  • The Best Buys Of 2023 So Far, According To Our Editors

The Best Buys Of 2023 So Far, According To Our Editors

If there’s one thing about our editors, it’s that we love to shop. It’s practically our job to spend hours online and in-stores scouring every corner of the internet and IRL sales racks to find the best deals. More often than not, we’ll stumble upon something we can’t help but buy ourselves— often supplemented by sending photos of our late-night impulse purchases and thoughtful buys in our Who What Wear Slack channel. (Listen, it’s part of our job description! How could we not!)

Not every purchase is made equal though: there are some things we buy that slowly fade into the back of our closets. But, sometimes, we happen to buy one life-changing item that completely transforms our lives: we can’t stop wearing it, posting about it, or telling everyone we know about it. Now that we’re solidly half-way through 2023, it’s only fair to round-up the best-of-the-best purchases our editors have made this year. From under-$50 Zara tops perfect for a night on the town to party-stealing occasion bags with clay cookies on them, these are the finds Who What Wear editors would buy again in a heartbeat—and most likely, you will too.

  • I’m Over Denim Shorts—Here’s 31 Chic Pairs I’m Shopping Instead

I’m Over Denim Shorts—Here’s 31 Chic Pairs I’m Shopping Instead

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I want my summer outfits to look and feel effortless. I love a look full of complicated layers in the fall and winter, but once the weather warms up, I lean into the laidback aesthetic, meaning a rotation of dresses, tank tops, tees, and shorts. But when I recently pulled out my summer staples, I quickly realized that most of my shorts are denim, and as of this year, my tastes have changed. While I once loved denim shorts, I’m officially over them now.

This is just a personal preference. I think everyone should wear whatever they like, but I don’t find denim shorts comfortable anymore. I prefer lightweight linen or soft cotton when temperatures are high, so I’ve been on a mission to replace my denim shorts collection with more breathable fabrics. I’ve scoured the internet for the best non-denim shorts to add to my summer wardrobe and found some seriously chic options. Below I’m sharing my favorite finds in case you’re in the market. Keep scrolling for 31 pairs of non-denim shorts for summer.

  • 8 Chic Outfits That Are Giving Rich Mom Energy

8 Chic Outfits That Are Giving Rich Mom Energy

Quiet luxury is shaping up to be one of the most popular phrases of 2023, and if you read Who What Wear regularly you’ll be well aware of the aesthetic—characterized by timeless, classic, and understated style. An extension of this trend is Rich Mom energy—a term coined by TikToker, Christina Najjar (aka Tinx), who built up a massive following with her “rich mom starter pack” videos—where she explains that rich mom energy is all about an attitude of living well. The fascination around the aesthetic is particularly prominent thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow’s recent Loro Piana-filled courtroom wardrobe which sparked endless discussion about this specific style of dressing.

The main idea behind rich mom energy is to look forever understated—think low-key luxe garments, neutral shades, simple silhouettes, no logos but instead stealth wealth labels, including The Row, Khaite, and Brunello Cucinelli that are ultra-luxurious and seriously expensive. Celebrities such as Giselle Buchden, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Amal Clooney and of course the queen of rich mom energy, Gwyneth Paltrow, embody the look perfectly.

Fortunately, you don’t have to be a mom or ultra rich to embody this vibe and you can easily emulate the style aesthetic no matter what your budget. Below, I’m sharing 7 chic outfits from celebs and fashion girls that are giving rich mom energy, along with plenty of shopping picks to get the low-key luxury look.

So bouncy blow outs, white jeans, and Goopglow morning skin superpowder at the ready, find plenty of inspiration to channel the aesthetic below.

  • 8 Outfits That Prove High-Waisted Jeans Are Eternally Chic

8 Outfits That Prove High-Waisted Jeans Are Eternally Chic

When it comes to denim jeans, the choices are endless. From low-rise styles to wide-leg silhouettes, you can customize your jeans like your morning latte. But I firmly believe nothing trumps high-waisted jeans. There’s an effortless and sophisticated air about them that doesn’t translate as easily with other styles, hence why I’ve become so enamored with them. That said, knowing which outfit combinations work best with high-waisted jeans is essential. You’ll want to focus on proportion and pair them with pieces that compliment the high waist, like cropped shirts or tops that are simple to tuck in. Adding a belt or coat is another way to play up the silhouettes that can create an even more interesting sartorial take.

To get your styling juices flowing, we’ve selected some of our favorite high-waisted jeans outfits worn by some of the most fashionable people on the Internet. Their outfits are so good it won’t be long before they become your go-to outfit formula. Scroll below to see and shop them all.

This New $15 H&M Dress Hits on My Favorite French Trend

These days it seems like you can barely buy a baguette for less than $5, so when I come across a quintessentially French find that doesn’t cost a fortune, I tend to take stock and spread the wealth.

  • The Bag Trend Celebs Wear But Royals Don’t

The Bag Trend Celebs Wear But Royals Don’t

When I first caught a glimpse of Jennifer Lopez‘s newest outfit, I zeroed in on her Gucci crossbody bag because it’s incredibly chic but most importantly practical. However, it also reminded me of a TikTok video I made (which happened to go viral) about 5 things royals never wear. At the top of the list—you guessed it—were crossbody bags.

As it turns out, the classic bag style is just too casual for working royals, so they gravitate towards more polished pieces instead. As some of the comments pointed out, royals have aides and security to help them with their personal belongings, so why would they need a crossbody anyway? For the rest of us plebians, however, the style is suitable for nearly every occasion under the sun. Scroll down to see some examples of how celebs and royals wear different bag trends.

  • My Friends Always Ask Me What to Wear to Weddings—I Tell Them This

My Friends Always Ask Me What to Wear to Weddings—I Tell Them This

To some of you, my big piece of advice might seem obvious, and to others, it may be groundbreaking. From my point of view, I am just speaking the wise words that are hidden in plain sight. Too many times at formal events, people are taken a little bit too far out of their comfort zone, whether it’s because of a skirt hem that’s so heavily beaded it’s difficult to walk in or a bust that is squeezing them in too tightly. There’s a time and a place to make a true fashion statement, but a wedding just isn’t it. In most cases, you will be wearing your dress all day and night, transitioning from the ceremony venue to the reception. For this reason, I tell all of my friends to prioritize wearing something that makes them feel comfortable and confident. After all, the spotlight should really be on the couple.

If you have a lot of weddings on your calendar in the upcoming year, don’t be afraid of the toxic term “outfit repeater.” When you find something that really suits you, it deserves to make several appearances. Shopping for dresses you can wear again with different accessories will truly guarantee you’ll find comfort in whatever you choose to wear for the special day. Below, I am sharing a few different ways to style your favorite wedding guest dress so you can wear it again and again.

Finding the right work bag is a prime example of something you use daily but might not give a second thought as you’re running out the door to work in the morning. I have to admit that I, too, spent way too long stuffing my laptop and daily essentials in a random canvas tote until I finally made the life-changing decision of investing in a quality work bag. The Cool Denim Trend Fashion Girls Are Wearing on Repeat This Year (and Always)

It’s hard to remember a time where I wasn’t a fan of jeans in a lighter wash. I absolutely love summer, but when it comes to dressing for sweltering, sweat-inducing, humid temps, it can often be tricky to navigate, especially when you want your outfit to appear less on the casual side and more on the “Sofia Richie in the South of France” stylish side.

  • You’re Done: 11 Summer Staples I’m Simply Tired Of, and Their Fresher Alts

You’re Done: 11 Summer Staples I’m Simply Tired Of, and Their Fresher Alts

I might be jumping the gun here, but I’m already looking ahead to my favorite time of year: summer. I’m looking forward to the long days and warm nights ahead that are hopefully peppered with beach trips, rooftop happy hours, and picnics in the park. While I sit here and daydream about the rising temperatures and outdoor activities to come, naturally I’m also examining my summer wardrobe and doing a good bit of gutting.

I think we can all agree that the past two summer seasons have not exactly felt “normal,” so the staples I used to wear between the months of June and September could definitely use an update. I took a look at my closet and will be removing eight outdated summer fashion staples, in particular, simply because they no longer feel like the freshest option. Items like tiny crop tops and kitschy beaded bags that I hoarded for years are getting the boot, and now I have my eye on a few 2023 updates that will make all my summer ‘fits feel truer to where my style is at today.

With that, keep reading to see which staples I’ll be relying upon over the course of the next few months, and consequently, which older ones I’m cutting out for good.

  • I Spent My Entire Workday Shopping Nordstrom’s Sale—30 Finds I’m Losing It Over

I Spent My Entire Workday Shopping Nordstrom’s Sale—30 Finds I’m Losing It Over

There comes a point in any major sale when you need to stop resisting the urge to shop and finally give in to temptation. I, more than anyone, will tell you that shopping a sale right when it begins won’t result in the best deal. However, once the dust has settled a bit and sizes and colors have begun to dwindle, it’s essential that you hop to it and snag the items you’re eyeing before someone else does. There’s a short window for success, but as a fashion editor who’s covered countless sales, I’m prepared to make sure you don’t miss it.

Arguably, the biggest sale happening right now is Nordstrom’s epic Half-Yearly Sale, which currently includes nearly 20,000 marked-down items for women, from shoes and handbags to apparel. In the bunch are designer finds from brands like Khaite, Nili Lotan, The Row, Tory Burch, and The Attico as well as affordable items from Skims, Topshop, Open Edit, and Levi’s. Really, this year’s Half-Yearly Sale includes a little bit of everything, and that’s coming from someone who, over the last day, has probably looked through every last one of the 19,576 items on sale.

In order to ensure that you don’t lose out on your chance to get in on the action, I rounded up 30 of the most mind-boggling pieces that are on sale right now. Scroll down to shop them all.
