  • How To Dry Out Wet Weed

How To Dry Out Wet Weed

Like cheese, truffle, and aged beef, the process of prepping marijuana to be used it key…and has a lot to do with the journey. Whether for recreational or medical, it is step which enhance the plant. But sometimes things happen, it accidentally gets wet or when you get it home after the purchase…it feels moist.  Luckily, here is how to dry out wet weed and make sure the THC and use is intact.

RELATED: Is The Old Marijuana I Found Safe to Smoke?

Before going and drying out your cannabis, be sure you’re not mistaking extremely sticky buds for yet too much wet. Sticky icky was likely cured perfectly, it’s just going to, naturally, stick to your fingers and feel suspiciously damp. But as long as it doesn’t squish when lightly squeezed, leave the sticky alone.

Photo by Panos Sakalakis via Unsplash

If it’s just a little too moist, putting the buds in a paper bag and then closing it for a few hours could do the trick. If they’re a little more damp than that, rotate having the paper bag opened and closed every 8 hours or so until it crisps up to your standards.

Now if the weed truly was just harvested, the colors will be very vibrant and the plant will feel extremely humid from the inside out. If you’ve broken up a bud that’s wet through and through, it’s time to get your own cure on. Place the ripe nuggets into glass jars as stated above and also routinely open and close the jars.

RELATED: Old Marijuana Edibles: To Eat or Not To Eat?

Depending on just how wet the weed was, this could be a process that takes more than a day and more like a week or so. The smaller popcorn buds will dry faster and can thus be plucked for smoking before the real meaty ones are properly dried and cured.

Truly, genetics and taking care during the grow play major roles in quality cannabis, but if you don’t have a proper cure, it’s not going to be showtime for your buds. A perfect cure means easily ground, evenly smoked, delicious cannabis packed with terpenes and that shows off all the hard work that the breeders and growers put into it.

This shouldn’t happen if you bought it at a legit dispensary so be aware you likely didn’t get what you paid for to begin with, as wet weed is heavier.

Reading While On A Marijuana High

Marijuana can enhance a variety of things or bring things down and chill you out. While used for fun or medical reasons, sometimes you just want to cozy yourself up and have a great experience. If you’re just starting out pairing weed and books, you don’t want to kick it off with dense literary novels. Try something that feels easy to for you, going back to something you used to read when you were young or a genre that’s simple and compulsive, like romance or horror. Good ideas are the Harry Potter books or something by Stephen King. A graphic novel can also make for a really good starting place.

Reading lends itself to very ritualistic behaviors. Some people prefer to read paper books and can only read when they’re surrounded by total silence. While there’s no judgment, you’ll have more success if you’re able to read while in a variety of situations. Train yourself to read in different places, even if it’s only for 5 or 10 minutes at a time. When high, try your best to read and enjoy yourself, avoiding stress if your mind can’t hold on to all of the words that are on the page.

    Pay attention to the strain

The strain you’re smoking will have an impact on your reading experience as a whole. Try to avoid sleepy strains, since they’ll make a relaxing activity even more relaxing and you’ll fall asleep, which is great but doesn’t really serve the purpose of this article. Choose a strain that’s cerebral yet contained, something that will help you feel creative but also grounded. Ask your budtender for a light indica or a sativa that doesn’t produce too much anxiety.

    Watch your dosage

    book, read, old

When starting on your weed reading journey, watch your dosage, taking a couple of puffs to see how your body takes to this new experience. You can always smoke later if you need more, but it helps to start off slow. Happy reading!

  • Why Some Don’t Have A High The First Time They Consume Weed

Why Some Don’t Have A High The First Time They Consume Weed

More people are trying marijuana. Canada is fully legal and over 50% of the US population have recreational weed access.  The social stigma is almost gone also as over 85% of the population believe it should be legal in some form.  There are decisions on how (old school by smoking, current with gummies or vapes), where and alone or with others.  After prepping it though, occasionally there is another question – why some don’t have a high the first time consume weed.

Despite what we know of marijuana tolerance, the more you’re exposed to cannabis the less it affects your, the phenomenon of not feeling anything the first few times you consume affects a number of first timers. Experts have different theories as to why this happens.

RELATED: The Most Popular Marijuana Flavors

One of the most prominent theories states that in order for people to experience weed properly, they must first learn how to do it correctly. People need to be exposed to the drug repeatedly until their body understands what it’s supposed to feel. Experts call this a “sensitization period,” when THC interacts with the cannabinoids in your system a few times in order to activate them and to produce that high feeling. It may take a couple of sessions before you smoke and know that you are actually high versus feeling what you think you should be experiencing.

RELATED: How To Stop Coughing So Hard From Marijuana Smoke

Smoking verus other methods my also be a reason.  Smoking can be a bit tricky. You my be inhaling cannabis but keeping the smoke in the mouth, which prevents the THC from making its way to your bloodstream.

There’s not one definitive answer when it comes to cannabis and its effect on our bodies, but it’s always hard to do something for the first time, whether that’s smoking weed or getting a tattoo. Your expectations, the people you’re with, and your biology will have a hand in your first couple of experiences with weed, which is why it’s important to be patient and open minded.

RELATED: Smoking Marijuana For The First Time: A Beginner’s Guide

When first using marijuana, start off slow surrounded by people you trust. Put your phone on silent to minimize extra sources of stress. Once you start, pause for a bit (15-30 minutes for smoking/vape and 45 minutes for edibles) so you can monitor your feelings closely, that way you can make sure you get high but not too high.

  • What To Know Before Growing Hemp at Home

What To Know Before Growing Hemp at Home

With the growing interest in CBD, hemp, and cannabis products, many enthusiasts are turning to home cultivation to maintain control over their supply, reduce costs, and enjoy a rewarding hobby. While growing your product at home is a major plus, you must consider a few factors in your new venture.

If you’re considering joining the ranks of home hemp growers, you need to be aware of several essential aspects before you dig in. Let’s explore what you need to know before growing hemp at home.

    Navigating the Legal Landscape

Let’s lay down the law. Before you plant anything, familiarize yourself with the legal framework surrounding hemp cultivation in your area, from local zoning laws to federal regulations. Laws can vary significantly from state to state and even from town to town, and staying compliant with local regulations is crucial to avoid any legal consequences.

    The Seed of Your Success

Selecting the right hemp variety is as vital as knowing the law. Hemp comes in many strains, each with its cannabinoid profile and preferred use. Consider the climate and your ultimate product when choosing seeds or clones as well. Some varieties thrive indoors, while others are best for outdoor cultivation.

    Cultivation Conditions for a Bounty

Hemp is a resilient plant but thrives under optimal conditions. Whether you’re growing in a controlled environment or the great outdoors, you’ll need to provide the appropriate amount of light, water, and nutrients. Understanding these requirements is key to healthy plant development and a successful harvest.

    Nurturing and Protecting Your Crop

From germination to the flowering stage, hemp requires careful attention. Proper watering, feeding, and managing pests and diseases are critical. Identifying issues early and taking swift corrective action can make all the difference in the quality and quantity of your yield.

Make sure you have the appropriate devices to ensure your product thrives even when you’re not around. We recommend setting up automatic watering systems and temperature controls and adding a home generator to your arsenal. However, watch out for signs it’s time to maintain your generator to prevent interruptions due to inclement weather.

The Harvest Moon: Bringing It Home

The time at which you harvest hemp can affect quantity and quality. Once you harvest the hemp, drying and curing your plants correctly are essential steps before processing. These can significantly influence the final product’s potency and flavor.

    Quality Assurance: Testing Your Crop

Quality control is a cornerstone of any successful hemp operation. Lab testing is necessary to measure the THC content, ensuring you’re within the legal limits. Attention to detail at this stage can safeguard your investment and your reputation.

    Planting the Seed of Success

Study and understand the information above before growing hemp at home to reap the benefits of your cultivation. This journey can be fulfilling, offering a deeper connection to the CBD products many people have come to rely on. By following the considerations outlined above, you set the stage for a successful and compliant homegrown hemp experience.

  • Study: Vaporizing CBD/THC Cannabis Blend Effective for Sustained Migraine Relief | High Times

Study: Vaporizing CBD/THC Cannabis Blend Effective for Sustained Migraine Relief | High Times

It’s estimated that at least 39 million Americans live with migraines, though the number is likely higher due to lack of diagnosis or proper treatment. And those who experience migraines are well aware of how debilitating they can be, especially those who experience migraines on a consistent basis.

Cannabis is already known to be beneficial for those who suffer from migraines, as it appears as a qualifying condition for a number of state medical programs. But of course, we’re still catching up on research surrounding cannabis as a whole, and there’s a lot we’re continuing to learn about cannabis and how it can work to treat specific conditions like migraines.

A pilot study published by the National Library of Medicine took a closer look at the relationship between cannabis and migraines found that inhalation of flower with both CBD and THC may be key to providing migraine relief. The data has not yet been peer reviewed.

First-of-its-Kind Study to Assess Cannabis for Migraine Relief

Authors note the existing preclinical and retrospective studies suggesting that cannabinoids could be effective in treating migraines, though there are still no randomized clinical trials to assess efficacy.

Additionally, they note the prevalence of acute treatments for migraines, like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, though rates of treatment optimization in this regard tend to be low with high rates of discontinuation.

To examine how cannabis may help to curb migraine symptoms, researchers from the University of California, San Diego (ECSD) conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial with herbal cannabis, the first of its kind according to the study. The trial involved 92 patients with persistent migraines.

Participants were randomly assigned one of four cannabis chemotypes: 6% THC, 11% CBD, 6% THC and 11% CBD or a placebo. Upon each migraine attack onset, participants were instructed to open a smartphone application, which would prompt participants with questions surrounding whether or not the attack met the criteria for cannabis administration (if more than seven days had elapsed since the last administration, if it was less than four hours from headache onset, gauging the severity of pain, other symptoms associated with the migraine and that no acute treatments had been used since the attack onset).

So long as participants met the set criteria, the app would then instruct them to vaporize cannabis, inhaling for five seconds, holding their breath for 10 seconds and then waiting 45 seconds before repeating the process four times. The app then pushed surveys to participants at one, two, 24 and 48 hours following application to gauge efficacy.

THC/CBD Blend Most Effective in Treating Migraines

Ultimately, the study concluded that the vaporized cannabis containing THC and CBD was most effective in treating migraines. It also found that the THC/CBD blend was superior to the placebo when it came to relieving migraine-related photophobia, or light sensitivity, and phonophobia, sound sensitivity.

“Vaporized 6% THC+11% CBD cannabis flower was superior to placebo for pain relief, pain freedom, and MBS [most bothersome symptom] freedom at 2 hours as well as 24-hour sustained pain freedom and sustained MBS freedom and 48-hour sustained MBS freedom,” authors reported, emphasizing that this blend was the only one to provide sustained benefit versus the placebo.

The study found that blends dominant in THC and CBD showed no difference from the placebo surrounding 24- or 48-hour sustained pain and MBS freedom.

Regardless of the type of cannabis consumed, there were no serious adverse effects reported by participants. However, the THC-dominant blend provided the most euphoria, cognitive impairment and subjective highness, followed by the THC/CBD blend and then the CBD-dominant flower.

Gaps in Research and Looking Ahead

The study did not assess repeated administration or regular, long-term treatments, though researchers note a small body of literature that has found improvements on patient-reported outcomes when using cannabis-based medicinal products on regular, longer-term or preventative basis.

The study also only looked at single potencies of THC and CBD and a single THC:CBD ratio, and minor cannabinoids and terpenes were also left out of the study.

In the study’s conclusion, researchers still cited the need for further research to include multicenter and long-term studies of benefits and risks regarding repeated use of cannabis to treat migraines.

Melbourne high-rise climber Anthony Andolfo says ascent “worth it” – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

The Frenchman jailed for scaling a high-rise tower in Melbourne’s CBD last month without any safety equipment says the climb was still worth it, although he was surprised to be imprisoned for a week.

Anthony Andolfo told Nine News on Monday he would continue to solo free-climb towers around the world.

“Of course. Maybe not in Australia,” he said. “I can do it again in Australia, yes, [it’ll] maybe be more official.”

Andolfo, who spent his 30th birthday on remand, drew stunned spectators and emergency services when he climbed the facade of the Avani Melbourne Central Residences on A’Beckett Street about 7.50am on February 6.

Wearing a backpack and a GoPro, and using only climbing chalk, Andolfo reached the top of the 56-storey apartment building, where emergency services and police were waiting. He was handcuffed and led away to a police van.

Anthony Andolfo climbed the facade of the Avani Melbourne Central Residences on A’Beckett Street.

Last month, his lawyer told the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court he was remorseful for his actions and the inconvenience caused to emergency services. Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt accepted he was unlikely to re-offend in Australia as his first significant time spent in custody was “sufficiently unpleasant”.

But on Monday, Andolfo, who departs for Panama on Tuesday, repeated what he told reporters when asked why he scaled the high-rise as police escorted from the apartment tower on February 6: “Because I can.”

How antisocial behaviour and homelessness is impacting Elizabeth Street – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

“The ongoing situation on Elizabeth Street is unacceptable and the City of Melbourne is doing everything it can to turn it around,” he says.

“Council has ramped up cleaning in the area, including a new daily 4am sweep and more graffiti patrols, and will work with landlords to activate shopfronts to make the area more vibrant.”

But the council is limited on what it can achieve alone, Reece says, and a co-ordinated approach is the only way to tackle the long-running issue.

On Wednesday, police held a meeting with Ambulance Victoria, traders, The Salvation Army and residents. It followed a roundtable, convened by Melbourne City Council last month, to come up with ways to improve safety and amenity in the troubled precinct.

The southern end of Elizabeth Street – which is opposite Flinders Street station and has a high concentration of fast food and bottle shops – has long attracted people with complex social problems including homelessness, mental illness and addiction.

But locals believe crime and antisocial behaviour is getting worse, in part because Metro Tunnel works have displaced people from Swanston Street. Some say creating a new public space by closing off southbound traffic between Flinders Street and Flinders Lane has also worsened the problem.

  • How to Give CBD Oil to Dogs? – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

How to Give CBD Oil to Dogs? – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Learn safe and effective methods to give your dog CBD oil for optimal health and wellness in our comprehensive guide.

How to Give CBD Oil to Dogs?

The administration of CBD oil to dogs can be one of the most excellent additions to the course of wellness, wherever it relieves some conditions, including anxiety, infliction, and inflammation. CBD oil should be introduced in small doses, and their response should be monitored to determine the specific dosage per dog based on size and individual reaction. Quality dogs CBD oil is essential to ensure safety and effectiveness; however, the product must be developed for animals.

Administration methods include administering it with food items, application on the gums, or bacon. It is crucial to stick to the full course of the method. If needed, consultation with the veterinarian may be necessary to make proper adjustments to this approach, considering your dog’s individual needs and ensuring it is compatible with the general approach to your dog’s care.

    Understanding CBD Oil

Cannabinoids, extracted from the hemp plant, when administered to the human and animal body, interact with the endocannabinoid system that is present almost in all human beings and animal beings. This kind of interaction may provide therapeutic effects such as pain reduction, relaxation, and better sleep quality and mood. Unlike THC, another component occurring in cannabis, CBD does not result in psychoactive effects, and for that reason, it can…

Group looking to expand medical marijuana access in Arkansas expects success in November – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A group looking to make some changes to medical marijuana access under Amendment 98 of the state constitution is one step closer to its goal, after the most recent approval from Attorney General Tim Griffin of their last submission.

Arkansans for Patient Access is behind the measure and received approval from Griffin this week for their latest version of the measure. If approved by voters, it would change the current medical marijuana law and increase access for patients.

Currently, the role is limited to doctors, but this proposal would add nurse practitioners, physicians assistants and pharmacists.

The medical condition qualifications in the current law would also be broadened to include whatever a health care practitioner feels is debilitating for a patient and could be treated with marijuana.

Medical marijuana cards would also expire after three years under the proposal, instead of the current one-year limit. The measure would also add two years until expiration for current cardholders.

“It gives more access, easier process, longer cards,” Melissa Fults with Arkansas Cannabis Alliance said. “It’s just going to be a better program.”

Rhode Island’s Marijuana Industry Is Stepping Up Its Political Savvy With More Campaign Donations To Politicians – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

“You never know when there is going to be a year where big decisions are made and you want to be able to talk to these people and express your point of view.”

By Nancy Lavin, Rhode Island Current

Spencer Blier was expelled from his first college for smoking weed, then spent the next decade as a perpetual University of Rhode Island student while growing marijuana for state medical patients in his on-campus log cabin.

Not a promising start, but the 35-year-old Warwick native and cannabis cultivator ended 2023 with the third-highest sales among the state’s 60 licensed growers: $2.2 million, according to information from the Rhode Island Office of Cannabis Regulation.

As his company, Mammoth Inc., blossomed, so did Blier’s political savvy.

He donated $1,000 apiece to the campaigns of House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi (D) and Senate President Dominick Ruggerio (D) in the fall of 2023, according to state campaign finance reports. Blier is not expecting major law changes this year, as the nascent industry scored major wins, including expansion to recreational use, with a 115-page bill passed in 2022.

“Just letting them know we’re here,” Blier said of his recent campaign contributions. “You never know when there is going to be a year where big decisions are made and you want to be able to talk to these people and express your point of view.”

But he’s still pretty green when it comes to the political scene.
