With antisemitism on the rise, many Jewish Americans and Israelis in Los Angeles are taking steps to protect themselves and their families … and some are turning to firearms.
Eric Fletcher, a manager for Burbank Ammo and Guns, tells TMZ … the shop has recently seen a huge influx of Jewish Americans and Israelis who are buying guns for the first time.
We’re told many of the first-time gun owners are women, and sometimes entire families are coming to the gun shop together.
The numbers are staggering … the manager says this month alone the store has processed 194 firearm safety certificate tests and counting, compared to just 45 in October 2022, and the manager estimates 75% of the folks coming in now are Jewish Americans or Israelis.
The safety tests are required for anyone buying a gun for the first time … so the numbers represent first-time gun buyers.
At Burbank Ammo and Guns, handguns are the most popular firearm purchased … and we’re told stock is running low and the shop is doing its best to keep up with increased demand.
While there’s a war between Israel and Hamas a world away, in America there’s been a recent wave of attacks on the Jewish community. According to the advocacy group Anti-Defamation League, antisemitic incidents in the U.S. have risen by almost 400% since Hamas attacked Israel.
It’s a pretty crazy time in our lives … the gun store manager says the shop hasn’t been this busy since the pandemic began.
The woman everyone called “Gorilla Glue Girl” — after going viral for dangerously trading hairspray for the adhesive — has big news, but it ain’t another sticky fiasco … she’s engaged!
Tessica Brown tells TMZ … she said “yes” to her boyfriend of over 2 years, Brymon Brocks. They first met at her dad’s church and, clearly, hit it off.
We’re told Brymon proposed to Tessica at her home in Violet, Louisiana on her birthday earlier this month … and they’re both extremely happy for the next chapter in their lives.
Who can forget Tessica’s infamous moment in 2021 when she dropped jaws on TikTok … saying her hair was rock solid for a month after using Gorilla Glue.

@im_d_ollady/Tik Tok
She told us at the time she was embarrassed and stressed over the whole thing and checked into an ER for help — eventually needing surgical repairs on her scalp.
Congrats on the engagement, Tessica … just make sure you hire someone to do your hair on the day of the wedding — no more DIY disasters!!!
Magic Johnson just joined the 10-figure club — and he’s in the prestigious company as only one of a few athletes to reach the achievement … so says Forbes, anyway.
The famed magazine — which prides itself on keeping tabs on stars’ fortunes — says their new tally on the Laker great has now made him an official billionaire … and he’s got change to spare with the title. According to them, Earvin’s estimated net worth is around $1.2 bil.
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
They say his massive wealth post-basketball comes as a result of a hodgepodge of investments he’s made over the years — and if you know anything about Magic, that tracks.
The dude’s a partial owner in a number of pro sports teams — including the Dodgers, the Sparks, MLS’ LAFC and more recently … the NFL’s Washington Commanders. Interestingly enough, though, these minority owner stakes aren’t what make him rich-rich here.
Apparently, it’s Magic’s 60% stake in a life insurance company called EquiTrust … which he snapped up in 2015. The company’s been booming in profits since then — and he’s rolling in the dough as a result.
There are more investments Magic’s made that tipped him over the edge … including movie theater chains he’s bought into, as well as a Starbucks partnership he entered into a while back. He’s also got an extra minority stake in a PepsiCo bottling plant outside of D.C.
Of course, he’s also a media mogul … not to mention an incredibly recognizable face just about everywhere he goes — which probably helps when he gets booked for appearances.
Like we said, Magic hitting this benchmark puts him in an exclusive group among 3 other athletes in the billionaire stratosphere … that’d be LeBron James, Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. Now Magic’s there too — and to be honest, it was probably a long time coming.
The guy’s been living a life of luxury for a while now … well-deserved. Congrats!!!
Bill Maher was on a tear Friday night, acknowledging a deep state but not the one people talk about.
The ‘Real Time’ host got real … it’s become impossible in the United States to build anything — houses, windmills, toilets, you name it — without jumping through endless hoops of overregulation by legislators and bureaucrats.
BM offers a slew of examples … a toilet in San Francisco that cost $1.7 million. He says it’s needed because the people s**ting and pissing on the sidewalk have been disturbing people breaking into cars.
In S.F., anyone who wants to build a home must secure 87 permits.
And there’s this … Wyoming is building the largest wind farm in North America, but it took 18 years to get approval to START building. As Bill says, when the first paperwork was filled out Leo’s GF wasn’t even born.
Bill has some history here … it took him more than a year to get solar at his house, and he let the world know — many times!
He says our great country is becoming another Gulliver … watch as he explains.
While some stars go risqué for Halloween — perhaps a big night out on the town in a sexy costume — some famous folks take a more kid-friendly approach and keep it to the classic dress-up and trick-or-treating around the block 🎃!
Just last year, Shawn Johnson East, Tom Brady, Tamera Mowry and more celebs put their heads together and absolutely nailed their costume choices … executing top-notch looks!
“How I Met Your Mother” actor Neil Patrick Harris cooked up some stellar fast-food icons with his husband David Burkta and their 2 kiddos … reppin’ McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s and KFC.
“Vanderpump Rules” star Scheana Shayand her posse showed off their “scary feet” — cutely posing on the staircase — dressed up as James, Mike And Boo from “Monster’s Inc.”
Ain’t nothing wrong with keeping it low-key with the fam on Halloween … it’s the little things, right?!
Robert Card, the guy cops say is the Maine mass shooter, has a military background … earning medals in the Army Reserve despite never seeing combat.
Card enlisted in the Army Reserve way back in 2002, working as a petroleum supply specialist.
During his service, Card was awarded several medals … including the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, 2 Army Reserve Component Achievement Medals and the Army Service Ribbon.
Card’s duties as a petroleum supply specialist made him responsible for receiving, storing and shipping petroleum-based products … making sure the fuel was transported and handled safely and properly dispensed in various Armed Forces vehicles and aircraft.
The Army Reserve’s online job listing for Card’s position promotes the job like this … “As a Petroleum Supply Specialist, you’ll supply the Army with the fuel it needs to maintain a state of readiness at all times.”
CNN
As we reported … cops are on the hunt for Card, with police saying he went on a shooting rampage at a bowling alley and a bar in Maine, killing at least 18 people and injuring 13.
Card allegedly used an AR-15-style rifle in Wednesday’s mass shooting … and now there’s an ever-expanding, and desperate, search to find him.
Britney Spears stands to make a fortune off her memoir, because TMZ has learned she’s pulling in 25% of the net profits from the book.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ, the 25% Britney is getting should cover the advance she got — $12.5 million. There have been reports she received a $15 million advance, but we know it’s $12.5 mil.
“The Woman in Me” is selling at $23.05 a pop on Amazon from its original $32.99 price … $16.99 for Kindle. The audio CD goes for $29.69 a pop.
More than 400,000 copies have been sold, and the trajectory could take the book north of a million.
Our sources say the unsung hero in the success of the book is Britney’s best friend/manager Cade Hudson. Multiple sources tell TMZ, Hudson repeatedly pushed Britney to write and finish the book. There were times she wanted nothing to do with it, but Hudson pushed her and eventually — belatedly — it happened.
Britney thanks Hudson in her acknowledgment in the memoir.
LeBron Jamespulled out all the stops for his first fashion statement of the 2023-24 season … rocking over $28,000 worth of Louis Vuitton for opening night!!
King James — who is entering his 21st season — clearly wanted to come up with a special look for the Los Angeles Lakers opening game against the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena … and he certainly didn’t disappoint.
The 19-time All-Star forward is covered in Louis V … from the $5k damoflage tweed chic collarless jacket and $1,250 pants to the $1,220 LV checker derby kicks.
He didn’t stop there — the Speedy Bandouliere 40 he’s holding comes with an $11k price tag, and the briefcase will set the Average Joe back another $9,500.
So yeah, Bron’s whole look is fit for a king.
BTW, some of those pieces LBJ is wearing are from Pharrell‘s men’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection. The famous producer/rapper became the high-end brand’s new men’s creative director in February … anddebuted his items in Paris this summer.
James wasn’t the only player showing up in style on Tuesday — Michael Porter Jr. wore a signed Peyton Manning Broncos jersey … and Peyton Watson was reppin’ Deion Sanderswith his own autographed “Coach Prime” gear.
High flyer Aaron Gordon also put his interesting taste on display … going with a sleeveless burgundy blazer and shorts.
As for James’ look … anyone who wants to get their hands on the same items will have to wait just a bit — pre-order sales start the first week of December.
Guess you can call him Louis Vuitton Bron moving forward!!
Taylor Swift might just be Travis Kelce‘s good luck charm — especially when his team’s playing at home, which they are today … and which TayTay is on hand for yet again.
The singer is in Arrowhead Stadium right now as the Chiefs play the Chargers, and like she has been these past few weeks … Taylor’s up in a private suite rooting for her man. She hasn’t been explicitly shouted out in the CBS broadcast just yet — but footage of her in the building is already surfacing.
One clip posted by the NFL shows her dancing around with Patrick Mahomes‘ wife, Brittany, and their baby … and it looks like Pat’s little brother, Jackson, is right behind them there.
Taylor’s in Chiefs gear, per usual … this marks her 3rd time coming to KC to see TK.
Going to Travis’s games has become a bit of a tradition for Taylor now … which just further confirms how serious she and the Chiefs tight end are becoming. She’s already gone to a total of 4 of his games this season (this one included) and all signs point to her continuing.
Remember, it all started with TS swinging by back in late September — which marked her initial appearance … where she cozied up next to Travis’ mom, Donna. Since then she’s shown up in NJ for the Chiefs game against the Jets … bringing along celeb pals.
Seeing how she’s out there again right now … you could argue she’s becoming a bit of a regular. And assuming the relationship goes on for much longer, locals can probably get used to seeing her more and more.
So far, it doesn’t appear the announcers have made much mention of Taylor being in attendance today … which could be reflective of some NFL fans groaning over that lately.
There’s still a lot more football to go, though … so we’ll see if they name-drop her.
Influencer Eugenia Cooney‘s very thin physique has resulted in her local police getting bombarded with calls and emails … but we’re told the YouTuber isn’t in any sort of danger.
Concern for Eugenia’s well-being ramped up in recent weeks after she posted TikToks of her dancing — with many in the comments focusing less on the moves and more on her appearance.
A story also came out about her, sparking even more concern — Greenwich Police Sergeant Brent Reeves tells TMZ … calls and emails have been coming into his department about Eugenia from all over the world — even getting people calling from as far away as Egypt and New Zealand.
We’re told the callers are looking to make sure she’s doing okay and isn’t being forced by her mom to make content and keep up her appearance — a couple of things that Sgt. Reeves says are untrue.
Sgt. Reeves says he’s known Eugenia for more than a decade and they have a good relationship … they even have a special code. She puts a certain object in her videos so he knows everything is alright.
If that object isn’t there, however, he’ll know to get her help.
The Sarge says Eugenia has always been skinny … adding they can’t really make her eat more if she’s at the size that makes her comfortable. He says she’s of sound mind and always has a bubbly personality when he chats with her.
Other agencies have checked on her in the past, but we’re told she’s never met the criteria to force her to get any kind of help.
This isn’t the first time fans have been asking Eugenia to get help — people have reached out over the years, notably in 2019 when YouTube star PewDiePie asked his followers to send her words of positivity.
TikTok / @eugeniaxxcooney
She’s also spoken out in the past about being put on a 5150 hold by her friends when she lived in California … saying in 2020 she felt betrayed and ambushed.
Despite online speculation, Sgt. Reeves tells us Eugenia does eat — he says she especially likes chicken sandwiches.
Marlon Wayans says he should have never been hit with a citation for disturbing the peace at an airport earlier this year … claiming it should be thrown out because his reaction was justified after being racially targeted.
The comedian’s attorney filed to dismiss the case Thursday, saying the United Airlines agent at the Denver airport targeted him back in June based on his race.
6/9/23
TMZ.com
Remember, Marlon wasn’t allowed to board his flight to Kansas City with 3 bags, and was removed from the aircraft after getting into it with the agent while trying to consolidate to 2 bags.
His attorney also said several white passengers with 3 bags were allowed to board the plane while his client was receiving the heat.
Marlon was hit with a citation for disturbing the peace … but his attorney says Denver prosecutors would be turning a blind eye to blatant racial targeting if they don’t dismiss the case.

Marlon joined us on “TMZ Live” just days after the incident, breaking down what happened from his perspective — and telling us the company did reach out to him, but only to back their own policy.
BTW, Marlon spoke with us outside a Delta terminal — and he told us exactly why he’ll try to fly with them instead of United from now on.
Kevin Durant, one of the NBA’s biggest stars, has come out to support players using marijuana and revealed that he wants the league to lift its ban on marijuana.
Stating that he believes marijuana should be treated like alcohol, Durant said that other players could benefit from using marijuana.
“I actually called [Adam Silver] and advocated for him to take marijuana off the banned substances list. I felt like it was becoming a thing around the country and around the world. The stigma behind it wasn’t as negative as it was before. It doesn’t affect you in a negative way. He agreed… I just enjoy the plant, it’s simple as that,” he said in an event sponsored by CNBC and The Boardroom.
Durant also spoke about his meeting with Adam Silver, saying, “Well, he smelled it when I walked in. So I didn’t really have to say much, you know what I’m saying?”
“He kind of understood where this was going…It’s the NBA, man… everybody does it, to be honest. It’s like wine at this point,” the Phoenix Suns superstar added.

NEW YORK (AP) — The WNBA is working with Brittney Griner and the Phoenix Mercury on travel options including charter flights going forward.
Griner’s travel was back in the spotlight last week when the team took a flight to Texas and then Indiana, requiring Griner and her Mercury teammates to go through commercial airports. While going through a Dallas airport last Saturday, the All-Star center who had been detained in Russia for nearly 10 months was harassed by what the WNBA called a “provocateur.”
The league doesn’t allow teams to use charter flights except for when they have back-to-back games.
Many teams have been using public charter airline JSX. Those flights are allowed by the WNBA with certain protocols in place, including that teams fly on the 30-seat planes using preset routes and times.
The Mercury flew to their first road game in Los Angeles on JSX and took the airline to Dallas. There wasn’t a standard flight available on the airline from Dallas to Indianapolis, which was why Griner was on the commercial flight.
Questions remain about who would pay for it if the WNBA allows Griner to fly privately. And also if the league allows Phoenix to use JSX to fly to any of the other 11 cities that teams play in by creating their own flights, how other teams would view that since it would give the Mercury a potential competitive advantage.
The league said Griner’s security has been an ongoing concern since before the season began. League officials were talking with Mercury officials and the seven-time All-Star’s representatives about how to protect Griner and her teammates following the highly publicized legal case, during which she was jailed in Russia on drug charges before being freed in December in a prisoner exchange.
The league granted Griner permission to book her own charter flights before the season started.
“We’re just working with Phoenix to make sure we have a good plan going forward,” WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said Friday on ESPN, “certainly for Brittney and for the rest of the Phoenix Mercury.”
The executive director of the WNBA players’ union talked to Griner on Thursday and said she was frustrated.
“She said, ‘We knew this was going to happen,’” Terri Jackson said. “She said: ‘Terri, I read the mail that comes to my locker. It’s fan mail, but it’s also a lot of hate mail.’”
The Mercury currently are on a two-game road trip to Washington and New York. Griner didn’t play in Friday’s loss to the Mystics because of a hip injury.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown, the unstoppable running back who retired at the peak of his brilliant career to become an actor as well as a prominent civil rights advocate during the 1960s, has died. He was 87.
A spokeswoman for Brown’s family said he passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home on Thursday night with his wife, Monique, by his side.
One of the greatest players in football history and one of the game’s first superstars, Brown was chosen the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 1965 and shattered the league’s record books in a short career spanning 1957-65.
Brown led the Cleveland Browns to their last NFL title in 1964 before retiring in his prime after the ’65 season to become an actor. He appeared in more than 30 films, including “Any Given Sunday” and “The Dirty Dozen.”
An unstoppable runner with power, speed and endurance, Brown’s arrival sparked the game’s burgeoning popularity on television.
Jim Brown Forever 🧡🤎♾️
Legend. Leader. Activist. Visionary.
It’s impossible to describe the profound love and gratitude we feel for having the opportunity to be a small piece of Jim’s incredible life and legacy. We mourn his passing, but celebrate the indelible light he… pic.twitter.com/F2rrTUnsc1
As Black Americans fought for equality, Brown used his platform and voice to advance their cause.
In 1967, Brown organized a meeting in Cleveland of the nation’s top Black athletes, including Bill Russell and Lew Alcindor, who later became Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, to support boxer Muhammad Ali’s fight against the war in Vietnam.
In later years, he worked to curb gang violence in LA and founded Amer-I-Can, a program to help disadvantaged inner-city youth and ex-convicts.

On the field, there was no one like Brown, who would blast through would-be tacklers, refusing to let one man take him down before sprinting away from linebackers and defensive backs. He was also famous for using a stiff arm to shed defenders in the open field or push them away like they were rag dolls.
“My arms were like my protectors and weapons,” Brown said during an interview with NFL Films.
Indeed, Brown was unlike any back before him, and some feel there has never been anyone better than Cleveland’s incomparable No. 32. At 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, he was dominant, relentless and without mercy, his highlight reels featuring runs around and right through opponents, fighting for every yard, dragging multiple defenders along or finding holes where none seemed to exist.
After Brown was tackled, he’d slowly rise and walk even more slowly back to the huddle — then dominate the defense when he got the ball again.

Off the field, Brown was a contentious character.
While he had a soft spot for those in need, and his generosity changed lives, he also was arrested a half-dozen times, mostly on charges of hitting women.
In June 1999, Brown’s wife, Monique, called 911, saying Brown had smashed her car with a shovel and threatened to kill her. During the trial, Monique Brown recanted. Jim Brown was acquitted of a charge of domestic threats but convicted of misdemeanor vandalism. The Los Angeles judge sentenced Brown to six months in jail when he refused to attend domestic violence counseling.
He also feuded with Browns coach Paul Brown and later with the team’s management, although he played his entire career with Cleveland.

When his playing days ended, Brown set off for Hollywood and eventually settled there. Brown advised Cleveland coach Blanton Collier of his retirement while the team was in training camp and he was on the set of “The Dirty Dozen” in England.
Among his films were “100 Rifles,” “Mars Attacks!” Spike Lee’s “He Got Game,” Oliver Stone’s “Any Given Sunday,” and the satire “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka,” in which he parodied the blaxploitation genre. In 2002, Brown was the subject of Lee’s HBO documentary “Jim Brown: All-American.”
In recent years, Brown’s relationship with the Browns was inconsistent. He served as an adviser to owner Randy Lerner and was hired to counsel the team’s younger players. However, in 2010, Brown parted ways with the team after having his role reduced by incoming team president Mike Holmgren. Brown felt slighted by the perceived demotion — when the club unveiled a “Ring of Honor” inside its downtown stadium, Brown didn’t attend the ceremony in protest.
Brown was an eight-time All-Pro and went to the Pro Bowl in each of his nine years in the league. When Brown walked away from the game at age 30, he held the league’s records for yards (12,312) and touchdowns (126).
And despite his bruising style, Browns never missed a game, playing in 118 straight.
“He told me, ‘Make sure when anyone tackles you he remembers how much it hurts,’” said Hall of Fame tight end John Mackey. “He lived by that philosophy and I always followed that advice.”

A two-sport star at Syracuse — some say he is the best lacrosse player in NCAA history — Brown endured countless racist taunts while playing at the virtually all-white school at the time. Still, he was an All-American in both sports, leading the nation in scoring, and lettered in basketball.
Brown was the sixth overall pick of the 1957 draft, joining a team that routinely played for the title. He was the Offensive Rookie of the Year that season.
Running behind an offensive line featuring Hall of Fame tackles Lou Groza and Mike McCormack, Brown set a league mark with 1,527 yards and scored 17 TDs on his way to the league’s Most Outstanding Player award — a precursor to the MVP — in 1958. Over the next three seasons, he never ran for less than 1,257 yards before picking up just 996 in 1962.
He led the NFL in rushing eight times, gaining a career-best 1,863 yards in 1963. He averaged 104 yards per game, scored 106 rushing touchdowns and averaged an astonishing 5.2 yards per carry. A dangerous receiver as well, Brown finished with 262 catches for 2,499 yards and another 20 TDs.
“I’ve said many times, and I will always say, Jim Brown is the best,” Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers once said, “and he will still be the best long after all his records are broken.”
Packers great Paul Hornung felt Brown was unstoppable.
“Give me Jim Brown over anybody — at anything,” he said.

Brown’s No. 32 was retired by the Browns in ’71, the same year he entered the Hall of Fame. But he rarely visited Cleveland during the 1970s and ’80s. He and Cleveland owner Art Modell were at odds over his sudden retirement; the two later patched up their differences and remained good friends.
Brown supported Modell’s decision to move Cleveland’s franchise to Baltimore in 1995. It was both a reflection of his loyalty to Modell and another sign of his fierce independence. Brown was one of the few former Browns players not angry with Modell for moving the team.
Many of the modern players couldn’t appreciate Brown or his impact on American sports.
“They have grown up in a different era,” former Browns coach Romeo Crennel said. “He’s one of the greatest players in NFL history and what he was able to accomplish in his time was tremendous. I don’t know that anybody could do what he did, the way he did it, under the circumstances that he had to operate and the things that he had to endure. And for him to go out on top, that’s something that not many guys are able to appreciate either.”
Born on Feb. 17, 1936, in St. Simons, Georgia, Brown was a multisport star at Manhasset High School on Long Island. He averaged 14.9 yards per carry in football and once scored 55 points in a game.
Brown later took up golf, and while playing with Jack Nicklaus in the 1963 Cleveland Pro-Am, he shot a 79.
Brown is survived by his second wife, Monique, and their child. He was divorced after 13 years of marriage from Sue Brown, with whom he had three children.
