Fern Britton could apparently make a TV comeback following her Celebrity Big Brother success – and as Phillip Schofield is “no longer calling the shots” at ITV, a report claims.

Former This Morning presenter Fern, 66, recently reached the final of Celebrity Big Brother, finishing in fifth place. Shortly after her stint in the famous house, she returned to the This Morning sofa to reflect on her time on the reality show.

Her appearance on the daytime show, however, sparked a flurry of fan comments begging her to make a return to TV. Now, a source claims there could be some opportunities on the horizon for Fern…

Speaking to the MailOnline, an insider claimed: “Fern is so relatable but after she left This Morning under a bit of a dark cloud she was kind of forgotten.

“After such a long time things didn’t end well and it meant that perhaps her legacy there had been ignored, but the second she was back on the sofa they realised what they had been missing for all of these years.

“For many of the bosses it is a no-brainer to use her as much as they can, and of course as much as Fern wants to commit. She is the most experienced and talented of broadcasters and is absolutely adored by the British public.”

Meanwhile, friends of Fern have apparently claimed there’s “many opportunities for Fern” now that Phillip is “no longer at ITV calling the shots like he did before”.

The source claims that Phil “wielded so much power there”.

Fern and Phillip reportedly feuded for some years during and after her time on This Morning. Back in 2020, during a radio interview, Fern said of the rift claims: “There was also a persistent rumour that I left because Phillip was being paid more than me and I always say to people, ‘Why would I leave a show to go to nothing if I was worried about money?’”

Why Fern left This Morning

She added: “Something happened and I thought, ‘That’s it really’ and I walked away and resigned. I was treated pretty poorly, actually. And after a while I just thought, ‘Sod it.’”

Elsewhere, speaking in his memoir in 2020, Phil claimed they had rowed backstage at the daytime show. It was apparently over the content of a This Morning episode. He wrote: “I walked back into the makeup room and calmly said: ‘Please don’t do that to me again.’ I think, for whatever reason, that was the point Fern decided she didn’t want to do This Morning any more.”

He also said he had “tried over the years to make it right” but she had “moved on”.

This Morning fans fume as Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley replaced next week just weeks after debut

This Morning will see new main presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley replaced next week.

Ben and Cat made their This Morning debut on March 11. However, after just two weeks of hosting the main Monday to Thursday shows, the pair will be replaced from next Monday (April 1).

Just like former main hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby had the Easter holidays off, Cat and Ben will get the same.

A promo showed on This Morning today announced Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will be hosting next week.

Dermot, who hosted today with Josie Gibson, was thrilled to have his presenting partner back.

Josie also gushed: “Alison’s back!”

Dermot replied: “Well I’ve enjoyed my time with you,” to which Josie said: “Oh yeah, but…”

Meanwhile, Josie said: “I’m loving having my queenie back, I’m missing her. Miss you, Al!”

Viewers shared their thoughts on Alison and Dermot hosting next week. One person moaned on X: “Cat & Ben only been in their cushy new job 5 mins, and they’re already having 10 days off!”

In addition, another wrote: “So Ben and Cat are just two weeks on the job and they’ve got the next 10 days off hahahaha joke, absolute joke.”

Someone else added: “No one has asked for Alison – just as no one asked for Ben and Cat.”

When Ben and Cat made their debut earlier this month, a body language expert shared his thoughts on the pair’s rapport.

Darren Stanton said on behalf of Betfair Slots: “There’s an instant connection between Cat and Ben. The levels of chemistry they’re showing is similar to some of the best duos on This Morning.

“What’s interesting is that there’s certain times when they’ll lean in towards each other. This is quite significant as it’s an example of matching and mirroring that you don’t often see.”

Meanwhile, he added: “They’re very well suited as the faces of This Morning. It’s a show that needs two very strong presenters.”

Alison Hammond squirms after awkward Phillip Schofield gag on new TV show – days after she said he was ‘last thing I would want to talk about’

This Morning star Alison Hammond grinned awkwardly as a joke was made about ex-colleague Phillip Schofield during her latest television appearance.

Tonight (March 14), Alison appeared on an episode of Rob Beckett’s Smart TV on Sky Max. She and Last Leg star Josh Widdicombe served as team captains.

With a booked and busy career, Alison revealed on the show that the only thing she watches during her downtime is This Morning on catch-up.

In response, Job said: “You’re the only person who’s ever gone onto ITV Player and played This Morning… since the episode where Phillip left.”

Alison’s guest teammate Roman Kemp quickly reacted by putting his head in his hands. Alison, on the other hand, reacted with an awkward grin.

The gag follows Phillip’s drama with ITV. After working for the network for 30 years, Phillip quit after admitting he had an affair with a much younger male colleague. While owning up to the fact that he had lied to his family and everyone at work, Phillip described the affair as “unwise” but “not illegal”.

It was only last weekend that Allison was last heard speaking about Phillip. In her interview with The Sunday Times, the 49-year-old presenter discussed Phillip’s departure from ITV.

While stating that she didn’t want to “get into salacious gossip”, Alison said she “personally [wished] Phillip Schofield all the best”.

“I loved Phillip Schofield. Full stop. But that’s the last thing I would want to speak about,” she continued.

Since leaving ITV, Phillip has kept a very low profile. Despite being seen out and about occasionally, he hasn’t worked on television since.

Alison Hammond admits it’s a ‘massive responsibility’ as she makes emotional vow over For the Love of Dogs

Following the news that she will be the new host of For the Love of Dogs, Alison Hammond has admitted it’s a big deal to follow in Paul O’Grady’s footsteps.

While hosting This Morning today (February 2) alongside Dermot O’Leary, she was congratulated by her co-host for the new job.

Alison Hammond wants to learn more about dogs

After thanking Dermot for congratulating her, he stated that he was going to get Alison a dog. Admitting that it’s a “massive responsibility” to host the show, the former Big Brother contestant stated she wanted to take the job to learn more about dogs.

“I’ve always wanted a dog but you have to take it very very seriously,” she said.

Following the news, Alison received a backlash for the job as many questioned her passion for dogs. A handful of names from Tom Hardy and Sue Perkins to Martin Clunes were popular choices from fans.

Another name that came up often was Julian Clary, who Alison said on the show got in touch with her.

While in the Maldives, Julian told Alison that he is “so happy that you got the job,” stating that Paul “thought very highly” of Alison and would “be happy” that she’s the new host.

Almost choking up, Alison said the text made her “so happy” and wants to make Paul’s legacy and Battersea proud.

She said: “I just want to carry on that work because the charity does so much good work.”

With Dermot trying to persuade Alison to adopt a dog or cat, she told him that it’s not “ideal” with her lifestyle right now. However, she isn’t ruling it out in the future.

In a statement following the announcement, Alison said: “I am very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series.”

She continued by saying it is “an absolute privilege to give it my all” by showing off Battersea’s “brilliant work”.

I’m A Celeb star Josie Gibson showed off her weight loss following her jungle stint in a new interview recently.

The This Morning presenter, 38, showcased her slimmed-down figure in a stunning black dress when she was quizzed about her jungle experience.

During the interview, she admitted she’d almost quit the show during its early stages. She confessed she began to have these thoughts just hours after walking into the Australian jungle.

“I didn’t know how I could do a week – let alone three. I did have a big wobble a few days before the end as well. I was pining for (my son) Reggie. I was sad and I wasn’t myself.”

She also revealed how she got under her quilt and thought to herself how she was going to do this. “When I first got there, actually I sat there under my quilt and I honestly thought, ‘How am I going to do this? How am I ever going to see this through?” she said.

She admitted she was “proud” of herself

Since then, the telly favourite said that her spider phobia has gotten a little less and she was “proud” of being the only woman standing.

“I’ve been in there six months. One day is like three rolled into one. It feels like forever. But I couldn’t have done the experience without the campmates I had. There was a real connection,” she added.

Meanwhile, Josie reunited with her four-year-old son as they waited for the finalists to return.

According to The Mirror, her son was not allowed to meet Josie across the bridge because of his age. Instead, her best friend Mia greeted her at the end.

This Morning legend Judy Finnigan ‘cannot understand’ why Phillip Schofield ‘had to go’

Judy Finnigan has revealed she’s baffled as to why This Morning host Phillip Schofield had to leave the ITV daytime series.

Judy, 75, fronted This Morning with hubby Richard Madeley for 13 years between 1988 and 2001. Successor Phillip, meanwhile, presented the show for over two decades until he left ITV earlier this year.

The 61-year-old’s exit came amid reports of an affair with a younger male colleague. Phillip resigned after admitted lying to ITV executives about the relationship, which he said was “unwise but not illegal”.

‘Extraordinary disaster’ for ITV and This Morning

Speaking with Saga Exceptional, Judy reflected on how This Morning has changed over the years since she was involved.

She indicated segments and topics covered in the programme have altered – and maybe internal processes have, too.

Judy said the circumstances surrounding Phillip’s leaving represented an “extraordinary disaster of a stage in This Morning’s life”.

Furthermore Judy, whose third novel Roseland was recently published, also made it clear she wouldn’t go on the show and sit on the sofa to publicise her book.

She admitted: “I no longer watch it, and won’t appear on there to talk about my book.”

However, Judy insisted she doesn’t object to the show. Although she’s not convinced literary matters attract audiences any longer.

She went on: “This isn’t a protest, it’s just a very different show than it was when we were doing it. We’d interview people about books, and you felt like there was some real interest there. I’m not sure there would be now.”

‘Phillip is a friend’

Judy also expressed her opinion that Phillip’s departure wasn’t necessarily required.

She said: “I know the politics inside television are extremely dense, but it seems to me to be an extraordinary disaster of a stage in This Morning’s life that I don’t think needed to happen. Phillip [Schofield] is not a close friend but he is a friend, and I must admit I simply cannot understand why he had to go.”

Additionally, Judy was at a loss why it might have been deemed the show couldn’t thrive unless Phillip and his former colleague Holly Willoughby weren’t considered the best of pals.

She noted she felt it was an “unhealthy obsession” that it was regarded they had to be so close for the programme to work. Judy added: “I just find the whole thing a great shame and incredibly upsetting.”

Josie Gibson sparks romance rumours as she beams with hunky man on dinner date

This Morning presenter Josie Gibson sparked romance rumours after posting a loved-up selfie with a hunky man following a dinner date together.

The telly star, 38, took to her Instagram and posted a selfie after her dinner date with the mysterious man, which raised her fans’ eyebrows.

“One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my entire existence. If you ever get the chance @lavolondon in Marylebone London is the one,” she captioned the photo.

She cheekily added that her date was also “very delicious”. Josie wrote: “The company was delicious too!! What an amazing evening. I felt like I was in heaven! @mauriceflynn @lavolondon Thank you #italiangirl #italian #italianfood #lavo @deanpiperisalive @helenrave.”

Meanwhile, the comments section of her post exploded with questions, as one fan wrote: “Is this your fella Josie…I do hope so. Because you are beautiful and you deserve a good man who treats you right.”

This comes after viewers picked Rylan Clark and Josie as their new Phil and Holly, so it seems like the duo have made a mark on This Morning so far.

Presenter was single back in August

In an interview with OK! Magazine, Josie revealed she has “high standards” in her dating life because of her son Reggie-James. She said: “I’m quite old-fashioned and I’m cautious about who I bring into my son’s life because I want to protect him. I’d have to be going out with someone a year before I introduced them to Reg.

“I’m single as a Pringle because I’ve got too much pride in myself and too much self-respect to ever go near anyone who doesn’t follow the same values I do,” Josie concluded.

Josie’s reps had no comment when approached by ED! for comment.

Sarah Beeny has shared a health update after undergoing surgery following her cancer battle.

The 51-year-old took to Instagram to share the update yesterday (Friday, October 27).

Yesterday saw Sarah share a health update with her Instagram followers.

In a post for her 408k followers to see, Sarah revealed that she has undergone surgery to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.

Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer last year before undergoing a double mastectomy. She was given the all-clear in April of this year.

Sarah had the surgery because she tested positive for the PALB2 gene mutation. The PALB2 gene raises the risk of breast cancer when mutated, like the BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene.

She shared a snap of herself and her husband Graham Swift sharing a hug outside of the hospital, as well as a snap of her hospital bed for her followers to see.

“Turns out little day surgery to whip out my ovaries and tubes as the last tick box after testing positive for #palb2 gene mutation isn’t quite the walk in the park I expected and flipping smarts – not feeling quite as jolly as when G dropped me this morning….. x,” she captioned the post.

“PS thanks yet again to the totally brilliant @yeovil_hospital_nhs and your AMAZING wonderful staff x.”

Sarah’s fans and followers flooded the comment section with their support.

“Sending love your way,” Sophie Ellis-Bextor commented. “Put your Wonder Woman pants on Sarah you are amazing and such an inspiration to everyone x sending lots of hugs,” another follower said.

“You are a strong positive lady, with @graham.swift and the boys by your side, you will be fine, your glass is always half full, you are a very positive lady,” another said.

“Ahh your so brave, thats such a beautiful picture of you both. Keep going your an inspiration to so many people. Hope you feel better soon,” another said.

Sarah hits back

Earlier this year, following the release of her Channel 4 documentary, Sarah Beeny Vs Cancer, one viewer suggested that Sarah had had a better level of care than other women with the disease. However, Sarah was quick to hit back.

“Loving #SarahBeenyVsCancer, but her being able to find a professor who is an expert, to have a whole team of researchers, etc, makes me wish everyone had those resources, support and that level of care – and that levelling of the field is the whole point of a PUBLIC NHS,” the viewer tweeted.

“Thanks for watching. The research was done by a tiny team of me and my producer/director Jonney and producer Angie, for a documentary where we wanted share the fact that treatments are improving all the time,” Sarah responded.

“My treatment was all done by the amazing NHS we are so lucky to have,” she then added.

Steph McGovern’s response to replacing Holly Willoughby on This Morning before Channel 4 axe

Steph McGovern made a touching confession about Holly Willoughby following her exit from This Morning as she addressed replacing the star.

Fans have begged Steph, 41, to replace Holly and present the popular ITV show since Steph’s Packed Lunch was axed this week.

Speaking to the Daily Mail before her Channel 4 show was axed, she revealed that she wasn’t worried about being on TV following Holly’s alleged kidnap plot. She said: “I don’t think I’m as famous as Holly Willoughby. If I’m honest, so I probably won’t ever have that problem.”

The telly personality said that she knows Holly is a “fantastic broadcaster” and wished her well.

Steph said: “I don’t know her – I know she’s a fantastic broadcaster, so I wish her well. I don’t think I’ve actually even met her before.”

According to the Mirror, Steph opted to ignore the news as she opened her show today (October 20). She then introduced the show and gave viewers a lowdown on what to expect on Friday’s programme.

I don’t know her – I know she’s a fantastic broadcaster, so I wish her well.

“Welcome to a very packed lunch Friday at Leeds Dock,” she began in a very positive tone.

Steph’s Packed Lunch will end in December

Steph’s own show will end in December 2023 on Channel 4. The channel released a statement and said it was a very “difficult decision” to make.

The statement read: “With audience habits changing quicker than ever, we have to make difficult decisions about which programmes to invest in to best drive our digital-first strategy. We have decided not to recommission Steph’s Packed Lunch when its existing production contract ends in December 2023.”

A spokesperson told Daily Mail that they’ve had “three fantastic years of producing Steph’s Packed Lunch together” and working with her was brilliant.
