WHO: Noutcha Lopes, Marketer and Content Creator

How would you describe your personal style?

My style is defined by mixing statement pieces with staples. I like pairing classic pieces like straight pants or a white T-shirt with trendy outerwear like a moto jacket. I’m also a big fan of the high-low mix. I invest in pieces from high-street brands like Prada, Nanushka, Saint Laurent, and Bottega Veneta and pair them with trendier elements from retailers like Zara

Is there one key staple you swear by to survive spring each year?

Oversized blazers are my uniform. I love to style them casually with jeans, a turtleneck, and this season’s buzziest shoes. Or I like to dress up an oversized blazer by styling it as a short dress paired with thigh-high boots.

Lastly, are there any specific pieces you’re eying for the season? If so, why?

I have seen many feather details lately on sweaters, dresses, and cardigans. I love the versatility of this trend. For someone that is not super girly, this is the perfect gateway to add a little glam to every outfit, and I’m going to buy it for the season.

Florals? For spring? It’s certainly not groundbreaking by any means, but hey, it’s fun. The arrival of warm weather after a harsh winter means only one thing in my book: floral maxi dresses. It’s practically my uniform once I rummage through my storage unit and turn over my closet for spring and summer. Not only are floral maxi dresses seasonally appropriate, but they’re also my secret weapon for creating an effortless, no-nonsense outfit recipe. Usually, I throw one on over a pair of anti-chafing biker shorts, add sneakers or a pair of leather slides, and I’m out the door in two minutes, allowing me to enjoy the sunshine and bottomless mimosas with my friends on Saturday mornings that much more. Who wants to spend more than an hour picking out their outfit when the weather is nice?

Below, browse the floral print maxi dresses I may add to my rotation this spring. From abstract and affordable to sugary-sweet pink and purple ruffled picks, here’s your unofficial guide to the best spring dresses on the market right now.

  • Stranger Things Star Natalia Dyer Shares the 4 Trends She’s Loving for Spring

Stranger Things Star Natalia Dyer Shares the 4 Trends She’s Loving for Spring

    [ad_1]

If you’ve already binge-watched the entirety of Stranger Things season four, then chances are you’re familiar with Natalia Dyer—the actress best known for playing Nancy Wheeler in the suspenseful Netflix sci-fi horror series. I’ve personally been devouring her retro-cool looks on the show from the very beginning—an eye-catching array of corduroy, shearling jackets, high-waisted jeans, mohair sweaters and retro sneakers—pretty much convincing me to revisit the ’80s preppy looks in my own wardrobe. Of course, I’ve been curious how much Natalia’s style differs off screen.

Luckily, I got the chance to sit down with the Nashville-raised, NYC-dwelling actress, at the launch of Longchamp’s spring/summer 2023 collection. She’s started working closely with the luxury French heritage brand in recent years and has become enamored with its effortlessly chic offerings. At the Santa Monica rooftop where we’re sitting she wears a head-to-toe vibrant poppy-hued Longchamp outfit and their latest Box-Trot handbag in bright pink—quite the contrast from her Nancy Wheeler outfits I’m used to seeing on the show. We chat about her everyday style which always errs on the side of comfort. I think I fall a little more in love with the down-to-earth actress when she tells me she’s been wearing casual Dickies pants almost every day and is a huge fan of Etsy—where she hunts for Victorian-inspired blouses and vintage pieces that are inspiring her at any given moment.

So what trends is the Stranger Things star excited for this season? From retro sneakers to flowy dresses, keep scrolling for the styles she tells me she’s loving right now.

I’m a Fashion Exec—These Trends Will Become Even Hotter Over the Next Few Months

    [ad_1]

Our attention is laser-focused on spring trends right now. While we, the editors at Who What Wear, certainly have our favorites, we thought it could be interesting to gain insight into what’s defining the season from a different sartorial point of view for something different. Enter Diego Abba, CEO of Italist. This fashion exec has a pulse on what’s trending from a luxury retail perspective. He’s noted a few specific trends that are becoming increasingly popular on the site, and will probably become even hotter over the next few months given that many of the looks also had a presence in the fall/winter 2023 collections that debuted during fashion month.

“With over 1,500 brands and 250,000 items curated by Italy’s best retail buyers, it’s easy to spot fashion trends coalescing on Italist,” he said. Oh, it’s also to note that the beauty of Italist is that you can save majorly on designer items because the pieces are at the local Italian price. Many of the new spring collections are already marked down, and you can save up to 45% off local retail pricing.

Below you’ll uncover further insight from Abba about the trends that are bubbling up, based on customer interaction on the site. If you’re interested in investing in a new piece, you’ll also find shopping picks to jump on the trending items. There’s also visual inspiration to showcase the trends in question.

Trust Me—These Are the Top 5 Items From Zara, Nordstrom, and Mango

    [ad_1]

Nothing excites me more than losing myself while pursuing the latest offerings from my favorite online stores. You should see the amount of open tabs at a given time on my browser. • 6 Items That Went So Viral They Already Sold Out—30 Alts I’m Buying Instead

6 Items That Went So Viral They Already Sold Out—30 Alts I’m Buying Instead

    [ad_1]

These days, it can feel like the viral cycle moves on a 24-hour basis, with new It items rising to peak popularity so fast, it’s close to impossible to ever even get your hands on them before the masses do, leading to a complete sell out. Even when an item has a high price tag that, for most people, would call for months of budgeting, somehow, every retailer will sell out of it in days—sometimes even hours—and either take months to restock it or never bring it back at all. In such cases, if you want to get in on the trend, you have to get creative.

My solution, at least when I’ve tried and failed to find the exact item in my size on the secondhand market, is to dig through the internet for worthwhile alternatives that will allow me to check the trend off my list without the real thing. Yes, it takes work, especially if you want to find a proper substitute. Nonetheless, I’m almost always able to stumble upon a resolution.

This week, following my own search for alts of the spring items I want but can’t have (probably because they went viral somewhere on the internet), I decided it was only right to share my findings. Ahead, discover 6 sold-out (or almost sold-out) items and the many alternatives I believe are just as worth spending money on. Don’t take too long to shop them, though, as history proves that they, like their predecessors, won’t last long.

Nordstrom Just Got So Much New Stock—I’m Freaking Out About These Pieces

One of the hazards of being a fashion editor is the constant temptation to add all (and I mean all) the pieces I come across to my virtual cart. Such is the case every time I check the new arrivals section at Nordstrom—My latest perusal was no exception. It is no surprise, though, since Nordy consistently has a great selection of pieces land on their site every week that cater to a variety of personal styles at different price points.

This time around I was excited to find a range of lovely elevated basics including a French-girl worthy ribbed t-shirt, chic linen shorts, classic flats, and the perfect trench coat. I also came across some cool trendy pieces that are guaranteed  conversation starters like a bright matching checkered set, rhinestone boots, baggy jeans, and a sleek corset top. • 7 Outdated Spring Trends We’re Leaving Behind and Their Timeless Replacements

7 Outdated Spring Trends We’re Leaving Behind and Their Timeless Replacements

    [ad_1]

No one loves the phrase “spring cleaning” like a team of fashion editors. We’re trained to have an “out with the old and in with the new” mindset when it comes to our wardrobes. The best way to have good style is to edit your wardrobe down to select pieces that feel effortlessly chic. Allow me to set an example. If you have 5 pairs of white jeans, keep the 3 that actually fit you well and look great to avoid looking frumpy on days when you grab your least favorite pair just because you haven’t worn them in a few months’ time.

Right now, I’m convincing all of my friends that if something doesn’t work or feel on-trend anymore, get rid of it. Make space for things that bring you joy. With that being said though, I’m all about sustainable practices so when I asked my coworkers for their thoughts on a spring wardrobe refresh I insisted that they suggest replacements that are absolutely timeless. I’m at a point with my closet where I’m only interested in buying into things that will last me for years to come and that’s how you should be too. Below, find the 7 things our editors are replacing their trend-driven and outdated pieces with.

  • 7 New Trends I Predict Will Have a Short Shelf Life (Sorry)

7 New Trends I Predict Will Have a Short Shelf Life (Sorry)

    [ad_1]

Disclaimer: This isn’t a story about trends that are “out” or anywhere near peaking. This is a story about new (or new-ish) trends that are very popular and not at risk of falling out of favor anytime soon. And why am I writing about these trends, you ask? The reason is fairly straightforward: Spending a lot of money on something you may not want to wear in a matter of months is not advised.

Fashion can be a bit subjective since style and taste are such personal things, but I’ve been a fashion editor for nine years and have seen many trends come and go in that amount of time. At this point, I can usually tell when certain ones will be long-lasting or more short-term, and it usually depends on how classic they are (the more specific ones don’t usually stick around as long) and how quickly they become over-saturated.

Below, I’ve highlighted seven new trends that I fully support trying but that I don’t advise splurging on since I don’t see them lasting for years. Scroll to shop an affordable version of each, as well as trends that I do think will stick around.

    I Test-Drove Spring’s Biggest Color Trends—These 5 Are Absolute Winners

    [ad_1]

Spring has finally arrived and what I am most excited about is finally embracing color into my wardrobe again. While I know you technically can wear colors no matter the season there’s something about the cold and grey of winter that just brings out more neutral colors than anything else. At least for me personally, I mean who wants to wear bright pink or pastel yellow when it’s the dead of winter with the sun going down at 4:00 pm, it just doesn’t feel right. But now that New York City has flowers that have been planted all over the city, the parks are starting to populate again, and having a cocktail outside is just in our midst. So with my excitement brewing to start having fun with my wardrobe again I did a little research on which color trends for spring I would want to try, and found 5 that were so good I had to give it a go.
