    • A packet of dry onion soup mix

This is a super simple dish to make since it is made in the crock pot. One thing to remember is all roast times will vary. The last time I made it, it took the roast almost 10 hours to be shreddable. So you need to cook the roast until you can shred it.

    LUNCH LADY BROWNIES

    [ad_1]

These Lunch Lady Brownies are the best for a reason! If you haven’t tried these.. what are you waiting for?!?!?

    Lunch Lady BrowniesLunch Lady Brownies

    ❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

We love this recipe because these brownies are incredible! I have never served them that someone hasn’t asked for the recipe. The frosting is the best and takes these brownies to the next level.

    🍴KEY INGREDIENTS

    • Unsweetened cocoa
    • All-purpose flour
    • Granulated sugar
    • Eggs
    • Butter
    • Vanilla
    • Evaporated Milk or real milk
    • Powdered sugar

As you can see there are not many ingredients in these brownies! That is always a plus!

    🍽️HOW TO MAKE

    Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9X13 baking dish with foil and spray with a non stick cooking spray. I like to use Pam. Combine cocoa and melted butter in bowl and mix with an electric mixer. Then add flour and sugar and continue to beat together. Next add eggs and vanilla. Mix until combined, but don’t over mix. The batter will be thick.

    Step 2
Next spread into prepared baking dish and spread evenly. The batter will be thick, so this may take a moment. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until fork inserted in center comes out clean. It took mine exactly 30 minutes, but all ovens vary.

    Step 3
Let cool 15 minutes and add frosting. You will want the brownies warm when you add the frosting. Full recipe in printable recipe card below!

    ⭐TIP

Add pecans for a real treat! You can also add less sugar to the frosting, see notes in the recipe card.

    • 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa
    • 2 cups of all purpose flour
    • 2 cups of granulated sugar
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1 cup of butter melted
    • 4 teaspoons of vanilla

    Frosting Ingredients:

    • 1/4 cup of evaporated milk or real milk I used evaporated
    • 1/4 cup of butter softened
    • 3 cups of powdered sugar
    • 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa
    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. • Let cool 15 minutes and add frosting. You will want the brownies warm when you add the frosting.

    Frosting Instructions

    • Beat together all frosting ingredients until smooth. Pour and spread over brownies. Let them completely cool before cutting. If you find that your frosting is too thick, you can always add a little more milk to get the right consistency before spreading over the brownies.

I added pecans to my most recent batch and they were delicious! If you like nuts in your brownies add them.
I also only used 1.5 cups of powdered sugar for the frosting and that worked well too.

    Unstuffed Pepper SkilletUnstuffed Pepper Skillet

One of our most popular recipes is the Stuffed Green Peppers! If you haven’t tried our recipe, you should, it has many 5 star reviews and delicious!

    ❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

We love how easy this recipe is to make. You can use precooked rice if you to save on some time. This dish reheats well and it has a great flavor. Great for a busy week as you can enjoy this for a few nights in a row.

    🍴KEY INGREDIENTS

    • Italian Sausage
    • White onion
    • Green peppers
    • Italian Style diced tomatoes
    • Beef broth
    • White rice, uncooked – see notes
    • Garlic
    • Italian seasoning
    • Black pepper

    SWAPS

You can easily switch up the meat, use ground beef or ground turkey. If you don’t have beef broth you can use chicken broth.

    🍽️HOW TO MAKE

This dish is really easy to make and of our favorites!

    Step 1
In large skillet, brown sausage, onion and garlic over medium heat for about 4-6 minutes. Next add in peppers, Italian seasoning and pepper. You may have to drain the fat off of the meat you use, I did’t have to with this sausage.

    Step 2
Cook until peppers are beginning to soften, then add both cans of diced tomatoes and beef broth, mix well and bring to a boil. Once the mixture is boiling add in your uncooked rice and continue to boil for another minute or two, then turn down heat, cover and let simmer for 30-35 minutes.

    Step 3
I did stir this a few times to ensure the rice was mixed in well with the juices and cooking. Also you will have to check to make sure your rice is cooked, times may vary.  Top with cheese if you desire.

    Notes:
To make this process easier use precooked rice, you will need 2 cups of cooked rice. I would  bring mixture to a boil, let simmer for 25 minutes then add the precooked rice. You could also make rice on the side and serve this dish over rice. Either way it will still be delicious!

Best Classic Meatloaf – The Southern Lady Cooks

    [ad_1]

This fantastic homemade meatloaf is a recipe your family will love. A classic meatloaf recipe, tender and juicy, with a wonderful ketchup topping. Try this delicious meatloaf; you won’t regret it.

    Best MeatloafBest Meatloaf

You can’t have meatloaf without a delicious side of creamy mashed potatoes. This recipe goes great with this dish and don’t forget this creamy macaroni and cheese. It’s a wonderful addition too!

❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS MEATLOAF RECIPE

This recipe is made with quick-cooking oats, which we feel give it a great texture and help bind it really well. It also helps keep the meatloaf moist and that is always a plus! This recipe has been in our family for many years and my Grandmother made it every family reunion.

    🍴KEY INGREDIENTS

    • Hamburger
    • Onion
    • Celery
    • Green Pepper
    • Pepper
    • Salt
    • Garlic Powder
    • Ground Cumin
    • Chili Powder
    • Worcestershire Sauce
    • Few drops of hot sauce
    • Quick Cooking Oats
    • Milk
    • Ketchup
    • Cooking spray

    SWAPS

These are not really swaps, but if you don’t like onions you can leave them out, same with the green pepper. Personally all the ingredients go well together, but you can definitely make this recipe your own.

    🍽️HOW TO MAKE MEATLOAF

We make our meatloaf in a casserole dish, you can make it in a loaf pan if you like. We feel it works well in a dish but it’s just personal preference. It may change the cooking time in a loaf pan so be aware of that.

    COOKING STEPS

    Step 1
Combine all ingredients except ketchup and make into a loaf.

    Step 2
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until meat is no longer pink.

    Step 3
Remove from the oven and cover the top of the meatloaf with ketchup and put under the broiler for 3 minutes.

    Best MeatloafBest Meatloaf

    ⭐TIPS

    • Don’t overmix, it will result in a tough meatloaf
    • We use 85/15 ground beef. You can use what you like but this works well for us and seems to hold together well and we love the taste!
    • We like to let the meatloaf rest about 10-15 minutes before serving. It helps it not to dry out.
    • We like making it in a baking pan and feel it does work better than a loaf pan.

    RECIPE VARIATIONS

If you have followed our website for any amount of time, you know our Brown Sugar Meatloaf is one of our most popular recipes. We agree with you.. it is FANTASTIC.. but this meatloaf is great too. You should try both! If you love hearty dishes, try this Hamburger Supreme Casserole, it’s a winner too!

    SERVE THIS WITH

As we stated above, this dish is great with mashed potatoes, but if you want to try something new, this Mashed Potato Casserole is always good. This classic Green Beans and Potatoes is a wonderful side dish too, especially with fresh green beans.
