  • ‘Jurassic Park’ Super Bowl Ad Reunites Original Cast to Reveal What Would Have Happened if the Park Survived

Every year’s slate of Super Bowl ads includes at least one or two big pop culture reunions, bringing together some beloved icons who don’t tend to hang out very often in order to shill for some product or another. This year, the stars getting back together include the original cast of Jurassic Park: Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, who recreated their famous looks from the film more than 30 years later as part of a spot for Xfinity.

The ad imagines how Jurassic Park would have been different if, when Dennis Nedry sabotaged the entire island’s security system, Richard Attenborough’s John Hammond had paid for better wifi service. As it turns out, a lot! None of the dinosaurs would get out, and Dr. Grant, Dr. Sadler, and Dr. Malcolm all get to enjoy a lovely, relaxing weekend at Jurassic Park, precisely how Hammond intended.

You can watch the extended version of the ad below.

READ MORE: The 15 Best Super Bowl Ads Ever

This behind the scenes video shows a little of how the commercial was made. It also reveals it was directed by Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi.

It actually would have been really funny if a big plot point in Jurassic Park had been Samuel L. Jackson calling customer service and having to sit through a endless automated operator, asking it if it’s calling about the account associated with the address “1 Jurassic Park Drive” and demanding it say, in a few words, what problem he’s calling for today, only to be told that the way to fix the issue was to unplug the router, then wait five minutes, then plug it back in, then wait five more minutes.

Actually, we already know what would happen if Jurassic Park had been allowed to open. It was called Jurassic World, and it showed that even if you have good wifi and you invite the public to your park full of dinosaurs, it will eventually collapse into chaos anyway. Life finds a way, guys.

Super Bowl LX, and all of its affiliated commercials, airs this Sunday on NBC and Peacock. Kickoff time is 6:30 PM ET.

  • Catherine O’Hara, ‘Home Alone’ and ‘SCTV’ Star, Dies at 71

Catherine O’Hara, the beloved star of films like Home Alone and series like SCTV and Schitt’s Creek has died.

O’Hara’s passing was reported by TMZ and confirmed by Variety. O’Hara was only 71 years old. She reportedly died after “a brief illness.”

Born in 1954 and raised in Toronto, O’Hara’s big break in comedy came when O’Hara joined the cast of SCTV, the sketch series from the Toronto branch of Second City. Although she did some work in film and TV through the 1980s, appearing in films like Martin Scorsese’s After Hours, O’Hara’s movie career got a major boost when she played Deelia Deetz, stepmother to Winona Ryder’s Lydia in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. (O’Hara returned to play Delia a second time in 2024’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.)

READ MORE: The 20 Best Movies of the Year

Two years later, O’Hara appeared in four films in one year, most importantly Home Alone, the generational favorite family comedy about a boy named Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) who gets forgotten by his family when they head to Europe for a vacation. As the boy’s mother, Kate McCallister, O’Hara played the heart of the film, the mom who moves heaven and earth to get back to her son on Christmas, and she shares several lovely scenes in the film with Culkin and the late, great John Candy, who she had worked with on SCTV. O’Hara later reprised her role in the sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

In the decades since the Home Alones, O’Hara has rarely gone a year or two without appearing on movie screens. Her funniest work may have come in the improvised films of director Christopher Guest of the 1990s and 2000s, including Waiting for GuffmanA Mighty Wind, and Best in Show.

O’Hara was also a prolific voice actor who could be heard in movies like Chicken LittleMonster HouseOver the HedgeElementalFrankenweenie, and Where the Wild Things Are. Her best-known voice role was probably the unforgettable Sally from Henry Selick’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

In recent years, O’Hara’s best roles came on television. She won an Emmy for her work on Schitt’s Creek as family matriarch Moira. The show reunited her with another former SCTV co-star, Eugene Levy, who created the series with his son Dan Levy.

After the end of Schitt’s Creek, O’Hara joined Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s The Studio, where she played Rogen’s character’s mentor and former boss, Patty. That show earned her a nomination for another Emmy. She also appeared on the revival of The Kids in the Hall and the second season of The Last of Us.

This is already an impressive resume, but it barely scratchers the surface of her nearly 50-year Hollywood career. Beetlejuice and Home Alone, two very different mother characters from one of the funniest actors of her generation, ensure she will be remembered for decades to come.

  • A Marvel Hero Returns For the First Time in Years in the ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Trailer

It’s not just Daredevil who’s born again on the new season of Daredevil: Born Again.

The show also features the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, the Marvel private eye character who had her own show on Netflix alongside Daredevil, and then appeared with him in Netflix’s The Defenders series. Ritter’s Jones, a detective and former superhero with powers of her own, hasn’t been seen since the end of her show in 2019.

    DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN SEASON 2

    Marvel Television

Seven years later, she shows up in the trailer for Born Again Season 2 — which you can watch below.

READ MORE: 12 Actors Who Have Played Multiple Marvel Roles

In addition to Ritter and Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Born Again Season 2 also stars Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin, plus Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, and Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn. If you spotted Matthew Lillard in the trailer, he’s supposedly playing “the mysterious Mr. Charles.”

After a rocky start to its production in which the series’ original showrunners were let go after multiple episodes were filmed so it could be reshot and go in a different creative direction, Born Again Season 1 got some of Marvel’s stronger reviews of any of their TV series. A lot of that probably had to do with the returns of Cox and DOnofrio, who are very good in their roles no matter what’s going on in the series around them.

Here is the series’ Season 2 synopsis:

In Season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on March 24.

  • Darth Maul Gets His Own TV Series – Watch the Trailer

You can’t keep a good Sith down. Even a really bad one.

He might have died more than 25 years ago in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (uh, spoilers), but Darth Maul has returned over and over again in a string of cartoons and live-action movies. Now he’s getting his own TV series, an animated show on Disney+ called Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord

It takes place after the events of the Clone Wars and shows how Maul fighting to launch a criminal empire. Its Maul is voiced by Sam Witwer, who previously portrayed the character on The Clone Wars animated series and voiced him in his brief appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story as well.

The series was created by Dave Filoni, the long-time Star Wars guru behind The Clone Wars animated series, and the newly-installed head of creative at Lucasfilm. Watch the trailer for Maul – Shadow Lord below:

READ MORE: Every Star Wars Movie, Ranked From Worst to Best

There’s a new poster for the series as well.

Has any fictional character in any franchise gotten more mileage out of an incredible design and not a whole lot else than Darth Maul? He looks incredible. With the horns and the facial tattoos and that double-sided lightsaber, he strikes such an imposing silhouette. And … uh … well … well, he really does look great! Beyond that, I’ve never quite understood the appeal to keep bringing him back over and over again. But maybe in an animated series about a mysterious antihero carving up the galaxy, you don’t really need much more than that.

Here is the series’ official synopsis:

Set after the events of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” this pulpy adventure finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. There, he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who could be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit for revenge.

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres on Disney+ on April 6 with two episodes. Two more follow each week through the finale on May 4.

  • Pokémon Is Coming to Universal Theme Parks

Pokémon and Universal are teaming up for what the companies are describing as “innovative, immersive, and world-class” attractions.

The hugely popular and long-running multimedia franchise will first debut at Universal’s park in Japan. Following that, according to the press release, “Universal Destinations & Experiences will deliver unique Pokémon experiences across the company’s global footprint.”

Further details about the project, they claim, will be announced at a later date. So let your speculation about what a Pokémon ride or area could entail begin. (Universal and Pokémon have previously partnered on parades and shows at Universal Studios Japan.)

READ MORE: Fast & Furious Roller Coaster Is Coming to Universal Studios Florida

Here was Universal Destinations & Experiences CEO Mark Woodbury’s statement on the news:

Collaborating with imaginative and inventive storytellers fuels our ability to create and deliver mind-blowing attractions and experiences that shatter guest expectations. The Pokémon Company is one of the most beloved interactive franchises in the world, and through our ongoing partnership, we will continue bringing its vibrant world to life in new and innovative ways for years to come.

Universal has already had enormous success through a similar partnership with Nintendo. In less than a decade, they have built Super Nintendo Worlds in three of their parks. Just like this Pokémon deal, they started with one at Universal Studios Japan, followed by copies of that original area at Universal Studios Hollywood and the new Epic Universe park in Orlando, Florida.

The Nintendo land features multiple rides, including a Mario Kart attraction, as well as interactive games sprinkled throughout an environment designed to mimic the hyper-colorful world of Super Mario video games. Win enough mini games around the land and you can then access a boss battle.

Given Pokémon’s emphasis on collection, it’s easy to envision a similar theme park concept for it: An area where you can find Pokémon and then use them in some kind of battle via your smartphone or some kind of accessory (at Super Nintendo World, you have to buy a band to play the games and fight the boss).

  • Netflix Just Canceled This Brand New Western Drama Only One Month After Its Premiere

Netflix’s latest Western-set drama, The Abandons, is now but a mere tumbleweed in the desolate prairie of the streamer’s many abandoned series.

The new Western drama from Sons of Anarchy showrunner Kurt Sutter had its plug mercilessly pulled by Netflix Wednesday (January 21) after just one month since it first premiered on the service.

Set in a mining town in the old Washington Territory in the 1850s, the show follows a devout Irish woman named Fiona Nolan who, along with her orphaned found family, engages in a high-stakes power struggle against a ruthless, corrupt silver mine owner named Constance Van Ness after the latter claims ownership of Fiona’s farm.

The drama stars Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) as Fiona Nolan and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) as Constance Van Ness, alongside a cast also including Nick Robinson, Patton Oswalt, Lucas Till, and more.

The Abandons premiered on Netflix on December 4, 2025. The first and only season consists of seven episodes.

READ MORE: New Shows and Movies on Netflix in February

Back in December, The Abandons was briefly in the Top 10 of Netflix’s most-watched shows.

Despite its star-studded cast, sprawling story, and high-cost production, the series failed to keep an audience, with viewership rapidly declining after just two weeks following its premiere date. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series currently has a middling audience score of 52 percent. Its critical score is even worse at just 30 percent.

Netflix ordered The Abandons to production in 2022. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sutter departed the series during production in the fall of 2024, with just a few weeks left of filming. He reportedly left due to creative differences.

The Abandons’ cancellation is an unusual bump in the dirt road for streaming and TV’s current trend of Western-themed and Western-set series, which have become increasingly popular in recent years, especially in the wake of Yellowstone’s successful run between 2018 to 2024.

Netflix’s Western romance series Ransom Canyon, which stars Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly and follows a trio of ranching families, was renewed last year just two months after the show first premiered.

Landman, Paramount+’s West Texas-set oil drama starring Billy Bob Thorton and Ali Larter, was also renewed for a third season back in December.

  • The 10 Most Offensive Reality TV Shows Ever Made

There’s a reason we call reality shows “trash TV.” A lot of it is terrible! Of course, the point of reality shows isn’t to be “good” — you won’t find any Sopranos-level drama on Vanderpump Rules or Real Housewives. The joy of reality television is that it is garbage, and all the more entertaining for it. Still, not all reality shows are created equal. Some are a whole lot worse than others.

When we’re talking about shows that give the very concept of reality TV a bad name, there are plenty that spring to mind. Most of these (but not all) were blessedly short-lived attempts to shock and amaze their viewers with whatever depraved notions their creators could imagine and convince multiple groups of people to play along with. At this point, whatever ill-conceived dating show or exploitative docuseries you can think up has probably been cast, filmed, and broadcast on one of many cable networks already, and we can only be thankful that the worst are no longer around.

Gone but not forgotten — certainly not forgotten by the likes of us. No, there’s nothing we love more than digging through the grime of all that entertainment has to offer and plucking out the truly bad eggs, which is exactly what we’ve done here. You’ll find everything from rudely executed hotness competitions to race-swapping families to dating shows with gross twists, and even one where they marooned a bunch of children in an empty town and told them all to figure it out for themselves. Welcome to the slop zone. Swim at own risk.

What do we know about Hulu’s Tell Me Lies Season 3?

As scandalous secrets fester around campus, vicious consequences threaten Lucy and everyone in her circle.”

  • Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 9 Theories Debunked

The finale of Stranger Things Season 5 aired last week, but fans still believe that a secret, bonus episode is coming. A recent report, though, has thrown water on those thoughts.

According to a new report from THR, Stranger Things Season 5 ended with its eighth episode, “Chapter 8: The Rightside Up,” which aired on Netflix on New Year’s Eve. The report notes that there is no secret, ninth episode of the show, and in a previous interview with THR, creators Matt and Ross Duffer expressed their view of this era of the cast definitively ending with it.

“Mike’s [Finn Wolfhard] closing the basement door. We’re closing the door on the story. That’s one reason we had the closing credits the way we did, because it was a way of saying: ‘This is finite. This is the end of their story. It’s the end of the story of Mike and Eleven and Joyce [Winona Ryder] and Hopper,’” said Matt Duffer. “So, no, there’s no plan or intention to [revisit] the story because it’s a coming-of age story. Ultimately, that’s what it’s supposed to be. That’s what the show always was. When he closes the door to the basement, he’s closing the door on his childhood and he’s moving onto adulthood.”

Why do fans believe a Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 9 is coming?

Stranger Things is no stranger (no pun intended) to the world of fan conspiracies. However, things went even further this past week, when fans began theorizing that Stranger Things hadn’t actually ended with the eighth episode of Season 5. According to the theory, dubbed “Conformity Gate” by fans online, the series finale was actually a red herring of an ending, which is theorized to be Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) tricking the children with a fake world.

The “real” ending, according to the theory, was set to be released in surprise fashion on January 7, a week from the fake finale’s release. However, no such episode has released, and it doesn’t seem likely that one will, either. The main cause for the theory, largely, seems to be that fans were unhappy with some of the ways the show wrapped up in its final season.

  • Here’s What Actually Happens to Eleven at the End of ‘Stranger Things’

Warning: This story contains major spoilers for the series finale of Stranger Things. Tread with caution.

The final-ever season of Stranger Things came to an epic, emotional close this past Wednesday (Dec. 31) when the finale premiered on Netflix. It’s been a thrilling near-decade-long ride for fans who have tuned in to watch the mysterious adventures of Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas ever since the ‘80s-set sci-fi coming-of-age series first premiered in the summer of 2016.

Now that it’s all over, we know how the story ends—with Vecna and the Mind Flayer defeated, the Upside Down destroyed for good, and Eleven seemingly left for dead following a heroic sacrifice to stop the government from using her blood to restart their experimental program to develop psychic children.

Does Eleven Really Die at the End of Stranger Things?

Eleven’s gut-wrenching apparent death comes when she decides to stay behind in the Upside Down—revealed in an earlier episode to be a wormhole connecting Earth to a far more sinister planetary dimension called the Abyss—as it collapses into the void of space. Persuaded earlier by her sister Kali, AKA 008, El seemingly decides to die in the Upside Down during a remote explosion so that the evil Dr. Kay cannot use her to restart their corrupt program with other kids, essentially ending the cycle of abuse. Before she sacrifices herself, Eleven briefly connects with Mike on the psychic plane, where the two share a passionate kiss and he pleads with her not to leave him.

However, during the finale’s epilogue, Mike suggests during a game of Dungeons & Dragons with Lucas, Max, Dustin, and Will that Eleven is still alive. He theorizes that a dying Kali, who was earlier mortally wounded by the military at the lab in the Upside Down, projected an illusion of El inside the portal to the Upside Down just moments prior to its destruction, leading everyone to believe El had died.

Mike believes that in the chaos of their capture, Eleven actually snuck away and escaped using one of the tunnels leading to the underground of Hawkins. He theorizes that from the lab in the Upside Down, Kali used the last of her strength to project an image of El, making everyone believe she had been destroyed along with the Upside Down.

READ MORE: A Dead ’80s Snack Has Been Resurrected Thanks to Stranger Things

According to series co-creator Ross Duffer, there was “never a version of the story where Eleven was hanging out with the gang at the end.”

“She represents magic in a lot of ways and the magic of childhood. For our characters to move on and for the story of Hawkins and the Upside Down to come to a close, Eleven had to go away. We thought it would be beautiful if our characters continued to believe in that happier ending even if we didn’t give them a clear answer to whether that’s true or not. The fact that they’re believing in it, we just thought it was such a better way to end the story and a better way to represent the closure of this journey and their journey from children to adults,” he shared in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum.

“Eleven had to go away” is an interesting choice of words here. While it’s ultimately left up to the audience to decide whether or not Mike’s optimistic story is true or just a coping mechanism for the heartbroken teen and his friends, I don’t think Eleven’s fate is quite as ambiguous as the Duffer Brothers have presented. In fact, I’d say she’s absolutely alive—and I think can prove it. Here’s why.

Kali Showed a Change of Heart After Hopper’s Speech to Eleven

For most of Season 5, Kali is adamant in her belief that the military will never stop pursuing Eleven and that El must die for the “cycle” of abuse to end. She never wavers from this ideology, and even during her scenes back in Season 2, it’s clear Kali is stalwart in her beliefs, pessimism, and mistrust of others, including Hopper.

However, you can physically see Kali’s feelings toward the situation shift during Hopper’s speech urging El to survive when they’re in the lab in the Upside Down. “I have to end the cycle,” Eleven explains to Hopper when he discovers her plan to sacrifice herself when they later destroy the Upside Down for good.

“You will, but not like this; not with more violence, not with more pain. There’s already been so much pain. From the moment you were born your mother was taken from you, your childhood was taken from you. You’ve been attacked, manipulated, abused by terrible people. Life has been so unfair to you, so cruel. But you never let it break you and I need you to fight, kid. I just need you to fight one last time. Fight for the happy days on the other side of this, fight for a world beyond Hawkins,” Hopper tells her.

It’s a poignant moment that appears to move even stubborn Kali, whose expression changes dramatically as she lowers her gun, which up until then has been pointed at Hopper. It’s made clear to the audience that Kali’s mind has been changed, and it’s very likely the moment that inspires her to later help El escape so that her sister can indeed “fight for a world beyond Hawkins.”

Eleven Couldn’t Have Slipped Past the Military Back Into the Upside Down

After the military intercepts the gang when they return from the Upside Down, they force everyone out of Murray’s truck and detain the kids against the vehicle. If you watch closely, you can see Eleven jump down out of the truck, but that’s the last time we see her. With military personnel flanking all sides, including near the portal, it would have been impossible for Eleven to make her way back into the Upside Down.

However, in the chaos, and with Kali’s help keeping El hidden via an invisibility illusion, El could have easily slipped into Radio Shack to make her escape, considering how close the storefront was to the truck. Her slipping away into an area no one was really paying attention to makes much more sense than her somehow crossing to the other side of the wide, busy street and making her way past dozens of military guards who were specifically looking for her.

Eleven Contacted Mike Using Her Psychic Abilities Despite the Sonic Devices

It’s been established that Eleven cannot use her psychic powers whatsoever in the presence of the military’s high-frequency sonic devices, AKA the “Kryptonite,” which have rendered El nearly immobile a number of times in Season 5. It’s also made incredibly clear during the scene after she and the gang flee the Upside Down after defeating Vecna that Dr. Kay and the military are actively blasting more than a few of those devices in her proximity. So, why doesn’t Eleven react in pain, panic, and discomfort like she normally does?

Like Mike suggests, if El were physically standing in (or even just past) the portal to the Upside Down, she would absolutely have been in range of the high-frequency blasts, which means she would not have been able to contact Mike for their heartbreaking farewell. It stands to reason, then, that she had already gotten far enough away from the sonic blasts to briefly connect with Mike using her abilities.

Eleven Didn’t Have a Nosebleed After She Tapped Into Mike’s Mind

During the entirety of the series, not once when Eleven has used her abilities to tap into the psychic plane has she not had a nosebleed afterward, but somehow the Eleven we see standing in the portal to the Upside Down shows no signs of blood on her face after she contacts Mike. Either this marks one of the most obvious continuity errors in a major TV series, like, ever, or it’s a sign that the Eleven we see standing in front of us is, in fact, an illusion.

Eleven Basically Tells Mike He’ll Figure Out the Truth Someday, and He Does

During Mike and Eleven’s final goodbye when she taps into his mind, Eleven tells Mike that while he may not understand now, “someday” he will realize why she made the choice she made. “I need you to talk to the others. I need you to thank them for me, for being so kind to me and teaching me what it means to be a friend … Mike, I need you to help them understand my choice,” Eleven says.

“But I don’t understand,” Mike replies.

“I know, but you will. One day you will. You understand me better than anyone. You always have, from the day we met,” she tells him.

It’s a bittersweet bookend to their childhood romance, as Eleven is basically telling Mike that he always made her feel understood and accepted. But it’s also a deeper hint that pays off 18 months later during the epilogue, when Mike, whose memory is jostled by an audio speaker during graduation, realizes that Eleven couldn’t have possibly used her abilities in her supposed final moments due to Dr. Kay’s sonic devices. This is the revelation El knew Mike would eventually make; the revelation that he would be able to share with their friends at the right time.

    attachment-Kali Stranger Things

Kali Could Have Survived Longer Than We Thought

Many have argued that Kali could not have projected the illusion of El because she would have died during the timed explosion on the roof of the lab. However, if you pay close attention to the explosion, it doesn’t destroy the lab, but simply destroys the exotic matter sphere floating above the facility, with the bright blue blast shooting outward in the sky. The walls of the wormhole then begin to break down, no longer held stable by the exotic matter.

If the lab is the epicenter of the wormhole, then theoretically, Kali would have been able to survive until the very end of its destruction because the walls of the wormhole would have broken down first, sucking all matter inside the Upside Down into the void of space outward moving in. As such, Kali would have been the most protected and lasted the longest at its epicenter, allowing her illusion of El to linger for as long as it did.

Eleven Doesn’t Get Sucked Into the Void — She Simply Vanishes

With buildings and cars and massive structures being pulled violently into the void of space all around her, Eleven stands suspiciously still and remains untouched by the thousands of particles of dirt and debris flying in the air for an unusual amount of time as the Upside Down collapses around her.

If she were physically standing there, she would have likely been pulled away into the void long before the moment we finally see her suddenly vanish. If anything, she would have at the very least swayed or showed some physical reaction to the storm-like environment around her. Instead, it stands to reason that the moment we see El disappear, seemingly behind a wash of grey debris, is actually the moment Kali finally dies, releasing her illusion of El.

You Can Hear Eleven’s Breath and Heartbeat After She ‘Dies’

Seconds before Eleven disappears in the collapsing Upside Down, she closes her eyes and you can hear a deep exhale. Then, she’s gone. What should have been her final breath, though, isn’t so final, as immediately after the wormhole vanishes and everything goes quiet, we hear another breath. My theory is that the first breath is Kali taking her final breath, while the second breath we hear is El inhaling as she takes the first breath of her new, free life, indicating she is alive and well somewhere off screen.

What’s more, if you listen very closely on high volume, you can also hear a faint heartbeat immediately before the epilogue begins, when the screen is still completely black. You can easily miss it as it’s very subtle and is immediately followed by the sound of a construction worker laying bricks as Hawkins gets rebuilt. Still, it’s very much there, and the only explanation for it is that it’s a hint that Eleven is alive.

Mike’s Basement Bookshelf Offers a Subtle Hint

At the end of the series finale, we get a fleeting look at the bookshelf on which Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, and Max store their D&D game books. If you look closely, you’ll find a title by John D. MacDonald called The Empty Copper Sea. (It’s especially visible in the behind-the-scenes image at the end of this Instagram gallery.)

Written in 1978, the mystery novel is about a man who fakes his death and flees to another country after seemingly drowning during a storm at sea. Sure, it could be a coincidence, but as we’ve seen historically during the series, there’s usually a good reason for these sorts of period-accurate references and Easter eggs. As for me, it’s more than enough to convince me that Eleven survived and is living her well-deserved best life. I believe.
