Diversity marks the third annual Friendship Day open house at Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre Nashville

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 3, 2017

The Church of Scientology hosted its third annual Friendship Day open house and international potluck dinner Aug. 1, with the participation of many of the ethnicities and nationalities that make up the city of Nashville.

The International Day of Friendship was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011 in the belief that “friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.”

“The whole point of our open house was to bring a diverse group of people together and demonstrate the power of friendship,” says Rev. Brian Fesler, pastor of the Church of Scientology. “Most of life’s problems come from our basic misunderstanding of each other — a misunderstanding of intentions. Getting along with one another starts with getting to know each other.”

The Church of Scientology partnered in this effort with The Way to Happiness Association of Tennessee, which provides a community betterment program based on the book The Way to Happiness by L. Ron Hubbard. The initiative is predicated on the fact that one’s survival depends on the survival of others —and that without the survival of others, neither joy nor happiness is attainable. Several precepts in the book promote dialogue and friendship, among them “Respect the Religious Beliefs of Others,” “Be Worthy of Trust,” and “Try to Treat Others As You Would Want Them to Treat You.”

Honoring Fathers With the Way to Happiness

    [ad_1]

The Way to Happiness Association of Tennessee celebrated Father’s Day by pointing out the importance of honoring one’s parents.

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 22, 2017

“Honor and Help Your Parents” is one of 21 precepts of the common-sense guide to better living, The Way to Happiness. The importance of fathers and their role in society prompted volunteers from The Way to Happiness Association of Tennessee to share this booklet with the community as a Father’s Day gift to parents and children alike.

The Way to Happiness, written by humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard in the early 1980s, invites and promotes responsibility for one’s fellow man across neighborhoods, communities and the world.

“This book spreads a calm that is unparalleled by anything else. It contains common sense moral messages that anyone can agree with and apply,” says Rev. Brian Fesler, Pastor of the Nashville Church of Scientology and regional coordinator for The Way to Happiness Association.

One of the booklet’s precepts is “Honor and Help Your Parents.”

“From a child’s point of view, parents are sometimes hard to understand.

“There are differences between generations. But truthfully, this is no barrier. When one is weak, it is a temptation to take refuge in subterfuges and lies: it is this which builds the wall.

“Children can reconcile their differences with their parents. Before any shouting begins, one can at least try to talk it over quietly. If the child is frank and honest, there cannot help but be an appeal that will reach. It is often possible to attain a compromise where both sides now understand and can agree. It is not always easy to get along with others but one should try.

“One cannot overlook the fact that almost always, parents are acting from a very strong desire to do what they believe to be best for the child.

“Children are indebted to their parents for their upbringing — if the parents did so. While some parents are so fiercely independent that they will accept no return on the obligation, it is nevertheless true that there often comes a time when it is the turn of the younger generation to care for their parents.

“In spite of all, one must remember that they are the only parents one has. And as such, no matter what, one should honor them and help them.

“The way to happiness includes being on good terms with one’s parents or those who brought one up.”

The Way to Happiness was written in 1981. Immensely popular since its first publication, the campaign has been embraced by more than 250,000 groups and individuals, with some 115 million copies distributed in 115 languages in 186 nations.

Sharing the Secret of Happiness on World Happiness Day

    [ad_1]

The Church of Scientology Life Improvement Center in Downtown Seattle and the Seattle chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation joined forces by sharing a simple guide to better living with hundreds of people on International Day of Happiness.

    Press Release

    updated: Apr 5, 2017

Volunteers from the Seattle chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation distributed hundreds of copies of The Way to Happiness in and around Seattle’s iconic Pike Place Market March 20 in celebration of United Nations International Day of Happiness.

The General Assembly of the United Nations, in a resolution on July 12, 2012, proclaimed International Day of Happiness, “recognizing the relevance of happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations in the lives of human beings around the world.” But although the pursuit of happiness has been recognized as an inalienable right since the Declaration of Independence in 1776, just how to accomplish that goal has remained a mystery to many.

You are important to other people. You are listened to. You can influence others.

    L. Ron Hubbard, author and humanitarian

Following his sociological research in the late 1970s, author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard observed, “Across the planet, old social values have been broken. New moral values have not replaced them. The world of cultural dignity today is in a state of disintegration… Taught to believe he is but a beast, he is now becoming convinced that he is the helpless victim of his own passions. Almost lost is one of Man’s finest intellectual abilities: to live with dignity and honor.”

His response was the 1981 publication of The Way to Happinessa common-sense moral code whose 21 precepts can be put to use by anyone of any culture, ethnic or belief.

“True joy and happiness are valuable,” he wrote in the first chapter of the book. “If one does not survive, no joy and no happiness are obtainable. Trying to survive in a chaotic, dishonest and generally immoral society is difficult… You are important to other people. You are listened to. You can influence others… While no one can guarantee that anyone else can be happy, their chances of survival and happiness can be improved. And with theirs, yours will be. It is in your power to point the way to a less dangerous and happier life.”

With International Day of Happiness, the United Nations encourages people to be active in making this a happier world. The Seattle volunteers are part of a movement spanning 186 countries and 115 languages where individuals, wishing to make a difference, do so by sharing this guide to better living with friends, family members and total strangers.

“…by giving it, you can change the entire society,” said Mr. Hubbard. “If people were put in communication with one another and could give each other a way to happiness, yes, the world would change.”

Immensely popular since its first publication, the book has been embraced by more than 250,000 groups and individuals. The Church of Scientology and its members are proud to share the tools for happier living contained in The Way to Happiness.

Volunteers from the Church of Scientology Athens urge common sense in the face of hardships imposed by seven years of austerity measures with no end in sight.

According to the Manpower Agency of Greece, 40.34 percent of those ages 30-44 are unemployed. • Reversing Moral Decline in India

    Reversing Moral Decline in India

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Nov 15, 2016

New Delhi businessman Rohit Sharma was deeply troubled by the moral collapse in his country: rape cases doubled between 1990 and 2008 and murders have more than tripled over the last 60 years.

Looking for something he could do to reverse the decline and restore a sense of decency to the people of his country, in 2007 Sharma found The Way to Happiness, a nonreligious commonsense moral code written by Church of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard that lays out 21 fundamental precepts anyone of any faith can use as a road map for a better life.

Sharma found The Way to Happiness had a profound effect on his outlook, and the way he viewed and treated others. This inspired him to see what it could do for others. He delivered his first seminar on the subject, using the award-winning The Way to Happiness book-on-film and public service announcements to 100 students in Vinay Nagar Bengali secondary school.

Much to the surprise and delight of their teachers, the students, listened with rapt attention. Many vowed to adopt these precepts. One student wrote, “I will start living my life on these principles because, after seeing this, I realized that everyone has to follow the rules to become a disciplined person and be successful.”

Sharma was soon delivering the lecture in schools across New Delhi and, at an annual teacher’s conference, trained some 600 teachers and principals, an event that made headlines in the Hindustan Times. Before long, he had trained more than 2,500 educators who brought The Way to Happiness to more than 110,000 students in some 900 schools.

Sharma next approached the police. After receiving a presentation on the program, the New Delhi Deputy Commissioner ordered 10,000 copies of The Way to Happiness with custom covers bearing the police’s logo. The booklets created so much impact, Sharma was asked to bring the workshop to police in every district of the city.

The New Delhi Traffic Division decided to make The Way to Happiness the core of their citywide program to reform drunk drivers and traffic offenders, 55,000 of whom they have put through the program. Many were so pleased with what they learned they thanked the police for the “penalty.”

In honor of United Nations International Day of Happiness, The Way to Happiness Foundation and police teamed up to host a massive parade, attended by some 2,500. Launched by a member of Indian Parliament, the parade aired to 60 million viewers on DD1 National TV.

Sharma has trained more than 3,000 police and every branch of Indian law enforcement has now embraced the booklet. He has distributed more than 58,000 booklets across 16 states of India, and has reached more than 70 million people with the booklet’s message with the help of national media.

Sharma next plans to travel to each of India’s 29 states to introduce the campaign to all schools and police departments in his bid for a better India.

“I have had 100 percent success wherever I have gone with The Way to Happiness,” he says.

Immensely popular since its first publication in 1981, some 115 million copies of The Way to Happiness have been distributed in 115 languages in 186 nations and the campaign has been embraced by more than 250,000 individuals and groups.

The Way to Happiness is one of a number of humanitarian programs supported by the Church of Scientology. The Scientology religion was founded by L. Ron Hubbard, and the first Church of Scientology was formed in Los Angeles in 1954. Since then, the religion has expanded to more than 11,000 Churches, Missions and affiliated groups, with millions of members in 167 countries.

Retired army veteran Jason Martin recently visited La Ceiba, Honduras, where he distributed copies of The Way to Happiness to those in need.

    Press Release

    Sep 29, 2016

Retired army veteran Jason Martin traveled from Nashville, Tennessee, to Honduras to complete construction of a house for missionaries, doctors and advisers. But as valuable as this project was, his trip soon turned into something even more meaningful.

The World Bank lists Honduras as one of the poorest, most vulnerable countries in the world, with 63 percent living in poverty. Unable to eke out a living, many resort to crime.

The Honduras murder rate rivals the worst on Earth, driven by street gangs who move U.S.-bound cocaine through the country from South America. In fact, less than 200 miles from La Ceiba, the city of San Pedro Sula was dubbed “murder capital of the world” in 2014 and is still among the worst cities on the list today.

“I decided I wanted to share The Way to Happiness with those living in poverty-stricken circumstances,” says Martin.

Familiar with the booklet from his studies at the Church of Scientology Nashville, he picked up copies as a way to help the La Ceiba community.

The Way to Happiness is a commonsense moral code, written in 1981 by humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard. As described on The Way to Happiness website, “This code of conduct can be followed by anyone, of any race, color or creed and works to restore the bonds that unite humankind.”

Its precepts include practical know-how on reducing crime and improving conditions in life.

Martin distributed the booklets, but ran into many who could not read. So he took things a step further by setting up a small group where precepts were read aloud. The group then discussed them, so all could achieve full understanding of what they contain.

In the three decades since the booklet was authored it has sparked a global movement, with 115 million copies of the booklet passed hand to hand in 186 nations.

The Seattle Chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation celebrated Friendship Day by reaching out to their community with the common-sense moral code that helps create lasting friendships by instilling decency and respect.

    Press Release

    Aug 3, 2016

In the spirit of friendship, volunteers from the Seattle chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation passed out copies of The Way to Happiness at the world-famous Pike Place Market and in downtown Seattle on Friendship Day 2016.

Written by author and humanitarian L. Ron HubbardThe Way to Happiness is a common-sense moral code containing 21 basic principles for a better quality of life.

“On this International Day of Friendship, let us resolve to cherish and cultivate as many warm relationships as possible, enriching our own lives and enhancing the future.”

    Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General

The Way to Happiness is part of our campaign to uplift neighborhoods in Washington State and forms a guideline that anyone can use to take charge of their lives,” said the group’s coordinator. Nonreligious in nature, this booklet is used by people of virtually every culture and creed and empowers individuals to help others and make a difference in their neighborhoods and beyond.

In each booklet they handed out, Seattle volunteers placed a flier that explained the purpose of this U.N. day. International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the U.N. General Assembly because “friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.”

In his Friendship Day statement, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said, “When greed supersedes concerns about the health of our planet or its inhabitants, when fanatic attachment to ideology is pursued at all costs, and when people suffer human rights violations because they are considered somehow less than equal, the heritage of humanity is betrayed and our future wellbeing is placed in peril…. On this International Day of Friendship, let us resolve to cherish and cultivate as many warm relationships as possible, enriching our own lives and enhancing the future.”

Over the past year, Washington State volunteers have distributed 10,000 copies of The Way to Happiness, placing them in the hands of individuals and giving booklets to hundreds of businesses for the use and benefit of their customers.

The Way to Happiness was written in 1981. Immensely popular since its first publication, the campaign has been embraced by more than 250,000 groups and individuals, with some 115 million copies distributed in 115 languages in 186 nations.

The Kaohsiung chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation puts the precept “Safeguard and Improve Your Environment” into practical terms with a cleanup of Cijin Beach.

    Press Release

    Jul 28, 2016

Taking a tip from The Way to Happiness, a group of volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Kaohsiung spent a recent afternoon cleaning up a section of the city’s famous Cijin Beach.

Just off the coast of Kaohsiung, Cijin Island is a popular destination where tourists and local residents enjoy the swimming, the beautiful sandy beach, the expansive view, and what has been described as the best fresh seafood in the city.

Like many Scientology Churches around the world, the Church of Scientology Kaohsiung sponsors a chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation, where members adopt areas around their city to help keep them clean and beautiful.

One of the precepts of this common sense moral code includes taking care of the environment:

“Care of the planet begins in one’s own front yard. It extends through the area one travels to get to school or work. It covers such places as where one picnics or goes on vacation. The litter which messes up the terrain and water supply, the dead brush which invites fire, these are things one need not contribute to and which, in otherwise idle moments, one can do something about.”

The Church of Scientology Kaohsiung, an Ideal Scientology Organization (Org), opened in December 2013. For the past 12 years the Scientology Church and Missions of Taiwan have been awarded the Ministry of Interior’s Excellent Religious Group Award for their volunteer activities that include cleanups such as this, and its extensive drug prevention and human rights education initiatives. The Church’s team of Scientology Volunteer Ministers respond to natural and manmade disasters and provide one-on-one help to anyone in need.

Rival Gangs Declare Peace in South Los Angeles

    [ad_1]

The Church of Scientology Community Center was the site of a historic summit of gang leaders held Sunday, July 17, in the name of peace. Now a new video and weekly conflict resolution meetings are giving a future and substance to the dream shared by the 2,500 people who attended the summit.

    Press Release

    Jul 25, 2016

History was made as rival Southern California gang leaders met at the Church of Scientology Community Center in South Los Angeles July 17 to discuss making peace on the streets.

Famous rapper and actor The Game ignited it with his Instagram invitation: “On behalf of myself@SnoopDogg, & the honorable @louisfarrakhan,” he called on “all CRIPS, BLOODS, ESE’s & all other gang members, major figures & GANG LEADERS from every hood in our city…to have the much needed conversation amongst ourselves about our influence on the youth in our respective neighborhoods & how we can serve as better role models to them & the brothers we stand beside daily.”

When it’s a gun pointed at you, and it’s cocked back, and you know the only thing standing between you and the gun is God, why you wait until then to start praying, wishing, hoping.

    The Game

Some 2,500 responded to his invitation by arriving at the summit. The message was carried throughout the community by announcements on 92.3 FM/REAL by radio host Big Boy, flyers put out by scores of community groups and churches, and word of mouth.

The Game was joined by Will.i.am, Big Boy, rapper the Problem, Nation of Islam Minister Tony Muhammad, who organized the event, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Police Chief Charles Beck and religious leaders of diverse denominations.

It was a gathering of rival gang members, cops, gang interventionists, and the families and friends of gang victims. Yet through the entire afternoon, not a single act of violence took place.

When Minister Tony Muhammad called on all who want peace and unity to raise their fists, every arm was raised. He described what they accomplished this day as being “like the cracking of an atom. It sparked something in everybody. It sparked the spirit of hope that once again we’re at a pivotal point in our history and we can make a difference in our own community.”

The next step, a strategy session and conflict resolution workshop, was scheduled for July 21, at the Scientology Community Center.

The Game put the violence in perspective when he said, “When it’s a gun pointed at you, and it’s cocked back, and you know the only thing standing between you and the gun is God, why you wait until then to start praying, wishing, hoping. It only takes a second to lose your life.” And he pointed out that peace in South L.A. will spread, because L.A. writes the passage for everything that happens, positive or negative.

Founder of the Detours gang intervention organization, Rev. Benny “Taco” Owens, said “I’ve never seen a crowd like this unless I was in prison or a chow hall. I see a lot of faces that I’ve never seen come together like this before…. This is a very, very critical moment in our city and our lives.”

In a graphic example of change, a Blood and a Crip took off their red and blue T-shirts, handed them to each other and embraced in friendship.

The second chapter in this movement was written Thursday, July 21, beginning with a video published by The Game and Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck.

“Last year in the city of Los Angeles, almost 1,000 people were shot. Almost 300 of them died,” begins the police chief, who points out that 80 percent of the victims and 80 percent of the shooters were young men of color.

“We have to be more positive. We have to stop killing one another,” says The Game. “Let’s unite. Make a difference. Be the change.”

And the movement continued that evening with a strategy conference and conflict resolution workshop at the Scientology Community Center attended by community activists determined to keep the passion for peace alive.

Community Center Director Stormy Stokes opened the program by pointing out that this community has already shown that it can be the change.

“It has been proven over and over again with our Peace Rides over the past four years that our peace materials—The Way to Happiness booklets and The Million Man March Pledge—bring down crime when they are distributed in great volume throughout this city. In 2014, the homicide rate went down to its lowest point in more than 50 years. So now we are going to do it again.”

Ms. Stokes announced that this event will be the first of weekly conflict resolution workshops at Community Center. “We will make our city a safer place for our families and children.”

An open house on environmental issues focused on the connection between environmental crime and morality and a humanitarian program the Church supports to instill moral values.

    Press Release

    Jul 12, 2016

A community open house held in one of the seminar rooms at the Church of Scientology of Rome promoted the importance of environmental responsibility. Emceed by the Church’s Social Reform Officer, speakers discussed environmental issues from their own unique perspective. They included a professor of philosophy and sociology, an attorney, and a retired police officer.

According to the United Nations’ World Environment Day (WED) website, the dollar value of eco-crime outstripped illegal trade in small arms this year at an estimated $258 billion. This is 26 percent higher than previous estimates.

The WED website also points out that:

    • More than one quarter of the world’s elephant population has been killed in the last decade.
    • Some of the world’s most vulnerable wildlife such as rhinos and elephants are being killed at a rate that has grown by more than 25 percent every year in the past decade.
    • Money generated from the illegal exploitation of natural resources funds rebel groups, terrorist networks and international criminal cartels.

It was clear from each of the presentations at the forum that environmental irresponsibility is first and foremost a moral issue—a matter of personal choice. No matter how many regulations and laws exist, without a moral compass there is nothing to restrain people from destroying the natural resources we hold in trust for future generations.

To address this and other pressing moral issues, the Church supports distribution of The Way to Happiness—a nonreligious moral code based entirely on common sense. Written in 1981 by author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard and published in 111 languages, it fills the void in an increasingly immoral society.

St. Petersburg volunteers share The Way to Happiness with those celebrating Russia Day.

    Press Release

    Jul 11, 2016

Volunteers from The Way to Happiness Association of St. Petersburg celebrated Russia Day by sharing copies of the nonreligious common sense moral code The Way to Happiness. And for good reason.

The lack of a moral compass is a common denominator in many of the social and personal issues that create stress and duress in people’s lives. It is what underlies corruption, crime, corporate greed and drug abuse—even divorce.

More than half of Russian marriages end in divorce and according to the Russian Public Opinion Research Center, 24 percent are torn apart by infidelity and another 16 percent by alcoholism or drug abuse.

So despite unseasonably chilly weather, wind and rain, the volunteers handed out hundreds of copies of The Way to Happiness and set up an easel on St. Petersburg’s Bolshaya Konushennaya St. where people so people could write down their favorite precept. They also gave them a second copy of the booklet to give to a family member or friend.

Written by author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, the 21 precepts of The Way to Happiness can be applied by anyone of any faith.

The Way to Happiness Association is supported by the Church of Scientology St. Peterburg. The Church and its members are proud to share the tools for happier living contained in The Way to Happiness with all who also have the goal of a better world.

A former gang member was the featured speaker at a crime prevention seminar at the Church of Scientology London. He spoke of surviving a stabbing and about his life—in and out of prison. And he told those attending the seminar how The Way to Happiness helped him turn his life around. His frank presentation made a visible impact on those attending the program at the Church’s Queen Victoria Street headquarters.

Another young man spoke of being stabbed twice. He described how he cut all lines to his former friends, came to London to create a new life, and happened to walked into the Church of Scientology where he learned of The Way to Happiness. He enrolled on a course that helped him grasp and apply its principles and spoke of how positive he felt when he finished it. He could see purpose in his life. If he had been shown the book when he was young, he felt sure he would not have led a life of crime.

One can feel that things are such now that it is much too late to do anything, that one’s past road is so messed up that there is no chance of drawing a future one that will be any different: there is always a point on the road when one can map a new one. And try to follow it. There is no person alive who cannot make a new beginning.

    L. Ron Hubbard, author, humanitarian and founder of the Scientology religion

Written by author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard, The Way to Happiness is a unique moral code—the first work of its kind based wholly on common sense. It appeals to its readers to apply its precepts in their daily lives.

And it has a very special message for inmates and ex-offenders. In the book’s epilogue, Mr. Hubbard wrote:

“One can feel that things are such now that it is much too late to do anything, that one’s past road is so messed up that there is no chance of drawing a future one that will be any different: there is always a point on the road when one can map a new one. And try to follow it. There is no person alive who cannot make a new beginning.”

The Church of Scientology makes copies of The Way to Happiness available free of charge to community groups, educators and law enforcement along with an Educators Guide, posters and other materials.

Several attendees originated wanting to use these materials to help address crime in their communities, including one who wants to deliver The Way to Happiness program in Wormwood Scrubs prison.

Seminar Covers Simple Steps to Achieve Happiness

The Church of Scientology Pretoria teamed up with a local business executive to help people find happiness, using the nonreligious moral code The Way to Happiness.

    Press Release

    Jun 20, 2016

Most people rank happiness among the most important things in life, yet few achieve it. For example, a recent survey found a third of Americans feel trapped in their current career.

The Wall Street Journal reports, “Having to work hard in a job you feel stuck in is energy draining at best and… associated with higher illness at worst.”

And happiness at work is not one a personal issue. According a 2012 report published by the Stanford Graduate School of Business, it affects the lives of other employees, their families and the community because of the influence it has on the success of the business itself. It reports, “employee happiness leads to increased productivity, increased generation of innovative ideas, fewer sick days, higher income, favorable evaluations from supervisors, and a more supportive working atmosphere. Customer happiness leads to company loyalty, increased spending on company products, and even customer-driven marketing”

This year’s World Happiness Report addressed this problem, saying we “need a new ethics which incorporates the best values to be found in all religions, but which is equally convincing to people with no religious faith at all.”

The Church of Scientology Pretoria hosted a program June 6 addressing this very issue. More than 100 local business people attending a seminar on The Way to Happiness, a nonreligious moral code written by author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard containing 21 precepts anyone may use to create a happier life.

Director of Special Affairs Maurithus Meiring played several brief videos that illustrate The Way to Happiness precepts and led a discussion on how this moral code can help their employees achieve greater happiness by encouraging them to uphold these standards at work and in life.

Spreading “The Way to Happiness” Message for World Environment Day

Volunteers encouraged fellow Sacramentans to help take care of the planet on World Environment Day.

    Press Release

    Jun 12, 2016

In recognition of World Environment Day, volunteers from the Sacramento Chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation organized an information booth to promote the precept “Safeguard and Improve your Environment.”

Held June 5th each year World Environment Day (WED) is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Since its adoption by the United Nation in 1974, World Environment Day has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

The Way to Happiness Foundation chose the precept “Help Take Care of the Planet” as their WED message. This is one of the principles of The Way to Happiness, a nonreligious moral code based entirely on common sense

“We want to create a better world,” said the Sacramento Foundation director, adding that the booklet, penned by author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard, addresses cultural problems in a society in need of help.

Mr. Hubbard wrote, “There are many things one can do to help take care of the planet. They begin with the idea that one should. They progress with suggesting to others they should.” And by bringing the booklet to the attention of those attending a local festival, that was exactly what these volunteers did.

The Church of Scientology and its members are proud to share the tools for happier living contained in The Way to Happiness with all who seek to make the world a better place. The campaign to distribute the book has been embraced by more than 257,000 groups and individuals, with some 115 million copies given out in 186 nations.

  • The Way to Happiness Reinforces Importance of Ethics, Values for New Delhi Police Trainees

The Way to Happiness Reinforces Importance of Ethics, Values for New Delhi Police Trainees

    [ad_1]

Workshop provides tools trainees will use throughout careers.

    Press Release

    updated: Jan 27, 2016

Some 200 police training school students in New Delhi attended a The Way to Happiness workshop, taking home lessons about ethics and values to help them as future officers and throughout life.

As with any other metropolitan areas in the world, those living in the modern, growing residential community of Dwarka, in Dehli, India, depend upon the ethical standards of their law enforcement officers to establish order and protect residents.

I think that The Way to Happiness is very important to make us realize what we forget in our day-to-day life. We start to forget those important values we were brought up with as we grow older. As we focus on our careers and concentrate on earning more money, these moral and ethical values can begin to fade from our lives. Then as we grow older and have our own children we try to teach them about ethics and values, but when we ourselves have not followed them, how will our children do so?

    PROGRAM TRAINEE

To orient new officers-in-training to moral principles that will help them succeed, a deputy chief of police arranged a workshop for 200 trainees at the police training school in Dwarka. The workshop took the students through the commonsense moral guide authored by L. Ron Hubbard, The Way to Happiness and its 21 precepts that anyone can apply.

With intense participation, each police trainee took a close look at how they apply or fail to apply the booklet’s 21 moral principles.

The workshop was delivered by the Executive Director of The Way to Happiness Foundation of India, Mr. Rohit Sharma, who has introduced the booklet into police departments throughout India.

The workshops were lively with student participation, as trainees shared examples from their experiences of how they used the precepts and what happened when they didn’t. At the end, each was invited to write up their feedback on the program.

“I think that The Way to Happiness is very important to make us realize what we forget in our day-to-day life,” wrote one of the trainees. “We start to forget those important values we were brought up with as we grow older. As we focus on our careers and concentrate on earning more money, these moral and ethical values can begin to fade from our lives. Then as we grow older and have our own children we try to teach them about ethics and values, but when we ourselves have not followed them, how will our children do so?

“So, I think it is important to review The Way to Happiness from time to time. This kind of seminar is a very good way to look at our own commitments and promises, and confront ourselves and our mistakes.”

Immensely popular since its first publication in 1981, more than 100 million copies have since been distributed in 205 countries and territories, providing a moral compass for all to live by.
