    LakePoint Sports, the nation’s premier travel and youth sports destination, is partnering with KT Tape for the second annual KT Tape Summer Show Stoppers. This is the fourth of six sold-out Champions Weekends in 2022.

    As the title partner of the Summer Show Stoppers, KT Tape will offer a free taping for athletes who might need pain relief and flexible support to keep their muscles active and recovering during competition.

    College basketball, baseball and beach volleyball coaches will be on campus throughout the weekend to see elite athletes from around the country compete in their respective sports.

    The 12-court Champions Center at LakePoint Sports will host the National High School Basketball Coaches Association (NHSBCA) Team Camp. The NHSBCA Team Camp is part of the NCAA’s Evaluation Period, which allows college coaches to travel and see players in person. Dozens of Power 5 conference schools will have coaches present on campus for this three-day event to see the elite talent competing this weekend.

    In the LakePoint Sports Baseball Village, dozens of college coaches will be on hand to see elite prospects compete in Prep Baseball Report’s (PBR) 16U National Championship. Over 140 of the nation’s top 16U baseball teams will vie for the title of best in the country.

    The 10-court Beach Pavilion will host Rally Volleyball’s East Coast Championships. This event will feature top players from the southeast as they look to impress college coaches.

    The weekend’s excitement features something for all guests, including music courtesy of DJ JJ, partner promotions, food and beverage specials, and a live broadcast from 680 the Fan, the best sports talk radio station in the southeast and the flagship station of the Atlanta Braves. 

    Fans, scouts, coaches, and media, who cannot make it to campus can catch all the action via LakePoint Live, powered by PlaySight.     XP League is the first coach-led Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) competitive gaming league in North America for high school, middle school and elementary-aged players. Its innovative program spans multiple games and seasons throughout the U.S. and Canada, with an emphasis on building social skills and sportsmanship.     All four venues will be in action for the sold-out weekend, with the Multi-purpose Fields Complex playing host to soccer’s rising stars competing in the Southeastern Club Champions League. For many of those players, it will be the first time competing on the newly renovated fields.

    The UK’s National Railway Museum is seeking the help of rail fans across the United States to help celebrate the 100th birthday of one of the world’s most recognizable steam locomotives – Flying Scotsman. 

    Built in Doncaster, England, in 1923, the engine became the first steam locomotive to officially reach 100 mph, capturing the hearts of people across the world. 

    Flying Scotsman turns 100 in 2023, and the locomotive’s current owners, the National Railway Museum, have launched an appeal to find memories and stories of Flying Scotsman. These could feature as part of a new exhibition called Flying Scotsman: 100 Years, 100 Voices.

    Charlotte Kingston, Head of Interpretation and Design at the National Railway Museum, said: “Often described as ‘the people’s engine,’ we want to hear what Flying Scotsman means to you, and we particularly want to hear from people who have family memories of Flying Scotsman’s famous trip to the United States. We hope that this exhibition will create a lasting and important chapter in the Flying Scotsman story.” 

    Flying Scotsman famously visited the United States and Canada between 1969 and 1973 as part of a tour organized by British owner Alan Pegler. In 1969, Flying Scotsman was fitted with a cowcatcher, a bell and American-style whistle and set off from Boston along the eastern seaboard of the United States, visiting New York, Washington D.C., and ending in Houston, Texas. 

    The following year Flying Scotsman began another tour of U.S. towns and cities, which included Chicago and the National Railroad Museum at Green Bay, Wisconsin, before travelling to Canada and finishing at Niagara Falls on the Canadian/U.S. border. 

    The 1970 tour was beset by financial difficulties, and in a bid to balance the books, in 1971 Pegler arranged for the train to travel to Toronto and then San Francisco where it went on display at Fisherman’s Wharf. The trip worked well operationally but was a financial disaster, and Alan Pegler was forced into bankruptcy, leaving Flying Scotsman stranded in the USA.

    In 1973 Flying Scotsman was brought back to the UK after Sir William McAlpine arranged to pay creditors and to purchase the locomotive.

    Flying Scotsman left the Doncaster workshops in February 1923 and was the first locomotive of the newly formed LNER (London and North Eastern Railway). Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and numbered 1472, the locomotive was named ‘Flying Scotsman’ the following year when it was picked to attend the British Empire Exhibition in London and renumbered 4472.

    Mr. Franco has extensive experience as a strategic advisor and COO, leading teams in blue chips and start-ups.     Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN) and American Airlines are proud to announce that a new seasonal non-stop route between New Bern, N.C., and Washington, D.C., will launch June 4, 2022.

    New Saturday service between EWN and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) will be operated by a CRJ-700 regional jet outfitted with 65 seats in a two-cabin configuration and is planned to continue through Aug. 13, 2022.

    “As people look forward to summer travel, American Airlines is making it easier than ever to take to the skies with friends and family by providing customers more choice, convenience and flexibility than ever before,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Vice President of Network Planning. “This new seasonal service builds on our promise to offer customers the industry’s best network, with easy access to all the region has to offer.”

    North Carolina’s Outer Banks, the Crystal Coast and Historic New Bern will now be just an 85-minute flight away for those in the D.C. area, giving people more opportunities to explore the quiet beaches, historic landmarks and world-class fishing that eastern North Carolina offers.

    The route will begin with weekly 85-minute flights with the hopes of adding more flights in the future.

    Coastal Carolina Regional Airport embodies the welcoming spirit of the area and is known for its amazing customer service and relaxing environment. The airport has also recently made infrastructure improvements with several terminal upgrades and a new Airport Rescue & Firefighting facility. 

    This new route is the result of hard work and collaboration by the airport and area organizations, including Craven 100 Alliance (C1A) and Visit New Bern, along with consistent support by Craven County.

For Sydney with Love is a celebration of Sydney, its icons and natural environment — on the foreshore and the Harbour, under the sea, in the sky and through the artist’s imagination. 

    Earth Deities, Hickson Road Reserve, The Rocks

    One of Australia’s hottest artists, Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran, who grew up in Western Sydney, specialises in large-scale sculptural forms fabricated from compacted earth, steel and paint. His multi-limbed avatar generates spectacle, ritual and gathering, and will enthral audiences with animated fire and electricity. 

    Convergence, The Goods Line, Central Station

    Produced by Sydney’s own Mandylights, Convergence is a fully immersive journey of light and sound that will transform the disused Goods Line railway tunnel for the first time ever. Presenting the largest scale laser installation at Vivid Sydney, this is a never-to-be-forgotten experience. 

    Future Natives, Various Locations

    For the first time in the festival’s history, the Light Walk will run continuously for 8km from Sydney Opera House to Central Station, with visitors guided along the Light Walk by Future Natives, a sculptural way-finding installation featuring a flock of 200 Sydney bird species created by Sydney artist Chris Daniel. 

    Vivid Sydney 2022 will activate and energise the Sydney CBD, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour, Goods Line and Central Station, as well as iconic city structures such as Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, MCA and Customs House.

     Travefy has announced a new certification program created exclusively for Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Industry Partner Training. The certification courses have been designed to educate travel advisors on how to utilize Travefy’s award-winning tools to streamline their travel business.

    Travefy’s certification program allows Agent Members of CLIA to obtain course credits that are applied towards CLIA’s leading Certification Program to help expand knowledge of travel and cruise-specific topics to grow clientele and sales.

    Graham Hospitality, a division of The Graham Companies, announced that Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club, a destination designed for both the business and leisure traveler, has changed its name to Miami Lakes Hotel on Main in a repositioning of the brand that comes as the Company seeks to create a distinctive Hotel experience for the modern traveler. 

    The change represents a new generation in the Hotel’s 38-year history. As one of Miami’s last independently owned properties, the new name will be synonymous with the resort’s unique history in the Town of Miami Lakes. Coach Shula’s name is a keepsake in the Town and is enshrined in the Miami Lakes Sports Hall of Fame, where he was inducted as a member of the first class in 2017. A plaque in his honor is displayed at Miami Lakes Optimist Park.

    Since 1983, the Hotel has provided customized travel experiences with its resort-style amenities and family-friendly, service-oriented environment. Located in the heart of Miami Lakes, the property features 205 guest rooms and 17 suites decorated in the Florida contemporary style. The property also boasts a 45,000-square-foot athletic club offering a variety of fitness classes, eight lighted tennis courts, one outdoor basketball court, a full-size gymnasium, and a 60-yard outdoor sports field. In addition, the resort offers guests access to a championship 18-hole golf course and club. 

    As part of The Graham Companies’ vision for the future, the rebranding and new name will also include the namesake golf and athletic clubs, as well as the steak and sports bar-restaurant, which will be named Miami Lakes Golf Club, Miami Lakes Athletic Club, and ML Steaks+Sports. In conjunction with the brand re-launch, the Company will unveil a new website, miamilakeshotel.com, and the Company’s email addresses will migrate to @miamilakeshotel.com. The Graham Company expects all changes to take effect immediately.
