Mid-credit scene announces the next part: All you need to know about the sequel to Karthik Ghattamaneni's Mirai

This year seems to be the year of sequels for Telugu cinema. And Karhik Ghattamaneni’s Mirai does not seem any different. The recently released film stars Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak, and Shriya Saran in lead roles. This fantasy-based action film has a mid-credit scene, which clearly establishes the plotline and story for the sequel of the film. However, judging by the reaction of people on the internet, it seems like most people have missed it. If you were one of those people who fled their seats as soon as the credits started rolling up, then do not worry, because here is everything you need to know about the sequel to this recent release. Spoilers ahead.

    All about the sequel
The movie concludes with Vedha (played by Teja) defeating Mahabir Lama with a weapon that turns into Lord Ram’s Kodanda whenever the need arises. Kondana is the supernatural bow of Lord Rama. The weapon is called mirai. Vedha also manages to secure the nine texts left by King Ashoka that have the key to the power. While the film itself ends on a satisfactory note, the mid-credit scene introduces a new character, an antagonist in particular, along with the title to the sequence.
The audience enters the mid-credit scene with a voiceover of Prabhas, which introduces a character played by Rana Daggubati. The character sits surrounded by gold. It is revealed that the man has a superpower, which turns everything that he touches into gold. This is a reference to King Midas from Greek mythology. The antagonist states that he is looking for Mirai and mentions that, like Treta Yug, he will not let it go this time. This hints at the character being either immortal or reincarnated.

This scene gives us a glimpse of how the story will continue. However, the film’s producers, People Media Factory, have yet to announce anything officially about the sequel.

  • Mirai Review: Teja Sajja’s final showdown with Manchu Manoj’s Black Sword is a climax that delivers on all fronts

    Name: Mirai

    Director: Karthik Gattamneni

Cast: Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran, Jagapathi Babu, Jayaram

    Writer: Karthik Gattamneni

    Rating: 3/5

Mirai is a fantasy action adventure movie starring Teja Sajja and Manchu Manoj in the lead roles. Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, the film also features actors like Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran, and many more in key roles.

If you’re planning to watch the fantasy flick in theaters this week, here’s the Pinkvilla review you should check out.

    The Plot

Mirai’s story is set in a mythological-futuristic universe. The film follows a young warrior named Vedaa who is tasked with protecting nine sacred scriptures that can turn any mortal into a deity.

As Vedaa is drawn into the adventure, he encounters the immortal sage Agastya and the descendants of Sampati, who are safeguarding Dharma from the evil forces.

However, his journey takes a grim turn when Mahabir Lama, aka Black Sword, is in search of the holy scriptures. Whether Vedaa manages to save the world in time and become the savior it needs is the central narrative of the movie.

    The Good

Mirai is a fantasy action-adventure that is infused with elements of mythology.

With a brilliant blend of mysticism and superhero themes, the film stands out thanks to its carefully packaged tone and emotional core.

The Teja Sajja starrer is a visual spectacle with a strong emphasis on VFX. The movie deserves special praise for its characterizations, making us root for the classic Good Vs Evil. With impressive performances by both Teja Sajja and Manchu Manoj, the film offers a unique perspective on the superhero genre, infused with mystical mythology.

Additionally, the filmmakers weave the backstory into historical elements, which paves the way for an intriguing narrative.

From a technical standpoint, Mirai delivers absolutely stunning visuals. The high-octane action, featuring fast-paced chase sequences, samurai sword battles, and even Kung Fu-like combat, showcases an uncompromising commitment to craftsmanship.

While some scenes may remind viewers of Marvel movies like Avengers: Infinity War and Doctor Strange, Mirai offers fresh storytelling with its execution. In this regard, Karthik Gattamneni succeeds in staying true to the film’s original version.

With visuals crafted by Karthik himself and exhilarating background scores by Gowra Hari, the film offers a rich sensory experience. The editing is solid, even when the writing falters.

    The Bad

While Mirai had the potential to become extraordinary, it unfortunately took a downturn after the interval. The second half of the fantasy actioner struggled to maintain momentum, leading to a noticeable drag until the climax.

One of the most frustrating aspects is the overuse of comedic gags. Despite an engaging storyline, the film is bogged down by the humour and doesn’t contribute meaningfully to the narrative or tone.

Additionally, as more films delve into mythology-inspired storytelling, the integration of such elements into a movie starts to feel saturated and repetitive.

    The Performances

Teja Sajja delivers one of his best performances to date. After the success of HanuMan, he confidently shoulders such a larger-than-life role. However, what makes it impressive is the actor’s avoidance of conventional commercial tropes like romantic subplots, elaborate dance numbers, or dramatic monologues.

Moreover, Manchu Manoj shines brilliantly as the main antagonist, Black Sword. The actor embodies the villainous core to his best, delivering a performance that will be remembered.

While Ritika Nayak provides a refreshing look into a female lead’s characterization, Shriya Saran, with her emotional performance, connects well with everyone. Additionally, Jayaram and Jagapathi Babu, with their limited time, leave a mark.

    Watch the trailer of Mirai:

    The Verdict

Mirai is a visual spectacle that ambitiously balances the worlds of fantasy and mythology on a grand scale. While the writing falters at times, it manages to entertain and leaves room for an exciting sequel.

Despite its flaws, Mirai remains an engaging cinematic experience that’s worth watching on the big screen.

  • HanuMan’s Director Prasanth Varma Gives Update on Jai Hanuman First-Look

HanuMan’s Director Prasanth Varma Gives Update on Jai Hanuman First-Look

Teja Sajja‘s latest superhero film, HanuMan, had great success in Indian and foreign box offices, elevating the name of Prasanth Varma as a director. Viewers who have watched the movie will know that the production of part 2 is underway, as it is slated to have a 2025 release. To further the excitement among fans, Varma recently gave an update on the first look of the upcoming sequel.

Produced under the banner of Primeshow Entertainment, HanuMan was released in theaters on January 12, 2024. Apart from Telugu, the film was also released in Tamil, Marathi, Hindi, Kannada, English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Japanese. The film features actor Teja Sajja as Hanumanthu, an ordinary person who unexpectedly gains superpowers. Amritha Aiyer is also seen in the role of Meenakshi, and Vinay Rai is portrayed as the villain.

Fans who have missed the theatrical experience are now eagerly awaiting its OTT release. Reportedly, HanuMan will be available for streaming on March 8, 2024, on Zee5. Following its OTT release, fans will be able to re-live the thrilling adventures of Hanumanthu on their screens.

Yash to join the upcoming sequel in a lead role?

Earlier reports suggested that veteran actor Ram Charan would be seen in the role of Lord Rama. However, Prasanth Varma hinted at the cast for the upcoming sequel, clarifying that Teja Sajja would play the same role in the sequel.

Yash has been a “very strong contender for the part” of Lord Hanuman. However, the actor’s team said that the reports are “baseless and false.” They further confirmed to India Today that “There is no truth to the reports, he is not considering any such role. Rocking Star Yash puts a lot of time and consideration into each film he chooses to do, and right now he is completely consumed with ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups.’”

Toxic is directed by Geethu Mohandas and is expected to hit silver screens on April 10, 2025.

Prasanth Varma reveals Jai Hanuman’s first look coming soon

While much speculation surrounds Jai Hanuman, director Verma has publicly announced its next part. Recently, makers have arranged Hanuman’s Half-Century Celebration in Hyderabad. During the event, Prasanth took the mic and said, “It’s been a while since we saw a 50-day event. I am happy that it happened with HanuMan. I thank all my actors and technicians.”

He continued, “A successful film changes the lives of producers, directors, actors, distributors, and theatre owners. It is important to celebrate such moments. HanuMan having a 50-day run in 150 theatres gives me more confidence. My first film, Awe, is both a commercial and critical success. As we didn’t conduct a success meet, people thought it didn’t workout commercially.”

Varma further expressed, “Very soon, there will be a release of HanuMan’s remastered version, and it will surprise you more. HanuMan established a solid foundation for the upcoming movies in Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. We will come up with quality movies in the franchise. HanuMan will have an international release as well. This Telugu film will strike big in foreign countries. This is possible because of our producer’s vision, and I am thankful to Niranjan Garu”.

Lastly, he ended his statement by saying, “We will be submitting HanuMan for the film festivals, and we are hopeful that our film will also bag awards. Jai Hanuman’s work has already commenced, and we will release its first look soon. The adrenaline rush in HanuMan’s climax will be present throughout Jai Hanuman. The immense success and love from the audience made us more responsible.”

Thus, it seems that fans will soon get to see a glimpse of Jai Hanuman.
