American Airlines to  Partner with TSA for Biometric Screening

American Airlines has revealed that AAdvantage members will soon enjoy a streamlined process at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) airport security checkpoints through TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID.

In the months ahead, eligible members who choose to enroll will be able to move through security in select airports with ease as part of the airline’s partnership with TSA. After an identity match compares a customer’s image to their existing passport photo, the customer will be able to move through the security checkpoint hands-free.

“We want to give our customers an easy experience while they move through every point of their travel journey, and the airport is a big part of that,” said American’s Vice President of Customer Experience Kim Cisek. “Introducing this option will help customers move more seamlessly from the airport lobby through TSA security to enjoy the next step in their travel.”

Before travel, AAdvantage® members will be prompted to opt in by providing the following to confirm their eligibility:

    • AAdvantage number
    • Valid U.S. passport information
    • Known Traveler Number (KTN)

Members will only have to renew enrollment once per year and can opt out at any time. Eligible locations and launch date have not been revealed yet. AAdvantage members will receive more information about that in the future.

  • Fidelity 2% Card Adds $100 TSA PreCheck or Global Entry Credit (Plus Rental Car Insurance) – Doctor Of Credit

Fidelity 2% Card Adds $100 TSA PreCheck or Global Entry Credit (Plus Rental Car Insurance) – Doctor Of Credit

Some people got an email from Fidelity, myself included, about new benefits on the Fidelity 2% card. I assume everyone will get this email as it goes it in batches:

    1. Receive up to 10,000 Reward Points every four years when you apply for either Global Entry® or TSA PreCheck®. That’s worth up to $100 when deposited into an eligible Fidelity® account, once every four years. Be sure to pay the application fee using your card to be eligible. Learn more about this benefit and review the terms at Fidelity.com/AirportBenefits
      • My thoughts: cool benefit on a solid no-fee card. There are many cards with this benefit, but not too many no-fee cards in that list. I did TSA PreCheck at the same time as my brother and I was able to cover the fee for him since I have multiple cards with the benefit.
    2. Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver at no extra cost. Be sure to review complete benefit terms at Fidelity.com/AutoRentalCoverage.
      • My thoughts: I wasn’t aware that the card didn’t already have this benefit, but if it’s new that’s a nice addition. FYI – coverage is secondary behind your regular auto insurance (if you have that).
    3. No foreign transaction fees for international purchases.

TSA PreCheck Adds Four More Airlines

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today the expansion of its TSA PreCheck program with four more airlines. That includes Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand, Ethiopian Airlines and Saudia. Nearly 100 airlines now participate in the program.

TSA PreCheck is an expedited screening program enabling low-risk travelers to enjoy a secure and expedited screening experience at more than 200 airports in the United States, and the Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, Bahamas. TSA PreCheck passengers travel with ease and may keep their shoes, belts and light jackets on and are not required to remove laptops, 3-1-1 liquids and food items from their carry-on bags. About 99% of TSA PreCheck passengers wait less than 10 minutes in dedicated lanes at airport checkpoints nationwide.

Enrolling in TSA PreCheck is easy. Visit tsa.gov/precheck and pick one of the enrollment providers, Telos or IDEMIA, complete the online application in five minutes and schedule your 10 minute in-person appointment with your chosen provider to complete the enrollment.

TSA PreCheck is available for eligible passengers when departing from a U.S. airport or when connecting on domestic flights, after returning to the United States. Travelers who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and U.S. lawful permanent residents can apply for TSA PreCheck and can pick any enrollment provider based on cost, locations, and additional benefits.

TSA PreCheck now costs $78 for five years. Global Entry, which simplifies the customs process when returning from outside the U.S., also includes TSA PreCheck benefits, and costs $100 for five years. You can get either of these Trusted Traveler Programs for free if you have an eligible credit card.

TSA PreCheck® Program Adds Eight New Airlines

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today the expansion of its TSA PreCheck program with eight new airlines. That includes Air Premia, Air Tahiti Nui, Air Transat, Bahamasair, BermudAir, Iberia, La Compagnie and New Pacific Airlines.

TSA PreCheck is an expedited screening program enabling low-risk travelers to enjoy a secure and expedited screening experience at more than 200 airports in the United States, and the Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, Bahamas. Travelers who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and U.S. lawful permanent residents can apply for TSA PreCheck and can pick any enrollment provider based on cost, locations, and additional benefits.

In May, the agency announced that teenagers aged 13-17 may now accompany TSA PreCheck enrolled parents or guardians through TSA PreCheck screening when traveling on the same reservation and when the TSA PreCheck indicator appears on the teen’s boarding pass. Children 12 and under may accompany an enrolled parent or guardian in the TSA PreCheck lanes without restriction.

Once approved, travelers receive a unique “Known Traveler Number” (KTN) that is added to an airline reservation, and makes them eligible to use TSA PreCheck lanes at security checkpoints nationwide when traveling on any of the participating airlines. It usually takes about five days after approval to receive a KTN. So don’t do this at the last minutes.

Enrolled airline passengers should look for the TSA Pre✓® indicator (such as TSAPRECHK, TSA PRE, or TSA Pre✓®) on their boarding pass to know if they are eligible for TSA PreCheck screening before their flight.

TSA PreCheck now costs $78 for five years. Global Entry, which simplifies the customs process when returning from outside the U.S., also includes TSA PreCheck benefits, and costs $100 for five years.
