  • Avengers: Doomsday’s Namor Actor Describes Interacting With RDJ on Set

Namor actor Tenoch Huerta is set to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, and ahead of the film’s release next year, the star opened up about what it was like to meet Robert Downey Jr. while on set.

What did Tenoch Huerta say about meeting Robert Downey Jr.?

Speaking with El Capipi Perez, Huerta praised Downey, and also jokingly remarked that the star hasn’t lost any of his good looks or youthful appearance.

“He’s really handsome, dude,” said Huerta (translation courtesy of X account Avengers Updated). “The guy looks really young too. What happened was that I wasn’t in the scene; I went to see the directors. I wanted to talk to them about some lines and also meet them face to face. When I was there, the guy came over to check the monitors and I said, ‘Ah, no way!’ I really said, ‘Damn, I left my kneepads back at the hotel, man!’”

The kneepads line, while initially confusing many fans, seems to be a translation of a term in Spanish that’s hard to convey in English. According to some fans online, the star was essentially explaining how starstruck he was getting to meet Downey.

The cast for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday is going to be massive. So far, several major stars from the MCU have been confirmed to be in the movie, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man.

More names for the upcoming movie include Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer’s Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman’s Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke‘s M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen‘s Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki.

Several X-Men characters are also coming back for the upcoming movie, including Patrick Stewart‘s Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen‘s Magneto, Alan Cumming‘s Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn‘s Mystique, James Marsden‘s Cyclops, and Channing Tatum‘s Gambit.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026.

  • ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Tenoch Huerta Teases Filming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ & Namor’s Return To The MCU

    [ad_1]

Tenoch Huerta is set to reprise his Black Panther: Wakanda Forever role of Namor in Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

In a new interview, the actor teased what it was like filming the latest superhero team-up and how he found out he was returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

“We were waiting on the green light [from Marvel] and my agents in the U.S. were not sure about the news [of my return],” Huerta said on TV Azteca‘s late-night show La Resolana Con El Capi on Sunday. “They practically told us around 12 at night, and at 5:30 in the morning, the [cast reveal] livestream started, and they told us, ‘Hey, the news is about to drop.’ It was surprising and it was cool.”

Of returning to the MCU, Huerta said that this time around “the dynamic has been different,” adding, “There are twentysomething characters involved in the story, which means we are each going to have smaller roles because there needs to be space for all the characters and all the universes. This makes it a much more simpler role, in terms of time and energy of making a film like this.”

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are directing the film with a script written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.

Huerta will join other Marvel stars, including Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Florence Pugh (Yelena).

The film also stars Lewis Pullman (Sentry), Danny Ramirez (Joaquín Torres / Falcon), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier / Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Channing Tatum (Gambit).
