  • Tyler, the Creator Takes a 2025 Victory Lap on “Sag Harbor”

    [ad_1]

“what an incredible year, thank you for all the eyes and ears,” reads a title card in the video to “Sag Harbor,” a new freestyle from Tyler, the Creator. The track debuted alongside a fresh “Sugar on My Tongue” remix. You can hear them both below.

“Harbor” includes numerous references to the 34-year-old artist’s triumphant 2025, including his chart-topping July album DON’T TAP THE GLASS (“Son got his fourth number one in a row I’m a champion”), that sold-out CHROMAKOPIA world tour (“i’m on the road to doing stadiums next”), and what sounds like the purchase of a very nice car.

In November, Tyler, the Creator was nominated for six Grammys, including Album of the Year (for CHROMAKOPIA) and Best Alternative Music Album (for GLASS). He is currently starring alongside Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme, and will take the CHROMAKOPIA show to Latin America in March.

Tyler, the Creator has canceled his headlining performances at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands. “i made a commitment that i can no longer keep, and that bums me out knowing how excited folks were,” he posted on X. “that is not sexy at all. please please forgive me or call me names when you see me in person. love.”

Replacing Tyler, the Creator at Lollapalooza is Megan Thee Stallion. And Sabrina Carpenter will take Tyler’s place at Outside Lands, with the festival citing “personal reasons” for the California rapper’s cancellation.

  • Gareth Edwards Talks Storytelling in 'The Creator,' Addresses 'Thor 5' Rumors

Gareth Edwards Talks Storytelling in 'The Creator,' Addresses 'Thor 5' Rumors

    [ad_1]

The Creator, directed and co-written by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One) packs a lot into a film: it’s at once a love story, an epic sci fi film, and a meditation on artificial intelligence. We sat down with Edwards to talk about The Creator in advance of its streaming release later this week—and got the lowdown on rumors that he’s in talks to direct Marvel’s Thor 5.

Like any good science fiction story, The Creator balances a sweeping story with a tight human drama. “Everyone, at their heart, is a storyteller,” Edwards says. “When you do it for a living, you really have to dig deep into [questions like,] ‘What the hell is a story? Why do we tell them? Why do some work amazingly, and some don’t?’ One of the first things you realize, straight out of the gate, is that there are two stories in most of these films. There’s the outer story and the inner story, and they can reflect each other.

So the holy grail that you’re trying to do as a filmmaker—or, at least, I am—is find an epic, cinematic outer story … [and then ask] what character would live through this world, and what circumstances would allow for the perfect reflection of what’s going on in the outer world?”

Edwards found that the answer to that question in The Creator was quite simple: with humans at war with A.I., the most interesting plot was forcing a human and simulant on a journey together. “That central relationship [between Joshua and Alfie] reflects and contains the thoughts and questions and arguments about what’s going on in the bigger world,” he says.

Edwards also wants to put the Thor 5 rumors to rest. “[My next project is] not what I’ve read on the internet,” he says, laughing. “I also read on the internet that the Earth is flat and we never went to the moon. Maybe the Earth is flat, I don’t know! Who’s to say?”

Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to Edwards’ take on the God of Thunder. This should cheer you up, though: The Creator is streaming on Hulu on December 20. The Creator is also available now on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital.

  • John David Washington Faces Off Against An Army of Robots On Set Of ‘The Creator’ (Exclusive)

John David Washington Faces Off Against An Army of Robots On Set Of ‘The Creator’ (Exclusive)

    [ad_1]

    By Zoe Phillips, ETOnline.com.

John David Washington is no stranger to big tasks. The actor goes head-to-head with an army of robots while trying to hunt down a secret weapon that threatens all mankind in his newest project, “The Creator:.

ET went exclusively behind the scenes of the futuristic new film, which promises to be “an epic sci-fi action thriller set amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence.”

“It is the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Washington says. “I’ve had some challenging stunts, this is by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done, getting strung up and dragged around, tossed around in a giant spacesuit that weighs a ton and trying to look heroic.”

Washington says it helped that his set was so full of talent, pointing to co-star Allison Janney who “did a take once where she just started crying, and it was out of nowhere…she was making so many decisions, I couldn’t believe it.”

Washington adds that ‘The Creator’ might surprise you. “It’s not like any other,” he says, “it’s a beautiful blend of atmosphere, beautiful exotic locations with what mankind has developed.”

Janney shares her co-star’s sentiment, saying, “It is a futuristic movie. Post-nuclear disaster about a war that ensues between East and West, pits man against machine, it’s a story of love and acceptance.”

In addition to Washington and Janney, the film also stars Gemma Chan and newcomer Madeleine Yuna Voyles.

Per the release, The Creator takes place “amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war… and mankind itself.  Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory… only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child.”

The film was directed by Gareth Edwards, and written by Edwards and Chris Weitz.

Both Washington and Janney agree that fans should plan to go see the film on the big screen. “You have to see this in a movie theater,” Janney says, “and watch this beautiful work of art.”

“The Creator” is now playing in theatres.
