    Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce officially “hard-launched” their romance on Oct. 15, stepping out in New York City hand-in-hand. Making separate appearances on “Saturday Night Live,” the new couple coordinated for the show’s afterparty in the most classic fall outfits. The Kansas City Chiefs tight-end went for the quintessential palette of the season with brown leather pants, a white button-down layered underneath a cream embroidered jacket, and white sneakers. Meanwhile, the “Cruel Summer” singer opted for black and gray, with a Gant houndstooth trench coat layered over the Medusa corset top from Versace and loose-fitting trousers to match. She then completed the ensemble with black open-toe heels, assorted gold jewelry, and Aupen’s Nirvana leather bag with a braided handle.

    The two lovebirds then followed up with another stylish night out, while enjoying dinner at the Waverly Inn. Swift took a ’90s approach to her look with a sheer, floral mesh top from Jean Paul Gaultier with a black leather miniskirt and ankle combat boots from Louis Vuitton. She accessorized with a burgundy leather bag from Roger Vivier and her blonde tresses styled in a braided bun. Additionally, Kelce complimented his new beau with a light, beige corduroy two-piece set that featured an oversize button-down shirt and baggy pants. He wore a classic black tee underneath while finishing the ensemble with white Nike sneakers.

    While they make quite stylish duo, both stars have produced noteworthy fashion moments individually. Apart from her statement-making tour wardrobe, Swift has enjoyed a sporty renaissance (perhaps influenced by her new status at football girlfriend) with various game-day looks ranging from Chiefs windbreakers and New Balances to Area embellished denim shorts and Christian Louboutin boots. In the same way, the NFL star has amassed a reputation as one of the league’s best-dressed, often donning unconventional suits like his deconstructed Dior suit for an “SNL” appearance in March. Kelce also makes team facilities his runway with his most recent white button-down and crushed velvet pants combo that fans speculated as a subtle ode to Swift.

    Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce and their clasped hands were all over New York City this weekend, first on the way into the Saturday Night Live afterparty after their dual surprise cameos on the sketch comedy show, and on Sunday evening walking out of the Waverly Inn after dinner. 

    Let’s borrow Swift’s own lyrics and apply them to the rumored romantic relationship between Swift and Kelce: Call it what you want, yeah, call it what you want to. Neither the biggest name in football nor Kelce has officially defined the relationship, but that’s not what we’re here to talk about.  We saw them holding hands and we have thoughts.

    Namely, fans just can’t stop comparing Miss Americana and the Touchdown Prince with Swift’s previous relationship, the six largely undercover years she spent dating actor Joe Alwyn. Nobody has caught a smooch between Swift and Kelce on camera as of yet, but there’s an unmissable contrast between the notoriously paparazzi-averse Alwyn and the coy-yet-public outings of Swift and Kelce. They literally drove off in a getaway car together the first time they were seen in the same place. They inspired a dip revolution. They led Swifties the world ’round to learn once and for all what a field goal is. This weekend, fans took note that Kelce let Swift duck into the car before him and he appeared to shield her from crowds. And then there are those clasped hands.

    Holding hands is a primal instinct, used throughout life as an act of trust, survival, and intimacy. Even newborn babies hold hands: When you touch a baby’s palm, they reflexively grasp your finger. It’s not only very cute, it’s a hardwired survival instinct. Science tells us that human touch triggers oxytocin, the so-called “cuddle hormone,” meaning hand-holding can be part of a stress-relief loop, which brings other benefits like heart health. It may all look simple, but the act of using the palm’s 17 muscles in concert with 34 muscles total to control the movement of the thumb and fingers to grab a hand has a ripple effect.

    As for how Swift and Kelce are touching paws, they’ve shown range in their short time. We’ve seen Kelce cupping one of Swift’s hands in both of his on the sidewalk, the duo with their fingers interlaced, and even the palm-to-palm clamshell clasp, fingers together like they’re cosplaying as their very own Lego figurines. These can all apparently mean different things, but one thing seems to be clear: Swift and Kelce are having the time of their lives, hands down.

    Billed instantly as a “three-hour career-spanning victory lap,” Taylor Swift’s sixth tour is, needless to say, her most ambitious yet. Part of that ambitiousness has extended to releasing it as a concert film while still touring the world with the production. Obviously, she’s not worried about losing any profits by making it available to the “broke asses” who couldn’t manage to get themselves to the real thing. And even to those who already did, but simply want to see it in an even more “larger than life” format (IMAX being designed to accommodate such a desire). As Swift says, “Too big to hang out/Slowly lurching toward your favorite city.” That she is, as movie theaters across the globe roll out the reel and proceed to endure what can best be described, rather unoriginally, as Swiftmania. Indeed, one wishes Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr would weigh in on the matter, but instead non-Beatle Billy Joel already decided of Swiftie fanaticism and the Eras Tour, “The only thing I can compare it to is the phenomenon of Beatlemania.”

    Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone tapped into part of why people are so, ugh, enchanted with the tour when he wrote, “​​Taylor Swift keeps building the legend of her Eras Tour, week after week, city by city, making every night so much longer, wilder, louder, more jubilant than it has to be. There’s nothing in history to compare. This is her best tour ever, by an absurd margin. It’s a journey through her past, starring all the different Taylors she’s ever been, which means all the Taylors that you’ve ever been.” The thing about that, of course, is, well, Swift hasn’t exactly been all that multi-dimensional over the years. Sure, she’s changed her sound from country to pop and dabbled with some musical styles in between, but, in the end, she’s still the Aryan wet dream wearing red lipstick. Steadfastly committed to delivering a good time without much of any true substance to say in her position of power. Not through the music itself anyway (unless one counts the forced feeling of “allyship” in “You Need To Calm Down”). Over every so-called era, that has remained the most constant of all—Swift’s singular focus on one non-political topic and one non-political topic only: bad boyfriends. And, sometimes, when she’s cresting on the high of being in love, “good” boyfriends…before they inevitably turn bad. 

    This is one of the key aspects of Swift’s “relatability quotient.” With the “everywoman” seeing themselves in her despite the fact that few “average” women are giraffe tall, thin, blonde and blue-eyed. The Barbie ideal, as it were. Once upon a time, this was embodied by Britney Spears, who experienced a similar level of fervor at her so-called peak (that word always suggesting, somewhat rudely, that a person will never be as good as they were at a certain moment in time). The fundamental difference between the two is that Swift has remained America’s sweetheart throughout her career, while Britney defiantly ripped off the shackles of that role when she shaved her head and, months later, gave a somnambulant performance of “Gimme More” at the MTV VMAs. Up until that instance, Spears had always been a consummate performer. Dancing, (mostly) singing and sexing it up for the crowd. She chose one year in her life to have a rightly deserved breakdown, and things never really went back to being the same for her. 

    In 2007, Swift (a Sagittarius like Britney) was eighteen, and had just released her self-titled debut one year prior. This reality seemed to reinforce that, when it comes to the music industry, there is always another young(er) blonde pop star in the making, waiting to take over for the current “hot thing.” And Swift would embody the same “I’m a good girl who does as I’m told” aura (that Britney initially did) for the vast majority of her career. Herself admitting, “My entire moral code as a kid and now is a need to be thought of as good” and “The main thing I always tried to be was, like, a good girl.” Even now, after “going political” (a.k.a. making one public statement against a Republican Congresswoman), it’s clear that what lacks most from Swift’s work, ergo her stage shows, is a message worth imparting. Of course, her fans and casual listeners alike will say that there can be no more important message than simply “making people feel good.” To a certain extent, that’s true. However, after a while, one wonders if Swift’s failure to say anything on the same level as a Madonna stage show is an exemplification of how the public no longer really wants to be challenged. “Preached to,” as it were. This, in some respects, is emblematic of the “algorithm effect” that has taken hold of society, with everyone seeing only what they want to see, and no “unpleasant” (read: contrary) viewpoints thrown into the mix. Including the one that would dare call out Swift for being anything other than perfection. 

    In this regard, too, she differs from Spears, who was far more derided for being a talented blonde girl, but with “nothing to say.” This being most clearly immortalized in an 00s interview during which she said of George W. Bush, “We should just trust our president in every decision that he makes and we should just support that, you know. And, um, be faithful in what happens.” Alas, Spears’ faith in a few patriarchal institutions has been shaken to its core in the decades since and, similar to Swift, she’s had a reckoning with the “good girl” she once thought she wanted to be in order to receive endless accolades and praise. For someone like Madonna, who provided the blueprint of the modern theatrical stage show with 1990’s Blond Ambition Tour, that was never a reckoning that needed to occur. She was always a “bad girl” from the start. In other words, a woman who spoke her mind without fear or inhibition. This is why one of her earliest stage shows, the Who’s That Girl Tour, addressed political topics ranging from AIDS to essentially directing the missive of “Papa Don’t Preach” at Ronald Reagan and the pope. No other woman, least of all in the hyper-conservative 1980s, would have ever dared to do that, and certainly not at the very beginning of her career. 

    And yes, it is Madonna, who was once marveled at for staying in the business for a paltry fifteen years, that has allowed for someone like Swift to exist in it for almost two decades without anyone questioning it. Because, as Madonna established, the idea of a pop star, particularly a woman, having many eras is merely a reflection of an inherently misogynistic public that expects to see something new in order to be kept interested in the same woman. Especially when there are more youthful options cropping up all the time. As Swift noted, “The female artists have reinvented themselves twenty times more than the male artists. They have to or else you’re out of a job. Constantly having to reinvent, constantly finding new facets of yourself that people find to be shiny.” This speaks to something Madonna said about the Who’s That Girl Tour: “That’s why I call the tour Who’s That Girl?; because I play a lot of characters, and every time I do a video or a song, people go, ‘Oh, that’s what she’s like.’ And I’m not like any of them. I’m all of them. I’m none of them.” In actuality, the real reason to highlight that title was the fact that she had a movie of the same name playing in theaters (briefly) the summer the tour was happening. A movie that was originally going to be called Slammer before then-husband Sean Penn ended up being thrown in the slammer himself and it seemed like it would be in poor taste. 

    Swift’s luck with movie roles hasn’t been much better than Madonna’s, but people seem to talk about the clunkers that are Valentine’s Day and Cats far less than, say, Body of Evidence or Swept Away. Both Swift and Madonna are, of late, focusing on what they do best, with the latter kicking off her own world tour the same weekend the Eras Tour film debuted in theaters. Perhaps an unwitting “flex” on Madonna’s part, as she still seems keenly aware that, of all the pop stars, she’s the only one willing to make a truly political statement during her shows. What’s more, no matter how “old” she’s gotten, she has always been an active participant in the choreography expected of a pop star/musical extravaganza. And so, while the Eras Tour film is deft in creating the kind of spectacle that allows the viewer to feel like they’re actually at the show (complete with annoying audience members singing along in the theater), perhaps what stands out more in the movie than it would in person is the lack of choreography that Swift herself engages in. Instead, she’s a master at the art of the illusion of movement as she struts frequently up and down the ample stage. Here, too, Swift can be differentiated from a “real” pop star in that she has always merely dipped her toe into what that means as someone who more strongly identifies with the singer-songwriter qualities that theoretically mean chilling at home and writing poignant lyrics without having to worry about executing a dance move correctly onstage. But this is where Swift makes it clear that, in the twenty-first century, a musician has no choice but to become the multimedia art project that Madonna always was from the get-go. A walking, talking embodiment of synergy. Even if an embodiment that has never truly “ate” (despite Swift’s recent comparisons to the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson…stage presence-wise, among other ways). 

    The uninformed accusations that Madonna is jumping on the Taylor and Beyoncé bandwagon of doing marathon, theatrical shows is rather absurd considering this is what Madonna has been doing from the beginning, long before anyone else thought to put in the effort it requires. Particularly the effort it takes to endure the personal risk to one’s life and reputation by speaking out against the injustices of the world. This has not been received warmly by quite a few institutions, not least of which was the Vatican, who urged Italians to boycott Madonna’s Blond Ambition Tour for being blasphemous. In response, Madonna made a public statement in Rome during which she declared, “My show is not a conventional rock show, but a theatrical presentation of my music. And like theater, it asks questions, provokes thought and takes you on an emotional journey. Portraying good and bad, light and dark, joy and sorrow, redemption and salvation.” 

    As the Eras Tour film underscores, that’s not really what’s happening at a Taylor Swift show. And that’s fine, one supposes—it just serves as a reminder that what people go apeshit over often isn’t very thought-provoking. With Swift preferring to, instead, take a page from the name of an LCD Soundsystem documentary by just “shutting up and playing the hits.”

    Just the mere mention of Taylor Swift can send many fans into an excited frenzy, but the internet thinks the singer’s ex, Taylor Lautner, might have taken his enthusiasm just a bit too far.

    While stopping by a movie theater for the opening weekend of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” the actor, who dated the 12-time Grammy winner briefly back in 2009, hit a full-on backflip at a showing of the highly anticipated concert movie.

    Lautner’s wife, Tay Lautner, reportedly shared several videos of her husband showing off his acrobatic moves in front of their friends on her Instagram stories on Saturday.

    The clips kicked off a whole lot of hilarious memes from social media users on X, formerly known as Twitter.

    Showing off his agility appears to be the “Twilight” alum’s signature party trick considering he busted out the same move at one of the “Cruel Summer” crooner’s Kansas City tour stops back in July after Swift invited him on stage.

    But unlike his stunt at Swift’s screening, Lautner admitted his backflip at the concert was totally unplanned.

    “What happened is I walked through the door, I waved to the crowd and then I started walking,” the “Abduction” star explained to his wife on their podcast “The Squeeze.” “I probably took, like, four or five steps, and I looked down at where Taylor, Joey (King) and Presley (Cash) were standing, and this runway in her show takes up 70% of the football field.”

    “I think I panicked,” he added in the July 19 episode. “I think I was imagining me having to walk that far and just, I got nervous and for some odd reason my brain gets nervous and freaks out about having to walk, so …”

    His wife then interjected, saying, “So what’s the next best option to walking?” to which he replied, “Flipping.”

    The Lautner’s first went public with their relationship in 2018. The teen heartthrob later proposed to her in November 2021. They got married at Epoch Estate Wines, outside of Paso Robles, California, just a year later.

    Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce stepped out holding hands Saturday night in New York City, seemingly declaring they are a couple.

    The two were seen at Nobu before making a surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” Kelce appeared in a skit poking fun at the NFL’s obsession with Swift attending Chiefs games, and Swift introduced Ice Spice before her second performance.

    Even since Kelce publicly declared on his podcast, “New Heights,” that he wanted to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it, rumors have been swirling that the two are dating. Swift has shown up to three Chiefs games to seemingly cheer on the tight-end, and after the first game, they were seen leaving together in Kelce’s convertible.

    After Swift attended her first Chiefs game in late September, Kelce said on his podcast that it was “ballsy” of her to show up.

    “I just thought it was awesome how everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her ― the friends and family,” he said.

    Swifties have been gushing over Swift and Kelce confirming their romance.

    During Saturday night’s “SNL” skit mocking the NFL’s obsession with Swift and Kelce, the sketch show took jabs at Swift’s ex, Alwyn, and rumored ex, singer Matty Healy. At the end of the skit, Kelce made a cameo to encourage the broadcasters to get back to talking about football.

    “Saturday Night Live” returned Saturday for its 49th season after a six-month hiatus spurred by the writers’ strike to harrowing developments in the Israel-Hamas war, beginning with a cold open by comedian and former “SNL” cast member Pete Davidson.

    Davidson delivered sobering remarks on “the horrible images and stories from Israel and Gaza,” before the evening moved ahead with scheduled sketch programming and surprise cameo appearances by Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

    “This week, we saw the horrible images and stories from Israel and Gaza. And, I know what you’re thinking, who better to comment on it than Pete Davidson?” said the host, periodically earning laughter from the live studio audience. He addressed the war in a tone reminiscent of past “SNL” tributes to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the victims of 9/11.

    Davidson’s original hosting slot on the previous season finale of “SNL” got canceled earlier this year when the series entered reruns due to the strike by unionized members of the Writer’s Guild of America

    Davidson spoke about the death of his father, Scott Davison, a New York City firefighter who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

    “I saw so many terrible pictures this week of children suffering – Israeli children and Palestinian children – and it took me back to a really horrible, horrible place. No one in this world deserves to suffer, especially not kids,” he said. Davidson recalled how he found joy watching stand-up comedy while grieving the loss of his dad and concluded with a parting thought that segued into the rest of the show.

    “Sometimes comedy is really the only way forward from tragedy,” said Davidson. “My heart is with everyone whose lives have been destroyed this week. But tonight I’m going to do what I’ve always done in the face of tragedy and that’s try to be funny. Remember, I said try. And live from New York, it’s Saturday night.”

    A running thread throughout the night’s ensuing comedy sketches was Swift, who appeared briefly on the “SNL” stage, in an unannounced cameo. The pop star introduced the evening’s musical guest, Ice Spice, leading into the rapper’s second performance during the show and made the surprise appearance in time with the theatrical debut of her Eras Tour concert film

    But for the most part, Swift was a focal point of the “SNL” premiere because of her rumored relationship with Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end who was himself fodder for wisecracks as the cast took on Fox News’ coverage of the National Football League. While in character as a broadcaster, “SNL” veteran Kenan Thompson said during that segment, “When we get back we are going to speak with someone who actually wants to talk football,” to which Kelce — in his own surprise cameo moment — suddenly replied, “Yes, please!”

    Saturday Night Live returned for its 49th season premiere after a week when it felt like the world was in danger of sliding into ruin. Death tolls rising; social media a nauseating buffet of banal and horrific. The prospect of a cold open about the carnivalesque search for a new Speaker of the House or James Austin Johnson valiantly giving a go at Trump railing against windmills and his new best friend Fudgy the Whale made the heart sag.

    Instead, the night began with a close-up of Pete Davidson, a man in his 20s who lost his firefighter father on 9/11 when he was a child. He was not there to explain evil, or examine the context that breeds it, but simply hold space for its cost. Davidson then described how his mother, desperate to pull her son out of his hole of grief, confused Eddie Murphy’s Delirious album for a Disneyesque romp. She would’ve been horrified by the firehose of Murphy’s jokes if not for the relief of Davidson laughing like mad in the backseat of their car. Sometimes, comedy is the only salve. “So, I’m going to try to be funny,” said Davidson, in a closing reminiscent of Lorne Michaels asking Rudy Giuliani on September 29, 2001, for permission to be funny. “And remember, I said try.”

    It was Davidson’s best moment of the episode (which sounds like shade, and isn’t meant to diminish the loveliness of his entrance). I couldn’t decide if his formal opening monologue felt like a nervous comedian who grew up on Bill Burr and wasn’t yet in charge of his set, or that of a journeyman who’d been out on the road for too long. He riffed on the destabilizing experience of watching the incest scenes on Game of Thrones with his sister (“Am I about to bang this chick, what’s going on?”). He took us down memory lane when the high school football coach used to call him a pussy, and he took Staten Island girls for pizza after having sex in his car. It’s like he’s finding his material from the caricatured version of his tabloid self rather than a more compelling truth.

    At times while watching Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, it’s difficult to detect what separates  Taylor Swift’s concert film from her live show itself. Each beckon sequined Swifties to point their phones forward as they sing along to every word of the roughly 40-song setlist. And both have become blockbusters—the sold-out Eras tour nearly broke Ticketmaster, while its companion movie pre-sold more than $100 million in tickets a week before its premiere, already passing Justin Bieber: Never Say Never as the highest-grossing concert film debut.

    But while some fans had hoped that Swift would change nothing in the transfer from stadium to screen, a few necessary changes have been made to shave the 3-hour-and-15-minute concert into a still-supersized 2 hours and 45 minutes. So, where are the blank spaces, exactly?

    Naturally, the costume changes have been condensed, as have intros such as the extended piano lead-in to “Tolerate It.” Others have been retained in all their symbolic glory, like the snakes that slither Swift into her Reputation era.

    Five songs in total were cut from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: Swift’s 1989 hit “Wildest Dreams”; her performance of “No Body, No Crime” with opening act Haim; Lover’s “The Archer”; Folklore’s lead single “Cardigan,” and Speak Now’s “Long Live,” a track permanently added to the setlist during Swift’s first show in Kansas City this July, which coincided with the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

    I was in the audience that evening at Arrowhead Stadium, in which Swift unveiled the music video for Speak Now bonus track “I Can See You” and brought the video’s stars, Joey King and ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner, out on stage. Those Kansas City shows may also have been ground zero for her romance with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, but there’s no trace of their budding romance in the film or any behind-the-scenes Easter eggs.

    In fact, as filmed by director Sam Wrench, all three hours are devoted to Swift and her fans alone. No celebrity guests are shown, including the musical collaborators Swift has invited to perform with her onstage like Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessner, and Ice Spice. And neither are Swift’s performances with any of her opening acts, which included Gracie Abrams and Phoebe Bridgers, with whom she would often sing their duet “Nothing New.”

    The concert was filmed during Swift’s six-night stint at the SoFi stadium in Inglewood, a suburb of Los Angeles, back in August. There were a few song switches over the course of the Eras tour’s first leg. “Nothing New” replaced Evermore track “‘Tis the Damn Season” when Bridgers was opening for Swift, as she did for the SoFi shows, so that song is also missing. And Folklore’s fate-brought-us-together track “Invisible String” was switched out for the rueful what-could-have-been ballad “The 1” after Swift’s split from longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn was publicized, meaning the former track has also been scrapped from the movie.

    Each night on the Eras tour, Swift would select a pair of surprise songs to play for that crowd acoustically—one on the guitar and the other on the piano. While filming the concert movie, Swift performed six different surprise songs, such as “I Can See You,” “Maroon,” “You Are in Love,” and “Death by a Thousand Cuts.” But it’s “Our Song” from her debut 2006 album that’s played on the guitar in the movie, and “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” from her most recent album Midnights that gets the film’s piano slot. The latter song is also the one whose lyrics inspired Swifties (and Kelce) to make friendship bracelets for the tour. 

    Rest assured: those looking to trade bracelets at their screenings are still likely to find a beaded accessory or two. And the fan anthem “Long Live” also plays over the end credits, in all its glory.

    The friendship bracelets were just the beginning. For months, Taylor Swift fans have been churning out bejeweled ensembles left and right on the Eras Tour. Now, the singer’s concert film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” which premiered on Oct. 13, is giving fans the opportunity to turn a trip to the movies into a red carpet event.

    The Eras Tour concert movie is the perfect excuse for Swifties to pay homage to their favorite Swift albums, songs, and eras of the singer-songwriter’s fashion evolution. For “Folklore” fans, crimson and amber cardigans paired with black miniskirts and tights only feel fitting, especially given the fall aesthetic that celebrities, including Swift, have been wearing all season long; for “Midnights” fans, there’s no such thing as too much sparkle; and for devoted “Reputation”-lovers, black leather with silver accents is the way to go.

    While the movie has inspired some fans to piece together elaborate outfits inspired by Swift’s tour outfits, others are taking a more comfortable approach. Taking a page from Swift in her “You Belong With Me” video, several fans are showing up in gingham pajama pants and homemade white T-shirts that read “Junior Jewels” in marker. Of course, each shirt is unique, and like the beaded friendship bracelets that have become a staple at Swift’s concerts, they give Swifties another opportunity to show off their creative side.

    For the film’s world premiere, fans wasted no time showing their sartorial love for the singer. “I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS REAL LIFEEEEE,” one person captioned a video of what they planned to wear on the “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” red carpet in Los Angeles on Oct. 11. On social media, fans who weren’t able to attend the exclusive event also posted pictures of the outfits they would have worn to the premiere. For her part, Swift arrived in a cutout floral gown by Oscar de la Renta.

    Whether your look is a tribute to Swift’s early days as a country singer, her most recent pop hits, or a mashup of her entire discography, there’s no shortage of outfit options. After all, at the end of the day, whatever your wear is going to shimmer alongside the Eras Tour popcorn buckets.

    Swift was seen rooting for Kansas City from a suite at Arrowhead Stadium with Kelce’s mother Donna Kelce and Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. In Los Angeles the night before, Swift attended the premiere of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” bringing her wildly successful concert tour to movie theater audiences nationwide this weekend.

    Thursday night’s matchup between the Chiefs and the visiting Denver Broncos was Swift’s second time at Arrowhead for an NFL game this season after she was in attendance for Kansas City’s win over the Chicago Bears last month at Kelce’s invitation.     The 11-year NFL veteran invited the superstar to Arrowhead after he couldn’t give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number when she performed at the stadium over the summer. The two were seen after the Bears game, and Swift went to New Jersey to watch the Chiefs defeat the New York Jets the following week, fueling speculation that the two stars are dating.

    Last week, Kelce said he felt “even more on top of the world” than after winning the Super Bowl. On Thursday night, he said he was embracing the “chaos” from all the attention.

Honestly, no one in my inner circle should be lost for new music because that means they’re not reading my articles and, subsequently, that would mean I need new friends.

    While your choice of streaming service may have curated playlists based on your music taste, and a plethora of other options to find music…it can be daunting, and time consuming, to go through everything and find the songs you truly want to add to your playlist. That’s where I come in.

    Each week is a different selection of songs, and I guarantee you you’ll come out of these articles with at least one new banger to play for your friends. A wide range of genres, artists, and sounds, the Weekend Playlist is meant to get you through these arduous weeks. The good news? There’s always another to look forward to.

    Rosie Darling- “I’m Different Now” 

    With elements of Phoebe Bridgers, Rosie Darling has a soft, introspective voice that haunts and seeps into your soul. “I’m Different Now” exhibits her beautiful, delicate vocals and talks about the part of life where you are moving on from someone who no longer serves you. It’s looking back at a relationship that maybe wasn’t all you thought it was.

    “I’m Different Now” is about getting to the other side of a difficult relationship. What’s awesome is that even though healing is messy and scary, it paves the way for a more mature, more refined self to take the space of what once was. It is learning to sit with who you’re becoming despite knowing that your old self still lingers, almost like a ghost following you around.”

    Joe P- “Glass House” 

    Joe P has been teasing “Glass House” for a while now across social media platforms. Frequently called “Dinosaur Bones” by fans before the single was announced, “Glass House” was highly demanded…and Joe is finally answering their call. With “Glass House”, you get the classic electric guitar, alternative sound that he has spent time refining and perfecting. It’s about losing someone and finding pieces of them wherever you go, and it does not disappoint.

    To me, this song is about the physical proof we leave behind in the wake of relationships,” says Joe P. “A lot of my friends talk about how they unfollow someone on socials because they don’t want to see them anymore. We have these little moments when we’re reminded of something/someone and that nostalgia can trick us into believing feelings still exist where they don’t.

    Chelsea Cutler- Stellaria 

    Chelsea Cutler is our featured artist of the week with her third studio album: Stellaria. A reflection of life post-pandemic, Cutler tackles grappling with mental health and self-image, healing and love. She brings an honest approach to songwriting as she continues to grow as an artist, producer, and songwriter.

    “I had just turned 23 and COVID started. I was about to turn 26 by the time things felt more normal. It was like I fell asleep at 23 and woke up at 25, and the whole world was different. I spent a lot of time wondering, ‘Am I going to feel like myself again or a new iteration of myself?’ I tried to write a song to get reacquainted with myself and love this new person post-pandemic.”

    Lewis OfMan- “Frisco Blues” 

    If a song could be the end of the summer, it would be “Frisco Blues.” With a melancholic background track, you’ll find yourself reminiscing on old times, lost love, and the end of the season. Sampling “Frisco Disco,” all Lewis OfMan needed was an acoustic guitar to complete the track…and it’s perfect.

    “The song was inspired by a bus ride from Florence to Marseille in one day back in December 2021. We were driving across the south of France, the vibe in the bus was nice, students, kids playing cards, I was listening to an obscure Jim Morrison interview, watching the cold sunset on the hills, good spirit. A few days later I was in the countryside only with an acoustic guitar and an Ensoniq Sampler with this sample of a song called ‘Frisco Disco’ I’d found at A1 record in NYC.”

    Em Beihold- “Pedestal”

    One of both my favorite songs and artists on this list, Em Beihold delivers a cheeky breakup track centered around a ukulele sound. Her vocal range is unmatched, and her biting lyrics are contrasted by the light, acoustic-heavy track about moving on after putting someone on a pedestal for so long.

    “I’m so excited to be announcing my first ever headline tour and to also be dropping “Pedestal”this week,” says Em. “I’ve been touring “Pedestal” for a couple years now and it’s the last songof that era of music for me, so it feels full circle to announce a new beginning at the same timeas closing an old chapter. So much fun, truly 2024 couldn’t come any faster!”

    Blu DeTiger- “Cut Me Down”


    A fun upbeat collaboration between Blu DeTiger and Mallrat, “Cut Me Down” shows the difficult side of relationships. With lyrics like “every time you cut me down, I just laugh it off” and “I wonder who you think you are”, Blu DeTiger and Mallrat sing about being degraded and put down by someone who doesn’t value them. The synth-y, club beat in the background make this song suitable for nights out or long runs as well.

    I feel like this song is a nice evolution for me and a side of me that people haven’t heard, but the soul-full chords and movement of the bassline anchor it in the Blu DeTiger sound. This is one of the most melodic and moving bass parts I’ve written, and it follows and supports the vocals in a really cool way.”

    Until The Ribbon Breaks- “Nature Mother” 

    Until The Ribbon Breaks has a soulful voice that punches into this track, an overview of our roles in society and in nature. It’s contemplative, pensive, and daunting all at the same time, combining complex metaphors with a soulful Hozier-esque tone. “Nature Mother” with Emoni Wilkins belting at the end is a masterpiece.

    If there was a single lyric that encompassed the whole feeling that I have – and where I’ve been emotionally and why I even made this record – it’s that chorus. It specifically talks about our role in nature and our role to each other: ‘Wild is the wind. Rage is the sea. If it’s in me, it’s in me, it’s our nature mother.’

    Erin Andrews may have powers the likes of which we’ve never seen before. The sports journalist has been rooting for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for months, posting a video on Instagram in August urging “my imaginary best friend Taylor Swift” to “go on a date with our real friend” Kelce. Now, not only has that reportedly happened, but Swift did so while wearing a jacket that Andrews designed. 

    Swift returned to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City Thursday evening to watch her rumored boyfriend take on the Denver Broncos, marking the third time she’s cheered on the Chiefs. She again sat next to Travis’s mom, Donna Kelce, in a nice suite, and again lost her mind when Kelce did good football things, hugging it out with Brittany Mahomes, wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

    She wore a red Kansas City Chiefs windbreaker over a black dress, inching ever closer to wearing your boyfriend’s letterman jacket as you look on from the stands, but it wasn’t just any jacket but part of a throwback-inspired collection designed by Andrews. (Anyone planning on going as October 12 Taylor for Halloween, apologies, it’s already sold out.)

    “I’M CRYING HAPPY TEARS,” Andrews wrote on an Instagram Story over a video of Swift wearing the jacket as she entered the stadium.

    After Swift’s first appearance at a game, Andrews told Variety that she’d sent Swift some of the products from her WEAR line.

    “I hope to God she puts something on that we have that we’ve sent,” she said. “Her fans, they’re so powerful. They just want to get close to whatever she’s associated with. I find it fascinating.”

    She also praised Swift for drawing fans, including the sought-after female audience, to watch football: “She put a spotlight on the sport. Let’s embrace it.”

    Prayers: Answered.

    It’s not just jackets that Andrews is manifesting. As co-host of the Calm Down podcast, Andrews has made no secret of her Swiftie status. She posted a video of herself after Swift’s first Chiefs game wearing a shirt printed with a photo of Swift in Kelce’s suite and described melting down when she spotted her, and asked Patrick Mahomes in a post-game interview about the impact that Swift’s presence may have had at that first game.

    But back in August, Andrews posted a video addressed to her “imaginary best friend Taylor Swift,” urging her to “please try our friend Travis. He is fantastic.”

    Kelce, of course, made no secret in the past that he had shot his shot with Swift, attempting to give her his number in the form of a friendship bracelet when he attended the singer’s Eras Tour stop in Kansas City, to no success.

    Swift, of course, has a lot going on at the moment, beyond her newfound football superfan status. Her Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film is in the midst of its opening weekend, she touched Beyoncé‘s arm recently, and she’s been hanging out with Sophie Turner in the midst of the actor’s divorce from Joe Jonas.

    The Chiefs won Thursday, by the way. The other team was from Denver.

    Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film hits theaters this weekend, and the movie had its world premiere in Los Angeles last night. Any fans who didn’t get a chance to see Swift on this tour (which is completely understandable given the insane ticket prices) can check out the concert doc this weekend, at any AMC theater across the U.S., and in over 100 different countries.

    So far, the early reviews for the movie out of the premiere are uniformly positive. As of this moment, The Eras Tour holds a 100 percent on the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes. Here’s a sampling of the reviews so far:

    One day not long ago, AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron flew to Los Angeles for a covert meeting with Rick Caruso, the billionaire real estate developer who operates open-air shopping center The Grove. He was looking for a venue large and secure enough to stage the world premiere of Taylor Swift’s concert film. “Of course we immediately said yes,” Caruso tells Vanity Fair. Even if that meant agreeing to shut down the entire mall for the first time in its 21-year history. “We’ve never done this,” Caruso says. “I’m not sure it would ever happen again, to be honest.”

    The top secret project involved meeting with the LA police and fire departments and local politicians and informing The Grove’s more than 50 tenants about the planned closure. (Don’t worry, they’re reimbursing those small businesses and independent merchants for the lost sales.) Eventually, word leaked—there were road closures and helicopters flying overhead, after all—but it’s not really in keeping with Swift to be all that subtle anyway. “Over the last few weeks, the teams have all worked together really hard to make sure that we have a really engaged, fun experience for all the guests and the fans,” Caruso says, adding that they wanted to “just create a great experience.”

    On Wednesday, The Grove closed to the public, and Caruso rolled out a Lover pink carpet for Swift, who had invited some 2,200 of her most devoted fans—and a few bold names, among them Julia Garner, Simu Liu, and Adam Sandler—to be among the first to screen Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Before the show, they milled around the mall, exchanging friendship bracelets and watching a Taylor Swift-themed water show at The Grove’s iconic fountain. Then Miss Americana herself arrived. Dressed in a blue Oscar de la Renta floral cutout gown, her signature waves pulled up into a chic bob, she walked up and down the carpet chatting with fans and posing for photos. There were screams, yes, but also a stillness as they each stepped aside to give their fellow Swifties a moment to meet their idol.

    Finally, into the AMC multiplex they went, grabbing full-sized boxes of movie theater candy, popcorn—in a collectible Eras Tour bucket, naturally—and nachos before they were shuffled into 13 different theaters to watch the sumptuous two hour, 48 minute film. But first: Swift made an appearance in every theater. “I hope when you watch it, you’ll feel this, but you are such a main character in it,” she told the Swifties. “Because your spirit and your magic and your attention to detail and your passion and the ways that you showed up to this show is why it was the adventure of a lifetime for me.” 

    Swift walked into the evening already a movie star—and no, not because of her role as Bombalurina in 2019’s Cats. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour pre-sold more than $100 million in tickets a week before its premiere. Some film analysts are predicting that it could cross the $150 million mark during its opening weekend. The movie has already passed Justin Bieber: Never Say Never as the highest-grossing concert film debut—and it isn’t even out yet. Not one to do things the standard way, Swift struck a deal directly with AMC Entertainment to release The Eras Tour. Entertainment newsletter Puck reports that she’ll keep more than 50% of the revenue from ticket sales.

    She’ll soon compete with another pop icon in theaters: Beyoncé has announced that a film about her recently concluded global tour will bow on December 1. But a photo of the pair posing together before The Eras Tour premiere should help squash talk that this fight is anything but friendly. Swift later posted a video to her Instagram showing Queen Bey playfully throwing popcorn and wrote, “She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale.” 

    A surprise-ish premiere wasn’t the only trick Swift had up her sleeve this week. Minutes before arriving at The Grove, she announced via social media that the movie would actually come to theaters one day early, on October 12. “Look what you genuinely made me do,” she cheekily captioned her Instagram post, nodding to a song off her Reputation album.

    AMCs around the country are preparing for a crush of activity in the coming days and weeks, a chance to revive the energy of a Barbenheimer summer with a similarly pink, glitter-loving crowd. The AMC at The Grove is devoting multiple theaters for round-the-clock weekend showings.

    And The Grove itself plans to continue to have a little fun with its role in Swift’s blockbuster fall. The Taylor Swift fountain show will continue in the evenings, and they’ve teamed with Little Words Project to open up a friendship bracelet store. One of the mall’s bars will even be slinging Taylor Swift-inspired drinks. “Let’s all enjoy her great music and the camaraderie that she brings,” Caruso says. “Her fans are happy, fun fans. We love having them here.”

    On Wednesday night it was the era of two queens when Beyoncé attended the premiere for Swift’s “Eras Tour” concert film in Los Angeles.

    Naturally, the internet went bananas.

    Both women have reigned supreme this year with powerhouse concert tours that they are capitalizing on by bringing them to the big screen.

    First up is Swift’s, which “due to unprecedented demand” opened with early access shows on Thursday and will have additional showings over the weekend.

    Queen Bey, who recently wrapped her “Renaissance Tour” in Kansas City, has announced that her “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” will hit theaters on December 1.

    The women have been longtime admirers of each other and, early Thursday, Swift posted a video of the two of them together in a theater with Beyoncé tossing popcorn.

    Swift wrote in the caption, “I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without @beyonce’s influence.”

    “The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms,” Swift wrote. “Her generosity of spirit. Her resilience and versatility. She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale.”

    Given how often the world pits female superstars against each other, the mutual support of two of music’s biggest stars was a powerful statement.

    As if celebrity breakups aren’t chaotic enough, Sophie Turner has made a pointed statement with the most unexpected fashion accessory amid her impending divorce from Joe Jonas. On Oct. 8, in a now-expired Instagram Story, the “Game of Thrones” actress showed the world her strong allegiance to superstar best friend Taylor Swift with a picture of a friendship bracelet that read “Fearless.” In this case, the word is far from a mere adjective, but also the name of Swift’s 2008 album and the cult-favorite song that discusses the ideal “best first date,” which is the total opposite of Turner’s situation and perhaps a presumptuous tactic to add fuel to an already-blazing fire.

    It’s quite the statement to turn the idea of a friendship bracelet on its head.

    Friendship bracelets, no longer a thing of the past, have made a comeback, thanks to Swift, with a slight departure from their intended meaning. Initially used as a symbol to honor the time, energy, and love put into a beautiful relationship, Swifties have rocked the nostalgic piece to chronicle moments at Swift’s successful Eras tour, and fans of Beyoncé and the Jonas Brothers have followed suit. Meanwhile, Turner used the accessory to quietly shade her soon-to-be ex, not just on this occasion, but even at a Jonas Brothers concert in August, where she sported a bracelet that read “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” another one of Swift’s signature breakup anthems allegedly about Jonas.

    It seems that since the divorce, the “Speak Now” artist and the actress have grown increasingly close, with their friendship having started in 2019, ironically around the time that Jonas and Turner got married. And since news broke of the couple’s split in September, the actor has reportedly been living in Swift’s New York City apartment with her two daughters, according to ET. Swift and Turner have also embarked on many dinner dates in casual ensembles, including Turner’s Jake Shane TikTok sweatshirt and Swift’s Reformation knit dress and boots combination.

    While Swift and Turner appear to stay positive when photographed, considering the circumstances, it’s quite the statement to turn the idea of a friendship bracelet on its head, as Turner so candidly did with her post — don’t you think?

    In further proof that Taylor Swift is the patron saint of mid-divorce pals, Sophie Turner’s first Instagram activity since her joint statement announcing her impending divorce from Joe Jonas could not be more heavily Taylor-coded.

    In a now-vanished Instagram story, Turner posted a photo of her wrist with a beaded friendship bracelet reading “Fearless.” It’s the name of a Swift album, obviously, but a strong message from a woman in the midst of a contentious divorce and custody battle over the couple’s two young daughters.

    Turner has stayed silent on socials since the news broke, while Jonas has posted several shots of himself and his brothers on their current world tour on his Instagram. Turner is far from being in hiding, though: She has been spotted out several times with Swift, including dinners with the singer solo and with the Haim sisters, as well as in Swift’s jam-packed suite at the Kansas City Chiefs-New York Jets game a week ago. 

    Of course, this isn’t the first time Turner has sported a Swifty-style friendship bracelet with an “omg does she mean….” message: Before news of her split with Jonas, she was spotted wearing a beaded bracelet reading “Mr. Perfectly Fine” at a Jonas Brothers concert in New York City—the title, of course, of Swift’s breakup anthem, allegedly about their now-mutual ex, Joe. (Also, since Swifties love an Easter Egg, a vault track off Fearless (Taylor’s Version), to tie it all up nicely with an elastic-stringed bow.)

    Jonas and Turner were married for four years and have two young daughters. According to a lawsuit filed by Turner over custody of the children, the split was sudden, with the relationship hitting a breaking point after an argument on Jonas’ birthday, and Turner found out that Jonas had filed for divorce “through the media.” Turner, 27, is suing Jonas in an attempt to move the children to England with her permanently, as she claimed the couple had decided before divorce proceedings began.

    Taylor Swift may have written that “It’s Nice to Have a Friend,” but her new pal Shawn Levy is feeling kind of weird about having her as a friend, it would seem. 

    Levy, director of the upcoming Deadpool 3, as well as the Night at the Museum movies and Stranger Things, was among the glittering masses who took in the Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Jets game on October 1 alongside Swift in a much-photographed luxury suite. Rumored Swift beau Travis Kelce is catching balls and maybe feelings too, but Levy is mostly around to say how weird it is.

    In an interview Friday with Variety, Levy dished on his gameday experience in the packed suite with stars like Swift, Hugh Jackman, and Sophie Turner. As it turns out, it was maybe not all fun and games for Levy at the sportsball show.

    “[It was a] very fun night but … I’ve known famous people, but Taylor is definitely a culture magnet unlike anything I’ve seen,” he said, revealing that Ryan Reynolds, whom he directed in both Deadpool and Free Guy, and his wife Blake Lively are close friends and the link that secured his invite to the suite. “Nothing prepared us for the frenzy of attention that was that outing.”

    He was also aware that it wasn’t just about watching the game—he said the whole crew knew they were being watched just as much as the action on the field.

    “If you’re going to a football game in a box with Taylor, you pretty much have to assume that you are on camera all the time and they’re capable of slow motion, so they can definitely read lips,” he said. The attention he’s gotten for attending, Levy shared, is “almost depressing.”

    “I could make 50 more hit movies and shows and I’ll still be known as the guy in the orange suede jacket going to the Chiefs-Jets game with Taylor and others,” he said.

    Taylor Swift’s concert film hasn’t even been released yet and it’s already toppling box-office records.

    Cinemark, a theater chain with about 500 locations, said that ticket sales for “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” are “setting domestic presale records” with demand “10 times higher” than any other event film the company has exhibited. The reaction has “blown everyone away,” Cinemark announced in a press release.

    Excitement has been building for the 3-hour-long film, which is opening Friday, October 13. An ad for the movie even aired during NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” last weekend, where Swift made an appearance to cheer on her possible boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

    Cinemark is not the first theater chain to experience an increase in sales via Swift: AMC Theaters previously announced that the singer’s Eras Tour concert movie “shattered records for single-day advance ticket sales revenue,” with $26 million sold on the first day that presales went live on August 31.

    Swift’s movie crushed the single-day record less than three hours after tickets became available, prompting AMC to add extra showtimes where possible.

    The concert film, which is being screened in some theaters in both IMAX and standard versions, is expected to rake in between $100 million to $125 million in its opening weekend, according to industry estimates.

    Superstar Beyoncé is also releasing a film version of her “Renaissance World Tour” for a theatrical release. Ticket presales began Monday for the December 1 premiere.

    For theaters eying a potentially grim fall with the ranks of movies thinned out by the (recently resolved) writers strike and the actors strike, the one-two punch looks like a gift from the musical gods. It’s a potential means of filling seats that doesn’t rely on what has come to look like an increasingly shaky theatrical business even with usually reliable studio blockbusters.

    In addition to Swift and Beyoncé, the box office also has been helped out by another fierce female: “Barbie.” The film hit the $1 billion global box office mark barely three weeks into its run — only about 50 films in history, adjusted for inflation, have reached the benchmark.
