Michael Jackson’s Mom Katherine Shut Down In Court Battle With Pop Star’s Estate Over Secret Deal

    [ad_1]

Michael Jackson’s 92-year-old mother Katherine was shut down in her attempt to block a proposed deal from her late son’s estate, RadarOnline.com has learned.

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, this week, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled that the estate, run by executors John Branca and John McClain, can move forward with the transaction.

The order stated, “The proposed transaction is approved and the executors are authorized and instructed to take all actions necessary to implement the proposed transaction, including but not limited to signing all contracts and performing all obligations required of the estate.”

Katherine had testified in court explaining the reasoning behind her fighting the deal.

The beneficiaries of Michael’s estate are his three children Prince, Paris, and Blanket. In his will, Michael added a provision that also provided support to his mother for the remainder of her life.

Katherine opposed the deal presented but kept her argument under seal.

In response, the executors argued they knew what they were doing. McClain and Branca said they took Michael’s estate from the “verge of collapse” to being incredibly profitable.

“The Estate was teetering on the verge of collapse, with more than $400 million in debt that encumbered Michael’s most significant assets and little or no liquidity or means to service that debt. Through creative thinking, hard work and business savvy—and, of course, Michael’s extraordinary creative legacy—the Executors transformed the MJJ Business into a profitable enterprise,” the executors said in court documents.

Branca and McClain even accused Katherine of having objected to the 2009 documentary This Is It, which ended up becoming the highest-grossing concert documentary in history and brought in millions to the estate.

Prior to the hearing, the executors pointed out that Michael’s kids had not objected to the proposed deal.

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Katherine has filed an appeal of the decision — an indication the fight is far from over.

“Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in,” the 64-year-old wrote on Instagram, adding, “I have never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I’m not going to start!”

However, sources said with her upcoming tour set to kick off in July, the Vogue singer, known for continually reinventing herself, is reassessing her face.

“Madonna’s hinted she wants more natural look and might be willing to get some of the fillers dissolved to speed up the process,” said an insider. “She’s desperate to undo some of the fillers and work she’s had done before she embarks on her tour.”

“Her plan is to slowly dissolve some of the fillers and gets some nips and tucks to rejuvenate her face,” said the second source, adding, “She doesn’t want it to be too sudden or people will notice.”

Despite their public feuds, Lemon and Carlson now have something in common: both were recently fired from their jobs on the same day, April 21.

The former Fox News host was booted from the network just one week after Rupert Murdoch paid $787.5 million to settle the

  • Texas Shooter On the Run After Killing 8-Year-Old Boy and 4 Others ‘Execution Style’ with an AR-15

Texas Shooter On the Run After Killing 8-Year-Old Boy and 4 Others ‘Execution Style’ with an AR-15

    [ad_1]

Five people were killed “execution style” in a Texas home by a suspect armed with an AR-15 style rifle, RadarOnline.com has learned.

The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office received a harassment call from Cleveland, a small town 55 miles north of Houston, Texas. The shooting took place at around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28.

Authorities arrived at the home only to find the horrific crime had taken place. Five victims — two women, two men and an 8-year-old boy — were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two female victims were found in the bedroom lying on top of two children who survived the horrific shooting. Three minors were also reportedly discovered, uninjured but covered in blood.

The local police told outlets the massacre occurred after neighbors asked the suspect to stop “shooting his gun” in the front yard because their baby was trying to sleep.

San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers told ABC’s KTRK Houston News, “[The suspect] had been drinking, and he said, ‘I’ll do what I want to in my front yard.’”

Dispatchers were able to confirm that the shooter was “intoxicated.”

According to the Sheriff, a number of the victims died attempting to shield their children from the attack.

“In my opinion, they were actually trying to take care of the babies and keep them babies alive,” he told the outlet. “Everybody that was shot was shot from the neck up almost execution style, basically in the head.”

The currently unnamed suspect is described as a Hispanic male armed with an AR-15. Police say he’s approximately five foot eight inches tall and was last seen with short black hair wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and work boots.

Capers refused to reveal the suspect’s identity but told outlets, “We are getting closer to him every minute of every hour, but we know who he is.”

Veronica Pineda, a nearby resident, also spoke with KTRK, claiming she’s grown accustomed to neighbors shooting firearms in the area.

“There’s always shootings, there’s always shooting,” she told the outlet. “There’s always people calling the cops, and there’s nothing being done.”

She described how she was in bed when her kids heard the shooting happen. “I have two babies — they got scared, and we’re like, ‘it’s normal they’re always shooting.’”

The mother said she didn’t know the alleged shooter, but would see him when he rode his horses down the road.

April 29 (UPI) — The Minnesota state Senate voted to approve marijuana legalization in a historic vote held Friday, paving the way for recreational sales in the state.

The bill passed 34-33 along party lines, with all Democrats voting in favor of the law and all Republicans voting against it. The state House, also controlled by Democrats, passed its marijuana legalization measure on Tuesday.

While both bills allow adults over 21 to purchase up to two ounces of cannabis for recreational use, they have inconsistencies on tax issues and the status of marijuana possession at private residences.

The Senate bill imposes a 10% tax on recreational marijuana products while the House bill calls for an 8% gross receipt tax over four years.

Additionally, the Senate bill lets cities choose how many legal dispensaries they will allow in their jurisdiction, while the House bill does not.

The Senate bill allows people to possess up to two pounds of purchased marijuana at their homes and up to five pounds of cultivated marijuana, while the House bill has a standardized limit of 1.5 pounds.

Those differences will have to be ironed out to create a single bill that can be signed into law by Gov. Tim Walz, who supports the measures.

The bill would automatically expunge misdemeanor…

World Tai Chi Day celebration about relieving stress, achieving balance

    [ad_1]

SARASOTA, Fla. — As we prepare to enter Asian American and Pacific Islanders Awareness Month, there is a free Tai Chi demonstration at the city recreation center in Bradenton.

We met Brian Nell at Cypress Pillar Healing Arts.

“This is a fantastic little healing center in Sarasota,” he said. “And we are in our indoor movement space.”

The space is devoted to bringing the ancient Chinese martial art Tai Chi to masses.

The World Tai Chi Day celebration at G.T. Bray Recreation Center in Bradenton is part of their mission.

Nell starts with a meditation to get bodies aligned and minds in tune.

He says it’s how to combat stress.

“But now we must honestly look at ourselves, find where we hid it and teach ourselves to relax,” Nell said.

“So I actually was introduced to Tai Chi when I was 17 years-old at a seminar,” he said. “And as a 17-year-old practicing jiujitsu, that’s the last thing you want is to move slow, but it planted a seed.”

After a serious back injury, Nell turned to Tai Chi.

“And as a direct result was able to overcome those injuries and realized this was something I wanted to pass on,” he said.

“Balance is a big one, especially as we get older. This becomes a depreciable skill,” Nell said. “So the more that we train the body, the better off we are in the long run.”

World Tai Chi demonstrations are happening Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is free.

  • Come to Jeep Beach 2023 for fun, and ticket to win one helps community

Come to Jeep Beach 2023 for fun, and ticket to win one helps community

    [ad_1]

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Jeep Beach 2023, the world’s largest Jeep event, wraps up its 20th year this weekend in Daytona Beach.

    What You Need To Know

    • Sunday is the last day for Jeep Beach 2023 in Daytona Beach
    • The event features obstacle courses, vendors, concerts, food and activities for kids
    • A Jeep Beach parade will be held right on Daytona Beach on Sunday
    • As part of the event, tickets can be purchased to win a drawing for a new Jeep

The event is dedicated to all things Jeep, with obstacles courses to cruise through, concerts, vendors selling industry merchandise, all kinds of food and drink, activities to keep children busy and a Jeep Beach parade Sunday on Daytona Beach.

Jeep Beach 2023 activities will continue through Sunday in Daytona Beach. (Spectrum News/Joh Ficurilli)

Everett Flaitz, an electrician and Jeep enthusiast who last year won the iconic event’s drawing for a new Wrangler, calls Port Orange home after moving to Volusia County five years ago from Ohio.

“We love the warm weather, the beaches and — uh, uh — we don’t have to worry about shoveling snow,” Flaitz said as he cruised in his Wrangler, Jeep’s most popular model.

Flaitz bought a ticket, didn’t think anything of it, and then he heard the words, “You are the winner!”

“I’ve never won anything in my life — so it’s incredible we won this,” said Flaitz, who had purchased another Jeep for his wife just before they won in 2022.

    Now they have two Jeeps.

It’s not just “a” car to get from Point “A” to Point “B,” he said.

“You can just use them on the beach, go off-roading or just drive ‘em around as your everyday vehicle,” Flaitz said.

So, how exactly did he enter to win? He bought a $50 ticket.

What’s most rewarding to Flaitz is knowing the proceeds from the drawing stay local.

“That $50 you spend to win the Jeep, it goes to charity,” he said as he drove his yellow Jeep on the powdery sands of Daytona Beach.

Jeep Beach organizers’ goal this year is to give away $1 million to charities in Volusia and Flagler counties. The funds raised go to programs, not overhead costs, they said.

It’s not too late to get in on this year’s drawing on Saturday. The $50 ticket for a shot at this event’s Jeep can be purchased online.

The 2023 Jeep being given away this year is a flamboyant red called “punk’n,” and it comes with special Jeep Beach badging that pays homage to Daytona International Speedway and the 20th anniversary of Jeep Beach.

It also comes with a trailer from tinycampers.com that is fully equipped, with features such as a kitchen, a TV and creature comforts inside. Its roof extends to an A-frame, so you can put the children on top and mom and dad on the bottom during off-road adventures.

Mainsail Art Festival offers marquis event at St. Pete’s Vinoy Park

    GULFPORT, Fla. — Picture it.

    What You Need To Know

    • The Mainsail Art Festival is coming up at Vinoy Park, St. Pete
    • Saturday, April 22 hours: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
    • Sunday, April 23 hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Saturday, May 20, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Dawn Waters Open House at DRV Gallery, Gulfport

    St. Petersburg, Florida.

    1976.

The city threw its first Mainsail Art Show to mark the country’s bi-centennial celebrations.

And that show continues nearly 50 years later — one of the biggest festivals of its kind in the country. More than 100,00 people are expected.

This weekend Vinoy Park will once again be packed with creators and their works.

That includes Fiber artist Dawn Waters.

We caught up with her in her Gulfport studio, and she showed us her first ever felt art.

    It was her dog Chico.

And she even added a few wisps of felt around one of Chico’s eyes to show how felting is done.

She placed it and poked it until the felt blended into the lower rim of one of Chico’s eyelids.

“It’s like tattooing but with wool,” Waters explained. “You just keep poking until the face you want emerges.”

A former advertising and communications executive, Dawn Waters has been a fiber artist for about six years.

Waters is working toward this weekend’s 48th Mainsail Art Festival at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg.

It’s where more than 100,000 visitors will stroll the aisles of creators and their many works.

“That is a huge deal, a huge art show,” Waters said.

Art shows are how she meets her potential audience.

That’s why getting accepted to show into Mainsail is so clutch for Waters.

“My work when you see a picture of it, it doesn’t really convey the conventional and tactile nature of it,” Waters explained.

When people realize there is no paint in these portraits, they come closer to understand. Their reactions let Waters know she’s created something they connect to too.

“They always want to touch it,” she says, of curious adults.

But she asks please to touch with your eyeballs.

Waters is having an open house at her studio in DRV Gallery at 5401 Gulfport Boulevard.

    The date is Saturday, May 20, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Spectrum Bay News 9 is one of the Mainsail Art Festival sponsors.

RUSKIN, Fla. — Indie Horror movie lovers rejoice!

The time has come for the Tampa Bay Scream Horror Convention, April 14-15 in Tampa.

    What You Need To Know

    • Tampa Bay Scream Horror Convention is coming up soon
    • It will be at the Holiday Inn Westshore Airport Location
    • Friday, April 14, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.
    • Saturday, April 15, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

It’s courtesy of organizer Sean Donohue, describing the Indie horror scene for fans.

“They can expect to see their favorite cult horror film stars. They can buy movies, posters T-shirts, they can take pictures,” said Donohue.

One of the actors making an appearance is Tampa’s very own Joel Wynkoop.

We caught up with him at a shoot location somewhere in the Ruskin woods. Wynkoop is making a feature length film of his 20-minute doomsday time travel apocalypse short “187 Times.”

He says making movies is like a force of will.

“Nothing is stopping anybody. People go, like, ‘It costs a lot of money to make a movie.’ Just throw some money together and make a move. It’s not that tough,” said Wynkoop.

Wynkoop gets a lot of things done, thanks to tight connections — like producer actor director Sean Donohue and fellow filmmaker and wife Cathy Wynkoop.

“She’s an executive producer. She’s also my associate producer, my script supervisor, and she’s always with me,” says Joel Wynkoop of his wife.

He’s maintained his movie making furor for decades by creating his own opportunities.

“Well, way back when I really started, my agent wasn’t getting me a lot of work, so I was, like, ‘You know what you have to make lemonade out of lemons. I’ll start making my own movies and I’ll do what I want. I’ll star myself. I’ll get my own actors. I’ll do the casting.’”

    And he did.

    He does.

And “187 Times” comes out later in 2023.

The Washingtonian found an almost decade-old article from Dallas Morning News recounting a tour through Crow’s Dallas mansion. The report revealed the Republican donor’s historical collection, including many Nazi-era German artifacts and a copy of Mein Kampf signed by Adolf Hitler.

Crow’s collection room also featured a number of paintings from the leader of the Third Reich hanging on the walls.

The 71-year-old billionaire also had a “Garden of Evil” in his backyard, featuring statues of infamous dictators throughout history, such as Nicolae Ceausescu, Josip Broz Tito, Joseph Stalin and Vladimir Lenin.

Although he was reluctant to discuss the collection of statues, he clarified that he didn’t commission the statues to be made. They were all actual monuments from the dictator’s home countries. He came into possession of them through various auctions and donations.

Crow told the news outlet that he constructed the garden to display “man’s inhumanity to man.”

The historical collection also included several items from American history, including letters and documents signed by George Washington and Christopher Columbus, but a visitor of Crow’s home told the paper, “I still can’t get over the collection of Nazi memorabilia.”

As RadarOnline reported, an investigation was launched against Thomas after he failed to disclose a number of luxury vacations and other amenities secretly provided to him by a billionaire GOP donor.

ProPublica said these vacations included Thomas joining Crow “to the Bohemian Grove, the exclusive California all-male retreat, and to Crow’s sprawling ranch in East Texas.”

It’s unclear whether the Supreme Court Justice knew of his friend’s historical collection. Thomas has yet to comment on the recent investigation regarding him and his generous donor. Still, in a recent documentary funded by Crow himself, the judge said that he didn’t care for being around the same lavish lifestyle his friend did.

“I come from regular stock, and I prefer that,” Thomas said in the doc. “I prefer being around that.”

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, 77-year-old Priscilla and 33-year-old Riley have become estranged as they fight for power.

Weeks after Lisa Marie’s death, Priscilla rushed to court demanding she is named co-trustee of her late daughter’s trust. She claimed Lisa Marie had appointed her and her ex-manager Barry Siegel as heads of the trust.

As we first reported, Lisa Marie died with $3-$4 million in debt but had life insurance policies totaling $35 million. The beneficiaries of Lisa Marie’s estate are Riley and her younger twins, Harper and Finley.

Priscilla demanded an alleged 2016 amendment to the trust not be enforced. The amendment removed Priscilla as co-trustee and placed Riley in full control.

Sources claim Riley has become upset with her “cruel” grandmother’s moves for power. Another insider said the actress is not pleased Priscilla has become close with Lisa Marie’s ex-husband Michael Lockwood, who is the father to the twins.

Riley has yet to respond in court.

Sources claimed Travolta has been calling for a truce between Priscilla and Riley. “John has been a part of the family for going on 50 years and he wants to be a peacemaker,” said the insider.

“Lisa Marie’s death was tragic enough without having it tear the family apart!” the source added. After meeting Priscilla in 1975, John mentored her as she joined the Church of Scientology two years later – and the two were also briefly romantically linked, sources claimed.

Lisa Marie always considered the Grease icon part of the family — even after she left the controversial religion in 2012.

The insider said Travolta feels “like it’s his duty” to fix the family drama. “John has been on the phone with Riley, on the phone with Priscilla, not only talking about Lisa Marie, but what she would have wanted.”

“He knows things were frosty between Priscilla and Lisa Marie at the end, but he tells the surviving Presley women they need each other to get through these dark times,” said the source.
