  • Miley Cyrus Will Appear in a ‘Hannah Montana’ 20th Anniversary Special

Somehow, Hannah Montana is 20 years old. The show itself is older than the title character by many years.

While I go lie down and contemplate my fleeting mortality, here is a fun bit of news: To celebrate this momentous and slightly horrifying anniversary, Disney is going to stream a Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special. And series star, Miley Cyrus, is confirmed to appear.

According to a press release, “the special will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and will feature an exclusive, in-depth interview with Miley Cyrus, hosted by Alex Cooper. The conversation will offer an intimate look at the creation of one of pop culture’s most iconic characters and the lasting impact the show and character have had on fans around the world. With heartfelt nostalgia and fresh perspective, Cyrus will revisit the moments, music and memories that defined an era. Viewers will be treated to never-before-seen archival footage, while some of the most memorable sets from “Hannah Montana” are brought back to life — including the Stewart family living room and the legendary Hannah Montana closet.”

Disney announced the special with a brief teaser video…

Hannah Montana aired on the Disney Channel starting in March of 2006. The show starred Cyrus as Miley Stewart, a teenager who is secretly also a world famous pop star named Hannah Montana. The show aired for four seasons and 100 episodes, launching Cyrus’ career as a TV and pop star.

The show also spawned a concert film, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, and a fictional feature film, Hannah Montana: The Movie, which opened in theaters in 2009. The final episode aired in January of 2011.

The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special airs on Disney+ on March 24.

  • ‘Spider-Noir’ Will Be Available In Color and Black-and-White Versions – And So Is the Show’s First Trailer

It’s only appropriate to watch a noir Spider-Man in black and white. But the new Spider-Noir TV series coming to Amazon’s Prime Video — starring Nicolas Cage as the title character — will be available in two different formats. Fans can watch it in either “Authentic Black & White” or in “True-Hue Full Color.”

Fittingly, there are two different trailers for the show; one in black and white and one in color. First, here is the black and white version, introducing the live-action version of Spider-Man Noir, who Cage previously voiced in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

READ MORE: Every Spider-Man Movie and Spinoff, Ranked From Worst to Best

And here is the color version of the same trailer. (Black and white just looks better, in my opinion)…

The Spider-Man Noir character was created by writers David Hine and Fabrice Sapolsky and artist Carime Di Giandomenico, with a costume designed by Marko Djurdjević. He was just one of several “Noir” versions of classic Marvel characters that the company published in the late 2000s and early 2010s. (There was also X-Men NoirDaredevil Noir, and Iron Man Noir, among others.) He got a major boost in profile from his inclusion in Into the Spider-Verse, with a wry vocal performance by Cage. (Interestingly, Noir is a bit of a comic relief figure in Spider-Verse, but the TV show looks darker and more overtly noirish.)

The Spider-Noir TV series is produced and co-showrun by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot. They also developed the series, working with the Spider-Verse producing team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.

Noir is now Cage’s second live-action Marvel superhero; he previously played Ghost Rider in two movies that were released in 2007 and 2011. In a million years, I would never have predicted we get a Spider-Man Noir TV series before we got a new live-action Spider-Man series. Granted, I would never have predicted a Spider-Noir TV series period.

Here is the series’ official synopsis:

Spider-Noir is a live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir. Spider-Noir tells the story of Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), a seasoned, down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero.

Spider-Noir will debut on Amazon’s Prime Video on May 27. It will premiere prior to that on the MGM+ linear broadcast channel on May 25.

  • HGTV Cancels ‘Rehab Addict’ After Host Is Caught On Camera Using Racial Slur

HGTV has canceled the TV series Rehab Addict, which has aired on the network since 2014, after a video surfaced online of series host Nicole Curtis using a racial slur on camera.

The video was published by Radar Online, and shows Curtis working on a renovation project for the series. After getting frustrated with an uncooperative building material, she blurts out the slur, then quickly questions what she’s said.

“What the f— was that that I just said?” Curtis says in the clip, before asking “Can you kill that?” to the crew, meaning delete the footage.

After the footage instead appeared online, HGTV pulled the show from its schedule. In a statement they said…

HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict … Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees – it does not align with the values of HGTV. Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms.

Those platforms also include streaming. If you Google “Rehab Addict” and streaming, you’ll get a link to the show on HBO Max. But when you click the link, it takes you to a page that reads “Content Not Available.”

Rehab Addict first debuted on DIY back in 2010; it moved to HGTV in 2014. The show follows Curtis on home renovation projects in older homes. Eight seasons of the series have been produced to date.

After the video leaked online, Curtis told TMZ “I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone.” According to TMZ, Rehab Addict was previously set to return to the air with new episodes this week.

Curtis added “I’m grateful for the 15-year journey we’ve shared. It’s been a meaningful chapter, but my focus isn’t on my career. My focus, at this moment is rightfully on my relationships, and my community — the people who truly know my character and where my heart is.”

  • James Van Der Beek, ‘Dawson’s Creek’ Star, Dies at 48

Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek has died.

The talented actor, who also memorably played himself on the TV series Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, has battled colorectal cancer since 2023.

“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning,” reads a post on the star’s Instagram page. “He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”

Van Der Beek was only 48 years old.

Van Der Beek remains best known for his starring role as aspiring filmmaker Dawson Leery on the late ’90s WB teen drama Dawson’s Creek. The series, which also starred Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, and Joshua Jackson, became a major hit for the network, inspiring numerous copycats and launching the careers of all four of its central stars.

Born in March of 1977, Van Der Beek grew up in Connecticut and began working in theater while he was still a teenager. He landed the lead role in Dawson’s Creek while he was still in college. The show wound up airing for six seasons and 128 episodes, with Dawson at the center of all the romantic tension between the various characters.

After the series ended, Van Der Beek played a fictional version of himself for two seasons on the ABC sitcom Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. On the show, Van Der Beek was now a struggling actor post-Dawson’s who was friends with the title character, played by Krysten Ritter.

Van Der Beek also held starring roles on CSI: Cyber and Pose, and appeared in movies like Varsity BluesTexas Rangers, and The Rules of Attraction.

His Dawson’s Creek cast mates reunited last fall for a fundraiser and script reading designed to benefit Van Der Beek and F Cancer. Van Der Beek was originally scheduled to attend but had to miss the event due to a stomach virus. In a video message played at the event, Van Der Beek said “I can’t believe I don’t get to hug my cast mates. I wanted to stand on that stage and thank every single person in this theater for being here tonight.”

  • The Co-Creator of ‘He-Man’ Turns to Crowdfunding for Medical Care

The wife of Roger Sweet, one of the core creators behind He-Man, is crowdfunding to help pay for her husband’s expensive medical bills in the wake of the toy industry icon’s dementia diagnosis.

Marlene Sweet, who has been married to Roger for nearly 40 years, has set up a GoFundMe campaign asking fans for help to raise funds so Roger, nearly 91 years old, can get the medical care he needs at a facility specializing in memory care.

“His illness has continued [to] progress, and I have done all I can to take care of his needs at home. He went back for a walk and returned much later than usual and very tired. I discovered terrible bruising on his side and much disorientation, and when asked what happened he did not remember … falling [and] getting this injury,” Marlene shares in the campaign description.

Marlene says her husband was sent to the ER, where doctors discovered “two brain bleeds.” Roger was admitted to the ICU and stayed in the hospital for about a week, where he appeared “very distracted” and “confused.” She says doctors consider him at “high risk for falls” and have urged Roger to use a walker, but he continues to “walk around in a confused state.”

Now, Marlene says, doctors have decided it would be best for Roger to live in a memory care facility, where “he can be monitored and safe” amid his “mental decline.” However, the facility Roger is currently staying at costs more than $10,000 per month, which is “well above” the couple’s income and is apparently not covered by Medicare.

“I am reaching out to all the He-Man fans for help with these bills. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will [assist with] the burden of this new expense,” Marlene concludes her message.

READ MORE: LEGO Is Releasing a KPop Demon Hunters Collaboration

Roger Sweet’s situation has touched many He-Man fans. As of publishing, the campaign has raised nearly $15,000 of its $50,000 goal.

“Masters of the Universe inspired me as a kid and I’m happy to help donate here to thank Roger for his incredible creation. I am currently the primary caretaker for my dad, who also has dementia, and I understand the staggering costs associated with memory care … especially for a good facility. I hope you are able to get all of the help you need to cover this,” one donator commented.

“So many thanks for an adventurous childhood playtime because of your creativity. My kids now play with their uncle’s old He-Man set, so Roger’s creativity is still shaping young minds!” another fan who donated commented.

Roger, the toy designer who is credited with creating the iconic He-Man character from the Masters of the Universe franchise alongside Mark Taylor, worked for Mattel nearly two decades in the 1970s and 1980s. He reportedly came up with the name of the iconic action hero and is responsible for pitching the toy concept and its initial prototype to Mattel in 1980.

He-Man officially launched in 1982. Over the past 40-plus years, the franchise has generated hundreds of millions in toy revenue for Mattel. A new live-action He-Man film titled Masters of the Universe is scheduled for release in theaters on June 5, 2026.

  • ‘Jurassic Park’ Super Bowl Ad Reunites Original Cast to Reveal What Would Have Happened if the Park Survived

Every year’s slate of Super Bowl ads includes at least one or two big pop culture reunions, bringing together some beloved icons who don’t tend to hang out very often in order to shill for some product or another. This year, the stars getting back together include the original cast of Jurassic Park: Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, who recreated their famous looks from the film more than 30 years later as part of a spot for Xfinity.

The ad imagines how Jurassic Park would have been different if, when Dennis Nedry sabotaged the entire island’s security system, Richard Attenborough’s John Hammond had paid for better wifi service. As it turns out, a lot! None of the dinosaurs would get out, and Dr. Grant, Dr. Sadler, and Dr. Malcolm all get to enjoy a lovely, relaxing weekend at Jurassic Park, precisely how Hammond intended.

You can watch the extended version of the ad below.

READ MORE: The 15 Best Super Bowl Ads Ever

This behind the scenes video shows a little of how the commercial was made. It also reveals it was directed by Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi.

It actually would have been really funny if a big plot point in Jurassic Park had been Samuel L. Jackson calling customer service and having to sit through a endless automated operator, asking it if it’s calling about the account associated with the address “1 Jurassic Park Drive” and demanding it say, in a few words, what problem he’s calling for today, only to be told that the way to fix the issue was to unplug the router, then wait five minutes, then plug it back in, then wait five more minutes.

Actually, we already know what would happen if Jurassic Park had been allowed to open. It was called Jurassic World, and it showed that even if you have good wifi and you invite the public to your park full of dinosaurs, it will eventually collapse into chaos anyway. Life finds a way, guys.

Super Bowl LX, and all of its affiliated commercials, airs this Sunday on NBC and Peacock. Kickoff time is 6:30 PM ET.

  • Catherine O’Hara, ‘Home Alone’ and ‘SCTV’ Star, Dies at 71

Catherine O’Hara, the beloved star of films like Home Alone and series like SCTV and Schitt’s Creek has died.

O’Hara’s passing was reported by TMZ and confirmed by Variety. O’Hara was only 71 years old. She reportedly died after “a brief illness.”

Born in 1954 and raised in Toronto, O’Hara’s big break in comedy came when O’Hara joined the cast of SCTV, the sketch series from the Toronto branch of Second City. Although she did some work in film and TV through the 1980s, appearing in films like Martin Scorsese’s After Hours, O’Hara’s movie career got a major boost when she played Deelia Deetz, stepmother to Winona Ryder’s Lydia in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. (O’Hara returned to play Delia a second time in 2024’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.)

READ MORE: The 20 Best Movies of the Year

Two years later, O’Hara appeared in four films in one year, most importantly Home Alone, the generational favorite family comedy about a boy named Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) who gets forgotten by his family when they head to Europe for a vacation. As the boy’s mother, Kate McCallister, O’Hara played the heart of the film, the mom who moves heaven and earth to get back to her son on Christmas, and she shares several lovely scenes in the film with Culkin and the late, great John Candy, who she had worked with on SCTV. O’Hara later reprised her role in the sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

In the decades since the Home Alones, O’Hara has rarely gone a year or two without appearing on movie screens. Her funniest work may have come in the improvised films of director Christopher Guest of the 1990s and 2000s, including Waiting for GuffmanA Mighty Wind, and Best in Show.

O’Hara was also a prolific voice actor who could be heard in movies like Chicken LittleMonster HouseOver the HedgeElementalFrankenweenie, and Where the Wild Things Are. Her best-known voice role was probably the unforgettable Sally from Henry Selick’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

In recent years, O’Hara’s best roles came on television. She won an Emmy for her work on Schitt’s Creek as family matriarch Moira. The show reunited her with another former SCTV co-star, Eugene Levy, who created the series with his son Dan Levy.

After the end of Schitt’s Creek, O’Hara joined Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s The Studio, where she played Rogen’s character’s mentor and former boss, Patty. That show earned her a nomination for another Emmy. She also appeared on the revival of The Kids in the Hall and the second season of The Last of Us.

This is already an impressive resume, but it barely scratchers the surface of her nearly 50-year Hollywood career. Beetlejuice and Home Alone, two very different mother characters from one of the funniest actors of her generation, ensure she will be remembered for decades to come.

  • A Marvel Hero Returns For the First Time in Years in the ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Trailer

It’s not just Daredevil who’s born again on the new season of Daredevil: Born Again.

The show also features the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, the Marvel private eye character who had her own show on Netflix alongside Daredevil, and then appeared with him in Netflix’s The Defenders series. Ritter’s Jones, a detective and former superhero with powers of her own, hasn’t been seen since the end of her show in 2019.

In addition to Ritter and Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Born Again Season 2 also stars Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin, plus Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, and Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn. If you spotted Matthew Lillard in the trailer, he’s supposedly playing “the mysterious Mr. Charles.”

After a rocky start to its production in which the series’ original showrunners were let go after multiple episodes were filmed so it could be reshot and go in a different creative direction, Born Again Season 1 got some of Marvel’s stronger reviews of any of their TV series. A lot of that probably had to do with the returns of Cox and DOnofrio, who are very good in their roles no matter what’s going on in the series around them.

Here is the series’ Season 2 synopsis:

In Season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.

  • Darth Maul Gets His Own TV Series – Watch the Trailer

You can’t keep a good Sith down. Even a really bad one.

He might have died more than 25 years ago in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (uh, spoilers), but Darth Maul has returned over and over again in a string of cartoons and live-action movies. Now he’s getting his own TV series, an animated show on Disney+ called Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord

It takes place after the events of the Clone Wars and shows how Maul fighting to launch a criminal empire. Its Maul is voiced by Sam Witwer, who previously portrayed the character on The Clone Wars animated series and voiced him in his brief appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story as well.

The series was created by Dave Filoni, the long-time Star Wars guru behind The Clone Wars animated series, and the newly-installed head of creative at Lucasfilm. Watch the trailer for Maul – Shadow Lord below:

There’s a new poster for the series as well.

Has any fictional character in any franchise gotten more mileage out of an incredible design and not a whole lot else than Darth Maul? He looks incredible. With the horns and the facial tattoos and that double-sided lightsaber, he strikes such an imposing silhouette. And … uh … well … well, he really does look great! Beyond that, I’ve never quite understood the appeal to keep bringing him back over and over again. But maybe in an animated series about a mysterious antihero carving up the galaxy, you don’t really need much more than that.

Here is the series’ official synopsis:

Set after the events of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” this pulpy adventure finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. There, he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who could be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit for revenge.

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres on Disney+ on April 6 with two episodes. Two more follow each week through the finale on May 4.

  • Pokémon Is Coming to Universal Theme Parks

Pokémon and Universal are teaming up for what the companies are describing as “innovative, immersive, and world-class” attractions.

The hugely popular and long-running multimedia franchise will first debut at Universal’s park in Japan. Following that, according to the press release, “Universal Destinations & Experiences will deliver unique Pokémon experiences across the company’s global footprint.”

Further details about the project, they claim, will be announced at a later date. So let your speculation about what a Pokémon ride or area could entail begin. (Universal and Pokémon have previously partnered on parades and shows at Universal Studios Japan.)

Here was Universal Destinations & Experiences CEO Mark Woodbury’s statement on the news:

Collaborating with imaginative and inventive storytellers fuels our ability to create and deliver mind-blowing attractions and experiences that shatter guest expectations. The Pokémon Company is one of the most beloved interactive franchises in the world, and through our ongoing partnership, we will continue bringing its vibrant world to life in new and innovative ways for years to come.

Universal has already had enormous success through a similar partnership with Nintendo. In less than a decade, they have built Super Nintendo Worlds in three of their parks. Just like this Pokémon deal, they started with one at Universal Studios Japan, followed by copies of that original area at Universal Studios Hollywood and the new Epic Universe park in Orlando, Florida.

The Nintendo land features multiple rides, including a Mario Kart attraction, as well as interactive games sprinkled throughout an environment designed to mimic the hyper-colorful world of Super Mario video games. Win enough mini games around the land and you can then access a boss battle.

Given Pokémon’s emphasis on collection, it’s easy to envision a similar theme park concept for it: An area where you can find Pokémon and then use them in some kind of battle via your smartphone or some kind of accessory (at Super Nintendo World, you have to buy a band to play the games and fight the boss).

  • Netflix Just Canceled This Brand New Western Drama Only One Month After Its Premiere

Netflix’s latest Western-set drama, The Abandons, is now but a mere tumbleweed in the desolate prairie of the streamer’s many abandoned series.

The new Western drama from Sons of Anarchy showrunner Kurt Sutter had its plug mercilessly pulled by Netflix Wednesday (January 21) after just one month since it first premiered on the service.

Set in a mining town in the old Washington Territory in the 1850s, the show follows a devout Irish woman named Fiona Nolan who, along with her orphaned found family, engages in a high-stakes power struggle against a ruthless, corrupt silver mine owner named Constance Van Ness after the latter claims ownership of Fiona’s farm.

The drama stars Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) as Fiona Nolan and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) as Constance Van Ness, alongside a cast also including Nick Robinson, Patton Oswalt, Lucas Till, and more.

The Abandons premiered on Netflix on December 4, 2025. The first and only season consists of seven episodes.

Back in December, The Abandons was briefly in the Top 10 of Netflix’s most-watched shows.

Despite its star-studded cast, sprawling story, and high-cost production, the series failed to keep an audience, with viewership rapidly declining after just two weeks following its premiere date. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series currently has a middling audience score of 52 percent. Its critical score is even worse at just 30 percent.

Netflix ordered The Abandons to production in 2022. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sutter departed the series during production in the fall of 2024, with just a few weeks left of filming. He reportedly left due to creative differences.

The Abandons’ cancellation is an unusual bump in the dirt road for streaming and TV’s current trend of Western-themed and Western-set series, which have become increasingly popular in recent years, especially in the wake of Yellowstone’s successful run between 2018 to 2024.

Netflix’s Western romance series Ransom Canyon, which stars Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly and follows a trio of ranching families, was renewed last year just two months after the show first premiered.

Landman, Paramount+’s West Texas-set oil drama starring Billy Bob Thorton and Ali Larter, was also renewed for a third season back in December.

  • The 10 Most Offensive Reality TV Shows Ever Made

There’s a reason we call reality shows “trash TV.” A lot of it is terrible! Of course, the point of reality shows isn’t to be “good” — you won’t find any Sopranos-level drama on Vanderpump Rules or Real Housewives. The joy of reality television is that it is garbage, and all the more entertaining for it. Still, not all reality shows are created equal. Some are a whole lot worse than others.

When we’re talking about shows that give the very concept of reality TV a bad name, there are plenty that spring to mind. Most of these (but not all) were blessedly short-lived attempts to shock and amaze their viewers with whatever depraved notions their creators could imagine and convince multiple groups of people to play along with. At this point, whatever ill-conceived dating show or exploitative docuseries you can think up has probably been cast, filmed, and broadcast on one of many cable networks already, and we can only be thankful that the worst are no longer around.

Gone but not forgotten — certainly not forgotten by the likes of us. No, there’s nothing we love more than digging through the grime of all that entertainment has to offer and plucking out the truly bad eggs, which is exactly what we’ve done here. You’ll find everything from rudely executed hotness competitions to race-swapping families to dating shows with gross twists, and even one where they marooned a bunch of children in an empty town and told them all to figure it out for themselves. Welcome to the slop zone. Swim at own risk.

  • Hit Hulu TV Show Releases Surprise Episode

As it officially returns for its third season, Hulu has surprised subscribers with a three-episode premiere of its popular drama series from executive producer Emma Roberts.

Per THR, instead of just debuting Tell Me Lies Season 3’s first two episodes, the streamer has also released the latest installment’s third episode, titled “Repent,” today. This comes more than a year after Season 2 concluded its 8-episode run on Hulu.

What do we know about Hulu’s Tell Me Lies Season 3?

“Season 3 follows Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco as they rekindle their tumultuous romance in time for the spring semester at Baird College. While they promise things will be different this time, past indiscretions hinder their best intentions, and Lucy finds herself embroiled in a controversy she wants nothing to do with,” reads the show’s new synopsis. “Meanwhile, the disastrous repercussions from the previous year also force Lucy and Stephen’s friends to face their own destructive behaviors. As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.”

Tell Me Lies is created and executive-produced by Meaghan Oppenheimer based on Carola Lovering’s 2018 novel of the same name. The show stars Grace Van Patten, Jackson White, Cat Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, Alicia Crowder, and Costa D’Angelo. Roberts is serving as an executive producer along with Karah Preiss and Matt Matruski under their Belletrist banner. Stephanie Noonan, Sam Schlaifer, Laura Lewis, and director Tyne Rafaeli are also executive producers, with Lovering set as a consulting producer. It is a production by 20th Television.
