    There was a deputy-involved shooting Sunday night at NW 17th Avenue and NW 95 Street in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, according to the sheriff’s office.

    Due to police activity, NW 17th Avenue is closed from NW 95th to NW 103rd streets, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said in a news statement.

    “Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes,” the sheriff’s office said.

    The sheriff’s office said this information is preliminary and details about the incident may change.

  • Traffic alert: Fatal crash shuts down lanes on Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade

    Police on Monday morning have shut down northbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike Extension as they investigate a deadly crash.

    The lanes are closed at the turnpike’s southern point, just before mile marker 1, in Florida City and out of the Keys.

    A Miami-Dade medical examiner’s man was on the scene, and traffic reports indicated a body was on the highway.

    The crash was reported before 5 a.m. Monday. Fatal crashes usually take several hours to clear.

    Drivers should take U.S. 1 or Krome Avenue, and then head back onto the turnpike to continue north. Southbound lanes on the turnpike extension are open.

  • Water main break impacting traffic in southern Montgomery County

    A water main break is causing a traffic detour in Washington Township.

    The break was reported near the 800 block of Miamisburg-Centerville Road, according to a spokesperson for Montgomery County.

    Eastbound lanes have been closed between Paragon and McEwen Roads, Washington Township officials shared on social media.

    The county shared the following detours for drivers:

    • At McEwen Road, eastbound traffic will be detoured south on McEwen Road

    • From there, drivers will turn east onto W. Spring Valley Road

    • The detour continues north on Paragon Road, reconnecting with Miamisburg-Centerville Road

    Drivers should expect delays in the area.

    "The county thanks residents and commuters for their patience and cooperation while these necessary repairs are made," a county spokesperson said.
