One killed, three injured in Morgan Hill crash

MORGAN HILL — One person was killed and three others were injured in a crash Wednesday morning in Morgan Hill, police said.

The two-vehicle collision happened just before 6:10 a.m. at the intersection of Condit Road and Diana Avenue, the Morgan Hill Police Department said in a news release.

One person died from their injuries at the scene, police said, adding that three others were taken to area trauma centers “with varying degrees of injuries,” police said.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the person who died after it is confirmed and their next of kin is notified.

The crash is under investigation, but police said preliminary findings suggest that alcohol and drug impairment did not play a role.

“The department extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the decedent,” police said. “We remind all motorists to remain vigilant, wear seatbelts and exercise heightened caution at intersections, particularly during low-light, early morning hours.”

Bicyclist killed when motorist hits his rear tire in Rancho Peñasquitos

A 60-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle while riding his bicycle south of state Route 56 in Rancho Peñasquitos, authorities said Thursday.

The collision that killed the man happened around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday. A 51-year-old woman behind the wheel of a northbound 2019 Toyota Camry collided with the rear tire of the bicycle at 12900 Salmon River Road, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Police said the driver “did not see” the bicyclist. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Driving under the influence was not believed to be a factor in the collision, but officers with SDPD’s Traffic Division are investigating.

Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call the police or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

Antioch woman killed in hit-and-run crash

ANTIOCH – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run collision Thursday night in Antioch, police said.

The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Marie Avenue and East 18th Street, Antioch police Lt. Gary Lowther said in a news release. Officers arrived to find the victim down in the roadway.

Lowther said the victim, identified only as a 60-year-old Antioch woman, received medical aid but died at the scene.

The police department’s traffic unit is investigating the crash.

Motorcyclist killed in crash while reportedly lane splitting

LOS ALTOS HILLS – A motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries in a crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 280 in Los Altos Hills, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision happened around 5 p.m. in southbound lanes of the freeway at Page Mill Road, the CHP said in a news release.

An initial investigation indicated a 2013 Ducati motorcycle was “splitting traffic at a high rate of speed” when it crashed into the rear of a vehicle in the far left lane, according to the CHP. The rider was thrown onto the roadway and possibly hit by a white Dodge Ram.

The CHP said the motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries. He was not identified Wednesday.

The driver of the Dodge stopped at the scene, according to the CHP.

“The investigation into this incident is ongoing,” the CHP said in the news release.

Woman hit by bicyclist in San Jose dies of injuries

SAN JOSE – A woman died Tuesday of injuries she suffered last week in San Jose when she was hit by a man suspected of riding a bicycle under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.

The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 27 in the area of Ocala Avenue and Berona Way, near Hillview Park, according to San Jose police Sgt. Jorge Garibay.

Garibay said a man was riding a 16-speed Centurion bicycle westbound on Ocala Avenue in the bicycle lane when he hit a woman walking or jogging in the same direction and lane.

The woman was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and later stabilized, according to Garibay.

The man stopped at the scene. Garibay said he was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of DUI on a bicycle causing injury and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was not publicly identified Wednesday.

On Wednesday, police received word the woman had died a day earlier of her injuries, according to Garibay. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release her identity after it is confirmed and her next of kin is notified.

The death marked the 23rd traffic fatality of 2025 on city streets. Police had investigated 35 roadway deaths at this time last year.
