It’s always exciting when I receive an email that a brand is releasing a new colorway of a product that The Kitchn team loves. Usually these colors are very nice, but they don’t always live up to the hype. After seeing a preview, my reaction is often, Oh, another shade of red! or Hmm … don’t they already have that green color? You get the idea. And so does KitchenAid, because they just released their 2024 Color of the Year, and I promise you it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: Blue Salt (definitely not to be confused with Saltburn), a gorgeous periwinkle blue with an iridescent reddish-pearl finish that subtly changes hues depending on the lighting.
I got the opportunity to see Blue Salt in person on KitchenAid’s Artisan Series 5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, and it really is striking. In fact, when I unboxed the mixer in the office this morning to photograph it, the oohs and ahhs from colleagues were overwhelming. There were lots of comments about how unique and pretty this Color of the Year is, and more than one person remarked on its iridescence.
KitchenAid describes Blue Salt as a “living color,” and it really does shift tones depending on the brightness of the space where it’s placed. In natural light near the window, the blue seemed more faded, with just the tiniest hints of red. Away from the window, the blue was richer and deeper, and the red sheen much more apparent along the top. This mixer isn’t just a kitchen workhorse, it’s a conversation piece!
Blue Salt is currently only available on the Artisan Series 5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, which includes both a 5-quart and 3-quart stainless-steel mixing bowl for large or small batches, a pouring shield to help prevent spills and splatters, a six-wire whip attachment, a flex edge beater, a pastry beater that easily breaks up butter, and a coated silver dough hook attachment that makes the periwinkle appliance look even more chic.

In case you haven’t gone outside recently, fall is definitely in the air. Yep, even though it might feel like summer was just yesterday, we’re deep into the holiday season, which means it’s time to start making your lists and checking them twice — for sales, that is. While most of the juiciest deals have usually dropped later in the month, a bunch of our favorite brands have already launched their early Black Friday sales. KitchenAid, for example, is having a massive sales event right now through Nov. 11 on some of their top-selling products, including their iconic stand mixer, countertop blenders, hand mixers, and more. If you’ve ever been on the fence about investing in a KitchenAid appliance — and trust us, it’s more than worth it — now is the time to take the leap. There’s a good chance they’ll outlast you, and if you grab them now while they’re majorly marked down, they’ll be a lot easier on your wallet, too!
