  • 30 Spring Shopping Finds You Have to See If Your Motto Is “Fewer But Better”

30 Spring Shopping Finds You Have to See If Your Motto Is “Fewer But Better”

At the start of this year, I made the executive decision to seriously curb my impulsive purchases and actually save up for the worthwhile wardrobe investments that will outlast trends and outsmart seasons. It’s definitely easier said than done, but this year, I’m setting out to make my closet stronger and last much longer.

I know I’m not the only one feeling this way, either. We’re reaching a point in fashion where many of us are experiencing trend fatigue, and while I personally don’t foresee trends ever ceasing to exist, I think the answer to this exhaustion is twofold: narrowing in on a personal style that isn’t so easily swayed by fleeting trends and being a pickier shopper—a much pickier shopper. For me, that means I’m focused on building a wardrobe that’s timeless and trend agnostic and, most importantly, feels like me.

When it comes to shopping, I’m navigating things with a “fewer but better” mindset, and now that spring’s new arrivals are finally hitting the market, I figured I’d share what I’m currently eyeing in case you, too, want to shop like me. With that, here are the 30 best investment buys I’m prioritizing for spring 2023. They’re cool, they’re classic, and they’re designed to last.

Despite the current frigid temperatures many cities are facing, spring is slowly inching closer. And with a new season comes new trends in tow for us to sift through, but it can be a tad overwhelming to face them all.  Our closets (and minds) can only hold so much, after all. That’s why our Starter Pack series is here to give you the rundown on what’s most important amongst the noise. While we took runway collections into consideration, this series focuses on which pieces translated over to what people are wearing IRL. Below, you’ll find a curated list of eight trends that’ll help kickstart another stylish season. If you have some of the items on the list already, not only are we impressed, but you’re on the path to sartorial success. Of All the New Spring Arrivals Dropping RN, These Are the Only Ones Worth Noting

We’re right about to approach that magical time of year when the final remnants of last season are deeply discounted and quickly selling out, all to make room for the mother-load: new spring arrivals. And at last, the wait is over.

Over the next few weeks, the spring runway collections will arrive, drop by drop, into our favorite retailers, as will more affordable takes on the coinciding trends, making now the perfect time to start planning what you’re going to invest in and what’s better to wait until those aforementioned end-of-season sales for. • 20 Simple Spring Outfit Formulas Parisians Rely On to Look Chic

20 Simple Spring Outfit Formulas Parisians Rely On to Look Chic

Hear that noise? It’s the clock counting down the days until the official start of spring. With a new season on the horizon, there’s so much to be excited about—warmer temperatures, fresh trends, the prospect of spring travel; the list goes on and on. I’d be lying if I didn’t say there was one specific thing I’m looking forward to most; a chance to update my wardrobe. I’ve been feeling fatigued when choosing what to wear for this last stretch of winter, and I’m guessing that if you’re reading this, you are tired too. We all want to ditch a few layers, but it’s not always straightforward.

A shift into a new season, especially spring, requires some work—you’re weighing which pieces are worth investing in and dealing with transitional weather. It’s a delicate balancing act that can be, at times, overwhelming. So, where does one turn to for a blueprint to make sound sartorial decisions? The French, obviously. While I’m a proponent believer that great outfit ideas can come from anywhere, I know that no one does it like the French (blame their innate je ne sais quoi). It’s only natural then that I’d turn to the Parisian fashion set as a guidepost for changing my closet for the new season.

Ahead, you’ll find 20 simple spring outfits that are simple enough to copy and paste into any wardrobe, no matter where you live. Plus, the key pieces you’ll need to recreate the looks yourself. Consider this your one-stop shop for being à la mode this spring.

  • I’m a Newly-Converted Nordstrom Rack Shopper–38 Pieces at the Top of My Wishlist

I’m a Newly-Converted Nordstrom Rack Shopper–38 Pieces at the Top of My Wishlist

It’s true, I’ve been converted and (my wallet) and I can’t argue with it. The prices on Nordstrom Rack are a welcome change from other shopping carts I have. And the pieces are still as luxe and options as vast, or even more than, so I’m all in. With so many versatile pieces, Nordstrom Rack is the perfect one-stop shop for refreshing your spring wardrobe

Now that I’ve confessed my newest vice, it’s time to admit I spent hours combing through the site to give you (and myself) a spring wishlist that fits the budget. In my search I found a variety of trend-forward blazers, go-to denim, playful footwear, and twists on staple pieces that will update your closet.

Shop the 38 pieces I think are totally worth it below.

  • This Not-So-Subtle Shoe Trend Has Officially Gone Viral—25 Ways to Style It

This Not-So-Subtle Shoe Trend Has Officially Gone Viral—25 Ways to Style It

Have you ever been scrolling through social media and suddenly realized that everyone on your timeline is wearing the same trend? In this day and age, it’s a given that trends blow up on TikTok overnight. And while it’s my job to keep up, something will sneak up on me every now and again, and I won’t see it coming. Such is the case with the rise of one specific trend: metallic shoes.

I should preface this by saying that, on an intellectual level, I was cognizant of the prevalence of metallics in fall/winter 2022 collections. But, by no means did I think this shoe style would go viral—at most, I thought it would be a niche micro trend only worn by a few brave souls (boy, I was wrong). Since their debut last season, they’ve not had continued prevalence in S/S 23, but they’ve strutted off the runway and into major city streets. And while it’s not hard to miss the rise in popularity this footwear has had (because they’re so shiny), it might be hard to get why.

So, in an effort to explain the phenomenon, I’ve done some research to show this footwear’s resurgence on the runway. Plus, I’ve found outfit ideas to show how to wear metallic shoes. Put on your sunglasses because things are about to get bright.

  • Mango’s New Arrivals Are Too Good–31 I Think Will Sell Out First

Mango’s New Arrivals Are Too Good–31 I Think Will Sell Out First

Mango’s new arrivals are always on my radar. Not only because they’re consistently on-trend and sophisticated but also because if you don’t catch them quickly, they sell out. The newest drop is a slew of expensive-looking faux leather separates, elegantly-tailored suiting, premium knitwear staples, and twists on classic denim pieces. This installment is guaranteed to be worn by fashion people and influencers alike, hence its potential to fly off the site quickly.

And although you’ll definitely see these on your favorite fashion follows, they’re also very accessibly priced for the quality, trend-forward pieces you’ll find. I’ve taken my editorial expertise to the new arrivals page to pinpoint the pieces you need to snag before they’re gone.

  • I Shopped the Anti-Balletcore Trend Everyone Is Low-Key Loving This Spring

I Shopped the Anti-Balletcore Trend Everyone Is Low-Key Loving This Spring

Move over, balletcore. There’s a new trend in town with a decked-out motorcycle and a Diesel skirt set so mini Paris Hilton’s Y2K outfits would do a double take. Introducing the biker baddie: an in-your-face trending aesthetic that relies on faded leather jackets, oversize sporty shades, and distressed combat boots. It’s not just us feeling the moto trend, either. A handful of our editors’ favorite designers and retailers have begun to experiment with the grungy, chic look.

The biker trend dominated this past winter thanks to the rise of aviator jackets and distressed denim, but frankly, it shows no stops of slowing down as we head into the spring. Heavier coats and boots can be switched out for embellished flats and strappy see-through tops, proving that moto goes way beyond the cold months.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve officially reached my limits with winter. Don’t get me wrong, I love all my cozy winter staples, and I’ve been living for all the trends coming out of F/W 23 collections. But the fatigue is palpable, and I know I’m not the only one experiencing it. This time of year marks when we all collectively begin to count the days until the official start of spring. For many, it’s a time of renewal and a chance to reset everything, including how you dress.

While shedding a few layers is always exciting, there can be some trepidation about the shift into a new season. One can feel the added pressure to splurge on new clothing or to don recent trends when emerging back out outside. But in this economy, dropping an entire check on new clothing is exactly reasonable. So, what’s an alternative to making your wardrobe feel fresh without spending a fortune on new clothing? The solution is jewelry.

Accessories have always been the easiest way to freshen up any staples in your closet. There’s no shortage of accessories you can add to the mix to make your wardrobe feel current (e.g., hats and bags), but my favorite is jewelry. Without fail, adding a trend-forward ornament can make even the most basic staples shine. So, to make the transition into the new season easy (and affordable), I’ve identified the 7 biggest jewelry trends on the spring/summer 2023 runways and shopped them out. These trends are sure to make any wardrobe feel shiny and new.

  • H&M’s Spring Edit Literally Just Dropped—25 Items Guaranteed to Sell Out

H&M’s Spring Edit Literally Just Dropped—25 Items Guaranteed to Sell Out

H&M has burned me more than any other retailer. Too often when I’ve hesitated before purchasing a piece from the brand, it has sold out. The style and the price point combine to create a perfect storm that consistently leads to sellouts. This, while good for the brand, is a bummer for anyone on the other side of the interaction. Because of this, I’ve tweaked my plan of action when shopping on the site, which basically means that I don’t hesitate when I find something really good—I act.

When I checked H&M‘s homepage yesterday afternoon and saw that its spring edit had dropped, I immediately began scouring every last page of new arrivals. After shopping a bit for myself, I couldn’t possibly go on with my week without sharing the news before its best pieces sold out. Without further ado, scroll down to find my picks from H&M’s spring arrivals.

  • What’s Your Zodiac Sign? There’s a Spring Trend For That

What’s Your Zodiac Sign? There’s a Spring Trend For That

    Photo:

Courtesy of Saint Laurent; Imaxtree/Off-White; Imaxtre/A.Roege Hove

Every job requires a unique skill set; for those of us who work in fashion, it can be boiled down to needing to have strong intuition. You have to be able to predict what’s next—whether that’s trends to come, up-and-coming designers, or the next style icon. In some ways, prophesizing in fashion mirrors what astrology is all about. We’re looking out into the universe to find answers for what’s next, what’s happening, and even self-realization.

And while some may not necessarily think that astrology and fashion are interlinked, that’s far from the truth. Even if you’re not the type of person who has your entire birth chart memorized (guilty as charged), there are benefits to accumulating some knowledge. It can not only give you more profound clues about who you are, but it can also help you craft an approach to personal style. While I’ll admit you can’t learn everything overnight (I’m still learning, too), as a self-professed expert in astrology and fashion, I can give you a great start.

In that vein, I’ve researched the best spring/summer 2023 fashion trends for each zodiac sign (based on optimal colors, personality, and life approaches). Whether you know your entire chart down or are new to this whole astrology thing, I’ve got you covered. Consider this your style horoscope for the coming season (just be sure to check for your rising, venus, and sun sign).

Sweater Sets Are Trending—Here Are 20 of the Best Duos on the Market

Fear not, for many cozy and cute times lie ahead thanks to the latest market trendsweater sets. The fall and winter runways displayed a plethora of knits on knits ranging from skirts and tops to sweaters on sweaters, but as we prepare for the official arrival of spring, it’s the sweater sets specifically that have risen to the top. As an editor, I had been noticing what felt like tons of sweater sets in the market (and on influencers), with the continual addition of new styles as the weeks went on, so naturally, I decided to write this story.

  • I Have Casual Style—These Are the Spring Trends I’m Avoiding and Embracing

I Have Casual Style—These Are the Spring Trends I’m Avoiding and Embracing

As someone who lives in the South and works from home full-time, I have pretty good reason to maintain a primarily casual wardrobe. Day to day, I typically wear jeans and sneakers and things made of knit fabrics. And although I love fashion, when I review the runways each season, a lot that I come across wouldn’t really mesh with my own lifestyle.

Following the ultra-casual era that the pandemic forced all of us into, designers have embraced themes and trends in fashion that are geared toward going out and returning to the office. The urge to wear something besides sweatpants now that life is basically back to normal makes perfect sense to me. But that doesn’t mean I suddenly have reasons to wear head-to-toe sequins, and perhaps some of you can relate.

Accordingly, I combed through the S/S 23 runways and found a handful of trends that definitely don’t fit into my casual aesthetic (but that doesn’t mean that I don’t love them). There are also plenty that do fit. So scroll on to shop those and find out which fancy trends I’m passing on this season.

  • After the Longest January in History, Here’s What to Wear in February

After the Longest January in History, Here’s What to Wear in February

January has come to an end, and spring is in the air. Let’s all breathe a collective sigh of relief. Many of us likely have a handful of chilly months still ahead, but at the very least, we’ll soon be able to ditch the heavy wool coats and winter warmers.

With this in mind, it’s time to start thinking about which outfits will carry us through the transitional period. February isn’t just the first sign of spring. It’s also a month filled with hot-off-the-press inspiration thanks to the succession of fashion weeks popping up around the world. After finding your sartorial footing in the first few weeks of the year, now is the prime time to take notes from the runways and start having fun with your style.

Alas, it’s still slightly too early to hide away your knitwear and embrace the rainbow dresses and sandal trends that will come out in full force this summer. Ease yourself in by opting for lighter layers, hints of color, and fresh alternatives to your cold-weather staples. To give you some ideas, I’ve rounded up six outfits that successfully toe the line between winter and spring. You know what to do…

  • These Are the Only Spring Jacket Trends That Matter

These Are the Only Spring Jacket Trends That Matter

The fall runway shows have come and gone, and though the layered looks that graced the runways are accompanied by the scent of crisp leaves, we can’t get our minds off a different season: spring. Winter fatigue is real, and while everyone loves an autumnal glow, the hint of fresh flowers and soft pink palettes is much more appealing, at least to me. With spring in mind, we’re looking to the fashion set for inspiration on the season’s most important accessory: jackets.

Spring means transitional dressing, which means an internal dialogue as to whether or not a jacket is really necessary. The answer is almost always yes, lest you regret your decision come 3 p.m. when the sun is no longer shining quite so bright. Your winter puffer will no longer do, but a light leather option in a bold color certainly will. Not to mention statement trenches, oversize blazers, and, yes, vests (the shapes that are taking over outerwear this season).

Scroll through to shop the spring jackets that you’ll want to wear to get you through to the summer months, where clothes are really just a suggestion anyway.
