J.Crew’s Hits Just Keep Coming—These Items Are the Getting the Most Buzz

    [ad_1]

If you’re not already following J.Crew creative director and head designer Olympia Gayot on Instagram, I highly recommend it. Not only is the ’90s-vibe catalogue content a treat, but her occasional office mirror selfies act give you a heads up as to which chic new J.Crew pieces you’ll want to jump on.

Obviously J.Crew is still busy giving us their classics: Easy denim, great-value cashmere knits, and loads of other quality basics to wear on repeat. But now we’re also seeing some buzzy collaborations and regular high-trend moments, such as this fall and winter’s slew of red and metallic pieces, the polished layer affectionately know as the “lady jacket”, and more Mary Janes than we know what to do with. Here are the chic pieces of the moment that you won’t want to miss.

  • I Love Simple Yet Elevated Style—5 Basics That Make Any Outfit Look Expensive

I Love Simple Yet Elevated Style—5 Basics That Make Any Outfit Look Expensive

    [ad_1]

For as long as I can remember, simple yet elevated has been my go-to aesthetic. Think classic ’90s minimalism meets French chic. One of the mainstays that I have discovered I lean on the most in cultivating this look has always been a rotating set of elevated basics that speaks to the current season and, at times, the current trends of the moment.

This winter, there are some key pieces I have my eye on with all this in mind. To start with, it’s sweater season, and effortless sweaters that happen to be right up my alley are abundant. Another key basic, with consideration to what is trending, is a chic boat-neck top. For more of my top picks, scroll on to check out all five basics I am reaching for this season—these pieces are all guaranteed to make any outfit look expensive. Plus, you’ll wear them forever.

  • I Only Buy Cashmere From Nordstrom, Shopbop, and J.Crew—These Sweaters Are Why

I Only Buy Cashmere From Nordstrom, Shopbop, and J.Crew—These Sweaters Are Why

    [ad_1]

Running your hands over a cashmere sweater is one of life’s little luxuries. The fiber is sourced from pashmina or cashmere goats and is known for its softness. It can also be mixed with wool to provide extra warmth during the freezing winter months. Basically, any article of clothing is available in the material (pants, socks, scarves, you name it!), but a cashmere sweater is one of the classics you need. It makes layering so much easier in colder temperatures, and there are tons of options you can choose from between turtlenecks, cardigans, polos, and oversize silhouettes.

Though they are a little trickier to care for (you can’t just throw one in the wash and call it a day), the wear you’ll get out of them and the styling versatility they provide make cashmere sweaters well worth their sometimes-hefty price tags. When I’m looking to stock up, I gravitate toward Nordstrom, Shopbop, and J.Crew. Once you scroll through the below list, you’ll understand why. Ahead, I rounded up 33 of the best cashmere sweaters to shop at each retailer so you can feel absolutely luxurious while going about your day this winter.

I've Been Keeping Track of My Most-Worn Items—Here's What I Can't Do Without

    [ad_1]

My foolproof winter outfit really is my happy place. It consists of seven items (including accessories and outerwear), each of which increasingly exist in multiple versions in my wardrobe. I have dressier versions and more casual versions, and they all mix and match flawlessly.

I’ve worn some version of my winter uniform probably four days out of seven for the past two winters. It’s effortlessly elevated (nothing fussy to fuss with), perfect for schlepping around the city, and always comfortable—which is basically the holy trinity of outfit qualities. Here are my hero winter fashion items in no particular order—including links to some of the exact pieces I own—and others I currently have my eye on.

  • J.Crew's Most Viral Sweater of the Season Is Finally Back in Stock

J.Crew's Most Viral Sweater of the Season Is Finally Back in Stock

    [ad_1]

As soon as J.Crew’s Creative Director Olympia Gayot posted about an extra-special new cashmere sweater on her Instagram Story earlier this fall and an entire J.Crew campaign featuring members of the New York City Ballet wearing said sweater, it’s a given that a swift sellout soon followed. The sweater in question is J.Crew’s Brushed Cashmere Sweater.

J.Crew’s design team spent a year developing the special fabric, which is made of long cashmere fibers that are specially washed to give them a light and fluffy finish. The result is the softest, fluffiest cashmere sweater you’ve ever seen. It was originally released in oversize V-neck and polo versions (which there are currently a few sizes left in). People went crazy for the V-neck sweater and it flew out of stock in every color. But lo and behold, I just noticed that J.Crew has restocked it in a crewneck version, in three perfect colors (oh, and there’s a hat too). I’m sure that as soon as shoppers catch wind of this it too will sell out but in the meantime, keep scrolling to add your favorite to your cart.

Fashion People on a Budget Will Have a Field Day With These 31 Under-$100 Finds

  • I Have a Large Friend Group, and We're All Into These Finds From Amazon and H&M

I Have a Large Friend Group, and We're All Into These Finds From Amazon and H&M

    [ad_1]

One of the best parts about working in fashion is seeing how many different ways a particular piece of clothing can be worn. Sure, it’s easy enough to incorporate elevated basics like jeans, t-shirts, and blazers into both the most minimalist and maximalist wardrobes. But, you know you’ve found something special when it’s nearly universally appealing without being, well, an essential.

Of course, as with any new garment, you’ll want to consider the cost-per-wear before splurging on a piece that may only be suitable for a season or two. This is why it’s always a treat when something affordable from H&M or Amazon catches our attention.

With that in mind, I asked a bunch of my friends with distinctly different personal styles (think: nothing but neutrals to tons of neon, or gender-neutral to super femme), to pick out a few pieces they would be interested in adding to their winter wardrobes this year. Ranging from holiday party pieces to leisurely lounge sets, embellished outerwear, and cozy cardigans, there truly is something for everyone on this list of fabulous finds.

Keep scrolling to shop my friend group’s affordable finds from Amazon and H&M, and see how these pieces fit into your closet this season.

  • Kendall and Hailey Wore the Classic Sweater Trend Everyone's Buying From J.Crew

Kendall and Hailey Wore the Classic Sweater Trend Everyone's Buying From J.Crew

    [ad_1]

Now that we’re deep into December and have been wearing knitwear for at least a month now, it’s become clear what the emerging sweater trends are. Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber certainly agree on one in particular. That trend is Fair Isle sweaters. Jenner wore the classic après-ski style earlier this week in Aspen, and Bieber wore it upon her return to Los Angeles. Both of them wore Fair Isle sweaters by Khaite, who can largely be credited (along with Celine) for the returning popularity of the style this season.

Multicolored Fair Isle knitwear actually dates back to the early 19th century on an island near Scotland, when it was made for fisherman’s sweaters. Today, brands from low to high-end embrace the design each winter, but it’s become especially ubiquitous this season. One place I’ve come across multiple excellent examples of the trend is J.Crew, where its Fair Isle sweaters keep selling out. (Trust me—I’m on J.Crew.com a lot.) Scroll on to shop those along with Jenner’s and Bieber’s Khaite crew-neck and cardigan.

  • Fashion People Think This Sweater Style Is Elite

Fashion People Think This Sweater Style Is Elite

    [ad_1]

Sweater weather is something I spend half of the year looking forward to and the other half embracing. But what about the humble cardigan? I have a theory: Winter comes and goes, but cardigans don’t have a particular season. Excluding the sartorial necessities of extremely hot or cold days, a cardigan is a versatile piece you should always have on hand. I always have one draped over my office chair and never forget to stow one in my carry-on with a water bottle and a good book—they have that much staying power, regardless of color, material, or style.

One of my favorite types is the collared cardigan, a versatile and timeless iteration that comes in a number of styles, from zip-up and button-down to fitted and loose. Some of my most coveted collared cardigans have pointed collars, while others have dainty Peter Pan collars. Suffice to say: The options are endless. To help you narrow down your options, I curated a list of my favorites.

5 Winter Basics to Own If You Refuse to Follow Trends

    [ad_1]

If, like me, you’ve been reading Who What Wear religiously for the past decade, then you know that nothing is boring about great basics. Just a bit shy of “uniform dressing,” without committing completely to a capsule wardrobe, a closet full of just a few winter basics is all that’s needed to get through the season in style.

That’s not to say you need to wear them all at once—in fact, we suggest mixing at matching these key winter basics with whatever you already have on hand. That’s the point, right? Great basics go with everything and can be worn regularly without compromising your personal style

This season, we recommend shopping for (and perhaps investing in) these five simple wardrobe staples: a camel-colored coat, classic black blazer, chunky white knit sweater, straight-leg jeans, and Chelsea boots. That’s it! And, if you already have a few of these items at your disposal, great — do some quick “girl math” and use that savings to invest in a top-quality piece that you’ll be happy about wearing for years to come. Ready? Let’s shop.
