    NEW YORK — How is everybody doing?

    It seems that may be a loaded question.

    The one and only Elmo of Sesame Street” asked people how they were doing earlier this week on “X.”

    Elmo got a flood of responses, many of them from people who are struggling.

    Even celebrities confided in Elmo.

    Actress Rachel Zegler said she’s: “resisting the urge to tell Elmo that I am kinda sad.”

    The Detroit Free Press is still dealing with the Lions’ loss in the NFC Championship and said, “We’ve been better, Elmo.”

    Dionne Warwick just responded with this gif:

    Elmo even caught the attention of the White House.

    President Biden posted:

    “Our friend Elmo is right: we have to be there for each other, offer our help to a neighbor in need, and above all else, ask for help when we need it. Even though it’s hard, you’re never alone.”

    Elmo followed up with a post that he was glad he asked and promised to check on everyone again soon.

    Difficult to become a Twitch Partner, for everyone…even the big boss!

    The world of streaming on Twitch is more competitive than ever and even the CEO of the platform, Daniel Clancy, experienced it first hand. The CEO of Twitch, who streams on the platform in his spare time, revealed on Twitter/X that he had submitted a secret application to the Twitch Partner Program, but it was rejected. To be admitted to the Twitch Partner Program, streamers must meet several strict criteria, including an average of around 75 viewers per broadcast, excluding views from hosting, raids, first page or integrations. Clancy’s candidacy was rightly rejected because the attendance of his streams was too fluctuating.

    A Partner Program too difficult to reach?

    This rejection recalls the challenges many streamers face when aspiring to become Partners on Twitch. Streamers who are not CEO of a multinational, and often have more need of the income that could result from it. Even though we can regularly hear criticism on this subject, the Partner Program is still quite strict. And for good reason, it offers Streamer-exclusive benefits, such as monetization opportunities, channel customization, expanded VOD storage, and priority support. The requirement for a constant and high attendance makes accessing the Partner Program difficult, even for established streamers. This is, among other things, what pushes a very large number of them to stream every day of the year or almost.

    It’s not humans who decide?

    The rejection of the CEO’s candidacy sparked amused reactions from many Internet users, because it is funny to say the least. We also saw some encouraging reactions to push Dan Clancy to persevere, because one day, he will have his partnership! Above all, for some, it may have proven one thing. One thing Twitch – like most social platforms – wouldn’t easily admit: that many things, and in particular the Partner Program, are not managed by humans, but robots. Indeed, a robot does not differentiate between Dan Clancy or another streamer, but judges them all the same way. A human on the other hand… One wonders if a Twitch employee had had to evaluate Dan Clancy’s Partner Program application, would he have validated it? even if it did not completely meet the required criteria?

    Tauranga council heeds call to loosen CBD parking noose, approves plans to help struggling businesses – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    The Tauranga City Council is going to tap into a special fund to explore a range of initiatives aimed at helping the CBD’s struggling businesses.

    Parking, a point of concern for many retailers, will be one of the items on the agenda.

    The move has been prompted by calls for action from inner city businesses which say the CBD is in crisis and they are struggling to attract staff because of a lack of parking.

    Commissioners were today asked to approve widening the scope of the $500,000 per annum three-year fund to better respond to concerns raised by CBD businesses, including parking restrictions.

    The fund was originally intended to help increase the supply of residential accommodation in the city centre.

    However, council’s General Manager: City Development and Partnerships Gareth Wallis said the number of people wanting to access the fund had “dried up” so the money could be redirected into finding ways to help CBD businesses.

    “As a council, we can do more to support the city centre over the next couple of years,” Wallis said.

    “There’s definitely no silver bullet. If there was, we would’ve already done it,” Wallis said.

    Wallis, and commissioner Anne Tolley, both referenced “particularly negative” feedback from CBD businesses last week.

    I hope this finds you and yours safe after last night’s scary weather event.

    With multiple tornado touchdowns in Central Texas and morning reports today of damage, we wanted to reach out to let you know how we fared and what we’re doing to support response efforts.

    Firstly, our animals and facilities were unharmed. Our Town Lake Animal Center (TLAC) shelter, which as you probably know faces challenges, weathered the storm well! With our recent equipment upgrades and overnight staff additions, the teams were able to prepare the animals and facility ahead of the weather, as well as quickly mitigate any pooling water as storms hit our area. Thank you to our amazing staff and volunteers on the ground last night.

    Secondly, Austin Pets Alive! is offering assistance to local, county, and state government emergency operations teams as they assist with recovery efforts following yesterday’s tornadoes. We are concerned that many pet owners could be facing difficulties and pets could be struggling, displaced, and at risk. Through our Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (P.A.S.S.) program, we will assist with finding temporary homes, food, and other pet need for people with pets affected by the tornadoes.
