Record spend in Hamilton CBD ‘a positive sign’ for 2023 – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

An end-of-year bounce back from Covid-19 restrictions and cost rises helped drive a record retail electronic spend of $711 million in central Hamilton last year.

That figure – not adjusted for inflation – was up just under 11.8% on a year earlier compared to the official consumer price index rise for 2022 of 7.2%.

But there were notes of caution as the number of retail merchants dropped by 13 over the year.

The record retail spend in the central city was up almost 12% on the previous year – a positive sign for 2023 and beyond, says the Hamilton Central Business Association.

    KELLY HODEL/STUFF

The record retail spend in the central city was up almost 12% on the previous year – a positive sign for 2023 and beyond, says the Hamilton Central Business Association.

Hamilton Central Business Association general manager Vanessa Williams said the record result followed big jumps in the September and December quarters as Covid-19 restrictions eased.

The bulk of growth in that sector – where the annual spend rose 13.7% to $116 million – was in accommodation as people started to travel more in a less restricted environment, she said.

Williams also highlighted a 37% rise in fuel and automotive spending to $62 million (with a significant $10 rise per transaction) and an 8.55% rise in spending on home and…

Legalizing recreational marijuana is good for Oklahoma news – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

I’m a mother, a grandma and a retired schoolteacher. I’m not loopy about marijuana and I don’t use it, however I’m excited to vote “yes” on State Question 820 on March 7. To me and plenty of different mother and father, the legalization of recreational marijuana is not about medicine, it is about placing our state on sounder financial footing, making wise legal guidelines that promote public security and constructing a extra simply state.

More:Counterpoint: Why you need to vote ‘no’ on Oklahoma State Question 820

First, it is clear that Oklahomans stand to realize from an unlimited inflow in new tax income. SQ 820 would place a 15% tax on recreational marijuana, which consultants say would generate over $100 million a 12 months in income when mixed with state and native taxes.

We all know, and I witnessed firsthand once I was a instructor, that Oklahoma faculties are dangerously underfunded. Many lecturers are fleeing the occupation and our college students are paying the value. Oklahoma ranks within the backside six states for per-pupil spending on public training, and passing SQ 820 can throw our faculties and our college students a lifeline. This is not some fantasy; we solely must look subsequent door to see what we’re lacking out on as we speak. Since Colorado legalized marijuana greater than a decade in the past, its public faculties have obtained over half a billion dollars in further income from its marijuana tax.

Is this the year that Pa. finally legalizes recreational marijuana? | Mark O’Keefe – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Is Pennsylvania on the verge of making marijuana legal?

While there hasn’t been much talk about the topic recently, legalization took a huge step forward with Democrats winning three recent primaries to take a 102-101 edge in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. With control of the chamber, Democrats can now decide which bills can come up for votes and when they can be voted on.

Democrats had tried for years to get their Republican counterparts to consider legalization, but GOP lawmakers refused to even discuss the proposal much less take an actual vote on the topic.

However, with Democrats in charge of the agenda, it’s possible they could agree to discuss the proposal and possibly even pass it.

If the legislation passes the House of Representatives, it could eventually end up in the governor’s office. Democratic Gov.  Josh Shapiro has said he supports legalization .

Before that can happen, though, the legislation would have to be passed by the state Senate where Republicans hold the majority.

But two Republican senators, Mike Regan, of York County and Dan Laughlin, of Erie, have come out in favor of legalization, meaning it could pass the Senate if Democrats stand firm and one more Republican favors legalization.

Regan noted that his support for the legislation may have surprised some given his two decades in law enforcement.
However, he said there are estimates that legalization could bring $1 billion in revenues which could be used to provide police with…

After treating pain with medical marijuana, Ryan Shazier launches new line of products – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

When former Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a terrifying injury during a 2017 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, he didn’t know that trying to walk again would lead to even more battles during his recovery.

As his journey progressed from paralysis to relearning how to walk, Shazier not only had to deal with pain, but also depression and anxiety that grew from mourning the loss of football in his life.

After being prescribed opioid-based painkillers, he realized he wanted to find alternatives to the highly addictive drugs.

Shazier discovered medical marijuana and found it to be a safer alternative. He knew he had hit upon something.

The products worked so well that he decided to launch a line of medical cannabis products to help others looking for opioid alternatives.

Shazier partnered with Organic Remedies in January, introducing Steel City Greats at a launch party Jan. 26 at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto atop Mt. Washington in Pittsburgh. The line is geared to help patients manage pain, depression and anxiety, all of which Shazier dealt with during recovery.

In an effort to reduce the stigma that exists surrounding medical marijuana, Shazier has spoken publicly about the benefits of legal cannabis.

“Because of this stigma, many patients suffering from a wide array of health conditions are not comfortable discussing medical marijuana
with their health care providers,” Shazier said. “As we lessen the stigma, more patients will be able to benefit from…

Researchers Discover How Cannabidiol (CBD) Counters Epileptic Seizures – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Study findings suggest specific targets for future drugs.

A previously unknown way in which cannabidiol (CBD), a substance found in cannabis, reduces seizures in many treatment-resistant forms of pediatric epilepsy has been revealed by a new scientific study.

Led by researchers at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, the study found that CBD blocked signals carried by a molecule called lysophosphatidylinositol (LPI). Found in brain cells called neurons, LPI is thought to amplify nerve signals as part of normal function, but can be hijacked by disease to promote seizures.

Published online on February 13 in the journal Neuron, the work confirmed a previous finding that CBD blocks the ability of LPI to amplify nerve signals in a brain region called the hippocampus. The current findings argue for the first time that LPI also weakens signals that counter seizures, further explaining the value of CBD treatment.

“Our results deepen the field’s understanding of a central seizure-inducing mechanism, with many implications for the pursuit of new treatment approaches,” said corresponding author Richard W….

What is it like living in Melbourne’s CBD? I’ve been here for 20 years – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Coffee at Little Mule, or a beer in the strange loading-zone jumble that was St Jerome’s. A pastrami roll and music played off vinyl at Rue Bebelons. Hardware picked up from Bunnings on Bourke Street. Buying a magazine from McGills on Elizabeth Street before heading up Little Bourke past John Donne & Son’s map shop to that Iranian restaurant near Hardware Lane (even I can’t remember its name).

This is what living in the Melbourne CBD for the past 20 years has gifted me: a strange mental muddle of cafes, shops and bars that have come and gone, surviving as ghosts in the memory of a long-term city resident.

As Cara Waters wrote on Wednesday, since the pandemic the city centre is shifting from a place of business to a place where people live, and live it up. An increasing number of people are likely to base themselves in the city centre. So what’s it like living here?

At noon on February 28, I’ll have lived in the Melbourne CBD for exactly 20 years, in an apartment within a converted office block on the corner of Elizabeth and Little Bourke Streets, opposite the GPO. When my wife Narrelle and I made the move from Richmond in 2003, we thought we were moving into the big city. To our surprise, we moved into a village.

  • CBD And Cocoa: Clear The Doubts In Your Head – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

CBD And Cocoa: Clear The Doubts In Your Head – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

View the original article about CBD And Cocoa at CBD Cream Site.

Has cocoa got anything similar to CBD? Let’s explore by answering a few common questions people have.

The answer to this question is no, cocoa does not contain endocannabinoids. Endocannabinoids are molecules produced naturally in the body that bind to endocannabinoid receptors, which are found throughout the body. These molecules are responsible for regulating a variety of physiological functions, including mood, memory, appetite, and pain perception. Cocoa does contain compounds such as flavonoids and polyphenols which have been linked to improved health and wellness, but it does not contain endocannabinoids.

Yes, cocoa does contain anandamide, which is also known as the “bliss molecule.” Anandamide is a naturally occurring chemical in the human brain that is responsible for feelings of joy and happiness. It has been found to be present in a number of foods, including dark chocolate, raw cocoa, and some types of nuts and seeds. The effects of anandamide vary from person to person, but it is generally accepted that consuming foods containing this molecule can contribute to feelings of pleasure and relaxation. Let’s compare CBD and anandamide:

CBD and anandamide are two compounds that are gaining attention for their potential health benefits. Both of them interact with the endocannabinoid system, but they do so in different ways.

Cannabidiol or CBD is a naturally occurring compound, found in…
