Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were pictured publicly for the first time since announcing their engagement this week as the couple watched Kelce’s alma mater, the Cincinnati Bearcats, take on Nebraska at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the Grammy Award-winning artist announced their engagement in an Instagram post Tuesday. The caption of the photo, which showed Kelce down on one knee in a garden surrounded by flowers, read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Kelce, who played at Cincinnati alongside his brother, former NFL center Jason Kelce, was pictured with Swift in a suite at the Chiefs’ home stadium.
Swift is no stranger to Arrowhead Stadium, as it was the stage for the beginning of their love story.
The pair began dating during Swift’s landmark Eras Tour after Kelce was thwarted in his first attempt to meet Swift at her concert at Arrowhead Stadium in 2023 – a fact he made public during an episode of his “New Heights” podcast. But by September of that year, Swift was back at the stadium, cheering on Kelce alongside his mother.
Nearly two years later, Swift joined Kelce in the suite – this time sporting an engagement ring that was an old-mine brilliant-cut diamond from Kindred Lubeck.

Unfortunately for Kelce and his soon-to-be wife, Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Cornhuskers to a 20-17 victory over Cincinnati.
The Bearcats had a chance late in the fourth quarter to rebound after Brendan Sorsby managed to drive the Bearcats 75 yards and get within 20-17 with 7:15 left. But with 34 seconds left, Nebraska’s Malcolm Hartzog Jr. picked off Sorsby’s pass in the end zone.

This wasn’t the first time William and Swift met. On November 26, 2013, they duetted at the Winter White Gala at Kensington Palace, belting out the Jon Bon Jovi hit “Livin’ On a Prayer” to benefit charity. “He was very nice. I was really glad to have met him,” Swift said at the time. Years later, in a 2021 interview, William remembered his impromptu rock star moment. “I went to a charity fundraising gala for Centrepoint,” he said, where “Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift are at the event, which nearly knocked me off my feet.”
“I’m sat next to Taylor Swift. She’s on my left. And after Jon does his first song, there’s a pause, and she turns to me. She puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye, and says, ‘Come on, William. Let’s go and sing,’” he remembered. “To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I’m cringing at what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave in. But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, ‘Come with me…’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you.’”
William was “a little scared,” Taylor had recounted. The prince was even clearer: “Beneath my black tie, there was a lot of sweating going on. I felt like a swan, where I was trying to keep myself composed on the outside, but inside, the little legs are paddling fast. When I do speeches and things like that, I’ve done so many now, they’re not a problem. But I’ve not done singing. At times, when you’re taken out of your comfort zone, you’ve got to roll with it.”
Given her years of history with William, beginning with encouraging him to step out of that royal comfort zone, then, it’s no surprise that Swift has received that royal blessing for her and Kelce’s happy news.
Kansas City loves its Chiefs. And loves love apparently.
Following Taylor Swift‘s Instagram post announcing her engagement to Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Star reports that H&R Block, headquartered in Kansas City, informed its employees that they could go home early to “celebrate love.”
Tiffany Monroe, H&R Block’s chief people officer, sent an email to the company, stating:
“Let’s be honest: between checking social feeds, debating, potential wedding playlists, and most importantly — telling your friends what married filing jointly means, I know focus is in short supply this afternoon,” she wrote.
“So here’s the deal: if you’re so inclined, call it early. Go home. Celebrate love. Speculate about the dress. Argue whether the reception will be held in KC or a castle in Europe,” Monroe wrote, adding, “pick things back up tomorrow when the internet calms down.”
Ajay Anand, CEO of the diamond retailer Rare Carat, told Business Insider that Swift’s ring could be valued at about $1 million. Celebrate love indeed.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce likely didn’t leave a blank space on a prenuptial agreement.
Swift announced Kelce had proposed in an Instagram post on Aug. 26. The pop star shared photos of the intimate moment, including the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The couple’s starpower means there’s a lot at stake when it comes to their marriage. Swift and Kelce have a combined estimated net worth of about $1.67 billion, according to Forbes. However, a prenup doesn’t have to just focus on the money aspect. Swift has been notably private about the specific details of her relationships. The couple could use a prenup to protect their privacy should anything go south in their marriage, according to family law attorney Monica Mazzei.
“Given that they are both public figures, a prenup can also ensure privacy in a divorce, such as precluding any disparaging social media posts or interviews,” Mazzei, a shareholder at Buchalter, explained. “Likewise, it can require the divorce to be heard by a private judge, further limiting any public exposure.”

Due to the financial success of the singer and football star, a prenup was likely signed “far in advance” of Kelce’s romantic proposal, family lawyer Jacqueline Newman explained to Fox News Digital.
“There’s very little doubt in my mind that they’ll be negotiating after the fact,” Newman, a managing partner at Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein LLP, said. “I think that their teams would make it crucial for this to be something that must be done before the romantic gesture. So, I think they got rid of all the business part of it, and then he obviously dropped to a knee and proposed to her. But I can pretty much guarantee that the agreement is signed, sealed and already in a drawer somewhere.”

Swift’s net worth surpassed $1 billion in October 2023, with the “Eras Tour,” her rerecorded albums and her latest releases pushing her to about $1.4 billion, according to Forbes.
The singer-songwriter pulled in over $2 billion in ticket sales for the tour – which featured performances of songs from all 11 of Swift’s studio albums, the outlet reported. Swift concluded the “Eras Tour” in December 2024 and has since announced the upcoming release of her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
For his part, Kelce is worth an estimated $70 million. While his main job has been playing tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce has actually brought in the majority of his net worth from off the field. The outlet reported Kelce has earned $111 million from football, before taxes and other fees. However, he’s raked in an estimated $190 million from outside endeavors – including his and brother Jason’s $100 million “New Heights” podcast contract with Wondery.

While prenuptial agreements are often seen as a “sign of mistrust,” a senior wealth advisor explained to Fox News Digital that they are actually a “proactive tool” of protection. Couples with substantial wealth, like Swift and Kelce, face far-reaching financial implications, according to Cassandra Rupp of Vanguard.
“While every circumstance is different, it’s common for wealthy partners to explore prenuptial agreements – not as a sign of mistrust, but as a proactive tool to protect individual assets, clarify financial responsibilities and preserve harmony,” she said. “A well-crafted prenup might include provisions for existing wealth, future earnings from intellectual property or business ventures, and even philanthropic commitments.”
The wealth advisor noted it’s not unusual for couples to include future income, such as royalties, endorsements or media rights.
“Ultimately, the focus should be on transparency, mutual respect and aligning financial values to support a strong foundation for the relationship,” Rupp added.
Branding expert Eric Schiffer told Fox News Digital that if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce chose to make their wedding public, streaming rights could be worth more than $110 million.(XNY/Star Max/GC Images)
Future income could come from Swift and Kelce’s wedding, if the couple chose to make the nuptials public. The streaming contract for a Swift-Kelce wedding would likely be “north of $110 million,” according to branding expert Eric Schiffer.
“I mean this ‘I do’ is a license to print money because, you know, streamers have wedding-night prices that make the old Kim Kardashian TV photo package look like baby money,” he told Fox News Digital. “So there’s a lot of opportunity. But I don’t see them doing that. I think even though the amount is probably north of $110 million that they could make, but the reputational tax is a killing machine for both of them.”
Martha Stewart is ready to plan the wedding of the year – if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are willing to hand her the reins.
Just hours after news broke that the pop superstar and NFL tight end were engaged, Stewart, 84, made her pitch loud and clear in a viral Instagram post – and she brought wine.
The lifestyle mogul shared a cheeky split-screen post featuring a snapshot from Swift and Kelce’s romantic engagement shoot alongside a video of herself sipping a glass of white wine, which she casually dubbed “the nectar of the Gods.”

In the caption, she wrote, “It’s time to call in the ultimate wedding planner.”
In 1994, Stewart launched Martha Stewart Weddings, an annual magazine that expanded to a quarterly in 1999. Now a full-fledged digital platform, it’s still a go-to for luxury weddings and all things bridal.
Whether or not Swift and Kelce will take her up on the offer is still unknown, but fans are already imagining the floral arrangements and cake towers that could come with a Stewart-led celebration.

Swift and Kelce, both 35, announced their engagement Tuesday after two years together.
The couple announced their major relationship milestone on Instagram with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Swift is notoriously private about her relationships, and while their exact timeline is unclear, she was first spotted at a Chiefs game on Sept. 24, 2023.
She previously admitted in an interview with TIME magazine that they actually began dating long before she appeared in the stands.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said. “We started hanging out right after that. So, we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”
She added, “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple.”

Since then, the “Cruel Summer” singer has formed a close friendship with Brittany Mahomes and Kelce’s mom, Donna. The three were previously spotted on the field celebrating an AFC championship win.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has been falsely accused of a laundry list of absurdities: Doing “satanic rituals” at her shows. Being a government “psyop.” But this time, the news about her is true: She’s engaged to be married.
Swift posted a series of photos on Instagram Aug. 26, showing her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who is also no stranger to being targeted by misinformation. Even Kelce’s father, Ed, has occasionally fallen for false headlines about the couple.
We looked back at their love story through the lens of claims that would’ve, could’ve, should’ve been true, but weren’t.
Swift wasn’t banned from Chiefs games
Rumors of a Swift-Kelce romance began in August 2023, and proved true the following month when Swift attended a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears.
Since then, social media posts have often falsely declared that Swift was banned from football games. One June 2024 variation said conservative commentator Candace Owens tried to ban Swift from the NFL because of being “awfully woke,” but that originated with satire.
Sign up for PolitiFact texts
A year after Swift started attending Chiefs games, Facebook posts broke what seemed like the salacious news that Kansas City Chiefs Coach Andy Reid criticized Swift for not being a “good role model.” And another Facebook post said the Kansas City Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt banned Swift from attending games, supposedly calling her the team’s “biggest distraction.”
But these claims appeared on satire pages, too, and were reshared without that context. Reid had previously praised Swift, saying he thinks her relationship with Kelce was “great for him,” and Hunt said the two make a “fantastic couple.” We rated the claims False.
Swift and Kelce didn’t respond to controversial Elon Musk statement
During the 2024 presidential election, Swift endorsed Democratic nominee and then-Vice President Kamala Harris, which elicited a controversial reaction from billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, then a supporter of Republican candidate Donald Trump.
“Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” Musk wrote in a Sept. 11, 2024, X post.
Social media posts got in on the action, proclaiming that Kelce then threatened that he could “twist (Musk) into a pretzel.” But PolitiFact found no evidence Kelce made such a post.
A separate claim said Swift responded to Musk’s post by saying she’s happy to take Musk’s estranged transgender daughter and “give her all the love and respect she deserves.” But our sweep of Swift’s social media statements showed the superstar didn’t say that.
Another claim in November 2024 said Kelce announced he was leaving X, which Musk owns, calling it Musk’s “hate machine” and a “‘toxic waste dump’ after his scathing and hurtful comments about Taylor Swift.” We found no such announcement from Kelce, either.
Claims circulated about Swift’s politics and relationships with other celebrities
In October 2024, a Facebook post said Swift broke down, apologizing and asking Kelce for forgiveness as she admitted to “having done immoral things” with disgraced music magnate Sean “Diddy” Combs. But we found no news reports, statements or interview footage that prove she said that.
In February, the Chiefs faced off with the Philadelphia Eagles for Super Bowl LIX, which the Eagles won. But days before the game, a rumor circulated that Swift was banned from attending, because she was “distracting and woke.” But there was no proof of that. On game day, Swift, a Pennsylvania native, was in attendance, enduring boos from the crowd.
Social media users also said Trump weighed in on Swift’s and Kelce’s relationship on the day of the Super Bowl, supposedly writing on Truth Social that Swift’s presence was a “distraction for Travis Kelce.” That was a fake post, although Trump had posted about Swift numerous times, including about her support of his Democratic rivals.
In June, when “No Kings” rallies popped up across the country protesting Trump and his administration, social media posts shared photos that they said showed the couple joining in. We rated those claims Pants on Fire!
The global economy may be trying to get Out Of The Woods, but a celebrity wedding might just be what it needs to Shake It Off after pop star Taylor Swift announced her engagement to two-time Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce.
The news is spurring hope that it could bring a much-needed boost to retail sales and consumer spending.
Swift’s impact on local economies and retail has long been the subject of study, with one estimate claiming that the singer-songwriter’s 2023 U.S. tour may have generated US$4.6 billion in total consumer spending, larger than the GDP of 35 countries.
Canada, too, was left feeling the Lavender Haze from the performer’s shows here.

Payment processing firm Moneris released data indicating downtown Vancouver saw a 154 per cent increase in spending levels during her Eras Tour in 2024 — a spike not seen since the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the report said.
Clothing stores saw a 923 per cent increase in sales, while sales of cosmetics rose 529 per cent. Variety stores saw a 178 per cent increase in sales volumes.
Swift and Kelce’s engagement has the potential to garner as much attention, if not more, than the Eras Tour, some experts argue.
“Taylor Swift actually broke Instagram for a little bit. Meta put out a report that they had some outages because this was one of the most-liked Instagram posts ever,” said Bree McEwan, a professor at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology.
“You have two very, very involved fandoms who are coming together — more the Swifties than the NFL guys — to celebrate a relationship that they’ve been watching for a while.”
‘It’s a love story’: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announce engagement
Less than 24 hours after the couple announced their engagement, e-commerce platform Etsy was flooded with Taylor-Travis merchandise.

Images of the couple holding each other, touching foreheads, are emblazoned on T-shirts and sweatshirts selling for as much as $100 on the site.
Other merch includes onesies for babies with the text, “My English teacher and gym teacher are getting married,” a reference to Swift and Kelce’s Instagram caption announcing their engagement.
McEwan said Swift’s fandom — or Swifties, as they like to dub themselves — are particularly suited for a merchandise boom. That’s because of Swift’s proclivity for catchy lyrics and Easter eggs hidden throughout her music and engagement with the public.
“Taylor Swift fans have their own sort of secret language and secret code,” she said.

The 2018 wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle is said to have added 1.05 billion pounds, or US$1.43 billion, to the British economy.
But the impact of individual artists or events on the broader economy might be overstated, said Moshe Lander, economist at Concordia University.
Parasocial interaction: Why Swifties were elated about her engagement to Kelce
“Taylor Swift is the 21st-century answer to Madonna,” he said.

“We would go crazy when she (Madonna) was releasing her album or when she was making headlines in the tabloids for who she was dating. Did it improve our quality of life? Is the Gen X standard of living better because of the Madonna effect? No, of course not,” he said.
While the impact around a major event could help retail sales in some sectors, it might hurt others.
“They (fans) have to take their disposable income from somewhere else to move it towards the tickets,” he said, citing the example of the Eras Tour shows in Toronto.
For example, someone spending money on Eras Tour tickets or merchandise might choose to delay spending money in other areas, such as on a home renovation or eating out. This is because without the pot growing, most people have the same amount of money to spend on discretionary expenses.

“The economic impact of Taylor Swift might be positive in and around the Rogers Centre. But it’s negative in and around the Eaton Centre,” Lander added.

Swift, Kelce and their marketing team have been careful not to alienate fans who might be feeling the pinch in their pocketbooks, McEwan said.
“This is a depressed economy, and it’s not going to resonate with her fans if she has very over the top and very expensive and very gaudy kinds of choices,” she added.
Economic observers should be wary of overstating the impact, Lander cautioned.
“She is not an economic engine for anything other than herself, as she should be,” he said.
Taylor Swift announces new album on her boyfriend’s podcast
Whether or not the Swift-Kelce wedding spurs new spending across their fanbase, it can certainly shape retail trends among fans with disposable income who were already predisposed to spending.

“You’re already seeing it with the engagement ring, right? That’s a really unusual cut,” McEwan said.
“If you are currently thinking about engagement rings and wedding dresses, you’re going to see the things that Taylor showcases to her fans,” she added.
A sparkling diamond ring can be seen on Taylor Swift’s finger. According to some reports, it is an old mine brilliant cut designed by Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry. Swift can be seen wearing a watch to go with the look, with a golden strap and a rectangular white dial, a style that complements her ring.

Montreal-based Chateau D’Ivoire, a high-end jeweller, said its clients have been asking them about similar designs, less than 24 hours after Swift posted a picture of her engagement ring.
“They’ve been talking with me about the size, the cushion cut, the style, the design and how they designed it,” said Rachel Zhang, sales professional at Chateau D’Ivoire.
“She was wearing a vintage Cartier watch, to match her vintage engagement ring, which is stunning. This could be a timeless piece forever,” she said, adding that they’ve also been getting inquiries about watches.

Taylor Swift unveils new album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast
The internet is already abuzz, McEwan said.
“There’s already entire Reddit boards devoted to what this ring is and how much it costs and how can you get a cushion cut like that,” she said.
But most people can’t afford a billionaire’s taste in jewelry.
“Not everyone can afford the kind of luxury that Taylor can afford,” McEwan said.
“What you’ll see is different (cheaper) spinoffs on the trends,” she added.
Etsy sellers are already trying to cash in, with fake-diamond rings that look like Swift’s ring being sold for as little as $300. Even high-end jewellers are trying to cater to different customer bases.
“Not many people will go looking for that big a cut. Taylor is wearing 13 carats. That’s a huge stone. From our experience, people are looking for something around one carat or two carats. Even three carats is rare,” Zhang said.

However, McEwan added that Swifties should temper their expectations about how much the couple may want to broadcast.
“She’s got a huge marketing team behind her and they’re very savvy at thinking through what pieces do they show and what do they not show,” she said, adding that Swift is particularly wary of fans developing parasocial relationships with her.
“She has to manage it very carefully because people can get over-involved,” McEwan added.

Whether you’re a die-hard Swiftie or not, you can agree that anything Taylor Swift does has an unmatched impact. Whether it’s the resurgence of friendship bracelets thanks to her “Eras” tour, the endless obsession with her Mac red lipstick, or wearing denim dresses to the gym, the star brings a whole new meaning to the word “influence.” As if her new album tease on Aug. 12 (at 12:12 a.m. to be exact), wasn’t enough to leave fans in a frenzy, Swift just achieved her biggest internet-breaking moment yet — her engagement.
In an Instagram post, the 35-year-old star and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce broke the happy news, with Swift’s cushion-cut vintage diamond engagement ring (estimated at $550,000) and naked manicure being the center of attention. While fans couldn’t stop staring at her ridiculously huge rock, her navy-and-white striped midi dress by Ralph Lauren also stole the spotlight during the momentous occasion — so much so that it sold out in 20 minutes.

A bejeweled Taylor Swift broke Instagram records Tuesday as the pop star and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce announced their engagement in a joint post.
Fans have been eager to learn everything they can about the engagement into the lead-up to this TBD white veil occasion.
Here’s what we know so far about your English teacher and gym teacher’s engagement:
When did Swift and Kelce get engaged?
The couple announced their engagement on Aug. 26, 13 days after Swift’s “New Heights” episode dropped. Fans were quick to speculate about when Kelce popped the question — and they didn’t have to wait long before getting a timeline from Kelce’s dad Ed, who told News 5 Cleveland that the couple got engaged roughly two weeks ago.
Ed said he was at the Philadelphia Eagles’ public practice on Aug. 10 when he got a FaceTime from the newly engaged couple. He told “The Jimmy & Nath Show” that Travis had planned to propose next weekend.
“He was going to make a big production out of it,” Ed shared, explaining that Travis wanted it to be “uber special.”
“And I told him the same thing [Swift’s dad] Scott told him: Asking her is what’s going to make it special, not where you do it. You could do it on the side of the road.”
Ed said Swift’s dad told him to “just get it done.”
Where did Kelce pop the question?
Kelce proposed on the grounds of his $6 million Missouri home, which he purchased back in 2023. The engagement photos show a dramatic display of flowers adorning an arch and surrounding the couple.
Florist Ashley Greer told People Magazine that the “enchanted garden” scene, which featured thousands of flowers, likely cost nearly $40,000. Also featured — ivy and willow, a likely nod to two songs off Swift’s ninth studio album, “evermore.”
What do we know about the ring?
Kelce skipped the paper rings and went for a custom old mine brilliant cut in a yellow gold bezel setting. Swift’s representative said New York based goldsmith Kindred Lubeck, who specializes in hand engraving, designed the ring.
Old mine brilliant cuts are often boxy shaped with rounded corners and soft curved edges. They usually have 58 large facets and the style dates to the 18th century. The bulky nature of the cut was intended to sparkle by candlelight.
Where it all began
As Swifties and Chief fans alike already know, their relationship began after Kelce’s failed attempt to meet Swift at Arrowhead Stadium. He talked about the show in a July 2023 episode of his “New Heights” podcast, telling his brother Jason Kelce that he was disappointed that he wasn’t able to give her a friendship bracelet he had made with his number on it.
After the episode aired, Swift heard from people close to Kelce, including Chiefs coach Andy Reid, encouraging her to reach out to him. And the rest is history.
On Swift’s episode of the “New Heights” podcast, which aired Aug. 13 and smashed Guinness World records, she said the friendship bracelet gesture made her feel like she was in a 1980s John Hughes movie.
“[It’s like] he was just standing outside of my window with a boombox just being like, ‘I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?’” she said. “I was like, ‘If this guy isn’t crazy … this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”
“This podcast has done a lot for me,” she said. “This podcast got me a boyfriend.”
Taylor Swift’s got a long list of ex-boyfriends. That much we already know. There’s an entire song about it. But her recent engagement to Travis Kelce is a commitment from the singer and the football player that she won’t have any more, and that all future songs from her will either be happy… or fictional. But how do her ex-boyfriends feel about her engagement and about the fact that they will now be the only ones to get breakup songs?
Well, one of them had a very loud reaction to her engagement. A mere hours after Swift and Kelce confirmed the news that they were indeed going to tie the knot, Taylor Lautner went on social media to react to the news. The Twilight hunk reshared a post from the NFL to support his ex and her future husband, proving there’s no bad blood between them. Not at all.
The post from the NFL featured a split image of one of the couple’s engagement photos with one of the two on the football field, celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs winning the AFC Championship back in January of this year. The text on the photo reads: “I cannot believe this is really happening,” which is what Taylor said to Travis when his team won. The NFL captioned the post: “Same,” a clear nod to the couple’s engagement. Taylor Swift is now NFL royalty, after all.
Of all her exes, Taylor has perhaps always had the best relationship with Lautner, and the two are now reportedly very good friends. Long gone are the days when Swift sang “It turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missin’ you” after they broke up in the song “Back to December.” They briefly dated for a few months in 2009 while filming the ensemble romantic comedy Valentine’s Day. Years later, the duo rekindled their relationship, and Lautner and his wife, Taylor Dome, are reportedly now close with the singer, which explains the social media reaction.
And these aren’t just anonymous reports, either. Swift herself confirmed it. “He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video,” Swift said at her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City, as she brought Lautner on stage to premiere the music video he appears in for her song “I Can See You.” She added: “He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name.”
We can imagine the jokes about that.
As for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement, it might have just been announced on August 26, but a source told Page Six that Travis proposed to Taylor a “couple weeks” before the two made the announcement. An exact date hasn’t been confirmed. This, however, means Travis and Taylor likely got engaged mid-August, you know, around the time she appeared on the “New Heights” podcast hosted by the Kelce brothers and announced her 12th album,The Life of a Showgirl. All in a day’s work when you’re Taylor Swift, apparently.
Even her friends don’t really seem surprised if they’re joking about it. Just really happy for her.
Taylor Swift found “the one” in NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift shared Tuesday on Instagram.
The global pop star is finally able to close out her dating playbook after finding her husband in Kelce. The two first sparked romantic speculation in 2023 after Swift attended one of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s football games. “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Swift told TIME magazine. “We started hanging out right after that. So, we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple.”
Before her romance with Kelce became endgame, Swift was romantically connected to a handful of A-list stars – Harry Styles, John Mayer and Jake Gyllenhaal to name a few.

Swift and fellow musician Joe Jonas dated throughout 2008. The short-lived romance made headlines after Swift revealed Jonas ended the relationship during a phone call. The singer-songwriter confirmed the song “Forever and Always” from her album “Fearless” was about Jonas.
“When I find that person that is right for me, he’ll be wonderful. And when I look at that person, I’m not even going to be able to remember the boy that broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18,” Swift said during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
While a handful of other songs have been linked to Jonas, including “Mr. Perfectly Fine” and “Last Kiss,” the two seem to be friendly years later.
The two met while filming “Valentine’s Day” alongside Julia Roberts, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx and more.
Lautner attended the infamous 2009 MTV Video Music Awards with Swift, where her feud with rapper Kanye West first began.
Fans have long speculated that Swift’s “Back to December” ballad from her album “Speak Now” was about her relationship with Lautner. Despite the emotional breakup, the two have remained friends. Lautner joined Swift on stage at the “Eras Tour” in 2023 to announce the music video for her song “I Can See You,” which featured the actor.
John Mayer

John Mayer and Swift never publicly confirmed their romance, but the two did perform together a handful of times in 2009 after collaborating on Mayer’s song “Half of my Heart.” The collaboration came about after Mayer tweeted that he wanted to work with Swift.
Following the end of the rumored relationship, each musician released a break-up song, which many believed was about their romance. Swift released “Dear John” on “Speak Now” in 2010, while Mayer released “Paper Doll.” Fans picked out lyrics from the song “Dear John” that seemingly referenced the romance, including, “Don’t you think nineteen is too young / To be played by your dark twisted games / When I loved you so?”
Taylor Swift’s song “All Too Well” is reportedly inspired by her breakup with Jake Gyllenhaal.(Getty Images)
Swift was romantically linked to Jake Gyllenhaal in 2010 after the two were photographed in New York City together. The two were later spotted spending time together on Thanksgiving, but the relationship seemingly fell apart after Swift spent her 21st birthday alone.
Gyllenhaal turned 30 days later.
While neither Swift nor Gyllenhaal have spoken out about their short-lived romance, fans have speculated her song “All Too Well” was about the actor. Fans doubled down on the theory after Swift released “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” which featured additional lyrics.
“You, who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes / Sipping coffee like you’re on a late-night show / But then he watched me watch the front door all night, willing you to come / And he said, ‘It’s supposed to be fun turning twenty-one.’”
Conor Kennedy

In 2012, Taylor Swift dated Conor Kennedy – Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s son.
Speculation about a blossoming romance between Kennedy and Swift first began in the summer, after the “Midnights” singer spent the 4th of July holiday with the family. The two allegedly called it quits by October.
Fans have connected Swift’s romance with Kennedy to the crooner’s song “Begin Again” from her fourth album, “Red.”

Swift was first linked to Harry Styles in November 2012. Styles paid a visit to Swift during her rehearsals for a performance on “The X Factor.” Speculation about their romance intensified after Swift and Styles were spotted on a date in NYC’s Central Park roughly a month later. By January 2013, the couple had allegedly called it quits.
Swift released “1989” in October of that year and many fans speculated the album’s hits were about her relationship with Styles – including “Style” and “Out of the Woods.”
Styles later praised Swift’s songwriting when asked how he felt when it comes to exes writing songs about him.
“I think about what it means to me to write a song about somebody else and for somebody else to do that, it’s like flattering, even if the song isn’t that flattering, you still spent time on it and ultimately, using Taylor as an example, she’s a great songwriter. So at least they’re good songs,” he told Howard Stern in 2020.
Calvin Harris

Swift was linked to DJ Calvin Harris from March 2015 until June 2016.
The couple’s breakup was seemingly amicable, with a source telling People magazine “there was no drama” and “things just don’t work out sometimes.”
It later came to light that Swift and Harris’ breakup might have been connected to the couple’s secret collaboration on the DJ’s hit song “This Is What You Came For.”
Swift allegedly wrote the song and did the demo, which she shared with Harris. The two agreed to keep the collaboration secret and Swift was given credit under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg.
Things took a turn for the worse after Harris said he didn’t plan to work with Swift in the future while promoting the song. “You know, we haven’t even spoken about it. I can’t see it happening, though,” he said at the time.

In one of Swift’s most controversial dating moves, the pop star began dating “Avengers” star Tom Hiddleston – whom she met at the 2016 Met Gala while dating Calvin Harris – just 15 days after her breakup with the DJ.
The couple’s relationship lasted three months before the pair called it quits.
Swift reportedly felt overwhelmed by the public perception of her relationship with Hiddleston. “Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection,” an insider told US Weekly. “But Tom didn’t listen to her concerns when she brought them up.”
Joe Alwyn

Swift’s most recent – and longest relationship to date – was with actor Joe Alwyn. The two dated rather privately for six years. Swift later revealed the timeline of their love affair in a diary entry included with the deluxe edition of her “Lover” album.
“I’m essentially based in London, hiding out trying to protect us from the nasty world that just wants to ruin things,” the pop star wrote in an entry dated January 2017. “We have been together and no one has found out for 3 months now.”
Even the end of Swift’s relationship with Alwyn was shrouded in secrecy. The news was shared with the world in April 2023, right after Swift kicked off “The Eras Tour,” but few details were revealed.
“They had plenty in common and fell in love in a safe bubble while she was retreating from the world during ‘Reputation,’” a source told People magazine at the time. “Then, the pandemic hit, and they were locked down together and able to continue growing their relationship in this insulated way. But he didn’t really ‘know’ her yet outside of that bubble.”
Alwyn reportedly struggled “with Taylor’s level of fame and the attention from the public.”
“I actually just received my 12th text of people being like, ‘Taylor Kelce?’” said Taylor Swift fan Shannon Duncan.
The two fandoms are all a buzz following the Enchanted engagement announcement.
“My sister texted me. I got a news notification. My other sister texted me,” said Taylor Swift fan Kelly Dopak. “Some lady in front of us started talking about it. She was wearing a Taylor Swift t-shirt, like, ‘How did you know this was happening today?’”
It is official: The Prophecy has been fulfilled, and Swift and Kelce are End Game.
“Great job Kelce. You chose well,” said Eddie Hill. “He’s one of the biggest stars in the NFL. She’s one of the biggest stars in the world. Nothings bigger than that… huge.”
The post showed off photos in a flower-filled garden straight out of many of our Wildest Dreams and Swift’s “So High School” as the attached sound, a scene mirroring the romanticism Swifties know All Too Well.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially engaged.
Meta says the couple’s Instagram post broke the record for the most reposts on the social media site and got over 14 million likes just in the first hour.
Now, Swifties worldwide are envisioning the songstress standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset for what wedding event planners have appropriately called “the Super Bowl of Weddings.”
“Being America’s sweethearts, they are a royal couple, and I knew this was going to break the internet,” said Big City Bride Founder Susan Cordogan. “What Travis and Taylor do will be its own brand. It will be one of one that will echo through generations of events.”
Cordogan has spent three decades planning VIP weddings and already anticipates this one will set the stage for trends for future weddings.
“It’s not only going to be wildly influential in the wedding world; it’s going to be wildly influential in style, in decor, parties, get-togethers,” Cordogan said. “Taylor Swift is such an influence on weddings already, from her music, often the first dance to her look.”
This August, it’s not a Cruel Summer anymore. Even ABC7 Chicago AccuWeather Meteorologist Cheryl Scott is getting in on the fun.
ABC7 Chicago AccuWeather Meteorologist Cheryl Scott shares her Taylor Swift-inspired forecast after the pop star announced her engagement to Travis Kelce.
And ABC7 has already heard of people in our area planning engagement parties for the couple.
The couple’s engagement announcement comes on the heels of Swift announcing her newest album. Fans will parse through lyrics for Easter egg for hints on plans for the big day, when the couple’s Love Story will officially be Forever & Always.
The Syrian national, whom prosecutors have identified only as Mohammad A. in line with German privacy rules, was convicted of preparing a serious act of violence and supporting a terrorist act of violence abroad. The Berlin court gave him a suspended 18-month sentence.
Austrian officials said he had planned to attack outside the stadium with knives or explosives. CIA Deputy Director David Cohen said last year that the suspects wanted to kill “tens of thousands” of Swift’s fans.
The defendant made a “comprehensive confession” at his trial, which was held behind closed doors because of his age, according to the court. The verdict can be appealed.
Judges found that the defendant, then aged 14, supported the ideology of the Islamic State group at the time and was in contact via social media with a young man in neighboring Austria who planned to attack a Swift concert in Vienna.
The court said they found that, among other things, the defendant sent his acquaintance a video with bomb-building instructions and organized contact with an IS member.

Austrian authorities on Aug. 7, 2024, arrested two suspects just before three Swift concerts in Vienna were canceled. Concert organizers in Austria said they had expected up to 65,000 fans inside the stadium at each concert and as many as 30,000 onlookers outside, where authorities said the suspects planned to strike.
Austrian authorities took a third suspect into custody a day later, and investigators said they found bomb-making materials at one of the suspects’ homes.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may have announced their engagement on Tuesday afternoon but the Kansas City Chiefs star’s father spilled the beans on when his son actually proposed.
Ed Kelce told a local Cleveland TV station that the three-time Super Bowl champion proposed about two weeks ago. The photos posted on Swift’s Instagram account showed the tight end down on one knee, surrounded by flowers in a garden setting.

“Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,” Ed Kelce told News 5 Cleveland on Tuesday. “He was going to put it off ‘til this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off ‘til this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.
“And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”
Ed Kelce said that Travis proposed in a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine.’ … They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” he added. “They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.”
Ed Kelce said he was at Philadelphia Eagles practice when he received the call. The beaming father couldn’t have been happier for his son and soon-to-be daughter-in-law.
Kelce and Swift’s relationship had been a focal point of the NFL season since she showed up to Arrowhead Stadium to support the Chiefs tight end against the Chicago Bears. Since then, Swift routinely attended games in Kansas City and was there two years ago to watch the Chiefs go to the Super Bowl.

It’s a love story, and roommates, Taylor Swift said YES to Travis Kelce! The couple is engaged after two years of courtship in front of her eager fans, a.k.a the Swifties! In a social media post, the superstar singer and football player revealed their major life update. Now, the engagement is the talk of the internet!
Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Share Engagement Photos
When they met, Travis Kelce was a famous football player — a star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs and a Super Bowl champion — but Taylor Swift’s level of fame is like no other. Their relationship truly made him global, thanks to the Swifties. Fans and media have documented plenty of public gestures in the last two years, from Taylor celebrating at Chiefs games to fan videos of Travis Kelce dancing at her Eras concert tour. Still, there’s been some trolling and doubts about the relationship’s authenticity. In the end, though, the couple paid it dust and kept publicly dating. Most recently, she appeared on her future brother-in-law’s podcast and talked about how hard she ignores the critics of their relationship.
“We don’t, really. I don’t see a lot of things,” Taylor told Jason Kelce. “My name can be in the actual headline, and it’s none of my business.”
After two years of moving like THAT, Taylor Swift is rocking an engagement ring that could compete with her fiancé’s three Super Bowl rings. As mentioned, the newly engaged couple shared their big news in a five-photo joint Instagram post on Tuesday (August 26). She showed off her stunning ring while standing in a garden with her fiancé. The superstar wore a striped Ralph Lauren dress and a Cartier diamond-encrusted watch on her left wrist.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the caption read, accompanied by an emoji of a dynamite stick.
It’s unclear when and where the two 35-year-olds got engaged, but it’s a first for them both. According to the Associated Press, an hour after hearing from their publicists about the engagement, Kelce was stretching for practice in Kansas City, Missouri.
What To Know About Taylor Swift’s ROCK
One thing Taylor Swift’s fans know about her, sis loves her vintage style! So, it’s no surprise that her now-fiancé took notes and executed the vision with her engagement ring. The cut of the diamond reportedly dates back to the 18th century and is known as an old mine brilliant cut. Old mine brilliant cuts are often boxy shaped with rounded corners and soft curved edges. Taylor Swift’s diamond is in a yellow gold bezel setting. Such diamonds usually have 58 large facets. Additionally, the bulky nature of the cut is meant to sparkle by candlelight.
According to BRIDES, experts estimate the ring could cost upwards of $500,000. Meanwhile, several experts who spoke to PEOPLE estimated the price would be between $250,000 and up to $1.5 million.
Swift’s publicist, Tree Paine, said Kindred Lubeck crafted the unique piece. According to her website bio, Lubeck is a goldsmith who specializes in hand engraving and collects vintage jewelry. She is based in New York and operates Artifex Fine Jewelry. She is the daughter of Jay Lubeck, a well-known goldsmith in Neptune Beach, Florida.
Daddy Kelce Approves Of Taylor BTW
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship featured prominently in the six-part ESPN documentary The Kingdom. The project chronicles the Chiefs’ failed pursuit of an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl title last season. Kelce’s parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, joined him on the red carpet for the premiere last Sunday. The event took place at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City. While there, Ed didn’t hold back on what he thinks of Taylor.
“She’s very good for him. I don’t hesitate in saying that,” Ed said of his future daughter-in-law. “They are two people that truly deserve each other.”
Taylor Swift’s summer seems to be anything but cruel: Hot on the heels of announcing her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, and its attendant 97,000 vinyl variants (so far), with Travis Kelce at her side, the pair made another big announcement Tuesday. In a joint Instagram post, the couple shared news of their engagement, Swift flashing a 10-plus-carat cushion-cut diamond ring in a fairytale garden crammed with the lushest of blooms.
The message is clear: Karma is her fiance, thankyouverymuch.
Just over a month before she drops her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, and a week and change away from the Kansas City Chiefs’ season opener, Swift and Kelce have once again snatched the day’s headlines together by sharing the happy news. Don’t spend it all in one place? Nah, they seem to say, blow the bank. Scrooge McDuck the currency of happiness and success.
It’s a marked change from the past two years of Swift and Kelce’s public relationship: As the so-called dads, Brads, and Chads sniveled about seeing Swift cheering during cutaways at NFL games and complained about the star “ruining” the sport (if it’s that easy to ruin, how big of fans could they have been in the first place?) and analysts wrung their hands about the possibility of the singer being a distraction, Swift and Kelce kept their profile as low as possible for two of the world’s most famous people. Yes, they kept showing up for one another’s professional triumphs, but stepped carefully to minimize critique.
Now? They’re done playing coy. If Swift ever had an ounce of division between her work and her personal life, she set it on fire when she featured Kelce in an onstage Eras Tour cameo scooping her off the ground in the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” intro in London, dropped dynamite on it by announcing The Life of a Showgirl on his podcast with a two-hour conversation with him and brother Jason Kelce, and then threw in some napalm for good measure by soundtracking this engagement post with “So High School,” a song she wrote about him. He’s part of her work and her life, at this point, and the world’s just going to have to live with that. Contrast that with lyrics from Swift’s 2022 Midnights track “Lavender Haze,” in which she laments that “all they keep askin’ me is if I’m gonna be your bride / The only kind of girl they see is a one-night or a wife.” (Kelce gets the questions too.) Then-Taylor waved the question off. Now-Taylor has gone full Miss Americana, donning a white silk Polo Ralph Lauren sundress with black pinstripes, complemented by Kelce’s classic navy cable-knit short-sleeve polo sweater by the same brand, and smiling huge, flashing that enormous Artifex Fine engagement ring and letting people think what they’ll think.
Even Donald Trump, who seems to have a one-sided rivalry with Swift and recently shared his opinion that she was “NO LONGER HOT” since he declared his hatred for her (Sydney Sweeney, on the other hand, was “HOTTEST,” he said, since finding out she’s a registered Republican in the wake of her American Eagle “good jeans” campaign fiasco), was forced to sigh and accept the news. A journalist broke the news to Trump as he emerged from a Cabinet meeting and asked for his reaction.
“Well, I wish him a lot of luck,” Trump said. “I think he’s a great player. I think he’s a great guy. And I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck.”
So much for Trump being “not a Taylor Swift fan” and liking apparent Republican Brittany Mahomes “much better than Taylor Swift,” as he proclaimed ahead of last year’s Super Bowl, eh?
Swift, who again wore that diamond-trimmed Cartier watch she’s been so fond of recently in the couple’s engagement photos, probably won’t say anything about it, just like she didn’t say anything about him using an AI photo of her implying her endorsement, or several of his other slams and fibs. Why should she humor it with a response? As she herself sang in The Tortured Poets’ Department’s “But Daddy I Love Him,” “No, you can’t come to the wedding.”
As she said on New Heights, her relationship with Kelce “is what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.” She bought back her masters, and now she’s owning her narrative right along with them. As her tyrannical hot girl cult pairs off one by one—Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, the list goes on—Swift, too, is growing up to live the reality she’s been writing for herself all along, no apologies necessary or offered.
You’ve been waiting for it and finally, one photograph changed the lives of Swifties everywhere: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged. This news comes after months of speculation from Taylor Swift’s most devoted fanbase.
When Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce began dating each other, fans instantly speculated that this was going to end up with the two getting married. And with each passing season that Kelce has been tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, it has furthered that speculation. But now, it is official: The two are getting married!
The news comes right after Swift announced the title for her next album, The Life of a Showgirl. There is no news yet if songs on the album are inspired by Kelce and their relationship but the album will be released on October 3.
Swift shared the news by writing “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married” in the caption. Now, those are the best paid English and gym teachers in the game but hey, it is a pretty apt description of the two of them. In the photographs, Swift shared a close up shot of her engagement ring, the two surrounded by flowers, and one of her and Kelce on a swing together.
Writer Sophie Vershbow pointed out that the engagement is sweet because Swift did take her time finding the right match for her when it comes to Kelce. “An intelligent woman dating many different men until she finds the right match instead of settling for a ring from the wrong partner. We love to see it.”
Somehow, a boy from Ohio convinced a girl from Pennsylvania to marry him and that is the true story here. But it is exciting to see how happy Swift is with Kelce and we wish the two the best!
