  • Which Spring Bouquet Are You? Your Petal & Pup Closet Will Tell

Sure, Americans might be foaming at the mouth for gingerbread lattes and dodging pumpkin decor like it’s a haunted maze, but flip the globe, and Australia’s just starting to bloom. Enter Petal & Pup—the Queensland-born boutique Tiffany Henry launched in 2014. Ever since, our closets have been showered in their flirty yet polished florals, basically making spring their home turf. Their Spring At Last collection proves it. So, we’re turning the spotlight to you: curate your own emoji flower bouquet. Each dress has its own flower emoji—pick three, and you’ll walk away with a bouquet and a cart suspiciously close to checkout-ready.

The Honey POP received samples from Petal & Pup in exchange for editorial promotion.

    🌸 Cherry Blossom

This pink-hued bloom is basically Spring’s opening act in Australia—popping up from late August into September (timing varies depending on where you’re standing with your oat latte, of course). It’s a no-brainer for our Petal & Pup bouquet. Pair it with the Avania Strapless Midi Dress and you’ve got a match made in floral heaven: crisp white fabric splattered with painterly red blossoms, all cinched with delicate shirring. The strapless neckline is begging for a cherry blossom-inspired necklace—because why stop at wearing flowers when you can literally layer them on?

    🌼 Daisy

When we say paper daisies, we’re not talking about the ones you glued together in craft class. We mean the real deal: those crinkly-textured blooms that pop up in Aussie spring. With pink-and-white petals circling golden centers, they spend their days sun-dancing and then live on forever as dried flowers without losing their glow. Talk about longevity. And while the classic yellow daisy has its moment, the Bernadine Maxi Dress steps in as the ultimate stand-in—mango-hued, breezy, and bold. Its tiered A-line skirt and shirred bodice bring just the right dose of texture, echoing the flower’s charm in fabric form.

    🌹 Rose

No flower can beat roses in the romance game—whether it’s clenched dramatically between your lover’s teeth or glowing under a Beauty and the Beast glass dome, every petal drips with storybook energy. Enter the Laurita Maxi Dress: chic, floaty, and basically Cupid’s wingman. Its maxi length skims the floor with that “effortless but thought-through” vibe, while the relaxed fit keeps things comfy enough for twirling across the room—or ghosting to the snack table. A subtle cinched waist adds shape without squeezing, wide straps balance the flow, and yes, there are pockets (aka the unsung hero) for slipping in numbers, lip gloss, or just your hands when you’re going for cool-girl nonchalance. It’s the kind of dress that doesn’t just whisper romance—it straight up writes the prologue.

    🪻 Hyacinth

If your emoji bouquet needs to smell like a dream, hyacinths are the pick. They’re basically spring in fragrance form—sweet, heady, and unforgettable. Fun mythological tidbit: the flower was said to have sprung from the blood of Hyacinthus, a Spartan prince adored by Apollo, god of music and light. Tragic for him, iconic for our bouquets. While hyacinths bloom in every shade of the rainbow, the blue ones are a dead ringer for Petal & Pup’s Amalia Top and Alara Mini Skirt. Think white canvas sprinkled with playful blue seashells: the top daring with a side split, the skirt flirty in mini-length with bonus pockets (because we all know dresses and skirts with pockets are a public service). Together, it’s a set that feels as breezy as a seaside afternoon but still polished enough to carry a myth or two of its own.

So, which flower trio made the cut? Copy-paste your emoji bouquet and drop it on our social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook—the classics), or go full Petal & Pup glam and flaunt your new outfits instead. Either way, we’re nosy—we need to know your faves.

  • 14 Chic Nordstrom Bags For Every Spring Occasion

14 Chic Nordstrom Bags For Every Spring Occasion

Coach Tabby 20 Quilted Leather Shoulder Bag ($395)

This cheery, quilted bag has a monochromatic look, thanks to the yellow hardware. Even the chain strap is braided with leather to incorporate the color. Our editor tested it out and was surprised by how many things she could carry in this compact shoulder bag. For more details, read her Coach Tabby 20 Quilted Leather Shoulder Bag review.

Editor quote: “First and foremost, I love just how much I can fit into this accessory, despite its compact size. The bag is deceptively spacious, with an exterior pocket, a zippered interior pocket, and three roomy divided sections on the inside. The interior is, in fact, big enough to fit everything from an iPhone 13 to a passport holder, sunglasses, car keys, emergency lipstick, and more. While I generally prefer large tote bags and oversize accessories that can hold the many essentials I travel with on a daily basis, this piece has surprised me in the best way — it’s smaller than virtually every bag in my closet and still manages to hold all of my everyday must haves.” — Kyley Warren, assistant editor, Commerce

  • The Perfect (Affordable!) Capsule Wardrobe for Your Spring Semester

The Perfect (Affordable!) Capsule Wardrobe for Your Spring Semester

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you purchase through our links. Please read our full disclosure here.

This post will show you how to curate the perfect spring capsule wardrobe for college.

Spring is here, and you may be feeling like your wardrobe could use a refresh. It’s time to shed those bulky winter layers in favor of lighter pieces — finally!

If you want to make getting dressed each day a total breeze, why not try a capsule wardrobe?

A capsule wardrobe is a curated collection of clothes, shoes, and accessories that can all be mixed and matched to create a variety of outfits.

Not only is a capsule wardrobe a time-saver, but it’s also budget-friendly (you won’t be jumping on every fashion trend, so you’ll be buying less) and it takes up less space in your closet (crucial since college closets are tiny).

So, if you’re ready to simplify your life by building a capsule wardrobe that is still extremely cute and college-friendly, read on!

Tops for Your Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Let’s start at the beginning: tops!

Tops are the capsule wardrobe item you will need the most of, since these are what will give your outfits the most variety.

For the spring, I would suggest the following items:

Basic tops like t-shirts and button-downs are the foundation for any capsule wardrobe, no matter what the season, since these are the most versatile and can be layered and accessorized in countless ways.

While basics are key, you’ll also need to have a couple of options that are a bit more dressy, especially for when you’re going out with friends or just want to look more polished.

For example, I love the chic design of mock neck and square neck tops, which look elevated. A black square-neck bodysuit (or top) can be worn day or night, as can a sleeveless mock-neck top in a neutral hue with a slim-fitting silhouette and ruching details.

Lastly, since this is a college capsule wardrobe, you’ll want at least one “fun” top for going out in, like a cropped corset top.

This one has lace trim and is an eye-catching (yet still somewhat neutral) hue of butter yellow, which, BTW, happens to be the *it* color of the season.

Bottoms for Your Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Next up is bottoms, the second-largest category of a capsule wardrobe.

You won’t need quite as many bottoms since they are more versatile than tops (i.e., jeans pair with just about any kind of top).

Here are the bottoms I recommend for your capsule wardrobe:

Jeans are an obvious must-have: invest in at least one classic blue pair with no rips, since these can be dressed up or down.

Opt for a straight-leg or loose-fitting style, and if you’re able to, I suggest a black or dark wash pair, too.

White and light-colored jeans are great for the spring, too!

Your next pair of pants will depend on your lifestyle: cargo pants for someone who doesn’t need to dress up much and prefers to be casual, or trouser pants for someone who wants to look more polished (like if you have an internship or job).

Cargo pants are a great option for both days spent on campus and going out at night — all you’ll need to do is swap your school-friendly top out for a crop top or bodysuit and you’ll be ready to party.

Since the weather begins to warm up in the spring, add a pair of casual shorts and a mini skirt or skort to your wardrobe.

A denim skort is going to give you the cute look of a mini skirt while being a bit more comfortable to move around in since it has the coverage of shorts and can be worn casually or dressed up.

This season, boxer-inspired shorts are a major trend, and they are surprisingly versatile and easy to style.

Finally, no college wardrobe is complete without some leggings, and in 2024, flared leggings are the way to go. You can wear these to class, the library, to hang out with friends, and for the gym, making them a closet necessity.

Dresses for Your Spring Wardrobe Capsule

Dresses for Your Spring Wardrobe CapsuleDresses for Your Spring Wardrobe Capsule

Products: Active Dress, Floral Dress, Tank Midi Dress

The number of dresses in your college capsule wardrobe will again depend on your lifestyle and personal style.

For example, if you like dressing in a girly, feminine way, you may want more dresses in your wardrobe than someone who prefers a more casual way of dressing.

Here are the basic dresses I recommend to start:

You can’t go wrong with a basic tank midi dress.

Similar to a basic tank top, this type of dress doesn’t go out of style and can be dressed up or down. It also pairs with any shoe style. Get one in a neutral hue like gray for max versatility.

An athletic dress (meaning one with attached shorts underneath) is another great option for working out or chilling. It’s stretchy and sweat-wicking and can be worn on its own or with a sweatshirt or jacket over it.

Since it is spring, after all, don’t forget about a cute spring dress like this floral print A-line mini sundress. It will look adorable for whatever your spring weekend plans bring, including brunches, date nights, and more.

Knitwear & Outerwear for Your Spring Capsule Wardrobe

As we know, the spring can still be a bit chilly, so you’ll still need some thicker outer layers to keep warm.

Here are the basics to have on hand:

Of course, every college girl needs (at least) one sweatshirt in her wardrobe; there’s just no beating the comfort and coziness of an oversized sweatshirt or hoodie, especially during late-night study sessions.

For knitwear, a classic pullover sweater and a cardigan sweater (both in neutral hues and/or prints) are items that you’ll be able to wear alone or layered over other items in your capsule wardrobe.

Springtime calls for light jackets, and a faux leather bomber jacket will give you the best of both worlds: the look of a faux leather jacket and the trend appeal of a bomber design.

If this isn’t quite your style, you could also consider a shacket or a classic trench coat, both of which are equally great options for the spring.

Accessories for Your Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Accessories are what are going to make all the difference when it comes to wearing vs. styling your outfits.

For example, with a few of the right additions, a basic white t-shirt can suddenly be transformed into a fashion-forward look.

You can also opt for trendier items when it comes to accessories, since these are easier (and generally less expensive) to swap in and out compared to the clothing in your capsule wardrobe.

Here’s what I would suggest for the spring semester:

Shoes for Your Spring Capsule Wardrobe

Lastly, let’s not forget about footwear!

Shoes are what you’ll need the least of, so long as you pick the right pairs that will match with the majority of your outfits and be practical for your college lifestyle.

Here are the three pairs that will work with everything:

The number one shoe you’ll need is a pair of sneakers that ideally can be worn both casually and for athletic activities.

A great example of a sneaker that works in just about every situation is the New Balance 530 style. These are just as good for working out as they are for a day of classes, and they are one of the season’s coolest sneakers to own.

Next, you’ll want a pair of casual flat sandals.

Whether you opt for Birkenstocks or some slide sandals in a neutral color, try to pick some that are as comfortable as they are cute. They’ll pair especially well with dresses, skirts, skorts, and shorts as the weather warms up.

As for dressing up, you’ll want a pair of simple yet chic nude-toned heels to elongate your legs and match all of your outfits.

These square-toe mules have a minimalist design that makes them ultra-versatile, but you could also go for ankle-strap sandals or pumps.

These three footwear styles should cover most of your bases, but if you want to add more variety, get some chunky loafers and/or a pair of ballet flats. Both of these can be worn day or night and casually or formally.

As a bonus, ballet flats happen to be one of this season’s hottest fashion trends!

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfits

Now that we’ve covered the contents of your spring capsule wardrobe for college, let’s put it all together!

Here are some outfit ideas to show you how versatile these pieces can be, and how stylish they look when put together.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #1

Spring Capsule College Outfit with jeans, sneakers, cardigan and t-shirtSpring Capsule College Outfit with jeans, sneakers, cardigan and t-shirt

Basic but with a cool, modern feel, this casual outfit is great for classes or laid-back weekend plans like a farmer’s market or hanging out with friends.

You can never go wrong with a simple white t-shirt and classic blue jeans with sneakers, but by adding a stylish cardigan and trendy accessories like a charm necklace and snapback baseball hat, the outfit is transformed into a cool, casual look.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #2

Spring Capsule College Outfit with skort and sandalsSpring Capsule College Outfit with skort and sandals

Heading to brunch or happy hour with friends? Wear one of your less basic (but still kind of basic — in a good way) tops with your denim skort and slide sandals.

This mock neck top is just the right amount of dressy and casual, and it will look adorable with the skort.

Be sure to add cute accessories like your crossbody bag and hoop earrings to jazz the outfit up.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #3

Spring Capsule College Outfit Dress and SneakersSpring Capsule College Outfit Dress and Sneakers

I love how versatile tank dresses are!

Wear yours on its own, or throw your button-down shirt over top for a lightweight spring layer.

For a laid-back vibe, pull the ensemble together with sneakers, a tote bag, and your baseball hat, or dress it up with slide sandals and a crossbody bag.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #4

Spring Capsule College Outfit Cargo Pants and BodysuitSpring Capsule College Outfit Cargo Pants and Bodysuit

Here’s an outfit you can wear day to night and look super cool no matter what.

Give your cargo pants a slightly dressier vibe by wearing them with your black square neck bodysuit and the faux leather bomber jacket on top.

The jacket provides more coverage for casual daytime vibes (along with sneakers), but if you head out on the town, take it off to show off the bodysuit’s sleek silhouette and your sparkly jewelry.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #5

Spring Capsule College Outfit Floral DressSpring Capsule College Outfit Floral Dress

It doesn’t get more “spring-y” than this outfit!

Dress up the sweet floral print A-line mini dress with a matching yellow crossbody bag and some nude heeled sandals.

Along with some cute sunnies and chunky earrings, this outfit is as cute as it gets.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #6

Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Cardigan and ShortsSpring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Cardigan and Shorts

One of my favorite spring trends in 2024 is boxer-inspired shorts, which are equal parts trendy yet practical.

They are so easy to throw on, ultra-comfortable to wear, and can be worn now through the summertime with a bunch of different looks.

For the spring, try styling them with casual sneakers, a t-shirt, and a cardigan sweater.

This combination, along with cool sunglasses, a graphic tote bag, and jewelry, is giving “eclectic grandpa” aesthetic vibes in the best way.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #7

Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Jeans Going Out TopSpring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Jeans Going Out Top

The perfect spring going out outfit doesn’t exi— yes, it does!

As I previously mentioned, butter yellow is the ultimate color of this spring season. Embrace it by wearing a cute yellow crop top with a corset-like design, along with a matching crossbody bag.

When styled with jeans, some neutral-colored heeled sandals, and metal jewelry, you will look incredible the next time you hit the town.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #8

Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Skort Button Down Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Skort Button Down

Step into spring with a crisp white button-down shirt tucked into a denim skort.

This skort features an asymmetrical wrap front, meaning it looks like a skirt from the front and shorts from the back for a unique look.

Accessorize with sunglasses, a canvas tote bag, and a pendant necklace. Slip into your slide sandals, and you’ll be good to go.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #9

Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Cargo Pants Long SleeveSpring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Cargo Pants Long Sleeve

The best way to ensure the success of your capsule wardrobe is to opt for items in similar color palettes, especially neutrals, which match almost anything.

This light gray long-sleeve top perfectly complements the darker gray shade of the cargo pants. When styled with sneakers and a baseball hat, it gives off a cool, street-style vibe.

I love this outfit for a day spent on campus, running errands, or hanging out with friends.

    Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit #10

Spring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit AthleisureSpring Capsule Wardrobe Outfit Athleisure

Some days, especially in college, you just want to keep your outfit as chill as possible. At the same time, you don’t want to look like a total mess.

    Enter this athleisure-inspired look.

It is ultra-comfy but still looks put-together thanks to these coordinating items (which is the beauty of a capsule wardrobe, after all!).

Keep it laid-back with flared leggings, sneakers, and a long-sleeve t-shirt in a light gray or white color.

Next, toss on an oversized sweatshirt (or hoodie) with a graphic print on the front and a baseball hat to disguise any bad hair days.

You’ll be as comfortable as can be while still looking put-together.

20 Festival Season Essentials, From Face Gems to Cowboy Boots

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

For some, festival season style essentials like crop tops and vintage denim are kept at the ready all year long. But for spring and summer 2024 in particular, it’s no surprise that ’90s fashion is heavily influencing shopping habits. Fans of the fashion era have a newfound affinity for baggy cargo pants, oversize jeans, naked dresses, and — of course — corsets. Y2K-inspired looks are also trickling into the festival realm, so if classic bohemian staples like cowboy boots, fringe, and crochet aren’t for you, you have slightly more contemporary options.

We scoured many of our favorite labels known for festivalwear to see what’s selling ahead of the concerts to come and can confirm that wardrobes are skewing more and more toward personal taste, whether it’s decorative makeup products and face gems or the best sneakers for getting around. That being said, there are plenty of universally versatile essentials such as face SPF, affordable, hands-free bags, collapsible water bottles, and even handheld fans that you simply can’t go without when you’re hitting up a music festival in the sweltering heat.

Ahead, check out some of our go-to products for festival season, some of which have been recently rated and reviewed by our editors, then shop the best Levi’s jeans and sunglasses if you need to round out your wardrobe even more.

  • I’m a fashion writer and this spring dress made me break my no-spend month

I’m a fashion writer and this spring dress made me break my no-spend month

Those heavy-duty jumper dresses you’ve had on rotation recently have no doubt done you and your wardrobe proud, but may we present their next of kin: spring dresses. Do-it-all silhouettes that’ll bridge the gap before it’s time to whip out those much-loved summer dresses, spring frocks are actually much more of a wardrobe essential than you might have thought.

If you’re someone who looks to easy, throw-on outfits throughout the warmer months (who can blame you after a season of layering?), then staples like jeans, knitwear, blazers and shirts will likely no longer suffice. Spring dresses, however, are something you should make room for.

One such dress that hits the transitional dressing criteria, and is already selling out, is H&M’s tie-back rib-knit dress. A long-sleeved ribbed maxi rendered in a creamy white hue, it adheres to all the SS24 trends – hello, sheer whites – and then some, plus it’s warm enough to forgo tights (finally) yet still super floaty. We picture it with a pair of chunky sandals and an oversized shoulder bag.

Fans of The Devil Wears Prada might suggest that a floral dress isn’t anything new for spring, but even Miranda Priestly would deem the rosy prints found across the catwalk collections of Richard Quinn, Alexander McQueen, Simone Rocha, RIXO and Farm Rio ‘groundbreaking’.

Elsewhere, it seems that denim is no longer reserved for your best jeans. We’ve fallen in love with the denim dresses spotted at Marks & Spencer, Nobody’s Child and Aligne, and plan to wear them with cowboy boots all season long.

How we chose the best spring dresses

Our top tip: look for styles with long sleeves and a short hemline, or sleeveless midi/maxi styles (or vice versa). This is much less of a shock to the system after a few months of covering up entirely, as you’ll only be exposing one area of your skin, and creates a nice temperature regulation when the weather can’t make its mind up. All of the dresses we’ve picked below tick that box, and can easily be layered with a trench coat should we all be fooled by a ‘false spring’.

I’m a Shopping Editor & This Brand’s Outlet Deals Are All You Need for Spring

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, StyleCaster may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

As a shopping editor and someone who loves clothes, I’m always paying attention to trends and eyeing pieces for my wardrobe. If you ask me, spring is the hardest season to dress for. Do I still need a jacket to go outside? Can I wear a skirt without freezing? Thankfully, Reiss’ outlet deals are here to elevate your closet and help you save some coin.

Let’s start with what to look for when shopping for springtime. It truly depends on where you live, but in general, blouses, sweaters, light jackets, trousers, and jeans come to mind for this season. If you’re blessed with warm temps in March, April, and May, then you might even be able to get away with skirts, dresses, and shorts (lucky you!). Which online store carries all of the above? Reiss, of course!

ICYMI, Reiss has an outlet section that has deals on deals. And I’m not talking tiny 15 percent off discounts; the brand offers steep markdowns on all of the garments in this section. Where else can you get a leather shearling jacket for half price or a light blazer for 60 percent off?

Ahead, I share the eight Reiss outlet deals I’m keeping tabs on for spring, and they should be on your radar, too!

Reiss Melody Reversible Leather Shearling Zip-Through Jacket
    Reiss.

Ever since I thrifted my favorite oversized, black bomber jacket, I can say with full confidence that a black leather jacket is an absolute must-have in any spring wardrobe. They’re not too light but not too heavy, plus, they go with pretty much every outfit you can think of. The Melody jacket is the type of garment you’ll have in your closet for several years to come, and how could you turn down its 50 percent discount?

Reiss Millie Knitted Ribbed Midi Dress
    Reiss.

I love the pop of color in this midi dress, especially because it’s a cobalt, electric blue shade. A knitted dress is the perfect way to look sophisticated and stay warm at the same time. Add this stylish number to your cart for 32 percent off.

Reiss Maya Tailored Fit Single Breasted Suit Blazer
    Reiss.

There’s something incredibly light, airy, and elegant about a white or off-white blazer, and even more so while the seasons are changing. This suit blazer would look so chic with matching pants, gold jewelry, and pumps. It also just happens to have the steepest markdown on this list. I mean, $475 to $189? Say less.

Reiss Amber Halter Neck Tie Detail Midi Dress
    Reiss.

While I don’t have any weddings on the calendar, if I did, I would absolutely slip into this beautiful blue one from Reiss. I’m in love with the color but also the halter neckline and the little twist detail at the front. A discounted $200 price tag for a wedding guest or special occasion dress isn’t too shabby if you ask me.

Reiss Cara Wide Leg Mid Rise Trousers
    Reiss.

These bright red trousers are the definition of statement pants thanks to their hue and sleek silhouette. Pairing them with another vibrant sweater in a contrasting color could most certainly be a recipe for success. Oh! And they’re under $150 as we speak.

Reiss Lenni Sheer Knitted Long Sleeve Top
    Reiss.

I’m always game for a black shirt that’s actually way more than just a black shirt, if you know what I mean. This one is made of a knitted fabric, features a fitted silhouette, and is also sheer. Now that I think about it, style it with the red trousers above for a the most eye-catching look. $139 might sound like a lot to pay for a black shirt, but trust me, this kind of top will come in clutch time after time.

Reiss Lucia Relaxed Double Breasted Wool Blindseam Coat
    Reiss.

A double breasted coat has been on my shopping wishlist for what feels like an eternity. This one can no doubt help dress up any spring look. For half-off, you know what to do!

Reiss Gazelle Casual Wool-Cashmere Funnel Neck Sleeveless Top
    Reiss.

I couldn’t forget to include a sweater in this list of my fave (and marked down) spring styles from Reiss! Sleeveless sweaters are perfect for weather that isn’t crazy hot or crazy cold yet, and this one screams “quiet luxury”, if that’s your vibe for spring.

  • The Age of Elegance: How Opulent Fashion Is Set to Define 2024

The Age of Elegance: How Opulent Fashion Is Set to Define 2024

In 2023, restrained minimalism was a major theme—the much-discussed quiet luxury trend defined by simple silhouettes, few logos, and “if you know, you know” pieces. While those pared-back looks are timeless and will always be in style, it’s clear that we’re starting to pivot away from restrained dressing. Instead, we saw a shift toward hyper-elegant fashion in the spring summer 2024 ready-to-wear and spring 2024 couture collections.

Altuzarra sent models down the runway in heavy satin evening coats, A-line circle skirts, and refined scoop-neck midi dresses that took inspiration from the 1968 film Rosemary’s Baby. Dior reimagined its iconic hourglass-shaped bar jacket, originally designed in 1947, aptly named for its intended use during afternoon cocktail hour. Hermès brought the Plume bag back to the runway—one of the fashion house’s earliest handbag designs from the 1960s. Prada debuted frothy pastel organza dresses with dramatic trains that walked the runway to the soundtrack from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 film Vertigo.

There is a sense of looking back to the way people used to dress in a bygone time that is really sticking on and off the runways. The timing is interesting, too, from a cultural standpoint. The much-anticipated show Feud: Capote vs. The Swans was just released, chronicling Truman Capote and the glamorous socialites of ’50s and ’60s New York. As Rachel Tashjian puts it in the Washington Post, “Ladies who lunch have become 2024’s unexpected fashion icons,” as lust for the glamour of a previous era has returned.

Simply put, we’re entering the age of elegance, and 2024 is marking the return of fashion that is opulent and refined and may just make us want to get dressed up again. Ahead, read more on how elegant fashion will impact what we’re wearing.

  • Maxis! Pencils! Sheer! 2024’s Skirt Trends Have Officially Arrived

Maxis! Pencils! Sheer! 2024’s Skirt Trends Have Officially Arrived

For the past several seasons, designers have been putting skirts into full focus, anchoring their collections around a few key skirt styles. This includes Tory Burch’s gauzy sheer styles, Miu Miu’s pleated schoolgirl-esque skirts, and the voluminous A-line silhouettes at Prada. For spring 2024, designers are only doubling down on their fascination with these outfit-making skirts, and there are so many fresh styles on deck for the season ahead.

After combing through the runways, my social media feeds, and the market, I’ve landed on the eight skirt trends that I’m positive will have a long-term effect on 2024 and beyond. With beautiful heavy-satin skirts inspired by the Altuzarra runway and the elegant A-line styles that are currently having a renaissance, consider this list to be your North Star for all things stylish 2024 skirting.

Apparently, No One’s Wearing These Spring Dresses Anymore—Shop These 7 Instead

As cold as it feels outside (which, trust me, is cold), spring will eventually appear, and for most people, its arrival will come with the realization that their warm-weather wardrobes are in desperate need of a 2024 refresh. I like to think of myself as a pretty timeless dresser and shopper, and I still know for a fact that by the time the first nice day rolls around, the contents of my spring bins will feel at least slightly like old news. So rather than let spring sneak up on me like I have so many times before, I’m getting proactive about my wardrobe for the upcoming season—starting with dresses.

In an effort to distract myself from the cold this week, I cozied up inside and drew up a spring-dress plan, deciding which styles I no longer need in my closet and which I should fill those empty hangers with. After consulting friends, fellow editors, and, of course, Instagram, I came to the conclusion that the seven dress trends below are officially on the outs with the fashion crowd. Scroll down to find out which ones are getting the axe and find seven alts to buy instead.

  • The Verdict Is In: Experts Told Us What Will Be Big in Fashion for Spring 2024

The Verdict Is In: Experts Told Us What Will Be Big in Fashion for Spring 2024

“Shorts are a key piece for spring, as seen on the Isabel Marant, Khaite, and Prada runways, ranging from Bermuda styles that hit just above the knee to those with micro mini hemlines. We saw this trend on early adapters last year, whether it was the hyper-editorial ‘no pants trend’ shorts paired with tights and long wool coats, or longer tailored styles worn with matching blazers and tall boots. There’s excitement to show some leg, and as the weather warms up, expect shorts to be everywhere.” —April Hennig, Chief Merchandising Officer, Moda Operandi

  • I'm Already Wardrobe-Planning for Spring—30 Essentials on My Must-Buy List

I'm Already Wardrobe-Planning for Spring—30 Essentials on My Must-Buy List

Given that the spring collections debuted nearly six months ago, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that I’ve had my wardrobe for the long-awaited return to warmth planned out for quite some time now. It takes time to perfect. Since fashion is famous for working way ahead, I’ve had plenty of time to ruminate on and save up for all the covetable items I’ve spotted in the lead-up to spring’s return.

Taking inspiration from the runways—think satin heels à la Prada and Altuzarra—vintage mood boards heavily featuring the likes of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, Gisele Bündchen, Carla Bruni, and stylists who got their hands on the spring collections first, I’ve managed to build a perfect “no item missed” list for the season ahead. This way, if your spring fashion interests line up in any way with mine, you can simply and efficiently check off each item as you make it yours right along with me. I suggest starting with the first one. (Bonus: It’s already on sale!)
