To celebrate Father’s Day, Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton released a new photo of their children.

William, 41, admired a beachfront view, wrapping his arms around sons Prince George, 10, and Prince Louis, 5, and daughter Princess Charlotte, 9, in the photo posted via social media on Sunday, June 16. The family members all wore casual shorts and blue shirts with William also sporting a baseball cap.

Kate, 42, who is a self-proclaimed “amateur” photographer, took the portrait earlier this year. The upload’s caption, in a major royal first, was written by George, Charlotte and Louis.

“We love you, Papa. Happy Father’s Day 💕G, C & L,” they wrote, signing off the note with their respective first initials.

The Princess of Wales confirmed in March that she had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer two months earlier and was advised to undergo a preventive course of chemotherapy. She canceled all public engagements to focus on her recovery.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” Kate later wrote in a Friday, June 14, statement. “On those bad days, you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

She continued, “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.”

Kate also hopes to “join a few public engagements” later this summer as she feels well enough, but specific scheduling details have not been confirmed.

Lord Ivar Mountbatten is gaining attention after he was announced as one of the many contestants on The Traitors.

Alan Cumming announced on the Today Show Wednesday, June 4, that Mountbatten would be joining season 3 of the competition series alongside reality TV veterans Boston Rob Mariano, Danielle Reyes, Tom Sandoval, Chrishelle Stause and more, among a total of 21 contestants. While Mountbatten hasn’t made a name for himself on TV, he has become well-known as an extended member — and the first openly gay member — of the royal family.

Ivar, who was born in March 1963, is the son of David Mountbatten, who is the 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven, and Janet Mercedes Bryce. Through his father, Ivar is the grandson of Prince George of Battenberg and the great-great-great-grandson of Queen Victoria. Ivar’s father was the cousin of Prince Philip who married Queen Elizabeth II in 1947, making Ivar the first cousin once removed of Philip, a third cousin once removed of Elizabeth and a second cousin of King Charles III.

Get ready The Traitors fans, a new group of faithfuls and traitors are walking into Alan Cumming’s castle. Peacock announced on Wednesday, June 5, that the season 3 cast will include Tom Sandoval, Robyn Dixon, Dolores Catania, Wells Adams, Tony Vlachos, Carolyn Wiger, Britney Haynes and more. Rob Mariano (Boston Rob), Dorinda Medley, Chrishell Stause, […]

Ivar has been candid about how he considered Philip to be a father figure to him after his dad died in 1970.

“In later years, I would sit with him and ask endless questions about my father. It was wonderful to have someone who could tell me everything about him,” he said to The Telegraph in April 2021. “Prince Philip was a wonderful listener; you could tell him anything as long as you were being honest and forthright. He was happy to listen to your thoughts. But if he had some advice he thought you ought to hear, he’d give it to you.”

As a member of the extended family, Ivar does not have any royal duties. He has previously worked as a geologist and businessman. Ivar is also the former director of the SCL Group, which was a strategic communication company. While Ivar is a member of the royal family, he understands why he is not involved in royal events as much as he once was a child.

“The family has got very large,” he told Tatler in 2019. “When we were younger we went to royal events all the time. But now that everyone has had children, quite rightly everything has slimmed down.”

While Ivar isn’t active with the royals, he does have a close relationship with some of them. He has maintained bonds with King Charles’ youngest brother Prince Edward and his wife Duchess Sophie. Ivar is the godfather to Edward and Sophie’s daughter Lady Louise Windsor.

Edward and Sophie are the godparents to two of Ivar’s children, daughters Ella and Alix, whom he shares with ex-wife Penny Mountbatten. (The exes, who split in 2011, also share daughter Luli.)

Ivar made history in 2016 when he became the first member of the royal family to openly be in a same-sex relationship with now-husband James Coyle. The couple tied the knot in 2018 and were the first British royals to have a same-sex wedding. While chatting with The Independent in 2023, Ivar shared that his family “was incredibly supportive” about his and Coyle’s relationship.

  • Tom Selleck Recalls Dancing With Princess Diana

Tom Selleck Recalls Dancing With Princess Diana

    Gary Gershoff

Princess Diana and John Travolta made history when they danced together at the White House in 1985, but few might recall that Magnum, P.I. star Tom Selleck also took her for a spin on the dance floor.

In his new memoir, You Never Know, Selleck, 79 — who played mustachioed TV detective Thomas Magnum for eight seasons in the 1980s — recalled dancing with the Princess of Wales at a state dinner thrown in honor of her and her then-husband, Prince Charles (now King Charles III). President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan hosted the November 9 soiree, inviting three Hollywood actors: Selleck, Travolta, 70, and Clint Eastwood.

Selleck remembered being “anxious” to meet Charles, now 75, and the late Diana, though he quickly relaxed in their presence, Hello! reported. Both royals put him at ease and he found Diana to be “charming, graceful, and beautiful” while Charles impressed him with his ability “of making you feel like you were important to him in your moment together.”

After dinner, the gala guests moved into the East Room, where Travolta twirled Diana and showed off his famous footwork. The princess grinned from ear to ear and stunned in an off-the-shoulder, dark blue Victor Edelstein gown that became known as the “Travolta dress.”

Princess Diana is memorable for many reasons, one of which is her style. Whether the Princess of Wales dressed casually in a pair of jeans or went full glam in a gown, she always did so with style and grace.

Soon, a woman approached Selleck with an urgent request. According to the actor, she was “speaking very rapidly” and asked him to cut in.

“Mr. Travolta and the princess are dancing for a second time together,” she told Selleck, according to his autobiography, released earlier this month. “We can’t have that. We don’t want to start rumors, do we? Mr. Selleck, you must step in and replace him.”

“I’M NOT CUTTING IN ON JOHN TRAVOLTA!” he replied, recounting how he spoke with “probably too loud a voice.”

Ultimately, he caved to the woman’s demand and hit the floor with Diana. She “was lovely,” he wrote, “and there was a very shy quality about her in spite of her being well schooled in the art of conversation.”

Still, Diana managed to diffuse the awkwardness with friendly small talk.

“I gotta say she seemed to be having the time of her life,” he added. “I was relieved she talked most of the time. Let’s just say it was not my finest hour as a conversationalist.”

Selleck brought his then-girlfriend, Jillie Mack, whom he married in 1987, as his date to the dinner. She got to dance with the future king.

“The prince asked Jillie for a second dance,” wrote the actor, who went on to star in the CBS police procedural Blue Bloods. “Clint took over for me, and I got to dance with my friend Nancy [Reagan].”

“She was relaxed, and I was relaxed. They were playing a song from the 1940s. I wish I could remember what it was, because Nancy was quietly singing along. What a nice way to end the evening.”

Duchess Sophie is fast emerging as one of the most important royals as she embarked on a war-torn mission reminiscent of the late Princess Diana.

Sophie, 59, has seen her status elevated at lightning speed since King Charles III turned to her and his brother, her husband Prince Edward, for help in public-facing duties as he undergoes treatment for cancer.

Since then, the duchess has done an iconic walk across Abbey Road in the footsteps of the legendary The Beatles last week and was by Edward’s side as he led a historic military event at Buckingham Palace on April 8 on the king’s behalf.

Now, she’s been the first royal to visit Ukraine amid the ongoing brutal war there following the country’s invasion by Russia.

Prince William laughed and told knock-knock jokes amid his family heartache in a surprise London outing this morning.

The Prince of Wales, 41, looked in his element as he rocked up at a school after one of the students sent him an invitation, which he initially had to turn down.

William visited the West Midlands on Thursday, April 25, where he is carrying out engagements and visiting projects that are supporting people’s mental health.

But he made sure that his first stop was the St Michael’s School, where student-led initiatives are available to kids there to support their mental health.

Marking World Mental Health Day back in October, student Freddie Hadley sent the prince a personal letter inviting him to the school. In the letter, Freddie explained that a group of boys aged 11-14 meet every week to develop ideas and projects that put a spotlight on male mental health.

He invited the future king to the school for the launch of a campaign last October, but unfortunately, the royal was unable to make it due to a prior engagement.

On arrival today, William congratulated Freddie for his efforts and told him: “Well done you, I’m here now. Your letter worked. I’m sorry I couldn’t come to you in October.”

The two then joined other children to record a segment for the school’s radio station and the prince was asked to share a “dad jokes.” He proceeded to tell knock-knock jokes, which he said were Princess Charlotte’s favorite.

Today’s engagements mark the second public outing for William since wife Princess Kate Middleton revealed she was undergoing cancer treatment. Last week, he returned to royal duties by helping to load a food truck and cooking in the kitchen at food distribution charity Surplus.

Rose Hanbury’s Controversy Details After Prince William Rumors

Rose Hanbury might be a main character in a dominant conspiracy surrounding British royals — and this time it’s not rooted in infidelity rumors.

Hanbury, 40, has been making headlines for her connection to Prince William as questions about Princess Kate Middleton’s whereabouts continue to rise, but now, some of her home furnishings seem to be in question.

Internet sleuths have unearthed various photo shoots of Hanbury and her husband, David Cholmondeley, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, posing in various rooms of their Norfolk, England home, Houghton Hall. The images — mainly from a May 2013 Vanity Fair profile and May 2023 Financial Times piece show the couple posing alongside what appear to be various oriental décor pieces that were allegedly looted from China during the Qing dynasty.

“So, due to the #KateGate / #WhereIsKate missing Kate Middleton / Princess of Wales #Katespiracy drama, lots of people around the world have increased interest in Rose Hanbury and her mysterious connection to Prince William,” one X user wrote earlier this week, sharing the photos of Hanbury and her husband. “Unfortunately, people in China looked a little too closely at this photoshoot of the Marquis and Marchioness of Cholmondeley in their gorgeous stately home, and noticed that it’s full of authentic Chinese furniture and artefacts [sic] that were stolen from China during the fall of the Qing dynasty, and they are pissed.”

The message continued: “Apparently, the Marquis of Cholmondeley inherited these controversial pieces from his Sassoon side of the family, and the Sassoons got them by pillaging Qing China while they were there trading opium,” the same X thread read. “Now, Chinese netizens noticed them in the background of their photoshoot at Houghton Hall.”

The Sassoon family reportedly ran a trading empire in the 19th century, dealing commodities across various nations, including China. It’s unclear how the Sassons family — and now Marquis and Marchioness of Cholmondeley — obtained the items in question. However, Sybil Sassoon is Cholmondeley’s paternal grandmother, so it seems there might be a connection.

Former BuzzFeed royal reporter Ellie Hall even weighed in on the new controversy, referring to it as a “favorite unanticipated side-plots” of the ongoing royal family drama.

Hanbury’s connection to the royal family actually dates back years. In fact, she attended Kate and William’s 2011 wedding. Eight years later, affair rumors between Hanbury and William started swirling. (In 2019, multiple outlets reported that Kate and Hanbury had a falling out over the alleged infidelity.)

Royal watchers brought up the affair rumors more recently when Kate’s whereabouts came into question after she underwent an abdominal surgery in January. Social media users went rogue with theories about the Princess of Wales’ well-being, with some claiming that William and Hanbury’s affair being the reason she hasn’t stepped out of the public eye.

WANTED: Kate Middleton, The Princess of Wales, presumed kidnapped by King Charles and the Royal Family unless returned to our TV screens immediately.

I’m not one to follow the
Royal Family — all I know is that Queen Elizabeth may be reincarnated into Trisha Paytas’ baby, Malibu Barbie, and they presumably disappeared Princess Di. And while my phone didn’t scream with a missing persons report, my Twitter (X?) timeline is all ablaze with conspiracies about what happened to Kate.

Amidst confirmation that King Charles III is battling cancer, followers of the Royals have noticed a peculiar missing piece at certain public events: Prince William’s wife, Kate. While William made a last-minute appearance at Greece’s King Constantine II’s funeral, Kate was noticeably absent. According to
    Vanity Fair,

Middleton, 42, has been recovering from her procedure at Adelaide Cottage, the couple’s residence at the royal family’s Windsor Castle estate, since she was discharged from a London hospital after a week-plus inpatient stay following the surgery.

And while we hope the Princess of Wales is in good health, the people of the internet have been making their own assumptions about what happened to Kate Middleton. Since we can’t help but speculate, social media users have tossed about ideas like she’s waiting out a bad haircut, she’s gotten plastic surgery, she’s run away to live in America, the list goes on…

Across the pond at Buckingham Palace, sources claim it was planned abdominal surgery (and we hope she’s safe and healthy)…but if we chose to believe everything the Royals said, we wouldn’t have

With Charles and Kate, 42, out of commission for now, Prince William is “obviously handling a lot,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “There’s no denying this is a stressful period for the whole family, but everyone’s pulling together to help.”

A separate insider told Us that William, 41, had “canceled two out of the country appearances” in the wake of his wife’s procedure and is undertaking “more of the childcare duties.” (William and Kate share three kids: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.)

Robert Hardman, author of The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy, exclusively told Us that Charles’ plans to slim down the monarchy are becoming rather difficult for the king — especially now.

“It is clearly a challenge for the monarchy, no question about that,” Hardman told Us. “It is a much smaller working unit than it used to be. Three of the main players are out of action at the moment.”

Sarah Ferguson has been diagnosed with skin cancer, Us Weekly can confirm.

“Following her diagnosis with an early form of breast cancer this summer, Sarah, Duchess of York has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma,” a spokesperson for the Duchess of York, 64, told Us in a statement on Sunday, January 21. “Her dermatologist asked that several moles were removed and analyzed at the same time as the Duchess was undergoing reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy, and one of these has been identified as cancerous.”

Ferguson is currently undergoing “further investigations” to check that her recent diagnosis was “caught in the early stages.”

“Clearly, another diagnosis so soon after treatment for breast cancer has been distressing but the Duchess remains in good spirits,” the rep adds. “The Duchess wants to thank the entire medical team [who] has supported her, particularly her dermatologist whose vigilance ensured the illness was detected when it was. She believes her experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, color and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma.”

The Duchess wants to express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days.”

Ferguson had a mastectomy to remove the cancerous tissue and has since “beat breast cancer.”

“I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday celebrations today. 2023 hasn’t been without its ups and downs, trials, lessons, laughter, miracles and joy,” she penned in a December 2023 Instagram message, reflecting on her year. “I made the Sunday Times Top 5 bestseller list for my historical romance novel, A Most Intriguing Lady! Prince William Views King Charles’ Reign as ‘Transitional,’ Expert Says

    [ad_1]

Prince William‘s struggles with Prince Harry are nothing new, but royal expert Omid Scobie claims the Prince of Wales also isn’t on the same page as King Charles III.

In excerpts from his new book, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, and an interview with London’s The Times published on Saturday, November 25, Scobie declared that William, 41, is in “heir mode,” which furthers the divide between himself and his father. William “knows his father’s reign is only transitional … and is acting accordingly,” Scobie wrote.

Charles, 75, took the throne after Queen Elizabeth II’s death at age 96 in September 2022. He celebrated his coronation in May with both William and Harry, 39, present for the ceremony. (The Duke of Sussex left London as soon as the ceremony concluded, heading back to California to celebrate son Archie’s birthday with wife Meghan Markle.)

Throughout the first year of Charles’ reign, Scobie claims the two have grown further apart.

A royal family! Prince William is his father King Charles III’s direct heir — and he couldn’t be more proud of his dad’s accomplishments. “My father’s first words on entering Westminster Abbey yesterday were a pledge of service. It was a pledge to continue to serve,” William gushed during his speech at the celebratory Coronation […]

“It would have been nice to see them come together on certain projects perhaps in the early years, to put on that united front, but they’re all working in silos,” Scobie told The Times.

Other experts, like Christopher Andersen, have claimed the opposite. “They’ve had to put up this united front against Harry and Meghan,” Andersen exclusively told Us Weekly of Charles and William in July. “They’ve been insulted by members of their own family. It’s been quite the ordeal for them, and I think that they kind of circled the wagon, so to speak. And they’ve come out of that with a stronger bond.”

However, according to Scobie, the men generally don’t see eye to eye. Among their differences is how they deal with Harry.

In their bombshell CBS interview in March 2021, Meghan and Harry alleged that a member of the royal family raised concerns about the color of Archie’s skin before he was born. Charles spoke to the couple and they came to an understanding that the incident wouldn’t be mentioned in Harry’s book, Spare, or the Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan.

Nearly one year after their initial step away, Buckingham Palace confirmed in February 2021 that Harry and the Suits alum were not going to return as working royals. […]

“The fact that [Charles] engaged in a conversation about it shows a lot more of a willingness to take some of these issues on than Prince William, for example, who has completely avoided talking to his brother whatsoever,” Scobie added.

The author further alleged that “hot-headed” William is “increasingly comfortable with the Palace’s dirty tricks and the courtiers who dream them up” and has used his aides and allies in the U.K. press paint a negative picture of Harry over the years.

“The side of it that a lot of people don’t know, or within our industry have known but chosen not to report, is just how involved William has been in many of the things that have gone out about his own brother,” Scobie claimed.

The “fractures” between Prince William and Prince Harry “split wide open” after Harry exposed his problems with the family and The Firm in 2021, according to royal author Omid Scobie.

Once Harry, 39, “went public with his grievances against the family and the institution” in his and wife Meghan Markle’s 2021 CBS tell-all, the rift between him and William, 41, expanded, Scobie wrote in his upcoming Endgame book. Harry and Meghan’s 2022 Netflix documentary and the prince’s 2023 memoir, Spare, just added fuel to the fire, per the royal journalist.

Scobie claimed in his book that William “believes Harry and Meghan blindsided the family” with their public comments about the institution. After covering Harry and Meghan’s October 2019 southern Africa trip, Scobie alleged that one of William’s aides told him that he “felt ‘uncomfortable’” with his “relationship with the Sussex team.”

  • Royal Expert Claims ‘The Crown’ Mishandled Princess Diana’s Death

Royal Expert Claims ‘The Crown’ Mishandled Princess Diana’s Death

    [ad_1]

Netflix’s The Crown covered the death of Princess Diana in season 6, but there were some glaring errors for close royal watchers.

“I’m a great fan of The Crown, of course, but I have to say this was particularly disappointing,” royal expert Christopher Andersen exclusively told Us Weekly on Tuesday, November 21, while discussing his 1998 book, The Day Diana Died. “There are so many dramatic moments that aren’t included. I mean, this is one of the things that television producers occasionally do. They create composite characters or they go off in a different direction. Here all they had to do to convey the drama of the moment and the impact it had on the world really was to just purport the facts, and that wasn’t done.”

The late Princess of Wales died in August 1997 at age 36 following a car crash in Paris. Her death was highlighted in the first half of The Crown season 6, which hit Netflix earlier this month.

Andersen revisited the “immediate aftermath” of Diana’s passing for The Day Diana Died. For the biography, he interviewed “the doctor who treated her in the tunnel” and “all the nurses who handled her” at the hospital, as well as friends of both Diana’s driver and then-partner Dodi Al-Fayed. (Al-Fayed and the couple’s chauffeur were also killed in the accident.)

Related: Everything to Know About The Crown’s 6th and Final Season

The Crown is coming back for one more season — and filming got underway before season 5 even premiered. Shortly after filming on the Netflix drama’s sixth season got underway in summer 2022, the real Queen Elizabeth II died at age 96. Immediately after her September 2022 passing, her eldest son, King Charles III, assumed […]

Due to his prior research on Diana’s death, Andersen was intrigued to see how The Crown would address the same topic but was ultimately unimpressed.

“I felt that it missed that kind of spark because on top of everything else, this is really a kind of a thriller, if you will, as an action-packed, fast-paced piece of history and that was not conveyed,” Andersen told Us. “I am sure that there was a feeling that no one wanted to dwell too much on the catastrophe itself to look as if they were capitalizing on the death of this woman and the gruesome aspects of the accident and whatnot. But I think they went too far in the other direction. So it just took all the spark in life out of what is quite a moving and dynamic story.”

According to Andersen, The Crown “could have done better” with its representation of the emotional “moment in history that really rocked the world.”

“Why not just portray what happened when [King] Charles saw Diana’s body [laying] in the hospital room for the first time? The entire nursing staff was there. He practically collapsed [and] he had to be held up,” Andersen added. “I mean, it was quite a dramatic moment. None of that is there [in the show]. I mean, Dr. Mailliez, who treated Diana in the tunnel, has an amazing story to tell about her last words. All of this was gone.”

The royal author further pointed out that while the series did attempt to “handle [the story] with great care,” it missed the mark on the biggest emotional reactions.

Following in royal footsteps! A multitude of actors have juggled portrayals of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Princess Margaret and other members of the British royal family during The Crown’s run. The Netflix series premiered in November 2016 with Claire Foy taking on the role of the queen. The actress went on to win an […]

“The actress [who played Diana] is amazing,” Andersen gushed of star Elizabeth Debicki. “I think it’s just eerily right on the money, spot on. Unfortunately, I’m looking at it from my perspective as somebody who knows exactly what happened in detail, and you can’t obviously cram that all into this first half of the season of The Crown.”

Andersen noted that he wished Prince William and Prince Harry’s reactions to walking behind Diana’s casket at her state funeral were shown on screen. William, now 41, and Harry, now 39, marched alongside father King Charles, now 75, and late grandfather Prince Philip in the procession. They were also joined by Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer.

The Crown Mishandled Princess Diana Death

“You just didn’t get the sense of drama and grief and pathos there,” Andersen said. “I was wondering if they’d have that one moment when Harry, as a little boy, turns to his father and says, ‘Are you sure mommy’s dead?’ Because he said that. I mean, that would’ve conveyed everything there. The tight world of the royals was acting as if nothing had even happened, and yet the rest of the world was in turmoil over her death.”

Andersen also lamented over Imelda Staunton’s onscreen portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September 2022.

“When the queen gave her speech, there was a huge push to make her face up to the fact that she had to address her people. She didn’t want to do these things. She was forced to do them by Charles and by [former prime minister] Tony Blair at the time,” Andersen pointed out. “So all the behind-the-scenes machinations, or at least they could have touched on that I think, but they chose to just have her stand on the balcony and give that speech with far less emotion than the queen actually did.”

He continued: “I’m not a fan of the rest of the cast. I think [Imelda was] terribly miscast as queen. I think [the queen had] a much softer personality than this [version], who’s unrelenting.”

Andersen also theorized that The Crown attempted to put a “very Hallmark” spin on Diana’s romance with Al-Fayed, acknowledging that “we don’t know if he proposed” to Diana on their Paris trip.

“I think [what] they’re trying to do is [that] they’re so shell-shocked by criticism [of] what’s happened to other people who seem to have exploited the terrible accident that took Diana’s life,” he added. “But what they should really do is try and capture the drama, which isn’t [there].”

Princess Kate Middleton honored the late Queen Elizabeth II while at a Remembrance Day event with the royal family on Saturday, November 11.

The Princess of Wales, 41, wore a triple-strand pearl necklace, which appeared to be from the late queen’s jewelry collection. She paired the jewelry with a black dress and a traditional red poppy pin while at Royal Albert Hall in London for the Festival of Remembrance.

Pearls were a favorite of Elizabeth’s, who received a triple strand from her father King George IV for his coronation. The late king also gave Elizabeth a pearl every year for her birthday so that she had an elegant necklace by the time she turned 18.

Kate’s necklace appears to be the same one she previously wore from the monarch’s iconic collection at a lunch with Commonwealth leaders at Buckingham Palace two days before the queen’s state funeral in September 2022.

Pearls are traditionally considered appropriate mourning jewelry, which was fitting for Saturday’s event. The Festival of Remembrance is an annual commemorative concert dedicated to all those who have lost their lives in conflict. Remembrance Day honors those who died while in the armed forces, and there will be several events where the royal family honors late veterans throughout the weekend.

More than one year after the queen’s death, the Princess of Wales has been trying to rework her image within the royal family.

A special relationship. Princess Kate formed a bond with Queen Elizabeth II when she became a member of the royal family, looking to the monarch for inspiration over the years. Kate became the Duchess of Cambridge when she married Prince William in April 2011, but her introduction to the queen came three years prior at William’s […]

“Kate feels the spotlight more than ever since the queen’s passing,” a source exclusively explained in the latest issue of Us Weekly, on stands now. “She’s in a new phase of her life, and she wants her image and actions to reflect that. Kate used to portray the perfect, feminine wife, mother and caregiver. Now she wants to be seen as a powerful and kind humanitarian leader.”

Kate — who shares children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, with William — “wants people to see her as a strong leader, someone who’s capable of taking the title of queen into a new generation,” the insider explained.

However, she’s still a mom first and wants to continue being a hands-on parent despite her schedule being filled with more engagements. The future queen feels busy, but that’s not a bad thing.

“The queen set such a high standard, and Kate goes out to every event feeling that burden,” the source explained. “But she truly loves the work she does, so it’s a joyful kind of pressure.”
