‘Meet the Putmans’ Family Announces 3 Deaths, 5 Injuries After “Tragic” Car Accident
Three members of the family featured in TLC‘s 2017 series Meet the Putmans have died after a car accident that also injured five others.
The family announced grandparents ‘Papa’ Bill Putman and ‘Neenee’ Barb Putman, as well as their daughter-in-law Megan Putman, “have gone home to be with the Lord” after they died from their injuries.
“Dear Friends and Family, I come to you with a heavy heart asking for your prayers. Our family was in a tragic car accident and we lost Papa, Neenee, and Aunt Megan,” the family announced in a statement on Instagram.
Megan’s husband Blake and their children Lulu, Alena and Noah, plus niece Gia, were also injured in the accident, as the family asked followers to keep them “in your prayers as they remain in the hospital, we are asking for complete healing and strength for each of them.”
The family added in part, “We ask for your continued prayers for Uncle Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia as they recover, and for our whole family as we walk through this deep loss. Even in this valley, we will praise Him. We trust that His plan is perfect, and that one day, we will be reunited in Heaven.”
The Putmans were introduced in TLC’s 2017 reality show Meet the Putmans, which followed Bill and Barb’s extended multi-generational family of 25 as they lived under one roof. The series was revived on YouTube as Growing Up Putman in 2021.

Tinashe Brings It On In Her Update to TLC’s “No Scrubs,” “No Broke Boys”
Cardi B might have recently reiterated, “Broke boys don’t deserve no pussy (I know that’s right!),” but it was TLC who helmed that message best on one of their biggest singles, “No Scrubs,” from their FanMail album. Pointedly released in the weeks just before Valentine’s Day of 1999, the song caused an immediately polarizing reaction between the sexes. For women, it was a long overdue roasting of men who presumed that women should “bow down” simply because they were men. For the latter, it was their worst fear realized: the opposite sex not only calling them on their bullshit, but insisting they wouldn’t tolerate it anymore if there wasn’t even any money and associated lavishing to be had out of the deal.
Thus, T-Boz, Chilli and Left-Eye changed womanhood forever with five simple words, “I don’t want no scrub.” The definition being a guy who’s “always talkin’ ‘bout what he wants and just sits on his broke ass.” Tinashe clearly took that message to heart (as much as Cardi B on the aforementioned “Up”) with “No Broke Boys,” her third single from Quantum Baby. Just how much is made apparent when she declares, “Run up the cost, ‘cause I need me a spender/Love is never really for free.” Such a transactional view of “love” almost makes it seem as if she watched Gentlemen Prefer Blondes before writing those lines (and yes, she is blonde in the video).
In contrast to her last music video and song, “Getting No Sleep,” Tinashe has opted to tap very much into her hetero side for this particular concept, even going full cheerleader in the accompanying visual, directed by Aerin Moreno (a frequent collaborator of Madison Beer’s). But more than just dressing in a cheerleader uniform, Tinashe seeks to evoke the vibe of 2000’s Bring It On, complete with her squad going pom-pom to pom-pom with a rival one. And the callback to that era makes sense considering how “00s hip hop/R&B” the backing track—co-produced by Zach Sekoff, Phoelix and Ricky Reed—sounds (it even has occasional tinges of Nivea’s “Don’t Mess With My Man”).
Opening with the verse, “Ex on the line, just as I suspected/No one really gets over me/I’m unaffected, why would you try to ever put me second?/You just another groupie to me now,” there’s something in Tinashe’s tone that recalls Mýa, even though the sentiment isn’t “Case of the Ex,” so much as bearing a similarity to (again) Cardi B flexing, “I like texts from my exes when they want a second chance” on 2018’s “I Like It.” As for the Bring It On “codedness” (read: totally overt callback to said 00s masterpiece), Tinashe and co. appear on the football field and on the bleachers to perform their lively choreo with ample confidence.
In one of the only scenes off the field, Tinashe—in the “costume” of a football player rather than a cheerleader (perhaps a subtle nod to her “swinging both ways”)—teaches her fellow women what she calls “Our Standards.” This done in a manner and mise-en-scène that also harkens back to another 00s movie: Mean Girls. Specifically, when Coach Carr (Dwayne Hill) warns his students in “health class,” “Don’t have sex. Because you will get pregnant and die.” Here, what Tinashe is ultimately saying to men is: Don’t be broke. Because you will be dead to me otherwise.
As for the standards Tinashe lists for her own far more attentive pupils than the ones in Coach Carr’s class, they are: 1) Not broke, 2) Under 1K followers (an interesting “ask”), 3) Big dick, 4) Not a DJ/promoter, 5) Six inches (or “6’s”) minimum, 6) Good with his hands and 7) Emotionally available. Not just a lot to require of any “modern” man, but additionally rather cliched and outmoded at this point in terms of conveying a stereotype about “what women want.” Nonetheless, as her squad takes notes, even the team led by the other head cheerleader (the one who looks like a version of Megan Fox in the earlier stages of her plastic surgery) has to stop and pay attention. So on board with the list, in fact, that they even put aside their differences/competitiveness long enough for them to nod in agreement, smile and infiltrate the class.
During the “big finish” of the video, the two groups join in together on their presently shared choreography, having found peace and common ground through this understanding of the “no scrubs” code that has, evidently, been updated to “no broke boys.” A concept Destiny’s Child also spoke to on “Bills Bills Bills,” which, incidentally, was released the same year as “No Scrubs”—but the former put their single out in May of 1999, two months after “No Scrubs” had already caused shock and delight around the world (though mainly in the United States, where a “response song” like “No Pigeons” “had to be” released in order to “keep women in check,” or some such bullshit male logic).
But Tinashe actually succeeds more deftly than Destiny’s Child at distilling and repurposing what TLC already said, refreshing their message with the upbeat chorus, “No broke boys, no new friends/I’m that pressure, give me my tens/Ain’t no lie, ain’t no shade/Fuck on me, then you know he paid/Looks so good, makes no sense/Bad ass bitch, with my bad ass friends/No broke boys, ain’t no shade/Fuck on me, then you know he paid.” All sung in a very “cheerleader chant” sort of way.
By the final frame of the video, however, Tinashe is walking all alone down the fifty-yard line—yet another indication that she’d rather be a “lone” wolf/cheerleader than settle for some dusty football player who’s going to end up as a used car salesman rather than a Travis Kelce. Hey, no one ever said capitalism and “love” weren’t inextricably linked. Least of all TLC.

Rico Wade, founder of Organized Noize, TLC, has passed away at 52
Rico Wade, one-third of the legendary production team Organized Noize and founding member of the Dungeon Family, has died. A cause of death has not been released at this time. Wade was 52.
Wade was a pioneer, a trailblazer, and helped provide the sound for a generation of Atlanta artists. He produced records for OutKast and Goodie Mob, and he was integral in bringing in his younger cousin, Future, into the music business. Wade also TLC’s “Waterfalls” and En Vogue’s “Don’t Let Go (Love).” The Dungeon Family was named for Wade’s basement studio, the Dungeon.

I don’t have the words to express my deep and profound sense of loss. I am Praying for your wife and Children. I am praying for the Wade family. I am praying for us all.

Livery driver fatally hits 61-year-old woman in Brooklyn
A driver behind the wheel of a Toyota SUV with TLC plates struck and killed a 61-year-old woman in Brooklyn on Sunday night.
The driver was heading north on Fourth Ave. when he smashed his SUV into the victim near Senator St. in Bay Ridge at 9:56 p.m., according to police.
Medics rushed the victim to Lutheran Hospital in Sunset Park, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene of the crash. The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.

Jessa Duggar Reveals She Suffered A Miscarriage With Baby No. 5 In Emotional Video

Jessa Duggar revealed in a heartbreaking 18-minute video that she suffered a miscarriage.
Jessa took to her YouTube channel Friday and detailed the tragedy in an emotional video, which starts with her and husband Ben Seewald gathered around their four children to tell them Jessa’s expecting baby No. 5. The video then cuts to the former TLC star explaining she was experiencing some complications.
Jessa and Ben would eventually head to the doctor for a checkup, and that’s when an ultrasound technician told them “the sac looks good. The baby does not.” Jessa said she immediately started crying, and the technician gave her and Ben a moment “to process the loss, sitting there and holding hands and crying.”
“When you lose someone so dear to you, it does make heaven that much sweeter,” she said in the video dubbed “Heartbreak Over the Holidays.” “We talked about that with the kids. We can’t wait to meet this little one in heaven one day.”
Jessa didn’t hold back exactly how she felt throughout the ordeal. Just before the dilation and curettage procedure (or D&C), the 30-year-old recalled second-guessing the doctors’ grim conclusion.
“Right as they were wheeling me back, I just wanted to ask, like, ‘Just can I please have one more ultrasound? Please? Somebody check, make sure,’” she said. “I was, like, having all these fears that maybe they got something wrong.”
She also expressed the most devastating moment about the loss.
“Just waking up after the procedure was over and just having this hallow feeling inside because you know that the life that was in you is no longer there. You never did get to see your baby or say those goodbyes or anything.”
Jessa also said her husband and mother were there to comfort her immediately following the procedure.
Jessa married Ben on Nov. 1, 2014. The couple welcomed their son Spurgeon Elliott a year later on Nov. 5, 2015, and another boy, son Henry Wilberforce, on Feb. 6, 2017. On May 26, 2019, they became parents to a baby girl, Ivy Jane, and on July 13, 2021, they welcomed their second daughter, Fern Elliana.

‘Say Yes to the Dress’ star Randy Fenoli engaged to boyfriend Mete Kobal – National | Globalnews.ca
Say Yes to the Dress star Randy Fenoli is used to hearing wedding bells chime, but soon enough he’ll be hearing his own.
Fenoli, a wedding dress designer and former Kleinfeld Bridal fashion director, has officially proposed to his partner of nearly a year, Mete Kobal.
On Instagram, Fenoli, 58, confirmed the romantic news, writing, “YES! It’s Official! We’re Engaged!!”

He shared a photo of him and Kobal in matching blue suede suits, sporting their new silver engagement bands.
“We’re so in love! Thank you so much!” Fenoli wrote on Instagram.
High-profile event and wedding planner Marcy Blum, who helped arrange the proposal, also tagged Fenoli in a series of photos. She shared an image of Fenoli on one knee in front of Kobal on a small stage surrounded by pink and purple flower arrangements.
“It wasn’t a dress, but @metekobal did say yes to @randyfenoli,” Blum wrote. “My longtime friend Randy, became engaged to his love last night, family and friends were there to celebrate.”
Fenoli told People magazine he proposed to Kobal at the Marmara Park Avenue hotel in New York City. Fenoli had told Kobal they were going to have dinner at the Museum of Modern Art but instead surprised him with the proposal.

The pair have been together since January. According to People, they met at the Marmara — where Kobal was working as a restaurant and bar manager at the time — and have been together ever since.
The proposal was large and lavish, with 50 guests reportedly in attendance, all of whom were friends and family. Several of Kobal’s friends from Turkey, where he is originally from, tuned in via a Zoom call.

“I’m the king of bridal. I’ve been doing this bridal for 30 years, and I honestly just never thought it was going to happen for me,” Fenoli told People.
Fenoli said they are planning to get married while on a Princess Cruise with stops in Greece, Italy and Istanbul, so that the soon-to-be newlyweds can celebrate with Kobal’s friends and family in Turkey.

‘Sister Wives’ stars Kody Brown and Janelle separate after nearly 30 years together – National | Globalnews.ca
The Brown family’s relationships are getting messier and messier on TLC’s Sister Wives.
In a teaser for an upcoming Sister Wives: One-on-One special hosted by Sukanya Krishnan, Kody Brown and second wife Janelle confirmed that they have “separated.” The pair has been together, though not legally married — as polygamy is illegal in Utah where they live — for nearly 30 years.

Janelle, 53, told Krishnan that she and Kody, also 53, have been “separated for several months.” Kody confirmed the split in a solo interview of his own.
“Janelle has made it pretty clear to me that she’s enjoying her life without me,” Kody said.
Janelle seemed to think a little more highly of Kody.
“I think if we both really sat down, we’d look at each other and say, ‘Really?’” she said.
Kody also confirmed that he is now divorced from his third wife Christine. In 2021, Christine announced her separation from Cody, claiming they had “grown apart” after 25 years together.
Christine shared some insight of her own into Kody and Janelle’s relationship during the One-on-One special.
“For Janelle, I think she’s frustrated and she’s so hurt, and I think that man that she was married to, she realizes that he’s totally different, but she’s different too,” said Christine, 50.
Kody is still with his first wife Meri (though their relationship has become platonic) and his fourth wife Robyn, whom he is legally married to.
The Sister Wives: One-on-One special will see solo interviews with Kody, Janelle, Meri, Robyn and Christine. In the trailer, Kody admits that the relationships between his wives “aren’t good.” The emotional interviews range in topic from reconciliation (or lack thereof) to past arguments between the sister wives and which of the women is Kody’s “favourite” wife.

Earlier this year, amid rising tensions in the Brown family, Kody asked his wives to “conform to patriarchy.”
During a solo confessional in the same episode, Janelle told the cameras she “didn’t know I’d signed up for patriarchy,” as that was “not what we all agreed on in the very beginning.” She ended the comment with a shrug.
Kody legally married his first wife Meri in 1990. He spiritually married Janelle, his second wife, in 1993. Christine and Kody entered into a spiritual marriage in 1994, making her his third wife. His fourth wife, Robyn, joined the Brown family in 2010.
In 2014, Kody divorced Meri and legally married Robyn in order to adopt her three children from an earlier marriage.
The three-part Sister Wives: One-on-One special will air Dec. 18, Jan. 1 and Jan. 8 at 10 p.m. E.T. on TLC.

Dear MTV, Please Bring Back Early-2000s Reality TV
Fine, I’ll admit it! I am exhausted from watching heavy plots about murder mysteries and docudramas detailing scandals. I’ve had enough of watching all the bad in the world. And after a long day of work I’m in no mood to follow a plot-heavy show.
What I really want is to kick back, relax, and watch mindless entertainment. Thanks to the resurgence of Y2K fashion this year, I’ve been yearning to go back to my roots…I’m talking about the kind of trashy reality television that only the early 2000s could manifest.
There’s nothing more satisfying and utterly delicious than watching a group of people act like heathens in front of a camera just for the sake of good TV. In the early 2000s, if there was a camera, anyone would do anything to become famous.
They’d say anything, do anything, and manufacture dramatized situations simply for the sake of viewership. And we ate it up. And let’s be frank: they just don’t make them like they used to.
Compared to what we grew up with, the current slate of reality TV is lame. These days, people try their hand at earning fame through Instagram and TikTok. But in the heyday of reality TV, you had to get off your ass and work. Read: be on TV.
There was a plethora of shows to choose from. It wasn’t just The Kardashians and a smattering of overproduced beachside dating shows. There was Say Yes To The Dress, The Hills, My Super Sweet 16, Four Weddings, and more!
And yes, I’m a fan of Love Island and Love is Blind, but they’re not the same. I miss following a bunch of rabid 20-somethings around who didn’t care how the public perceived them. Most reality TV contestants nowadays use their shows as a stepping stone into the Influencer World — boring. I miss when there were zero stakes.
The cast of Jersey Shore got into multiple fistfights every season. The children on My Super Sweet 16 were openly entitled and outwardly rude. Everyone in every show would say the most outrageous statements that you wouldn’t dare whisper on national television.
These days, it’s all about image. The Kardashians use their Hulu show to give you a look into their lives. But much of this promotes their brands and addresses scandals we’ve known about for months. And Love Island members were all fighting for a Princess Polly endorsement from day one.
Bring me back to the “anything goes” mentality of the early 2000s. I miss watching out-of-touch heiresses like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie try out mundane, “poor” tasks like going to a grocery store or working in a restaurant. Take me back to the simpler times of The Simple Life.
My recent aching for this niche genre of reality cinema started when I stumbled across seasons 4 and 6 of My Super Sweet 16 on Hulu and was hooked. Then I turned to old episodes of Jersey Shore. Who knows what mind-numbing show is next?
And while I get my Sweet Sixteen fix on Paramount Plus, I am openly encouraging TLC and MTV to go back to producing raw reality television. I want the cast to not have any hopes or dreams for their careers and put their all into these shows.

The endless drama between Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag fed my soul…even if most of the show was fake. I don’t care. They sold me.
