This Striped Summer Sweater Has Been Mistaken For a $138 J.Crew Design—But It’s Actually $30 On Amazon

Every so often, I’ll come across an Amazon fashion find so good, I can’t help but get a little braggy about it. I’ll happily share links to lounge sets that look just like something I saw at Free People or tell my friends about a pearl bag
I added to my rotation years ago, which is still my go-to whenever I attend weddings.

So when someone complimented my striped summer sweater recently, asking if it was “that one from J.Crew,” I couldn’t help but give them the real deal: it was something I found when browsing cardigans on Amazon, and at just $30, I simply had to have it.

Personally, I’m someone who feels cold all 12 months of the year. Even if it’s 85 degrees and sunny, I’m sticking a sweater in my bag, just in case. I rarely regret carrying around that extra layer. So many stores and restaurants start blasting the air conditioning around Memorial Day, and even if I’m overheated while walking outside, I’m freezing five minutes after coming indoors.

So, while the concept of summer cardigans may seem strange to some, they make a lot of sense to me. RICHTRUE’s Old Money Aesthetic Striped Cardigan
also gives off nautical, retro vibes, and I knew it would be perfect for breezy beachside hangs, summer date nights, days at the always-cold office, and more.

What I didn’t fully realize — until a very in-the-know influencer pointed it out — is that I had come across an Amazon lookalike for J.Crew’s Emilie Sweater Lady Jacket, which originally retailed for $138 but is now discounted at $110. The stripes, the buttons, and the crewneck design all appear to be super similar, but instead of being made of 100% cotton, my summer sweater is 100% polyester.

I recently put this piece to the test by layering it over a white sundress. Despite its reasonable price tag, it kept me warm once the temperature (unexpectedly!) dipped into the 60s. I plan to keep it in my regular rotation, styling it with everything from vintage capri pants to white denim shorts.

Some of the more negative reviews on Amazon note that the sweater runs small and the buttons look like they don’t match up. I didn’t have either issue, but since I wanted an oversized fit, I did select a medium instead of my usual small.

I loved this $30 cardigan so much that I’m debating ordering an additional color (it also comes in red). However, Amazon has other similar styles that I’m also curious about—including a 4.8-star GRACE KARIN pick
and a striped LATAHUO sweater
, which is available in black and brown along with white and yellow—so I may end up adding those to my cart as well.

Dua Lipa proves less is more with her latest summer ensemble. On Aug. 27, the singer looked ready to hit the runway in a pair of designer micro shorts made for summer vacation. Blake Lively’s High-Waisted Bikini Feels Like a Subtle Nod to Taylor Swift

On Aug. 18, Lively headed to the pool in a high-waisted bikini paired with a yellow-tinted visor and gold hoop earrings. “this isn’t how you hang by the pool? . . . weird,” Lively captioned Instagram photos of herself sipping club soda and sparkling water as part of her new Betty Buzz ad.

Embracing the primary color scheme, Lively secured her loose blond waves with yellow hair ties on either side of her head. She also paired the ensemble with a yellow-and-white striped pool towel worn across her shoulders like a shrug. Her beauty team completed the look with red lipstick and a matching manicure. A closer look at her swimsuit, though, reveals a possible sartorial nod to a close family friend: Taylor Swift.

It’s no secret that Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and Swift have all been close friends for years. Swift even revealed the name of the couple’s third child in her 2020 song “Betty,” off of the “Folklore” album. Now, intentionally or not, Lively’s swimsuit seems to be a subtle nod to the various eras of Swift’s music catalog. Specifically, fans were quick to call out that the cherry-red shade screamed “Red,” while the cut of the swimsuit itself was fitting of Swift’s bubblegum-pink outfit in the “You Need to Calm Down” music video tied to her “Lover” era.

With “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” slated for release this October, many fans have speculated that “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” will be the next re-recording on the list. Rita Ora Wears a Crystal-Studded Cutout Swimsuit on Stage in Ibiza

Rita Ora planned her latest performance outfit with the summer heat in mind. On Aug. 16, the singer wore a lime green cutout one-piece swimsuit as she arrived at the Ibiza Rocks music festival in Ibiza, Spain. Before taking the stage with DJ Joel Corry, Ora threw off her crystal-studded skirt, revealing a matching swimsuit with an open back beneath the coverup. She completed the neon Self Portrait ensemble with green-tinted sunglasses and a pair of gold rosette sandals that showed off her maximalist junk pedicure.

“Thanks for having me @joelcorry & @ibizarocks,” Ora captioned footage of the performance on her Instagram Stories. On stage, Ora’s swimsuit sparkled. The ruched bodice featured a halter neckline and a trifecta of petal-shaped cutouts embellished with green rhinestones. The gems continued down the midriff and along the back of the design, revealing a delicate tie along the neck and an open back accentuated by a silver clasp.

Paired with the skirt, the swimsuit, which gave a glimpse at Ora’s expansive tattoo collection, created the illusion of a breezy maxi dress. She styled the bright outfit with several accessories, including layered bangles, hoop earrings, multiple statement rings, and floral anklets that jangled as she danced in front of hundreds of cheering fans.

Ora and Corry also paused to take a round of shots together during their set. “CHEERS to that!! @joelcorry,” Ora captioned footage of the moment on IGS. “@ibizarocks what a crowd. In LOVE!!” Once their glasses were empty, Ora said goodbye to the cheering crowd and slipped backstage to cool down in front of a fan after performing in the over-80-degree weather. With her swimsuit already on, we wouldn’t be surprised if the singer also took a dip in the Mediterranean Sea or the nearest pool after the show.

Where most celebrities have embraced the thongkini trend, Ratajkowski’s look accentuated the back of the swimsuit with a thick, pearlescent fabric reminiscent of the quiet-luxury trend made popular by Sofia Richie Grainge earlier this year. Lori Harvey’s new swimwear brand is a sartorial love letter to the high-waisted bikini. At the height of the thongkini trend beloved by celebrities like Chlöe and Heidi Klum, Harvey is spotlighting her favorite swimsuit silhouettes with her new Yevrah Swim collection, released on Aug. 8. The line, which gets its name from the anadrome for Harvey, features 12 pieces designed by Harvey herself, including a colorful range of adjustable wrap bikinis, flattering bandeau tops, and one-piece swimsuits adorned with gold hardware.

“For my first collection, I wanted to release staple pieces in chic colors that can be worn anywhere, any season, and will never go out of style,” Harvey said in a press release. “I am all about inclusivity and I think that is reflected in this collection. There is truly something for everyone that will make them feel confident and sexy.”

To design a truly timeless collection, the model took inspiration from vintage swimsuit silhouettes, styles, and colors. In addition to t-shirt tops and breezy swim coverups, Harvey rounded out the line with a backless playsuit that will easily fit into our wardrobe rotation this season. “I wanted to create something for women to feel beautiful and confident,” Harvey said. “The cuts on these pieces are sure to accentuate every body type and have you feeling sexy and ready for any occasion.” The versatile pieces, which range in price from $80 to $180, were made with all body types in mind and are available exclusively at Revolve in sizes XS to XXL.

On Aug. 4, the model wore a Barbie-pink string bikini by The Attico while sipping champagne on the beach with friends — including Amina Muaddi, DJ Fiona Zanetti, and Nikki Hightower — during a European vacation. To beat the heat, Harvey paired the barely-there bikini with a casual Saint Laurent baseball cap in ecru, the perfect contrast to her sparkling champagne glass.

Blending in perfectly with the Barbiecore aesthetic, Harvey also wore the hot pink triangle bikini while sunbathing on a paddle board in the middle of the sea. Hilary Duff looked effortlessly chic during a stroll through New York City on Aug. 2. Poised to take on the day, Duff posed in front of a brownstone apartment in a see-through organza skirt and matching white top by Tory Burch. Between the design’s delicate fabric and Duff’s elegant accessories, the finished look was what summer dreams are made of.

“Today was lovely and now I get a day to enjoy this glorious nyc weather,” Duff wrote on her Instagram Stories, sharing another glimpse at her ensemble as she attended an event with Olly Wellness. The full outfit, styled by Brit and Kara from Elkin Style, consisted of the double-layer skirt paired with a matching blouse that created the illusion of a sheer midi dress layered over a micro skirt and bandeau top.

At her waist, Duff wore a thin white leather belt, which beautifully complemented her shoulder bag. She completed the outfit with retro white sunglasses, heeled sandals, hoop earrings, and silver jewelry. On her hands, the star broke up the monochrome look with a cherry-red manicure.
