  • The Disney Destiny offers Sweet Suites

There are rooms aboard the Disney Destiny, the latest addition to Disney’s cruise fleet, and then there are suites. To say the following residential experiences are just rooms on a cruise ship would be the precise definition of understatement. To be more precise, here is the exact Merriam-Webster’s definition of an understatement: a statement that represents something as smaller, less intense, or less important than it really is, or the act of making such a statement; a statement that understates something.

The Tower Suite and the Hero Suite inside the Disney Destiny are special in their own right. Both suites will provide guests with unique living quarters.

The Tower Suite has four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, and an unbelievable view. Located in a funnel of the ship, the entrance is off the beaten path from guest traffic. And that is the point. Upon entering the suite, a brief climb up two short staircases opens up to a Tony Stark-themed kitchen and living room. Photos of Iron Man adorn the suite, and an Iron Man helmet rests on a shelf in the dining room.

The Hero Suite, located on the 13th deck of the Disney Destiny, also offers a unique vacation experience. There’s an outdoor hot tub, equally impressive views, a large kitchen, and a spacious living room. The dining table is made of marble and gives off a luxurious vibe akin to what the Greek Gods might eat at if they were staying aboard the newest Disney cruise ship.

  • What to Stream: Vanessa Kirby, Maroon 5, Madden NFL 26, Alicia Silverstone and ‘The Chicken Sisters’

    [ad_1]

Vanessa Kirby starring in a gritty film about the aspirations of home ownership, “Night Always Comes,” and Maroon 5 releasing their eighth studio album with songs featuring Lil Wayne and Blackpink’s LISA are some of the new television, films, music and games headed to a device near you.

Also among the streaming offerings worth your time, as selected by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists: Alicia Silverstone leading a new TV crime drama called “Irish Blood.,” the multigenerational, wholesome drama “The Chicken Sisters” rolls out its second season on Hallmark and EA Sports jumps aboard the artificial intelligence bandwagon with Madden NFL 26.

New movies to stream from Aug. 11-17

    — Isaiah Saxon’s “The Legend of Ochi” (streaming Friday on HBO Max) is a handcrafted fantasy throwback seeking to conjure the kind of magic once found in movies like “The Never Ending Story.” The A24 film stars Helena Zengel as Yuri, a girl who runs away from the forest home she shared with her father (Willem Dafoe) and brother (Finn Wolfhard). She leaves with a baby Ochi, a creature hunted by her father. In her review, AP Film Writer Lindsey Bahr wrote that “The Legend of Ochi” “has the feeling of a film you might have stumbled on and loved as a kid.”

    — Vanessa Kirby may be one of the standout performers of the summer blockbuster “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” but she also stars in a gritty new film about the aspirations of home ownership. In “Night Always Comes” (Thursday on Netflix), Kirby plays a woman going to extreme lengths to secure a home for her family. The movie, directed by Benjamin Caron and adapted from Willy Vlautin’s best-selling novel, takes place over a single night.

New music to stream from Aug. 11-17

    — Maroon 5 will release their eighth studio album, “Love is Like,” on Friday via Interscope Records. Expect smooth, funky pop music — like the sultry “All Night.” Singer Adam Levine and Co. continue their trend of unexpected and delightful collaborations as well, with songs featuring Lil Wayne, Sexyy Red and Blackpink’s LISA. You read that correctly.

    — Clifford Antone opened Antone’s, one of the most storied music venues in Austin, Texas, with an inaugural performance by the King of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier in 1975. In the decades since, Antone’s has become the stuff of mythology; a performance space that embraces its history and looks towards its future. A new box set out Friday from New West Records seeks to celebrate Antone’s legacy with “Antone’s: 50 Years of the Blues.”

New series to stream from Aug. 11-17

    — The multigenerational, wholesome drama “The Chicken Sisters” rolls out its second season on Hallmark. The series stars Schuyler Fisk, Lea Thompson, Wendie Malick and Genevieve Angelson as family members in a small town divided over their rival fried chicken businesses. It’s based on a novel of the same name. The series streams new episodes beginning Monday on Hallmark+.

    — Alicia Silverstone leads the new crime drama called “Irish Blood.” She plays Fiona, a woman who has been led to believe her father abandoned her as a child — and has carried around some heavy emotional baggage ever since. When she learns the truth is more complicated — not to mention dangerous — she heads to Ireland to investigate. The premiere of the six-part show drops Monday on Acorn TV.

    — A new one for the kiddos is the Disney Jr. series “Iron Man and his Awesome Friends,” coming to Disney+. The first 10 episodes drop Tuesday. The show follows besties and fellow geniuses, Tony Stark, Riri Williams and Amadeus Cho, who team up to solve problems.

Chris Hemsworth continues his quest to live a healthier, more present, and longer life in a second season of “Limitless,” now called “Limitless: Live Better Now.” The three-part docuseries sees Hemsworth learn more about brain power (with help from his friend and recording artist Ed Sheeran), risk and pain. The three episodes stream on Hulu and Disney+ beginning Friday.

    Alicia Rancilio

New video games to play from Aug. 11-17

    — EA Sports is jumping aboard the artificial intelligence bandwagon with Madden NFL 26, promising “a new AI-powered machine learning system trained by real play calls and game situations over nearly a decade.” The most intriguing additions are QB DNA and Coach DNA — so, for example, if you’re playing the Kansas City Chiefs, you’ll see the kind of moves you’d expect from Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. As always, the goal is to get ever closer to real-life football, with more dynamic weather effects, more details from pro stadiums and the return (at last!) of team mascots. The cover model this season is Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who’ll be ready to start leaping over defenders Thursday on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S, Switch 2 and PC.

  • ‘Refined Treehouse’ for sale looks like it’s growing out of Utah mountain. See it

‘Refined Treehouse’ for sale looks like it’s growing out of Utah mountain. See it

A marvel of a home that camouflages itself with nature has landed on the real estate market in Park City, Utah, for $16.89 million.

“Designed by renowned local architect Michael Upwall and crafted by Midway Construction Company, this masterpiece appears to grow organically out of Quarry Mountain,” the listing on The Agency says.

“The house, clad in sandstone sourced from the site itself, is built around a robust steel ‘birdcage’ structure, giving it the elegant feel of a refined treehouse and creating a connection to the outdoors.”

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home incorporates the scenic nature of its surroundings, and its use of “locally sourced materials” is another reason it stands out.

“Often compared to iconic residences like Tony Stark’s cliffside mansion or the animated Incredibles house, this home is a landmark that stirs curiosity from the heart of Historic Main Street Park City,” the listing says.

“Its strategic location in the Park Meadows neighborhood places it within a five to seven-minute drive of essential amenities and recreational spots including skiing, snowboarding, golf courses, and an array of dining and entertainment options. At an elevation of over 7,100 feet, the home offers dramatic, ever-changing views that stretch from the Northern Uinta Mountain Range to Deer Valley’s Bald Mountain and Park City Mountain Resort.”

Features of home, per the listing, include:

“This home not only offers unparalleled privacy and breathtaking views but also stands as a monument to sustainable, earth-conscious living,” the listing says.

The listing is held by Jake Doilney, Sarah Vieyra and Ben Kubicki.

Park City is about a 30-mile drive southeast from Salt Lake City.

  • Marvel’s New Ultimates Aren’t Just a Team, They’re a Resistance

    Marvel’s New Ultimates Aren’t Just a Team, They’re a Resistance

    [ad_1]

Marvel’s Ultimate Universe always has an Avengers, and the newly reborn one is no different. In a few months, the team is returning with The Ultimates, the first real team book of the new Ultimate line. Written by Deniz Camp and drawn by Juan Frigeri, the new book sees Tony Stark gathering superheroes—both those fully-formed and ones who haven’t become their heroic selves yet—to bolster his ranks alongside Doom, Sif, and Captain America.

Talking to ComicBook, Camp explained how his series will build upon the Ultimates foundation previously set by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch’s original version. Instead of fighting extraterrestrial threats and terrorists around the world, they’re fugitives framed for the murder of thousands back in Ultimate Universe and Ultimate Invasion. Likening them to the Partisans of WWII, Camp called them “a resistance network in occupied territory. Their status as outlaws/terrorists means they are under constant threat.”

Stark’s big plan to build a resistance network of superheroes means every issue will be one-and-dones that introduce the new Ultimate version of a Marvel hero. Beyond Ant-Man and the Wasp for the inaugural issue, Camp isn’t saying who else is part of the roster, but he did note the team’s got an 18-month timetable to build their ranks and save the world from whatever the Maker and his Council have got cooking up with their own personal City. Complicating matters further is Tony himself: as a younger, “more idealistic” version of his 616 self, he’ll find himself pulled in opposite ends by Doom and Captain America.

Team friction will be a big part of the book, especially as the ranks grow. “[They’re] people with very different backgrounds, beliefs, and reasons for fighting, united by [a] common enemy,” continued Camp. In the way OG Ultimates was focused on post-9/11 paranoia, his and Frigeri’s version will look at “that nagging sense that everything’s gone wrong somehow, that things were supposed to be better than this. In that way the two Ultimates will feel very different, but I think (hope) ours is true to the spirit and the ambition of the original.”

Growth and “changing the world” is the Ultimates gameplan, one Camp said will make it very differernt from the primary Marvel universe. Given free reign, he’s most excited to have the chance to make something of his own inside the Marvel sandbox different from his previous contract work. “This feels a lot more like writing a creator owned book,” he said, “albeit one that is directly working with classic Marvel iconography and archetypes. I consider it a real responsibility, and I’m doing my best to live up to it.”

The Ultimates kicks off its debut issue on June 5.

  • Cyclops Makes For a Better Iron Man Than Tony Stark In This Rad New Action Figure

Cyclops Makes For a Better Iron Man Than Tony Stark In This Rad New Action Figure

    [ad_1]

    Image: Sentinel

For the past few years, toymaker Sentinel’s “Fighting Armor” toyline has transformed Marvel heroes from across the comics into mechanized warriors better than even the actual Marvel Comics crossovers to do so. While its forays into the worlds of Mutantkind have been few and far between, its latest turns an X-Men stalwart into maybe its best spin on the idea yet.

Announced overnight, Sentinel revealed a first look at the Fighting Armor Cyclops, which takes an amalgam of several of Scott’s classic comics looks—from the legendary ‘90s Jim Lee design to his completely-over-the-head cowl aesthetic from earlier iterations of X-Men and X-Factor—and turns them into a very cool armored hero design that’s equal parts Iron X-Man and Mutant Suit Gundam.

To be honest, the Iron Man comparisons that founded the Fighting Armor line even really fall away for Cyclops, who looks much more interestingly robotic than most Iron Man armors do thanks to the little things that make Scott’s design what it is, like his mono-eye visor—he definitely leans into more looking like what if the X-Men made their own giant robot to fight a Sentinel, rather than strapping armor over themselves. It’s perfectly Scott Summers: a little dorky and nerdy, but also extremely cool when your back’s up against the wall and people are ready to throw mechanized hands.

The Fighting Armor Cyclops is set to release in June 2024 in Japan, and comes with multiple bonus accessories including a “smoking” and regular-firing optic blast attachment for Scott’s visor, alternate hands (including a thumbs up, which is definitely something Scott would be doing after realizing he’s fighting in a robot suit), and opening parts on the suit for extra articulation and posing. He’ll cost around $100 on import sites, and is available to pre-order now—click through to see more pictures of him, as well as the other X-Men Fighting Armor figure releasing in June along side him: Magneto, the master of magnetism!
