  • Pre-NAB Show Public Radio Engineering Conference Confirmed | Radio & Television Business Report

    The Association of Public Radio Engineers, for the 26th year, will hold its annual Public Radio Engineering Conference (PREC) in Las Vegas ahead of the NAB Show.

    Registration has opened, and the PREC is pricing the event at the same level as it did in 2024 and 2025.

    The 2026 event will be held on April 16-17 at Tuscany Suites and Casino. The dates are immediately ahead of the NAB Show’s Saturday events leading up to its formal Sunday opening.

    The PREC is billed as public radio’s yearly gathering for engineers of all experience levels.

    APRE’s mission is to Advance the art, science, and performance of public radio engineers and public radio engineering for the public good.

    The PREC session schedule will be announced mid-February.

    The 2025 conference covered “a broad array of issues, challenges, and ideas facing the public radio and public media technical community; basics of radio transmission, non-traditional STLs, trouble shooting, broadcast telephony SIP, the latest tech from NPR, and much more.”

    Additionally, the Association of Public Radio Engineers is now accepting proposals for presentations for PREC. Topics include:

    •  Emerging technology & techniques
    •  RF theory and innovations of antennas & transmitters
    •  audio production techniques and solutions
    •  operations including automation and traffic systems
    •  STLs and studio links; console technology
    •  SNMP
    •  budget planning
    •  legal issues & compliance and advocacy
    •  virtualization
    •  facility upgrades
    •  remote studio operation & production
    •  digital services including video, streaming, podcasting
    •  news coverage

     

    Presentations from members about major projects and project planning are also welcome. To submit a proposal, click on the following link: https://forms.gle/W8ss5NqthZuZ8PC66 . It will be reviewed by the PREC Presentations Committee. Acceptance of proposals will conclude on January 30, 2026, or until all slots are filled with approved presentations.

    NEW YORK — SiriusXM with 360L is ready to make its Toyota debut, and drivers of the new 2026 RAV4 SUV model will be the first to enjoy the technology, which  combines satellite and streaming content delivery into a single, cohesive in-vehicle entertainment system.

    SiriusXM with 360L is available as part of the latest-generation Toyota Audio Multimedia system, which is coming to the popular RAV4 model before rolling out to future selections in the Toyota lineup.

    SiriusXM with 360L brings additional music channels and a live sports category to users, along with personalized “For You” recommendations and the ability to access related content easier.

    Custom Artist Stations are also included in SiriusXM with 360L.

    All Toyota vehicles sold or leased in the U.S. and Canada include a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM. Select Toyota dealerships can choose to add a three-year Extended Service Subscription to SiriusXM to the vehicle’s purchase or lease price.
