, February 4 at 10PM ET. The final season consists of ten episodes.

    One of the greatest TV actors in history has died. Andre Braugher, best known for his work as policemen on the drama series Homicide: Life on the Street and the comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, passed away on Monday after what his publicist only described in the press as “a brief illness.” Braugher was only 61 years old.

    Braugher was born in Chicago and attended the Julliard School. His first role came in film, appearing as one of the soldiers in Glory the Civil War drama about a regiment of African American soldiers in the Union Army. Braugher made many more appearances in movies, including roles in Primal Fear, Get on the Bus, City of Angels, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Salt, and his most recent project, She Said, where he gave a typically sturdy performance as New York Times editor Dean Baquet.

    But Braugher was far better known for his work on television, where he had two extremely memorable long-term roles, and many other appearances. He played sidekick to Telly Savalas’ Kojak in a series of TV movies, and then became a cast member on the cop series Homicide: Life on the Street. Inspired by the non-fiction book about the Baltimore Police Department — and in many ways a forerunner to Simon’s influential HBO series The Wire — Homicide was never a ratings smash during its seven seasons on NBC, but it routinely ranked amongst the most critically acclaimed shows of its era, with Braugher’s performance as master detective Frank Pembleton routinely being singled out for praise.

    In 1998, Braugher won the Primetime Emmy for Best Actor for his intense performance as Pembleton. (Braugher was nominated for a total of 11 Emmys and one two; the second came as Best Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his role in the FX series Thief.)

    Braugher appeared on six of Homicide’s seven seasons, and returned for the series-concluding Homicide: The Movie. More recently, Braugher had a second run on a hit police series when he played Captain Raymond Holt on the comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Braugher appeared as Holt on all eight seasons of the series, and remained with the show as it bounced from Fox to NBC.

    In between Homicide and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Braugher starred in both seasons of the award-winning Men of a Certain Age and both seasons of the CBS crime series Hack. He also starred in the lead role on Gideon’s Crossing, the medical drama that aired for one season in 2000 and 2001 on ABC, and had memorable recurring roles on shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, House, and BoJack Horseman, where he voiced California Governor Woodchuck Coodchuck-Berkowitz.

    As that variety of credits suggests, Braugher was a remarkable talent with an enormous range. He was equally at home in gritty drama as he was in broad comedy. There was seemingly no end to what he could do. This is a terrible loss.

    The U.S. economy continues to grow despite the 5.5% benchmark federal funds interest rate set by the Federal Reserve in 2023.

    The Fed’s leaders expect their interest rate decisions to eventually slow that growth.

    The increase in borrowing costs that stems from Fed decisions does not affect all consumers immediately. It typically affects people who need to take new loans — first-time homebuyers, for example. Other dynamics, such as the use of contracts in business, can slow the ripple of Fed decisions through an economy.

    “It might not all hit at once, but the longer rates stay elevated, the more you’re going to feel those effects,” said Sarah House, managing director and senior economist at Wells Fargo.

    “Consumers did have additional savings that we wouldn’t have expected if they had continued to save at the same pre-Covid rate. And so that’s giving some more insulation in terms of their need to borrow,” said House. “That’s an example of why this cycle might be different in terms of when those lags hit, versus compared to prior cycles.”

    A 1% interest rate increase can reduce gross domestic product by 5% for 12 years after an unexpected hike, according to a research paper from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

    “It’s bad in the short term because we worry about unemployment, we worry about recessions,” said Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president of the American Action Forum, referring to the paper’s implications for central bank policymakers. “It’s bad in the long term because that’s where increases in your wages come from; we want to be more productive.”

    Some economists say that financial markets may be responding to Federal Reserve policy more quickly, if not instantaneously. “Policy tightening occurs with the announcement of policy tightening, not when the rate change actually happens,” said Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller in remarks July 13 at an event in New York.

    “We’ve seen this cycle where the stock market moved more quickly in some cases, more slowly in other cases,” said Roger Ferguson, former vice chair of the Federal Reserve. “So, you know, this question of variability comes into play, as in how long it’s going to take. We think it’s a long time, but sometimes it can be faster.”

    The couple announced their engagement back in May of 2021, shortly after the news of their dating went public. Dennings later revealed in an interview on the Drew Barrymore Show that the couple spontaneously proposed to each other at the same time.

    In true rock ‘n’ roll fashion, the Andrew W.K. and Dennings held a DIY wedding that they planned entirely themselves, according to the Vogue article.

    “I wanted our wedding to feel completely different from an ‘industry event’ in every way,” the bride told Vogue. “I even handmade all of our wedding florals, aisle pieces, and our ceremony arch, which took three entire days. I wanted to be hands-on with the entire experience and feel like we had built our moment together from scratch.”

    While on BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast, the actor was asked if he thought the new Daredevil series would be part of the Marvel Spotlight Banner. The purpose of the banner, which will include the upcoming Echo series, is to highlight more grounded stories that are focused on characters instead of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s overall continuity.

    “For sure,” D’Onofrio stated. “That’s my opinion, I imagine it would be. Nobody has said, ‘Hey, did you know this? This is happening’ — nobody said that. But it is of the same tone and feel [as Echo]. The attention that the big bosses are giving to it is extraordinary and Charlie [Cox] and I are just amazed at how much they care about this series. I can’t imagine it being treated any less.”

    In October, it was reported that Daredevil: Born Again was undergoing a “significant creative reboot” after the production break that came from the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were quietly taken off the project alongside the series’ directors, while certain scenes and episodes that were already finished will be retained with further serialized elements added.

    It’s the beginning of the end for Stranger Things.

    The highly anticipated and long delayed fifth and final season of the monstrously big Netflix show will reportedly begin production in January of 2024. That’s according to a new report in Variety.

    The scripts for the show’s final run were in development when the writers strike began in Hollywood earlier this year. The strike ultimately dragged on for 148 days before it was finally resolved and work on Stranger Things (and everything else in Hollywood) could resume.

    The final run of Stranger Things is expected to conclude the show’s primary storylines about the dark underworld beneath the quiet town of Hawkins, Indiana, but Netflix is supposedly planning at least one spinoff that would continue the universe of the show in some way. By the time the series ends its final episode, which will be in 2025 if not later, the show will have been airing on Netflix since 2016, meaning the cast (including a lot of actors who are still supposedly be playing teenagers) have spent some nine years inhabiting their characters. The show’s large primary cast will also grow to include The Terminator’s Linda Hamilton for this upcoming season.

    In the meantime, the first Stranger Things stage play, a prequel titled Stranger Things: The First Shadow, is now playing on the West End in London. Set in 1959 in the official continuity of the series, it explains the origins of several of the adult characters on the show, including Jim Hopper and Joyce, plus Henry Creel before he became the monstrous Vecna.

    The Night Agent Season 2 has cast a major role, as Amanda Warren will join series stars Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan in the upcoming installment of the hit Netflix action show.

    Who will Amanda Warren play in The Night Agent Season 2?

    Warren, who recently appeared opposite Jamie Foxx in the Prime Video movie The Burial, in addition to TV roles in East New York and The Leftovers, will portray Catherine Weaver. Per Deadline, Catherine is a veteran of the top-secret Night Action investigative program.

    She trains trains and oversees various Night Agents. That includes Basso’s character, Peter Sutherland. Catherine is described as “smart, private, and determined.” She also passionately defends her agents, but she does find it hard to earn Peter’s trust as he struggles with betrayal issues stemming from the events of the first season.

    Along with Basso and Buchanan as Rose Larkin, the cast of season 1 included Oscar nominee Hong Chau as Diane Farr, Sarah Desjardins as Maddie Redfield, Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington, Eve Harlow as Ellen, Enrique Murciano as Ben Almora, Phoenix Raei as Dale, and D.B. Woodside as Erik Monks.

    The Night Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2024. Shawn Ryan serves as showrunner and he executive produces alongside Seth Gordon, Marney Hochman for MiddKid Productions, Julia Gunn for Exhibit A, Jamie Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and Nicole Tossou for Project X, and David Beaubaire for Sunset Lane Media. The series hails from Sony Pictures Television Studios.

    We have yet to feel the full effects of the double strikes that shut down Hollywood for a good portion of this year, and whether it was because we were paying more attention to things or because it was an unusually good year, television felt especially robust in 2023. Across genres and formats, TV shows repeatedly exceeded our expectations, and when our old favorites made their inevitable final bow, new gems stepped into their place.

    Many wondered, after the end of Succession, if there would ever be a show that held our collective attention so intently (that is, until House of the Dragon comes back). What we saw instead was an eclectic mix that matches a variety of tastes, from stress-laden half-hour cooking dramas to animated series that pushed the boundaries of the medium. Plus one outstanding video game adaptation and a show where a guy had no idea the trial he was involved in was completely fake. He was a good sport about it, though.

    To celebrate the year in television, we’ve picked 12 shows that not only stood out from the rest in terms of cast, writing, and sheer storytelling power, but also defined the ever changing landscape of short-form television, whether by splitting a complex story into digestible chunks or by bringing back the case-of-the-week.     The fight began in the kitchen at the beginning of the latest Bigg Boss 17 episode and continued till the end. Abhishek Kumar and Isha Malviya both crossed limits. It was an ugly show of bringing each other down. And the funny thing is, they were not in the picture at first. Abhishek was fighting with Aishwarya and Khanzaadi entered and then Isha gave her opinion which triggered Abhishek. Things took a nastier turn pretty quickly. Samarth Jurel was also poking Abhishek, but the latter ignored him completely and fought with Isha throughout.     I’m not sure if Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a good movie of if it is a great work of star self-mythologizing. The film version saw two of the most beautiful people in the world — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie — playing a married couple who do not realize that both are assassins until they are hired to kill each other.

    The film itself eventually became subsumed by what happened during its production: Jolie and Pitt became romantically involved and then got married. The two eventually divorced, but at the time of the movie’s release, the allure of seeing some reflection of their real relationship onscreen was a huge reason why Mr. & Mrs. Smith became a hit, and wound up grossing almost half a billion dollars worldwide.

    I’m not sure what that means for this new TV version of the same premise, with Donald Glover and Maya Erskine in the Pitt and Jolie roles. The concept is slightly different this time — instead of a couple who learns of their spouses’ secret identities, two strangers are paired to assume an identity as a married couple as part of their jobs as spies. So the tension is not the surprise of learning of a deception, it’s the suspense of seeing if they can pull off a shared deception. Take a look at the trailer below:

    The show was first announced with Glover starring opposite Phoebe Waller-Bridge, but she eventually left the project and was replaced by Erskine. Here is the series’ official synopsis:

    In this version of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, two lonely strangers land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travel, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan. The catch? New identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now hitched, John and Jane navigate a high-risk mission every week while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?

    Mr. & Mrs. Smith will premiere on Prime Video on February 2; all eight episodes will premiere on that date.

    In another example of our oh so dystopian lives imitating art, Netflix has renewed their Squid Game competition series, Squid Game: The Challenge — which takes the central conceit of a deadly game with a massive cash prize from the fictional Netflix series Squid Game and turns it into an actual (not deadly, presumably) game with a massive cash prize — for a second season.

    The Squid Game reality game show premiered recently on Netflix and has proven to be a significant hit in its own right. While it hasn’t attracted as many viewers as the fictional Squid Game, where these games were designed as a pointed commentary about the horrors of modern life and the evils of capitalism, The Challenge has been the most-watched English-language series on the streaming service for two straight weeks. It’s among the top 10 most-watched shows on Netflix in over 90 countries.

    In the competition series version of Squid Game (originally created by Hwang Dong-hyuk) 456 contestants battle in a series of games for a cash prize of $4.56 million. Netflix is also making a second season of the fictional Squid Game, as well as a video game based on the show.

    We’ve got into the Spider-Verse. We’ve gone across it. Now I guess we’re going to watch it on television.

    One of the more notable figures from the animated Spider-Verse movies (and the Marvel Comics before that) is expected to get his own TV series on Amazon’s Prime Video. That’s Spider-Man Noir, the black-clad spidery hero voiced in Into the Spider-Verse by Nicolas Cage.

    This show on Amazon would be a live-action production, and based on the description, it sounds a lot more like the original Spider-Man: Noir comics – which were gritty and dark and much more of a straightforward homage to old noir films than the winking spoof of crime movie tropes that Cage embodied quite effectively in the Spider-Verse movie.

    According to Variety, “the untitled series will follow an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York City. An individual with knowledge of the project says that the show will be set in its own universe and the main character will not be Peter Parker.” (In the very first Spider-Man: Noir miniseries, written by David Hine and Fabrice Sapolsky, and drawn by Carmine Di Giandomenico, Spider-Man was still secretly Peter Parker, even though he had a very different origin than the more famous Spidey of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s The Amazing Spider-Man comics, and dressed in a black outfit with a matching trench coat instead of blue and red Spandex.)

    The series has reportedly brought in Steve Lightfoot to serve as co-showrunner of the Noir series, alongside the previously hired Oren Uziel. Lightfood has previous Marvel TV experience; he created the Punisher show that was part of Netflix’s Marvel universe of shows a few years ago.

    This is one of several Spider-Man TV projects in development at Amazon. The streaming service is also working on a Silk: Spider Society show.

    Today at the CCXP23 convention in Brazil, HBO and Max premiered the first brief teaser for the upcoming second season of the show. Take a look at it below:

    HBO provided no synopsis for the season, saying only “Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” tells the story of House Targaryen.” Which … was pretty much the same as the first season.

    House of the Dragon Season 2 premieres on HBO and Max next summer. (A specific date has yet to be announced.) The season will consist of eight episodes.
