Andrew Bird has announced a summer tour, with new dates added in Canada and the United States. Joan Shelley, Madison Cunningham, Ted Poor, and Uwade will join him at various stops, with a spring leg beginning on March 30. See all of the dates below.

Prior to his last year’s Inside Problems, Bird released These 13, a collaboration with the singer-songwriter Jimbo Mathus. The pair had previously worked together in the band Squirrel Nut Zippers, with Bird playing violin on the ensemble’s breakout 1996 album, Hot.

Nick Cave has announced a tour of North America. The composer and leader of the Bad Seeds, who released the spoken word work Seven Psalms last year, will perform at venues including the Beacon Theater in New York, Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre, and Massey Hall in Toronto. Accompanying Cave on bass guitar at the shows will be Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood. Find ticket information and the tour itinerary below.

Animal Collective’s Panda Bear and Spacemen 3’s Sonic Boom have announced their inaugural tour of U.S. shows together behind their collaborative album, Reset. The dates include three shows with Panda Bear’s “Step By Step” collaborators Braxe + Falcon in Washington D.C., Queens, New York, and Chicago. Then, they’ll perform at this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival on July 22.

Today, the duo has also shared a new Marcus O’Kane–directed video for the song “In My Body.” Watch it below.

Taylor Swift opener her Eras Tour at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, last night, giving several songs their live debuts in a mammoth three-hour set. In front of 70 thousand fans, she powered through a giant setlist that featured segments on each of her 10 albums while largely focusing on her recent work: Songs from Lover, Evermore, and Midnights got live debuts, and the set closed with an extended suite devoted to the latter. “Is it just me or do we have a lot of things to catch up on?” she teased the crowd, later adding, “To say that a lot of has happened is really an understatement. I can’t even go into how much I missed you because there’s no way to verbalize it.” See the full setlist (along with plenty of spoilers) below.

It is, indeed, Swift’s first full tour in five years. In that time, she has released four new albums—Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights—and unveiled full “Taylor’s Version”s of Fearless and Red, with more to come in that series. (On the eve of the tour opener, Swift released four more songs: three rerecorded loosies, plus a previously unreleased track.) She opened the show with a Lover suite, kicking off with a medley of “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince” (its live debut) and “Cruel Summer” while strutting around in a diamond onesie.

After changing into a country-singer getup and dressing the stage in era-appropriate decor, she segued into “Fearless” with an electric-guitar version of the title track, as Billboard notes. The Evermore segment included live debuts of “’Tis the Damn Season,” “Marjorie,” and “Tolerate It,” as well as a self-aware gag from Swift, who said the album is one that “I absolutely love—despite what some of you say on TikTok… I’ve seen it. I’ve seen all of it!” 

Portions of Reputation, Speak Now, Red, Folklore, 1989, and her self-titled debut followed, pinballing between intimacy and spectacle: acoustic renditions of “Mirrorball” and “Tim McGraw”; a video sequence that transformed Swift into “a Godzilla-esque creature terrorizing a city” (per Billboard) during “Anti-Hero”; swinging neon golf clubs attacking an animated car in “Blank Space”; and elaborate choreography throughout. Approaching the 200th-minute conclusion, a Midnights-themed finale showcased more than half of that 2022 album, including live debuts of “Lavender Haze” and the surprise set closer, fan favorite “Karma.”

The tour continues tonight with a second show at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, which has been ceremonially renamed Swift City for the occasion.

The Cure have announced a 2023 tour of North America. Find their Shows of a Lost World dates on the poster below. The schedule comes with three dates apiece at L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl and New York’s Madison Square Garden. Support on all dates comes from their longtime tourmates the Twilight Sad.

In recent years, Robert Smith has been teasing a Cure album, giving regular progress reports. In 2019, after being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (by Trent Reznor), Smith said, “If I’m optimistic it will be finished before the start of this summer.” The album still hasn’t materialized. 

The band’s last studio album was 2008’s 4:13 Dream. In recent years, Smith has collaborated with Gorillaz and remixed Chvrches, Deftones, and, just this week, Noel Gallagher. U2 announced an upcoming Las Vegas residency during the 2023 Super Bowl tonight in a new commercial. Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere will take place at the new MSG Sphere at the Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada this fall. Exact dates have not yet been revealed, but the band has shared a trailer announcing the news. U2 will be the first act to perform at the 17,500-seat venue when it opens after years of construction. The band teased the ad earlier this afternoon on social media. Check out U2’s trailer for the residency below.

Earlier in the night, a new rendition of U2’s Achtung Baby song “One” soundtracked the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year presentation. The song will appear on their upcoming album Songs of Surrender. Scroll down to listen to the new version.

The residency announcement comes with confirmation that drummer Larry Mullen Jr. will take time out to undergo and recuperate from surgery in 2023. Drummer Bram van den Berg will sit in for Mullen, joining Bono, the Edge, and Adam Clayton onstage at MSG Sphere.

“It‘s going to take all we’ve got to approach the Sphere without our bandmate in the drum seat, but Larry has joined us in welcoming Bram van den Berg who is a force in his own right,” Bono, the Edge, and Clayton said in a press release. They continued:

The Sphere show has been in the works for a long time. We don’t want to let people down, least of all our audience…the truth is we miss them as much as they appear to miss us…our audience was always the fifth member of the band. Bottom line, U2 hasn’t played live since December 2019 and we need to get back on stage and see the faces of our fans again. And what a unique stage they’re building for us out there in the desert…We’re the right band, Achtung Baby the right album, and the Sphere the right venue to take the live experience of music to the next level. That’s what U2’s been trying to do all along with our satellite stages and video installations, most memorably on the ZOO TV Tour, which ended in Tokyo 30 years ago this Fall. The Sphere is more than just a venue, it’s a gallery and U2’s music is going to be all over the walls.

Maryland rapper Redveil has announced a string of spring tour dates behind his 2022 LP Learn 2 Swim. The North American trek will kick off April 11 in Philadelphia, and then wind through Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, and more before wrapping up in New York City on May 20. Learn 2 Swim is the third album from the 18-year-old rapper and producer, who has been making music since he was 11. The breakout record includes the single “PG Baby” which recently got the remix treatment from Denzel Curry.

Lil Wayne has announced a spring tour that’ll take him through much of the United States, plus a stop in Toronto. His Welcome to Tha Carter Tour starts in Minneapolis at the beginning of April, wrapping up in Los Angeles in mid-May. Find all of the dates below.

After releasing his 13th album, Funeral, in 2020 and receiving a presidential pardon, Lil Wayne joined Rich the Kid for the collaborative release Trust Fund Babies in 2021. He’s made several other guest appearances on tracks by Latto and Run the Jewels, teaming up for more new material with Roddy Ricch, Polo G, and Calboy, too. He’s slated to receive a Global Impact Award from the Black Music Collective alongside Missy Elliott, Dr. Dre, and Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone, at the 2023 Grammys.

“Neil Young once howled that it’s better to burn out than to fade away. But I can tell you unequivocally that burning out is dreadful. Without divulging all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has rapidly deteriorated over the past several years.
