  • Lightning beat Rangers 4-1 and extend winning streak to 7 games

NEW YORK (AP) — Brandon Hagel scored twice and Jonas Johansson made 12 saves as the Tampa Bay Lighting beat the New York Rangers 4-1 Saturday to extend their winning streak to seven games.

Nick Paul and Jake Guentzel also scored and Nikita Kucherov had three assists as the Lightning ended New York’s three-game winning streak. Tampa Bay is 7-0-0 since Nov. 18 and has outscored opponents 30-10 in that span.

The Rangers heard boos from the Madison Square Garden crowd as they fell to 2-8-1 at home where they have been shut out five times and scored once on three other occasions. New York is 11-4-1 on the road.

Hagel scored at 10:53 of the opening period as his shot deflected off Rangers defenseman Carson Soucy’s skate. He made it 2-0 with his team-best 15th goal at 8:57 of the second when he slid his own rebound past Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin.

Defenseman Darren Raddysh and Kucherov assisted on both goals.

Kucherov has a nine-game points streak of four goals and 14 assists. He leads the Lightning with 32 points. Raddysh has 11 points in his last seven games.

J.T. Miller ruined Johansson’s shutout bid with his seventh goal at 17:31 of the second. Adam Fox and Mika Zibanejad assisted.

Paul scored at 2:02 of the third to make it 3-1. Rookie defenseman Charle-Edouard D’Astous also assisted.

Guentzel added an empty-netter at 19:41.

Fox left the game at 7:03 of the third after he was checked hard into the boards by Hagel. Fox’s left arm appeared to absorb the brunt of the hit.

    Shesterkin made 31 saves.

The Lightning outshot the Rangers 11-2 in the first. New York didn’t register its first shot on goal until the 9:29 mark.

The Lightning were missing injured defensemen Victor Hedman, Ryan McDonagh and Erik Cernak, as well as forward Brayden Point, out for a fourth-straight game.

  • Texas A&M’s Perfect Season Spoiled by Rival Texas, but Playoffs Await for the Aggies

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas beat Texas A&M again in a bitter rivalry. And while any loss to the Longhorns stings, this one is likely to stick with the Aggies for a long time.

But the playoffs and a chance to play for a national title still await.

“There’s (still) a lot right now to be proud of,” Reed said, noting the Aggies won 11 games in the regular season for the first time since 1992. “There’s still a lot to work for … I think we believe that we can make it to the national championship. And so we’re just going to put our heads down and grind.”

The Aggies (11-1, 7-1 SEC, No. 3 CFP) are a solid bet to make the playoff for the first time. But a special season has definitely been saddled with a sour note after a second straight loss to the Longhorns after the rivalry resumed following a decade-long break.

“We’re just thinking about not getting the job done tonight,” Texas A&M coach Mike Elko said. “Maybe coming out of this weekend, maybe we’ll regroup and figure out moving forward what the positives are of 11-1. Right now it just hurts that we lost to our rival.”

The Aggies had never been to the SEC title game since joining the league in 2012. Texas made it last season in its first year in the conference.

Texas started this season No. 1 and the Aggies had a chance to bury the Longhorns’ playoff hopes once and for all. By winning, the Longhorns can start lobbying to be let in.

“We want to go to the SEC championship. We’re tired of losing to the same team back to back years, tired of not winning that trophy,” Texas A&M linebacker Taurean York said. “ But, you know, (the playoffs), that’s the bright side, so we’ll look at it that way.”

Reed had a chance to solidify his Heisman resume, and looked like he might do it when he shook off an early ankle injury scare and led the Aggies to a 10-3 halftime lead.

But he was ultimately outplayed by his Texas counterpart Arch Manning. It was Manning who started the season as the Heisman favorite only to go through a stretch of poor games at the beginning of the season.

Reed’s star rose when he led the Aggies to a shock comeback against South Carolina two weeks ago. There was no rally in A&M this time.

The Aggies cut the Texas lead to 20-17 before Manning scored his clinching touchdown. Reed then threw two late interceptions that sealed it. He finished with 180 yards passing.

  • No. 5 LSU Sets NCAA Record With 7th Straight 100-Point Game, Beating Marist 113-53 at Paradise Jam

SAINT THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) — No. 5 LSU set an NCAA record with its seventh consecutive 100-point game Friday night, routing Marist 113-53 in the Reef Division semifinal game at the Paradise Jam tournament.

LSU (7-0) bested the 43-year-old NCAA record of six straight 100-point games, set by the 1982 Louisiana Tech squad that went on to win the inaugural NCAA women’s championship.

That team was led by an All-American point guard, Kim Mulkey – the same Mulkey who coached the Tigers to the NCAA title in 2023, and whose team is among the contenders to compete for another crown in the spring.

Seven players finished in double figures for LSU, led by ZaKiyah Johnson’s 19 points. Reserve Kate Koval had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Flau’Jae Johnson and Amiya Joyner added 16 points apiece. MiLaysia Fulwiley, Grace Knox and Jada Richard each had 11.

Justine Henry had a game-best 21 points and Lexie Tarul added 11 points for Marist (2-5).

Flau’Jae Johnson, one of two first-team all-Southeastern Conference returnees on the Tigers’ roster, scored the record-breaking basket, putting in a layup with just over six minutes left in the fourth quarter for a 101-40 lead.

Mulkey went deep on LSU’s bench, with all 11 players scoring as the Tigers shot 53% from the field and made 15 of 18 free throws.

LSU: Will face Washington State in the Reef Division’s championship game Saturday night to wrap up the 2025 Paradise Jam. The Cougars (1-6) won their first game of the season in Friday’s first semifinal game, holding off Miami (Ohio) 71-67.

Marist: Will play Miami (Ohio) in the third-place game.

  • Ole Miss Coach Lane Kiffin Emotional, Non-Committal About His Future, Following Egg Bowl Triumph

STAKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi coach Lane Kiffin sighed and leaned forward in his chair when asked, after a 38-19 victory over Mississippi State, whether he still planned announce his future coaching plans by Saturday, as Ole Miss had promised he would.

“I feel like I’ve got to,” Kiffin said, adding that making such an announcement is “not as enjoyable as people think.”

Kiffin could remain with No. 6 Mississippi (11-1, 7-1 SEC, No. 7 CFP), which is now a virtual lock for a spot in the College Football Playoff — even likely to host a first-round game.

Asked if he thought Ole Miss had earned a first-round home game in the CFP, Kiffin said, “I would think absolutely. … You go 11-1 and in the SEC, that should be obvious.”

LSU and Florida have two of the highest-profile coaching vacancies in the nation. Throughout the Egg Bowl on Friday, and particularly in the second half, Mississippi State fans chanted the names of both schools during timeouts and other stoppages.

“I haven’t made a decision,” said Kiffin, who did not refuse to answer questions during his approximately 20-minute postgame media session, but did not extol the values of any of the possible choices.

“I’ve got some praying to do to figure this thing out,” Kiffin said. “I’m living one day at a time. I know that doesn’t help you, but it helps me.”

Kiffin hurried out of Starkville and headed back to Oxford to watch his son, Knox, the starting quarterback in Friday’s night’s Mississippi High School Class 7A North Half title game against top-ranked Tupelo.

“Tonight, I’m going to be a dad,” Kiffin said. “If (Oxford) could find a way to win, that would be an awesome day.”

Kiffin did not provide a specific time frame regarding Saturday’s decision or the time of the announcement, “it’s a fair question, but I really don’t know. That’s not my call.”

The most emotional moment came when Kiffin considered which sources he would seek for a final consultation.

“I miss my dad,” he said, before clearing his throat and naming former Southern California coach Pete Carroll and Alabama coach Nick Saban. Kiffin served on the staffs of both coaches and often refers to them as his mentors.

Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter has asked Kiffin to decide by Saturday so the Rebels would know if they need to look for a new coach before it’s too late to attract a preferred candidate.

Carter attended Kiffin’s postgame media conference, as is his usual custom, but did not make himself available for comment.

  • No. 4 Georgia Holds off No. 23 Georgia Tech 16-9 for 8th Straight Win in Series

ATLANTA (AP) — Nate Frazier ran for 108 yards, Gunner Stockton threw a scoring pass to Zachariah Branch for the only touchdown of the game and No. 4 Georgia retained its hold on its state rivalry with another close win by holding off No. 23 Georgia Tech 16-9 on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (11-1) set a record with their eighth straight win in the rivalry. Georgia Tech (9-3), which moved its home game from its campus stadium to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, closed the regular season by losing three of four games.

Gunner Stockton’s 7-yard scoring pass to Branch gave Georgia a 10-3 lead in the second quarter. Peyton Woodring of Georgia and Aidan Birr of Georgia Tech each kicked three field goals.

Woodring kicked a 50-yarder early in the fourth quarter for a 16-6 lead. Birr’s 41-yarder with 3:30 remaining again trimmed the deficit to seven points.

With only 14 seconds remaining, Georgia Tech took its last possession at its 20. Haynes King completed two passes to the Georgia 44 for a final snap with a second remaining. and his final pass was batted down in the end zone.

The low-scoring game was a contrast to last year when the Bulldogs outlasted the Yellow Jackets 44-42 in eight overtimes in Athens.

Each team needs help to play in its conference championship game.

Georgia would advance to the Southeastern Conference championship game if Texas A&M loses to Texas Friday night or Alabama loses to Auburn on Saturday night.

Georgia Tech’s path to the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game is more difficult. The Yellow Jackets need Miami, Virginia and SMU to lose on Saturday.

Georgia Tech linebacker Tah’j Butler’s interception of a Stockton pass in the first quarter set up Birr’s 30-yard field goal to give the Yellow Jackets a 3-0 lead. It was only Stockton’s fifth interception of the season.

King completed 19 of 26 passes for 181 yards with an interception. King threw two picks in last week’s 42-28 home loss to Pittsburgh that cost the Yellow Jackets an opportunity to clinch a spot in the ACC championship game.

Georgia: The Bulldogs posted a 7-1 SEC record despite trailing in seven of those games. They were resilient again Friday, recovering quickly after falling behind 3-0. The win should allow the Bulldogs to protect their No. 4 spot — and position for a first-round bye — in the College Football Playoff ranking. … Stockton completed 11 of 21 passes for only 70 yards.

Georgia Tech: Special teams were a problem as Shane Marshall fumbled the opening kickoff, forcing the Yellow Jackets to start at their 3. Punter Marshall Nichols had another field-position blunder with a shanked effort that traveled only 22 yards in the second quarter, giving the Bulldogs the ball at the Georgia 44 and setting up Stockton’s go-ahead touchdown pass to Branch. … Birr’s three field goals gave him 25, a school single-season record.

Georgia: Hoping for a return trip to Mercedes-Benz Stadium if it earns a spot in SEC championship game.

Georgia Tech: Needs losses by Miami, SMU and Virginia on Saturday to earn a spot in ACC championship game.

  • Cameron Boozer Scores 35 Points as No. 4 Duke Tops No. 22 Arkansas 80-71

CHICAGO (AP) — Cameron Boozer had 35 points and nine rebounds to help No. 4 Duke hold off No. 22 Arkansas for a wild 80-71 win on Thursday night.

Boozer went 13 for 18 from the field at the United Center — the same place his father, Carlos, called home while he played for the Chicago Bulls for four of his 13 NBA seasons. Cayden Boozer also is a freshman on the Blue Devils, and Carlos cheered on his twin sons from a courtside seat.

Caleb Foster had 15 points and eight assists for Duke (8-0), which is off to its best start since it winning its first 11 games of the 2017-18 season. Patrick Ngongba II added 11 points.

Darius Acuff Jr. scored 21 points for Arkansas (5-2), and fellow freshman Meleek Thomas finished with 13. Trevon Brazile had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

After trailing by 13 in the first half, the Razorbacks used a 10-3 run to take a 60-53 lead with 10:09 left. Thomas capped the spurt with a 3-pointer.

But Duke delivered down the stretch. Ngongba’s basket gave the Blue Devils a 66-64 lead with 5:20 remaining. Foster made a big 3-pointer with 2:31 to go,

Cameron Boozer began to assert himself in the final minutes of the first half. He made two 3-pointers, converted a driving layup and picked up an assist on Dame Sarr’s dunk during a 10-0 run that gave Duke a 32-22 lead with 5:11 left.

The Blue Devils had a 41-35 lead at the break after the Razorbacks closed the first half with a 7-0 spurt. Cameron Boozer had 15 points at halftime on 6-for-9 shooting.

Arkansas hosts No. 6 Louisville on Wednesday night.

Duke hosts No. 10 Florida on Tuesday night.

  • Prescott’s Cowboys Overcome Mahomes’ Fourth Down Magic in 31-28 Thanksgiving Win Over Chiefs

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dak Prescott threw for two touchdowns, Malik Davis sprinted 43 yards for a score and the Dallas Cowboys overcame two fourth down TD throws from Patrick Mahomes in a 31-28 Thanksgiving victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday.

CeeDee Lamb scored the first Dallas touchdown and finished with 112 yards on seven catches four days after drops plagued the star receiver in a victory over defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia.

The Cowboys (6-5-1) finished a sweep of last season’s Super Bowl teams in the past two games with their third consecutive win while sending the defending AFC champion Chiefs (6-6) back to .500 in a matchup of playoff-chasing teams.

Mahomes had four touchdown passes in his first professional game at the home of the Cowboys, where he played three times for Texas Tech not far from his East Texas roots.

Travis Kelce caught Mahomes’ first fourth down TD toss on a 2-yarder, and Rashee Rice’s second scoring catch came on fourth-and-3 early in the fourth quarter.

Kansas City was down 10 when Mahomes was almost tripped in the backfield by Quinnen Williams but kept his feet and found Xavier Worthy wide open down the field for 42 yards, setting up a 10-yard scoring toss to Hollywood Brown with 3:27 remaining.

Prescott and company didn’t give Mahomes another chance.

After two pass interference penalties gave Dallas first downs, Prescott hit George Pickens for 13 yards and a clinching first down at the two-minute warning. Prescott kneeled three times after that.

Rice had eight catches for 92 yards, his first score coming on a 27-yard catch-and-run on the sideline two plays after Prescott was intercepted by Jaylen Watson on the first Dallas possession.

Davis had just three carries, but his long run gave Dallas its first lead at 17-14 late in the second quarter.

Chiefs: The Chiefs lost two offensive linemen to injuries after beginning the game without RG Trey Smith, who was inactive because of an ankle injury. RT Jawaan Taylor injured an elbow, and rookie LT Josh Simmons went out with a wrist injury. … S Bryan Cook injured an ankle in the first half.

Cowboys: CB Caelen Carson, who had started the previous two games, was inactive after being listed as questionable. He was added to the injury report during the week. … CB DaRon Bland injured a foot in the second half.

Chiefs: Play host to Houston in prime time on Dec. 7.

    Cowboys: Visit Detroit next Thursday.

  • Warriors Star Stephen Curry Will Be Sidelined at Least a Week With a Quad Injury

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Warriors star Stephen Curry will be sidelined for at least a week with a right quadriceps contusion and strained muscle after getting injured during Golden State’s 104-100 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night.

He had an MRI exam after the game and the Warriors said Thursday that Curry would be reevaluated in a week — meaning he likely will miss at least three games. Golden State’s medical staff and coaches typically use a progression of building back up in practice before an injured player returns to game action, so it could be longer before Curry is on the court.

“Nobody wants to get hurt, especially that one,” teammate Jimmy Butler said. “Obviously we go as far as he goes, but we want him to be right so we have the best opportunity to be great. I think we can hold the fort down for a couple of days.”

The 37-year-old Curry, in his 17th NBA season, and Houston’s Amen Thompson went down hard under the basket with 3:24 remaining and the game tied at 91 after Thompson’s drive to the hoop, which initially was whistled an offensive foul. Houston challenged and the call was overturned to a block by Curry — who grimaced in pain on the floor. He limped to the locker room with 35.2 seconds left.

“Everybody’s got to do just a little bit more, nothing too drastic, everybody plays just a little bit better and collectively you hope that’s good enough to win,” Brandin Podziemski said.

Coach Steve Kerr said he could see Curry ailing after the play. The two-time MVP finished with 14 points on 4-for-13 shooting — 2 of 9 on 3-pointers — seven rebounds, five assists and seven of the Warriors’ 16 turnovers that led to 22 Houston points.

“It obviously changes everything, our rotations, how we’re playing, who we’re playing through, so we’ll see,” Kerr said after the game. “When I heard it was a quad I was actually kind of relieved, better than an ankle or a knee, so hopefully he can recover quickly and be OK. But we’ve got to hold down the fort.”

The Warriors’ depth might be tested given guard Gary Payton II sprained his left ankle earlier in Wednesday’s game.

Butler said “it’s just sad” how the Warriors don’t follow their game plan and do the little things sometimes and challenged everybody to “care more” about the details — especially if they’re without Curry.

Butler said he won’t change his approach.

“I don’t care about offense, we need to guard somebody,” he said. “We’re good to score, but I don’t want the offense if we’re missing shots to dictate not going and guarding on the defensive side of the ball. I’m going to play the exact same way, but we’ve just got to guard.”

  • Missouri Locks in Eli Drinkwitz With Six-Year, $10.75 Million Annual Contract Through 2031 Season

Missouri and Eli Drinkwitz have agreed to a six-year contract that will push the football coach’s average compensation to $10.75 million annually and likely end any speculation that he could leave for one of the high-profile job openings elsewhere.

The new contract was announced Thursday, one day after the University of Missouri Board of Curators held a meeting in which they voted unanimously to approve the deal. It would keep Drinkwitz leading the Tigers through the 2031 season.

“My family and I believe deeply in the vision and leadership from our administration and are incredibly happy to continue calling Columbia our home,” Drinkwitz said. “I’m grateful for the unwavering support of President Mun Choi, the Board of Curators, led by chair Todd Graves and incoming vice chair Bob Blitz, along with our athletics director, Laird Veatch.

“We’re also incredibly thankful for the support of our generous donors and NIL partners,” Drinkwitz added in a statement released by the school. “I’m committed to continuing our work to build Mizzou into a championship program.”

Drinkwitz was hired by Missouri in December 2019 after a single season at Appalachian State, where he went 12-1 and finished the year ranked in the top 20. The Tigers had fallen on hard times, but Drinkwitz steadily built them into a contender in the Southeastern Conference, reaching a bowl game in each of his first five seasons with a record of 45–28 heading into Saturday’s game against Arkansas.

That success, which included an 11-2 record and Cotton Bowl victory two years ago, made Drinkwitz a hot commodity on the coaching carousel. Missouri has acted aggressively to keep him, and the deal given to him this week is the second in the last four months.

Missouri officials were no doubt worried about losing Drinkwitz amid a hot coaching market. SEC rivals LSU, Florida, Arkansas and Auburn have openings, while power programs such as Penn State, UCLA and Stanford also are looking for new coaches.

“Under his vision and leadership, Coach Drinkwitz has transformed the standard for Mizzou football and united our entire program and fan base behind a clear pursuit of excellence,” Veatch said. “We’re thrilled he will continue leading our team into the future.”

Missouri has invested heavily in its football program, building a robust NIL program and undertaking massive renovations to Memorial Stadium. That includes a $250 million rebuild of the north end zone that is expected to be completed for the 2026 season.

The Tigers have sold out 20 consecutive home games, breaking the school record set in 1978.

“It’s critically important that we continue providing Coach Drinkwitz with the resources necessary to build and develop championship rosters in the Southeastern Conference,” Veatch said. “This new contract reflects our commitment to further strengthening and enhancing those resources. Our will to win is clear. We’re fully aligned behind Coach Drinkwitz and eager to keep building with him as he leads this program forward in the pursuit of championships.”

  • Stephen Curry Bruises Right Quadriceps in Warriors’ Loss, Will Have MRI Exam

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Stephen Curry limped away from the bench late in Golden State’s 104-100 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night after bruising his right quadriceps. He will undergo an MRI exam on the injury to determine his status.

The Warriors will have to regroup with the idea that Curry might be out for a stretch.

“It obviously changes everything, our rotations, how we’re playing, who we’re playing through, so we’ll see,” coach Steve Kerr said. “When I heard it was a quad I was actually kind of relieved, better than an ankle or a knee, so hopefully he can recover quickly and be OK. But we’ve got to hold down the fort.”

Curry and Amen Thompson went down hard under the basket with 3:24 remaining and the game tied at 91 after Thompson’s drive to the hoop, which initially was whistled an offensive foul. Houston challenged and the call was overturned to a block by Curry.

Kerr said he could see Curry ailing after that play. The two-time MVP finished with 14 points on 4-for-13 shooting — 2 of 9 on 3-pointers — seven rebounds, five assists and seven of the Warriors’ 16 turnovers that led to 22 Houston points.

“That’s a challenge, if Steph is out everybody else has to kind of improve their game a lot to fill that void,” rookie Will Richard said.

Guard Gary Payton II also suffered a sprained left ankle that limited him to just under five minutes.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Yaxel Lendeborg had 20 points and 11 rebounds as No. 7 Michigan routed No. 12 Gonzaga 101-61 on Wednesday night to win the Players Era Championship.

Trey McKenney added 17 points for the impressive Wolverines (7-0), who dominated every one of their opponents in the event. • Ja’Kobi Gillespie’s Clutch Free Throws Lift No. 17 Tennessee to 76-73 Win Over No. 3 Houston

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Ja’Kobi Gillespie scored 22 points and made all six of his free throws in the final 35 seconds to lift No. 17 Tennessee to a 76-73 victory over No. 3 Houston in the Players Era Championship on Tuesday.

Jaylen Carey added 13 points for the Volunteers (7-0) and Bishop Boswell scored 10, including two free throws with 25 seconds left.

Kingston Flemings led Houston (6-1) with 25 points, and Milos Uzan had 17. Uzan, playing in his hometown, missed a halfcourt shot at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime.

Houston guard Emanuel Sharp, who averages 17.7 points per game, was limited to 21 minutes because of foul trouble. He finished with eight points.

These teams met in last season’s NCAA Tournament with a Final Four trip on the line. Houston won the Elite Eight game 69-50, eventually advancing to the championship before losing in the final minute to Florida.

    The rematch was quite different.

Houston couldn’t get much to go down in the second half, enabling Tennessee to go on a 10-point run for a 51-46 lead with 9:42 left. The Cougars went 7:24 between points and 7:42 between field goals, and they missed 11 straight shots and 16 of 18.

Tennessee remained in front the rest of the way, though the Cougars kept the game close. But the Volunteers held off Houston by converting free throws.

  • Christian McCaffrey’s Big Night Leads 49ers to 20-9 Victory Over Panthers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Christian McCaffrey gained 142 yards from scrimmage and scored a touchdown in his first game against Carolina since he was traded away three years ago, leading the San Francisco 49ers to a 20-9 victory over the Panthers on Monday night.

McCaffrey’s big night helped the 49ers (8-4) overcome three interceptions in the first half by Brock Purdy to remain in playoff position headed into the stretch run of the season.

Bryce Young and the Panthers (6-6) struggled to take advantage of their opportunities a week after he threw for a franchise-record 448 yards in a win at Atlanta. Young threw for just 169 yards with one touchdown and one interception as Carolina missed a chance to move into sole possession of first place in the NFC South.

The 49ers went conservative in the second half after Purdy’s rough start to the game, relying mostly on McCaffrey and short passes. The strategy worked with McCaffrey scoring on a 12-yard run to make it 17-3 and the Niners adding a field goal by Matt Gay.

Young did connect on one big play, a 29-yard TD pass to Tetairoa McMillan, but Carolina couldn’t convert on 2-point try after a penalty moved the ball to the 1.

Young then threw his second interception of the game to Ji’Ayir Brown with Carolina in scoring position with a 20-9 deficit.

McCaffrey, who has transformed the 49ers’ offense since being acquired in October 2022, finished with 89 yards rushing and 53 receiving for his 10th 100-yard game of the season — two shy of the franchise record he set in 2023.

The 49ers gave the ball to McCaffrey on the first five plays of the game, leading to the first opening-drive TD of the season against Carolina. Purdy connected on a 12-yard pass to Jauan Jennings for the score.

The two offenses did nothing after that. Purdy became the first player to throw three interceptions — Jaycee Horn got two of them — in the first half all season, but the Panthers turned those into only three points. Young ruined one drive when he was intercepted by Brown on a first-down play from the 1.

The teams traded field goals and the Niners led 10-3 at the half.

Panthers: Horn and LB Claudin Cherelus left the game in the first half with concussions and didn’t return. … G Chandler Zavala (calf) and CB Corey Thornton (ankle) both left in the second half and didn’t return.

49ers: DE Sam Okuayinonu (ankle) left in the second half.

Panthers: Host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

    49ers: Visit Cleveland on Sunday.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Cade Cunningham had 24 points and 11 rebounds and the Detroit Pistons won their 13th straight game to tie the franchise record, holding off the Indiana Pacers 122-117 on Monday night.

The Pistons matched winning streaks by their 1989-90 and 2003-04 championship teams, two seasons after losing 28 in a row to break the NBA season record and tie the overall mark. Eastern Conference-leading Detroit is 15-2.

Down 18 early in the fourth quarter, the Pistons pulled as close as two points. Bennedict Mathurin missed a 3-pointer with a chance to tie it with 11 seconds left.

Caris LeVert added 19 points for Detroit, and Jalen Duren had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Jaden Ivey scored 12 points in his second game back after breaking his left fibula in January.

Pascal Siakam had 24 points for injury-ravaged Indiana. Jarace Walker added 21. The Pacers have lost 10 of 11 to fall to 2-15.

Indiana has been lost without Tyrese Haliburton, the star guard who tore his right Achilles in the Pacers’ Game 7 loss to Oklahoma City in the NBA Finals.

  • Stafford and Adams Connect for 2 More TDs While NFC-Leading Rams Roll to 34-7 Win Over Buccaneers

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Davante Adams caught two of Matthew Stafford’s three touchdown passes during the Rams’ 31-point first half, and Los Angeles moved into sole possession of the NFC lead with a 34-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night.

Cobie Durant returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown to kick-start a dominant performance in the sixth consecutive victory by the Rams (9-2). Colby Parkinson also caught a TD pass from Stafford, who went 25 of 35 for 273 yards in his eighth consecutive interception-free game.

Jared Verse and Kobie Turner had two sacks apiece for the Rams, who haven’t lost since Oct. 2 and haven’t trailed since the second quarter of a win over Baltimore in Week 6. Los Angeles has also jumped over defending champion Philadelphia (8-3) for the first overall seed with six games to play.

Baker Mayfield had 60 total yards and threw two interceptions before sitting out the second half with a left shoulder injury for the Buccaneers (6-5), who have allowed 106 points while losing three straight.

Tampa Bay’s fourth loss in five games overall allowed Carolina (6-5) to pull even atop the NFC South before the Panthers face San Francisco on Monday night.

Tez Johnson caught a TD pass from Mayfield, who winced in pain after the throw. Mayfield played on until apparently aggravating that injury while throwing a Hail Mary intercepted by Emmanuel Forbes at halftime, and Teddy Bridgewater took over for the second half. Tampa Bay managed just 70 net yards passing.

Stafford polished his MVP credentials with another stellar performance in coach Sean McVay’s offense while extending his streak to 308 straight pass attempts without an interception — only the NFL’s eighth such streak with at least 300 attempts in the 21st century.

Puka Nacua had seven catches for 97 yards, while Adams boosted his NFL lead to 12 touchdown receptions, including nine in the Rams’ last five games. New kicker Harrison Mevis also made his first two NFL field goal attempts.

The Rams’ defense also shined, allowing just 123 yards in the first three quarters on the night when the team honored Aaron Donald, who retired in March 2024 after 10 superb seasons on the team’s defensive line.

Adams capped the Rams’ 80-yard opening drive with a 1-yard catch, his eighth straight scoring grab that covered fewer than 5 yards over the last five games.

Less than three minutes later, Durant ripped the ball away from a juggling Cade Otton and returned it for his second career TD, with Kam Kinchens blocking Mayfield near the goal line to finish it.

Stafford completed his first 12 passes into the second quarter before hitting Parkinson for a 5-yard TD.

Down 21-0, Mayfield and the Bucs finally answered with a drive ending in Johnson’s 14-yard TD catch. Los Angeles needed just four plays to score again, with Adams getting loose for a 24-yard TD.

Buccaneers: WR Chris Godwin (fibula) played and had two catches.

Rams: CB Roger McCreary injured his hip while getting his first defensive snaps for LA in the first quarter.

Buccaneers: Host Arizona on Nov. 30.

Rams: At Carolina on Nov. 30.

  • Cowboys Rally From 21 Down to Beat Eagles 24-21 on Brandon Aubrey’s Game-Ending Field Goal

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Brandon Aubrey kicked a 42-yard field goal as time expired after Dak Prescott rallied Dallas from a 21-point deficit and the Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-21 in a mistake-filled thriller Sunday.

The Cowboys (5-5-1) converted on their third tiebreaking chance of the fourth quarter to extend Prescott’s home winning streak against NFC East opponents to 19 in their first game at AT&T Stadium since the death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland.

The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles (8-3) are still in good shape to be the first repeat winners in the NFC East since they won four in a row from 2001-04, but the offense reverted to the form that has frustrated A.J. Brown after the star receiver had a big hand in the 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Philadelphia lost with a lead of at least 21 points for the first time since 1999, when Arizona beat the Eagles 25-24. It was the first win for Dallas when trailing by three touchdowns since the Cowboys beat the Rams 34-31 in 2014.

“You’ve heard me say it a thousand times,” Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “You can’t win the game in the first quarter, second, third, but you can win the game in the fourth quarter. I told them, ‘Believe. Believe in each other and believe in the fact that we’ll find a way to do it.’”

Prescott broke Tony Romo’s franchise career record for yards passing, throwing for 354 yards and two touchdowns and also diving over the goal line on a tying 8-yard run early in the fourth quarter. Prescott has 34,378 yards to Romo’s 34,183.

The Cowboys made all the mistakes early, including two penalties to keep alive Philadelphia’s second touchdown drive and Tyler Guyton’s false start from the 1 that led to Prescott’s interception in the end zone when the deficit was 21 points in the second quarter.

The Eagles had all the miscues late, starting with Saquon Barkley’s first fumble of the season. After Dallas failed to convert that mistake, Xavier Gipson fumbled inside the 10 on a punt return after unwisely fielding the ball at the Philadelphia 2.

Prescott couldn’t get Dallas in the end zone with three tries from the 2, the last when Schottenheimer went for the touchdown instead of the field goal and Prescott’s pass to Jake Ferguson was short of the goal line and incomplete.

Odighizuwa gave the Cowboys one more chance by sacking Jalen Hurts on third down with 1:52 remaining. The Cowboys got to run out the clock to set up for the winning field goal after Prescott’s 24-yard completion to George Pickens, who had nine catches for 146 yards and a touchdown.

Brown had five catches for 67 yards in the first quarter, including a 7-yard touchdown for the first points, but didn’t have another grab until the fourth quarter.

Hurts threw for a touchdown and ran for two scores, the last on the tush push. But Barkley was held to 22 yards on 10 carries.

Pickens scored Dallas’ first TD on a 1-yard catch, and CeeDee Lamb had a 48-yarder to set up Brevyn Spann-Ford’s first career touchdown on a 4-yarder to get Dallas within a score late in the third quarter.

Odighizuwa, who shared the defensive line room with Kneeland, was the last starter announced and ran onto the field carrying a flag with Kneeland’s name and jersey number, 94. The Cowboys showed a video tribute on the giant screens above the field before a moment of silence.

Eagles: CB Adoree’ Jackson was evaluated for a concussion. … S Reed Blankenship injured a thigh.

Cowboys: LT Tyler Guyton injured an ankle.

Eagles: Play Chicago at home Friday.

Cowboys: Face Kansas City in annual home Thanksgiving game Thursday.

  • Dak Prescott Breaks Tony Romo’s Franchise Record for Yards Passing With the Dallas Cowboys

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dak Prescott has become the franchise leader in yards passing for the Dallas Cowboys, moving past Tony Romo with a 9-yard completion to George Pickens on his first throw of the second half against Philadelphia on Sunday.

Prescott replaced Romo as the starter when he was a rookie in 2016 after Romo was injured in a preseason game. He led the Cowboys on an 11-game winning streak and never gave the job back.

The completion to Pickens broke Romo’s record of 34,183 yards passing. Prescott is the franchise leader in completions and is less than 15 touchdown passes from Romo’s club mark of 247. Prescott entered the game needing 160 yards to pass Romo.

A 33-16 victory at Las Vegas last week made Prescott the third Dallas quarterback to win at least 80 regular-season games. He trails a pair of Pro Football Hall of Famers and multiple Super Bowl winners in Troy Aikman (94) and Roger Staubach (85).

  • Sami Valimaki Holds on for 1st PGA Tour Title on Final Day of Close Calls for Keeping Cards

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) — Sami Valimaki became Finland’s first PGA Tour winner on Sunday when he closed with a 4-under 66 for a one-shot victory in the RSM Classic, the final event of the year, which saw hopes rise and fall over the final hour at Sea Island.

Valimaki, who had two runner-up finishes over the past two seasons, used putter from below the green on the 16th and then holed an 18-foot putt putt. He was steady over the closing holes even as the wind abruptly changed direction with a little more force late in the day.

Far more dramatic was everything going on in front of him.

The top 100 in the FedEx Cup standings — down from 125 players in previous years — have full PGA Tour cards for a 2026 season when the fields will be smaller.

Ricky Castillo shot 28 on the front nine and closed with a 62, and when he finished, it looked like that would be enough for him to move from No. 135 inside the top 100. But then Max McGreevy holed a 30-foot birdie putt on the final hole for a 63, moving him into second place alone.

That bumped Castillo down to No. 102 by fewer than 10 points.

Right after McGreevy holed his putt, Lee Hodges had a 10-foot birdie attempt that narrowly missed and cost him a chance to move into the top 100. The par for a 66 left him at No. 101 in the FedEx Cup standings by about two points.

When the RSM Classic ended, the players at Nos. 95 to 100 going into the final event were unchanged.

And there was Valimaki, a two-time winner on the European tour who was runner-up two weeks ago in Mexico. Now he has a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour and is assured of playing the first two $20 million signature events of 2026 by finishing at No. 51 in the FedEx Cup.

“It has been a long road, of course,” Valimaki said. “I feel like it’s a really tough year even when I kind of played decent golf, and then to keep pushing and find some good grooves in the last few tournaments, it feels amazing.”

McGreevy, who already had his card locked up, moved up to No. 60 to also qualify for a pair of signature events to start next year. His finish bumped Jordan Spieth, who did not play this fall, from the 60th spot, meaning Spieth will need sponsor exemptions for Pebble Beach and Riviera.

McGreevyplayed with freedom knowing he didn’t have to worry about playing for his card.

“I never felt that nervous,” he said. “I felt like I was playing to win. Luckily, my best golf came out at the end of the year.”

Nico Echavarria shot 65 to tie for fourth and moved into that No. 51-60 slot for signature events on the West Coast.

Sam Stevens made a hole-in-one on the third hole with a 9-iron over a bunker to a front pin and wound up with a 63 to join an 11-way tie for seventh place. He already was set for all the signature events. On his mind at No. 48 in the world ranking was staying in the top 50 at year’s end to earn a spot in the Masters.

It’s too close to call, as it is for Johnny Keefer, the Korn Ferry Tour player of the year who came into the week at No. 50. Both were in that big tie for seventh and figure to move up a few spots, with tournaments still to be held in Australia and South Africa the rest of the year.
