Luckily, hair accessories are making a major comeback on and off the runways. Sunnie Brook, a celeb hairstylist that has worked with clients including Elizabeth Moss, Ashley Park, and Rita Ora, gave me the scoop on which ones are trending. “We are seeing luxury brands expand into the hair accessory category,” Brook begins. “Hair accessories are a quick and cool way to individualize any simple hairstyle and take it to the next level.”
According to Brook, black leather headbands, plaid fabric headbands, jeweled headbands, oversize bows, and Y2K stretch combs are all hair accessories to look out for. “We are going to see claw clips slowing fading out [in addition to] butterfly clips, metal barrettes clips, skinny headbands, rhinestone word,” she says. Tights weather is well underway, whether or not we’d like to admit it. Although we love how black tights give us the ability to wear all our favorite dresses through the harsh winter, they should hardly be an afterthought when putting together an outfit. Since we’re pretty sure you know how to keep your tights looking sleek and stylish in a winter outfit, there are a few ways to make the classic tights-and-dress combo feel fresh.
While we’re all used to putting on tights when we wear our short party dresses out all through the winter, opting for a longer midi dress is another fresh option. For a cool layered look, add a chic overcoat, and for some texture, opt for subtly patterned tights. Sweater dresses, patterned dresses, and shirt dresses are all good options to add interest. Ahead, scroll through to see the coolest ways to wear black tights with all your dresses through the colder months.
If there is one thing that I am an expert in, it is clothes for a night out or a party. I’m a libra, so naturally, I’m a social butterfly. It’s very rare I RSVP “not attending” to a party, a dinner, or an event. To me, any invite is an opportunity for me to bust out a killer outfit, and I’m not the type to pass on a fashion opportunity. There isn’t some special science to getting great going-out pieces. What you want to do is find clothes that not only make you feel sexy, confident, and powerful but also excite you and are fun.
After all, the whole point of going out is to have a good time. You may as well look like it. This doesn’t mean you have to go full-on party clothes with sequins, short hemlines, and loud pieces (even though if you take a look at my Instagram, it’s overwhelmingly apparent that I love all three of those things). You also don’t have to break the bank. Right now, Nordstrom is having its winter sale, and I had to do a deep dive through the sale to find the best of the best when it comes to going-out clothes. On my deep dive, I was looking for shoes to dance the night away in, fun party dresses, jeans that are chic enough to be dressed up for nighttime, and tops that I’m sure are going to be crowd pleasers.

For the second season running, Tory Burch’s New York Fashion Week show has been one of if not *the* most talked-about of all. Burch’s S/S 23 collection shocked attendees who thought they knew the Tory Burch look, with its unique color and fabric pairings, unexpected styling, and hyper-elevated overall aesthetic. For F/W 23, the buzz around NYFW was all about whether or not her next offering would live up to the hype created six months prior. And now that we’ve all had time to ruminate on all 36 looks, the results are in. She not only succeeded in meeting our high expectations; she exceeded them.
Though I could write an entire dissertation about the strength of Burch’s fall collection, I’ve decided to instead keep things short and sweet by zeroing in on one item included in almost every look that had my fellow editors and I heading straight for the Nordstrom app to get in on the trend. If you don’t already know, I’m talking about fishnet tights, which Burch styled with flats, heels, and boots throughout the show. Once considered anti-chic in fashion circles, the holy hosiery is officially back in our good graces. And after scrolling through Nordstrom, I found the perfect $15 pair to welcome fishnets back into my wardrobe.
Scroll down to shop the micro-trend, and see how Burch styled it in her latest show.
Testing out new trends doesn’t have to so complicated. Since jeans are the one thing that we all live in on a daily basis, there’s no easier way to introduce a new trend into your wardrobe than by wearing it with some of your favorite good old denim. Not all of the spring 2023 trends on deck this season are tailor-made for wearing with jeans, but it just so happens that the seven we’re talking about here are.
Below, you’ll uncover some of the trends we’re gravitating towards this end of winter and spring and sharing the denim we’re teaming with them to creat fresh and forward looks. As a preview, there’s everything from cool leather picks to elevated basics coming your way.
Keep scrolling to find a smattering of style references, complete with a digest of the items we think work flawlessly with classic jeans. Oh, and if you are in fact shopping at the moment, there are also inspired items sprinkled throughout.
Fashion month kicked off in New York last week for the F/W 23 collections. While there is much to discuss about the trends and standout looks at the runway shows, the street style scene always provides just as much inspiration as fashion insiders interpret the latest pieces and styling ideas into their personal wardrobes.
Ahead of New York Fashion Week, I asked industry experts to share their fashion month shopping list and the items they were planning to wear to this season, and many of their picks predicted the street style trends that have been unfolding—including everything from maxi coats to punchy red accessories. But there is much more we’re starting to see as fashion month starts. Here, see six standout trends from New York Fashion Week we spotted on the most stylish attendees, and shop our edit of pieces to integrate them into your wardrobe.
In reference to denim categories, skinny jeans basically fall into the “classics” section. They’re no-fail and still a go-to for many fashion people. That said, in terms of other trending denim silhouettes, the relaxed style (skewing wide-leg) is the cut du jour for many. In fact, we recently shared the shoe trends style setters are wearing with this anti-skinny-jeans trend. And next up, we thought we’d highlight the basics that are front-runners paired with relaxed jeans.
Given that this denim trend essentially falls into that elevated-basics category, so many basics can team flawlessly with them. But there are a few elevated styles that look particularly chic with wide-leg denim.
Keep scrolling to check out the best trend-forward basics to wear with relaxed jeans to create effortless looks.
The most important thing to consider when investing in a designer bag is to know the purpose it will have in your life. Do you prefer an everyday carryall? Then maybe the Sac de Jour is for you. If you’re one to throw your bag around and are a bit rougher, then you should probably steer toward the Sac de Jour duffle because it has a zip closure, organizational pockets, and canvas lining.
If you are one to keep your bag organized without the help of added pockets and compartments but need something more spacious to fit a laptop and gym clothes, then maybe the Shopping Tote is right for you. If you’re somebody who likes to show off for a night out, then consider the Classic Monogram Quilted Leather Shoulder Bag, the Loulou, or the Sunset Bag (which is most similar to the wallet on a chain). These differ slightly in depth and style, but they are all perfect for any night out.
If you’re still feeling overwhelmed with options, visit a store and bring everything you’d like to fit inside it. Make sure your accouterments fit comfortably with room to grow, just in case.
As someone who lives in the South and works from home full-time, I have pretty good reason to maintain a primarily casual wardrobe. Day to day, I typically wear jeans and sneakers and things made of knit fabrics. And although I love fashion, when I review the runways each season, a lot that I come across wouldn’t really mesh with my own lifestyle.
Following the ultra-casual era that the pandemic forced all of us into, designers have embraced themes and trends in fashion that are geared toward going out and returning to the office. The urge to wear something besides sweatpants now that life is basically back to normal makes perfect sense to me. But that doesn’t mean I suddenly have reasons to wear head-to-toe sequins, and perhaps some of you can relate.
Accordingly, I combed through the S/S 23 runways and found a handful of trends that definitely don’t fit into my casual aesthetic (but that doesn’t mean that I don’t love them). There are also plenty that do fit. So scroll on to shop those and find out which fancy trends I’m passing on this season.
Four seasons with four ever-changing sets of style trends can threaten to burn a hole in even the savviest shopper’s pocket. Well, fear not, because you have it on good authority (from, well, us) that this spring’s wardrobe reshuffle needn’t take more than nine carefully picked items. Yep, you can get your spring style entirely on point with items that you already have in your wardrobe.
From the coat that defines the season to the trainers you’ll wear forever, these are the pieces you’ll need for your springtime capsule, and they all work beautifully together. Even better is you might own a lot of them already, so this will be a good opportunity to remind yourself of the pieces you might have forgotten about ahead of the season kicking into gear. It never hurts to prepare, right?

Remember your favorite going-out top from, like, a decade ago? Well, it’s back and better than ever. We’re excited to see this dressy-casual trend is making a comeback along with retro denim fits, slingback heels, and sleek, sculptural accessories.
Of course, fashion darling Reformation is leading the resurgence with several fun new tops in contemporary styles and luxe materials, like the Sian Linen Top. This piece is the perfect amalgamation of a collared long-sleeve and a corset bodice, which is easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion. We love how it is styled with jeans and heeled loafers—easy yet editorial.
With buttery-smooth silk and top-quality linen, we’re confident that Reformation has a piece that makes it worth staying out past midnight. But if daytime festivities are already taking over your calendar, there are several Bridgerton-approved floral patterns that are perfect for everything from boozy brunch to bridal showers.
With fashion month upon us, we’re primed for a fresh set of street style outfits that will shape how people get dressed throughout 2023 as industry insiders distill the coolest styling ideas from the runways into their looks. While we are starting to see show-goers outfits trickle in for the F/W 23 season, I’ve been reflecting on some of the standout looks from the Paris street style scene during the S/S 23 collections and S/S 23 couture shows.
Some of the best looks of the season always emerge in Paris, and I’ve specifically been paying close attention to the directional ways we’ve been seeing denim on editors, stylists, and models outside of the shows. If you’re interested in infusing some new inspiration into your denim looks, ahead, see 7 blue-jeans outfits that are elevated enough to wear to the runway shows in Paris, yet wearable enough to throw on day to day.
As the shopping director at Who What Wear, I spend my days sourcing the market to bring you, dear readers, an edit of need-to-know buys. My team of editors and I collectively look at a lot of products on a daily basis. On that note, I thought I’d scroll through our team Slack channel to pull out a curation of new items that have our editor stamp of approval.
You’ll notice that the pieces included in the mix run the gamut. There’s everything from trend-forward basics like the of-the-moment cinched-in blazer to beautiful shoes (hello, ballet flats) to cool accessories that can help take any outfit to the next level.

Looking back on my Instagram it looks like my very first fashion show was BCBGMAXAZRIA fall of 2014 so you do the math! This was when NYFW was held in tents at Lincoln Center. I had interned for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week the year before and worked as an usher at the BCBG show, so for me to be invited back as a seated guest I was ecstatic–one of my favorite career highlights!
What’s your personal sartorial approach to Fashion Week?
This is my first season back after a three year hiatus so I actually have not thought about what I’ll be wearing at all! I have been living out of two suitcases for the last 9 months so I am working with a very limited closet, which I don’t think is necessarily a bad thing. I’ll stick to what I know, which is my go-to uniform paired with some comfortable shoes. When I traveled for NYFW I definitely used to plan my outfits ahead of time—I would have 2-3 items that I would be excited about but would wake up each day and dress according to how I felt, what shows I had, and how much walking I had ahead of me.
What piece are you most excited to wear?
Call me basic but I just bought amen’s denim shirt from Banana Republic that I’m really excited about for a denim-on-denim moment. ThisSaks Potts two-in-one trench is also the perfect transitional coat I’ll keep on rotation this fashion week and I’ll reach for myVen Store knits for layering.
What’s a Fashion Week nonnegotiable?
A mophie.
What how or presentation are you most excited about?
This is my first time attending shows as a bridal stylist which means I’ll be looking out for pieces for my real-life clients getting married this Fall. I’m looking forward to seeing what Rodarte, Carolina Herrera, and Markarian have in store for fall. I’m also excited about some couture silhouettes at Bach Mai and Wiederhoeft for my more unconventional brides.
What’s your trend prediction for the upcoming season?
From the iconic Chanel brides to Richard Quinn’s modern variation on the finale bride to Erdem & Prabal Gurung’s expansion into bridal and Christopher John Roger’s recent bridal capsule that just launched on Net-a-porter, I think we will see more and more unconventional bridalwear as well as ready-to-wear brands expanding into bridal. As for fall-specific trends, I think vests are having a moment along with interesting hosiery styling tricks—I would like to see some fun variations of these this season.
Most memorable NYFW moment:
Certain footwear choices, waiting for Cardi B, carpools, when Christina Aguilera showed up to the Area show, being late to the Coach show, missing the whole thing, and then crying about it.
When it comes to my wardrobe choices, my tight-knit circle of fashion friends is the first to hear. Like all 20-somethings, we have a chaotic group chat used for weekly happy-hour planning, venting about dating, and, naturally, thoughts on impulse shopping. This week’s topic of discussion was spring wardrobe selects from Nordstrom.
I always joke that being Gen Z is my style North Star when it comes to choosing my clothing, but it couldn’t be any truer. Now that the temperatures are rising and I’ve already turned over my entire wardrobe, my friends were my go-to sources of inspiration to talk me into (or out of!) purchases I knew weren’t going to last more than a month or two. If you can’t trust your besties to talk you out of buying a questionable outfit, what can you trust them with?
Naturally, Nordstrom’s spring arrivals and new offerings were more than cool enough to satisfy my shopping craving and the taste of my friends. Below, shop all of the items that got glowing reviews and heart reactions from my picky editor friends. Trust me—you’ll thank me later.
If you’ve never experienced New York Fashion Week from start to finish, it’s hard to describe the sort of beautiful chaos that ensues season after season. Without a doubt, the weeklong saga is one of the most rewarding of the year for people who, like me, prioritize fashion above all else. That being said, it’s also the busiest, with prep starting far in advance and work lasting from sunrise to sunset (and then some) for a majority of attendees. By the time the last finale of the week commences, there’s usually a synchronized sigh of relief, quickly followed by the realization that you’re already late for the airport, off to London to do it all over again.
Between fashion shows located all over Brooklyn and Manhattan, presentations taking place in every available time slot, previews, re-sees, and of course, dinners and parties, there’s no shortage of things to do and get done. So to give you an inside look at what NYFW is really like for seven of Who What Wear’s editors, we thought we’d open our gratitude journals/diaries/outfit-picture books/survival guides to all of you. Scroll down for 72 hours of NYFW, as told by WWW. And stay tuned for updates as more editors share their highlights.
French-girl style and a Nordstrom sale—two subjects we love to talk about here at Who What Wear! While the two don’t usually coincide (as of now, there are no Nordstrom locations in France), today we thought it would be fun to share what our Parisian friends are likely to buy should they happen to find themselves scrolling through Nordstrom’s big winter sale—which launches today and goes through February 20.
From elevated knits to trench coats and straight-leg jeans, if you’re looking for that effortlessly chic aesthetic keep scrolling below as we share the best French-girl inspired Nordstrom sale finds which you can score at up to 50% off.
Even though the weather outside might not indicate the impending arrival of spring (at least not where I’m located in New York City), warmer temperatures are, indeed, on the horizon. This, to me, means one thing: It’s time to start thinking about ways to transition my winter wardrobe into a spring one without my closet finally taking over the last few square feet left in my SoHo apartment. It’s not an easy job, but it’s one I look forward to every year. And the first sartorial genre on my agenda is sandals—also known as the footwear staple I’ll wear most in the months ahead.
Last season, the sandal space was dominated by pillow-like thongs, pastel slides, and every fashion girl’s favorite style, fisherman sandals. But like with most other trends of late, these are already starting to feel stale after seeing them on everyone everywhere—from Positano, Italy to my own backyard (aka the corner seat at Fanelli Cafe, where you can stylish people watch as shoppers exit Prada).
To replace them in my wardrobe, I’ve come up with a list of worthwhile replacements that are fresh for 2023. Scroll down to find out which sandal styles I’ll prioritize and which I won’t next season.
Watching shapewear evolve over the past few years has been a wild experience. What was once our best-kept secret is now something we are proud to show off. People are even wearing shapewear pieces as if it’s their regular clothes. The brand to thank for this cultural shift has to be Skims. I strongly admire the effect it’s had on the shapewear-and-lingerie industry. The confidence and feel-good energy that the brand provides to its customers has been next level, and we’re most definitely here for it.
After seeing the rise of the shapewear industry, I decided that I’m finally ready to build out my personal collection, but I wasn’t exactly sure where to start. Emma Grede is an expert in the shapewear world. I mean, she co-founded both Skims and Good American. I convinced her to give me a shopping list of the first few shapewear pieces to add to my collection, and I couldn’t be happier with my shopping cart after this chat. Shop with me below.
“I love the brief because it provides ample core support while offering a seamless construction, so it layers perfectly under any outfit. It also shapes and lifts your butt, so you feel super snatched and sexy. The Sculpting Mid Waist Brief paired with the Sculpting Bralette provides support and shapeliness without compromising comfort.” — Grede
“Our bodysuits at Good American are the perfect shapewear piece for everyday wear that holds in your core, shapes and lifts your butt, and supports your chest. It’s also extremely soft and seamless and can be worn as a layering piece or on its own. My favorite pieces right now are the High Shine Compression Bodysuit and Scuba Modern Tank Bodysuit—they are both so versatile and can take your look from day to night.” — Grede
“Leggings are such a versatile, comfortable, and sexy wardrobe staple, but it can be challenging to find a pair that complements your body type, while also elevating your look. I love our Good Waist Leggings from our High Shine Compression collection because they are made from a smooth compression fabric that nips your waist and defines your figure.” — Grede
“We recently launched Compression Denim, our latest system of sculpting denim with three different levels of sculpting fabric to shape your figure without sacrificing comfort or fit. We designed three different levels of compression to give our customers a range of support—so you’ll feel the power of shapewear in your favorite denim. My favorite is our Super Compression because you actually get to control how much you sculpt your waistline with adjustable front buttons. The jeans also look super tailored and can be dressed up and down.” — Grede
This is the kind of lingerie that’s so pretty I’d immediately want a pic in it.
Kendall Jenner wore this bra on Instagram, so now I want to wear this bra on Instagram.
This bra is a Who What Wear reader favorite.
This color is everything.
Think pink.
Now this would be my Valentine’s Day pick (and just might arrive on time).
With spring so close we can practically taste it, we’re packing away our boots and taking our sandals off the bench. It’s time for pedicures, open toes, and minimal straps to take over. However, in warmer weather, we typically want to spend less energy on outfit planning and more on having fun—anything too fussy or overly complicated is simply not worth it when the weather is nice and there are sunny days to be enjoyed. You want to be able to just slip on your favorite sandals, add a few key clothing items, and head out the door.
To simplify your warm-weather outfits, we thought now would be the perfect time to highlight a few cute outfit ideas to wear with your favorite sandals. The looks below are not only chic but also beyond easy to put together, only requiring a few pieces outside of your sandals of choice. From slip skirts to minidresses to matching sets, here are 10 easy outfits with sandals to try this season.
