    Honey & Arts Festival to debut in Lealman as community grows

    LEALMAN, Fla. — Hopes of community redevelopment is bringing new festivals to St. Petersburg.

    The Pinellas County Housing Authority is working with engagement committees and a long list of sponsors to bring the first Lealman Honey and Arts Festival to the Tampa Bay area.

    “I’m very excited,” said Kym Solitaire, a St. Petersburg resident. “As a retired schoolteacher of Pinellas County, this area represents schools I’ve taught at. It’s a historically underserved area. This is a deserving acknowledgment of the community, the hard-working parents and great students that live here.”

    Raymond H. Neri Community Park will be hosting the inaugural festival on Saturday, Feb. 18. There will be several events such as local honey and beekeepers selling their wares, craft vendors, food trucks and chainsaw art. Local radio personality Monika from 102.5 The Bone will be broadcasting live. Local bands The Black Honkeys, La Lucha and Pink Streets will also be in attendance delivering live performances. 

    “Coming together to celebrate the rich history of Lealman has been a dream of mine,” said Pinellas County Commissioner Charlie Justice. “The Honey and Arts Festival represents the dedication of many in the community working together to transform Lealman into a vibrant destination, a place where people can live, work and play.” 

    People from all over the nation are coming to support the festival, like chainsaw art cultivator, Alex Bieniecki. He traveled from New Hampshire to perform at the festival on Saturday.

    “I’ve been a tattoo artist for 22 years,” said Bieniecki. “Right out of high school, I was doing that so artistically. That was my training in the art world, all the different things they liked to do rounded me out as an artist.”

    Bieniecki said he’s been a woodsman for over a decade.

    “Normally, I work with white pine,” he said. “It’s light compared to other species of wood. This stuff has more sap in it, more than any I’ve worked with before.”

    Bieniecki was carving an image of a woman with Florida sand pine Wednesday.

    “I drove up to West Palm Beach for this wood. I cut the tree down from their yard for this,” said Bieniecki. “Some of these pieces take more than 40 hours to complete. I started this on Monday of last week and I worked on it every day until Thursday. 10-hour days, 10 hours of sanding,” said Bieniecki.

    What was once a hobby for Bieniecki, turned into a stream of income.

    “People love wood carvings. My whole world opened up to people I would have never tattooed. I have a lot of fun doing them because it’s like drawing and painting and carving. It’s two-dimensional but also three-dimensional and you get to paint it, so I really enjoy,” he said.

    You see, gumbo in the style Chef Ja’Vin LeCount speaks of requires collards.

    LeCount is in the garden at Daystar Life Center in St. Petersburg, gathering his leafy greens.

    LeCount’s addition of collard greens in his Cajun dish helped to crown him a top chef for the 2023 Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival.

    “This is something I love to do,” he said as he began chopping his collards into ribbons.

    “For a thicker ribbon you would want to go for maybe like a thicker texture,” LeCount explained. “For a thinner ribbon, you may want to cook your greens a bit faster.”

    The festival isn’t just for young chefs like LeCount.

    It’s for the greater St. Pete community, too.

    “Our mission is to promote healthier living in our communities through foods we love to grow and eat,” said festival co-found Boyzel Hosey, “through agricultural sciences, the culinary experience, fitness, nutrition and family fun.”

    For LeCount, this honor reinforces something he’s enjoyed his whole life — creating smiles through his culinary creativity.

    “I’ve got a lot of good reactions from these collard greens,” said LeCount. “And really a lot of people told me I need to share this with the world, so I want to share this with as many people as I can at the event.”

    Lecount, who turned 17 this month, has been cooking as long as he can remember, and has spent the last seven months as a chef.

    The Prince Private Academy student would like to thank his family, Junior Chefs of America and the American Culinary Federation.

    Ex-Lakers star Trevor Ariza’s estranged wife has rushed to court pleading for a restraining order against the father of her two children, RadarOnline.com has learned.

    According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Bree Anderson Ariza filed a petition for a protective order against Trevor. She wants him ordered to stay away from her and not contact her, claiming she fears for her safety.

    She wants the judge to order Trevor to not be allowed inside her home. Further, she wants sole custody awarded to her with the NBA star having supervised visitation.

    In the restraining order petition, Bree said that during their marriage, Trevor “engaged in acts of extreme physical abuse towards me.”

    “He was verbally and emotionally abusive to me. Some of the abuse occurred in the presence of our children,” she said.

    “I have been financially dependent on Trevor throughout our marriage,” she explained as to why she stayed until she had the courage to leave. She said she hoped filing for divorce would put an end to the alleged abuse but she said it hasn’t.

    However, she said Trevor has continued and called her a “h—” and a “b—-” in front of their children and says he “threatens me on a regular basis.”

    She said Trevor lives half a mile away which makes her uncomfortable. Bree said he has entered her home without her knowledge, “as he thinks he has the right to come and go from my residence as he pleases.”

    She said at one point he threatened to change the locks and leave her homeless if she didn’t obey all of his directives. Bree said Trevor is still refusing to pay her child support and has threatened to take away the kids.

    In the petition, she detailed an alleged incident in August 2021 where she said Trevor showed up at her home. Bree said he was “very angry” and demanded she turns over her cell phone. She refused.

    Bree claims he threw her on the bed and started choking her but let go right before she passed out. She accuses Trevor of having punched her with a closed fist and then continuing to punch her multiple times.

    Bree said another incident went down on February 17, 2020, where Trevor allegedly choked her until she passed out. “He immediately grabbed me by the throat and started choking me until I was unconscious.”

    She pointed to a September 9, 2020 text that Trevor allegedly sent her that read, “Me putting my hands on you has cause me to feel like I’m nothing.”

    Bree said, “I strongly believe that Trevor’s physical, verbal, and emotional abuse warrants a” protective order.

    Bree included several photos of her injuries from Trevor’s alleged acts as part of her request.

    As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Trevor and his estranged wife Bree have been fighting in court for months.

    Last year, Bree filed for divorce from Trevor after four years of marriage. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

    Bree listed the date of marriage as April 2018 and the date of separation as “TBD”. The two dated for years before getting hitched.

    Bree demanded primary physical custody of their two kids and asked that Trevor receive visitation. She requested temporary child and spousal support from the NBA star.

    In response, Trevor demanded joint physical and legal custody of their kids. He asked the court to terminate Bree’s right to spousal support. The case is ongoing.

    Long gone are the days of fancy china. RadarOnline.com can reveal the ex-Bravolebrity will be handed breakfast in a brown bag, which will include an individual oatmeal packet, one breakfast cake, and fruit. She will also get two packets of jelly to spread on her wheat bread.

    However, her lunch will be interesting — considering the atmosphere.

    We’re told Shah will fuel up on a breaded fish taco with a slew of sides, like slaw, rice, and pinto beans, for her afternoon meal. If indulging in tacos is too much for the newbie prisoner, RadarOnline.com has learned the convicted fraudster will be served an alternate option of baked fish and hummus.

    Shah’s last first-day meal will be a chicken cheese steak sandwich or three-bean salad. She’ll also get a side of Italian pasta salad and carrots.

    The reality star-turned-prisoner will also get a whole wheat hot dog bun — without the sausage — as the carb for her well-balanced dinner.

    TAMPA BAY, Fla — Fred Hearns isn’t just the first Curator of Black History in Tampa. He’s the first Curator there to end up in an upcoming exhibition.

    Hearns is working on the summer exhibition– “Travails and Triumphs,” about people of African descent in the Tampa Bay area.

    One of the donated pieces in the exhibition is a 1960s yearbook for Middleton High School—where Hearns went to school himself. He pointed out his picture in the marching band—he played clarinet—and his individual school picture as a sophomore.

    “We focus on the black high schools,” said Hearns, “Segregation from kindergarten all the way through high school. That’s the Tampa I grew up with in the 1960s.”

    A curator at the History Center now for nearly two years, it was nearly two months before Hearns realized his own history in his office hallway.

    “These are the blueprints for the colored high school in Hillsborough County, 1935,” said Hearns, reading off the titles on the framed piece of history. Again–it’s Middleton High School A high school which burned down three times by 1968.

    Their newer campus– built in 2002 –sits three blocks from the original site on North 22nd Street in Tampa. The former high school is now home to another. Hearns leads us from downtown Tampa to the campus for a look.

    “This is a wonderful dream come true because the Alumni Association fought for 10 long years to get Middleton High School rebuilt,” Hearns explained, walking under the shade of oak trees in the school’s courtyard.

    For his part in the fight for the school—Hearns’ name is on it. “The ‘Fred Hearns Pavilion’ that’s right outside the cafeteria,” said Hearns, walking by it. “The alumni, the community paid me this honor. I’m still humbled by it.”

    And now his work bringing the Tampa Bay community together continues–fitting for the retired head of the Community Affairs for the City of Tampa. Different career, same goal.

    “It’s history. American history made by black people, and everybody needs to know more of it,” said Hearns.

    TAMPA, Fla. — If you’d like to learn to fly in ballet, then you start from the ground — getting on your rehearsal soft shoes.

    Brandon Ballet’s Courtney Moody is getting ready for rehearsal on the studio floor before heading to the barre.

    “We do lots of different stretches, lots of things to get warm, get moving,” she said.

    If the stretches look easy for Moody, it’s because she’s been a ballerina for about two decades and helps teach it now, too. 

    “I’m so grateful to have that opportunity to continue doing this as a career,” said Moody.

    In addition to excerpts from Swan Lake, they have something brand new to offer.

    “This is a new ballet called the Iron Flower,” said Brent Townend, the Ballet’s Assistant Artistic Director. “We are premiering a 15-minute excerpt.”

    As an artist, Moody says she is moved by the story of the dance.

    “It’s very important to me to have that is somewhat near my hometown where I can continue to dance and share this art form with others,” said Moody.

    The record producer and beatmaker (real name: Dijon Isaiah McFarlane) claimed his ex is making the divorce process difficult while he continues to foot the bill for several of her living expenses, as well as costs related to their three children.

    In his latest filing, Mustard seeks joint legal and physical custody of his minor children, including having equal rights to make important educational and medical decisions.

    The chart-topping musician stated he is willing to pay the agreed-upon child support amount of $18,342 a month, as reported by The Blast, but has already been quite generous after filing for divorce last May.

    It was recently learned that Thierry demanded more than $80k per month in child support.

    “Chanel’s claim that I have starved her out financially since separation is a flat-out lie,” his filing read.

    Thierry, for her part, disputed ever saying that he starved her out financially in a prior court filing obtained by RadarOnline.com.

    “I cannot control what the media outlets pull from my social media page and what they infer from my writings,” she stated, adding that she had since been “more cautious” about what she posts on the advice of her attorney.

    Thierry said that she and Mustard went to mediation in January 2023, alleging that it’s been “extremely difficult” getting him to agree to anything “that would benefit the children and not himself.”

    Thierry assessed this makes her believe it is of “utmost importance” that she be awarded “tie-breaking authority” when it comes to the health and education decisions of their minor children, adding that she contributes financially where and when she can.

    Mustard, on the other hand, said he’s been going above and beyond.

    “From the time Chanel and I separated in May 2022, I continued to uphold my obligation to support her and the children. I continued to pay all of Chanel’s living expenses, including all of her credit card bills. I also continued paying Chanel’s housing costs and the children’s expenses including private school tuition.”

    Mustard said he’s also continued funding their kids’ educational, medical, and extra-curricular expenses along with voluntary child support.

    “Finally, I have also paid 100 percent of our agreed-upon spousal support buy-out of $315,000 in accordance with the terms of the Premarital Agreement,” the Want Her hitmaker added.

    Plus, Mustard claimed he’s also paid more than $2k a month for Chanel’s Lamborghini SUV.

Though Melanie hasn’t addressed the speculation, an insider spilled, “She’s had some issues with skin cancer in the not-too-distant past, and people around her worry she had a recurrence that required more surgery.

    The aging Working Girl actress has had multiple surgeries since 2009 for skin cancers, and five years ago, she was spotted with a bandage on her nose after getting a procedure to remove a dangerous growth.

    Florida-based Dr. Gabe Mirkin, who hasn’t treated Melanie, said, “The odds are overwhelming that this type of surgery was for a skin cancer.”

    He explained basal cell skin cancers, which are usually curable, account for 95 percent of all cases of the condition and can be easy for a surgeon to remove in the disease’s early stage when growths are solely on the surface.

    However, Mirkin warned, “When the skin cancer is around the ears, the nose, the eyes and the mouth, the cancer can burrow underneath the skin, so more surgery is necessary.

    “The rule is to keep on cutting until you find no more skin cancer in the specimens removed. So, this was an extensive surgery,” he claimed.

    “If this were a squamous cell carcinoma — a different type of cancer, which is less common — it is acceptable to keep on cutting until you find that you have completely normal skin 360 degrees around it.”

    In the past, Melanie has urged fans to protect themselves from UV rays.

    “If you lay in the sun, are exposed to lots of sun, be CAREFUL. Use sunscreen. Get checked out by your dermatologist,” she stated.

    Melanie is only 65 years old. She has three kids — daughters including actress Dakota Johnson, 33, Stella Banderas, 26, and son Alexander Bauer, 37.

    Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders evaded questions about whether or not she will be endorsing former president Donald Trump‘s 2024 run, RadarOnline.com has learned.

    The politician, who previously served as the Trump White House Press Secretary from 2017 to 2019, spoke highly of him but did not reveal if she is planning to throw her support behind him after he endorsed Sanders for her gubernatorial run.

    “I love the President, have a great relationship with him. I know our country would be infinitely better off if he was in office right now instead of Joe Biden but right now my focus isn’t 2024,” Sanders told Shannon Bream during an interview on Fox News.

    “I’m not really focused on that at all, but focused on what we can do to impact change and deliver on the promises we made during the campaign season here in Arkansas,” continued Sanders, prompting the anchor to ask for a timeline on her final decision.

    Bream inquired, “Do you want to see who else gets into the primary? Will you wait for the nominee?”

    Sanders said that she is only focused on what she can accomplish as the 47th governor of Arkansas and the state’s first female governor, keeping tight-lipped on Trump for now.

    She further clarified, “[My focus is] on what we can deliver in this legislative session. I’m not going to set an arbitrary timeline. I’m not really focused on that at all.”

    Sanders later dodged questions on if she is “auditioning for vice president” — for either Trump or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

    Sanders was sworn in last week, taking a seat that her father, Mike Huckabee, once held.

    “A turning point in the history of Arkansas will usher in a new era of good jobs, great schools, safer streets and stronger families,” Sanders said during a 15-minute speech. “The people of Arkansas, in their vast wisdom, have entrusted a new generation to lead. This is our moment. This is our opportunity.”

    According to sources close to the couple, the two are talking about walking down the aisle after they hash out settlements in court with their exes.

    A source said Amy is close to wrapping up her agreement with soon-to-be ex-husband Andrew Shue and is encouraging T.J. to push through his divorce from Marilee Fiebig.

    “She wants him free so they can get married and prove to everyone how serious their relationship is,” said the source. After sneaking around for months, the insider added, “they’re relieved it’s all out in the open now.”

    Further, sources said Amy, 49, is worth an estimated $50 million and has no problem supporting TJ if he has to part with most of his fortune in his divorce. “She wants their divorces over and done with,” said the insider.

    Another insider said, “They’re happy and in love. Amy and T.J.’s attitude is to hell with anyone who stands in their way!”

    As RadarOnline.com, ABC continues to investigate T.J. and Amy’s romance. The network wants to determine if any company policies were violated with the relationship. The two have been off the air for weeks with no update from bosses.

    The two have lawyered up and appear ready for a legal battle if ABC decides to terminate their contracts.

    As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Holmes’ estranged wife recently spoke out trashing her ex. Her lawyer said, “During the holiday season and in light of the challenging times, Marilee’s sole focus has remained on the overall best interest of her 9-year-old daughter.”

    “To that end T.J.’s lawyer and I have been working together to move their divorce forward privately, expeditiously and as amicably as possible,” the attorney added. “Notwithstanding, we continue to be disappointed by T.J’s lack of discretion, respect and sensitivity toward Marilee and the party’s daughter.”

    Earlier this month, Holmes filed for divorce but Fiebig has yet to respond.
