  • Petal & Pup’s Social Hour Edit: Let These 5 Christmas Songs Be The Ultimate Plus-One To Your Holiday Party Dress

    [ad_1]

A couple of prawns taking a deep dive into seafood sauce, ‘Six White Boomers’ by Greg Champion spiralling out of a rogue portable speaker like it’s doing laps around the barbecue, and an arm-wrestle that somehow evolves into a full-blown bon-bon showdown until everyone’s wearing those crunchy paper crowns—yeah, that’s basically the blueprint for the greatest holiday work party ever drafted. The only thing missing? You looking just as festive as the chaos.

Enter: Petal & Pup. The Aussie-based boutique has just launched The Social Hour Edit—a sparkly little line made exclusively for Australians, built for warm nights, rooftop rosé, and any event where sandals are socially acceptable at Christmas. Here’s the twist: some of the pieces in that edit are actually borrowed from their Holiday Party Edit, which is the glitz-heavy collection they released just for the U.S. winter girlies. Think snow-season sparkle repurposed for southern-hemisphere summer fun. Glittering dresses, raisin-bead embellishments, and jewellery so cute your ears will be blushing—yes please.

And while we’re absolutely ready to hit the loop button on Greg until someone stages an intervention, we’re also living for the avalanche of new Christmas originals and covers that have dropped this season. So, consider this your pre-party AUX takeover: our top five festive tracks, each paired with a Social Hour Edit dress you can full-body shimmy into.

The Honey POP received samples from Petal & Pup’s The Social Hour Edit collection in exchange for editorial promotion.

    Kesha’s ‘Holiday Road’

Alright, so, maybe this spunky, synth-splashed Kesha cover of Lindsey Buckingham’s ‘Holiday Road’ first dropped as a Spotify Singles Holiday exclusive and racked up 52 million worldwide streams—but now that it’s finally everywhere (DSPs, streaming, the North Pole’s rotation… obviously Santa has taste), it’s officially back on our festive loop. And for all the vinyl lovers manifesting a little needle-to-groove magic under the tree, it’s getting its first-ever 7” vinyl release for Record Store Day Black Friday 2025 on November 28. Consider this your cosmic nudge to start hinting early.

Kesha’s whole vibe is pure expression—bold colors, unapologetic glitter, and that delicious sense of why be subtle when you can be iconic? Which is exactly why the floral Martha Maxi Dress is her energy twin. A halterneck, floor-length moment with an A-line skirt, it’s effortlessly gorgeous in the way that looks like you wandered out of a garden party hosted by a pop star and somehow became the main character without even trying.

Jonas Brothers’ ‘Coming Home This Christmas’

Our favorite snatcher—lollies, guitars, Kevin Jonas’ entire existence in the ‘Coming Home For Christmas’ video, he’s taking it all—plus resident glitter-thrower Nick, and, because we’re absolutely pretending he slipped his new catchphrase into the festive chaos, “Bing Bing Bong” Joe. All three of our beloved brothers are literally going home for the holidays… and by home, we mean Disney. A Very Jonas Christmas is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, which feels exactly right for the trio we basically grew up with.

Their new song—co-written with the brothers, Kenny G, and producers David Stewart and Luke Batt—is a warm, cinnamon-scented ode to what actually matters this season: family. And that’s why the yellow Alima Sleeveless Maxi Dress is the vibe match. It’s the perfect minimalist staple, whether you’re curled up on the couch with your partner for your annual movie marathon or helping your parents wrestle the tree into its stand. With a clean boat neckline that highlights your shoulders, a drapey back cowl, and a sly little side split, it has that magical “I totally didn’t try this hard” energy… even though it looks like you absolutely did.

Carter Faith Featuring William Beckmann’s ‘Nothin’ For Christmas’

Our girl in red—no, genuinely, Carter Faith dipped her brush straight into cherry pigment and painted her whole debut era Cherry Valley with it—has teamed up with William Beckmann for a two-track festive duo drop, A Cherry Valley Holiday. Carter takes the lead with a velvety cover of The Eagles’ ‘Please Come Home for Christmas’, while both of them lean into the heart-squeeze of the original ‘Nothin’ For Christmas’—that song that perfectly captures the angst of skipping Secret Santa because the only gift you actually want (your crush) still hasn’t shown up under the metaphorical tree.

Now, follow us here because this is where Petal & Pup’s double-universe moment comes in. On the U.S. Holiday Edit, the stunning Jeannie Maxi Dress—a cross-halter moment with a dreamy faux-pearl back—is dipped in deep, festive red. But on the Aussie site, the exact same dress pulls a sunny switch-up in yellow. Still magical, still “main character walking into the party at golden hour”—just a different flavor of iconic.

With its floral lace trim floating along the hem of its maxi-length silhouette, we’re obsessed with both versions. It’s giving multiverse couture, and honestly? We’re thriving.

    LOCASH’s ‘Snow Angel’

So, we’re getting a little colour-confused here, but honestly? Perfect timing—because enter the LOCASH duo Preston Brust and Chris Lucas for the ultimate Christmas hue tug-of-war. Their original track, ‘Snow Angel,’ gently reminds us that blue absolutely belongs on the holiday mood board. Co-written with Andy Albert and produced by Jacob Rice, the country-spun carol paints their significant other as their “snow angel,” cozying up the season with romantic little snowflakes of gratitude for all the memories their muses help shape.

And sure, the Bonita Maxi Dress is technically mint green, but if you squint (or just lean into the vibe), it totally gives a soft winter blue—at least its resin bead detailing does, complete with gold-tone hardware and that dreamy blue bead right at the bust. This floor-length V-neck moment features a contrast lace trim and gives off the exact energy of someone who effortlessly floats into the room like the warm-weather version of a snow angel.

Laufey’s ‘Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town’

By now, we all know that if anyone’s helping steer Santa’s sleigh, it’s our jazz titan Laufey. Between her Christmas EPs, Bill Murray casually popping into her ‘Santa Baby’ music video last year, and now going full North Pole mode with her album A Very Laufey Holiday—a seven-track love letter to the season—everything she touches in December turns into pure festive ambience. Her cover of Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town’ is no exception: a classic given a whimsical, humming revival, sprinkled with wistful whistles and those signature Laufey inflections that feel like a warm mug of something sweet.

And if we’re celebrating Santa’s season properly, nothing screams “festive party mode activated” like the Eisley Halter Midi Dress in orange sequins. With its glitter-drenched fabric, halterneck tie that shows off your back, and a deep V-neckline bringing the drama front and center, it’s basically made for Christmas Eve parties—the kind where you sparkle so bright the tree starts getting jealous.

So tell us—which dress are you low-key manifesting your bestie will wrap up for you this season? Drop your fave over on our Twitter, Facebook, or Insta so you can, you know, casually leave the universe (and your friend) the most obvious breadcrumb trail ever. Manifestation, but make it social-media-friendly. 💅✨

  • The Golden Hour Menu: Order A Mocktail, We Serve The LSPACE Outfit

    [ad_1]

Honey-dipped daydreamer? Coastal chill siren? Sunset flirt? Citrus-clean minimalist? Or tropical muse? Now that we’ve done the golden-hour roll call, odds are you already know which vibe you slip into the second your passport stamps and the sun hits your collarbone. You could pick your archetype by name alone — but we’re not handing out sparkling, sunset-coded glory without the details to match.

Enter LSPACE: the breezy California lifestyle brand founded by Monica Wise, built on sun-soaked silhouettes and swim that feels like a vacation moodboard come to life. Their new Golden Hour Getaway collection drifts between loose fits, flirty cuts, and those perfect glide-from-beach-to-glam pieces you wear from daylight tan to rooftop twilight. We’ve pulled our favorite ready-to-wear looks from the drop and paired each one with its golden-hour persona — so you can figure out exactly which piece belongs in your suitcase (and on your sunset stroll). And once you’ve met your vacation alter ego? We’ll pour the perfect mocktail to match her glow.

The Honey POP received samples from LSPACE in exchange for editorial promotion.

    ☀️ The Honey-Dipped Daydreamer

Our sun-bathing poet — the girl who collects sunsets like orange-hued love letters — lives in a palette of blush petal pinks, soft apricot haze, and (obviously) honey. She’s glowing before she even speaks. That’s why we’re styling her in the Tatum One Piece Swimsuit in Begonia: a romantic, curve-hugging softie with a hammered gold ring at the bust that makes the whole look (and fabric) feel deliciously snatched by sunlight.

The model paired it with a tie-dyed bandana, but LSPACE has you covered with accessories that lean fully into “soft-luxury vacation muse”: the palm-woven Coastal Sea Visor for coastal-chic shade, or the honey-tinted FREYRS Aria Sunglasses for a retro-romantic wink.

And when she finally turns from the sun, parched and glowing? She reaches for a Sparkling Peach Sunrise — a total glow-up of the classic virgin sunrise, swapping orange juice for peach so the drink matches her aura.

She doesn’t tan, she marinates in honeyed attention. Check out the recommended recipe here!

    🌴 The Coastal Chill Siren

Our unbothered, seasalt-luxe girlie is the embodiment of “I’ll get there when the tide does,” dangling her toes in the water while she casually people-watches like it’s a sport. Her palette lives in frothy seafoam, coconut milk, and warm sand beige, which makes the Sander Top and Sander Skirt set her perfect match. The crochet duo is breezy and low-effort chic: a cropped sleeveless top paired with a tie-waist mini that looks like it was made to be worn over sun-kissed skin.

Footwear? A no-brainer. The TKEES Square Toe Lily Sandals feel like barefoot, but prettier. Hair? Tossed up with the Machete Midi Claw — because the messy bun is the vacation blowout.

And when she finally leaves her lounge throne for a sip? She reaches for a Coconut Mojito with green tea — chilled, creamy, and “I live here” energy in a glass.

She’s not trying to impress you — she’s letting the horizon do that for her. Check out the recommended recipe here!

    🍓 The Sunset Flirt

Most likely to make her entrance after the sun dips and the air gets a little stickier, our Sunset Flirt is the “I’m adorable, but also mildly dangerous in warm lighting” girl of the lineup. Her palette glows in twinkle-gold highlight (dusted across the collarbone, obviously), rosé blush, and soft coral — so cheeky cuts are basically her love language.

That’s why we’re styling her in the April Top and Lia Short duo: a flame-red halter with a tie-front bodice and smocked back, paired with pocket shorts that read “dressy, but I still might cause trouble later.” The vibe is laidback, sultry — like she didn’t try, but somehow everyone looked twice.

And accessories? She needs something that winks as hard as she does. Enter the oversized Moonlight Bag, stamped with “cheeky” in big, juicy red lettering — a whole personality on its own.

When she pauses long enough to sip something? It’s the Strawberry Lime Mocktail Margarita — sweet on the surface, spicy once it lands, and absolutely main-character coded.

She’s the reason golden hour turns into someone’s plot twist. Check out the recommended recipe here!

    🍋 The Citrus-Clean Minimalist

Quiet luxury in a sunbeam, the Citrus-Clean Minimalist is the soft wallflower whose presence is felt, not announced. Her palette is lemon sorbet, always-sipping-never-pouring champagne, and salted olive accents — the elegant neutrals that make the Tessa Top and Lia Shorts her natural habitat. Both come in crisp white: the strapless tie-back top with an elastic, ruched band is a soft ode to sun-kissed shoulders, while the mid-rise shorts (with both side and back pockets) are the perfect minimalist cover-up for a just-as-elevated bikini underneath.

When the breeze rolls in, she layers — never bundles — with the Shell Be There Cardigan, delicate cream and light-brown seashells scattering across the knit like the shore decided to accessorize her.

And for her drink? A Lemon Drop Martini Mocktail — the kind that arrives like a statement without volume. Sleek glassware, clean citrus finish, no visual fuss… It’s her silhouette in beverage form.

She looks like she smells like a spa lobby and has never experienced chaos. Check out the recommended recipe here!

    🌺 The Tropical Muse

Our sun-ripened siren, the Tropical Muse, is the girl sunscreen is trying (and failing) to protect you from — the heatwave aura too enticing for mere SPF. She’s guava red, ocean glow, and lush palm green incarnate, which makes the All I Need Mini in Hibiscus Bloom her natural stage: a throw-it-on dress that still reads like slow-burn glamour.

The delicate keyhole back and fluid drape spark movement with every step — she doesn’t walk, she blooms through the room. Style her with the TKEES Square Toe Lily Sandals in red (though she’ll abandon them the second her feet meet warm sand) or the Vienna Clutch, adorned with real shells, seeds, beads, and sequins — part accessory, part shoreline trophy case.

And drink of choice? A Spicy Guava Mocktail — juicy, tropical, and just dangerous enough to feel like folklore in a glass.

She doesn’t enter a space — she shifts barometric pressure. Check out the recommended recipe here!

Every sunset deserves its muse — and now you’ve found yours.

Already counting down to that perfect glow-shot moment? When you’re all dressed up in your Golden Hour Getaway look and sipping your matching mocktail, snap a pic and tag us on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook — and don’t forget to tag LSPACE, too. We want to see your sunset alter ego in the wild.

  • “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Fashion Secrets, From Belly’s Wedding Gown to Reformation Dresses

While each product featured is independently selected by our editors, we may include paid promotion. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission. Read more about our Product Review Guidelines here.

We are proud participants in “The Summer I Turned Pretty” fandom here at Popsugar (way before the recent hype). And can you really blame us? Although completely fictional, the complexity and allure of the show’s love triangle is so relatable — namely, Belly Conklin’s (Lola Tung) entanglement with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney), who also happen to be brothers. A classic, messy love story. While our eyes are constantly glued to the screen in anticipation of the latest drama every Wednesday, we’re paying attention to the outfits just as much — not because they’re absolutely groundbreaking as far as sartorial convention goes, but because of their accessibility.

As a young woman with an ever-evolving emotional identity, Belly displays a fashion sense that’s equal parts appropriate, classic, and effortless. We’re talking all-encompassing wardrobe staples like flirty, printed dresses from Reformation for daily escapades, Levi’s jeans for wedding dress shopping, and her Victoria Beckham bridal gown that’s only $1,250 — far from your average bridal ensemble splurge.

We also see noteworthy style from other characters, like Taylor Jewel, that reflects the essence of the series’ magical setting, Cousins Beach. Inspired by East Coast beach towns, including Martha’s Vineyard and The Hamptons, the timely aesthetic feels particularly achievable. From affordable picks that are perfect for your last-minute New England summer getaway to “The Summer I Turned Pretty”-inspired collections from Solid & Striped, keep scrolling to shop some of our favorite pieces inspired by season three.

  • Hailey Bieber Wore Polarizing Polka-Dot Capris, So of Course I Had to Try Them

    [ad_1]

While each product featured is independently selected by our editors, we may include paid promotion. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission. Read more about our Product Review Guidelines here.

“How do you feel about capris coming back?” I DM’d my best friend, forwarding her the above Hailey Bieber look. “Do NOT try those,” she warned me. And that just made me all the more tempted to re-create the outfit. *Smirks* If you consider yourself an avid shopper and you’re also on TikTok, then you probably already know that both capri pants and polka dots are major summer fashion trends for 2025. So when Bieber pulled off both in one fell swoop, rocking her Paloma Wool Aneu Leggings — which are sadly sold out, though they look similar to the Reclaimed Vintage Polka Dot Print Capri Pants ($40) and Afrm Gianna Capri Pant ($58) — I wondered if I, too, could handle the chaos — you know, without being a supermodel and everything.

Accessorizing with similar ’90s minimalist accessories, from flip-flop heels to Matrix-worthy sunglasses, did help. I also opted for shorter denim capris, selecting the ASOS Design Denim Capri in Mini Polka Dot ($43), to provide a bit more structure and help me balance proportions, since Bieber stands taller than me by seven inches. And honestly? Once I was wearing the capris, I really warmed up to the pant length — so much so that the silhouette felt less polarizing than the bold print.

While I do understand the adverse reaction many folks have to capris (i.e. “How could those be flattering?”), I think it comes down to choosing the inseam that’s right for your body type, and that may take some trial and error. Plus, capris have some perks! They allow for a bold shoe moment, play into nostalgia (more on that below), and are a great transitional season pant to try when the temperature’s unpredictable.

Are Capri Pants Back in Style For 2025?

Capri pants became a pop culture staple synonymous with style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, and Marilyn Monroe in the 1950s and 1960s, but they also saw a resurgence in the early 2000s, when girls sported low-slung, cargo iterations with platform flip-flops and polos (think: “The O.C.”). Their modern-day revival can be traced back to spring/summer 2025 runways — from Louis Vuitton to Sandy Liang — and the subsequent celebrity stamp of approval. (Hailey Bieber! Keke Palmer! Kendall Jenner! Dua Lipa!)

Lucky for you, I sorted through the hottest capris of the moment and rounded up the best iterations for you to shop if you want to dip your toe. I promise, they’re not as intimidating as they seem.

  • This $48 Loft Skirt Nails the Bandana Trend I Keep Seeing on TikTok

    [ad_1]

While each product featured is independently selected by our editors, we may include paid promotion. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission. Read more about our Product Review Guidelines here.

My earliest memories of Loft date back to when it was still called Ann Taylor Loft, when I’d tag along with my mom to help her pick out work outfits. It’s been a minute since I’ve stepped foot in a store, but recently, my TikTok algorithm (which knows me frighteningly well) served up a few trending fashion picks from the brand’s website. And honestly? Loft is delivering. The pieces feel exactly like the aesthetic I’m reaching for these days: elevated but effortless, polished yet comfortable. Cue me immediately adding the exact items they fed me to my cart: the Deco Mini Wrap Skirt and the Ribbed Square Neck Sweater Tank Top ($33, originally $55). I’m honestly devastated for your sake that the aforementioned skirt has since sold out (sorry!), but on the bright side, the brand currently carries one that’s just as good, especially for vacation, in my opinion. Enter the LOFT Tiled Wrap Midi Skirt ($48, originally $80).

    Main Image

And in the rare but miraculous event that the Deco Mini Wrap Skirt comes back in stock — or you spot it at a location near you (which, honestly, isn’t that unlikely) — here’s my honest review:

About the Loft Deco Mini Wrap Skirt

    • The Loft Deco Mini Wrap Skirt is available in both regular and petite sizes.
    • You can find it in stores and online.
    • It’s made of 100 percent lyocell and is machine washable.
    • It measures 17.5 inches in length and features a straight, relaxed shift fit.

What I Like About the Loft Deco Mini Wrap Skirt

What I like most about the Loft Deco Mini Wrap Skirt is how it blends two trends I keep seeing on Pinterest: bandana prints and sarong-style silhouettes. The fit feels polished yet playful, and with the right accessories, I can wear it just as easily for daytime plans as I can for a night out.

It’s also incredibly easy to style. Admittedly, I’m not the most adventurous dresser, so this skirt speaks to my minimalist heart — it looks chic with anything black and white (though by all means, go bold if that’s your thing). I paired it with a classic Loft tank I’ll be wearing on repeat year-round, the Staud handbag I wear constantly, and a pair of strappy black heels.

Lastly (and at the risk of sounding a little obsessed), I love that this skirt isn’t an online exclusive. So many pieces sell out fast online and are nearly impossible to track down. Thankfully, it’s also available in stores, and I noticed that several Minnesota locations near me still had it in stock. (Can’t promise the same for you, but I’m hopeful!)

What to Consider About the Loft Deco Mini Wrap Skirt

Something to keep in mind about the Loft Deco Mini Wrap Skirt is that it’s made of 100 percent lyocell, which the brand lists as machine washable in the product details. While that’s true, I did a little digging and found that the best way to keep it looking its best long-term is to wash it on a delicate cycle in cold water with a mild detergent, then air dry. I’m admittedly reaching for cons here, but if you’re planning to keep this piece in regular rotation, it’s worth noting.

Where Is the Loft Deco Mini Wrap Skirt Available?

No shocker here: the Deco Mini Wrap Skirt is a Loft exclusive, available both in stores and online.

What is the Guava Girl aesthetic, you may be wondering?

Think tropical. This aesthetic, which involves makeup, skincare, nails, and clothing, is all about bright, vibrant colors like pink and green (the guava fruit is green on the outside and a coral-pink hue on the inside), fresh and juicy makeup, beachy clothing, and all around good vibes. It couldn’t be more fitting for the summertime!

From guava-infused beauty products to guava-inspired clothing pieces, in this post you’ll find everything you need to embrace the Guava Girl aesthetic without breaking the bank.

So, are you ready to have a Guava Girl summer? If so, read on for your guide to getting the summer’s freshest aesthetic!

    Guava Girl Skincare & Beauty

Infuse your skincare, makeup, and fragrance with juicy guava and other tropical fruits for the ultimate summertime glow-up.

    Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm

We all know and love Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm (it’s a staple), and now the brand has released a new “Pink Guava” shade option just in time for Guava Girl Summer!

This vegan lip treatment, which uses shea butter and murumuru seed butter to hydrate and soften lips, can be popped on for a sheer bright pink color with a hint of sweet guava flavor.

It’s going to give you juicy-looking (and tasting) lips in a flash.

    REFY Cream Blush

    REFY guava blushREFY guava blush

When it comes to Guava Girl makeup, you want to go for a summery look that involves flushed-looking cheeks, juicy lips, and playful pops of color (while still keeping things natural).

REFY’s cream blush is a viral sensation that is beloved for its creamy yet lightweight formula and buildable pigment. The shade “Guava,” a vibrant fuschia pink with warm tones, is going to give your cheeks a naturally flushed look which can be pumped up for even more color if desired.

I especially love using cream blushes during the summertime because they look and feel more natural on the skin, they are effortless to apply (you can use your fingers rather than a makeup brush), and they have a dewy finish that gives your skin a healthy look.

Fenty Skin by Rihanna Butta Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream

You’ve probably seen Kulfi’s Lassi Lips staining lip oil on your TikTok FYP, since it has gone totally viral for its unique formula. Lip stains tend to have watery formulations, but this lip oil is uniquely glossy and hydrating, designed for maximum comfort. Once it dries down, it leaves behind a stain of color on your lips for a long-wearing look.

The shade “Guava” is a peony pink hue that couldn’t be more perfect for the summer, that’s going to add a bright pop of color to your lips and complement your tan while lasting all night long.

Another amazing fragrance for the summertime is OUAI’s St. Barts Hair and Body Mist. While it doesn’t include guava in its fragrance notes, it truly smells like a vacation in a bottle, and features an exotic blend of dragon fruit, orange blossom, tuberose, and musk.

You can spritz this mist on from head to toe, since it can be used in your hair and on your body. This fragrance is so popular that in addition to the fragrance mist, you can also enjoy the scent in the brand’s body wash, body cream, sugar scrub, and more.

You no longer have to rely on a nail technician or your own nail art skills to get an incredible, intricate nail design—press-on nails are seriously one of my favorite beauty inventions to exist.

This press-on nail design features a gleam of green glitter stripes on French tips and pink wildflower designs that combined, have a totally tropical feel.

    Guava to Go! Nail Strips

Another easy way to get cool-looking nails is with nail strips, which are almost like stickers that you press onto your natural nails (no nail polish needed).

These “Guava to Go!” nail strips feature a coral pink to soft orange ombré effect with a glossy, high-shine finish, and last for up to 14 days.

Multiple sizes are included in this pack, so that you can find the nail strip that best fits the size of your own nails for a customized look that is oh-so-summery.

    Guava Girl Clothing & Accessories

Though the Guava Girl aesthetic first started as a beauty trend, it has extended to beachy clothing and accessories that are ideal for the summer season. Get the Guava Girl look head-to-toe with these budget-friendly fashion picks under $100.

Hibiscus Flower Graphic Print T-Shirt & Crochet Skirt

lulus hibiscus top crochet skirtlulus hibiscus top crochet skirt

When I think of the Guava Girl aesthetic, I think of beachy outfits just like this one!

This cropped t-shirt with a hibiscus flower graphic print and white crochet cover-up skirt were practically made for a summer vacation.

Hibiscus flowers are tropical plants, and their vibrant appearance brings exotic locales like Hawaii to mind, while crochet is a summertime staple that always looks amazing in cover-ups.

You can also style these pieces separately: wear the cropped t-shirt with denim shorts, or wear the skirt with a one-piece swimsuit to the beach or pool.

    Beaded Floral Print Mini Dress

From its pink and orange ombré color scheme to its beaded floral print design, this mini dress is a Guava Girl’s dream.

It has a summer-ready low back and halter neckline, plus shiny satin fabric and beaded details that take it up a notch. The tropical yet feminine feel of this dress makes it perfect for a summer night out—just add some sandals and cute jewelry for the full look.

Floral Print Crop Top & Maxi Skirt

In case you haven’t noticed, tropical floral prints are a major trend this summer, and these prints are a signature of the Guava Girl aesthetic.

This strapless crop top with a tropical floral print and its matching printed maxi skirt are sure to make a statement, especially when paired with beachy accessories like a woven straw bag and strappy sandals.

Wear them together as an eye-catching coordinated set, or separately with other items in your wardrobe for new looks.

    Tropical Fruits Graphic Print T-Shirt

edikted tropical fruit tshirtedikted tropical fruit tshirt

While this adorable graphic print t-shirt doesn’t have a guava on it, it has plenty of other tropical fruits in the same category that make it a fit for this aesthetic.

With a pineapple, papaya, pomegranate, bananas, and more, this colorful t-shirt is ultra-summery and is the definition of easy-breezy.

Keep it casual with some jean shorts or linen pants, or dress it up a bit with a bright mini skirt and chunky jewelry.

Striped Knit Tube Top & Micro Shorts

uo stripe crochet shorts setuo stripe crochet shorts set

Fruits and floral prints aren’t the only way to get the Guava Girl aesthetic; stripes can work too, if they are colorful and crochet-inspired, that is!

This striped knit tube top and matching micro shorts feature a bunch of bright hues including pink and green for a summer-ready color palette and a crochet-like knit fabric.

The coolest part about this set? It is made using deadstock remnant fabrics to create a sustainable style that you can feel good about wearing.

If you’re headed to a beach vacation, this set would be perfect for bringing along with you: wear it as a swimsuit cover-up, and mix and match it with other items in your vacation wardrobe for multiple looks. The tube top would look incredible with a maxi skirt, while the shorts would look adorable with an oversized graphic-print t-shirt.

    Mesh Floral Print Midi Dress

How gorgeous is this green mesh midi dress with a tropical floral print and off-the-shoulder design? It was practically made for summer nights out on the town (preferably those that involve dancing, thanks to its floaty asymmetrical hemline that is perfect for twirling in).

This dress has tons of unique, eye-catching design details, including twisted straps and side ruching for a flattering fit. Its green and pink color palette is definitely giving Guava Girl!

    Convertible Skirt/Dress

fp convertible coral skirtfp convertible coral skirt

I am a huge fan of clothing that serves multiple uses, and this coral-colored convertible skirt can also be worn as a dress, making it such a versatile piece!

You’re basically getting two clothing pieces in one effortless piece (which also makes it ideal for vacation when you have limited space in your suitcase).

It is soft and stretchy, and features a wide waistband and tie details that unfold to form the bodice of a swingy midi dress.

Though it comes in a few other colors, this pink coral hue really reminds me of the inside of a guava.

    Cut-Out Open-Back Crop Top

lulus green cutout crop toplulus green cutout crop top

This ribbed cut-out crop top is just the right shade of guava green, and its flirty cut-outs and open back are perfect for showing off your summer tan.

The top also features wood-like beads for a beachy vibe, along with a textured ribbed material for added visual interest.

Whether you wear it with denim shorts, a floral print skirt, or linen pants, you can’t go wrong with this summery top.

Fruit Print Bikini Top & Cheeky Bottom

vs pink fruit bikinivs pink fruit bikini

A Guava Girl is a girl who loves the beach (the pool and lake count, too)—if there’s water, sun, and sand, she’s there!

That’s why you obviously need a cute swimsuit if you want to embrace the Guava Girl aesthetic. This fun fruit-print bikini has a cheeky side-tie bottom and a triangle top, both which feature adjustable ties for a comfortable, customizable fit.

The bikini’s juicy, fruity print may not include actual guava fruit, but it does feature other summertime favorites like watermelons, grapefruit, and cherries, making it a part of the overall aesthetic.

BTW, if you love the print but prefer a one-piece swimsuit, there is a halter one-piece version here. Either way, you’re sure to make a splash in this playful swim pick!

Even four years on from its viral takeover of the internet, Hill House Home’s famous Nap Dress still reigns supreme as one of summer’s most quintessential styles. The comfy frock first earned its status as a wardrobe staple during the pandemic, when the dress — beloved for its lived-in silhouette and universal ‘fit — was lauded for the way that it could make anyone look pulled together and polished in an instant (even if they were just lounging around at home).

Before long, nightgown-esque dresses started popping up everywhere — on red carpets, runways, and even styled on some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities. With the help of shows like “Bridgerton” and TikTok trends like cottagecore and the coquette aesthetic, the gown has continued to find new life in younger generations.

And while other brands have attempted to replicate the magic of the Hill House nap dress, few have delivered a style quite as versatile — in fact, that’s the story with most of Hill House Home’s offerings. The label has developed a reputation for its wide array of functional and timeless pieces, which are designed with all types of occasions in mind; imagine clothes that are made to be worn from your bed to the beach and beyond.

Anne Hathaway — ever the fashion icon — recently made the case for one of the brand’s other prominent styles when she donned the Hill House Home Azalea Nap Top ($98) and Hill House Home Delphine Nap Skirt ($128) while vacationing in Capri, Italy.

Hathaway’s matching ensemble features a bright, red-orange coloring with delicate eyelet details and a sleeveless top. While her exact set has since been upgraded to include scrunched straps — and now comes in a variety of other color options — you can still shop her breezy summer look for under $200.

Whether you’re looking to take a style cue from the star or simply want to upgrade your late-summer wardrobe, we rounded up the best pieces to shop from Hill House Home’s bestsellers page ahead — including the cult-favorite nap dress. From a long-sleeve maxi dress to a mini dress with puff sleeves, these are the pieces you’ll want to live in this season — and well into the next one, too.

  • Dark Academia Summer Outfits: How to Wear the Trend Even When It’s Hot Out

Dark Academia Summer Outfits: How to Wear the Trend Even When It’s Hot Out

    [ad_1]

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you purchase through our links. Please read our full disclosure here.

This post will show you how to wear the dark academia aesthetic during the summer.

IDK about you, but when I think of the dark academia aesthetic, I immediately think of the fall season.

This fashion aesthetic instantly brings to mind crunching leaves, quiet libraries and museums, historied University campuses, and even the fictional academic worlds in Harry Potter or The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

So how can you dress in the dark academia aesthetic if it’s scorching hot outside?

Have no fear, this is where our fashion guide comes in! You can still embrace the dark academia aesthetic in the summertime by making strategic swaps and lightening up on the layering, instead focusing on prints and accessories.

Preppy meets gothic, romantic meets refined — this aesthetic has intellectual and literary influences, featuring classic pieces that are timeless. The goal is to look polished but with a hint of nostalgia and whimsy, drawing inspiration from classic literature and poetry.

Add a touch of elegance to your summertime wardrobe with these affordable dark academia outfits, clothing, and accessories that will help you stay cool in the summer heat while still looking elevated.

To start, here are some of the key elements to look for when styling summer dark academia outfits:

Key Elements of Summer Dark Academia Outfits

    • Stick with muted, neutral, and dark color palettes. This is the “dark” academia aesthetic, after all! Since it’s warm out, consider wearing browns, beiges, grays, and earthy tones rather than jet black to help keep you a bit cooler. If you do wear black, be sure it’s something that is lightweight! This leads me to the next point…
    • Light and breathable fabrics are essential. This aesthetic often involves heavier materials like wool and knitwear, but those will certainly have you sweating in the summertime. Instead, go for cotton, linen, and lightweight knits (yes, there is such a thing) to help keep you cool. Loose-fitting pieces are another great way to keep things breezy.
    • Intellectual and refined details are the cornerstones of dark academia. To master this aesthetic, you must look polished, which can be achieved by wearing classic pieces like collared shirts, pleated skirts and dresses, loafers, and similar timeless items.
    • Vintage-inspired accessories will take your outfits to the next level and give them a true dark academia feel. From dainty watches to oversized glasses to hair bows, these extras will make all the difference. If you’re able to thrift these, even better!

Summer Dark Academia Outfits and Clothing

    Light and Breathable Fabrics

Despite its dark color palette, this outfit features lightweight fabrics that will keep you cool this summer.

These linen-blend high-waisted shorts have a tailored silhouette and come with a belt, giving them an ultra-polished look. Wear them with a short-sleeve button-down shirt, like this black and khaki checked shirt made of 100% European linen. Like the shorts, this notched collar shirt features a breathable material that won’t weigh you down on a hot day.

Accessorize with vintage-inspired pieces like these textured black and gold pearl earrings, along with a structured tote bag. This burgundy red tote can be customized with your monogram, adding to its classic look.

Ballet flats are not only a major fashion trend this season but the perfect shoe choice for your summer dark academia outfits. This particular pair is Mary Jane-inspired, with a buckle and breathable mesh construction, making them ideal for the summer.

    Vintage Polo T-Shirt

Collared tops have a polished look that will make you look put-together and refined.

This one is dark in color, but its short sleeves will help keep you cool, as will its lightweight, cotton-blend fabric. It has a ’70s prep-inspired design that perfectly fits that dark academia aesthetic.

    Cotton Poplin Wrap Midi Skirt

This 100% cotton poplin midi skirt has a classic silhouette with a wrap-front design and button detail that gives it a retro flair. Its muted brown hue is right on the mark for your summertime dark academia outfits, and its cotton fabrication is perfectly breathable for the hot weather.

Wear it with a short-sleeve button-down shirt or blouse tucked into it, along with flats and vintage-inspired accessories.

    Embrace Dark and Muted Colors

Dark, muted, and earth-tone colors, along with classic silhouettes, are the best ways to achieve the dark academia look. Even in the summertime, you can wear darker hues, so long as they are made with lightweight fabrics!

For example, this black sleeveless longline vest top is made with a linen blend fabric, making it a prime choice. Its tailored design and round neckline also add to its sophistication. Wear it either with flowy trouser pants, tailored shorts, or an A-line midi skirt, like this muted plaid print midi with pockets.

Elevate the ensemble even further with classy accessories like a dainty gold watch, vintage-inspired gold rope disk stud earrings, a black lettuce-edge hair bow clip, and some black slingback loafers. Loafers are the quintessential dark academia shoe, and a slingback version is ideal for the summertime, as they have a more open, airy feel than traditional loafers.

Black & White Polka Dot Mini Dress

This black and white polka dot mini dress has a vintage-inspired silhouette with a lapel collar, puff sleeves, and a fitted drop waist bodice.

Paired with some loafers or Mary Janes (plus white ankle or knee socks), you’ll be ready to romanticize your trip to the library, museum, or wherever the day takes you.

    Pleated Pinstripe Mini Dress

White pinstripes help to break up the black hue of this pleated mini dress, making it more summer-friendly, along with its sleeveless tube design. Its fit-and-flare silhouette with a school uniform-inspired pleated skirt adds to its appeal.

Style it with some chunky loafers and white crew socks for the full dark academia effect.

Go Mad for Plaid and Other Retro Prints

Plaid is the quintessential print of the dark academia aesthetic; its prep school vibe gives it a refined and intellectual appearance that is timeless.

This plaid mini dress with mini puff short sleeves has a retro shift silhouette that will look incredible with some sheer white cotton crew socks and black buckled loafers. If you’re worried about wearing socks during the summertime, have no fear: these are ultra-thin and made from breathable cotton, making them the ultimate summer sock.

Don’t forget to accessorize with vintage-inspired accessories like a flower locket necklace, a buckled vegan leather shoulder bag, and some ’90s slim reader glasses.

Dark lipstick is another signature of the dark academia aesthetic, but in the summertime, you probably don’t want to wear a super dark, matte lip. Instead, try Clinique’s Lip + Cheek Oil in their iconic “Black Honey” hue, which will give you a sheer wash of color that is just dark enough while still looking dewy and summertime-appropriate.

    Plaid Mesh Maxi Skirt

You simply can’t have enough plaid in your dark academia wardrobe, and this dark plaid mesh maxi skirt makes for an excellent addition.

With a classic column silhouette and a sheer mesh overlay, this skirt can be worn in the summertime with a sleeveless top (as shown above) and later on in the fall with a chunky sweater. It’s surprisingly versatile, and its dark plaid print is striking.

    Plaid Pleated Mini Skirt

Plaid and pleats are two staples in dark academia, and together they are an unbeatable combination.

A plaid pleated mini skirt looks like it belongs on a private school campus, which is exactly the vibe we are going for with this aesthetic.

Play up the prep school look by wearing it with a button-down shirt and/or tailored vest, which you can layer later in the season when it gets chillier.

Complete Your Look with Timeless Accessories

Accessories are an amazing way to take your outfits to the next level, and with the dark academia aesthetic, it’s all about classic and vintage-inspired pieces. Plus, you can layer on accessories during the summertime without getting overheated, unlike layering actual clothing (which is a signature of this aesthetic during colder seasons).

Start with a plaid pleated mini skirt that gives off prep school vibes, and pair it with a cream-colored short-sleeve button-down blouse. This one has a frilled collar neckline, mini puff sleeves, and lace inset detailing, all of which add a classically feminine feel to it.

Now for the fun part: accessorizing! Opt for vintage-inspired items like a heart signet ring, a rectangular watch with a leather croco embossed band, and a top handle double-strap buckled backpack that looks thrifted. A tortoiseshell headband will also add a bookish feel, which is always the goal with academia-inspired outfits.

Since it’s summertime, go for slingback loafers rather than traditional loafers for an airier feel. This brown pair has a distressed effect and embossed gold accent, giving them a vintage-looking effect.

Coastal Grandma Style: How to Get the Effortless & Elegant Aesthetic

    [ad_1]

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you purchase through our links. Please read our full disclosure here.

    Coastal Grandma Aesthetic

This post will teach you how to achieve the Coastal Grandma aesthetic, with coastal grandma style clothing, outfit ideas, and style tips.

If you’re on social media, you know how viral trends come and go. But a “viral” trend that has staying power? That would be the Coastal Grandma aesthetic.

Though this aesthetic is a current “trend,” it doesn’t involve trendy clothing — which is a good thing! This look involves classic, classy items that are indeed inspired by grandmothers but ones with style (of course).

Creator Lex Nicoleta coined the term “Coastal Grandmother” last year, and it’s been a hit ever since. I mean, who wouldn’t want to channel Meryl Streep or Diane Keaton in a Nancy Meyers movie when getting dressed?

The Coastal Grandma really thrives during the summertime: activities like boating, tending to the garden, strolling along the beach… these are the vibes we are dressing for with this aesthetic.

So, if you’re ready to embrace the Coastal Grandmother aesthetic (or just curious to find out more about it), read on for the trend breakdown, along with the cutest, affordable Coastal Grandma outfits and Coastal Granda style clothing to try out this summer.

Key Elements of Coastal Grandma Style

    • Neutrals, neutrals, neutrals! This aesthetic is all about neutrals and soft colors, so stay away from anything super bright or vibrant (that goes for patterns and prints, too). Instead, opt for beige, light gray, light blue, and shades of white and cream.
    • Classic clothing pieces are key. Avoid trendy clothing and instead invest in timeless items like button-down shirts, trouser pants, cable knit sweaters, trench coats, and other pieces that stand the test of time. Avoid bold prints and opt for classic stripes instead.
    • Go for comfortable, oversized, and/or loose-fitting clothing. This aesthetic favors pieces like oversized sweaters, flowy pants and trousers, and loose button-down shirts. Stay away from tight pants or dresses, ultra-cropped tops, and super mini skirts — this is a “Grandma”-“-inspired aesthetic, after all.
    • Natural fabrics are what add to the “coastal” element of this aesthetic; materials like linen and cotton have a breezy vibe that feels relaxed, making them the perfect basis for your Coastal Grandma outfits. Materials like raffia and straw are also natural and add a beachy touch.

Styling Tips for Coastal Granma Style

    • Play with different textures for a stylish look. For example, pair a chunky knit sweater with some lightweight linen pants, or wear a cotton dress with a straw or rattan handbag for contrast.
    • Layer knitwear over your outfits for a sophisticated vibe. A cardigan sweater wrapped loosely around your shoulders adds an instant touch of effortless sophistication and is Coastal Grandma-approved.
    • Avoid trendy accessories. Opt for simple yet classic pieces to enhance your outfits without taking away from them.

Coastal Grandma Outfit Ideas and Clothing

    Neutral and Soft Color Palettes

The Coastal Grandma prefers a soft, neutral color palette that is calming and beachy, paired with relaxed fits.

These neutral wide-leg pants with a comfortable drawstring waist are perfect for strolls along the shore (or just hanging out) and are made from a lightweight, natural fabric that is in line with the Coastal Grandma aesthetic.

Wear them with an equally lightweight and loose-fitting boat neck sweater in a similar cream color — this one features a mohair blend material with a boat neck that adds to its appeal.

Comfort is key for the Coastal Grandma aesthetic, so skip the uncomfortable heels or sandals and opt for some bone leather double-strap footbed sandals with buckle details.

Enhance the ensemble with beachy (yet minimal) accessories like some small gold shell stud earrings, a baroque pearl bracelet, and a canvas tote bag with a cute seashell graphic print.

    Beige Striped Sweater

Creams, beiges, whites, and off-whites are mainstays in a Coastal Grandmother’s wardrobe, and this lightweight pullover sweater is a perfect example of the aesthetic’s color palette.

With a relaxed fit and linked seams, this knit can be worn alone or over a white button-down shirt.

    Timeless and Classic Pieces

You can never go wrong with timeless and classic clothing pieces, especially for the Coastal Grandffma aesthetic.

Start with a striped button-down shirt with neutral hues, like this affordable linen option that has an oversized fit. Tuck it into some beige linen-blend shorts, and break up the neutrals with a classic brown leather belt.

Accessories are a great way to infuse your outfit with a coastal feel, and these gold shell earrings with pearls will do just the trick, along with a summery straw basket bag. This one has woven brown leather handles that tie into the brown leather belt for a cohesive look. A pair of raffia slide sandals with a footbed will keep you comfortable while adding another beachy touch.

    White Button Down Shirt

I probably don’t need to convince you on why everyone should have a classic white button-down shirt in their wardrobe, but if I did, I would start off by saying that it’s one of the most timeless clothing items anyone could own.

The Coastal Grandmother knows this all too well, and often styles looks around this must-have — especially a 100% cotton shirt, like the one above.

    Nautical Vibes

Doesn’t this outfit make you want to take a beach stroll or explore a cute coastal town?

This cozy knit hoodie has major nautical vibes thanks to its blue and white stripes and relaxed fit. It has an airy, medium-gauge knit construction that makes it ideal for a breezy summer evening.

Wear it with some white linen shorts that have a flowy, relaxed fit and a comfortable drawstring waistband. This straw tote bag is beyond adorable, with a blue and white striped interior (another nautical touch), white leather handles, and a customizable monogram. Use it as your handbag, bring it to the beach, or take it on a boat — its quite versatile no matter what summer activities are on your agenda.

Some beachy raffia slide sandals with a short flatform heel and blue clover earrings complete the ensemble.

Blue & White Striped Linen Midi Dress

This blue and white striped midi dress is giving total coastal chic, with its nautical-inspired stripes and natural linen blend fabric.

Wear this frock on a hot day — its breezy design and lightweight material is going to help you stay cool while looking polished. Be sure to accessorize with a straw or woven bag, sunglasses with a classic shape, and cute sandals.

    Comfortable & Loose-Fitting Clothing

As a Coastal Grandma, you should look like you’re ready to hop on a boat or take a beachside stroll at any given moment — and this outfit fits the bill.

These loose-fitting blue and white striped pants are not only incredibly on-trend this season, but have a relaxed, nautical look that is perfect for this aesthetic. Wear them with a slouchy knit, like this navy blue American flag sweater that you could always throw on over a tank top.

Some suede clogs with a footbed are a comfy shoe choice that reflects the easy-going nature of the Coastal Grandma. Bring the outfit together with some oval metal sunglasses, a classic canvas tote bag (it doesn’t get more classic than L.L. Bean’s heavyweight canvas tote bag), and this adorable phone case with beach-inspired graphics.

    Knit Turtleneck & Joggers Set

Neutral hue? Check. Natural cotton fabrication? Check. Cozy and comfortable oversized fit? Check and check!

This beige knit turtleneck and jogger pants set is Coastal Grandmother to a T.

Though this set has a slouchy, loose fit, it still looks polished thanks to its neutral color, natural fabric, and knit material. Plus, turtlenecks are a Coastal Grandma favorite; see Diane Keaton in “Something’s Gotta Give” for reference.

    Effortlessly Elegant

Though the Coastal Grandma aesthetic often features oversized and comfortable clothing, that doesn’t translate to sloppy. There is an element of elegance in Coastal Grandma outfits, and it can still include feminine pieces like dresses and skirts.

The key is to choose frocks with a classic silhouette, like this blue puff sleeve midi dress with a tiered skirt and square neckline. Its cotton poplin material adds to its breezy, summery look.

Wear it with a heart locket necklace and straw accessories, like some buckled raffia slide sandals and a woven basket bag.

For the full Coastal Grandma effect, toss a light-colored cardigan over your shoulders.

Blue & White Striped Tiered Midi Skirt

Another classic piece, this blue and white striped tiered midi skirt would fit right in at a coastal location. Its silhouette is timeless while still having a feminine charm, and the blue and white stripes add a nautical touch.

The current bestselling dresses at Free People are appropriate for a range of events — which is no surprise, since summer is the time for stacked calendars. From flouncy beach minis and everyday shifts that can be thrown over a bathing suit or sports bra, to free-flowing maxis with that signature, vintage-inspired bohemian spirit, the styles really run the gamut. But after combing through the reviews on all of them, we’ve narrowed it down to eight top-rated looks that are also dispersed by price point and should get you the most bang for your buck.

They can all be dressed up or down — so, for example, you could wear the flouncy Selkie x FP corseted mini bare, accessorized with just heels and a statement necklace, or you could layer it over a white tee with rolled sleeves and finish it off with high-tops, reveling in the ultimate ’90s moment when you hit the streets.

Summer fashion signals the arrival of broderie anglaise, white jeans and one staple that it seems Cat Deeley is a fan of too – the striped shirt, the humble blouse that can double up as a smart top or a beach cover-up. Versatility is its middle name.

Cat’s shirt is the staple reimagined; usually in summer you’ll see blue and white striped shirts on the backs of the coolest gals, but for the This Morning presenter, it’s a khaki stripe that’s in favour.

Cat Deeley with co-host Ben Shepherd on Tuesday’s This Morning

Her simple buy from Zara has thick stripes, interspersed with white, in a classic fitted style. Cat’s shirt is worn tucked into white Sosandar palazzo pants, with a pair of Steve Madden strappy sandals and a brown Mint Velvet belt.

Pack a lightweight striped shirt in your suitcase for your summer holiday, and you’ll find yourself repeat wearing it throughout your vacation. Tuck one into a pair of denim shorts for a day sightseeing, or for casual dinners and cocktails by the pool; buy an oversized shirt and you’ll be able to wear as a beach cover-up, or for throwing on over your swimsuit when its lunchtime at the all-inclusive buffet.

If you’re not jetting off, you’ll still get plenty of wear out of yours. Copy Cat and wear with white trousers or white jeans, for a smarter occasion – it stood Meghan Markle in good stead when she wore a similar outfit to Wimbledon in 2018, tucking a blue and white striped Ralph Lauren shirt into a pair of flowing white slacks.

Or of course, it makes a great stable mate for denim shorts, linen shorts or jeans and chunky sandals (my summer go-to).

The high street as always is a big supporter of the striped shirt, and I’ve found plenty that give the same look as Cat’s, with khaki, beige or brown stripes an update on the classic look for summer 2024.

We don’t subscribe to the outdated fashion rule that you can’t wear white after Labor Day. (Wear it whenever you want!) However, there is a compelling case for stocking up on white clothes for the summer months. This hue absorbs less heat than darker colors and exudes a certain lightness. Simply put, white clothes in all silhouettes look and feel amazing in the summer. One of our favorite places to scoop up white clothes across all categories, from casual T-shirts to quintessential summer dresses, is Gap. The classic American retailer is known for its high-quality pieces with just the right touch of trendiness to keep them timeless.

Ahead, we’ve rounded up 15 pieces to consider adding to your summer wardrobe. From a matching set that makes morning prep a breeze, to a maxi skirt our editor adores, and a versatile “brami” you’ll constantly reach for as the perfect base layer, these selections will define your summer style. Italian Summer Outfits

This post will show you 10 affordable Italian summer outfits, plus the cutest clothing items to pack with you for a summer trip to Italy.

    Ciao, bella!

Are you heading to Italy for vacation this summer — or just want to dress like it? If so, you’ve come to the right place!

In this vacation outfits guide, you’ll find 10 Italian summer outfits that are stylish yet practical — plus budget-friendly.

Featuring items all under $150, you won’t have to break the bank to look your best while touring the beautiful country known for its rich history, incredible architecture, amazing fashion, and delicious cuisine — to say the least!

Whether you’ll be living out your Lizzie McGuire dreams at the Trevi Fountain in Rome, eating pizza in Milan, or swimming off of the Amalfi Coast, I’ve got you covered.

Read on for outfit ideas, along with 10 clothing items under $100 that are so perfect for summer in Italy, you’ll want to order them ASAP.

    Italian Summer Outfit #1

The clothing items you bring with you on your summer trip to Italy (lucky you!) should be lightweight and versatile but still make a style impact with vibrant colors and eye-catching prints.

I love the idea of wearing some airy, embroidered shorts with a top that matches the embroidery’s coloring, like this strapless red tie-back top, along with some flat slide sandals.

Bring the look together with summery accessories like a straw tote bag, a charm necklace, and some oval sunglasses that have a retro-inspired vibe.

    Italian Summer Outfit #2

There’s something about the color red that just feels quintessentially Italian — it is one of the colors in the country’s flag, after all.

Embrace this vibrant hue with this stylish red drop waist tube mini dress. Its drop waist silhouette and A-line skirt make it appear elevated, but it’s actually an effortless piece to wear thanks to its pull-on design and 100% cotton fabrication, which makes it breezy.

This versatile dress can be worn day or night and works with sandals, sneakers, or heels.

Try styling it with some matching red cat-eye sunglasses for added flair, along with a beaded gold coin necklace set that gives you a layered jewelry look.

These raffia three-strap footbed sandals with short flatform heels are both comfortable and stylish, making them a great vacation pick.

    Italian Summer Outfit #3

If you’ll be sightseeing in a city like Rome, Milan, or Florence you’ll need a cute yet practical outfit that is suitable for plenty of walking… and hot weather. Taking in the sights under the hot summer sun can get sweaty!

Sneakers are best for days filled with walking, and luckily, sneakers are trendier than ever, so you won’t feel out of place or that you look too obviously like a tourist. (Though there’s nothing wrong with that, either!)

Adidas sneakers like Sambas, Gazelles, and Campus are some of the hottest styles of the summer and go with just about any type of outfit. I love the way these Adidas Sambas give this outfit an unexpected sporty, street-style vibe, while adding to its comfortability.

Another major trend this summer is tiered maxi skirts, and these make for a vacation must-have. The lightweight, airy fabric will keep you cool under the hot Italian sun, and look great with both simple and intricate tops, alike. You can’t go wrong with a simple black tube top, styled up with some retro-inspired slim oval sunglasses and a cute hair claw clip with a cherry design.

Complete the ensemble with a fashionable yet secure bag that is going to keep your belongings safe, because unfortunately, pick-pockets can be a concern in major cities.

This straw belt crossbody bag is a great option since it has a zipper closure and can be worn across the front of your body for added security, yet it still looks stylish and summery.

    Italian Summer Outfit #4

Nothing says summer like a pair of flowy white pants, and what better place to wear them than Italy?

This lightweight pair is 100% cotton and features a relaxed fit and elastic waist (which will surely come in handy during meals of pasta, pizza, and gelato!).

These pants are also ultra-versatile since you can wear them with plenty of other items in your suitcase.

For this look, style them with a green tie-front halter top and some woven raffia slide sandals with a low platform heel and a beachy feel, along with a matching raffia clutch bag.

Perhaps my favorite piece of all is this floral and lemon print bandana head scarf, which makes for the cutest accessory, giving off a retro Italian aesthetic (and will save you from any bad hair days). When you’re not wearing it on your head, you can tie it on the strap of your handbag or around your wrist, making it a multi-functional accessory.

A gold starfish pendant necklace will complete the look and add to its beachy feel.

    Italian Summer Outfit #5

Gingham is one of those prints that feels very “summer in Italy,” so I would be sure to pack plenty of gingham pieces, like this adorable black and white gingham print mini dress.

This dress has contrasting ruffle and bow details and can be worn during the day with flat sandals or sneakers or at night with heels.

But since Italy is filled with cobblestone streets, steep hills, and uneven pavement, I say go for these black strappy leather sandals with a short platform heel that look polished (even for nighttime wear) but will be a lot easier to walk in than heels.

Gold jewelry is another Italian must-have, so wear pieces like a chunky cuff bracelet and some statement earrings with the look.

Add in an eye-catching pop of color with a red woven shoulder bag that you easily wear with many other outfits in this post.

    Italian Summer Outfit #6

Heading out for an aperitivo or to dinner? This romantic tie-front floral print top will make you feel like you’re living la dolce vita, especially when worn with a flowy tiered maxi skirt.

By the way, this black maxi skirt has an elastic waistband which makes it that much more comfortable to wear to a delicious Italian feast!

Since the top is so intricate, all you’ll need is a delicate necklace like this dainty clover charm necklace.

This pair of black leather sandals features a contoured footbed and chic gold buckles for an elevated yet comfortable effect that makes them ideal for a European trip.

    Italian Summer Outfit #7

No summer vacation wardrobe is complete without a pair of denim shorts!

For a more casual, laid-back daytime look, wear your denim cutoff shorts with low-top sneakers and a cute top. These white Superga sneakers feature a mid-height flatform heel but are also available without.

This adorable red and white gingham print top, paired with some slim oval sunnies and a gold pendant necklace, will give you a retro-inspired look that feels quintessentially Italian.

    Italian Summer Outfit #8

Speaking of gingham, how adorable is this red gingham mini dress?

This dress features a corset-style bodice and off-the-shoulder puff sleeves for a feminine silhouette while still being super airy and great for hot weather.

Whether you wear this frock to sightsee or to enjoy a meal at a cute Italian café, you’ll look adorable in it… especially with a matching red head scarf (even if it’s just for the Instagram photo — gotta get the good vacation social media content!).

A colorful charm necklace and a straw basket tote bag are the perfect accessories for this ensemble.

Complete the look with white low-top sneakers or some comfortable, neutral-colored sandals like these Tevas, which are ideal for travel and adventures.

    Italian Summer Outfit #9

If you want to blend in with the Italian locals and wear for a super chic look while sightseeing, try this two-piece set featuring a button-front vest and matching tailored shorts. It looks ultra-polished, is hot weather-friendly, and is perfect for a stylish city destination like Milan or Florence.

This set comes in a bunch of different colors, but by opting for a neutral hue like beige, you’ll more easily be able to match these pieces with other items in your suitcase to create multiple different looks (for example, wear the shorts with a blouse and pair the vest with a silky midi skirt).

Opt for luxe-looking accessories like some gold metal oval sunglasses and black ankle-strap footbed sandals which are good for walking thanks to their cushioned footbed, but feature shiny gold hardware for a sleek effect.

A straw half-moon crossbody bag adds a summery touch to the outfit, but its faux leather detailing keeps it looking polished.

    Italian Summer Outfit #10

If you’re traveling to Italy during the summertime, you better be hitting its beautiful beaches!

I say go for a cute, colorful cover-up set to wear over your swimsuit but that’s also wearable beyond the beach.

This ribbed green shorts and button-down shirt set are made from a soft toweling material that is ideal for a beach day but can also be worn with other items in your suitcase.

Water-resistant shoes are a must, and this pair of sandals has a fashionable woven design and good traction so that you can hop on and off of boats, walk on rocky beaches, or wander around town comfortably.

Another must-have? A packable beach bag. This large woven tote bag is super lightweight and easy to fold down and pack in your suitcase, unlike structured tote bags, which are much more difficult to pack.

Finally, add in some trendy summery accessories like a pair of tinted aviator sunglasses and a sun cord necklace to bring the look together.

    Italy Summer Vacation Clothing

    Looking for more options?

Check out these adorable clothing picks that are perfect for an Italian summer vacation, all under $100.

    Printed Halter Mini Dress

The print on this halter mini dress could not be more perfect for the summer, or for a trip to Italy!

The red and white printed frock also features an open-back design and linen-blend fabric, which will help to keep you cool in the summertime heat.

    Red Corset Mini Dress

    No print? No problem.

This stunning red corset mini dress has Italian vacation written all over it and a majorly romantic aesthetic thanks to its feminine design.

With a lace-up back, corset bodice, and fit and flare silhouette, this feminine dress will make you want to twirl your way through the streets of Italy — gelato in hand, of course.

    Printed Linen Pants

As I mentioned before, linen is one of the best materials to wear on a summer vacation, especially in Italy, which is famed for its beautiful linen clothing.

These printed linen pants feature a summery design and a flowy, loose fit that makes them great for the beach or strolling around town in the evening.

Wear them with a red top to make the print pop; the red strapless tie-back top in Outfit #1 would be a good choice!

Blue Textured Fringe Top and Midi Skirt

Get ready to stun in this royal blue textured fringe top and matching midi skirt combo.

If you want to impress on a night out in Italy (and in your vacation photos), this set will surely do the trick.

This two-piece features textured fabric with fringe trim on both the top and skirt, along with a crochet medallion-like design on the waistband and neckline. Its intricate design certainly makes it worthy of a special occasion like a trip to Italy!

Plus, you can always wear the pieces with other items in your wardrobe; even a simple white tank top will still look incredible with the skirt, while denim shorts will give the top a casual spin.

    Printed Linen Blend Shorts

Linen fabric? Check. Comfy, pull-on design? Check. Insanely adorable pattern featuring waves, suns, tomatoes, fish, and vases? Check and check!

These shorts are practically a depiction of your trip to Italy, wrapped up in an effortlessly stylish design.

Wear them with a tank or tube top during the daytime and with a crop top or off-the-shoulder blouse at nighttime for a dressier vibe.

P.S. If you love this print, there is also a matching top, dress, and other items available at Abercrombie & Fitch.

Printed Woven Shirt and Mini Skirt

Boasting a fun, summery print and lightweight woven fabric, this mini skirt and matching button-down shirt couldn’t be cuter for an Italian summer vacation.

It’s no secret that I love matching sets for their versatility and how easy they make it to put outfits together, and this set is no different.

Wear the pieces together for a playful, eye-catching look (also as a swim cover-up), or wear them separately with other items you pack, too.

    Printed Linen Mini Dress

One theme you’ll see all along the Amalfi Coast (and on Capri, in particular) is lemons. Lemon prints on dishes, vases, scarves, you name it — and I say, why not embrace this Italian signature in the form of a lemon print mini dress?

This fabulous frock features a linen-blend material, making it lightweight and perfect for hot summer weather.

    Satin Cut-Out Printed Maxi Dress

I couldn’t *not* include this satin cut-out maxi dress featuring an “Italia” print all over.

With Italian tiles, striped beach umbrellas, and the word “Italia” written on it, this standout dress sums up a summer in Italy perfectly.

Its satin material gives it a more luxe, elevated effect, making it ideal for a special night out in Italy, like for a fancy dinner or a scenic cocktail hour. Plus, its side cut-out will let you show off your Italian summer tan!

    Italia Stamp Graphic Print T-Shirt

Consider this graphic print Italia stamp t-shirt a wearable souvenir.

Featuring an adorable image of an Italian stamp with a drawing of a classic Italian summer scene, this baby tee is perfectly cropped and will look adorable long after your trip comes to an end, paired with denim shorts, jeans, or maxi skirts.

Future Collective with Jeneé Naylor Ruffle Ankle Length Dress ($40)

“The Red Floral Ruffle Ankle Length Dress is one of my favorites from this collection — it just screams vacation mode. This dress is made for dancing, especially with its side slit. The ruffles add dimension and movement, which is such a fun flair — I feel like I’m on ‘Dancing With the Stars.’

I am 5’1″, and this dress hits right below the ankle, so it’s better to wear heels with it if you want it off the ground. It also has adjustable straps, but you won’t be able to fully tighten the strap that has the ruffle detailing. It’s such a vibrant and bold summer dress I’ll be wearing for brunches, dinners, vacations, and salsa nights.” — Anvita Reddy, assistant editor, Commerce

This Free People Set Is My Go-To Summer Vacation Outfit

    [ad_1]

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

One of my favorite things about going on vacation is planning my outfits (and yes, I do search for city-specific outfit inspiration on Pinterest). What I don’t love is then having to cut down my clothing options so they fit in a single carry-on bag. When you have limited space in your suitcase, there’s no room to bring pieces you aren’t sure about. Every ‘fit has to work — and that’s when a matching set can come in handy. Co-ords automatically look good together, and can help take the stress out of packing by guaranteeing there’s no space wasted on clothing items you’re uncertain about.

So when I was packing for an upcoming trip, I wanted to reach for the sets I already had in my closet. But most of the ones I owned were on the casual side — which is why Free People’s Donnie Short Set ($78) caught my eye when I was browsing the brand’s site. The two pieces — a flowy baby doll top with puff sleeves and matching bottoms — were stylish and on-trend, but also looked like something I could easily dress up or down depending on the occasion.

    Main Image

Having worn the set a few times before my trip, I’m sharing my honest thoughts on Free People’s Donnie Short Set — and why it may be worth adding to your summer outfit lineup, too.

What I Like About the Free People Donnie Short Set

When it comes to summer and travel-friendly clothes, I always look for cotton or linen fabrics that’ll keep me cool on hot days — and the Donnie Short Set immediately got some points when I saw it was made of cotton. It feels lightweight and breezy on, but isn’t thin or see-through like other cotton sets I’ve tried before. The two pieces also have some stretch in the bust and waistband of the shorts that make them comfortable for all-day wear, which is important if you’re doing a lot of walking, sitting, or indulging (I’d planned on doing all three).

Another thing I like about this Free People set is how effortlessly chic it is. The baby doll top’s almost empire waistline, puff sleeves, and bow-tie back instantly make me feel like I’m in my regency core era, à la “Bridgerton” — but the matching shorts bring the look back to the 21st century.

Finally, for my trip, I loved how easy it was to dress the cotton set up or down. I could easily style it with a pair of wedges and a statement bag or dress it down with a pair of sneakers. Another plus was that each item made for a great basic on its own. I could get away with wearing the summer whites together or separately with other pieces in my closet. The versatility of this set is ultimately what really won me over — and for that reason, I have no doubt that I’ll be wearing this on repeat both at home and on vacation.

What to Know Before Buying the Free People Donnie Short Set

I like how both pieces fit, but did decide to size down in this set because it’s flowy and has a good amount of stretch. I’m between sizes — medium and large — and found the top and bottom to be pretty roomy even after I went down to a medium. I will also note that it’s tricky to wear a bra with this shirt if you don’t want it to show through the cutout. I got around this with a sticky bra, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re thinking of buying the set.

Who the Free People Donnie Short Set Is Best For

This matching set is best for anyone who is looking for a comfortable and stylish outfit for summer. The two pieces are very easy to mix and match with other basics — so they’d also work great for anyone looking to expand their summer wardrobe.

Additional Details About the Free People Donnie Short Set

    • The Donnie Short Set is made of 100 percent cotton.
    • The set comes in 3 colors — Barbados Cherry, Optic White, and Brownie.
    • It is available in sizes XS-XL.

  • I’ll Be Living in These Free People Denim Shorts 24/7 This Summer

I’ll Be Living in These Free People Denim Shorts 24/7 This Summer

    [ad_1]

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

Denim shorts feel so synonymous with summer, which is precisely why I start bulk-buying the style whenever temperatures begin to heat up. Sure, I love opting for a flowy maxi dress or comfy romper on occasion, but when it comes to building out my dream summer uniform — aka what I can reliably wear for a handful of different dress codes or destinations (it is vacation season, after all) — denim shorts are always at the center of my everyday looks.

With so many pairs already in my closet, this season I sought out to find a style with a little more edge — ideally something that’s trendy yet timeless, breathable yet a touch more formal, and comfortable yet still flattering. Given Free People’s wide assortment of denim, I turned to the brand looking for some extra product inspiration and immediately fell in love with these Free People We the Free Boomerang Long Shorts ($98) — which, to no one’s surprise, I’ve basically been wearing on repeat everyday.

    Main Image

Ahead, I break down what it is that makes these Free People denim shorts so great — aside from their undeniably cool design (which is already a given). From the pair’s lengthy silhouette to its deep side pockets and flattering fit, I’d argue that no summer wardrobe is complete without having this pair incorporated into it.

What I Like About These Free People Denim Shorts

As someone with an hourglass shape, I’m always weary of purchasing nonstretch denim pieces — the combination of wide hips and a smaller waist usually requires bottoms with a little extra wiggle room and stretch. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortability provided by these Free People denim shorts, which are made from a 100 percent cotton material. Despite their nonstretch design, the shorts are breathable and easy to move around, with a waist-hugging fit that accentuates my curves and cultivates a more tailored look.

The might-wash coloring is a bit easier to style than traditional dark-wash denim, giving me the freedom to dress them up or down accordingly; during the day I can throw them on with a cropped white T-shirt, striped button-down top, and everyday sneakers for something sporty and fun. Then come nighttime, I can pair these long shorts with a black corset top, oversize blazer, and thong sandals for a dinner date or club rendezvous.

I also appreciate the unique silhouette of these denim shorts, which makes them feel one-of-a-kind and unlike anything else in my closet. The Free People shorts have a lengthier, Bermuda-like design that extends past my mid-thigh so that the hem hovers just above my knees. Booty shorts are a little too cheeky to fit within my style wheelhouse, so I appreciate the extra coverage provided by these long denim shorts. Crisscross jeans are also so trendy among celebrities at the moment — Taylor Swift and Hailey Bieber have both sported similar denim styles — and I like that these jean shorts give me a way into the trend, while still looking classic enough to wear long after the fad dissipates.

    What’s Worth Noting

As noted on Free People’s website and in several shopper reviews, these nonstretch shorts run small, so it’s recommended that you size up in order to ensure a more comfortable fit. This style also boasts a mid-rise design that’s made to sit between the hips and belly button, but with its criss-cross waistline, some shoppers have reported that it has a tendency to fit awkwardly depending on your body type and the size you order; if you have a curvier shape, the short’s asymmetrical waistline might not look as distinct compared to those with a straighter figure. Make sure you reference Free People’s size guide prior to ordering the pair.

Who Are These Free People Denim Shorts Best For?

If you (like me) are a denim enthusiast looking to swap out your jeans in favor of a more summer-friendly style, I can’t recommend these shorts enough. They’re unique, functional, and easy to dress up or down depending on the occasion. Plus, they blend two styles into one with a lengthier, Bermuda-like silhouette and denim composition. Whether you’re packing them for an upcoming vacation, wearing them casually around the house, or donning them beachside, you’ll be able to get extended wear out of the shorts, and feel comfortable wearing them in even the warmest temperatures.

Where Are These Denim Shorts Available to Shop?

These shorts are available to shop exclusively at Free People.

    Additional Details

    • These Free People denim shorts are available in US women’s sizes 24-33.
    • They come in four different colorways, including a snowcone white, lightwash blue, and charcoal nightshift (my shade of choice).
    • Since they’re made from a 100 percent cotton material, it’s recommended that you machine wash them cold with similar colors; this will help to preserve the short’s quality longer.
