  • Reformation’s Linen Is Apparently Epic—Here’s My Honest Review

Reformation’s Linen Is Apparently Epic—Here’s My Honest Review

It’s rare for a brand to be known for everything it makes. Oftentimes, they’ll be famous for a specific thing, from Levi’s and denim to Bottega Veneta and braided leather goods. For Reformation, the area that really got the brand to the top was its linen, whether it’s crafted into a dress, a set, or separates. Just take a look at the brand’s best-sellers page if you want proof. A majority of the items listed there are crafted out of the summertime-favorite fabric. But since I’ve never been one to blindly accept the word of the masses, I decided that it was time to finally put Reformation’s linen offering to the test and see if all that hype is justified.

To do so, I took home four of the brand’s most talked-about linen pieces—the Will Oversized Linen Shirt, the Mason Linen Shorts, the Tagliatelle Linen Dress, and the Robbie Linen Two-Piece Set—and tried them on, actually feeling the material, physically experimenting with the fit, and experiencing IRL the silhouettes. And of course, I couldn’t keep my findings to myself. Below, read my honest review of Reformation’s linen.

  • I Spend My Summer Weekends Escaping the City, and These 35 Items Come With Me

I Spend My Summer Weekends Escaping the City, and These 35 Items Come With Me

As summer comes to a close, I realize I spent most of my weekends away from New York City, which is out of the norm as I usually love a good summer weekend in the city. Things have slowed down, the city empties out a bit, and it’s the perfect time to do all of those New York things you’ve put off doing, like planning a day in Central Park with friends or finally trying that restaurant in Brooklyn you’ve always wanted to go to. But this summer, I packed my bags and headed to the Hamptons almost every weekend in July.

I spent my weekends eating delicious food at the quaint yet ultra-chic Marram Resort in Montauk, followed by a day split between the beach and the pool (the hotel’s pool overlooks the beach). Then I’d lather up with all the Le Labo products stocked in the hotel room before scurrying off to dinner at Scarpetta Beach at Gurneys Resorts. I went to my first music festival in West Hampton and danced with my friends all night at the Surf Lodge. I have to say, my summer of weekends away hasn’t been too shabby.

Through all my chic weekend getaways, there were 35 items I made sure to take with me every time. From my holy-grail concealer to dresses that took me from brunch to a beach bonfire, there are certain items I can’t travel without, and this summer was a testament to that.

Keep scrolling to see the 35 items I’d never go anywhere without.

  • I Have a New Favorite White T-Shirt, Sandals, and Denim Shorts—Here’s the Tea

I Have a New Favorite White T-Shirt, Sandals, and Denim Shorts—Here’s the Tea

During the summer, I tend to ignore much of what’s in my closet in favor of a T-shirt, shorts, and sandals. (For context, I live in the South and work from home, so this is a perfectly acceptable uniform.) Year after year, all of the time spent in these summery basics has led me to try and find the perfect version of each. This summer, I think I finally have.

The tee, shorts, and sandals I’m detailing below aren’t all new, per se, but they may be new to you, and I’m never one to gatekeep when I love something, so let’s discuss these great warm-weather basics while we’re in the midst of a blazing hot summer.

Scroll on to shop the perfect white tee I waited way too long to try, the most comfortable and best-fitting denim shorts I’ve ever owned, and the sandals I’ve loved so much that I had to get them in two other colors.

  • 31 Chic Flat Sandals I’m Eyeing From Nordstrom for Peak Summer Vibes

31 Chic Flat Sandals I’m Eyeing From Nordstrom for Peak Summer Vibes

We’ve officially reached peak summer, and I am fully leaning into the OOO mindset. This is the time of year it seems we’ve all collectively agreed to take things a bit slower, relax, and enjoy ourselves—and that extends to our wardrobes. Summer style is all about effortless dressing, which means my heels are being temporarily benched until September. I’m giving my feet some much-needed time off.

Since flat sandals are all I wear during the summer, I’ve been looking for chic options that can be dressed up or down. I tend to gravitate toward sandals with a polished twist to keep me feeling comfortable yet put together. I prefer a versatile pair that works just as well with denim shorts as they do with sundresses. While scanning all my usual retailers, I noticed that Nordstrom’s sandal selection is particularly good right now. From pops of texture to rich leather and gold metal accents, they have elevated options at virtually every price point. Below I’m highlighting the 31 best flat sandals at Nordstrom to last us all summer.

  • I Won’t Be Caught Dead Wearing Denim in The Summer—20 Outfits I’d Try Instead

I Won’t Be Caught Dead Wearing Denim in The Summer—20 Outfits I’d Try Instead

Controversial take for you… denim is the worst thing you can wear in the summer. Don’t get me wrong; it’s essential to any wardrobe. But when it’s hot outside, the last thing you want to wear is anything ultra-form-fitting (sorry, skinny jeans). After all, who’s clamoring to have beads of sweat roll down their legs because they’re squeezed into a pair of jeans like a sausage? If that makes you happy, I love that for you. Personally, though, there’s nothing more hellish than walking around New York City’s humid streets in denim.

And I’m guessing that if you clicked on this article, you, too, share these sentiments. With record-breaking heatwaves worldwide, choosing what to wear isn’t just a matter of personal preferences but physical safety. Heat exhaustion is no joke, and while there are other things you can do to stay safe, a simple way to mitigate risks is through your clothing. You not only want to choose pieces made from lightweight materials but avoid denser textiles that trap heat—looking at you, denim.

So what can one wear when it’s basically an oven outside? In an effort to serve humanity (or at least myself), I set out in search of styling alternatives to wearing denim. After hours of image research, I found 20 summer outfit ideas without jeans that will keep you looking stylish without breaking a sweat. Plus, I shopped out the key pieces you’ll need to create the looks at home.

No, You Can’t Be French, But You Can Buy the 17 Summer Items All Parisians Love

Be real: how many times have you been scrolling through social media and thought,  “Is everyone in Paris except for me?” The FOMO is real, especially when we’re bombarded with TikToks of all the girlies frolicking through Europe for their summer vacations. And it’s not just tourists that can trigger a twinge of wanderlust (and occasional jealousy if we’re honest). One can’t argue that Parisians do every aspect of summer better—from planning a picturesque holiday by the beach to wearing ultra-chic summer outfits. They’ve got us beat.

But before you give up all hope, there’s a more affordable solution to getting your French fix without booking a flight—ahem, it’s lying in your closet. You don’t have to be living or traveling in France to channel the vibes; you merely need a solid arsenal of summer staples. Some items are so synonymous with French style that they can make anyone feel like they’re a native Parisian (even if they’re not).

So which summer items can do just that? In search of that answer, I combed through hundreds of outfit ideas from our favorite fashion influencers to identify the essential pillars of French style. Ahead, you’ll find a list of 17 basics that Parisians rely on throughout the summer with shopping recommendations. While you don’t need every item, incorporating any number of these staples into your wardrobe can make you feel like you’re on “la fête” without even boarding a plane.

  • I Tried This Editor-Approved Sandal for Summer—These 3 Looks Proved Their Worth

I Tried This Editor-Approved Sandal for Summer—These 3 Looks Proved Their Worth

If we’re talking footwear trends, there seems to be one brand with the most staying power: the everlasting Birkenstock. The brand has taken the fashion set and celebrities by storm everywhere from Stockholm to Los Angeles. Chances are you already know, love, and own a pair, but since I’m in the business of trend reporting, I have a new style that needs your attention. The Arizona Big Buckle Teddy has just landed at Zappos, and it’s the cozy, comfortable, and stylish shoe of my dreams.

I love to see the ways in which my colleagues style their Birkenstocks, so I reached out to editor Anna LaPlaca for her spin on this new style. The result: three chic, on-the-go looks that she wore all over New York City. “I’ve been wearing Birkenstock slides every summer for at least the last 10 years,” she tells me. “My commitment to the comfortable shoes has hardly wavered, and I always keep them around as an easy option that doesn’t skimp on the cool factor.” The outfits Anna put together prove that this shoe is one of the most versatile of the summer. • Massimo Dutti’s Summer Drop Looks Too Good to Be True, so I Test-Drove It IRL

Massimo Dutti’s Summer Drop Looks Too Good to Be True, so I Test-Drove It IRL

No matter how good the photos are, detailed the descriptions are, or visually appealing the website interface is, shopping online will never ever compare to the simple act of trying something on. Why do you think the pandemic led to so many outlandish purchases? No one could try anything on first, and everyone was too exhausted to return anything. Unfortunately, depending on where you’re shopping from, you might not have the privilege of living in close proximity to every store you’re eyeing something from. That’s where I come in.

Exhibit number one is Massimo Dutti, Zara’s elevated older-sister brand that specializes in clothing, shoes, and accessories for people who want their clothes to do the work for them by making them look chic without any effort. Think linen separates, satin slips, tweed outerwear, and flats and heels that look and feel like designer but rarely cost more than $200. This season’s offering is one of the Spanish retailer’s all-time best.

Without a store in the U.S., though, you’ll have to either cross over into Montréal or Toronto in Canada or board a flight to Europe in order to test its pieces in real life. Well, you can do that or follow my lead by ordering a monstrous haul of the brand’s new summer pieces to try on at home. Below, check out all nine of the pieces I ordered from Massimo Dutti’s summer drop and get the lowdown on the Zara-owned brand that all the best dressers in Europe, from Paris to Madrid, rely on.

  • The Anti–Short Shorts Trend That Every Cool Person I Follow Is Wearing

The Anti–Short Shorts Trend That Every Cool Person I Follow Is Wearing

As much fun as a pair of hot pants can be (for the right occasion, that is), they’re not the most practical summer bottoms. Shockingly short and necessary to adjust every few seconds, the buzzy celebrity trend has its pitfalls, which is probably why their opposite has made a run for fashion’s top spot in the shorts department. And even with all of the bad publicity that Midwestern dads (I can say that because my dad is one) have gotten for Bermuda shorts, the very appropriate hot-pants alternative has managed to campaign their way into every fashion girl’s warm-weather wardrobe.

All the proof you need that Bermuda shorts are having a moment exists on my Instagram feed, which I’ve combed through meticulously and recreated below. Showcasing the best styles to go with and subsequently, what to wear with them once you pick a pair of your own, let the forthcoming selection serve as your primary guide to the trend. • You Book the Flight, and I’ll Pack Your Bags—20 Vacay Items You Need This Summer

You Book the Flight, and I’ll Pack Your Bags—20 Vacay Items You Need This Summer

Not to brag, but I’ve become quite the expert packer. My friends and family would argue that I severely under-pack, but I need you to trust my process for a minute. There’s nothing more annoying than lugging around a heavy suitcase on a summer vacation, so being strategic about its contents is key. I always go for versatile, easy-to-throw-on dresses, neutral footwear, and beauty products that add major glow and take up minimal space. Being able to mix and match accessories is a nonnegotiable for me, so items like the woven tote and Ray-Ban sunglasses below are the move. Prepping for your summer travels really is as easy as shopping the following 20 items from Macy’s—it’s the perfect one-stop shop for everything on your packing list. • I’m A Swimsuit Designer—Here’s What I’m Packing For My European Summer Vacation

I’m A Swimsuit Designer—Here’s What I’m Packing For My European Summer Vacation

Every summer, it seems like those at the helm of the fashion industry pack their bags, automate their Out Of Office reminders, and set off to Europe— specifically, on the shores of the swankiest beach clubs and trendiest cities. What city you’re spending a month in is nearly as important as what you’re wearing— an undisputed fact insiders Adrien Bettio and Hyla Nayeri take as gospel. 437, their self-founded Canadian-based swimwear, activewear, and resortwear line, has been seen on celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Sydney Sweeney, Megan Thee Stallion, and Emma Chamberlain, just to name a few. For two childhood best friends without any formal design training, the journey from building their brand from their bedrooms to dominating social media came down to more than just well-thought business designs and thoughtful designs: it’s all about connecting with their community.

We’re a small, self-funded brand with no investors which allows us a lot of flexibility to create what we’re feeling and loving in the moment,” Nayeri told Who What Wear. “Adrien and I are literally the 437 demographic so when we design pieces, we can take the phase of life we’re at into consideration and it really makes us feel good about the pieces we’re creating.”

As a fashion editor who can show up to dozens of meetings and brand showings a week, it can all become a blur at times. But when meeting Nayeri at 437’s first New York City previews, I was struck by how the brand’s elevated, cool-girl vibe extended to far beyond it’s clothing offerings. Just like it was explained to me, the 437 customer isn’t just looking for the perfect bikini or the best one-piece workout unitard for gym-selfies in: she’s looking for something that naturally, seamlessly blends into her everyday life. Just like Bettio says: “she just gets it.”

Although 437 has a steady stream of drops throughout the year, there’s no time quite like the summer time: the brand unequivocally shines when the weather gets warmer. Just like the majority of their on-the-go consumers, Bettio and Nayeri are spending their summers traveling. In between opening their new Los Angeles and Toronto showrooms, the duo are heading to trending cities Rio and Sardinia,, respectively. Naturally, as swimsuit designers who spend their years longing for summer, there’s a full-proof way to pack all of the essentials. Below, scroll through all of their essentials and discover all what 437 is about.

  • The One Color That Will Make All Your Summer Outfits Look So Expensive

The One Color That Will Make All Your Summer Outfits Look So Expensive

Ah, summertime. What would we do without you? It’s arguably the best part of the year because of the freedom it gives us to explore—even if it’s just a little weekend away or dressing scantily for no reason. You can see how it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of warmer temperatures, but there was a turning point in midsummer when my desire to not overheat outweighed any fantasies about frolicking around in the biggest trends of the moment. When it’s sweltering hot, you need a fuss-free way to ensure you look cool no matter the temperature. For the fashion set, that hack is wearing one specific color: white.

Call it cliché, but when it comes to crafting the perfect summer outfit for a hot summer day, this color never fumbles. Sure, there are so many noteworthy color trends, but none of them embody “rich-mom” energy quite like this hue. That’s not just because it’s tough to keep white clothes clean (you have to have a great dry-cleaner on speed dial) but also because white can make the more basic items (think button-downs, trousers, and maxi dresses) feel exuberant. But don’t just take my word for it. Ahead, I’ve rounded up 15 white summer outfit ideas and shopped out the key pieces to re-create the looks for yourself. Whether you’re a minimalist or maximalist, these outfits will convince you that this color is easy to wear and will have you feeling yourself for the rest of the season.

  • The Best (and Worst) Fabrics to Wear During Summer

The Best (and Worst) Fabrics to Wear During Summer

    Nylon

As a fully synthetic material, nylon is the opposite of breathable. Because it’s designed to repel water and has a low level of absorption, clothing made from nylon tends to trap heat and sweat against the skin.

    Acrylic

Much like nylon, acrylic is not a natural fabric. While it often shows up in summer dresses and tops, the material can often be hot and abrasive, making it one of the worst summer fabrics.

    Polyester

Another summer fabric that’s best avoided is polyester. This common fabric is travel-friendly and wrinkle-resistant, but it also resists moisture, making it less than ideal for hot summer weather.

    Vinyl

The slick wet look of vinyl has its place and time, but with a synthetic profile that’s also waterproof and ideal for upholstery, it’s not exactly a great choice for summer clothing. To get your vinyl fix, opt for vinyl shoes and accessories.

    Fleece

It may come as little surprise that a material made to keep the body warm is a poor choice among summer fabrics. While certain variations of wool are okay (articles specifically labeled “summer wool” are a good start), fleece is actually derived from polyester, so it comes with the same issues of trapping moisture and reducing natural ventilation.

  • I Grew Up On The Water—36 Well-Priced Swimsuits I Highly Recommend

I Grew Up On The Water—36 Well-Priced Swimsuits I Highly Recommend

As an actual Miami native (and one who’s visited frequently since moving to New York City), I know a thing or two about good swimwear. I grew up on the water, where heading to the beach was basically like clockwork. After nearly 22 summers going to the beach for hours on end, I’m practically a swimwear expert. Naturally, there’s only one cardinal rule I swear by when shopping for bikini sets and one-pieces: if they’re too expensive, they’re not worth it.

Sure—a luxury, splurge-worthy piece enters my swimwear drawer every once and a while, but for the most part, the swimsuits I wear almost daily while living in Miami were well under-$100. When you’re logging hundreds of hours in the sand and salt-water, there’s no use in dropping thousands on five sets you’ll wear every week (and subsequently, end up throwing out due to fading and wear-and-tear).

If you won’t take my word for it, take my group-chats: all of my friends living on the shoreline can agree: sometimes, the best bikinis are the ones that don’t cost an arm and a leg. Below, scroll for the best under-$100 bikini tops, sets, and one-pieces I can’t get enough of this summer. Into the beach bag they go!

  • The Anti-Trend That Women in Paris, London, and Rome Wear on Repeat in Summer

The Anti-Trend That Women in Paris, London, and Rome Wear on Repeat in Summer

In my mind, trends are like waves in the ocean—unpredictable, sometimes turbulent, and constantly shifting. When you’re wading through it all, you have to proactively choose not to ride every trendy wave and instead return to solid ground (aka those stable staples). That’s an even more relevant sentiment during the summertime because practicality always wins out when push comes to shove. After all, who wants to be bothered by picking a cute outfit when it’s boiling outside? Or who can buy into every summer trend when you’re also trying to book a flight?

In short, having staples you can rely on to get you through the summer is a godsend. But that’s not limited to clothing; numerous accessories lend themselves to being summer essentials. One of the prime examples? Straw accessories. No matter what’s happening on the runway, you can always find women wearing various straw accessories, including bags, hats, shoes, belts, and more.

Accessories made from various woven materials (i.e., straw, palm leaves, and raffia) have moved past being a seasonal trend and have cemented themselves as a staple in their own right. To show the staying power of straw accessories, I’ve combed through hundreds of outfit ideas to identify three ways the fashion set has embraced them. Plus, I’ve rounded up the best straw, raffia, and woven accessories to shop online. If you’ve been looking for that item that can be your anchor every summer, you’ll want to keep scrolling.

  • Fact: Every Summer Look That Screams “Old Money” Includes This One Ingredient

Fact: Every Summer Look That Screams “Old Money” Includes This One Ingredient

Have you ever looked at someone on the street or on social media and wondered, “How do they always look so polished?” Some may attribute others’ enigma to having that je ne sais quoi or a stacked bank account that allows them to buy designer things. But the genuinely stylish people know that the secret ingredient to always looking good comes back to the staples. An arsenal of great basics can distinguish between looking busted or like a walking bank account. Whether you choose to spend thousands of dollars or under $100, the right foundational pieces can make you look (and feel) like a million dollars.

Of course, there are numerous staples that one can turn to give off “quiet luxury” vibes—from linen trousers to crochet pieces, the list goes on. But there’s one that stands out as an unsung ingredient: white skirts. During the summertime, there’s no better piece to rely upon to serve old money energy than a white skirt.

Don’t believe me? In an effort to show the value this staple can bring you, I’ve done a deep dive into how to wear a white skirt. Ahead, you’ll find 19 white skirt outfit ideas to wear during the summer (and beyond). Plus, I’ve shopped out some of the best white skirts to shop online right now. Fair warning: these outfit formulas look so decadent that they may cause onlookers to say, “Yes, chef.”

  • The *One* Summer Pant Trend French and Italian Women Swear By

The *One* Summer Pant Trend French and Italian Women Swear By

If you’re simultaneously obsessed with the latest micro-trends and too intimidated to test them out, you’ve come to the right place. This is Ways to Wear, a monthly series where editor Eliza Huber offers a dose of outfit inspiration centered around current trends that feel intriguing yet overwhelming at the same time. Consider it your guide to actually wearing the coolest items of the moment, no matter how puzzling they might appear at first.

If I had to pinpoint one item on my Instagram feed that I’ve spotted the most thus far this summer, I’d name white trousers without a second of hesitation. For reference, the people I follow are primarily involved in the fashion world or the industries surrounding it and mostly live in Europe—specifically France and Italy. Their outfits are, therefore, quintessentially French and Italian, and in the summer, that means they wear low-key yet dangerously chic ensembles that, nine times out of 10, involve white pants.

Despite how laissez-faire their looks appear online, they tend to be harder to re-create than you expect. It’s probably because of that whole je ne sais quoi thing that comes naturally to people born there but not so much for those who aren’t. Driven by my own frustration, I decided to put my own white-trouser selection to the test, using my skills in the styling department as well as my Instagram-induced knowledge of French and Italian fashion. The result? Seven summer outfits that are centered around the warm-weather bottoms that would fit right into either country between the months of June and August. Below, see how I did and shop the pant trend that French and Italian women swear by during the summer months.

In our Ask a Stylist series, we’re tapping a new expert each month to weigh in with all of their style insights. Return for a professional’s perspective on what to know in fashion.

I have spent far too many mornings staring into the void of my closet convinced I have nothing to wear—a scenario oh so familiar, right? Snapping a photo to my bestie or quickly scrolling through IG can help solve an outfit crisis, but sometimes you need to call in the experts. In this case, I’m talking about Stitch Fix’s team of personal stylists. I was fully under the impression that stylists were strictly for celebs, so when I first heard about Stitch Fix, I was immediately intrigued. All you have to do is fill out a quick online quiz about your personal style, and your stylists gets to work selecting your “Fix” of must-have items that will revamp your wardrobe. In the interest of spreading the word, I tasked our VP of influencer marketing and busy mom of two, Rachel Zeilic, to try it for herself. If you’re in an outfit rut, I suggest you keep scrolling to get some inspiration and try this service for yourself.
