  • Tom Welling reveals he ‘wasn’t happy’ while filming Smallville

    [ad_1]

Tom Welling remains a fan-favorite of the Superman canon to this day, thanks to his 10-season run in Smallville; yet his time on set wasn’t always perfect, according to the actor. Tom played Clark Kent from 2001 to 2011 alongside Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, and Erica Durance as Lois Lane. Smallville is considered one of the best versions of the Superman story, and experienced a rise in popularity recently after the release of James Gunn’s Superman, starring David Corenswet.

    Looking back

Tom shared on his former co-star Michael’s podcast Inside of You that he had conflicting feelings about his time on the show. “I tend to remember more good things than bad things, whereas I think when I was going through it, I wasn’t very happy most of the time,” he said in the recent interview. The 48-year-old added that his “good moments” on set and “feeling like [he] had a responsibility to every single person” in the cast and crew helped him to continue working despite his struggles.

Tom also revealed on the podcast that it took years before he could finally be proud of his work in Smallville, despite its positive critical reception. “I’m proud of it now. Where I don’t think I was proud of it [was] when we were doing it. And I’m not sure why, because it’s hard,” he said candidly.

    Second chance

The father of two previously opened up about returning to the Superman universe and being hesitant to don his costume again for the Arrowverse’s Crisis of Infinite Earths crossover in 2024. “I got some calls, but they weren’t [about] me acting on these shows,” Tom said at Fan Expo New Orleans in 2025. “It was me playing Clark on those shows, and I really felt protective of the fact that Clark wouldn’t exist on those shows.”

He starred in Smallville for 10 seasons

“Finally, I got a [call] from someone connected to it who said, ‘Listen, please just read it. It’s one scene. Just please read it,’” he recalled. “And I read it and I was like, ‘This is good.’ It was just the one scene, and I was like, ‘Man, this is actually a good idea. This is the way to do it.’ And you know, Clark didn’t have his powers, and one of my ways into that scene was, I wanted to play Clark as if he grew into Jonathan Kent.”

Tom shared his support for a reboot

Fans have begged for a Smallville reboot for years, and the idea has taken root inside Tom and Michael’s heads as well. “We haven’t gone to Warner Bros. yet,” the Cheaper By the Dozen actor said on Inside of You. “It just doesn’t seem like our show is the type of show where that would happen. I’m smiling and saying it will probably never happen. But I love the idea!”

“It just doesn’t seem like our show is the type of show where that would happen,” Michael chimed in. The show’s original creators, Al Gough and Miles Millar, are still holding out hope for a potential reboot, against the odds.

“The problem with most projects in development in any studio and/or any network is regime change,” Al said on the TalkVille podcast. “Warner [Bros.] has obviously gone through a lot, and I think the fact that they are in the process of rebooting Superman again, kind of unfortunately, keeps our thing off the table for a bit. Everything comes around in one form or another. I just read the other day that they are rebooting Buffy for Hulu.”

    [ad_1]

“I Dream of Jeanie” star Barbara Eden wowed fans with her ageless appearance as she celebrated her 9th birthday over the weekend. The ’60s TV sitcom’s fan page posted the incredibly youthful picture on social media. “Let’s all take a moment to wish our favorite blonde, entertainment icon and Hollywood legend Barbara Eden a very VERY Happy Birthday today!” the caption wrote. “We invite you to share your birthday wishes for Ms. Eden here as she celebrates her 94th Birthday!” They also announced in a following video that Barbara would be appearing on Bill Maher’s podcast Club Random. “You’re making a 12-year-old boy very happy,” the clip shows Bill saying to his guest.

Tributes flooded in for the legendary actress including messages from Paris Hilton, Jennie Garth and former “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” co-star Caroline Rhea. “Happy birthday ageless beauty,” she wrote.

Barbara starred as a genie and slave to Larry Hagman’s character and is now the only surviving member from the show.

Barbara first got her lucky break on The Jimmy Carson Show before securing roles in I love Lucy and the Andy Griffin Show.

She was cast as Jeanie in 1965 until it was taken off the air in 1970. She has amassed millions of fans since its airing and has even written a memoir titled “Jeanie Out of the Bottle” and a children’s book “Barbara and the Djinn”.

Barbara speaks fondly of her fanbase and calls them “the best in the world”

“‘They’re the best fans in the whole world,” she said at a fan convention. “When I get up on the big stage, I speak, and then I do the Q&A, I’m sometimes surprised. They know more than I do about my work!”

At 94 years of age, the actress seems to show no signs of slowing down either.

In an interview with People, the blonde beauty shared her secret to longevity. “All through the years, I’ve noticed that many people don’t realize what a joy it is and what a gift it is to be able to work in an arena that you really love,” she said.

“So many people have to work in jobs they hate, and they have to do it just for sustenance, but aren’t we lucky when we can study for something, enjoy it and know that other people enjoy it? I think that’s a gift that life gives us, if we are willing to work for it,” she added.

She also explained to Fox News that she’s swapped cardio for weight training to keep herself fit and healthy.

“I used to work out all the time. I used to do spinning classes and then do weights with a trainer,” she said.

“When Covid hit, that ended my heavy workouts. Now I have a stationary bicycle and I lift five pounds. I use very lightweight weights, but they’re good for your bones.”

  • Is Maxie being killed off in General Hospital? Star Kirsten Storms speaks out

    [ad_1]

Moments afteGeneral Hospital fans saw Maxie Jones try Deception’s new Youth Truth serum, she stumbled on set and collapsed, leaving her family and friends in shock. We still don’t know the cause of the collapse – was it a heart condition or poison? – and as her friends, including Lulu, worry over whether Maxie will slip into a coma, the actress who plays Maxie has spoken out about her future on the ABC series.

Kirsten Storms has played Maxie for 20 years now, after joining the series in 2005 (she had one hiatus between 2011 and 2012), but is now taking a temporary leave of absence to move to Nashville with her daughter. In a video posted on Instagram in early July, Kristen revealed that ABC has replaced her with another actress for the time being, confirming Maxie is not dying, and shared that she will return later in the year.

“I’m very excited to be making Tennessee my home! I can’t wait to return to GH, once Harper and I are settled in our new town,” she captioned the post. “I plan on documenting as much of this new journey on my social media as I can. It’s always been a dream of mine to move to a place like this; it’s hard to believe it’s really happening.”

In the video, Kirsten went on to share that it had been a lifelong dream to move to the south, and she was grateful to the show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, for helping her to have the best of both worlds.

“In March, I asked Frank Valentini, our amazing executive producer. I had a conversation with him [about] my reasons for wanting to move and my desire to not leave the show,” she explained, adding: “Now, when you approach a job like this, they can always be like, ‘Forget it. We’ll let you out of the contract if you’re going to leave the state.’ GH did not do that. Which was kind of amazing.”

Kirsten has already filmed her final scenes and has already made the trip to Tennessee, but she added that it was “possible I will be back in December, maybe November”.

“I really want to thank GH, the ABC executives, the writers, for agreeing to let me take this time, and I know Frank and the producers there know my reasons, and I am so grateful that they understand and are supportive,” she concluded. Addressing rumors that she was leaving the soap, Kirsten insisted this “is just me, very long-winded explaining that I am taking a break and moving to Tennessee”.

Kirsten welcomed her daughter Harper in early January 2014 with her then-husband, Brandon Barash, who also appeared in General Hospital. They got married in June 2013, but on April 8 2016, it was revealed that they had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

  • Back to the Future star looks unrecognizable today 2 years after Michael J Fox reunion

    [ad_1]

1980s and 1990s kids will know the name and face of Biff, the bully from Back To The Futurewho asks Michael J Fox’s Marty McFly “What are you looking at, butthead?” The actor behind the dim-witted cheat, known for intimidating others, is Thomas F. Wilson and he starred in all three films as well as voicing the character in the animated series and the Universal Studios ride.

But now 66, Thomas looks world away from 1950s Biff after stepping away from Hollywood to become a successful artist.

Thomas was pictured earlier in August stepping out for lunch with a friend in Los Angeles.

His broad frame was still recognizable although his brunette short back and sides hair is now bushy white hair.

He rocked a blue tee with shorts and green and blue sneakers.

Thomas starred as Biff Tannen in Back to the Future, appearing in both time frames, as a hotheaded teenager in 1955 who bullies Marty’s father George in high school, and also in 1985, where Buff is George’s supervisor at work.

He appeared in both sequels in 1989 and 1990 as Biff, Biff’s grandson Griff Tannen and Buff’s great-grandfather Buford “Mad Dog” Tannen.

.In 2033 Thomas reunited with his co-stars including Michael, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson at Fan Expo Portland.

Found the flux capacitor. Brought us all back to 2023 just in time,” Christopher captioned a carousel of snaps of the four together, with Thomas sharing his own selfie that was captioned: “Okay, so this happened. 2023.”

After the 1980s Thomas voiced several characters in video games, and in 1999 played coach Ben Fredricks in the comedy series Freaks and Geeks for one season.

He has also voiced characters for several animated series including The Patrick Star Show, a spin off from SpongeBob SquarePants.

He has also become a prolific painter, studying drawing and painting at the Art Academy of Los Angeles, the California Art Institute, and as a student of Arthur Egeli. He enjoyed solo exhibitions at the Nickelodeon Studio World Headquarters, as well as a solo exhibition at the Disney Gallery, where he was honored as a Disney Featured Artist.

What happened to Megan Thee Stallion’s mother and grandmother?

    [ad_1]

Megan Thee Stallion is in the news after the release of her new Amazon Prime documentary Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words.

The powerful new documentary takes fans inside her rise to fame over the last few years as she was also navigating grief in her personal life. Her beloved mother died in 2019, and two weeks later her great-grandmother, who had also been a caregiver for Megan died.

Here is all we know about Megan’s relationship with the pair:

Megan – real name Megan Pete –was raised by her mom Holly in Houston, where Holly, known by her stage name Holly-Wood, was a rapper and took her daughter into the recording studio each day.

Holly encouraged Megan’s own talents, although insisted she did not pursue a career in the industry until she was 21.

“I knew I wanted to be a rapper when I was, like, 5. My mom was a rapper. I would go to the studio with her, and that definitely showed me I can do this, I wanna do this,” she told Essence in 2019.

Megan’s father was in prison during her childhood and died when she was 15.

Megan studied at Prairie View A&M University, but as her online rap battles went viral, she left to pursue her career; she later returned to school and graduated from Texas Southern University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in health administration.

In the documentary, Megan revealed that she was the one who had to make the decision to turn off her mother’s life support machine; Holly had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and was having “back-to-back seizures”.

She died at the age of 47. She was also Megan’s manager.

“They had to put her under. She was just brain dead. So I stayed up there every day. I was spending the night at the hospital. I just was praying that she could shake back from it,” the musician recalled.

“Once I realized she wasn’t coming back, I was just like, ‘Damn, I can’t keep her like this.’ Because I know she wouldn’t have wanted to stay like this. So I had to make the decision to pull the plug, and she just passed the next day.”

She announced the news on Instagram in a now-delete post which read: “The best mom in the whole world. The strongest woman on the planet. I can’t even put complete sentences together rn RIP mama.”

My mom and (late great-grandmother) filled me with self-love and determination,” she said during her Glamour Women of the Year award speech in 2021. “Because of them, I never felt unworthy of my success and my womanhood. Because of them, I’ve learned to be competitive with myself and that other women don’t need to lose for me to win.”

In 2022, during an Apple Music conversation, she revealed how her mom and great-grandmother’s passing had not gotten any easier, and that it still hadn’t clicked that she didn’t have anyone to go to for advice.

“I didn’t even have to think about too many things when my mama was with me,” Megan told Nadeska and Ebro .

“I feel like it’s just recently that it’s clicking to me. ‘Who can I ask anything to?’ Because I still don’t want to put people in my business,” she explained.

“When I’m going through something personal, I’m like, ‘I just got to pray.’ Because I don’t even know who I can ask. Who can I ask about this situation? And who do I trust?”

Strictly 2024: Who topped the leaderboard in Week 5 following controversy?

    [ad_1]

Last week’s Strictly Come Dancing was a show-stopper, with Tasha Ghouri earning the first tens of the series – three of them, in fact – and Paul Merson showcasing that he could be a dancer.

However, the episode also proved to be slightly controversial with many noticing Katya Jones moving her partner, Wynne Evans’ hand away from her waist. Viewers also noticed the dancer turning the opera singer down for a high-five, prompting plenty of comments.

The pair have since rubbished claims of a feud, with Katya saying the incidents were an “inside joke” between the pair. Wynne, on his BBC Radio Wales show said he was “heartbroken” over the response.

BBC staff, employed in the wake of allegations against Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima, have checked in with the pair and are taking no further action.

The cast of Blue Bloods were reunited on Thursday night for the annual PaleyFest in New York. The likes of Marisa Ramirez, Vanessa Ray, Tom Selleck, Len Cariou, Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan came together at The Paley Museum, where guests watched an advanced screening of one of its final episodes followed by a conversation with members of the cast and creative team.

Blue Bloods stars Marisa Ramirez, Vanessa Ray, Tom Selleck, Len Cariou, and Donnie Wahlberg at PaleyFest in New York

The event comes after Donnie said he was “all for” a Blue Bloods spin-off after the show’s cancellation. In November last year, it was announced that the drama would end with its 14th season, split into two parts and 18 episodes.

Chatting to TV Insider, the Danny Reagan actor said: “I, for me personally, would say whatever happens next, if it’s done with the spirit of Blue Bloods and done with the care that we tried to put into Blue Bloods every week, it would be something that I would look forward to watching or being a part of either way.

“I’ve heard stories of prequels, sequels, you name it. For me personally, I love the show. I’ve enjoyed working on it for 14 years and like I said, whatever comes next, as long as it has family at its core and the spirit of Blue Bloods, then I’m all for it,” he continued.

Abigail Hawk, who plays Abigail Baker, is also open to a spin-off. In an exclusive interview with HELLO!, the actress said she is “still grieving” the show but feels her character’s story is left “wide open”

Speaking about the new season, the 42-year-old said: “I think we’ve seen quite a bit of anger from her [this season.] We’ve seen her kind of writhing around, a worm on a hook: should I stay here? Am I being fulfilled? You’re not going to get much more drama from her specifically and I actually am very content with that.

“I think that there’s a lovely simplicity to her just being where she is – and it leaves it wide open for a potential spin-off down the road. That’s how I’m viewing it,” she continued.

Sharing her disappointment over the show’s ending, Abigail went on to say: “I don’t want to spin off right now, this is very fresh for me and I’m still grieving because we all wanted to continue, this is not something any of us wanted.

Abigail said she is “still grieving” the show

We felt that there was so much more we could continue telling and sharing and creating, but I do think there are certain characters that could continue to have quite an amazing and interesting life beyond the world with the Reagans, and I think Abigail Baker is one of them. She’s this woman of mystery and there’s so much that we could just uncover and pull out of her.”

The Rookie’s Nathan Fillion has fans in hysterics with behind the scenes video of season seven

    [ad_1]

The Rookie’s Nathan Fillion has posted a new video from the set of season seven. Taking to Instagram on Monday, the actor revealed that he’s been shooting scenes on a bus in LA, with his character John Nolan dressed in civilian clothes.

Known and loved for his signature sense of humour, Nathan, 53, joked around between takes. Panning the camera onto a newspaper with the headline, ‘Rookie shows great skill’,  he quipped, “Who am I to argue? #therookieabc” in the caption.

Among the comments, fans commended Nathan on his latest update. “With all the bad news on the TV and in newspapers, [this is the] best news I’ve seen in a very long time!” replied one.

The Rookie’s season 7 teaser introduces new recruits

“The Rookie is literally the best show out there,” noted a second. Meanwhile, a third raved: “Skill, charm, and unofficial King of the Dad Jokes, @nathanfillion you are the whole package! Can’t wait for Season 7 to begin, let’s go Rookie!”

Set to return in January 2025, The Rookie will return with 18 episodes airing weekly. A teaser trailer has already been released, introducing fans to newcomers Seth and Miles,  played by Patrick Keleher and Deric Augustine.

    © Instagran
Patrick Keleher and Deric Augustine will appear as rookies Seth and Miles

Seth “seems like the ideal police officer, but the job requires quick, decisive action — something that doesn’t come naturally to Seth.” As for Miles, the character is billed as “one of the newest rookies at the LAPD. As a Texas transfer, Miles is a ‘rookie’ despite being a two-year veteran of the force.”

A synopsis for The Rookie’s seventh instalment is yet to drop, but we do know that one or more of season six’s villains will return following Oscar’s prison break, Jason’s return to LA and Monica’s survival.

In May, Showrunner Alexi Hawley told TV Line: “They will definitely resurface at different times. As you know, Jenna [Dewan]’s about to have a baby in real life, so we probably won’t see [Bailey] for the first few episodes because of that.

“As a result, we aren’t sure when we’ll see Jason. But yes, I think we’re looking at how we can spread stuff out so we’re not just all diving into all of it at the beginning.”

Eric Winter – aka Tim Bradford – has also teased what’s to come. Speaking exclusively to HELLO!, the fan favourite revealed that Tim and his former flame, Lucy Chen, will “continue to learn how to navigate their feelings” amid their breakup.

“I think we’re going to see Tim and Lucy continue to learn how to navigate their feelings while being on the job,” he explained.

The duo will be forced to “navigate their feelings” for each other following their breakup

“We’ll see them pick up in a place where they’ve shown that they care about each other and now they have to figure out, ‘Can we give each other space to do our job and allow our feelings to stay in a safe place but not rush anything and hope one person doesn’t go astray?’”

“I do know we’re gonna see Tim back in the field training rookies, which I think is what people always loved about Tim,” Eric continued.  “I think people liked Metro Tim, but I think people do like training officer Tim, so we’ll get him back out in the field.”

TV Anchors who could be next to face the chop after Hoda Kotb’s surprising departure

    [ad_1]

Hoda Kotb’s shock announcement that she will be leaving Today after 17 years on the morning show has shone a light on the future of many of our favorite TV anchors, who are facing a critical time in their careers.

As TV networks tighten their belts thanks to economic issues and low ratings, high-profile stars will see changes not only to their contracts but to their shows on the whole.

Hoda wrote in a letter to staff on the show that she knew she was “making the right decision” to step away from Today, albeit a “painful one”.

Hoda Kotb’s decision to leave Today has her co-hosts in tears

“They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you, and it’s time for me to leave the show,” she said in the letter.

She continued, “My broadcast career has been beyond meaningful; a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie. I will miss you all desperately, but I’m ready and excited.”

She will leave the show early next year, but co-host Savannah Guthrie remains as her contract will last another year.

Another anchor with an uncertain future is MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who reportedly makes a whopping $30 million a year, although her contract is under review.

Rachel is a major drawcard for the network and has hosted her own show since 2008, but her $600,000 per episode salary may be cut next year.

“We have had a tremendous shake-up in how TV is delivered and received, and the business is going through a major struggle trying to retain and grow revenues,” Joe Peyronnin, a former television news executive, told the Wall Street Journal.

Late-night talk shows are being slashed from five to four nights a week as the networks scramble to keep up with the changing television landscape.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon will no longer produce an episode each Friday.

While Jimmy Fallon is safe until 2028, with his contract extended until then, and Stephen signed on until 2026, Jimmy Kimmel told the LA Times that he may not re-sign after his contract ends in 2025.

According to Forbes, this speaks to a broader trend of cable and broadcast TV versus streaming; only 57% of households now subscribe to cable television, and only three networks averaged over one million viewers during prime time compared to 19 in 2013. Only 30% of US adults use an antenna for broadcast TV.

The beloved Good Morning America could see hosts George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts’s contracts in limbo after they end next year; they both currently make $25 million, but after Disney, who owns the ABC network, told the show to cut costs by $19 million, their future hangs in the balance.

Over on CBS, Evening News star Norah O’Donnell was dealt a 50% pay cut by the network after her ratings had dropped by 25%, and she faces the chopping board after Paramount also deals with wide-scale layoffs to cut costs.

Clearly, the future of broadcast and cable TV is up in the air, and with it are the slew of beloved anchors sitting at the helm of some of television’s biggest shows.

T.J. Holmes details unfortunate update following painful injury

    [ad_1]

T.J. Holmes has been in a lot of pain of late following an unfortunate running injury that he’s hoping to heal in time for an important event coming up.

The former GMA anchor took to Instagram at the start of the week to share a photo of his foot resting in a bucket of water, and explained that he was suffering from an achilles tendon, which causes pain in the heel when walking and running.

Not only is T.J. in pain as a result, but this has impacted his running abilities during his training for the Chicago Marathon, which is taking place on Sunday September 13.

He wrote in the caption: “Still trying to get this achilles in time for the Chicago marathon – on SUNDAY!”

T.J. and his girlfriend Amy Robach are both huge fans of running and have taken part in a number of marathons together, including the New York Marathon, as well as local runs in New York City and further afield.

They spend a lot of time training together and often share updates on their progress and running routes on social media.

At the start of the year, Amy opened up about their goals for the year on their podcast, Amy & T.J., where she said that running a marathon was among them.

She explained: “I mean definitely a marathon is on mine for sure. Probably New York. We were talking, we were throwing around Chicago yesterday as a possibility and one of these days, I do wanna do London, but I’ve missed the boat for this year because it’s in April. That’s on my vision board.”

In fact, Amy and T.J. fell for each other during their training for the New York Marathon back in 2022. Their romance was outed by the press who posted photos of them together, which resulted in them losing their jobs on GMA.

After keeping low profiles for most of 2023, they returned to the public eye last fall with the announcement of a new podcast, Amy & T.J., where they had the chance to tell their side of their story in their own words.

They chose to release the first episode of their podcast on December 5, which was the one year anniversary of their dismissal from ABC.

They have since explained that they had both separated from their respective partners before getting together. In fact, Amy’s ex-husband Andrew Shue, and T.J.’s ex-wife Marilee Fiebig, are now a couple too.

The pair performed their routines for a second time, with Toyah and Neil serving up an energising Samba to ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ from Little Mermaid, and Paul and Karen performing a Cha Cha to ‘The Magnificent Seven’ from The Magnificent Seven.

After the celebs had performed, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke were unanimous in their decision, opting to save Paul and Karen. Head judge Shirley Ballas later agreed that she would also have saved the sports pundit.

Toyah described her time on the show as ‘the best two months’ of her life

When asked by Tess about their time on the show, Toyah, 66, said: “It’s been the best two months of my life, it has been fantastic. I have enjoyed every second. And you [Neil] have been phenomenal, thank you so much.”

Neil, meanwhile, added: “She has made me laugh so much, I have never seen someone work so hard – I’m the one asking for breaks every now and then!

The pair were in the dance off with Paul Merson and Karen Hauer

“She just kept going, she wanted to learn so much. If you saw her in the hallway she’s been practising. Everyone’s been telling me have you seen Toyah practising, she’s brilliant and she’s what Strictly is all about, and I’ve loved every moment.”

Elsewhere, Toyah thanked Neil for his continued support, adding: “You’re a great teacher, you’re a great friend as well. You’ve just given me a new zest for life, that’s the most valuable thing I’ve come away with.”

Strictly’s hotly-anticipated Movie Week saw Love Island star Tasha Ghouri top the leader-board with an impressive 34 out of 40 for her rumba with Aljaz Skorjanec. Dressed in head-to-toe pink, the duo performed their routine to Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’ from Greta Gerwig’s film, Barbie.

Meanwhile, Miranda actress Sarah Hadland sparked an emotional fan reaction with her touching tribute to Dame Maggie Smith who passed away last week.

Cheryl Burke calls on Dancing With The Stars couple Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko to ‘stop the flirt’

    [ad_1]

Dancing with the Stars season 33 premiere saw 12 celebrity hopefuls take to the dancefloor, but it was clear that Sports Illustrated model Brooks Nader was particularly nervous, crossing her arms defensively while listening to judges feedback.

Former professional Chertyl Burke, however, has one piece of advice for Brooks to help her relax – “be goofy”.

“Everyone’s nervous, even the athletes who have competed at the Olympics, they were nervous, – it’s really difficult to walk into a show that’s been going on for 33 seasons, but I also think they had a really short period as far as training goes,” Cheryl told HELLO!

    © Eric McCandless

In past seasons the hopefuls often had up to six weeks of training but this year many of them did not begin rehearsals until after the Good Morning America announcement two weeks prior.

Brooks has been paired with Gleb Savchenko.

On her iHeartRadio podcast, “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans,” Cheryl had previously clocked Brooks nerves during her appearance on GMA, but she tells HELLO!: “If you’ve got a gorgeous couple competing, you better be goofy and balance it out. They’re almost too beautiful.”

“I think they both are very attracted to one another. I do think in the beginning it’s like any relationship, it is the honeymoon phase and I already know that that will die sooner rather than later in general as it does,”  Cheryl continued, adding: “And I hope that they’re able to get to work and, and stop the flirting.”

The new season of Dancing With The Stars will be “spicy and feisty,” judge Bruno Tonioli previously told HELLO! ahead of the season premiere.

“It is a very, very good cast  – very spicy, very feisty. But it’s a show that I always feel  is the first time – you can never approach it with what has happened before because they’re all so different,” he shared.

The celebrities for season 33 joining Brooks are Reginald VelJohnson, Eric Roberts, Anna Delvey, Chandler Kinney, Ilona Maher, Joey Graziadei, Danny Amendola, Dwight Howard, Jenn Tran, Phaedra Parks, and  Stephen Nedoroscik.

There was be no elimination during week one but the judge’s points and viewers’ ratings will go towards the second week scores.

Channel 5‘s new thriller, The Wives, made its debut on Monday night – and viewers have given their verdict on the series.

The mystery drama, which stars Tamzin Outhwaite, Angela Griffin and Jo Joyner, follows the unravelling of one family on a summer holiday that changes their lives.

WATCH: Channel 5’s new drama, The Wives

While some viewers were left a little “confused” by the plot, others were glued to their screens and praised the compelling drama.

Taking to social media, one person penned: “Wow, The Wives – Cracking stuff. Absolutely everybody catch it if you can. Next episode tomorrow!”

Tamzin Outhwaite, Angela Griffin and Jo Joyner star in The Wives

A second viewer remarked: “Loving #TheWives! Got a feeling that NOTHING is what it seems and I can’t wait to watch it unravel!” while a third added: “Three strong women who are intelligent and want to have fun. What’s not to like? Enjoyed it and looking forward to it becoming even more mysterious.”

For those yet to catch up on the series, it follows three sisters-in-law and close friends who set out to unravel a family mystery.

The synopsis continues: “One year ago, Annabelle Morgan disappeared while on holiday in Malta, leaving behind her husband Charlie and daughter, Sky. The police concluded that she must have fallen to her death from the perilous cliff edge where they found her phone.

    Viewers praised the gripping series

“This summer the Morgan clan are returning to Malta where they all have holiday apartments.  The family want to move on with their lives but when Charlie arrives with a new young girlfriend, questions resurface about what happened to Annabelle.  The wives: Beth, Natasha and Sylvie begin to suspect that Annabelle’s death wasn’t an accident and undertake their own investigation.”

Angela, who plays Natasha, revealed that the thriller element of the show is what drew her to the part. “I love the thriller element and the mystery of Annabelle’s disappearance, but the massive draw were these women who are finding themselves in their late 40s and early 50s,” the actress told Channel 5.

“I’m surrounded by women of this age. The whole project is about how women change, evolve and redefine themselves as seismic events take place in their life, such as children leaving home. You have to ask yourself who you are now you don’t have oestrogen. You’re constantly having to work out who you are in relation to everybody else.”

The Wives continues on Tuesday 17 September on Channel 5 at 9pm. Episode one is available on My5.

Up, up and away! Robin Roberts waved goodbye to her GMA co-hosts on Thursday as she embarked on a role far from New York.

Taking to Instagram, the adored anchor shared a video of herself, revealing she was departing the Big Apple and headed to Los Angeles.

In the clip, Robin confessed she was “excited” by the change of scenery and had her glam squad in tow.

Robin’s assignment comes hot on the heels of her one–year anniversary with her wife, Amber Laign.

The couple tied the knot on September 8, 2023, after many years together, and it appears to have been a year of married bliss.

They marked the occasion with an intimate celebration, rather than a grand event.

Robin gave a sneak peek at their quiet dinner at home which featured a table set for two nestled on a patio adorned with flickering candles and floral arrangements.

The TV host could be heard saying: “Since we never actually got to eat at our wedding, a lovely gift from a longtime friend, Pam [Guglielmino], and the chef from our wedding night. Wow!”

Fortunately, she didn’t and the pair have been each other’s rocks ever since.

Robin was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and five years later she was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), and underwent a bone marrow transplant.

George Stephanopoulos replaced on GMA as co-stars are joined by new anchor

    [ad_1]

George Stephanopoulos was noticeably absent from Thursday’s Good Morning America, with Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan sitting alongside another familiar face.

The best-selling author’s absence went unexplained at the start of the show, but instead, Linsey Davis keeping his seat warm.

While George hasn’t shared any details of his whereabouts on social media, it’s likely that he’s taken some time off to spend with his family, ahead of his daughters’ return to college for the fall term.

The doting dad shares Elliott, 21, and Harper, 19, with wife Ali Wentworth, and Ali recently had a message exchange with George’s co-star Lara Spencer concerning a Nashville meetup – where Harper studies.

That’s because Lara’s daughter Katharine attends the same college, Vanderbilt University, as Harper, and they made reference to seeing each other there soon.

George Stephanopoulos was missing from Thursday’s GMA

The Go Ask Ali podcast star had shared a photo of herself “foraging” on Instagram, resulting in Lara writing: “We love to dig for treasure – in the mud, thru flea markets. You name it…….we dig it. Can’t wait to see you in Nash.”

The family are incredibly close and have enjoyed spending quality time together during the summer months. Along with an apartment in New York City, they also have a beautiful house in the Hamptons, where they have spent the majority of the weeks.

    [ad_1]

Irvine Welsh’s Crime returned to ITV with its second season on Wednesday night – and viewers have taken to social media with their verdict.

The series, based on Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh’s novel of the same name, stars Dougray Scott as troubled detective Ray Lennox, who returns to his job at Edinburgh Serious Crimes after suffering a breakdown triggered by bringing down child killer, Mr Confectioner.

WATCH: Dougray Scott stars in Irvine Welsh’s Crime

Viewers were hooked by the series debut, with one person praising the show on social media. “Delighted that #Crime series 2 is on TV again by @IrvineWelsh. Top series,” they penned, while another added: “Probably the best thing I’ve watched in years.”

Applauding Dougray’s performance in the show, another fan penned: “Dougray Scott is on fire again. #Crime series 2 starts with a bang,” while a fourth remarked: “Irvine Welsh Crime is brilliant. Excellent acting by Dougray Scott too.”

The second season opens with DI Lennox back at work after bringing Mr Confectioner to justice. But a lot has changed since he’s been away, with Amanda Drummond having been promoted and two new faces in the team in the form of devious Tommy Stark and failed actor Norrie Erskine.

The synopsis continues: “When one of Lennox’s former colleagues is attacked, Lennox and Drummond quickly realise that all is not as it seems as they become embroiled in a case about vengeance, identity and social justice. The attack is linked to a gruesome attempted murder on a high-ranking establishment figure at a posh hotel which has been hushed up from the police.

    Fans praised the opening episode

“As Lennox investigates via Edinburgh’s saunas, crack dens and poshest hotels, he finds doors slammed in his face; there is an Establishment cover up at play. It’s not until the killer targets one of Lennox’s own team that the pieces start to fall into place. Tracing the motivation back to an unsavoury incident 30 years ago, Lennox begins to realise that there is more to this case than meets the eye and the killer he has been chasing may not be the driving force behind these murders after all.”

Dougray stars in the drama alongside Joanna Vanderham as DS Amanda Drummond, Ken Stott as CS Bob Toal, John Simm as Gareth Horsborough and Derek Riddell as Richie Gulliver.

Dougray’s son Gabriel, 19, also appears in the show as Fraser. On working with his son, Dougray told ITV: “It’s really interesting watching him work and he won that role. He went up against a lot of other actors and he won it. He’s at the beginning of his career but he’s a sensitive actor with a great sense of vulnerability that he brought to the character of Fraser.”

Sam Smith rocked the Royal Albert Hall stage for their much-awaited BBC Proms gig.

While we all knew that the BBC Concert Orchestra would be supporting Sam’s stellar headlining performance on July 2nd, there was one glittering appearance that no one was expecting.

The British star dazzled in the stunning Topaz ‘Heart of the Ocean’ necklace by Asprey. The showstopper features a 40-carat heart-shaped blue topaz pendant, surrounded by 23 carats of round brilliant diamonds, on an 18-carat white gold chain.

This iconic necklace pays tribute to the original Asprey & Garrard ‘Heart of the Ocean’, commissioned by 20th Century Fox for James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster, Titanic. For the movie, it was crafted with gold settings and coloured glass instead of diamonds. (In 1990 Asprey and Garrard merged to form one company and then in 2002 the brands split, in case you were wondering.)

Sam Smith sparked some buzz about whether their act would be appropriate for Proms, given their flair for bold outfits and risqué performances. The 32-year-old hitmaker silenced the sceptics by performing in a custom-made Vivienne Westwood gown designed by Andreas Kronthaler.

The jaw-dropping red dress featured an asymmetric neckline, a billowing skirt, and matching red gloves. Addressing the controversy with a sartorial wink, Sam told the audience, “Don’t worry, I’m not going to get my bum out. The clothes are staying on. This is an appropriate show. Even I know there’s a time and a place.”

Sam wowed the crowd with a setlist of their biggest hits, including Unholy, Lay Me Down, Latch, and Writing’s On The Wall.

  • Strictly star Shirley Ballas addresses ‘super-strict’ training amid Giovanni Pernice investigation

Strictly star Shirley Ballas addresses ‘super-strict’ training amid Giovanni Pernice investigation

Shirley Ballas continues to show her support for Giovanni Pernice. Speaking with press on Saturday, the Strictly judge was quizzed about her co-star, amid the BBC’s ongoing investigation into his teaching style.

“I’ve known Giovanni for 10 years, and he’s a good friend of mine. But I’m not involved on any side of that [the investigation],” she said. “I think before I speak, and I stay in my lane, which is ballroom dancing. I think everybody goes into Strictly with the best will in the world to entertain the country.”

Noting that in the dancing industry “everybody is very competitive,” Shirley acknowledged that it can be difficult to navigate training as a professional.

“You don’t want to kill their enthusiasm or the thought that they can be the Glitterball champion. So, I think sometimes, words can be cruel and people deliver them in not a great way. I learned the difference.

Shirley noted that the dance industry can be ‘very competitive’

“I can be super-strict when somebody is trying to win the gold medal, then I can still be quite strict but in a positive way on Strictly so they will learn something. That’s always ongoing for me. I’m always searching for the best way I can bring great constructive criticism.”

After working with Giovanni for years, Shirley has come to his defence in recent months, following reports of a feud between the star and his former dance partner, Amanda Abbington.

In January, Shirley was asked about Giovanni’s approach to teaching while appearing on Lorraine. “I’ve known Giovanni for many years and he is an absolutely splendid teacher,” she replied.

Shirley has continued to defend Giovanni in recent months

“My only ever experience with him is he is an absolute gentlemen. He gives 100%. Strictly and shows like that, they are tough shows so you know when you sign up for that kind of thing. It’s quite difficult to do the show.”

Amanda was partnered with Giovanni in the most recent series of Strictly, but abruptly quit after a few weeks citing “personal reasons” that left her “unable to continue”. She has subsequently opened up about her time on the show, revealing that she had been diagnosed with PTSD after Strictly.

As a result, the BBC has launched an investigation. It has also been confirmed that Giovanni will not be joining the Strictly line-up for 2024, and is instead performing in his namesake tour, Giovanni Pernice – The Last Dance.

While the star has been keeping a low profile, on June 16 he penned a statement on Instagram, insisting that “the latest accusations are simply false” and that he is “cooperating” with the investigation.

“I have stayed silent, but I am looking forward to the conclusion of the investigation and ultimately clearing my name and establishing the truth,” he continued. “I am so happy to be back on tour. Thank you all for your continued support – your messages and love mean so very much to me.”
