At the center of tumbette is the appreciation of seemingly opposing musical genres, like corridos tumbados and pop music. I mean, the very first thing I say in my tumbette tutorial is that it’s an aesthetic “for people who like Natanael Cano and Lana del Rey.” You don’t have to listen to these specific artists, but if you’re Mexican, listen to corridos tumbados and your favorite hyperpop artists in the same playlist. Or if you’re from another part of Latin America, create a playlist that features your favorite cultural genres with your favorite Western artists. Spotify Mexico caught wind of tumbette and curated a playlist of songs you can listen to while filming your GRWM videos. If you live in Sonora, Sinaloa, or Baja California, you can also drive around en la razor with your friends and take in your cities in your best tumbette outfits. Picture Lana del Rey in the “Ride” music video racing on motorbikes, but it’s you and your friends riding around on dirt bikes.

If Beyoncé’s and Lana Del Rey’s recent forays into country music (and its accompanying aesthetics) are anything to go by, we can expect Western fashion to continue thriving come fall. With denim trends also still surging, the fall/winter 2024 shows have introduced a new addition: patchwork denim. Ahluwalia displayed multiple pieces made from reworked Levi’s denim, including a head-to-toe look with a patchwork top, maxi skirt, and even denim boots. Elsewhere, KGL debuted clever patchwork co-ords and SRVC showed dark-wash patchwork jeans.
This season, which introduces fall 2024 and will take place until 20th February, showgoers are channeling some of this year’s biggest trends — the color red, bows and rosettes among them — which were already on display during New York Fashion Week. Yet, with London’s near-spring weather and a high chance of rain showers, attendees are likely to be less bundled, making for outfits that will get anyone excited for warmer days ahead — or at least give outfit inspiration for those rainy April and May days to come.
“I’ve always been the type of person who refuses to take off their heels at special occasions, like weddings and Sweet 16’s, to change into comfy, funky socks. I’d truthfully rather get blisters than be caught in socks on the dance floor. But I’ve realized that the better solution to stylishly suffering in heels all night may be slipping into a pair of elevated ballet flats. I’ve been intrigued by the ballet flat comeback, but I have never made the leap before agreeing to review these Dear Frances large black crystal sheer flats.

It’s been hard to escape the bow trend for the past few months. And, based on the fall/winter 2024 runways, they’re not going anywhere. Yet, the trend is evolving: it’s now less gimmicky and more elegant and grown-up. Take, for example, the lineup at Sandy Liang — a longtime purveyor of bows — which included a skirt suit with tiny bows on the front, as well as Coach, which embedded bows of full skirts and going out tops, and Wiederhoeft, which featured a train of bows on a coat.
With temperatures going from a mild 58 degrees Fahrenheit to a snowstorm-induced 25 in the span of six days, dressing for New York Fashion Week this season was a challenge. But as pros, with seasons and seasons of FW experience and street style know-how under their belts, Refinery29’s fashion editors were unfazed by the changing weather patterns, whipping out some of 2024’s biggest fashion trends, including the color red and tailored suiting, as well as hot accessories like ballet flats and oversized clutches, snow or shine. From day one that saw editors ditching their bulky winter jackets to one that required pulling out a ski puffer, ahead, what the R29 team wore to New York Fashion Week Fall 2024 runway shows.
This trend also plays nicely with colored tights, which is another trend predicted to emerge in 2024, and if you’re a Very Cold Girl like me, adding a pair of stockings underneath a pair of jeans in the dead of winter is nothing new. But experimenting with colored tights to give the effect of socks peeking out from underneath my jeans, or layering stockings, socks, and slingbacks on a particularly cold day already has me feeling warm and cozy.
