Legendary Canadian singer Céline Dion has rescheduled several European tour dates due to a recent diagnosis of a rare neurological disorder called stiff-person syndrome.
In two videos posted Thursday to Dion’s social media accounts (both in English and French), she claimed the debilitating disease does not allow her “to sing the way I’m used to.”
Stiff-person syndrome is an incurable disorder that causes progressive muscle rigidity and spasms. Those diagnosed with the disorder can be disabled, bedridden or unable to care for themselves, according to The Stiff Person Syndrome Research Foundation.
For Dion, 54, she said the muscle spasms she suffers “affect every aspect of my daily life.”

She continued, tearfully telling fans that the disorder is “sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”
“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through,” she said.
Dion was intensely regretful that her diagnosis will make her unable to launch the European leg of her tour in February. Her 2023 tour has been rescheduled for the following year. Eight of Dion’s 2023 performances, from May 31 to July 17, have been cancelled altogether.
Still, the My Heart Will Go On singer assured fans that she, her doctors and her family are doing everything in their power to help her condition improve.
François Legault, the premier of Québec, sympathized with Dion’s diagnosis on Thursday morning. While on his way to attend question period in the National Assembly, Legault told reporters he hopes Dion “gets well as soon as possible.”

“We’re so proud of her. And she’s coming from Charlemagne in my riding. So, it’s important,” Legault said.
At Queen’s Park in Toronto, a children’s choir gave a tribute to Dion and performed My Heart Will Go On.

Dion said she is working with a sports medicine therapist every day to increase her strength and get her into performance shape.
“I miss you so much. I miss seeing all of you,” Dion told her fans. “I always give 100 per cent when I do my shows, but my condition is not allowing me to give you that right now.”
Earlier this year, Dion postponed her world tour due to “severe and persistent muscle spasms.”

Information about Dion’s tour and rescheduling can be found on her website.
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences reported there are fewer than 5,000 known cases of stiff-person syndrome in the U.S. The symptoms of the disorder can begin at any point in a patient’s life, though it is most commonly noticed in adulthood.
From jealousy to health struggles, Ashton Kutcher and his twin brother Michael bore it all during their first-ever joint interview.
In an episode of Paramount Plus’ The Checkup with Dr. David Agus, the Kutcher twins, both 44, held hands as they discussed several emotional moments in their past.
Ashton spoke candidly about his relationship with Michael, who has cerebral palsy. He told Agus — who CNN says is Ashton’s doctor — about a moment when Michael nearly died as a 13-year-old after contracting viral myocarditis. The infection caused Michael’s heart to become enlarged and fail.
Ashton was misty-eyed as he told Agus that Michael flatlined while Ashton was visiting him in the hospital.

The That ’70s Show actor said at the time he considered jumping off a balcony and ending his own life, since his heart would have been a match for Michael’s life-saving transplant. (Michael was eventually paired with a donor within 24 hours of his heart failure.)
Two years later, when Michael underwent open heart surgery, doctors discovered a blood clot. Amid his brother’s health scare, Ashton’s own career was just starting to take off, something he said caused him to feel guilt.
“For my brother … to be born with cerebral palsy, then have a heart transplant, then have this random blood clot, these things that you’re just like, ‘Who has to go through that?’” Ashton said during the interview.
Ashton revealed that a heartfelt moment with his brother eventually eliminated any guilt he felt.
“He looked at me and he said, ‘Every time you feel sorry for me, you make me less,’” Ashton said.
“He said, ‘This is the only life I’ve ever known, so stop feeling sorry for the only thing I have.’ And that then created an entire shift back to where I think we are today, which is straight-up equals again,” he continued.
Michael added that he and Ashton had drifted apart for a period of time because of Michael’s “jealousy.”

“There was a moment when I viewed him as receiving more attention than I was and that kind of drove me down to a place where I was jealous,” Michael said. “Here we are one and two for so many years and then he goes up the mountain to do immense things and become a household name and it really affected me in terms of my own self-worth.”
After an open and honest conversation with his brother, Ashton said they “had this moment of reckoning and realization where we decided to tear down the walls that we had built.”

“The world may view him differently, but I know him. He’s still my brother and he hasn’t changed, and he never will change. Once I took all of the fame and everything out of it, I was able to come back to him,” Michael said.

During the episode of The Checkup, Ashton also opened up about his vasculitis diagnosis, an autoimmune disorder.
Earlier this year, Ashton said he was “lucky to be alive” after the disease impaired his vision, hearing and balance.
Three years ago, Ashton Kutcher woke up and suddenly couldn’t see or hear clearly. Now, in a new @paramountplus series, he’s opening up about his vasculitis scare with his doctor @DavidAgus: “[It] knocked out my hearing, which threw off my equilibrium… and I couldn’t walk.” pic.twitter.com/WgjBjwHDDw
“I woke up one day and was having vision issues, could hardly see,” he said. He claimed the disease also “knocked out my hearing, which threw off my equilibrium, my balance and I couldn’t walk.”
After a year, Kutcher was able to recover from vasculitis.
Ashton said his wife Mila Kunis was a massive help during his recovery.
“I will say, your wife was amazing,” Agus said. “Just curled up there by your side. It was a beautiful thing to watch.”
Ashton’s episode of The Checkup With Dr. David Agus premiered on Dec. 6.
Agus, who is a cancer specialist and CBS medical contributor, hosts vulnerable conversations about health with various celebrities on the show. Oprah Winfrey, Howie Mandel, Amy Schumer and Jane Fonda will be among the guests featured.
It has nothing to do with what the royal couple is planning to reveal during the much-anticipated docuseries, however. Instead, Netflix, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are being accused of using “misleading” stock footage and photos in the two teasers.
The trailers each paint a picture of the relentless intrusion the prince and his wife faced at the hands of the press after their 2018 wedding — a factor they say led to their decision to step back as working members of the Royal Family and move to California to pursue a more private life on their own terms.
Public has mixed reactions to ‘Harry and Meghan’ Netflix series
According to the BBC, at least three of the images used in the trailers are believed to have been taken from events that had nothing to do with Harry and Meghan. As well, there have been accusations of deceptive cropping of at least one photo and using a video to create an illusion of press intrusion when, if fact, the photographer who captured the footage was invited and known to the couple.
Neither the couple nor Netflix has publicly addressed or commented on these recent accusations.
U.K. newspaper The Sun first reported that an image used in the first trailer, showing a large group of photographers with long camera lenses presumably shooting a royal event, was actually from the movie premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two in 2011, long before Harry and Meghan met.

Harry delivers a line in the trailer, right before the image flashes on screen: “I had to do everything I could to protect my family,” he says, giving the impression that it was a group of photographers taking photos in a royal context.
A photographer from The Sun, Doug Seeburg, is seen in the photo and told the publication that no royals were at the event that day.
“In the Netflix trailer, it’s implied the photographers, including me, were trying to get a shot of the royal couple — but that’s nonsense,” Seeburg said.
Robert Jobson tweeted an image featured in the trailer, which shows a photographer taking a picture of the Duke and Duchess from above.
This photograph used by @Netflix and Harry and Meghan to suggest intrusion by the press is a complete travesty. It was taken from a accredited pool at Archbishop Tutu’s residence in Cape Town. “This photograph used by @Netflix and Harry and Meghan to suggest intrusion by the press is a complete travesty,” he wrote. “H & M agreed the position. I was there.”
Buzzfeed also points out that a short clip of footage meant to highlight the couple’s contentious relationship with the media is actually stock video of Donald Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, getting into a vehicle to be transported to prison on May 6, 2019.
As well, the outlet reports that another clip of footage from the second trailer, meant to illustrate paparazzi harassing the couple, was actually taken when former model Katie Price attended a U.K. court to be sentenced for drunk driving in 2021. Over the footage, Harry can be heard in voiceover saying, “I was terrified. I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”
Twitter user @Urban_Pictures also pointed out that the Price footage had been flipped horizontally.
Following accusations of fake footage in the first trailer, the NEW trailer for the @netflix Harry & Meghan documentary appears to use footage of @KatiePrice leaving Crawley Magistrates Court to suggest a mob of paparazzi hounding H&M. #HarryandMeghanonNetflixpic.twitter.com/NFKCedWnK5
Finally, a photo that appears to show Harry and Markle relegated to the fringes of the Royal Family has been cropped to support Harry’s accusation of a “hierarchy of the family,” the Telegraph reports.
The cropped photo, taken during the Trooping the Colour in 2019 where much of the extended Royal Family appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the RAF flypast, shows Prince William and Kate Middleton in the centre of the photograph.
However, the newspaper noticed, the arrangement of the family that day is not as it appears in the Netflix trailer. Rather, Queen Elizabeth II at was the centre of the original photograph and Harry and Meghan were actually standing closer to her than William and Kate.
The Netflix crop appears above and the actual photograph as it was taken appears below.

In the aftermath of all of these accusations, it’s certain that royal watchers will be closely dissecting and scrutinizing all of the footage included in the Harry & Meghan documentary when it begins streaming on Netflix Dec. 8.
“It turns your stomach. Why do that? Are they trying to pretend crowds and crowds of people are coming to watch them? What are they saying?” she told the publication, adding it’s very likely Harry and Meghan were given a chance to review the trailers before they were released.

“They complain about the press manipulating things and not saying the truth and here they are doing exactly that. It’s very foolish,” Levin added. “They are risking their whole reputation. They must assume that we are all fools and we would not dare check on the pictures they have got because they have put them there.”
Royal expert Ingrid Seward defended the couple, saying they may not have realized the images were from events that did not include them. She did concede that using misleading imagery “weakens Harry’s comment about protecting his family.”

Netflix promises “the series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.”
“With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the Royal Family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other.”

There’s no going back for Kanye West now, observers wrote on Twitter in the wake of his damning interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on Thursday afternoon.
The controversial rapper and 2024 U.S. presidential candidate is facing widespread rebuke for espousing antisemitic hate on Jones’ Infowars podcast and then later doubling down by tweeting an image of a swastika within the Star of David.
The latter stunt led to the rapper, who has legally changed his name to Ye, being suspended from Twitter, though leading voices in the Jewish Canadian community say the damage has already been done. Before being removed from the platform, Ye had more than 30 million Twitter followers, more than twice the estimated population of Jewish people in the world.
Bernie Farber, chair of the Anti-Hate Network and former CEO of the Canadian Jewish Congress, warned that Ye is dangerously normalizing antisemitism and that his words may lead to an uptick in violence against the Jewish community in Canada.
“Antisemitism has reached heights that are so dangerous that in my almost 40 years now of dealing with antisemitism, I have never seen anything quite like it,” Farber told Global News.
“I believe that we are going to see, as a result of Kanye West’s hateful actions, we will see violent words turned into violent actions.”

Even before Ye appeared on Jones’ Infowars podcast and lit up the Internet by explicitly praising Hitler, he was already in hot water over numerous antisemitic comments which led to a prior suspension from Twitter and Instagram.

The rapper and fashion designer claimed that he even lost US$2 billion in one day after brands Gap, Adidas and Balenciaga cut partnership ties with him when he spread antisemitic tropes and hate online and to the press. In the midst of the backlash, Ye announced he was running for U.S. president in 2024 with known white supremacist Nick Fuentes and alt-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos on his campaign team.
These events set the stage for Ye’s fateful interview with Jones on Thursday afternoon where he infamously said, “I like Hitler.”
Even Jones, who currently owes hundreds of millions of dollars to the parents of Sandy Hook victims after spreading a conspiracy theory that the mass shooting was a hoax, seemed taken aback by Ye’s comments.
“You’re not a Nazi, you don’t deserve to be called that and demonized,” Jones said, offering the rapper some cover.
“Well,” Ye replied, “I see good things about Hitler, also.” (The rapper, wearing a full black face mask, was also joined by Fuentes on the program.)

“The Jewish media has made us feel like the Nazis and Hitler have never offered anything of value to the world,” Ye said at one point during the interview. “But [the Nazis] did good things too. We gotta stop dissing the Nazis all the time.”

Clips of Ye’s statements immediately went viral on social media platforms, boosting his hateful comments to even more eyes and ears, though the majority of those reacting denounced the rapper.
Later on Thursday, Ye went even further by tweeting an image of a swastika, a Nazi emblem, inside the Star of David, an important symbol of Jewish identity. His tweet was blocked as a violation of Twitter’s rules and Ye was later suspended from the platform for “incitement to violence.”
Story continues below advertisement
Twitter CEO Elon Musk, who calls himself a “free speech absolutist” and is overhauling the platform’s policies on hate speech, directly addressed Ye’s inflammatory posts.
Before he was suspended, Ye tweeted a picture of a shirtless Musk and suggested that this post would be his last on the site. Musk responded “That is fine,” to the tweet. In a reply to Ye’s Star of David image, Musk wrote, “This is not.” It’s unclear how long Ye’s suspension on Twitter will last.
Many of Ye’s former fans have turned their back on the rapper, and the r/Kanye subreddit, which once celebrated Ye, has now been flooded with posts raising awareness about the Holocaust.

The reaction against Ye from the Jewish Canadian community has been swift and a number of organizations have publicly denounced Ye as an antisemite.
B’nai Brith Canada called Ye’s remarks on Jones’ podcast, “dangerous, harmful, and disturbing,” calling the rapper a “vile antisemite.”

In a statement to Global News, Aaron Lakoff, media and communications lead for Independent Jewish Voices (IJV) Canada said Ye’s praise of Adolf Hitler, who oversaw the Nazi genocide of Jewish people, was “reprehensible and vile.”
“They are unfortunately indicative of the persistence of far-right fascism at the highest levels of American society,” Lakoff wrote. “We know that such views have permeated Canadian society as well, and Jewish Canadians have every reason to be concerned and angry.”
Jewish people remain the religious group most targeted by police-reported hate crimes in Canada, according to a 2021 Stats Canada report. Hate crimes directed towards Jewish people rose 47 per cent from 2020 to 2021, to a total of 487 incidents, the report shows.
According to the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, Jewish Canadians make up one per cent of the population and yet account for 14 per cent of all hate crimes, as reported by Canadian Jewish News.
Anti-Hate Network chair Farber says he has seen a massive wave of antisemitism recently, which he says is leaving Jewish people fearing for their safety. Farber pointed out that numerous other celebrities and politicians have come under fire recently for platforming antisemitic views, such as Kyrie Irving of the NBA and comedian Dave Chappelle on Saturday Night Live.
Farber says he fears that antisemitism and Holocaust denial are becoming normalized in everyday conversation as a result. “I mean, if genocide gets normalized, we as a society are in dire, dire trouble,” he told Global News.
Farber points to social media as a driving factor behind this recent surge in antisemitism, because it allows fringe opinions to reach millions of eyes with ease — especially if they are helped along by celebrities with large followings like Ye.
A day before Ye’s Infowars interview, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a terrorism advisory bulletin that addressed rising violence against minorities, which noted that there is an “enduring threat” against Jewish people by American extremists.
In response to media questions about Ye’s antisemitism, a DHS spokesperson said that celebrities and officials who espouse conspiracy theories can serve to incite violence, NBC reported.
Story continues below advertisement
“Certainly the Jewish community seems particularly targeted in recent days by that kind of activity in our discourse,” the official said.
Farber is pushing for a stronger denunciation of antisemitism from Canada’s politicians and community leaders, and for governments to take substantive action to stem religious persecution.
“But we’ve learned as a people that there will always be Kanye Wests in the world,” Farber said. “The Kanye Wests come and go, and the Jewish people are still here.”
How will Trump’s dinner with Kanye West, Nick Fuentes impact his presidential ambitions?
The one-minute trailer for Harry & Meghan, set to a slow and dramatic piano soundtrack, opens with a series of behind-the-scenes black-and-white photos showcasing the highs of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private life — selfies while on vacation, holding hands while Harry cradles a guitar, canoodling in a photo booth, a silhouette of a pregnant Markle and a photo of the couple dancing at their 2018 wedding reception.
But as the video continues, the music intensifies and so do the visuals; there’s a photo of Markle crying while on the phone, one of a frosty-looking Prince William and Kate Middleton sitting separate from Markle during the Sussexes’ final official engagement in 2020 and a brief flash of Harry and Markle wiping their eyes during an interview.
“Why did you want to make this documentary?” director Liz Garbus asks the couple from behind the camera.
“No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors,” Harry says. “I had to do everything I could to protect my family.”

The trailer for the six-part docuseries is the first time Netflix has publicly acknowledged the project, and the streaming service is billing it as an intimate series that “explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.

Netflix
The streaming service promises “a never-before-seen look at one of the most-discussed couples in history.”
While Netflix doesn’t disclose the official start date for the docuseries — a note on the trailer says it’s “coming soon” — several entertainment publications say we could see the series stream as soon as Dec. 8.

No matter when the series airs, however, it’s sure to be a busy season for the Duke and Duchess. Royal watchers are also anticipating the Jan. 10, 2023 release of Prince Harry’s official memoir, Spare.
The trailer release comes at a slightly awkward time for the Royal Family. On Wednesday, Prince William’s godmother and royal aide Lady Susan Hussey resigned after making racist comments to a Black British-born activist at a royal engagement hosted by Queen Consort Camilla.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are also facing a mixed reception as they arrive in Boston to begin their first U.S. tour in years. It’s only been a few weeks since we were privy to the first official trailer for the long-awaited The Super Mario Bros. animated movie, but we now have a second trailer that takes a deeper dive into the battle for supremacy in the Mario universe.
The trailer begins with Mario — voiced by Pratt — muttering a breathy “lets-a-go” while entering a massive coliseum of chanting fans. Last month, movie fans pointed out that Pratt’s Mario was missing the character’s classic, exaggerated Italian flair.
We then see the titular character face-off against Donkey Kong, voiced by Seth Rogen, who gives him an utter and complete smackdown.
Perhaps most exciting, however, is our first look at Princess Peach. She’s tall and brave and ready to fight. Voiced by Ana Taylor-Joy, Princess Peach will lead an army of reluctant Toads into war against Jack Black’s Bowser.
Fans of the franchise video games will be stoked to see some of the props and characters that have been with us since the first iterations of the Super Mario and Donkey Kong series. Koopa Troopas, Cheep Cheeps and an island full of Yoshis can be spotted as the trailer goes on.
There are also brief clips of Mario in a Tanooki power-up suit, a cameo from Cranky Kong and a race along Mario Kart’s Rainbow Road.
Nintendo Direct also released a second form of the trailer that features a pre-recorded clip of the film’s actors talking about the movie. During the presentation, Donkey Kong creator Shigeru Miyamoto teases fans, saying “It’s almost finished … and I’m not supposed to say anything else about it.”

With any luck, we’ll get to see much more of the vast Mario universe and the characters we’ve grown to love over the years.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie will hit theatres April 7, 2023.
‘That ‘90s show’ official teaser released by Netflix
The Formans have opened their basement once again, this time to a cast of characters from a younger generation.
Netflix has dropped the trailer for the reboot series That ’90s Show, giving fans a glimpse of what Red and Kitty Forman are up to these days.
The trailer also introduces viewers to Leia Forman, the teenage daughter of That ’70s Show characters Donna and Eric. Leia (Callie Haverda) has been shipped off to her grandparent’s home in Point Place, Wisc., for the summer of 1995.
And despite the show being set 20 years in the future, you’re never know it from looking at Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp.) They haven’t aged a day!

In the reboot, Leia is set to make friends with “a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes.”
She meets next-door neighbour Gwen (Ashley Aufderheide), who introduces Leia to her group of friends, played by Maxwell Acee Donovan, Sam Morelos, Reyn Doi, Mace Coronel.
Another star of the show also features prominently in the trailer – the Forman’s basement, home to many pot-smoking sessions, has been restored to its That ’70s Show glory.

Rapper Kanye West, who has legally changed his name to Ye, has announced that he intends to run for U.S. president in 2024 in a series of campaign videos released late Thursday evening.
The move follows a previously failed presidential bid in 2020 that saw him garner a measly 60,000 votes.
In the first of his campaign videos, Ye claims he asked former president Donald Trump to be his running mate. Trump announced last week that he is also running for president in 2024 after a failed re-election campaign in 2020.
“I mean, has that ever worked for anyone in history?” Ye added. “I’m like, hold on, hold on, hold on, Trump, you’re talking to Ye.”
Ye also said in the video that he believed Trump should have freed the people who were detained for participating in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Ye also tweeted a text exchange that appears to show that alt-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulous and white nationalist Nick Fuentes have joined his campaign team. Each of their contacts in Ye’s phone has YE24 added, the tagline that the rapper has been using in all of his campaign videos.

Ye’s presidential bid comes on the heels of a slew of damaging scandals around the outspoken rapper and fashion designer.
He provoked outrage during Paris Fashion Week by wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “White Lives Matter,” a phrase that has been used by white supremacists to discount the Black Lives Matter movement.
While defending himself online, Ye made antisemitic comments that led to him being suspended from Twitter and Instagram.
Ye claimed that his critics were being paid by a secret cabal of Jewish people, a common antisemitic trope. The Guardian reported that, at one point, he said he would go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.”
The outrage that followed led Ye’s talent agency to drop him, and multiple fashion companies, including Adidas, Balenciaga and Gap, cut ties with him. The rapper later said that he lost “two billion dollars in one day” due to the economic blowback.
A day before announcing his presidential bid, Adidas stated that it was launching an investigation into Ye over allegations of harassment against employees who worked on his Yeezy shoe line. Adidas employees told Rolling Stone magazine that Ye used “mind games” to create a “toxic environment” in the company.
Ye is the second person to announce their 2024 presidential bid, behind Trump. It seems he wants to get an early start this election after announcing his 2020 campaign too late to appear on the ballot in several states.
In the end, Ye was only listed as a presidential candidate in 12 states in 2020 and held only one rally — in which he broke down while discussing abortion and his then-wife Kim Kardashian.

The Astoria, Ore., property was listed earlier this month by Jordan Miller of John L. Scott Real Estate for US$1.65 million.

Cinephiles will be stoked to learn the home’s exterior remains very true to the 1985 film, although the window casings and door are now orange, not red. Also missing, somewhat disappointingly, is the Rube Goldberg machine that powered the home’s front gate and was featured in the movie’s opening scenes.
Nevertheless, the historic home, which was built in 1896, measures 1,935 sq. ft. and includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The current owner gave the home a recent refresh, with an updated kitchen, new carpet and fresh paint.
And let’s not forget the amazing ladder that led the Goonies into the attic where they discovered the map to One Eyed-Willie’s gold — that remains in the house, too.

The home also features sweeping views of the Columbia River flowing into the Pacific Ocean and the listing describes it as “fully loaded with history, nostalgia and iconic level of fame.”
“It seems to be everybody’s intention to be able to open up the house a little bit more and have more access,” he said.

And that’s certainly a plan that would prove popular with Goonies groupies. AP reports that the current owner, Sandi Preston, has been largely welcoming of the visitors who have flocked to see the iconic house, but has been forced to close the home’s property to foot traffic at times.

After the film’s 30th anniversary drew about 1,500 daily visitors in 2015, Preston posted “no trespassing” signs prohibiting tourists from walking up to the property. She reopened it to the public this past August.
The new owner might also have their work cut out for them in terms of keeping the peace with their neighbours.

However, Miller insists that the home would make a “fun buy.”
“Whoever buys the house is going to have a relatively steady stream of extremely happy people walking up outside to fulfill their childhood dreams.”
Last month’s outrage over Netflix’s fictional series The Crown reportedly had execs at the streaming giant a bit “rattled,” to the point where they planned to postpone the docuseries until sometime in the new year.
Season 5 of ‘The Crown’ receives mixed reviews
However, it now looks like the documentary will be out before the end of the year.

The Crown, a fictionalized drama that follows the sometimes-true, sometimes-exaggerated history of the British Royal Family, raised eyebrows and ire amongst both the public and some of the show’s real-life subjects, after trailers for Season 5 allegedly painted a season full of invention and insensitivity.
Former British Prime Minister John Major is one of those who addressed the issue, saying The Crown’s portrayal of the then-Prince Charles trying to recruit him in a scheme to dethrone the queen was “malicious” and “a barrel-load of nonsense.”
A spokeswoman for The Crown told the BBC: “The Crown has always been presented as a drama based on historical events. Series five is a fictional dramatization, imagining what could have happened behind closed doors during a significant decade for the royal family—one that has already been scrutinised and well-documented by journalists, biographers and historians.”
The release of the docuseries will kick-start a busy season for the Duke and Duchess. Last month it was announced that Harry’s memoir, Spare, will be released on Jan. 10 – almost exactly three years to the day since he and Meghan announced they were stepping back from their duties as working members of the Royal Family.

Prince Harry’s new memoir being released in January 2023
When Harry’s autobiography was first announced in July 2021, the prince said it would be “firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful” — perhaps a dig at the British press, which has hounded him his entire life, and now his wife too, ever since their marriage. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been at odds with tabloids reporting on their personal lives, even going to court over allegations of breached privacy.
The book has been billed as a tell-all and has been the subject of immense speculation, much like the docuseries. It is expected to cover the prince’s childhood to the present day, including his time serving in Afghanistan with the British military and his current life as a husband and father.
Harry’s memoir has already been delayed once, and much has changed since it was first announced. During that time, Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II died and his father is now King of the Commonwealth.
The book’s delay led to rumours that Harry was hesitating to say too much about the Royal Family, or was perhaps revising the narrative around Queen Elizabeth II. He has spoken of being estranged from his brother, William, although the siblings and their wives appeared in public together during the mourning period following the queen’s death.
“With its raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief,” the publisher wrote in a press release.
Spare will be released in 16 languages worldwide accompanied by an audiobook narrated by Prince Harry himself.
Brendan Fraser says he will not attend the Golden Globes next year, even if he is nominated for his lionized performance in The Whale.
The actor’s decision not to attend the glitzy award show stems from an incident in which Fraser, 53, claimed he was sexually assaulted by Philip Berk, a former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the group that organizes the Golden Globes.
Though Fraser publicly accused Berk in 2018, he claimed the HFPA member groped him at a lunch in Beverly Hills in 2003.
In a new interview with GQ Magazine, The Mummy star confirmed the allegation against Berk — and subsequent media attention — was a contributing factor in why he disappeared from Hollywood. Despite ample success in his early career, the popular ’90s and ’00s actor vanished from the big screen for several years.
Story continues below advertisement
At the time, Fraser claimed he was “miserable” and “reclusive.” He said he blamed himself for the alleged sexual assault.
Berk has denied ever sexually assaulting Fraser, though he told GQ in 2018 that he did write a letter of apology to the actor.
In an internal investigation, the HFPA determined Berk had “inappropriately touched” Fraser but claimed the groping “was intended to be taken as a joke.” (Berk was later removed from the HFPA in 2021 after he said the Black Lives Matter is “a racist hate movement.”)
Brendan Fraser receives 6-minute standing ovation for ‘The Whale’ at Venice Film Fest
“I have more history with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association than I have respect for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” Fraser told GQ.
Now, even if he is nominated for The Whale (which may also score Fraser an Oscar nomination), he said he “will not participate” in the Golden Globes.

“It’s because of the history that I have with them,” he said. “And my mother didn’t raise a hypocrite. You can call me a lot of things, but not that.”
The Whale, which marked Fraser’s triumphant return to Hollywood, was shown at the Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival where it received widespread acclaim.
The film follows Charlie, a 600-pound man played by Fraser, who tries to build a relationship with his estranged daughter Ellie, played by Sadie Sink.
The Golden Globe Awards are scheduled to take place on Jan. 10, 2023.
The woman whose California home was destroyed in the car crash that killed Anne Heche is suing the actor’s estate for at least US$2 million (approximately CA$2.6 million).
Lynne Mishele lived and worked in the Mar Vista rental home that Heche drove her Mini Cooper into on Aug. 5. As per court documents, Mishele claimed her house and possessions were obliterated as a result of the crash and subsequent “towering inferno.” Mishele, her two dogs and her pet tortoise were not physically harmed.
Heche, 53, died as a result of a “severe anoxic brain injury.” Sixty firefighters reportedly attempted to pull Heche from her car for at least an hour. She was conscious at the time, but later became comatose. She was declared legally dead on Aug. 12 and was removed from life support two days later.

In the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles last week, Mishele and her lawyers called the car crash a “horrific and tragic incident.”

Mishele alleged that Heche’s car barrelled through the property’s front garden, living room, kitchen, home office, a closet and laundry room before it came “to a halt just feet away” from her and her pets.
Mishele claimed the incident has left her “completely traumatised,” and said she now suffers from insomnia, anxiety and depression.
The lawsuit alleged Mischele is unusually startled by “loud noises, plagued by nightmares and flashbacks of the incident, terrified of walking outside, and, atop that, without a place to live.”
“As a direct consequence of Heche’s outrageous conduct and unlawful acts, (Mishele) and her beloved pets almost lost their lives, not to mention that (Mishele) also had an entire life’s worth of her personal possessions destroyed in the fire,” the lawsuit reads.

The legal filing alleged a blood analysis from Heche discovered the presence of cocaine and fentanyl in her system. (This allegation has not been proven nor publicly confirmed by police or law enforcement.)
Though police were originally investigating the crash as an impaired driving incident, the investigation was dropped after Heche was declared brain dead. The coroner ruled the actor’s death an accident.
In August, Mishele shared a video to Instagram in which she called Heche’s death “devastating” and sent love to the actor’s family and children.

Mishele’s lawsuit is only the most recent legal action regarding Heche’s estate. The actor’s son, Homer Laffoon, submitted court papers requesting that he be allowed to administer his mother’s estate. Heche did not have a will when she died. The petition lists Laffoon and 13-year-old Atlas Tupper, Heche’s son with former partner James Tupper, as her only heirs.
Heche was the winner of a Daytime Emmy Award in 1991 for her roles as identical twin sisters in the NBC soap opera Another World. Heche also starred in the 1998 adventure comedy Six Days Seven Nights with Harrison Ford and played alongside Demi Moore and Cher in the HBO TV movie If These Walls Could Talk.
Later in her career, Heche starred as a senior member of the Defense Intelligence Agency in the NBC TV series The Brave and appeared on the competition show Dancing With The Stars in late 2020.
Adidas plans to sell more Yeezy designs in the new year, though rapper Kanye West, who created the popular shoes, will not be involved.
The German-based company cut ties with West, who legally changed his name to Ye, in October. Ye was dropped following intense public pressure for Adidas to end its partnership with the musician over his recent antisemitic outbursts.
During a call about quarterly earnings on Wednesday, Adidas’ chief financial officer Harm Ohlmeyer said the company is likely to continue selling Yeezy designs under a different product name.
“I can confirm that Adidas is the sole owner of all design rights related to existing product, as well as previous and new colorways under the partnership,” he said. “We intend to make use of these rights as early as 2023.”

Business Insider reported the Yeezy Slide could be an exception to this, as the musician owns the patent for that design.
Ye has not spoken publicly about Adidas’ claims they will continue to sell Yeezy designs.
Holocaust survivor calls for more education to combat rising antisemitism
Ohlmeyer said the company will “leverage the existing inventory,” though plans for the product and new branding are still in the works.
On Oct. 25, Adidas ended their partnership with Ye, and released a statement claiming that the company does “not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.”
At the time, Adidas claimed they would immediately stop production of all Yeezy branded products and halt any payments to Ye.
Last month, the brand predicted the severance from Ye would cause a short-term negative impact of up to 250 million euros (about C$339 million) on the company’s fourth-quarter income.
On Wednesday, Ohlmeyer claimed Adidas could save more than €300 million ($411 million) in royalty payments and marketing fees if they continue to push the product in stores and online.
“This will help us to compensate the vast majority of the top and the bottom-line impact in 2023,” Ohlmeyer said.
Ye’s initial partnership with Adidas began in 2013. The nine-year arrangement was financially fruitful but not without difficulties.
Ye, on more than one occasion, has publicly voiced his upset with Adidas on social media. In September, the rapper accused the company’s top executives of stealing his ideas and leaving him out of important meetings to do with product planning.
Since October, other companies including Balenciaga, Vogue, the record label Def Jam, the major talent agency CAA and the movie studio MRC (who had financed and filmed a documentary about Ye) have all separated from Ye.
A woman has come forward to launch a lawsuit against Hollywood legend Warren Beatty, accusing the actor of grooming her when she was only 14 years old, and coercing her into sex.
Kristina Charlotte Hirsch filed the lawsuit on monday in Los Angeles Superior Court under a 2019 California law that opened up a three-year “lookback window” for victims of child sexual abuse to sue their abusers regardless of the statute of limitations. The window expires on Dec. 31.
The lawsuit doesn’t cite Beatty by name, instead referring to him as Defendant Doe, but the abuser is described as having portrayed Clyde in Bonnie and Clyde, a role that earned Beatty a Best Actor nomination at the Academy Awards.
So far, there has been no public comment on the lawsuit by Beatty, 85, or his lawyer.
Hirsch, then 14, alleges that Beatty, then 35, met her on a movie set where he was filming, and paid “undue attention” to her.
The defendant “commented repeatedly on her looks, gave her his phone number, and instructed her to call him,” the lawsuit reads.
Hirsch was initially “thrilled by the attention” of a Hollywood actor and accepted Beatty’s invitation to visit his hotel room, according to the lawsuit — an invitation that Betty would extend again and again.
“Over the course of 1973, Defendant Doe called the Plaintiff on numerous occasions and summoned the teenager to the hotel where he was living to spend time with him,” the lawsuit reads.
The suit continues that Beatty would take Hirsch on car rides, offered to help her with homework, and on multiple occasions “spoke to Plaintiff about losing her virginity.”
As their relationship progressed, the lawsuit says that Beatty used his position “as an adult and a Hollywood movie star,” to coerce her into sexual acts with him. The sexual abuse occurred on numerous occasions until late 1973 and included oral sex, simulated sex and, “finally coerced sexual intercourse with the minor child,” the lawsuit claims.
Hirsch is suing Beatty on charges of sexual battery, sexual assault and harassment of a child and is seeking damages for emotional, physical and psychological distress.
The lawsuit states that Hirsch was a victim of “predatory grooming,” and “believed she was involved in a romantic relationship with a movie star.”
In the aftermath of the childhood sexual abuse, Hirsch finds it difficult to interact with people, especially those in positions of authority, as she struggles with “trust and control,” the lawsuit states.
Hirsch has requested a jury trial and is seeking compensation for attorney fees in addition to damages. She is being represented by Jeff Anderson & Associates, a firm that has handled child sex abuse cases against the Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts of America.
Experts discuss impact of sexual abuse in children
Jennifer Aniston has opened up about the struggles she faced while trying to have a baby, and is also hitting back at the tabloids who relentlessly pontificated on the status of her uterus.
“It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,” the actor said in an interview with Allure magazine for its December cover story.
Aniston, 53, is best known for her role as Rachel Greene on NBC’s smash sitcom Friends. The series skyrocketed her to fame, which came with the unfortunate scrutiny and rumours about why she was not having children.
For years she was accused of prioritizing her career over starting a family, and the tabloids kept their eyes fixated on her waistline, trying to determine if her midsection was growing.

“It was absolute lies, (the) narrative that I was just selfish, I just cared about my career,” she told Allure.
“And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid,” she said, addressing the rumours that Justin Theroux divorced her in 2018 because she wouldn’t have a child with him.
“All the years and years and years of speculation … it was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it,” she shared.
Jennifer Aniston reacts to Brad Pitt watching her acceptance speech
“I was throwing everything at it. I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favour.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”
Aniston, currently starring in the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, explained that she was infuriated by all the speculation over her body, which led her to write an opinion post for HuffPost in 2016, taking the tabloids to task for fixating on her stomach.

“For the record, I am not pregnant,” she wrote for HuffPost. “What I am is fed up. I’m fed up with the sport-like scrutiny and body shaming that occurs daily under the guise of ‘journalism,’ the ‘First Amendment’ and ‘celebrity news.’
“The objectification and scrutiny we put women through is absurd and disturbing. The way I am portrayed by the media is simply a reflection of how we see and portray women in general, measured against some warped standard of beauty.”
“Hence that op-ed I wrote,” she said. “I was like, ‘I’ve just got to write this because it’s so maddening and I’m not superhuman to the point where I can’t let it penetrate and hurt.’”

It’s not the first time Aniston has gotten candid about her frustration with the media. In 2017, she told Glamour magazine that if she could ban any one word or phrase from tabloids, it would be “a picture of me with a hand over my stomach, saying ‘Finally Pregnant!’”
Despite everything, Aniston told Allure, “I have zero regrets.”
She added that she’s “proud of my wrinkles and grey hair,” and that she’s in a great phase of her life. The pressure to have children has passed, which she said is very freeing.
In a grand, symbolic gesture, American actor Sean Penn presented his Oscar statuette to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a recent meeting in Kyiv.
In a video of the meeting posted to Zelenskyy’s Instagram account on Tuesday, Penn revealed the statuette to the president and insisted he take the coveted prize.
“I feel terrible,” said Penn, 62. “It’s just a symbolic silly thing, but if I know this is here with you then I’ll feel better and stronger for the fight.”
“When you win, bring it back to Malibu, because I’ll feel much better knowing there’s a piece of me here,” he added.

This was Penn’s third trip to Ukraine since Russia invaded the country in February. He has been a vocal advocate for Ukraine and a staunch supporter of Zelenskyy since the start of the war.
In his Instagram caption, Zelenskyy called the Oscars statuette “a symbol of faith in the victory of our country.”
Penn has two Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role from Mystic River in 2003 and Milk in 2008.
Hollywood actor and film director Sean Penn (R) meets Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (L) as he hands over his own Oscar statuette to the Ukrainian president in Kyiv, Ukraine on Nov. 8.

Zelenskyy also presented Penn Ukraine’s Order of Merit. The president made sure to specify that the award is not from him, but rather “from Ukraine.”
The pair then walked through the streets of Kyiv where Zelenskyy revealed a plaque in the ground bearing Penn’s name, signature and the date of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Feb. 24, 2022.

The plaque is a part of the Walk of the Brave, which Zelenskyy described as a place where “present and future generations of Ukrainians will remember those brave people who have stood with Ukraine from the very beginning.”
“There are three places in the world that all the pride of my life will be,” Penn said while standing over the plaque. “The place where my daughter was born, the place where my son was born and this.”

In March, Penn threatened to publicly “smelt” his Oscars if Zelenskyy — who was an actor himself — was not permitted to speak at the 2022 Academy Awards. Though Zelenskyy did not speak at the event (and Penn did not destroy his statuettes), the Ukrainian president gave a speech at this year’s Grammy Awards.
In his pre-taped address, Zelenskyy urged entertainers and viewers at home to speak about the Russia-Ukraine invasion and fill the silence of war with music.
The Twitter account belonging to comedian Kathy Griffin was suspended on Sunday after she changed the name and photo of her verified profile to Elon Musk.
Musk, 51, officially purchased Twitter in October for US$44 billion.
In direct defiance of the new Twitter owner’s claims that all accounts impersonating someone else — without clear mention of the account being a parody — would be suspended, Griffin, 62, mocked Musk.
With Musk’s name and photo, she urged Americans to protect abortion rights and vote for the Democratic Party in the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. (On Monday, Musk encouraged his followers to vote Republican.)

“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended,” Musk decreed on Sunday.
He claimed before his takeover, accounts were “issued a warning before suspension,” but that this would no longer be the case.
Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning.
This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue.
Also on Sunday, Musk responded on Twitter to reports that Griffin’s account had been suspended. In jest, Musk wrote that Griffin was “suspended for impersonating a comedian.”
Using her late mother’s profile, Griffin responded to Musk’s tweets. She called Musk an “a—hole” and a “hack.”
“Please do a better job running this company. It used to mean something,” she wrote before signing off as “KG.”
I mean… you stole that joke, you asshole. People have been posting that joke for hours, you hack. Look, please do a better job running this company. It used to mean something. This is KG btw
On Monday, Griffin kept up the joke. She claimed to be Maggie Griffin contacting Musk “from the spirit world.”
“This is not a parody. This is the actual ghost of Kathy Griffin’s boxed wine loving mother saying I’m gonna get tipsy and throw my bingo cards at you,” Griffin wrote.
Elon, this is Maggie contacting you from the spirit world tell u…you’re a douchebag. This is not parody. This is the actual ghost of Kathy Griffin’s boxed wine loving mother saying I’m gonna get tipsy & throw my bingo cards at you! NOT A PARODY. To the moon, a**hole. #FreeKathyhttps://t.co/NmIsNzHwVP
Griffin is not the only person to have their account suspended for impersonating Musk.
Comedian Sarah Silverman claimed her account was locked when she changed her name and photo to Musk and tweeted, “I am a freedom of speech absolutist and I eat doody for breakfast every day.”
YouTuber (and well-known internet troll) Ethan Klein also claimed his account was suspended for impersonating Musk. In a TikTok video posted late Sunday, Klein playfully lamented that he was “permanently banned on Twitter by the supposed free speech warrior, Elon Musk.”
With his name and photo changed to Musk, Klein tweeted: “Even though Jeffrey Epstein committed horrible crimes, I do still miss him on nights like this for his warmth and comradery [sic]. Rest in peace old friend.”

Two additional accounts separately claiming to be American conservative journalist and right-wing influencer Andy Ngo and actor Keanu Reeves were also suspended.
It appears Johnny Depp will be welcomed back into the entertainment sphere with open arms, though it’s not without criticism.
Depp, 59, will make a cameo appearance in Rihanna‘s highly anticipated Savage X Fenty fashion show, alongside a number of other celebrities and influencers.
The 40-minute show is the fourth of its kind for Rihanna’s incredibly popular lingerie and sleepwear brand.
A press release for the upcoming show called the event a “seductive fashion fever dream.” Depp was not mentioned in the press release in the long list of notable people taking part.
Though Depp will not be on the catwalk, his pre-recorded cameo will come halfway through the show, to the tune of Outkast’s So Fresh, So Clean.
Story continues below advertisement
Leaked images of Depp for the fashion show have already circulated online.
Neither Depp nor Rihanna has commented publicly on the Pirates of the Caribbean actor’s involvement.
News of Depp’s participation in the show, which was first reported by TMZ, triggered instant conversation on social media, with many calling for Rihanna and her team to #DitchDepp.
Depp remains a polarizing figure following the highly publicized defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, which concluded in June. Depp sued Heard over a 2018 op-ed she penned for the Washington Post, in which she referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” The jury awarded Depp US$10 million in damages and provided Heard a partial $2-million win. Both Depp and Heard have appealed the verdict.

Jury awards Johnny Depp $15 million in damages in defamation suit against Amber Heard
In 2020, Depp lost a similar case in the U.K., in which he sued the British tabloid The Sun for calling him a “wife beater.” A U.K. judge decided The Sun’s claims were “substantially true.” Heard testified in court to back The Sun’s claims. Depp appealed the verdict but was denied.
Though Depp won his most recent case, public sentiment for the actor is very clearly divided.
If Johnny Depp has any part in this, I will no longer support the brand.
It amazes me how so many people could be manipulated by Amber Heard’s lies. You guys are beating a dead horse. The trial is OVER. Johnny Depp is INNOCENT. Amber is GUILTY. Some of you didn’t watch the trial and it shows.
Congrats on the appearance with Rihanna, Johnny. ❤️🏴☠️
Rihanna is a billionaire, so that’s strike one. One minute she’s not performing at the Super Bowl in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick and the next minute she’s announcing she is and for some reason she invited Johnny Depp to be part of her show. Morals where?
Rihanna is fr so weird for bringing Johnny Depp into her show. NO ONE was talking about this man until the trial. the ONLY reason he’s relevant is for beating women. like where is her head
Rihanna is a TRUE strong female role model. She has a mind of her own and has made her own money, not stolen from men like a certain lying abuser. Her supporting fellow survivor Johnny Depp only increases my respect for her.
I’ve been following Rihanna since she debuted in 2005 and I’ve been a huge fan ever since. I remember reading her story and I’ve supported her ever since. I’m so proud of her. Seeing her supporting Johnny Depp like this warms my heart. She knows a survivor when she sees one
Many fans of Rihanna, 34, have expressed either their confusion or support for Depp’s participation in the fashion show, given it is widely known that the singer herself was a victim of domestic abuse. In 2009, her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown was arrested and pleaded guilty to physically assaulting Rihanna.
Rihanna giving Johnny Depp clout is actually a really good example of why it means nothing when someone says “as a victim of domestic violence, I support JD”. Like sorry that you went through that however it is still very not OK to support abusers!!!
If you think about it, Rihanna – a domestic abuse survivor standing up for Johnny Depp – another domestic abuse survivor – is absolutely heartwarming and beautiful. More power to survivors around the world.
not Rihanna, a domestic abuse victim, partnering with johnny depp?? pls girly I am trying to see past the money-grabbing billionnairism because you do good makeup and good skincare and good fragrance and good fashion and good music, but I cannot look past this!!!! Disappointed
Other celebrity appearances at the Savage X Fenty fashion show, as per the press release, include Simu Liu, Cara Delevingne, Bella Poarch, Kornbread, Lilly Singh, Rickey Thompson and many more.

The Savage X Fenty fashion show will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday.
On top of welcoming three new babies into the world in the last six months, the 42-year-old television host has now announced that he is expecting his eleventh child.
It will be his second baby with model Alyssa Scott, who shared an intimate Instagram post of Cannon holding her pregnant belly in the bathtub with the caption, “This is a MIRACLE & a BLESSING.”
Cannon and Scott’s first child, a son named Zen, was born in June 2021 but he died from brain cancer at just five months old.

Apart from his two children with Scott, Cannon has had a whopping nine other kids with various women. He had his first two children in 2011 with his most famous beau, Mariah Carey, with whom he shares twins Morocco and Monroe.
After a hiatus, Cannon welcomed his next child with Brittney Bell in 2017, a son named Golden “Sagon.” In 2020, the pair also had a daughter, named Powerful Queen.
In June 2021, the same month when Zen was born, Cannon welcomed twins with Abby De La Rosa, named Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir.
In 2022, Cannon welcomed three children born to three different women. He had another child with Bell, named Rise Messiah, a son named Legendary Love with model Bre Tiesi and a daughter named Onyx Ice with model LaNisha Cole.
In June, De La Rosa announced on Instagram that she is pregnant again but has not revealed who the father is. Fans have speculated that it might be Cannon’s child. If confirmed, that would bring Cannon’s kid count to 12.

Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds may be interested in purchasing the Ottawa Senators if the NHL team is put up for sale, new reports claim.
Rumours are already growing that the Deadpool actor, who already co-owns the Welsh football club Wrexham AFC, is interested in the opportunity for both business and personal reasons.
According to People, who spoke to a source close to Reynolds, he would like the Senators to stay in Ottawa, as a sale could potentially result in the team’s relocation.
Reynolds, 46, has not commented publicly on the matter.
He did, however, post a cheeky tweet on Tuesday alluding to his interest in purchasing the Sens.
Story continues below advertisement
When one Twitter user wrote that Reynolds should be the owner of the hockey team, the actor replied with a simple thinking emoji.
The NHL has not issued a public statement, though the Ottawa Senators reportedly retained a bank this month to explore the possibility of a sale. Currently, the team is owned by the children of Eugene Melnyk, Anna and Olivia, both of whom are under 25. Melnyk died in March but acquired the team in 2003.
At the time of Melnyk’s purchase, the Senators were on the verge of bankruptcy. He paid $92 million for the team and its arena, the former Corel Centre, now the Canadian Tire Centre.

Bruce Firestone, the founder of the Ottawa Senators, told People that there are “at least two local groups who are looking at the opportunity” to purchase the NHL team. He did not name Reynolds specifically.

On Twitter, Senators fans seemed mostly enthusiastic about the possibility of Reynolds as a new owner.
Logging on to Twitter to see that Ryan Reynolds is interested in buying the Senators was not something I ever expected. That would be beyond incredible.
Reynolds is currently promoting his new Apple TV+ Christmas movie, Spirited. Also starring Will Ferrell, the festive comedy is a modern retelling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
The latest Spirited trailer was released on Wednesday.
