    As confusing as it might seem to some regular viewers of the daytime soap opera, it’s crucial to note that on Friday, February 6, 2026, the latest episodes will not be broadcast during their usual daytime slots on CBS.

    Instead, the beloved and prominent soap operas such as The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Beyond the Gates will be shown on WLNY-TV (New York 55) from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    CBS is temporarily replacing these three soaps to provide live coverage of the Installation of the Archbishop of New York on CBS New York. Such kinds of preemption usally happens when the network prioritizes other programming blocks or events, such as special shows, news, sports, or holiday-related content.

    Nevertheless, viewers located in the New York area can access the WLNY-TV cable channel and continue to enjoy the complete episodes there.     No, The Young and the Restless will not have a new episode on January 1, 2026. However, the famed soap opera will have a new episode on January 2, 2025, picking up directly from its episode on December 31, 2025.

    So, despite the show not taking a break on New Year’s Eve, there will be a break from the regular storyline for New Year’s Day. However, an interesting episode will take its place on January 1, 2026.

    The soap will bring a classic 1998 episode to the screens again on the first day of the year. This episode, widely remembered by fans, will feature Katherine Chancellor throwing a lavish party at her mansion. However, the celebrations will not last long with Jill Abbott becoming the thorn in the way.

    Meanwhile, the episode before the one on New Year’s Eve follows a current storyline, in which Cane tries to win Lily back for yet another time. Meanwhile, Adam and Sally talk about their messy past, and Tessa begins to understand her feelings for Daniel.

    After the brief break with a throwback episode, the story will continue on January 2, 2025. As per the spoilers, Victor will join forces with Nick to fend off a seasoned nemesis. Daniel will also have a story arc with Tessa. Mariah will kick off the new year with worries about Ian Ward.

    So, fans have ample exciting things coming on the show, despite a break in the flow of regular episodes for New Year’s Day.

    Fans may be surprised to see a familiar face from the golden era of ’80s and ’90s daytime soaps suddenly appearing in the biggest show of the moment. Peter Bergman, a longtime star of The Young and the Restless, has a cameo in the record-breaking new Apple TV+ series Pluribus. The series, created by Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, arrived with enormous anticipation. But Apple has recently confirmed what early buzz suggested: Pluribus is officially the platform’s most successful new drama series debut ever.

    The series has surpassed the already massive viewership numbers set by Severance season two earlier this year, a remarkable feat, and one that instantly cemented its place as Apple’s latest prestige hit. And right there in the opening episode is Peter, slipping seamlessly into a world of high-stakes sci-fi drama.

    Peter’s appearance may be brief, but it’s undeniably important. Without giving away spoilers, he appears in the very first episode as a high-ranking White House official, delivering crucial narrative information directly to the show’s central character. It’s a sharp, authoritative moment that helps propel the series forward, exactly the kind of grounded, compelling presence Peter has perfected across decades in daytime television.

    For longtime soap fans, seeing the actor they first knew as Cliff Warner on All My Children in the 1980s, and of course as Jack Abbott on The Young and the Restless since 1989, in a slick premium drama is pure delight. It’s also a reminder that daytime performers – so often overlooked by mainstream awards bodies – hold a deep well of skill, stamina, and screen presence.

    But the story behind Peter’s casting in Pluribus might be even better than the cameo itself. As it turns out, the veteran soap star landed the role through a friendship that stretches back more than 40 years, and it involves one of television’s most famous fictional criminals – Bryan Cranston, who played Walter White on Breaking Bad. 

    “Bryan and I met each other on a softball field in Central Park when I was on All My Children and he was on Loving, and we have been friends since,” Peter said in an interview with TV Insider. “His wife, Robin, and my wife, Mariellen, are very dear friends, and we vacation together.”

    Because Bryan later formed a creative partnership (and a deep friendship) with Vince Gilligan while making Breaking Bad, the connection eventually extended to Peter. When Vince began assembling the world of Pluribus, Peter was invited to star in the hit series. 

    “Vince texted me and said, ‘Hey, I have this thing coming up that I think you’d be perfect for.’ Peter said. “I said, ‘As long as it fits into my Y&R schedule, I’d love that.’” Peter received the script and quickly realized how tightly the project was being kept under wraps. “I had to sign an NDA, and it was a watermarked script and very secretive,” he added.

    Paying tribute to his roles in the two daytime soaps, Peter said: “Both of these daytime jobs were something I was convinced I could make last for six months, and what it’s turned into is really something. I work as much as I did when I was 40. It’s going to be hard for you to find a more grateful actor out there.”

    Prolific soap opera writer and actress Meg Bennett has sadly passed away.

    Known for roles in The Young & The Restless and General Hospital, the multifaceted talent died at 75 years old on April 11. In an obituary penned by her family, it was revealed that she tragically passed after a battle with cancer. They wrote:

    “Helen Margaret Bennett, known throughout her professional career on stage and screen as ‘Meg,’ lost her battle with cancer on April 11th 2024. Until nearly the end she was devotedly working with children, writing, and engaging with her far-flung family and friends.”

    Meg got her start starring in soap opera Search For Tomorrow in 1975, just a few years before landing the role of Julia Martin on The Young & The Restless. She made appearances on the show from 1980 all the way up until 2020. She also acted in a couple episodes of General Hospital, but was more known for her massive contribution to the show behind the camera — writing 197 episodes, according to IMDB. She also wrote over 300 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful, and over 60 episodes of Sunset Beach, among many others. According to her obituary, she received five Daytime Emmy nominations throughout her career, and her team won for General Hospital in 1995.

    She leaves behind Sunset Beach co-creator husband Robert Guza, Jr., whom she married in 2004, as well as “two step-daughters and four adored grandchildren, along with a brother and sister and a bevy of nieces and nephews.”

    So sad. Rest in peace, Meg.

    After a months-long absence from The Young the Restless, actor Christian LeBlanc has revealed it was a cancer diagnosis that kept him away from the ever-popular soap opera set.

    During an interview with CBS affiliate 4WWL in New Orleans, the 65-year-old TV star said he was in June diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a common form of blood cancer that develops from a buildup of abnormal plasma cells in bone marrow.

    “It’s a common cancer but a very fast-moving one,” LeBlanc said. “I’d never spent a day in hospital in my 65 years, until this year.”

    LeBlanc, who said his cancer is now in remission, first stepped into the shoes of Michael Baldwin on The Young and the Restless in 1991. For over 2,300 episodes, LeBlanc has captivated fans with his dramatic performance. At one point, his character was even diagnosed with cancer, too.

    “It’s interesting. You play that scene where you hear the word, just the word, in a doctor’s office: cancer. And I got to play that as Michael Baldwin,” he said, reflecting on how his art has imitated life.

    This year, LeBlanc said he started to notice physical differences in his appearance while on set. The actor said he rapidly lost 35 pounds in the span of two months. On one occasion when he put on his character’s wedding ring, he said it “fell off without friction.”

    LeBlanc also experienced nosebleeds during filming and saw changes in his facial features, namely a drooping eye.

    He wasn’t the only person to be concerned.

    “The fans caught it,” LeBlanc recalled with a smile, referring to his drooping eye. He said he received numerous messages from concerned viewers.

    Eventually, LeBlanc was told there was a tumour in his sinus cavity.

    He said he underwent surgery and immunotherapy treatment in hospital.

    Now that LeBlanc has no evidence of disease (NED), the actor said he will return to The Young and the Restless. His next appearance as Michael Baldwin is slated for the show’s American Thanksgiving episode on Nov. 23.

    In the meantime, LeBlanc said he has been working with charities that not only fund cancer research, but also support the cancer community.

    “It’s about how to mentally deal with it, how financially you might cope with the expenses of being out of work,” he explained.

    LeBlanc is not the only The Young and the Restless cast member to be diagnosed with cancer. In April, Eric Braeden, who played the self-made business mogul Victor Newman, said he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

    In August, after undergoing a cystoscopy, Braeden said he was cancer-free.

    “They couldn’t find a damn thing,” the actor said in a Facebook livestream. “Isn’t that nice?”

    Soap opera fans around the world are mourning the death of actor Billy Miller, who was best known for his roles on The Young and the Restless and General Hospital. Miller was 43.

    Miller died in Austin, Texas, on Friday, only two days before what would have been his 44th birthday.

    His manager told People in a statement that Miller was “struggling with manic depression when he died.” (Manic depression is an outdated term for what is now known as bipolar disorder.)

    A cause of death has not yet been released publicly.

    Miller, who was raised in Grand Prairie, Texas, got his start on All My Children in 2007.

    From there, Miller played Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless from 2008 to 2014. Miller’s portrayal of Abbott, the “spoiled rich boy”-turned-alcoholic, was immensely popular among the soap opera’s dedicated fans.

    Miller won three Daytime Emmy Awards for the role, two for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series and one for outstanding lead actor in a drama series. He was the fourth actor to play Abbott on The Young and the Restless.

    Miller later joined the cast of General Hospital, where he played Jason Morgan from 2016 to 2017. He also portrayed Morgan’s twin, Drew Cain, until he left General Hospital in 2019.

    Miller, who started his career as a model, also appeared on Suits, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Castle. 

    Many of Miller’s castmates and fans shared tributes following his death.

    Risa Dorken, who plays Nurse Amy Driscoll on General Hospital said she was “heartbroken” by news of Miller’s death.

    “Warm, kind incredibly talented…  a big hug to the daytime family,” Dorken wrote.

    Eric Braeden, who portrays Victor Newman on The Young and The Restless, said he was deeply saddened by the loss of a “very gifted actor.” He described a time he told Miller not to back down amid “tough negotiations” for a television role.

    “‘BILLY BOY’ was not only a damn good actor but a nice man!” Braeden wrote.

    Eileen Davidson, who is known for playing Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless, shared a lovely throwback photo of she and Miller holding their Daytime Emmy awards.

    “His infectious charm and warmth left lasting impressions on all of us who were lucky enough to have him in our lives. Im gonna miss that mischievous smile,” she wrote.

    Throughout his career, Miller had been public about his struggle with tarsal coalition, a rare genetic condition that connects the bridge tissues in someone’s tarsal bones. The condition often causes aches and pains in a person’s feet and may result in difficulty walking.

    Despite his condition, Miller attributed his “determination” and “love” as reasons for his success.

    Miller is survived by his mother Patricia, sister Megan, brother-in-law Ronnie, nephew Grayson and niece Charley.

    Billy Miller, the actor and Emmy Award winner known for his roles on the popular daytime series “The Young and the Restless,” “General Hospital” and “All My Children,” has died, his representative Marnie Sparer confirmed. He was 43.

    Miller died on Friday, Sept. 15, in Austin, Texas. He would have celebrated his 44th birthday on Sunday. The actor was struggling with manic depression when he died, Sparer said in a statement shared with CBS News. A cause of death was not given.

    According to Sparer’s statement, Miller was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Sept. 17, 1979, and raised in Grand Prairie, a city outside of Dallas. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a production degree, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he worked in the mailroom at an entertainment management company. On a dare from friends, he also began to pursue a career in acting, the statement said.

    Miller found early success appearing in commercials and, in 2007, he stepped into his breakout television role on the ABC soap opera “All My Children,” where he played the character Richie Novak for about one year.

    His exit from “All My Children” happened around the same time Miller made his debut appearance as Billy Abbott on the CBS daytime drama “The Young and the Restless,” a role that he would continue to play until 2014. Miller garnered fame and critical praise during his six-year tenure on “The Young and the Restless,” earning five Daytime Emmy Award nominations and winning three, in 2010, 2013 and 2014.  

    Miller later joined the cast of “General Hospital,” another popular daytime soap opera, initially playing Jason Morgan before eventually taking on the role of Drew Cain, the character’s twin. He appeared in the show from 2013 until his departure in 2019.

    Along with his extensive run in the daytime television circuit, Miller appeared in various films and TV series, including “Truth be Told,” “Suits,” “Ray Donovan,” “Bad Blood,” “Fatal Honeymoon,” “American Sniper,” “Ringer,” “Justified” and “Castle.” He also owned multiple restaurants and bars in Los Angeles.

    Miller is survived by his mother, sister, and brother-in-law, as well as a niece and nephew, according to the statement from his representative. 

    “He also leaves behind a great many friends and colleagues who will miss his warm personality, generous spirit, and genuine kindness,” the statement read.

    Sharon Farrell, whose screen credits include the original “Hawaii Five-O”, several years on “The Young and the Restless” and the cult horror film “It’s Alive”, has died at age 82.

    According to Deadline, Farrell died back in May, but her death had only recently been discovered by relatives.

    Among Farrell’s extensive credits also included the films “The Stunt Man”, “Lone Wolf McQuade”, “Marlowe”, “The Reivers” and “Can’t Buy Me Love”.

    In 1974’s “It’s Alive”, she starred as Lenore, mother of a monstrously deformed baby who goes on a killing spree.

    On television, Farrell joined the cast of “Hawaii Five-O” in its final season, playing as Det. Lori Wilson. She also portrayed  Florence Webster on “Y&R” between 1991-97.

    Following her first screen appearance in the late 1950s, Farrell was a frequent guest star on numerous television series throughout the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, including “Gunsmoke”, “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”, “The Beverly Hillbillies”, “I Dream of Jeannie”, “Matlock” and “JAG”.

    Farrell’s most recent credit was in the TV series “Broken at Love”, in which she played Grandma Geraldine for two episodes between 2013 and 2014.

    Eric Braeden has revealed he was diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing immunotherapy to treat high-grade cancerous cells near his bladder.

    The veteran “Young and the Restless” star posted a 13-minute video Friday on Facebook and said he had problems with his prostate while recuperating from a recent knee-replacement surgery when the health scare came about. “I hate to be this personal but I think this may be good for some older guys who may or may not listen to this,” he said.

    Braeden said the prostate problem manifested to the point where he was frequently urinating, about every half hour or so. A urologist suggested he undergo a UroLift, which relieves pressure on the urethra. But before undergoing that procedure, Braeden said the urination problem “became so bad I couldn’t pee.”

    “And that my friends I can tell you is one of the most painful experiences I’ve had,” he said.

    Braeden would eventually pull into Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for a second opinion, where one of the pioneers of the UroLift treated him. He returned to the hospital a few days later, though it’s not clear exactly when, and that’s when Braeden said the doctor diagnosed him with cancer. The plan turned into the doctor performing the UroLift, at which point Braeden said the doctor would remove the cancer.

    After undergoing surgery to remove the cancer, Braeden said he was asked to return a week later. And after looking at the biopsy report, Braeden said that “amongst the low-grade cancer cells there [were] some high-grade cancer cells” near his bladder. He said the urologist told him they’ll treat the high-grade cancer cells with immunotherapy once a week for six weeks.

    Braeden said, this past week, he underwent the second session. Some of the side effects are flu-like symptoms, he said.

    The 82-year-old actor said he’s currently under the weather but continues to exercise moderately, something he said “is difficult for an athlete” like himself.

    “So that’s where I am right now,” said the actor, who added he’s continued acting on the soap despite the diagnosis. “I’m a little under the weather, but not really much. I’ve learned now to listen to my body more and not go all out. I’m gonna get it. And I’ll be in top form again soon.”

    On what started out as a three-week “Y&R” guest spot in 1980, Braeden turned that opportunity into more than 40 seasons as Victor Newman.

    “Young and the Restless” celebrated its 50th anniversary last month, and in honour of that special occasion, Entertainment Tonight and CBS aired “The Young and the Restless 50th Anniversary Celebration”.

    Television soap opera The Young and the Restless is celebrating its fifty years and the Genoa Gala is treating the viewers to a whole lot of surprises, action, and drama. The upcoming episodes won’t be disappointing the loyal fans of the show either. Read on to find out the spoilers as well as highlights for the 28 March 2023 episode of The Young and the Restless.

    The Young and the Restless Spoilers Highlights

    Phyllis, played by Michelle Stafford, is in revenge mode as she teams up with Jeremy Stark, played by James Hyde, against Diane, played by Susan Walters. Phyllis will do whatever it takes to break off Diane’s engagement to Jack, played by Peter Bergman. Though Diane is rattled by Phyllis and her behavior,  she feels better knowing Jack is by her side.

    Victor, played by Eric Braeden, wants Adam, played by Mark Grossman to run McCall Unlimited. Victor will do whatever it takes to ensure that he is successful in buying the company. He offers Jill, played by Jess Walton, some private financing for Chancellor-Winters so she wouldn’t do the Initial Public Offering, thus luring back Devon, played by Bryton James. This is done so Victor can keep Devon away from his father’s company.

    With Victor seizing the opportunity and striking a deal with Jill, will she really be willing to sign? It seems likely. And will this be enough to keep Devon happy enough to stay away from McCall Unlimited? Christine, played by Lauralee Bell, and Nina, played by Tricia Cast, share a long history. Even though Nina has been in town recently to see her son Chance, played by Conner Floyd, and help Dominic, they haven’t really had the chance to spend much time together.

    Now that Christine and Nina have reunited at the bicentennial celebration, the old friends can be expected to catch up and have a gala time at the Genoa Gala. The question remains whether it will be all fun or something will eventually shake them up. 37 of The Young and the Restless’ 50 seasons are available to stream on Amazon Prime.
