Taylor Swift fuels fan frenzy with news of ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ album – National | Globalnews.ca

Taylor Swift is continuing to fulfil her fans’ Wildest Dreams — this time with an announcement that a re-release of her album 1989 is on the way.

On Wednesday, during her final performance at California’s SoFi Stadium as part of her Eras Tour, Swift announced she would be releasing the highly anticipated 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

The re-recorded album will be released on Oct. 27, the same date 1989 was originally released in 2014. The new album will include five previously unreleased tracks.

Swift, 33, made the announcement during the surprise song portion of her show, a fan-favourite segment that sees the Grammy-winning singer perform two numbers not previously included in her setlist.

Swift told her screaming fans that she wanted to share something she’s been planning for a long time.

“I think instead of just telling you about it, I think I’ll just sort of show you,” Swift said as she revealed the new album art for 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

As expected, the Swifties in Los Angeles launched into raucous cheering.

Swift then performed a rendition of New Romantics from the album 1989.

On social media, the singer confirmed the news and posted a photo of the album.

“The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th,” Swift wrote. “To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!”

The announcement was also projected onto the top of the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The 1989 album included some of Swift’s most popular songs like Shake It Off and Blank Space.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) is the fourth of six albums Swift will be re-recording after a dispute with music mogul Scooter Braun and her ex-record label. The feud arose in 2019 after it was revealed Swift did not own the master recordings of her older albums. Swift has already re-recorded and released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (2021), Red (Taylor’s Version) (2021) and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) (2023).

Every Taylor’s Version album has included new album artwork, unreleased songs “from The Vault” and new music videos inspired by the album’s original era.

Eagle-eyed Swift fans expected that 1989 would be the next album to get a revamp. Last month, when she released her music video for her new song I Can See You, an unreleased from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), fans noticed a sign at the video’s end that reads “1989TV.”

As part of her ever-popular Eras Tour, Swift also changed her stage outfits from purple to blue on Wednesday — blue is associated with 1989, while purple coincides with the theming of Speak Now.

Taylor Swift’s latest “Taylor’s Version” rerecording is another hit.

Billboard is reporting that her latest, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), made its debut at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top 200 album chart.

The new version features rerecorded versions of all 14 songs from the original 2010 release, in addition to deluxe tracks “Ours” and “Superman”, and six previously unreleased “From the Vault” songs, one of which features Fall Out Boy, and another featuring  Paramore’s Hayley Williams.

During its first week of release, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) racked up 716,000 equivalent album units, of which 507,000 are in traditional album sales.

Swift’s latest chart triumph is her 12th No. 1 album, which places her in rarified air; according to Billboard, she has now officially surpassed Barbra Streisand as the female artist with the most No. 1 albums ever.

Meanwhile, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) isn’t her only album on the charts right now; at the moment, Midnights, Lover and Folklore are also holding positions in the top 10.

  • Your Weekend Playlist: New Music Releases

Your Weekend Playlist: New Music Releases

    [ad_1]

It’s been two long, arduous weeks since I last graced everyone with a playlist to listen to…and I’m left wondering if you were feeling distraught as a result? Much like you, I had to take some time on the beach for a little R&R. It would be unlike me if I didn’t flee down the shore for Independence Day!

But the good news is that I’m back, and thank goodness I wasn’t here last week to rave about Olivia Rodrigo’s ultimate Song Of The Summer, “Vampire.” I mean what a track, am I right? See, it’s already a new week full of new music and I can’t stop thinking about the perfect all-around song from Miss Rodrigo. Pathetic.

Anyways, enough about the past. That news was soooo last week, and I’m here with a fresh batch of music that is sure to get you ready for another weekend of fun. Whether you’re just relaxing and running errands or partying with your friends, get ready for a weekend playlist filled with brand new music from the week of July 5, 2023.

So get ready to turn the volume up to max level and let’s listen to this week’s new music together. We are soooo back.

Taylor Swift – Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)

My childhood self is absolutely screaming as I announce that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is out. Taylor Swift is so close to completing her recreations of her old albums, and Speak Now was always one of my favorites. With classics like Better Than Revenge (with a more PC twist), Enchanted, and The Story Of Us, you won’t want to miss a more mature Taylor singing classic breakup songs.

She never seems to stop working, with The Eras Tour happening right now and moving overseas…but don’t think she probably isn’t re-recording 1989 as we speak. It’s an entirely self-written album, just like it was when she first released it…except with features from rock gods like Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams.

    Peter McPoland – “Ceiling Fan/Piggy”

We are getting closer to Peter McPoland’s debut album, Piggy, which means new singles. This new one, “Ceiling Fan/Piggy” is what McPoland admits is “the darkest song on the album.” The song is McPoland’s way of dealing with his emotions during his parents’ divorce, where he likens himself to Lord Of The Flies character, Piggy. It’s dark, it’s intense, and it’s extremely vulnerable.

Accompanying the new single is a video directed by Keats, which perfectly pairs with the bassy drumbeat and the angsty lyrics. McPoland is gearing up to be a fan favorite already, and with the edgy “Ceiling Fan,” you get an idea of his range. You’re going to want to remember McPoland’s name after this track.

    Elyanna – “Mama Eh”

Rising Palestinian-Chilean singer has all the classic makings of a popstar: the huge vocal range, the upbeat, catchy pop tunes that make you want to dance and sing along, and a buzz of fans catapulting her into the spotlight. She’s making history by trailblazing the path for Arabic music in the United States, she performed as the first Coachella act fully in Arabic.

She’s one of Rolling Stone’s Best New Rising Artists for a reason, and “Mama Eh” will make you want to get up and dance. It’s filled with a symphony of Middle Eastern instruments and a dreamy chorus that proves who Elyanna is as an artist. She’s the one to watch as she breaks into the U.S.

Dillon Francis x Good Times Ahead – “LA On Acid”

He can do it all: sing, write songs, produce, and DJ. Dillon Francis can easily create a hit that will be played at parties across the country for years to come. This time, he’s paired up with electronic group Good Times Ahead, to create a fun, carefree single from his upcoming mixtape, This Mixtape Is FireTOO. It’s the followup to the similarly titled mixtape from 2015 that has features from artists like EVAN GIIA, Illenium, and INJI.

“LA On Acid” is the perfect addition to a weekend playlist because you truly have no worries when listening to it. There’s all good vibes from Dillon and Good Times Ahead, which is exactly what you want from a song in the summer.

  • Are We Ready For More Taylor Swift?

Are We Ready For More Taylor Swift?

    [ad_1]

It appears that Beyonce, RIhanna, and Taylor Swift collectively agreed to descend from the music heavens to grace our mortal ears with new albums. What a time for female musicians to swoop in and save the music industry as we know it.

On October 21st, Taylor Swift’s tenth album, Midnights, was released and it’s guaranteed to contain a dozen fall anthems. Ever since she announced the new album at MTV’s Video Music Awards, the public has been drooling over Taylor’s every move…and they should.

TSwift is known for her Easter Eggs, meaning no post of hers is unintentional. Little clues and hints about her album and song lyrics are often teased through Swift’s cryptic messages. Even the subtle way she holds a phone can be interpreted differently by many fans.

We know Taylor has been constantly re-recording her old tracks, the most recent being her groundbreaking Red album…but fans still want Taylor to give us new songs to obsess over. She rarely leaves us hanging, constantly feeding us with hit after hit.

There’s been many versions of Taylor since her country-pop self-titled debut album, Taylor Swift. We’ve gotten the heartbroken, lovesick teenage Taylor with albums like Speak Now and Fearless. The vengeful Taylor in Reputation. And more recently, the soft fall Tay with albums like folklore and evermore.

It’s not just the Midnights album that has sent fans into absolute pandemonium…it’s the impending promise of a stadium tour that is confirmed in the UK, meaning a US announcement can’t be far behind.

Teaming up with Spotify, Swift has been slowly releasing quips of lyrics from Swift’s new album. In a statement from Spotify, they shared:

“Listeners around the world have spent many a midnight with Taylor Swift. Through life’s triumphs, celebrations, and hardships, Taylor’s music and lyrics have always been a source of comfort when the clock strikes 12 and beyond. This is why Spotify has teamed up with Taylor to exclusively reveal lyrics from her new album Midnights around the world leading into the album’s release.”

More recently, Spotify took to Times Square to release new lyrics for Swift’s album. The lyrics? “I should not be left up to my own devices…” And now, in the state I’m in, neither should I!

Tickets for the US leg of Taylor’s Midnights tour are expected to go on sale around November, and I’m sure everyone will be fighting for the chance to see her live. More than likely, the best way to increase your chances is by purchasing an album off her website and receiving a presale code. This is the format she is using for her UK tour, so it would only make sense that the US is the same.

It’s about to be an expensive 2023…Rihanna, Beyonce, and Taylor all are anticipating stadium tours and I’m sure they aren’t the last. The likes of Billie Eilish were seen in the recording studio recently, so my pockets are already hurting.

With Midnights out Friday, we are ready for whatever Joe Alwyn-loving Taylor Swift has cooked up for us all. She just shared her release schedule and the credits list, which includes a very “chaotic” surprise. And don’t even get me started on the Karma theory …

I don’t know how the genius that is Taylor Swift can continuously shock the world and come up with new, creative ways to inspire us…but she does time and time again. A new era is upon us.
